i do not remember the plot of scum villain because i read it in 2020 and it feels like a fever dream now so my characterization is entirely based off of the fanon on my dash.
hualian are my favorite but i do feel that bingqiu deserve the win. tgcf is VERY yuri, but svsss has gender as a main theme and both characters keep getting compared to maidens. overall there are more explicit references to women regarding bingqiu.

With the completion of Tyrannian, the (pre-conversion) line-up of colors for the Centibyte is complete!!
I can't believe I finished 54 of these- 12 have unique poses, and 6 more involve heavy lineart edits or complete relining of the base pose. I had a lot of fun figuring all of them out, and it's really satisfying to be able to see them all together now

another thing i really really appreciated about cinderella's castle is the friendship between ella and lucy and justine, the scenes leading up to their gruesome death were so vitally important for ella's character and also to show the horror of the trolls, stepmother lead those girls there for the explicit purpose of stealing their skins, she could have done it immediately, but she let ella have that one day of happiness with her friends before ripping it out from under her, it shows that cruelty and also the love ella has been missing
justine and lucy are the only ones to believe her, she's been kept from her dear loyal friends for years and years, and they pick up right where they left off and for the first time in all that time someone believes ella, she gets this gorgeous sliver of hope to hold onto
plus, their friendship is so fun and well written !! it's girly and childish and kinda silly but it's beautiful and it's pure, i'm so grateful for the langs for always investing the same love and attention (and frankly sometimes even more) into their female characters as they do the male characters, that little snippet of friendship brings together the show in such a nice way for me that it couldn't have if they had cut around that moment of peace and quiet in favour of horror

To explain The Goblin Problem and not go on a tag rant on someone else's reblog, I will explain it in the nutshell.
The Goblin Problem is when a story establishes a group of creatures to serve as recurrent antagonists (not necessarily all one species; in a lot of rpg games this can broadly apply to "monsters") THAT:
Are never negotiable, or the negotiable parties among them are Token Heroic Orcs- that is to say, they are seen as objectors or 'good' versions who have absolutely no connections to, and hold no objections toward you attacking, the rest of their brethren, who they have forsaken as the price to be paid for being good.
Have obvious unique technology; they may attack you with weapons found nowhere else in the game, demonstrate the ability to speak, have their own obvious language, tame a creature that nobody else tames so that it's thus impossible that they are stealing already-tamed specimens from someone else
Are characterized primarily or exclusively as raiders who attack others, with the justification this means they are inferior creatures parasitically dependent on Good, Civilized Settings, e.g. they cannot possibly be sustainably hunting, gathering, or practicing either nomadic or settled agriculture.
Are often defined as having no choice to be evil or are created by a greater evil to serve as thralls, and yet, will not under any circumstances be regarded as indoctrinated victims, or if that is mentioned, there will nonetheless be an overarching lack of narrative concern as to where or how the survivors should live after the greater evil is taken care of, or if effort should be made to challenge the indoctrination and give them the ability to choose their lives.
What this ultimately creates is that they are unambiguously people, who obviously check all the marks of sapience, who are quite possibly wearing clothes, but the goblin or orc exists as a stopgap. You want your fantasy hero to get into a swordfight but you don't want him to kill another human being. So you invent something that wields a sword but is in some way "not a person", which is senseless. Unless you want the nature of this swordfight to be that a chimpanzee picked up a knife, at which point they are not going to use reliable sword techniques.

i often struggle with my own tone, so if i ever come off as sarcastic or insincere i promise you that it was not intended. and that's also why everything is in caps lock most of the time bc that's the most straight-forward way to show that i am, in fact, happy about something. aand i also seem to repeat the same phrases a lot, including "ily" and idk "that's so cool" but i promise you that i really do mean them every single time it's just hard for me to put my excitement into words. i hope it's doesn't seem like i'm just saying those things and i hope it's not annoying in any way.
