i mean i get why it sucks but i've been having an existential crisis that keeps me up at night for most of my life too and i'm not producing people expressly to abuse them and use them as tools about it. Astrals are just on something else i guess
i'd say it's a question of scale in general, as in an existential crisis coming so deeply from a whole different life in your head would fuck someone up much more. but anyway i keep saying Lucilius' way to treat other is bad, in those same posts in fact, just that his issues with depersonalization/derealization are also extremely compelling and actually make me feel bad for him. Those two feelings can coexist, and i don't mean that you have to be nicer to him or anything. i'm just saying he's still an interesting character.
#like idk as someone who suffered from both scenario ie: abuse from family and lover#and this feeling of twisting yourself to try to overcompensate on the neglect you've been through#AND as someone who genuinely feels like i'm walking my life as dissociated from reality#and have to constantly remind myself to remain close to earth while being scared when the apathy knocks in#especially after too-realistic dreams that can really make it seem like something is deeply wrong with me and i shouldn't be here#i have actually deep feelings for both situation#yeah Lucilius's way to treat others is wrong. i've never denied it or implied that because he was a sad meow meow it was forgiveable#all i've been saying is that damn actually this feeling of complete disconnect resonate with me to the point of shattering my glass house#and while compassion and empathy are stuff i deeply deeply prioritize in my life#i have those episodes of pure apathy especially after a disconnection like that#that genuinely scare me and that i have to work twice harder to feel myself back into controlling my thoughts#and therefore am deeply scared of the flipside of not managing to fight it#which actually make me much more empathic to characters who can't. actually.#like i have this thing where i see characters who struggles with similar issues than me and make all the wrong choices#because i pity them like i'd pity myself in the mirror on a bad day#like i'm sorry i don't want to be tmi or justify myself in such a way but i've tried just being more general#and if we're going to put personal experience into all of this i have all day#i have a trauma for all of the stuff i have lighthearted but strong opinions about#i insult Lucilius every other day i feel like it's a bit sad that the day i say i do actually like how interesting his drama is#that i have to argue for the reasons why those issues - while not erasing his flaws - are worth being emotional about#and i'm not asking you to feel this way and you should stick to how you feel bc your personal experience is what should shape your feelings#but you also need to accept that i have my own as well#ichareply#anonymous#ichafantalks gbf

TANGERINE MASTERLIST
"Ah," you groan, burning yourself on the saucer as you transfer the pasta into the strainer over the sink. Your husband, who'd just finished setting the table to his liking, peeks his head inside the kitchen.
"You ok, luv?" he asks, coming over and guiding your hand to the faucet where he turns on the cool water, "All better, yeah?" he asks, almost mocking in the kindest way and he kisses the crown of your head as the water runs over your wounded palm.
"My poor girl," Tangerine is really laying it on thick now as he kisses behind your ear. "D'ya need me to finish up here?"
You turn, looking up at him, and nod, "Would you? They're coming over at nine and I haven't even showered or changed—and the warmth is making me feel all woozy." You emphasize this point by fanning at your face with your wet hand, water droplets cooling your skin, and Tangerine cups his hand over your stomach.
"'Course my darlin'. What an awful husband I am havin' ya cook while you're pregnant. I'm sorry, my luv," he says genuinely, ignoring your attempt to remind him you'd wanted to make the meal since it's your sister's favorite, as he practically shoos you away.
"I'll call ya down when they've arrived, hm?"
You nod, smiling as you make your way up the stairs to shower and change for dinner.
As the oldest, you've always been protective over your sister. Andy had this tendency to jump into situations impulsively and when she'd called and gushed over her new fiancé, you had been slightly concerned for her considering she'd gotten engaged within just four months of meeting him.
So, with Tangerine's approval, you had invited them both over for dinner.
Once you finish adjusting your dress in the mirror, you make your way downstairs and smile at the familiar sound of Andy's rambling.
The room smells like the spaghetti you'd started and Tangerine had finished, and you see that he has poured both Andy and her fiancé a glass of wine.
He hasn't poured one for himself considering he doesn't drink when you don't.
Seeing you, Andy instantly squeals and rushes up to pull you into her arms. "Oh my, just look at you," Andy exclaims and looks at your dress, which shows your baby bump, "You been taking good care of my darling sister?" She looks at Tangerine with a light-hearted frown and points at him accusingly.
"Mmhm, only the best for my darlin'," Tangerine smirks and moves closer so he can kiss your cheek. You feel all warm and fuzzy inside as you smile at your husband. You're too preoccupied with your happiness to fully hear Andy introduce her new fiancé until Tangerine nudges your shoulder and you look up at your sister's future husband.
You're happy you hadn't been holding a wine glass because it would have fallen onto the ground instantly.
"This is Oliver," Andy says, hugging him closely as she draws hearts on his chest. The man is tall and slim and he has dusty blond hair. His eyes, which the blue reminds you of Tangerine's, are piercing into yours and you shudder.
You know him.
Tangerine can see your discomfort and he squeezes your hand. He doesn't mention it. He doesn't want to make a scene and he's distracted by Oliver shaking his hand. "Hi," Oliver then moves his hand to you and he continues to stare. You feel sick but you know you have to shake his hand anyway.
"Hi," you answer and strain a smile.
Andy jumps in immediately with a new topic of conversation, happily introducing the man she loves to you and Tangerine. You feel like you're underwater as you stare at Oliver and all those memories; of the bundles of flowers and the endless phone calls swarm and drown you.
Tangerine's hand in yours is the only thing now keeping you above water.
"Excuse me," you say early into dinner as Tangerine finishes serving everyone some pasta. You've barely sat down but you suddenly feel sick to your stomach so you rush to the bathroom.
After only a moment, you hear your husband's worried voice from behind the bathroom door.
"My luv, are you alright in there? Is everything okay?" he calls and raps on the door with his knuckles.
You let him in instantly, your eyes round as you pull him inside the bathroom. Tangerine stumbles inside and looks you up and down with confusion.
"The baby's okay," you reassure him breathlessly and his expression softens.
"I didn't ask if the baby was okay," he says gently but places his hand on your stomach as a way to show he's grateful the baby is okay, "I asked if you were okay, my heart."
You look up at him, holding in your frustrated tears. "I know Oliver," you whisper.
Tangerine frowns but he understands what you mean. "You do?"
You nod and start to explain. "Yeah, I know him from university. We were classmates freshman year and then—it became weird. Remember that stalker I had? It's him. He was obsessed with me and would ask me out numerous times and when he finally asked for my number, he wouldn't stop calling and following me around. The university got involved and he left junior year. I haven't heard or seen him since but Tan, I know it's him. I just know," you sound scared and your husband hates the sound.
"Sweetheart," he says and pulls you in closer, his hands cupping your cheeks. "I believe you, darlin'. You wouldn't lie about something like this. What do you need me to do? Should I kick him out–or—"
"No!" you lean your head on Tangerine's chest, sighing as you clutch at his shirt, "Andy clearly loves him. I can't ruin this for her."
Tangerine's hand rests against the back of your head, his thumb soothing in your hair. "But, if he makes you uncomfortable—"
You interrupt him, "I can deal with one dinner and then I'll tell Andy about all this privately. It has to be her decision, okay?"
"I do not want your stalker as our brother-in-law, Y/n," Tangerine says sternly.
"It's not about us! It's about Andy and– please can you pretend I didn't tell you anything tonight?" you say, "And I'll pretend I don't remember him."
Tangerine can see the determination in your eyes. He wants to protest and tell you you don't have to go through with this dinner but he can tell you want to protect your sister more than yourself and he knows he has to respect that.
So, he puts on his best fake smile as you both return to the table. Tangerine hates pretending like this, especially because now he's overanalyzing every look Oliver is sending you. His blood boils even more when Olicer asks you,
"How far along are you?"
How dare that bastard ask about his baby?
You take a bite from your fork and strain a smile, nudging Tangerine's calf to convince him to stay quiet as you answer the question. "Almost six months now," you say and Oliver uses this as an opportunity to look you up and down which makes you visibly tense.
"Yeah, my darlin' has been a real trouper," Tangerine fakes a laugh at Oliver's question and rolls up his sleeves, wrapping an arm around your shoulder as he presses a kiss to your cheek. You know what he's doing instantly because you've seen the number of bullet wounds grazes and knife slashes he has on his forearms, as well as the tattoos that cover his skin.
He's intimidating Oliver and by the look on the poor man's face, it's working.
"And she has me to help 'er, right, luv?" He smiles and tilts his head in Oliver's direction, drumming his hand on the table as he brings attention to the scars there and the amount of rings he's wearing—especially his wedding band.
Oliver stares at you less after that.
As you say your goodbyes to Andy, you tell her you'll call her later, and then smile politely at Oliver—who doesn't say much to you or Tangerine and once your front door is shut you turn around and narrow your eyes at your husband.
"I saw what you did," you say and Tangerine raises his arms in mock confusion. He winks and then starts to clear the table. You follow him, trying to do the same but he sends you a look and you retaliate, instead leaning against the kitchen counter as you watch him.
"You didn't need to show him your scars like that. Andy doesn't know what you do for a living, remember?" you sigh.
Tangerine hums, "I wasn't showing them to her," he shrugs and loads up the dishes into the dishwasher.
"I wanted that bastard to know what I would do to him if he even considered hurting you again. I wanted him to know what I'm capable of," he finishes.
You sit down on a chair, holding your stomach and you sigh. Tangerine turns to look at you over your shoulder, "Ya okay, darlin'?" he asks, wiping his hands on a dish towel as he walks over and kneels in front of you, his hands on your knees.
You nod. "I'm just a little tired," you whisper.
Tangerine caresses your cheeks. "See, this is why I had to intimidate the bastard. You were under unnecessary stress and that makes him a threat to everything I hold dear," he whispers and kisses your stomach over your dress. "Ya know I won't let anyone hurt you, luv, yeah?"
"I know," you say, running one of your hands in his curls and twisting one in your finger as you contemplate admitting this. "I did think it was hot," you admit, "Seeing you show off your arms like that."
Your husband's grin widens. "Yeah?"
You glare at him and suppress a smile. "Oh, don't get a big head about it, you prat."
Tangerine laughs and stands up, leaning down and pressing a kiss to your forehead. He straightens up and flexes his muscles, sending you a playful wink. "Is this making ya all hot and bothered for me?"
You shake your head but the way you're staring at him says otherwise. Tangerine helps you stand, smirking as he sees that look in your eyes. He knows your pregnancy sometimes makes you hornier than usual and he can read your moods easily now.
"Want me to make the ache go away?" he teases and kisses your cheek.
You laugh breathlessly and wrap your arms around his neck. "Okay," you say and then look at him seriously, "But you're doing all the work. I just wanna lay there," you pout, "I'm tired."
Tangerine smiles and nods, "Such a princess," he teases and then succumbs to your wishes, "But anything for you, luv'."

This is probably the most unpopular of all unpopular opinions out there, but hear me out for just a second:
Can we please start to acknowledge Kuai Liang's flaws? It's perfectly fine to like a character while also acknowledging their negative traits and the bad things they've done. I'm genuinely confused by the whole "aww Kuai Liang is so nice :)" thing the fandom has going on. I understand that, being a Bi-Han fan, I might sound biased, but I promise this is coming from a completely neutral standpoint.
I don't see how any of the positive traits fans associate with Kuai Liang (kindness, selflessness, a caring nature) are backed up by any canon material we know of. Those traits belong to Tomas, not Kuai Liang. The version of Kuai Liang that is a loving brother to Tomas and the prime example of a good man only exists in fanon.
Vengeful, short-tempered, regressive — those are Kuai Liang's actual traits.
May I remind you, the real Kuai Liang looks like this.
His face expresses arrogance, he's looking down on whoever is in front of him. He doesn't smile, doesn't display any expression that one could interpret for kindness. He looks cold. Does that arrogance and coldness look familiar at all?
It's the same expression as this one. Bi-Han is also shown looking down on others, with the exact same confidence stemming from the idea that he is superior to others. Kuai Liang mirrors that expression perfectly. They're brothers, they're similar in the way they act and think, in the way they were raised. Let's not forget that Kuai Liang was second in line for the grandmaster title while with the Lin Kuei. He is grandmaster of the Shirai Ryu now. They are both arrogant.
Tomas is the only one of the three who smiles and has a warm, kind aura to him. I'm not saying he's a perfect ray of sunshine, he's certainly capable of being ruthless just like his brothers, but he doesn't share their overwhelmingly negative traits.
There is no warmth to Kuai Liang at all, which is ironic given that his element is fire. Kuai Liang's fire, however, burns cold to match Bi-Han's ice. They are not opposites, they are the same.
Hanzo as Scorpion was driven by grief and ultimately love for his family, Kuai Liang's fire is only fueled by hatred for his brother.
While Bi-Han is obsessed with power, Kuai Liang's obsession with honor and tradition is crossing the line to fanaticism. Am I the only one to find it concerning how he worships his father and his father's ideals almost religiously? It's pretty much all he ever talks about at any given chance.
to Bi-Han: "His teachings did not pass with him. They should still guide us." to Bi-Han: "Father would turn in his grave if he saw this." to Smoke: "We must chart a new course. One that both honors our Father's legacy and serves Earthrealm." to Kitana: "Death before dishonor." to Smoke: "Only if we honor tradition."
Is this how a normal person talks? I don't think so. Admittedly, Bi-Han's methods are wrong, but since when is it a good thing to be completely against progress? Kuai Liang is stuck holding onto outdated traditions that don't allow for growth. It's not necessarily a bad thing that he looks up to his father, but idolizing someone to the point of never questioning anything they do or say and giving up any critical thinking is dangerous.
There's plenty more examples in the story mode and intros where Kuai Liang brings up honor and tradition, but this post is going to be long enough as it is so I only named a few.
I want to focus more on how Kuai Liang treats other characters throughout the story.
Tomas:
Why does the fandom claim he's such a good brother to Tomas when this is the only scene in the story mode where Kuai Liang expresses any sort of care towards Tomas — in a moment where he needs Tomas on his side?
Oddly enough, he's playing at Tomas' vulnerability here by bringing up family and reassuring him that they're brothers even if they don't share blood, in direct contrast to how Bi-Han said Tomas' blood was not Lin Kuei earlier. Words he chose carefully and deliberately, not out of the goodness of his heart because he wanted to comfort Tomas, but to achieve the desired effect: to sway Tomas to his side.
Similar to Bi-Han, Kuai Liang is a manipulative and calculating character. I would even dare to go as far as to say he's even more manipulative since Bi-Han lacks the charisma and patience to be a successful manipulator. Bi-Han makes no effort to convince Tomas to join him. He can't even keep up the lie he told Kuai Liang for very long. Bi-Han's actions are impulsive and poorly planned out, he's the naive one being manipulated by characters like Shang Tsung while Kuai Liang makes smart, calculated moves. He knew exactly what he was doing when speaking to Tomas.
I don't see how that was even necessary since Tomas would have picked Kuai Liang's side regardless simply because it's the one aligning with his own beliefs, but Kuai Liang's words were a subtle "Hey, remember that I'm the one who considers you part of this family and he does not. If you don't side with me, you're going to betray your own brother."
One of the key signs to recognize a manipulator by is how they try and convince a person close to them that it's "the two of them against everyone else" or in this case "them against their older brother". Manipulators know someone's weaknesses (Tomas' desire to be a part of their family) and how to exploit them to get what they want.
There was never even the slightest chance that Tomas would have sided with Bi-Han in that fight anyway, but he also appears way more passive in it as opposed to Kuai Liang. Tomas doesn't want to fight his own brother, but at the end of the day he cares more about doing the right thing and saving innocent lives than about his inner conflict. For Kuai Liang, it's a quest for vengeance and the pursue of his own goals above all else.
I also think it's interesting that Tomas looks slightly surprised/ confused at the hand being placed on his arm by Kuai Liang. It's almost like he's not used to being reassured like this which makes you wonder how often Kuai Liang really comforted Tomas or showed any support towards him. Like Liu Kang and everyone else, Kuai Liang barely acknowledged Smoke's presence before. They're only seen exchanging occasional glances.
What has me doubt the sincerety of Kuai Liang's words even more is this scene.
Personally, I don't believe that Bi-Han has ever snapped at Tomas like that before this incident here, but I know the fandom likes to think otherwise so just for this take let's go with the wrong assumption that Bi-Han used to put Tomas down like that regularly.
Why did Kuai Liang not step in to defend Tomas in this scene? If he knew where this was going why did he let Bi-Han finish his sentence? It's certainly not out of respect or because Bi-Han is their grandmaster. Kuai Liang has no issue talking back to him and contradicting him in other situations but he was surprisingly silent when this whole thing went down.
He was either just as surprised as Tomas that Bi-Han would snap at their brother like that because it hasn't happened before or because he simply didn't care to interrupt since he had nothing to gain from it, unlike later when he wanted Tomas' loyalty for himself.
Kuai Liang could have been standing up for Tomas in this situation if he was the good brother everyone sees him as, but for some reason he didn't. Make of that what you will.
As for the intros between them, there's only one where Kuai Liang asks about Tomas' family. In every other intro with Tomas he only speaks of his own goals. Honor, tradition, training the Shirai Ryu, defeating the Lin Kuei... At one point he praises Tomas for his loyalty towards him, only to question said loyalty later on.
Scorpion: Our resolve cannot waver, brother. Smoke: I'm offended that you think mine has.
If I'm not mistaken, that's a prime example of manipulation right here. Guilt tripping/shaming someone into doing something they don't even want to do.
Kuai Liang seems to always be working an angle with Tomas. Why is he suddenly doubting him? Because he knows Tomas wants peace, not war between the brothers?
Ultimately, it seems he doesn't care about what Tomas wants. We know that Tomas is torn in this conflict, he resents Bi-Han, but he also doesn't want his brothers to fight. Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked for Liu Kang to reunite them.
Tomas' intros are a whole paradox of their own.
Smoke: Are we to be enemies for life? Sub-Zero: Unless you submit, Tomas.
Smoke: I'll never forgive Bi-Han. Scorpion: His betrayal has seared both our hearts.
Scorpion: We'll soon meet the Lin Kuei in battle. Smoke: It will be our last with them. Smoke: For Earthrealm's sake, my brothers must reunite. Raiden: There's little hope for that, Tomas.
Smoke: Can I get the brothers to reconcile? Liu Kang: They must choose their own path, Tomas.
What Tomas says to other characters contradicts everything he says to Kuai Liang. But why? Why does he never tell Kuai Liang directly that he'd just wish him and Bi-Han would stop fighting? Why if not because he's afraid of Kuai Liang's reaction and that he will lose him as a brother unless he agrees with everything Kuai Liang says?
SPOILERS: It's interesting how Kuai Liang in this scene asks Tomas to help him bring Bi-Han back with them so he won't be able to aid Shang Tsung, but according to leaks he's going to leave Bi-Han behind with Havik in the dlc, not even caring about the consequences that might have for Bi-Han or for Earthrealm. Now that Tomas isn't there he no longer has to keep up the facade. Tomas' absence also makes me wonder if he maybe got tired of Kuai Liang's spitefulness and blind hatred.
To sum it up, here's what we know about how Kuai Liang treats Tomas:
Kuai Liang initialy doesn't defend Tomas against Bi-Han's harsh words
He picks an odd timing to comfort Tomas at the Ying Fortress, possibly to assure that Tomas will join his side, not Bi-Han's
He's trying to push his own agenda onto Tomas who agrees with him in their intros but doesn't seem to share Kuai Liang's goals when speaking to other characters like Liu Kang or Raiden
SPOILERS: It seems that Tomas won't be attending Kuai Liang's wedding as he's not mentioned at all in any of the dlc leaks. He might be trying to stay out of the fight between his brothers entirely.
Bi-Han:
Another detail I've noticed is how quickly Kuai Liang comes up with the idea to create the Shirai Ryu. How likely is it that he made the decision to form an entire new clan on the spot? He seems way too prepared for this scenario.
Smoke: Once he's exposed, won't you be grandmaster? Scorpion: You forget Cyrax and Sektor. Their loyalty to Bi-Han is absolute. They'll sooner abet his corruption than follow me. We must chart a new course.
Why did Tomas not know about this when they're part of the same clan but Kuai Liang knows the answer immediately? It's almost like he has thought it through before, tried to figure out exactly who would side with him and who wouldn't if it came down to important Lin Kuei members choosing between him and Bi-Han. And that's because he has. It even says so in his official bio.
Kuai Liang always intended to overthrow Bi-Han.
He admitted that he was aware of Bi-Han's frustrations all along and yet he never brought up his concerns to Liu Kang or anyone else. It seems that he intended to take advantage of how mentally unstable his brother was in order to become grandmaster himself. I'm not saying he always wanted the title to himself, Kuai Liang doesn't care about power, but his obsession with tradition equals Bi-Han's obsession with power. He wanted to rule the Lin Kuei himself to enforce his own ideals and when he realized that wouldn't work out, he settled for the next best thing: creating his own clan.
Kitana in comparison also knows that Mileena is impulsive and many people doubt that she's fit to lead but she supports her sister regardless. Her loyalty to Mileena is unwavering. Kitana loves and supports her sister unconditionally. It doesn't even once cross her mind to take Mileena's place on the throne.
Kuai Liang and Kitana share similar values, yet Kitana's loyalty to her sister outweighs all that while Kuai Liang didn't hesitate to plot against Bi-Han way before Bi-Han even sided with Shang Tsung. Just Bi-Han's frustration alone was reason enough for Kuai Liang to want to overthrow his brother.
Ashrah, a complete stranger, cares more about redeeming Bi-Han than his own brother does. And no, Kuai Liang's actions can't be justified by bringing up that Bi-Han let their father die or betrayed Earthrealm etc. because Kuai Liang gave up on him long before any of that happened. In fact, the way Kuai Liang constantly brings up their father at every chance he gets probably added to Bi-Han's frustrations and is part of the reason why he was driven to madness.
Scorpion: Glory? We fight for duty. Sub-Zero: Does our father's ghost possess you? All I hear is his voice.
Bi-Han seems haunted by their father's ghost and Kuai Liang knows, yet he doesn't shy away from bringing it up at every opportunity. Was it done on purpose? Who knows.
But it's noteworthy that it's again manipulative behavior. The way Kuai Liang constantly criticizes Bi-Han, undermines his authority, compares him to their father whenever he can although he knows about Bi-Han's frustrations, then claims a shadow has fallen on Bi-Han's soul when he at the very least partially helped cast that shadow.
I'm not sure why people claim Kuai Liang was supportive of Bi-Han before his betrayal because there's no evidence of that at all. At least, none that I could find. Kuai Liang seems reluctant to follow Bi-Han's orders and he also doesn't seem to respect him much. Again, compare that to how Kitana shows actual concern for Mileena while Kuai Liang just seems fed up with Bi-Han.
Personally, I believe Kuai Liang's goals are far bigger than we know at this point. Something about the line "The Shirai Ryu won't rest until Bi-Han is defeated and the Lin Kuei's honor is restored" suggests that, while he built his own clan, Kuai Liang still has some interest in the Lin Kuei. I doubt that he's just planning to take down Bi-Han to let someone else be grandmaster in his place. I think that Kuai Liang wants to merge both clans once Bi-Han is defeated. After all, Kuai Liang's bio mentions that he's willing to fight his brother for control of the Lin Kuei's legacy. He might think it would be in his father's interest if he became grandmaster of both clans. However, that's just an educated guess and might not be true at all.
How Kuai Liang treats Bi-Han:
Kuai Liang never trusted Bi-Han's leadership skills or acknowledged his authority
The conflict of interest between the brothers always existed, even before Bi-Han switched sides and Kuai Liang always planned to take the grandmaster title from Bi-Han
Kuai Liang attempted to (and would have) killed Bi-Han but was interrupted in doing so
He's eager to fight Bi-Han, while Tomas is reluctant
He seems to have always held very little love for Bi-Han, if any at all, although he claims they used to be close once
Harumi:
Does no one else think it's a little bit suspicious that the woman Kuai Liang ends up "falling in love with" is a capable fighter and head of her own clan, someone with exactly the resources, knowledge and means to provide Kuai Liang with everything he needs to build his own clan? He even names the Shirai Ryu after Harumi, a clan whose goal it is to take down Kuai Liang's hated brother, someone Harumi probably knows little about or never even met. Maybe I'm the only one to think that's kind of messed up and not a romantic gesture, but at least he's giving her some credit, right? Does Harumi lead the Shirai Ryu with Kuai Liang or did he take her own clan from her to build his own? I couldn't really find any information regarding that but it would be even more messed up if the Shirai Ryu are originally Harumi's clan that Kuai Liang simply took over.
Another weird detail is how Smoke calls Harumi Kuai Liang's "good friend" in his own ending, which makes you wonder if he left the Shirai Ryu before Kuai Liang and Harumi became a couple? Does he know Kuai Liang doesn't actually love Harumi? It's confusing because Tomas is the person closest to Kuai Liang. Shouldn't he be the first to know if his brother fell in love and is planning to get married?
Kuai Liang's reaction when Kitana congratulates him on his marriage is rather cold as well. He doesn't seem like a happy, newly married man and it makes me think their marriage wasn't necessarily out of love, at least not on Kuai Liang's side.
How Kuai Liang treats Harumi:
There's not enough known about their relationship yet to really know if Kuai Liang's love for Harumi is genuine
He benefitted a lot from his friendship with her when creating the Shirai Ryu
It's strange that Tomas only calls Harumi Kuai Liang's "good friend"
Final conclusion:
Kuai Liang seems to follow a pattern of binding people to him emotionally (Tomas, Harumi... ) to be able to use them to his own advantage. I'm not saying that he doesn't care about them at all, but first and foremost, they're assets to him and family second.
For someone who claims to care about honor, Kuai Liang sure has very little of it. SPOILERS: The fact that Kuai Liang is willing to let Bi-Han die and deny him treatment when he gets infected with chaos magic says a lot about the type of person he is. How is it honorable to kick a man when he's down? How is it honorable that he wants to kill Frost during his own wedding and Harumi has to beg him to spare her life?
To get this straight, this is not an attempt to paint Kuai Liang as the epitome of all evil or to say he doesn't care at all about the people in his life, just that he's much more cold and calculating than people give him credit for. Just because Kuai Liang has chosen the good side while Bi-Han went down the wrong path doesn't necessarily make him a nice person. He's still vindictive and selfish. He still shows toxic behavior.
I know someone will try and twist this post into something it isn't, so let me say this is NOT a personal attack on Kuai Liang fans or an attempt to spread negativity, it's just my opinion that you're free to disagree with. I blame the writers and their obvious bias for Scorpion that Kuai Liang's bad traits are so often overlooked. This post is only me sharing my thoughts. If it offends you, block me. I don't want to see this reblogged with paragraphs from people trying to defend Kuai Liang.

omg omg hi, I don't know what to request, I simply am happy that you are back.
Hmm.... Something with subby Aemond... Could you elaborate on the collar (you said that it needed to be something that he would never have to take of, so somethin simpel like a necklace). What if he lost it during battle? What if his wife also started to wear jewelery as a symbol of their partnership? Like maybe exclusively saphire pendants or something like that.
thx xoxo
Thank you for the kind words!! I'm very glad to be back.
Honestly I can't really remember the ask you're referring to (if someone finds it could you tag me or something? I'd love to reread it at some point), but I'll never turn down an opportunity to chat about collars or any sort of jewellery representing dynamics so I'm very happy to discuss thoughts about Aemond and collars/jewellery :))
This answer isn't explicit but since it's very very clearly sub!aemond I'll add a cut to be safe. Enjoy lads!!
So firstly I think Aemond would absolutely love to have something that felt like ownership? He wants to be yours, and he wants a physical reminder of it.
I think maybe you first saw a glimpse of this desire the morning after your first rougher night with him? He got up before you and you awoke to the site of him standing before a mirror and tracing the outline of the scratches on his hips and the bruises on his collar bones. At first you think he doesn't like it and offer to call the maesters to see what will heal it quicker, but he shuts that down immediately.
He gets all squirmy and blushy, not quite being willing to meet your eyes and eventually you manage to get out of him that he really likes the marks. For a few weeks it goes on like that, with you ensuring to leave marks on him because he seems to love it.
Eventually you start to realise he loves the physical reminder, not only of what happened when he got those marks but also as a reminder that you love him, that he's yours. You really only put that together when you realise how protective he seems of any evidence of you? He tells off the servants who move your brush back to your private quarters, he keeps your favourite book on his nightstand even though he never reads it.
The first thing you offer him to try and meet this need is maybe just a piece of a clothing item? It happens while the two of you are walking together, far away from Kings Landing. Aemond often asks you to come out on Vhagar with him, simply to fly somewhere quiet where no one can hear you.
You're walking along a rocky terrain and you put your foot wrong and nearly fall. You catch yourself, but your shirt or dress gets caught on the branch of a small bush. You don't mind the tear of course, it's of no real consequence, you have plenty of other clothes back at the red keep anyway. But Aemond seems distraught about this? He asked you to come with him and now you're ruined your clothes because of him.
You end up taking your knife/dagger and cutting the torn piece of fabric off so it's not just hanging. That action seems to upset Aemond even more, since now the tear can't ever be sown back together. That is, until you take his hand and tie the fabric around his wrist, telling him that there, now the fabric isn't going to waste.
You do it mostly as a silly thing, not something you expected him to seriously cherish. But the following day he still hasn't taken it off, and he doesn't take it off the next day nor the day after that.
When you ask him about it, he actually panics a little, mumbling about how you gave it to him and please don't take it back. Repeating that you said it was his, he wants to keep it.
Which... sometimes Aemond truly is one of the most sensitive, sweet souls in all of the seven kingdoms. You promise him you will never take it from him, and tell him you're glad he likes it.
A few weeks later you present him with a bracelet inspired by the piece of fabric. Except the bracelet is made of dyed leather, iron and jewels, not fabric. It's in the same colours as the fabric, but this is made to last must longer. Aemond cries for a solid twenty minutes when you give it to him. It takes him nearly a week to stop tearing up every time he looks at his wrist. And yes he knows you're already married and you already wear rings and whatnot, but that was an arranged marriage. He didnt love you back then, he didnt want to be yours back then. To him the wedding rings show the world he is married, but the bracelet is just for him, just to show him that he belongs to you.
Needless to say, he'd be absolutely distraught if he lost it.
It would definitely have to be lost in battle, because that's the only time he wouldn't automatically notice if the bracelet isn't around his wrist. When he does notice, his stomach drops. He feels so... exposed? He gets back to kings landing as quickly as possible. When he walks to your chambers he has his other hand around his wrist, like he's trying to hide not having the bracelet on.
Of course you're not at all upset with him. He returned from battle unharmed, that is all you care about. But despite that, he can't settle without it and you can't let him go back to flying the largest dragon in the world when he can't even think straight. You end up cutting another piece of fabric out of one of your clothes for him, this time cutting it long enough that you can wrap it around his wrist three times before tying the ends together.
You can see the way he relaxes once it's done. He leans against you, mumbling his thanks against your neck.
When he leaves again, you arrange for a new bracelet to be made, but this time you decide to get more than just that. You also get two necklaces, one short and one long and then another bracelet made as well.
You present the replacement bracket together with the longer necklace to Aemond when he returns. He had been hoping and praying you'd give him another bracelet (part of him feared you'd be so disappointed that he lost the first one that you wouldnt get him another and that would just break him).
He's entirely shocked when you give him the necklace, and even more shocked when you show him that you had another one made for yourself. When he looks closer at the necklace then he gets confused at first, because it doesn't match the bracelet and necklace you got him? It's made of the same metal, but yours have sapphires.
When he asks about, you simply run cup his face, stroking his cheek under his eyepatch. You watch as his other eye tears up at the realisation of why you chose what you did. He adores it, and he's so so gentle when he puts the necklace and bracelet on you, his hands shaking so much that he has to stop and try again.
You always wear the necklace, and Aemond adores seeing it on you, especially in public? In private he'll often run his fingers over the sapphire, even lean down and kiss it. But in public, just glancing at you and seeing it is more than enough to make him smile.

The real 'glow-up' is all mental.
With it being the prime season for the 'how to glow up' guides to make their rounds in the media we consume, it is always worth reminding yourself that the only way you are going to 'glow up' on the outside is if you 'glow up' on the inside.
I personally get annoyed with the whole glowing-up phenomenon because it perpetuates this idea that there is some kind of 'end goal' in life and once you reach it, everything will be perfect. In a world where the idea of what it means to be attractive, intelligent, successful, or desirable in any way is constantly changing, there is only one constant: YOU.
You are a lifelong investment, and you are worth every penny, second, and ounce of effort you put into yourself.
Let's go over some of my glow-up tips and habits for you this year and examine how much of your levelling-up will really need to take place in your head.
Invest in your hygiene. This doesn't mean buying the most expensive skincare and having a 30-step routine, this means brushing your teeth every day, taking showers regularly and looking after your hair. Of course, we all want to achieve that 'clean girl aesthetic' but to me, simple hygiene is the best way to send a message to your body and mind that you care. Nothing says "I love you just the way you are" to your body like taking the time to clean it, care for it and pay attention to what it needs.
Invest in your surroundings. Now I know, making your bed every morning can be an unnecessary waste of time, especially if you're just going to end up getting back into it at night, but I like to think that my surroundings reflect my mental state, so if my room is a mess, best believe my mind is a mess too.
Invest in your interests. Start a hobby, pick up a new skill, try to find a book that interests you, or even start a Tumblr blog 😉😉! This year, I am focusing on really cultivating myself and becoming an interesting person who has things to talk about with people, instead of mindless gossip or resulting in self-deprecation to entertain others.
Invest in your happiness. Do what makes you happy. Distance yourself from those who seek to pull you down, to prop themselves up. You are worth so much more than that. Sometimes, those people are in our households, and the only way to cope is to know what makes us feel good and chase that happiness. Know that whatever issue you are facing shall pass and you will feel good again.
There is a common belief among people who may struggle with their self-image that once they fix this, or change that, everything will be perfect, but as someone who has had that mentality, it won't. If you want to lose 10kg for example, but hate your current body, waking up skinny tomorrow won't fix that voice in your head that tells you that you're still not good enough. If you love yourself as you are, and acknowledge that exercising is a form of self-love, and it doesn't take away from it, that mental glow-up will begin to manifest itself physically.
What's the point of others complimenting you daily if you don't believe it or can't accept it because you don't think of yourself the way that they do?
Trust me when I say this, my biggest milestone on my 'glow up journey' was not losing x amount of weight, but looking at myself in the mirror, first thing in the morning with no make-up or styling, and still being able to say "Damn, I'm so beautiful." And I can confidently tell you that to reach this point, I didn't set the intention of losing weight and trying to become more beautiful, I set the intention of loving and accepting myself the way that I am and all the actions that followed after stemmed from this love that I have. I didn't feel the need to exercise because I wanted to be skinny, but because I knew that it was what my body needed, and I loved my body so much that I was willing to do that for her.
It's easy to get wrapped up in so many things and lose sight of yourself, but when that phone is off and you're all alone, disconnected from the rest of the world, what do you say to yourself?
P.S. If you're reading this thank you all for the love on my first post! Opening Tumblr every day to new notifications has created this sort of excitement and extreme joy that I didn't even know was possible! Stay safe and take care of yourself 💗💓

We're back! again, if these silly recaps help lift your mood in any way, it makes me very happy ♥ I baked chocolate chip cookies for this so imagine I'm sharing them with you 🍪
previously, in harrowcita del 9:
this happened
also @unexpected-tigers linked me to an official house quiz and I did it so, if you want to know what I got and how I answered, I'll add it under "read more" after the recap
CHAPTER 44
listen, I need to start listing things I got right and things I got wrong but I forget at this point what I said
you're gonna have to remind me if I got something right and I didn't catch it because I remember what I got wrong more easily than what I got right
such is life
I'll do my best to try to tally but
I got wrong the narrator, I assumed that, because they were insulting harrow, it might be harrow too
but I forgot about gideon also being a pro at insulting harrow so, guess what?
IT WAS GIDEON
WELCOME BACK, BABE, WE MISSED YOU
CRYING TEARS OF JOY
of actual joy, not mercygirl-joy
to be fair, the narration was very different from gideon's perspective, to account for 1) the twist and 2) the fact that gideon's gideon-ness came out more and more as she got closer to the surface of perception in harrow's body
something she kind of explains later
but yeah, I got that wrong
however, I did get the purgatory situation of canaan house somewhat right and I forgot to mention it last time
ANYWAY, BACK TO GIDEON
CUE 'I AM THE BEST' BY 2NE1 IN THE BACKGROUND
someone stabbed harrow from the back, which is very shitty behavior from whoever it was
so gideon comes back into the real world with the immediate danger of her vessel, necromancer and partner in crime having been stabbed
and she was "left behind" because harrow is back in her canaan purgatory river bubble
with her ghostie ghoulie friends
gideon immediately finds out that harrow can't fight for shit
she's determined to kick the stabber's ass but it's gonna be hard when she's used to her massive guns and ninja warrior disposition and she's inside the body of a baby kitten
gideon's very eloquent commentary is "Fuck. Oh, shit. Oh, fucking hell. Help. Yuck. Aaaargh."
it's so nice to have her back :')
she's talking to harrow in the second person, as she's been doing all this time unbeknownst to those of us who didn't catch it
"which proves that you can put the swordfighter into the necromancer but you can't, wait, hang on"
god, I missed her
gideon is also coming to terms with the fact that harrowcita has regenerating abilities now
she is very angry at the awful state in which her two handed sword is
if you knew, gideon, about the relationship between harrow and your sword and how layered it was...
"Harrowhark, I gave you my whole life and you didn't even want it"
so gideon starts taking control of the situation because the beast is chasing them
absolutely no chill over here in the emperor's bolthole
and by "them" I mean gideon and harrow because idk where the everliving fuck everyone else is
I know the emperor is hiding in weenie hut jr but the rest are supposed to be fighting
except for whoever was going around stabbing people
and idk where not!dulcinea is at this point either
maybe someone's using her to stab harrow idk, I'll never stop blaming her for things, even indirectly
gideon is doing a great job with what she has available because she's "a good girl and you're an evil nun"
she's also still going on about harrow leaving her behind and saying "you never got rid of being so absolutely fucking goddamn sad"
chisus christ gideon, tell us how you really feel about her
gideon looks at herself in the mirror and sees harrow with her eyes and her expressions, which is very uncanny valley
"This was your shell, but it was all filled up with me. God, the double entendres were hard to resist"
yandere twin would appreciate that one, I think, maybe
gideon proceeds to taunt harrow to come back by using her voice to say things like "Oooooh, Palamedes. I am measurably less intelligent than you. Put your tongue in my mouth and I'll flop my tongue against it."
"Ohhhhhrr, Gideon. I was so dumb to think a tub of ancient freezer meat was my girlfriend. Please show me how to do a press-up. Also, I'm very obviously attracted to y—"
no no, by all means, go on
please, gideon, go on with that idea, let's see where it takes us
in other important but not as spicy events
gideon cuts the beast thing in two with her own sword
but now we've got the heralds to go through
"Don't worry, honey. I'll keep the home fires burning."
same energy as
CHAPTER 45
we're back in hotel california canaan house au river bubble
I'm sure that description makes it all super clear for anyone reading
abby and her hubby are taking harrowcita to the secret hideout of the lost boys aka the room behind the tapestry that is now untouched by the body horrors going on in this version of canaan house
and where all our ghostie ghoulie friends are hanging out
it was a person's room, says harrow, and I think we all know it was alleged gideon's aka ortus, but we'll get to that
I need to point out the fact that harrow says she always thought not!dulcinea showed signs of "suppurating ego" but that she could never convince gideon to "see past the appealing eyes and softly clinging dresses"
I KNOW, GIRL, IT DROVE ME FERAL TOO
apparently harrowcita's invite also got to the kids of the fourth but abby sent them back to the river with a kiss in the forehead and their lunch packed
because she had adopted them, as we all know
she said "if only Silas had asked me, what has happened to his soul worries me horribly"
of course I didn't remember that silas was mayonnaise uncle and had to do math for a while in my head
maybe he's out there looking for duracell bunny nephew's soul that is still travelling through the river
abby learned a way to send them back into the river but everyone present wants to help deal with this haunt situation harrow's got going on
honestly, props to martita for hanging around, judith is a lot less cooperative
abby also thinks there's something wrong with the river and that the emperor is unaware of it because he doesn't know about the river beyond
she has studied a lot about it
and that the fact that the "beyond the river" concept has been looked at with scorn by everyone for so long has made the potential studies of it stagnant
I love her a lot at this point
I mean, I'm still 100% a camilla girlie, I'm putting camilla's photo in one of those glittery clear files and covering it with heart stickers, don't get me wrong, but this woman is fierce af
abby, you know more than the emperor, you're more worthy than he is, please murder him
NOW IT'S TIME TO GET EMOTIONAL
GRAB YOUR TISSUES
IT'S ORTUS TIME
man, ortus won me with this chapter, he's great, let's keep him
let him be happy in the infinity of time with his fifth polycule
harrow tries to tell him that he doesn't have to apologize to her, that she owes him for crux murdering him and his mom
(interlude for "her unconscious gracelessness to Camilla Hect; a girl whom, in reality, she should have taken by the hands and thanked her profusely for every time she tried to save her cavalier")
(glad we're in agreement there)
they talk about how gideon died and ortus tells harrow that gideon never did anything without intent
"she had been outplayed by Palamedes Sextus, outgunned by Cytherea the First, undone by Gideon Nav"
damn, harrow
LISTEN TO THIS PART YOU FOLKS
"I should have offered help. I should have died for you. Gideon should still be alive. I was, and am, a grown man, and you both were neglected children."
ORTUS, MY MAN
THIS MADE ME SO EMOTIONAL
"she and Gideon had become women before their time, and watched each other's childhood crumble away like so much dust. But there was a part of her soul that wanted to hear it —wanted to hear it from Ortus's lips more, even than from the lips of God. He had been there. He had witnessed."
"I will hope better for heroism in my death"
ORTUS I'M HOLDING YOU TIGHT AND CARESSING THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD LIKE A PUPPY
harrow finds the "g&p" note
GUESS WHAT
GUESS WHO WAS RIGHT ABOUT THAT
ALLEGED GIDEON IS ACTUAL GIDEON THE FIRST
AND HARROW THINKS OUR GIDEON WAS NAMED AFTER HIM
I mean I had trust in my alleged gideon theory BUT I CAN'T BELIEVE I CALLED THE OTHER PART MAYBE TOO???
sixth house please accept me
she also finds another note, similar to the rant notes she had been finding, which reads: "the only thing our civilisation can ever learn from yours is that when our backs are to the wall and our towers are falling all around us and we are watching ourselves burn we rarely become heroes"
are the letters clues on the angry spirit that's haunting harrow?????
does it relate to gideon???
but when harrow is about to ask ortus about gideon ("less like tragedy and more like carelessness" 👀) abby interrupts
abby, interrupting me again when I'm getting to the good stuff
but I can't be angry at her because she says she'll exorcise the Sleeper
YOU GO ABBY, YOU LORRAINE WARREN THAT STUFF
And that's where we leave it for today!!! my willpower is strong and I know I can't make these too annoyingly long. Which is why, if you wanna know how I did with the House quiz, look after "read more". If not, see you for the next one!!! Super soon!!! Sending you all hugs in these difficult times ♥
So, this is the quiz that I did, the official author-made one.
I GOT *drumroll* A TIE BETWEEN THE SIXTH AND THE FOURTH
The author said that, in the event of a tie "Pick the House descriptor most like yourself, or most like the person you secretly wish you were, or with the colours you like best."
We all absolutely know where I'm going if I'm left to pick between those two.
To be totally transparent, I'm gonna show you my very messy notes, which I wasn't initially planning on showing, so I apologize for them not being neat and tidy. I added the skull I have in my desk as aesthetic compensation for the messy handwriting.
I picked 1st the pen and flimsy because, if I'm doomed and this is it for me, I want to go out writing. The bottle, because I considered a vessel for separating things or for keeping something in safely would be useful. The rapier, because I always take a swiss army knife in my purse with my keys and the rapier was the closest thing to that. The flare gun, because I might as well try to signal somehow, at least some of us could get saved. And the raft not to try to escape, like the answer said, but because if we're more than one person in the boat, having more space, even if somewhat leaky, could help out for different situations.
I did consider every potential option that could be turned into food but I'd rather die of something else than food poisoning of any kind.
I got the Fifth in second place, and I wouldn't have minded if I got the Fifth, honestly. In 3rd place I got Seventh and Eighth as a tie, I'm not gonna ask about that. The Second got fourth place, the Third got fifth and 0 points for the Ninth, I'm so sorry.
You should have seen my face when I saw a portrait of the Emperor was an option to take with you lmao

ok, I am relatively new to this little fandom but I binged Cinderella boy and I'm just wondering... did everyone forget about that one part where buddy has this dream and he's in ragged clothes in a fancy manor house? Like, no wonder the man likes looking fancy. if that's Ex Libris and that's how they keep him, of course he likes looking good. maybe it's because he doesn't have the chance to otherwise?
also did everyone just forget that bit existed because I'm scrolling through and I'm seeing nothing on buddy seeing chase in the mirror, shattering the mirror, and jumping through. That was deeply impactful and yet I can't figure out what and i've been hyperfixtaing on that for a while now. Can you give me a rant about that bit because I know there's something up there I just cant figure out what, am I the only one who read that part?
This is so funny to me. I'm so happy you got into CB! And I'm so happy you enjoy it! But LMAO I think the Dreams episode broke tumblr--there were so many speculations and it's the basis for like 80% of our Buddy theories! (People analyzing the episode is what caused me to make a tumblr account in the first place, actually!)
(Which! Since you're new to the fandom, I can understand how it might look like we missed it, but I promise--this fandom soaks up Buddy content like it's water and we're in the Sahara)
So since it's a dream, we have to assume a lot of symbolism--we know the outfit Chase wore in his dream was a representation of himself (likely a nod to his repeated selfless, angellic actions, like trying to save Buddy or trying to save his mom), so we can assume the same for Buddy.
He's likely not actually dressed in rags--although we don't have that confirmed, but based off of Chase's fit--but it's possible that he ISNT dressed in the fancier outfit we saw him wear earlier. It's really likely, actually, although we shouldn't discount the possibility that Punko wanted him dressed so simply to reflect how dim/bare his situation is.
Someone (I cant remember who, but if anyone does know, PLEASE @ them bc this was life-changing) pointed out that if that's the case, then Violet would have been making outfits for Buddy the whole time, which would cement Buddy having a good relationship with his key well before Chase. We can assume Buddy has a good relationship with Violet anyway, since she makes him outfits he likes, but still.
The rags also serve another purpose: it reminds us that Buddy is ALSO a protag. That's what Chase realizes, in his dream, and it's what we have to keep in mind when we read the chapters. Buddy's not a side character, nor an antagonist. This is his story, too, and he's trying to secure his own happy ending, just like Chase.
(The title of the Webtoons is Cinderella Boy--and in that episode, between Chase and Buddy, only Buddy looks like Cinderella. Another nod to his true role as a protag, and another reason why we need to treat his attire with caution.)
What the dream DEFINITELY confirms is that Buddy has a bad relationship with Ex Libris. There's really no plausible alternative--from how frantic he is to escape, and how afraid he is of being caught. Beach Boys set the question of whether or not Buddy's in a bad spot with Ex Libris, but we didn't know how truthful he was.
We still don't, really, since he still hasn't told us, 'cause he's a paranoid asshole that we tragically love. But this episode laid some facts: Buddy is definitely in a bad situation, regardless of the specifics.
Plus, the final scene of him throwing the clock at the mirror, effectively destroying the reflection of Chase--clocks are often a representation of time. He's running out of time. There's a time limit, somewhere, but we don't know anything except that the clock's ticking.
(Someone else pointed out the clocks/time thing before me. I swear, I will hunt these @s and give proper citations.)
His escape via the mirror likely refers to his real motive: Buddy wants to escape, and he's aware his escape is going to involve, to some extent, harming Chase. From here, it's pure speculation: does Buddy need the keys to escape, thus betraying Chase? Does Buddy know something important? Is the mirror, or Buddy's escape, in any way tied to how he finds Chase in the books?
It's VERY likely that the keys are critical to Buddy's escape, due to the lock with 12 keyholes. This would also ensure the plotline of Buddy's strive for the keys remains intact, and would give us another reason for why Buddy was so desperate for Chase's key. HOWEVER, this isn't the only theory, and we know Punko's always two steps ahead.
The episode feels symbolic and important because it IS, but until we know more about Buddy's actual situation, it's hard to really break down what the episode means. I promise, though: the more we learn about Buddy's backstory, the more people (including myself, because i cannot shut up) will refer to that episode to swoon over the foreshadowing Punko brilliantly laid out.
#cinderella boy#chase hollow#stargoth#there is SO much in that episode#that i'd need to sit down and literally go frame by frame#and i might do that later#AFTER we get more info--so i can find the foreshadowing too#i feel like im forgetting so much about this episode#but i do recall going absolutely feral when it came out#it was my fav episode actually#if anyones like#yo Pali you completely forgot about This Important Thing in the ep#then ill add on!!#lmao can yall believe im supposed to be studying for the mcat

I know that it's very popular but I don't really like much the idea of Damian being murderous and super serious with his family and a sweetheart with Jon and maybe friends.
I find it stupid.
I do smile and think it's cute when I see Damian being cute with him, but the idea of him being the biggest and baddest assassin ever when not around him just, doesn't make sense to me?
I think Damian hugs his family and gives them gifts and can be a sweetheart with them.
He'll cling onto Bruce and be carried around like a small child because he probably adores the affection
He'll laugh at Dick's shitty jokes because he knows it's sort of Dick's crappy way of showing affection and Damian pays back by laughing
Sure, he won't flat out laugh a lot in the beginning until he's very comfortable with him, maybe a not frown, then a little twist of lips, then a small smile and soon enough he's giggling like a kid who really admires his older brother and will laugh at whichever stupid shit he does (me fr fr, I'm usually acid and don't laugh a lot but I swear to god, my brother makes a funny face I am dying with laughter)
He bonds with Jason and they sit on rooftops late at night, talking about the League and Talia and Bruce and getting used to it and they sit in the library and read together and Jason presents Damian his favourite books and Damian gives him animal themed bookmarks that he drew himself and Jason picks one for each favourite book and they both adore it.
With Tim I think it'd be a bit slower but once the breaking point is reached they'll be thick and through. They'd probably bond over some smart people thing or discussing theories or smart people things, maybe attack strategies or languages (though languages sort of are Bruce's thing) or homework or skating.
Sometimes Damian can't sleep and he doesn't want someone worried (Dick or Bruce) over just some insomnia and he'll knock on Tim's door and they don't need to say anything because Tim can see it, he sees it on the mirror every day, how could he not recognize it?
So he opens the door and lets him in, Damian sits on the bed and Tim grabs the extra pillow that has the density Damian likes but Tim can't stand. The pets come in after a bit but by then they're already both asleep.
I don't know how to write Steph, Cass or Duke or nobody else, so please add to this with bonding with them and Damian.
Tim will be some days playing videogames and he'll tell Damian about his favourite ones and the kid probably adores animal crossing and Minecraft. And every time they fight they'll meet in the Minecraft world when they're ready to make up and they'll make up.
With Alfred it'll be more subtle, it'll start with Alfred learning Damian's favourite dishes from home and Damian will absolutely learn how to cook to give him food too. He'll give him hand painted aprons, cup holders so the towels and table cloths don't get wet or stained (yes they're animal themed let the boy be autistic & obsessed I am projecting fuck off) and he'll absolutely paint Alfred pictures of Thomas & Martha, and pictures of the current Waynes and he hangs both together.
I can add more, I certainly can but my bus is almost at my stop.
So heading over to Jon.
With Jon he'll start out careful and demon brat-y because that's how he is with strangers.
He'll eventually warm up to him, laugh at his shitty jokes that probably remind him of Dick in the beginning until he realises that isn't the affection show, that's a way to try to get Damian to smile which probably pisses him off in the beginning but he does warm up to it.
What he realizes is the affection show is physical touch and quality time so Damian endures that because he himself ends up growing affectionate towards him and he appreciates it and then he ends up enjoying the physical touch and quality time too.
I personally see Damian as a gift giver & menacingly gets rid of your troubles (acts of service).
So he'll give Bruce gifts, he'll give him things to collect and trinkets and things he made himself.
He'll give Dick art and things Dick wanted to buy or whatever.
He'll give Jason books and bookmarks and probably weaponry.
He'll give Tim tech things and alien stuff he probably stole and when Tim gets sick he'll absolutely do all his homework and Wayne stuff
He'll give Alfred aprons, cup holders, mittens, seasonings, books, ties, tea sets, and anything Alfred lets on that he likes and paintings of people Damian knows he loves.
He'll make animal themed things, paper weights, bookmarks, decorations, computer set up decorations, he'll paint their jackets (Jason probably came up with that once he saw a cool jacket and asked Damian if he could paint something similar).
He'll gift Jon flowers and also pet themed shit because yes and other useless shit Jon probably appreciates.
He will also do things to help them out.
Maybe one day Bruce gets down to the cave and finds the whole place organized and the reports he had spent weeks delaying are all done and the ones he has to read has resumes on top and there's fresh coffee ready and there's a new cup holder under his favourite mug.
Jason goes to the library or his apartment or his room and finds a brand new hand painted wooden shelf with his books meticulously organized the same way he'd organize them and there's shelf nook thingies (those decorations themed to book worlds) of his favourite books and he knows damn well Damian did those and there's a note on the bookshelf telling him to pull a specific book that Jason wouldn't really read and he pulls it and there it is, hidden, all his criminal stuff which was previously shoved into the closet.
Dick will find a book with animal jokes on his desk and maybe new kitchen utensils and a cook book and a new coffee maker on his apartment and the place is suddenly cleaned up and a set of new cup holders
Tim will find info on people he's been tracking or whatever, if he's sick all his homework is done and set into a neat pile, Damian will absolutely clean everything up and organize it and Tim also gets a new coffee maker and new cup holder
Alfred he can't really help much so he'll help by setting the plates together after dinner and helping remove the table cloth, he'll clean any dirt he sees before Alfred does.
With Jon he'll help him do his own homework because Jon is probably more interested in knowing how to do it rather than having it done and so, Damian will help with it and teach him tricks and things to do
And don't fool yourself for one moment thinking he doesn't give them all nicknames.
Sure, Jon's beloved.
Alfred's is grandfather in Arabic don't let him find out he already knows
Alfred's is probably grandpa in Arabic or something he doesn't call Ra's by. Don't let him find out. He already knows
Tim will probably be spleen because Damian will absolutely make fun of him for it, but correct me if I'm wrong, I saw it on a Tumblr post I have no real sources, but I think Arabs give nicknames that are like organs or something? So Damian will nickname him spleen either in English or another language first sort of as bullying sort of you're important to me and then it'll turn out a caring nickname
Jason I don't really know which would be but probably some nickname Talia could've given him while he was in the League and Damian copied or something like that.
Dick I don't know either, maybe something to do with Robin and maybe the circus but I don't know.
I know both of them are nicknames probably in the same style as Tim's.
Bruce's dad in Arabic because I'm clichê, let me be.
Alfred's is probably grandpa in Arabic or something similar since he won't call him the same thing as he calls Ra's, and don't let either find out. Alfred already knows
I know it's very characteristic for him to call them by last names but understand my boy was not comfortable and familiar with them yet.
I'm sick and tired of people seeing Damian as murder child instead of child because that's what he is
Jason wasn't the angry Robin, Dick was, so maybe Damian can be not murder Robin. I'm sick of that shit
Let the child be soft. He soft. He squishy. He animal lover. He artist. Yeah, sure, he's a trained assassin, he's super smart and well trained but have you considered that I don't give a fuck about cannon
Also Talia and Ra's and the assassins were darlings with him fucking fight me I'll punch whoever wrote them otherwise
He spends holidays with the other Al Ghuls however the hell holidays work for the total amount of Damian's relatives
Let my boy be soft and squishy and child because he may be totally Jon's boyfriend but he wasn't tamed by Jon.
His family loves him and he loves them back.
#damian wayne#jonathan kent#jondami#bats#batfam - some#bruce wayne#jason todd#dick grayson#tim drake#fuck you whoever invented damian should be angry and a demon brat#also that's a loving nickname nowadays#and i forgot to add his friends but he has them and specisl treatment for them too

Just a list of things i am going to obsess over for the next two weeks about episode 3:
•"7 years of computer science for this?" HUHH?? KINGER YOU WANNA SAY SMTH? ALSO ALSO Ohhhh i can hear the theorists
•i love Martha(the ghost wife) tho? Like i want Ragatha-Gangle-Jax's side of the adventure now (i bet it's a just gonna be a ton of gossip and I WILL eat that up)
•the monster/angel thing is actual nightmare fuel i regret watching this at night
•when kinger saw the monster and seemed enamored by it i thought it has the power to remind people of their past or something. Now I'm just hurt because people pointed out that the monster-angel thing reminded kinger of his abstracted wife.
•kinger glows in the dark. he seems to remember things better in the dark. Huh
•Is jax the only one who can fourth wall break besides caine? is that gonna be important or is that just a running gag??
•kinger held his wife when shes already abstracted and didn't glitch.
•abstracted queenie calms down according to kinger. From his flashback she didn't appear hostile unlike kaufmo in ep 1. Does that mean they're not really that far away from saving?
•the part about zooble and hating their body. i can't wait for zooble's episode. I love them so much and would love to see more of their chracter development
•the animation in the part where you can only see pomni and kinger's eyes IS SO *Chef's kiss*
•i think when zooble keeps saying forget it caine takes it literally because he's an AI
•"Please don't come alive" "ok I won't" that caught me off guard
•no thoughts just that one frame of bubbles wearing Caine's top hat
•noticed some papers on the desks with drawings resembling abstraction
•gangle doesn't really do much in this episode but she is there and i love her. You're doing great sweetie.
•also can't wait for the time we touch upon the fact that caine is constantly dipping in and out of the rabbit hole of existential crisis
•Kinger doesn't even like bugs back then but Queenie got him into entomology. I am so sorry but I will never stop talking about them
•I love what Kinger told Pomni about cherishing those around you. It really mirrors the end of episode 2 and how she's starting to realize that there are people that do care about her in the circus.
•Pomni thanking Ragatha for always looking out for her 😭
•They tied jax up lmaoooo
•"In this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved"

On Ba Mhee and Tae as a couple (as of ep10)
I did not like Ba Mhee and Tae's relationship; it was clear they both cared deeply about each other but didn't know how to show it in a way the other could see and appreciate. Tae had explicitly asked for space and patience during this period of their relationship (three months is not that long!) and Ba Mhee was unable to give it. She was disruptive at work to the point of Tae breaking the external drive and getting in trouble (which was of course worse because he didn't just tell his boss about it). She put in a lot of effort, but it wasn't always asked for or wanted, and Tae was appreciative but not demonstrative in ways Ba Mhee noticed, and she channeled her worries about their relationship into being clingier, until she flipped and instead started channeling it into her interest in Judy. That being said, Tae was always invested in this relationship. He talked about their future together as a couple. He worked so hard to make sure they could have a good anniversary dinner, and he didn't tell Ba Mhee because he didn't think he had to--he hadn't noticed her anxiety and distrust about his own feelings.
When they broke up, Ba Mhee had cheated, but it was Tae who did most of the apologizing. I didn't like that Ba Mhee hadn't seemed to done much self-reflection or owning up of her part in their breakup other than the cheating itself, which she blamed on how Tae had made her feel. She had made assumptions about his attention to her, and ignored the evidence to the contrary (e.g. Tae staying up to go on calls with her or working while sharing a ride to to the office was seen as him not being around enough rather than him taking moments he didn't have to spare to be as with her as he could during a time he'd warned her he'd be busy), and then channeled that loneliness into another person rather than having a conversation. It felt like there was more for her to do, but I didn't understand how we were going to get it if the show was moving on.
But it wasn't moving on! And this is why I'm thrilled with today's episode. Ba Mhee got a taste of what dating her was like; someone who does things for you "for your own good" because you "need" them to without asking. Judy was worse at it than Ba Mhee was, because she was replacing things Ba Mhee liked with things she doesn't--and that has me wondering whether Judy did any of that intentionally, because it's literally Judy's job to notice what people like and don't like and to cater to their needs, so it's strange she would have gotten this so wrong for someone she likes so much. Either she intentionally mirrored Ba Mhee so that Ba Mhee would self-reflect, or Judy sees herself in Ba Mhee so strongly she could not really see Ba Mhee at all, or Judy's the only character in this show without thought-through motivations [I doubt it's the latter and I am really hoping we get insight into her character soon]. And Ba Mhee realized that what she wanted wasn't someone who was a better fit for her than Tae, she wanted Tae. And that's valid; Ba Mhee's speech about nobody being perfect for another person is so correct, and relationships are all about working through those rough edges together. But the feelings don't disappear just because you find an incompatibility.
Tae in the meantime has already demonstrated that he was trying to be on his own without Ba Mhee. He had an alarm on his phone to drink water because he wasn't answering her texts so she wasn't reminding him before they'd even officially broken up. He is struggling because he's heartbroken, not because he can't be independent. He follows Pah around because the editing department has a lull, and he needs to keep occupied. He misses his girlfriend of just shy of four years. And when his friends suggest he fight for her, he makes an attempt at asking her out again.
The reconciliation scene this episode had them both agree to try. They were both better about articulating their needs and feelings in ways the other could hear. That being said, Ba Mhee did say she wanted things to go back to the way things were, and Tae's situation has not changed re: how much time he has to commit to this relationship right now (though the internship is about to end so this caveat is short-lived). I'm not mad about that though, because the show has seeded future growth/reflection in Ba Mhee already--she's interested in her job in a way she has never been previously, and her realization re: how Judy's treatment of her didn't feel good even when it was well-intentioned will (I hope) give a different perspective on her own behaviour and have her change it on this second go-round, in addition to better communication which she's already doing now. And Tae is now more aware of Ba Mhee's feelings and what those gestures for him mean to her, so he can be more careful about being dismissive when she tries to be open about her feelings.
I'm still pretty agnostic about whether or not Tae and Ba Mhee should end up together. But I am really loving the growth arc these two have been on as part of this couple, both while together and apart, and I have confidence in the show that their growth is not over.
#the trainee the series#bl meta#typed so that i can stop thinking it#i would have loved more time apart for them#but the show is signalling that they'll be doing more growing as part of this second go-round and I love that too

Ajax did not mean to overhear the argument. Sincerely, one hundred percent, overhearing the argument was the last thing she meant to do. But she happened to be passing by the room on her way back from the bathroom and the yelling was loud that close to the door and...Well.
Ajax didn't love yelling.
So.
She stopped. For a second.
You know. Just to make sure everything was okay.
It became pretty obvious it was Swan and Mercy - made sense, she was stopped in front of their bedroom after all.
"-don't need to!" Swan.
"He fucking cat-called you!" Mercy.
"Yes, I am well-aware! That did not give you the right to throw a can in his face!"
"You weren't doing anything about it!"
"Nothing needed to be done!"
"Something did! You deserve better than that-"
"You cannot start a fight with every man who disrespects me, that's ridiculous-"
"I'm sorry, is this a regular occurrence?!"
"We live in New York!"
"He's affiliated, he needs to fucking know better. What would Cleon say?"
"That I didn't have my colors on? And I cannot stress how little that is the point."
"Whatever."
"Where are you going?"
"Smoke. We'll talk about this later."
"Wha- Wait, Mercy-"
There was a moment of quiet. Then, Mercy, softer, but loud enough for Ajax to still hear: I still love you."
And Swan, small in a way that caught Ajax completely off-guard and reminded her of someone, though she couldn't put a finger on who: "I love you, too."
Ajax barely managed to rush five steps down the hall before the door opened, throwing herself into the living room in a desperate attempt to not look like she had been eavesdropping. The look of complete bewilderment and exasperation she earned from Rembrandt from almost crushing Cowgirl on the couch told her she did not entirely succeed.
"Jesus, get off me," Cowgirl grumbled, shoving at Ajax.
Ajax settled on the couch when Mercy walked in, shrugging on one of Swan's corduroy jackets and fiddling with a packet of cigarettes.
"Where you goin', Mercy?" Cochise asked.
"Roof. Smoke," Mercy jiggled her cigarettes. "Anyone want to join?"
She shouldn't. She really, really shouldn't. "Yeah. Need one."
"You literally just sat down," Cowgirl said.
Ajax ignored her, though she caught the slight furrow in Mercy's eyebrow. Mercy did not say anything, though, as they left the apartment and hiked up the stairs to the roof. Once there, it was quick work sitting with their backs against the small ledge and lighting up their respective cigarettes, Mercy letting Ajax borrow hers.
"Heard you threw a can at some guy's face today," Ajax said. Because she had no impulse control.
"Where exactly did you hear this?" Mercy asked.
Ajax shrugged. "Around." At Mercy's unimpressed look, "The door is not that thick."
"...Wait, did you hear us from the living room?" Mercy asked. Looking more than a little concerned that-
Oh.
Fucking great.
"No. I- I was standing outside your door," Ajax said.
Mercy blinked. "Why?"
"...Heard shouting. Wanted to make sure everything was okay." Ajax hated this.
Mercy sighed, heavily. "Yes, I threw a can in a guy's face. Go ahead, lecture me, gonna say the same shit that Swan did, probab-"
"Good for you," Ajax said instead.
"What."
Ajax shrugged. "Cat-called your girl. He earned a can to the face. Especially if he's affiliated, Swan's not a nobody."
"Can you please tell Swan that?!" Mercy exclaimed. "She thinks I overreacted!"
"Oh, you definitely overreacted."
"But you just said-"
"I agree with the overreaction, which should tell you something," Ajax said. "It already happened, I'm not gonna sit here and say you shouldn't have done it, but Swan's gonna be pissed about it and Cleon wouldn't be too happy either."
Mercy groaned, slumping against the wall. "This is stupid." Then, "I'm stupid. I didn't even mean to throw the fucking can, it just happened!"
Ajax laughed, low, "Yeah. Definitely been there."
"What if it was Rembrandt?" Mercy asked. "What would you have done?"
"It's been Rembrandt," Ajax said. "And- yeah, I've thrown worse things than cans. And Rembrandt gets mad every time."
That was when it clicked very suddenly. Who Swan sounded like at the end of her and Mercy's argument.
Rembrandt.
"Rembrandt says it scares her when I do that, because there's so much that could go wrong," Ajax said.
Mercy took a moment, before saying, "Swan said the same thing." Then, "Does Rembrandt do that thing where's she's like, its not about your ability to do whatever, but I get freaked out and blah and it makes you want to never do that thing just so she doesn't look at you with that sad, scared, puppy face ever again?"
Unfortunately, Ajax knew exactly what face Mercy was talking about, "I hate that face."
"I do, too." Then, "I mean, it's a cute face-"
"Adorable."
"But it's so sad and makes me feel like a monster."
"Scum of the Earth."
...
"Ajax. Has your girlfriend been giving mine lessons on how to guilt me into not being impulsive?"
"I really cannot think about that right now, I'm too focused on the fact that I have way too much in common with you."
"Does that mean we can talk about that silent agreement you and Swan have that involves you never letting me punch people?"
"Yeah, no, that was a verbal agreement with Cleon, because she thinks you're going to be snapped like a toothpick."
"I held my own against the Furies!"
"...You had a bat."
"...I can get another bat."
"Absolutely the fuck not, that is a terrifying idea, neither of us need bats and fuck you for making me the responsible one."

Here's a bit of a funnier drabble to make up for all the angst lol

Drunken Mistakes
charles leclerc x reader x george russell summary: in the aftermath of a breakup, y/n and charles try to reconnect, but y/n makes a mistake, leading to a heartbreaking confession words count: 3k warnings: mentions of alcohol
The argument that led to Y/n and Charles' breakup started innocently enough. Charles had noticed his girlfriend was focusing on her job so much that they barely had time for each other. He couldn't remember the last time she attended his race.
"You never have time for me anymore." The man said. "I feel like we're growing apart."
"Me?" The girl scoffed. "Let me remind you, during the season you're in a different country every weekend."
"That's my job, Y/n, I am a formula one driver in case you forgot. But now the season is over and I want to spend time with my girlfriend."
"You knew what you were getting into when we started dating." Y/n argued, her tone defensive.
"You used to come to the most of my races!"
"Work has been tough, there's a lot to do." Her eyes avoided his gaze.
"Why do you care about it so much? It's not like you need money, I could buy you anthing you want."
"This isn't about money, Charles. It's about my career, my ambitions. I have goals too, you know?"
"But what about us? I miss you, Y/n. I miss us."
The room fell into a heavy silence. Y/n could see the pain in Charles' eyes, mirroring her own sadness.
Charles spoke after a moment of silence. "Maybe we're just not right for each other."
Y/n felt a lump in her throat as she searched for the right words. At one point she questioned if she heard that right. Charles was breaking up with her.
Charles regretted his own words, but his pride wouldn't let him take them back. He knew breaking up wasn't the only solution
Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes, but she tried to hold them back. "I never thought it would come to this." She admitted, her voice cracking.
"Sometimes, people change. Maybe we're just not the same people we fell in love with." Charles' voice was tinted with with sorrow.
In the following days, the space between Y/n and Charles grew wider, both emotionally and physically. They lived together, so the girl decided to pack her things and move out. It was hard, but not impossible to find a place in a matter of hours. And thanks to being hardworking, she didn't have to worry too much about the cost.
The problem was, she kept seeing Charles everywhere, in all social medias. Even after unfollowing each other, Y/n kept seeing news about him, pictures from events. The constant reminders made moving on way the more challenging.
In an attempt to break free from this loop, Y/n decided to put herself in a different kind of atmosphere. One night the idea of using alcohol as a temporary remedy for her heartache crossed her mind.
Dressed for the occasion, Y/n stepped into a bar. It was full of people, too many people for the possibility of being recognized by someone she could've known.
"What can I get you tonight?" The bartender asked as the girl sat down on a stool by the bar.
"Surprise me." She replied, a smile playing on her lips.
As the bartender began making a drink for her, Y/n allowed herself to look around the room. It was then that her eyes caught sight of someone familiar approaching her.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Y/n!"
George Russell. Not a close friend of Charles, but certainly an acquiantance of his. Y/n exchanged a word or two with him in the past, but didn't know him as well as she knew Carlos or Lando, who were closer with her ex-boyfriend.
"Nice to see you, George," Y/n sent the man a smile as he sat down on the stool next to her.
"What brings you here?" He asked, a curious glint in his eyes
"Needed to change my routine a little," she replied, accepting her drink from the bartender.
"How have you been holding up? Charles mentioned the breakup to me, but I didn't want to pry."
Not to mention it was all over the media, Y/n added in her thoughts.
Y/n sighed. "It's the reason why I'm here, what do you think?" She took a sip from her drink.
George leaned back, a sympathetic expression on his face. "Breakups are never easy. I can imagine it's been tough for you."
"It's the adjustment, you know?" Y/n continued, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass. "Getting used to the idea that the person you once shared everything with is now just a memory."
The man nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I've been through a few breakups myself. It's never easy."
Y/n found herself drawn to George's charm and the way he made her feel understood. His presence carried some kind of comfort that eased the ache in her heart.
George on the other hand, catching a glimpse of Y/n's eyes, found himself captivated by the vulnerability. The girl let herself be so open, talking about her breakup and the pain it brought.
"You know what, Y/n? Let me get you another drink." George said, a playful twinkle in his eyes.
Y/n smiled. "Sure, why not?"
George leaned against the counter, engaging in a brief exchange of words with the bartender, later turned his attention back to Y/n. "I've got this one," he declared with a charming grin.
The atmosphere between the two of them grew intimate as they continued the conversation with another drink. A subtle connection lingered between Y/n and George.
In a moment of unspoken tension, George's eyes met Y/n's with a hint of something more, longing for an intimacy that went beyond mere conversation.
Their faces drew closer, the anticipation building up. Y/n had come to the bar seeking a distraction and it seemed she was on the brink of finding it.
A moment of silence embraced them, a comfortable one. One in which drowned even the ambiance of the lively bar. The music, still loud, became a distant background.
Y/n closed her eyes, preparing to connect her lips with George's. But just as their breaths mingled, George hesitated, pulling back.
Instead of diving into a kiss, George surprised her by leaning back and asking, "How about we continue this conversation somewhere a bit more private?"
Y/n looked at him. "Like what?" She asked.
"My place is somewhat close."
Y/n's curiosity and the unspoken tension between them pushed her to agree. "Lead the way."
The city streets seemed to sway gently around Y/n and George as they made their way to his place. The night air carried a cold breeze, but the warmth of the alcohol kept them unaware of it.
Arriving at George's place, the quiet hum of the city outside was replaced by the comforting cosiness of his home. The dim lights embracing them in a romantic atmosphere.
George turned to Y/n after locking the door. Not moving from the hallway, they smiled at each other. George walked closed, causing Y/n to step back and eventually her back touched the wall.
Y/n's hands landed on George's shoulders, pulling the man even closer. Their eyes met and soon after that, their lips connected in a short kiss.
A quiet, tipsy giggle escaped from Y/n's mouth. George gently grabbed the girl by her wrist and led her into the living room. Sitting down on the sofa, he placed his hands on Y/n's hips, causing her to land in his lap.
As they embraced the tipsy intimacy, the living room became a sanctuary for yet another kiss. One that lasted way longer. One that had their clothes scattered around on the floor.
Closed curtains successfully stopped the morning light from getting inside the room. Y/n opened her eyes. She slept wrapped up in George's arms, so she carefully detangled herself from his embrace to sit up. Of course she didn't drink enough to not remember what happened.
Although she wished she did. A mix of guilt and regret washed over Y/n as she looked around. The cosy atmosphere that felt so comforting the night before now seemed to emphasize the reality of the situation.
Her eyes landed on George who was still peacefully asleep. Y/n didn't know what to do, she's never been in such situation before.
Water. She needed water. Her throat felt like a desert.
The girl quietly walked to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of tap water. Somehow, her phone was on the countertop. She grabbed the device to check for any missed calls or messages left without a reply.
Her heart sunk when she saw missed calls and a few texts from Charles. What could he have wanted? Y/n hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether to return the calls or respond to the texts. The weight of guilt intensified as she listened to Charles' voicemails.
Hey, Y/n, it's Charles. I know we're broken up and you probably hate me, but something kept telling me to call you. Call me back when you can, I miss you.
If you're not up for talking, just send me a text to let me know you're okay. I care about you and I want to make sure you're safe.
Y/n, it's Charles again. I'm not sure what's going on, but I've been trying to reach you all night. I just want to make sure you're safe
Y/n, it's Charles. I've left several messages, and I'm starting to think the worst. Please, just give me a sign that you're alright. I care about you a lot and not knowing is really getting to me
"What have I done?" Y/n whispered to herself. The guilt consumed her, overshadowing the moments of happiness she successfully looked for the night before.
Anxiety started to build up in her chest and her eyes were starting to get a bit watery. She hesitated, but eventually decided to return the calls, hoping George won't wake up to witness this.
"Y/n, where were you? I've been trying to reach you all night." Charles questioned.
"I needed some alone time." Y/n began, stammering a bit. "I don't have to explain my choices and actions to you, especially now."
There was a heavy silence on the other end of the line and Y/n could almost sense Charles processing her words.
"Y/n, we need to talk. This isn't fair to either of us," he finally said.
I don't wanna see you ever again, Y/n wished she said. Her words came out a bit differently however. However, her words came out a bit differently. "Fine, let's talk." Because no matter what she did, she missed Charles.
"Could you come over today? It's so, I don't know, weird to talk about it on the phone."
"Sure. When could I come over?"
"As soon as you can, maybe? If that's alright for you."
"Give me an hour or so, I'll be there." And with that, she hung up.
Just as the conversation was finished, George walked into the kitchen. He looked at Y/n with a warm smile that gradually faded as he sensed the tension.
"Morning," he said with a rasp in his voice, "are you okay?"
Y/n sighed, running a hand through her hair. She decided to be honest with George, he deserved it after all. "We need to talk about what happened yesterday."
"Yeah, about that..." he scratched his neck, "I don't want to give you any kind of hope or-"
"Wait, what? Was it meaningless to you?"
"Ah, here it comes. Well, I'm not looking for anything... romantic. Not now. We can do what we did last night more often, but no strings attached."
These words gave Y/n a sense of relief. "You don't know how glad I am that this didn't mean anything to you."
Y/n's confession hung in the air, creating an awkward pause between her and George.
"Are you being sarcastic?" He asked. "I don't want to complicate things further or lead you on."
"No, no sarcasm at all. Actually, I've just talked to Charles on the phone."
"Oh, and? What did he want?"
"He was worried, tried contacting me last night too many times. And... well, I'm meeting him today. He wants to talk."
"Ah, that's never good. Do you think he'll want to get back together?"
Y/n took a deep breath. The answer was yes, she did expect Charles to get back together. However, she didn't know if she should tell that to George.
Considering the silence on Y/n's side, George continued. "Do you wanna get back together with him? It didn't seem like it last night," a sly smile appeared on his face.
"I... I'm not sure, George. Charles and I have a history and there are feelings involved, but things have been complicated lately." Y/n replied, choosing her words carefully.
"Relationships are messy and figuring out what you want is important. Just be honest with yourself."
With George's words echoing in her mind, Y/n gathered her thoughts and headed to meet Charles. She stopped by her own place beforehand to make herself look decent.
"Hey," he greeted her, as he opened his door to let her in. There was an expression of concern on his face.
Charles didn't look better than Y/n that morning. His hair was disheveled, he looked as if he wasn't able to get good sleep in the past few days nor did he shave his face.
"I was worried sick," he admitted, "what happened? Why didn't you answer earlier?"
"Jesus, Charles, I was busy. Besides it's not very ex-boyfriend of you to call me a thousand times in a row."
The air inside the apartment felt heavy. In an awkward silence, Y/n and Charles settled on the couch.
"I care about you, Y/n. Damn it, I love you." The man broke the silence. "I don't think the breakup was a good idea."
"Well, it was your idea..."
"I make mistakes, we all do, but it's nothing that cannot be fixed, right?"
You're gonna hate what I'm about to tell you, Y/n thought. She could see the sincerity in his eyes and it made her feel so much guilt.
"Charles, I... I appreciate your honesty and I care about you too," she began, "so I need to tell you what happened yesterday."
Charles ran a hand through his unkempt hair. "I know we had issues, but I still believe we can work through them. I love you, Y/n, and I can't just let go."
Y/n took a deep breath. "Don't say that."
"Why not? That's the truth, I love you and I've never regretted anything as much as I regret breaking up with you."
"Charles, stop." Her voice raised slightly, but then she lowered it back to normal. "I did... something last night and... It was a mistake, but it happened, I cannot hide it from you."
Charles nodded. "Then tell me, but I swear nothing can change my mind."
"Okay..." Y/n hesitated, looking for the words that would hurt the least. "Last night I went out, drank probably more than I should've and I... ended up spending the night with someone."
Charles didn't reply for a long time, a mix of shock and hurt crossed his face. The room seemed to close in on Charles and Y/n as the silence stretched.
"You... you what?" Charles finally said, his voice a fragile whisper.
Y/n felt her chest tighten as she faced the consequences of her actions. "Charles, I know this is difficult to hear and I'm so sorry. It was a drunken mistake, I didn't realize what I was doing."
"Do I know him?"
"What?"
"Do I know him?" His voice raised. "If you told me you did it, you can tell me who you did it with."
Y/n hesitated, realizing the added layer of pain she brought. "It was someone you know," she admitted, "George."
"George? George Russell? Really?" Charles's voice carried a tint of anger and hurt. "You could choose any guy, but you decided to go for him?"
"I didn't plan it, it was a mistake and I regret it."
"And you have the audacity to come here, probably straight from his place?"
"You wanted to see me."
"I had no idea you fucked Russell!"
"You said we can work through our issues. It's not a mistake that cannot be fixed, right?" Y/n pleaded, her eyes starting to tear up. She was surprised she managed to keep herself from crying for so long.
"I don't know anymore, Y/n," Charles sighed. "I love you, but I don't think you realize the weight of what you've done."
"I understand, Charles. I truly am sorry," Y/n cried, her voice shaky with emotion.
"No, Y/n, just stop. I can't believe this is happening, I need time to process it. I think it's better if you leave."
Y/n felt her relationship with Charles crumbling beneath the weight of her mistake.
Charles's gaze was distant, the pain in his eyes echoing the depth of his hurt. "Y/n, I need time to figure out if we can move past this. Right now it's too much."
Tears started to slowly run down Y/n's cheeks as the reality started to sink it. "I never meant to hurt you like this, Charles. I love you and-"
"I need space, Y/n," Charles said with a heavy sigh. "I need to process everything. Please, just go."
It felt like a dagger through Y/n's heart, but she nodded. Deep down she understood it. With a heavy heart, she stood up, casting one last look at the man she still loved. She left Charles to deal with the aftermath of their mutual pain.
Each step away from Charles felt like a step into an uncertain future, leaving behind the comfort of what was familiar. Y/n couldn't shake the guilt and regret that devoured her, questioning if there was any way to fix what she had broken.

The trailer is just. Gorgeous. In every way. The feeling of dizziness, infinity and confusion it gives is impeccable, i love the way everything flows together, i love the gorgeous 3d models and the horror of not really knowing what's real and what's fake. And ofc Japanese Shmilk is ohhhh my god 😳😳😳
Ok so pv doesn't appear to be going alone, he's accompanied by GingerBrave, Strawberry and Wizard who appear a bunch of times, and White Lily, who in pretty sure only appears in the beginning. But in a lot of scenes pv is alone, making me think that he's gonna get separated from the rest after some point.
With the epic releases we've had accompanying the beast and awakened ancient releases, there's been a pattern of the first epic being someone who's on the beasts side and second being someone who's on the ancients side. It's only happened twice though so both of Shmilks epics might be on his side tho. The cookie with dark hair gives me butler vibes. The one with white hair looks like the type of character who appears cute and sweet, but it's secretly fucked up, sorta like Haetae. That's all i can say about them for now
Other than that, the rest of my thoughts are pretty scattered, so let's see
1. Love the music
2. Love the chess and the taro cards and the circus and the eyes theming. Not enough mirrors tho
3. Love whatever the hell this thing is
I really really hope we get some answers about either Blueberry Yogurt Academy or Dark Moon Magic, ideally both, which is what i think this is about
4. This Cookie reminds me of Crimson Moon Acolyte but i may be tripping lol
5. If anyone still had doubts about whether we were gonna get glimpses of pre corrupt Shmilk, i think it's pretty obvious now that we are
6. If this update doesn't make pv's character any more interesting to me I'm gonna be sad (i think he's boring)
7. Again. Where the heck White Lily gone
She appears at the start a couple of times, but the very next scene after the puppeteer one, she's gone. She also doesn't appear in later instances of the rest of the gang appearing, then running up the stairs, getting sucked into the nefarious vortex and on the chess scene. I wonder if Shmilks gonna gaslight pv about that, knowing how important she is to him. Plus Blueberry Yogurt Academy connection again
8. THE STAIRS. I've been listening to Stairwell by Nick Lutsko religiously waiting for this update you don't know how happy i am to see the goddamn stairs. This song to me is from Shmilks pov, singing about pv and "she" is Lily
9. Since when is Shmilk snake-coded. I'm living for it tho
10. I just realized i think the reflection is showing a Shmilkified version of pv. New costume anybody? (Don't have too many hopes for this tho lol)
11. The title screen, again, is gorgeous, probably one of my all-time favorites
So what can we see here? Once again, like with the other beast updates, the presence of the beast is overwhelming, and the hero appears small and insignificant. We can expect this turning the other way around in the second half of the update, though i imagine it will be a bigger change than with Mystic Flour/Dark Cacao and Burning Spice/Golden Cheese. Simply because i can't see pv being in the same position as sm here tbh
We only see one of the new cookies? Where's the second one?
There's cutouts of the other ancients in the picture (and they appear elsewhere in the trailer too) which makes me think that, just like Shmilk compares pv to his past self, he's gonna do that shit about the other ancients too. Just to say like ohhh you have this potential to become evil too you know, all of you.
My theory from a while ago was that Shmilk was gonna show pv the past of the beasts, showing that they too were good and driven by a desire to help others and spread kindness, which could make pv sympathize, because he's a softie like that. Which would then either corrupt pv or make him want to try to "redeem" the beasts and want to help them, which the beasts could obviously abuse. From The devs pov, that's a good way to hype the fans and tease pre-corruption costumes, which i think are 100% coming at some point. (Btw i don't think the coty costume Mystic is gonna get will be her pre-corrupt one, simply because i think that's planned regardless. She's gonna get a different, unique one. Plus, coty costumes are legendaries I'm pretty sure, and i think pre-corrupt costumes are gonna be epics, maybe specials, but deffo not legendaries. Watch me be wrong tho). Similarly to how Dark Cacao got so miserably helpless in his story and Golden Cheese was so physically and mentally drained in hers, i think Vanilla will be in a similar state before awakening too, but he's gonna have to break out of the illusions Shmilk feeds him, so maybe like. He's gonna get very very close to corrupting as a result of Shmilks influence. I hope I'm making sense here lol
12. Last thing i think. The decor set is gonna be sick

my stand in final thoughts, feelings, etc.
what an absolute ride of a show. what a series of ups and downs and downs and downs and up.
i think what i find so charming about this show is that it really exemplifies what it means to be human. each character was flawed in their own way and each made mistakes that at the end of the day were just human mistakes. no one felt like a mustache twirling villain but rather a flawed human being that got caught up in something bigger than themselves, or caught up in their own ego, hubris, etc.
in a show that was clearly framed to be about second chances i really did not expect the wide array of examples of different second chances in life - the obvious being joe and ming, but then there was joe and new!joe's mother, ming and his mother, tong and may, joe and sol, etc. almost everyone experienced a second chance of some kind with one another. almost all second chances worked out towards a positive outcome but i respect that some were neutral outcomes at best; a total reset. a second chance doesn't always mean total forgiveness and absolution but rather a new slate to try again and i really appreciate that MSI made it a point to showcase that.
i am also once again grateful that the show did not fall into the evil mother trope. i was gritting my teeth waiting to see what became of ming's mom and in the end both she and joe's mom were parents doing their best, wanting the best for their children, and stumbling along the way - another perfect example of humanity.
i couldn't even come to fully hate tong by the end. the industry inflated his ego, he felt indestructible, he was able to get anything he wanted with his connections, and he allowed that confidence to turn to hubris and got involved in something far bigger than himself. a scared, cornered beast will almost always lash out and at the end of the day tong was lashing out for any chance of survival. he needed a wake up call of catastrophic proportions to get his head on straight but throughout the show they did show us reminders of how much he loved may, little glimmers of who he was behind all of that, and by the end when he was able to find peace those traits shone through again.
and with ming i appreciated that he still felt like the same person. he was still an asshole, still rough around the edges, still who he was at the beginning of the show but his efforts were channeled elsewhere, his priorities changed, and he learned what he truly values out of life. joe didn't magically change ming, but he did alter his perspective and give him so much to consider.
i still cannot fathom the pain joe has to go through every day looking in the mirror and knowing he will never see his face looking back at him. the show teased little peeks of the affect this would have on his mental health and i wish it had maybe delved into that more but mental health is always a slippery slope.
for the grit and darkness of the show the ending felt a little too fairy tale for me but i was also kind of hoping joe didn't come back. i know, horrible of me, but if i was him? i don't think i would've come back. he had to be so, so tired and he'd been through so much, that part of me wanted to see that happen as a final nail in the coffin, a message that sometimes death comes for us no matter how hard we try to run from it, and sometimes death is a kindness at the end of a long and painful journey.
idk i'm also a slut for angst so ignore me.
i wasn't mad at the ending by any means, i enjoyed the little nods to potential side couples, i loved seeing things come full circle, loved joe's realization that while HE always saw himself as a stand in or someone overlooked everyone else remembers his past self fondly and he made an impression on them. in the end, so much of joe's self worth issues were his own insecurities exacerbated by ming's emotional abuse.
that being said, don't forget to tell people in your life how much they mean to you. it can mean a lot more to them than you can imagine.
definitely think MSI is my fav bl of 2024 so far, it was something unique and a little darker, more mature, all things i've been craving for a while.

I stumbled into the bathroom, barely keeping a hold of myself long enough to let the door close behind me. I felt like I'd been stabbed in the chest, a knife twisting into my heart as tears streamed down my cheeks. I grabbed the edge of the nearest sink to steady myself, and was reminded instantly of everything that had driven me in here in the first place.
The sink cracked under my grip. Goddamned superstrength. Goddamned heightened emotions. I sobbed harder as my gaze caught the crushed corsage on my chest, and the whole world spun out from underneath me as I sank to the floor. Stupid fucking vampires. Stupid fucking vampires.
The bathroom door flew open, jarring me out of my oncoming spiral. I whipped around, then scowled when I found none other than Rebekah Mikaelson standing in the doorway. She and her family had caused most of the worst problems I'd been dragged into dealing with lately, including the one that had turned me into what I was now.
A monster.
"What's the matter with you?" Rebekah asked, a frown on her face and absolutely no sympathy in her voice. Normally, I think I would've told her to get lost, or else ignored her altogether. But right now, my emotions had already hit their tipping point. I needed to explode. I'd been hoping to do so privately, but thanks to Rebekah, that officially wasn't going to happen.
"What's the matter with me?" I demanded, the words ripping free of my throat almost painfully. "It's my last ever prom, and I was trying to take the opportunity to tell my boyfriend of the last four years and the love of my life about vampires. About me. And instead, I almost fucking killed him!"
Rebekah frowned, taking a step forward and letting the bathroom door close behind her, but I wasn't done yet.
"And, of course, I tried to explain. I tried to apologize, to get my shit together and have the conversation I'd been planning to have, but it didn't matter. He called me a monster, told me he couldn't love me like this. And who the fuck am I to argue with it? My heart's shattering, I can't ever escape this feeling, and when I was trying to hold onto something to ground me, I ended up completely crushing the beautiful paper corsage my little sister made for me because I can't control myself."
I choked back a sob as everything washed over me again and again and again. I whirled away from Rebekah, but that ended up putting me facing the mirror, which just put the broken sink and crushed corsage back to the front of my mind. I doubled over, holding the sink and not caring this time if I broke it further, sobbing harder. I could hear Rebekah taking a few steps closer to me across the floor, but I ignored her, the words and emotions continuing to pour out of me whether or not I wanted them to.
"I never wanted to be like this. To become this. And now I've lost one of the most important people in the world to me, although it's not like I wasn't going to lose him eventually. Someday I'm going to be sitting at my sister's deathbed, still a goddamned teenager when my baby sister goes. And no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get my brain to stop thinking about that. To stop thinking about anything, ever! There's no peace, no rest! Just the constant noise, from my own thoughts and emotions and from everything in the world that's suddenly a thousand times louder. I can't think over the sound of the music outside, and the people talking, and the fucking owl hooting in the woods! I can hear all of it, and I can't stop thinking, and I keep breaking things, and I just... I don't know what the hell to do! About any of it!"
With that, I sank to the floor, turning as I went to put my back to the sink. I burried my head in my arms, pulled my legs up to my chest, and sobbed. I didn't care if Rebekah saw me like this; I couldn't. I couldn't get a breath of air in, there was no space left for embarassment.
I heard Rebekah's heels clicking over the bathroom tile, louder than all that background noise that refused to leave me alone. I felt her crouch down in front of me without looking up, and I braced myself for whatever she was about to say. Something terrible, almost for sure. Good. Maybe fighting somebody would help me with the storm of razor blades swirling in my chest right now.
No sooner than I'd had the thought did I feel Rebekah reach out and put her hand on my shoulder. I glanced up at her, the surprise of the action enough to jar me out of my thoughts for just a second. She looked sympathetic, which I didn't actually think she was capable of.
"You need to take a deep breath, love," she said, her voice perfectly calm and even. I scowled, ready to start the fight myself if she didn't seem to want to, but she continued before I could get a word in. "I remember how this feels, alright? It's been a while, but... it's not something you forget."
I frowned. She seemed completely sincere, and her heart beat steadily in her chest, although I doubted an Original would be careless enough to let that give away one of their lies. Rebekah sighed, apparently noticing my suspicion, but still, she reached up to brush a tear away from my cheek. I shivered at the touch.
"First of all... you learn to block out the noise, eventually. It helps to focus on one at a time, or just one that you're willing to let in. Focus on it completely and intensely, until it takes up your entire attention. It helps the other things go away, and after a lot of practice, it just becomes second nature to tune out the sounds you don't want. Try it. Focus on the sound of my breathing."
My brain protested, but almost on reflex, I did as she said. Her breathing was quiet, which made it harder to hear over the noise of everything else. Still, Rebekah did her best to help me, taking deep, steady breaths without any effort to be quiet. Slowly, I managed to hear it more clearly, and like she'd said, the other things fell away. I naturally found myself breathing in time with her, too, which might have been part of her goal. For the first time in days, I felt a moment of rest and peace.
"Well done," Rebekah said softly. Her hand had returned to my shoulder, and I focused on the feel of it, along with the sound of her breathing. "After a while, you learn to control your strength too."
"Doesn't change what I destroyed before I learned how to control it," I bit out. Rebekah just gave me a lopsided smile, like she'd been expecting the protest.
"But think about everything you can do with it once you do learn to control it. Or even before! Do you know the number of times I've broken a man's hand when I found him forcing himself on a woman in a bar? It's been one of my favorite hobbies in my immortal life."
I couldn't hold back the slightest smile and laugh at that. While the crushed corsage from my sister still broke my heart, becoming some kind of avenging protector like Rebekah had suggested certainly had an appeal.
"And if you choose not to turn off your emotions, you'll get used to those too," she continued after a moment. I shook my head.
"I won't turn them off. I swore I wouldn't. I've seen too many of my friends cross lines they never would've dreamed of before making that choice."
Rebekah gave me a small smile. "Well then, good for you. I think you'll feel you made the right decision, especially when the good things come. It's true, the heartbreak feels like it may well and truly kill you. But you also feel positive heightened emotions. I promise you, some day, you'll feel love and joy stronger than any human could even dream of."
That got me sobbing again, although it was more from being overwhelmed than anything else. Rebekah scooted closer to me, wrapping one arm around my shoulders. I buried my head in her chest, refusing to let the doubt creep in about why she was doing this. Whatever her motives, it was helping, and it was exactly the lifeline I needed right now.
I leaned back once I'd gotten a slightly better hold on myself, and Rebekah gave me a soft smile.
"I have a bit more of a speech I'd like to give, if you don't mind the risk of it making you cry again."
I huffed another laugh that was still half-sob.
"Go for it."
Rebekah brought her hand up and wiped away a few more tears as she continued.
"I take it you've already decided you wouldn't turn your sister for anything? Not even for eternity together?"
I let out a sound of disgust. "No way. I'd never, never put her through this. Especially not for such a selfish reason as not wanting to lose her."
"Well, you're far better than quite a few vampires I know, then," she said, giving me another little smile. "But think about this: you may be at your sister's death bed one day, but you'll also get to watch over her family. You'll see her kids grow up, and you'll be able to take care of them, support them, and protect them over and over again, for generations. Every loss will hurt, but as long as she remains human, you'll never run out of family members to love and support. I truly wish I could say the same.
"Look, I won't lie to you," she continued. "I'd give everything up to be human tomorrow, if it were possible. I miss... just about everything that comes with that life. But the life of a vampire's not all bad, either."
I took a long, deep breath, surprised to find I actually believe what Rebekah was saying to me. I met her eyes, and for the first time, I didn't see a danger or an enemy. I saw somebody kind, despite how long she'd lived, and despite how hard she tried to hide it.
"...Thank you," I said. "Seriously. I... I needed to hear that."
"It's not a problem, love," she said, her hand still resting on my shoulder. "I've... been where you are. I wish I'd had somebody to help me through it all. I'm glad I could pay it forward, even to someone who seems unable to hold back from helping the Salvatores and their little band of righteous idiots."
I snorted. "And I'm glad I didn't just pick a fight with you to try to feel better. This was much more effective."
Rebekah huffed a laugh, and the sound was like music. She stared at me for a few moments, a faint smile on her face, then she spoke again.
"One last thing?"
I shrugged. "Sure."
"As for that idiot who dumped you... there are much better options than him out there, especially if he gave up on you so easily. I've barely spent any time with you, and I can still see that you're worth waiting out a few bumps in the road. If he couldn't see that, he's a fool."
My heart raced in my chest at her words, excitement and nerves completely overriding my earlier devastation. Then Rebekah slowly leaned in towards me, and I swear, I almost had a heart attack.
She gave me more than enough time to pull back as her eyes glanced to my lips, but I didn't. Instead, I leaned forward, meeting her just as her hand came up to cup my cheek. The second our lips met, fireworks exploded in my chest. I'd never, ever, felt anything like this before. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced.
Time seemed to stop as Rebekah kissed me, and even though I felt fairly certain it was only a few moments, it felt like much longer before she pulled gently away. She gave me a little smile that made me absolutely confident she knew what I'd just felt; she knew this was my first kiss as a vampire, and that she'd just perfectly managed to illustrate her point about the positives of heightened feelings.
Rebekah stood, leaving me absolutely breathless on the floor. She turned back when she reached the door, pausing just for a moment.
"Feel free to come find me if you need to talk again. Or if you want to spend your time with someone a little more interesting than your little Mystic Falls gang and that idiot you called a boyfriend."
She shot me a wink, then disappeared out the door. It took my heart a lot longer than I'd like to admit to calm down. I focused on taking deep breaths, like Rebekah had recommended, and slowly, the emotions returned to a manageable level. Once they did, I was a little surprised to find that an absolute head-over-heels crush on Rebekah was the overwhelming and strongest remaining feeling.
I still had a lot of problems to deal with, and a lot of things to process. Doubtless, acting on literally anything I felt for an Original Vampire would cause at least fifteen new problems. And yet, I didn't care. My entire life had exploded tonight, and she'd somehow managed to comfort me with a single conversation. That was something nobody in my life had managed so far, and that no one in the Mystic Falls gang had even really tried. After everything I'd dealt with tonight and in the few weeks since I'd turned, I wasn't about to let someone like that just walk out of my life without a fight, especially not for drama that was barely mine.
