ok bear with me for a sec trying to think how to phrase this

in order to destroy all three glamrocks and get all the upgrades, youre required to stay past 6am for freddy to give you the extra pass. before ruin came out we all assumed this was the canon ending where you would go down to see burntrap. you’re required to have all three upgrades to get down there so it made sense

BUT. we now know princess quest is the actual ending. in princess quest route, you’re only required to destroy two animatronics. roxy (always required) and chica (her route starts in fazerblast -> find vanny hideout -> pq3). you can get the three star ending without ever doing the monty boss fight.

(and even if the player DOES choose monty first, you can still go back to fazerblast post-6am and go straight to vannys hideout ending instead of doing the trash compactor)

anyway anyway. the point is that it is entirely possible in the 3 star ending for one of the glams to have survived. we didnt need all the parts. but we see them in ruin, and ALL of their special upgrades are missing. WHICH MEANS,

gregory found and played the first two games. destroyed two animatronics. SURVIVED til 6am. THEN he went back, saved vanessa, and killed the last band member forrr…the fun of it?? to rub it in?

ok so keep in mind i havent read the book since december (i dont have my own copy) so this might be a bit wrong. im using info from my mind, the movie, the musical, tiktok, and here.

Johnny Cade

so its canon that johnny wouldve ran away if it werent for the gang (starting off strong with dally-johnny parallels OUCH)

the abuse from his parents definitely gave him a fucked up sense on what it means to feel loved

which is why johnny gets along with dally so well, i'll get into that more in dally's part

he 100% thinks that the entire world hates him except for the gang

someone said that he is so sweet its sick, not true. the abuse definitely toughened him up enough that he will be mean to strangers

he canonically is somewhat responsible (going out to the store to buy supplies and giving ponyboy a note)

im saying that because im pretty sure pony says something like twobit and someone else in the gang would forget to buy something johnny remembered

johnny learned that from having to live out on the street sometimes when his parents fought or kicked him out for multiple days

he is the living definition of forgive but never forget

he just wants a home

i personally hc that the abuse started as johnny grew older, maybe when he was 6-8 years old

which is why johnny (especially in the musical) still cares about his parents

because he remembers that they WERE good people

and he hopes to bring them back eventually

going insane thinking about timmy and foopirep rn. they dont have much of dynamic in show outside of timmy being placeholder target of irep when peri isnt around, but god theres so much missed potential

firstly, the two are so much more alike then they realize. two young boys with bitterness for the world around them. theyre failed by pretty much all or most adult figures in their lives (i do think anti coswan genuinely care for irep, but irep is too stuck up to talk to or spend time with them which is why theyre never together onscreen), they got their ass kicked by the school system, always singled out and humiliated by both the students and the teacher, their wishes or evil schemes always come back swinging into their faces in the worst way and they both had certainly less than pleasant experience with the fairy/anti-fairy council that put way too much responsibility on them (we're talking about a child and a baby). think of a scenario where irep lets out on how hes being treated by the spellementary school or anti fairy council and timmy is like "damn thats not okay" and to have a non evil creature like anti fairy say that would mean something, right?

but theres another big thing to think of. timmy basically indirectly is the reason irep exists in the first place. obviously that wasnt his intention and was just something that was bound to happen when he wished for cosmo & wanda to have a baby, but that had to have crossed both his mind and anti cosmo & wanda's. i dont think irep would care all that much, but anti coswan? that would be something to think about. "that little menace that keeps thwarting our evil plans is the reason we have our son that we love so much" they already had some fondness of timmy (though thats a bit incosistent) wanting him to be their godkid and everything and this just brings out more confusing feelings. possessiveness and envy, i would guess.

with timmy on the other hand, i think it wouldve been really funny if at some point when irep was wreaking havoc he would've been like "wait i technically made this thing real, im kinda responsible for it" but also "i cant be too mean to him, hes like my evil godcousin in a way, right?"

Seasonal depression Pony hcs with Darry trying to navigate how to help him?? I have a hc that pony has been dealing with seasonal depression even before his parents died and they always seemed to know exactly the right thing to do while Darry just stuck to being the fun older brother letting Pony tag along with his friends to try and cheer him up BUT now Darry can't really do that (cause... y'know 💀) so he's having a hard time figuring out how to help pony

tbh all these mfs got grounds to have seasonal depression at least one of the gang is always depressed each month, its like a torch they pass around

•before their parents died, darry rlly wasnt THAT proactive in helping him w it. not bc he didnt care but bc he didnt know how to care for him, he would ofc help when he could but ultimately he mostly left it up to soda and his parents to help, which they did

•after their parents died ponys seasonal depression genuinely slipped his mind, he just had a lot going on, so when pony started acting “weird” he remembered it and even then he didnt know how to react to it, he wouldnt b as hard on pony as he normally was but thats just about it, even then he was kinda leaving it up to others (namely soda and johnny) to help w that

•now AFTER johnny died, i feel like we can make the argument that pony has 2 points of seasonal depression, the month all that bs went down and whatever month u hc’d him to already have seasonal depression in, and darry COULDNT just push that to the side, now he’d actually have to confront it

• hes so out of the loop on what to do to help pony bc he hasnt exactly been there and he beats himself up for it, going to soda about it is his only way of finding out what to do and that makes him feel like a failure

•its so awkward when darry tries hanging out w pony to get him outside a lil bc pony KNOWS darrys trying to connect w him and he hates and likes it at the same time. he hates it bc he hates having ppls pity and thats all ppl ever do when their around pony w his seasonal depression, pity him. but likes it cause hey, at least hes not invisible to the guy

•pony told soda about how he feels about that, and soda told him to just give darry a chance. soda didnt tell darry pony said that though, if darry heard that, he would lose a lot of the small confidence he has for this

•i think darry does has his episodes of depression and those r the small times him and pony connect w one another, they both dont go to each other for their emotional problems, so this is more of an unspoken thing that happens between them, they just GET each other, more importantly they help each other to get better, by helping the other, its like they motivate one another.

•from those times darry starts getting a clearer understanding of what to do for pony, he doesnt need people to watch over him all the time like darry was pushing the others in the gang to do, he needs his space only time he actually needs others around is as a push to keep on going, b his friend not a guardian!!!

•before their parents died, pony and darry would regularly prank each other, and i could totally see darry bringing that back a lil bit just to see pony smile. if not, soda and darry bicker and prank each other to see pony giggle

•one of the things darry does is that he draws pics for pony as a lil motivation, but he cant draw for shit and pony thinks its funny. before he wouldve found them more antagonizing than anything, but the drawing is so silly and he sees that darrys rlly trying so he cant get mad

Also note that while I'm aware Levi is a sea serpent and not a land egg eating snake I just wanted to add this in cuz I thought it was funny af. I also like to think he can retract his fangs cuz like technically egg eating snakes dont have fangs (they got no teefs :( )

I also wasnt able to find much clear stuff on this (cuz google is a hellscape) but aquatic snakes still either need a heat lamp or like a heated tank (but i thought the lamp bit In the bonus was funny af)

im super excited for the new sam and max remaster game, so ive been catching up on all the old games and like— is it just me or did telltale give sam internalized homophobia?

like sam was wearing full-on wedding gowns in the tv series but as soon as telltale got their hands on him suddenly hes whispering under his breath at the poker table telling the other guys to keep his relationship top secret

went from “this is my husband of 25 years im so proud of him hes my shooting star” to “this is my bestfriend! hes still my shooting star— but please don’t insinuate we’re together or ill get flustered and barf a little!”

i actually find it kind of funny, but its also a little sad to me. old sam and max had no actual consequences in the world, and telltale brought them to reality just a bit, especially with the devils playhouse. its sad to think that at one point sam was just silly dog character— he didnt have to worry about his relationship too much as a cartoon— but now that his world is actually fleshed-out and the fourth wall is more stable the judgement of the world has hit him like a train

ironically, though, this is actually the main reason im so insistent on them being an actual couple. sam has to actually suffer with the fear of queerness in the telltale series, which he wouldnt have to do if they werent a thing. “theyre just close friends” ok bro why is this grown ass dog man flustered like a school girl cuz you assumed hes dating the guy hes slept in the same room as for like 30 years???? in the tv series, or in hit the road, he wouldve just laughed it off, but the fact it bothers him so much in the telltale games says a lot— not only about how his character changed but about how intentional sam and maxs relationship truly is

now that i'm awake again, some thoughts on the final bit of ds9...:

- big fan of kira and odo's endings. they r so sweet. wasn't too sold on odo returning to the link but i do think it fits the empathy he learns to have throughout the series - though idk. wish the implication wasn't "i'm returning to where i SHOULD be" like your blood family doesn't define you my sweet goop...

- i do really love the final scene with sisko and kasidy. they're so tender... uuuu

- rom nagus. sure? it's a cute resolution... i love quark telling him he loves him. (also love the interactions quark and vic get in the final stretch, underused dynamic imo). all around big fan of quark's resolution. such a sap

- i do like worf's ending is being finally accepted by the klingons but still connected to the people he was raised by. cute

- the o'briens leaving.. that station is going to break in like 2 days. also the way miles leaving was portayed like a breakup between him and bashir is immensely funny to me but it Does make me sad. they r friends...

- .......umm. ezri's ending sucks. not gonna lie. but i suppose i was expecting it for a character who gets tossed around for a season with nothing to do and then smushed against a bunch of love interests...! i think j/e is cute in concept but it is just So out of nowhere and forced on ezri's part. it really does feel like a 'reward' for bashir and that's got some gross implications. i think she really should've gone back to trill to get some time to deal with the whole Suddenly host thing or at least have had some final scenes with the siskos!!! that was her best friend!!! would she not have some connection to kas or jake... do you remember when jadzia was jake's closest confidant in the visitor... that!!!!! or something!!!! i dont know man.

- bashir's ending is Okay, could be a bit better. once again j/e's execution is Ass. i don't mind him staying on the station (though i do think there'd be a few more places he'd be more urgently needed in considering his talent etc etc) - i've seen a lot of people place him on cardassia post ending but i'm not sure i'm the biggest fan of that either? i dont know what i wouldve done with him either LOL

- garak's ending felt pretty impersonal, wish he'd gotten to have one last scene on ds9 closing down his shop or getting a drink with the crew (considering how close he grew to some of these people in the end) but well can't win 'em all. there's always the novel to read!

- sisko was doomed from the start and i knew that but Uouuu. ow.

- the finale was great except for the very last bit - the fire caves & sisko's final confrontation with dukat felt really tacked on at the end. i wish they'd fought a bit more or something. dukat having immediate controlling powers makes the scene lose a lot of tension and i wish there'd been more of a struggle/more time to flesh that scene out! it really does feel like sisko just Shows up and he disappears again. i guess i got my fill with Waltz but i would've expected... More with dukat's ending. also kira should have absolutely been there to maybe witness sisko's sacrifice i think. she should've insisted on going along and getting to see dukat finally get his just desserts. etc. i have thoughts

- i think that is all i can muster up rn. Nog promotion..... kira station commander...... its peak

AAHHHH!!! AAHHHHHHHH DIALTOWN AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay i've had a night to sit on the evil route and put my thoughts together and holy shit dude. ALL OF IT- all of it was so good but i'm obviously (being the callum and gingi guy) going to focus on the callum and gingi stuff. spoilers ahead if you have not done the evil route gooo do it!!!!

i think looking at the worst end of the evil route is best to view through the lens of "the literal opposite of ch3" and also "knowing who milt and marla and all of them are" because - for starters - i think the approach dogman has taken, out of universe, is genius. i know milt and marla aren't ingame mostly for writing constraint reasons, but the specifics of their lives (milt's especially, being basically erased from history) not being something you ever get is really really good because history just... does not remember them!

milt committed suicide but according to dogman that's not even public knowledge, as far as anyone in-universe knows he just disappeared and all of the turmoil that took place is kind of lost to time. and i think knowledge of his name, much less what happened to him, being something you have to dig through paratext and get an easter egg of a fuckin tie-in web quiz to learn, is... probably the experience you'd more or less have in-universe. he's someone you only really know if you're really into the subject.

and to be honest i dont think i would have it any other way, because what the dlc does to you if you're one of those who know is MADDENING. it's everywhere. the hat motif. i have very strong feelings on evil route peter essentially having the exact role marla must have - the conversations gingi has with the narrator, with roger, is soooooo gooooood. it's a subtle background puzzle you get to piece together that (i reckon) also would hit hard for any player who doesn't Know(tm).

(and that also segues into a general feeling i have about the dlc, being that i am not a dsaf guy at all, i was into dialtown first and i have no interest in dsaf i'm sure its great but just not something i think i'll ever look into: for a bit before this dlc i was worried if it would be enjoyable as someone who's not into dsaf or has context for any cameo characters or references - but it was and is :D the characters all exist perfectly in dialtown and the references that exist still have merit on their own and are funny/etc on their own even without whatever added context im sure dsaf gives. which is good and i love it.)

all of that to say, i really really love what this dlc did for so many characters, but especially gingi and callum (and the narrator!) - i love how, as seems to be callum's destiny with maladjusted people, gingi only sees him as an incomplete and biased ideal to strive for. we simultaneously get so much weight and nuance to callum through seeing gingi go down a similar path, but also get so little of it because the only thing gingi cares about wrt callum is him being the "greatest salesman ever" and completely discarding the parts of him that made him anything but an industrial supervillain.

i think it wouldv been easy for it to just be "phonegingi is basically becoming (the worst parts of) callum and so, when they're working with mingus, finds some degree of kinship in the pictures etc of him" but the fact they're completely dismissive of mingus and her family history in every way, demanding the pictures of him be taken down, making a jab at him being "forgetful", staining and ruining them, etc, is even MORE telling of what they've become. much like callum was, they've found success and don't really think about how they got there or who helped them get there!

(see: mingus having marla's hat, which gingi takes from her when they execute her - you could say that hat symbolizes the genuine good that callum did despite his mixed legacy, and the love that he had for his wife and those closest to him: and that's something gingi is completely ignoring in favor of having it be another symbol of their (and callum's) power :D)

also the space ending. You're telling me gingi became wildly successful and then in an act of innovation-induced hubris, locked themself in an inescapable box, alone? Good god man. callum is INESCAPABLE in this route its so fucking good. elements of him and what happened to him and the path he went down are everywhere - even in other routes, there's roger's amnesia, there's gingi making other people suffer for their mistakes: it's so horrifying when you realize what's happening but in retrospect the signs were always there. roger's plant is literally crown mechanics. no wonder that man's juices are all over the goddamn place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also gingi getting a cat tail in the bad ends is genius. 10/10 design choice. really good dlc. this is not a coherent ramble but i'm hopped up on being insane about what iv witnessed this weekend and also we have like no food in the house rn. we dont even have fucking milk iv had to make pb&js with this strangely tasting strangely textured squeeze bottle jelly and not even have milk with it. roger is the only thing keeping me stable

and roger himself is like... god, i dont even know what to say about him really? i adore him so much. he's a brilliantly written character. it's to the point where i cant even like analyze anything i just kind of have to point at him really hard and hope you understand. i related to him a lot as i'm sure a lot of people did. inexperience and "stupidity" and forgetfulness are traits that often get flattened into either completely sympathetic non-flaws or completely unlikable annoyances and i think how the dlc touched upon those traits of roger's - funnily a lot of the time, yet very respectfully and sympathetically when the time came for it, while never letting you forget the genuine harm it was causing to the people around him - was reaaaaally good. you love roger but you understand why others might not - but even then, like the rest of his workers, you still care about him first and foremost, not what he can accomplish.

and i think that duality being present in the good/evil routes is really good: roger's good ending is one where he flubs the presentation and hands the reins over to someone he trusts more to fix up the place, and he acknowledges his workers love him as a friend more than they do a leader. and the evil ending is the one where he has a wildly successful, energetic presentation that people love, and he's getting praise and is saving the plant and everyone's so excited, because not only is he promoting an underhanded shitty scam, but it's not him. he IS, like gingi, becoming a HORRIBLE version of himself: the point where good intentions or even ignorance begin to matter less and less in the face of actual harm being done. again, much like callum!!!!!

i also love peter. oh my god peter. in his marla crown era

i 100% had more to say but i'm beginning to lose it. oh yeah THE FUCKING INSULIN SCAM IS CRUEL. that part had me with my hand over my mouth and my eyes just agape at how fucking grim it was. the reveal that peter's wife is also diabetic makes it go from "pretty fucked up!" to "actively devastating". truly gingi at their worst. both it and the blowout argument they have with the narrator afterwards are done excellently. taking advantage of peter's tendency to worry about roger, roger's not wanting to upset peter, peter's fucking diabetic wife, is so so cruel and i love it. really really gets into the weight of what you're doing and how fucked up scams are, we are out of the realm of silly jokes about crypto and in the realm of ruining peoples' lives. it's so good.

anyway. really good dlc. i will surely have so much more to say and create about it. it maddens me that it's only five dollars because i dont think i will ever be the same again after that to be quite honest with you!!!! literally my only gripe is the way it's kind of carried on dialtown's general problem with its non-main female characters but that's something people have talked about more and articulated better than me.

good dlc. really good dlc. cough up the five dollars because it is truly worth so much more i havent even been able to touch upon here. and if you havent played dialtown cough up the eight dollars and then cough up the five dollars. its real good.

it is really well drawn! the artist is very skilled at drawing exaggerated expressions and its always fun to see, but i think this is like the third or fourth time now that this has been used, and i think my brain is just tired of the repeated schtick. i dont hate it, but the funny has moved on for me

i really hope that in this next arc we see a return of a devilish or conniving lloyd, rather than silly "ugly" expressions; its funny when he looks stupid but id like a better balance, which means i want more instances of him looking cool and smart as hell!!!

i actually really like the snappy pacing of s4 (even if i’m not overly crazy about the whole Fellow Finding Reality Show arc) and i honestly think it benefited from the shortened episode count BUT that said. so curious about what s4 might have been like if the writers strike hadn’t necessitated cutting it short. i think the overall shape of it would’ve been the same (house’s head/wilson’s heart are just too good) but here’s a list of stuff i think we would’ve seen/i would’ve liked to have seen if s4 had had a full 24 episodes:

-i think we probably would’ve gotten a lot more chase and cameron (and specifically Chameron Relationship Moments). this is based on the fact that a) we do get more of those in s5, when the episode count goes back to normal, b) we got so much build-up with them in the second half of s3 (i am not immune to punching the air when cameron shows up at chase's apartment in the s3 finale) that it does feel a bit weird that we barely see them together, and c) cameron especially does get a few moments of trying to prove she's the Best House Whisperer this season combined with the documentary episode of her making chase watch her chant 'i am not in love with house :)' in the mirror and i think there would've been more made of that if there'd been more episodes

-AMBER. i think we would've gotten a hell of a lot more amber + that her and wilson would've been together longer. i also think we would've seen a lot more of house and amber which imo is the main downside of this season being so short - house's head seems to allude to him having a crush on her by the time of the crash? or like. at least respecting her as a person which is more than you can say for most people. and i think a longer episode count would've allowed us to see more of that and/or let that simmer and fester for longer. anyway. amber in any capacity. send tweet.

-call me crazy but i think we would've seen more cole. i know we already get a disproportionate amount of focus/info on him given that he's never heard from or mentioned again after house fires him but part of me wonders if this is because he was supposed to have come back in another guest role at the tail end of the season and then that got cut but the rest of his stuff remained. would've been cool to lock him and cameron in a room together since she essentially goaded him into violence and all. maybe i just have too much faith in the writers for this one

-call me crazy again but a part of me wonders if this might have been The Huddy season. both because i read somewhere that lisa edelstein apparently had a sign saying that shippers should support the strike if they wanted more huddy (#based, always support a picket line) but also because like. the huddy slowburn is ridiculously long. by the time they got together i wasn’t even rooting for them anymore i was just ready for the arc to be over (and to be clear: i really like huddy). this is really speculative territory because obviously it wouldve had a massive knock on effect on later seasons (most of s5 and s6 gets knocked over by this) but like at the very least i think they probably would’ve kissed by the end of a full-length s4.

-i think it would’ve taken a bit longer for foreman to rejoin the team/he would’ve been a bit more of a stinker about it. emphasis on ‘bit’; i actually like how quick it is he regresses back to the fellowship/how fast he immediately resorts to malpractice at mercy (now there’s a spinoff title) but i think he probably would’ve stuck it out for another episode longer. maybe one and a half.

-absolutely we would’ve had a comedic subplot in some random episode about people trying to guess thirteen’s real name/their reaction to it. iirc the first time we heard her Actual name said Out Loud is with cuddy yelling at her over air bubble guy in house’s head. if there’d been time i just know there would’ve been a moment about this. that said i do find the canon reveal really fucking funny because for a moment when i first watched that episode i was like ‘who the FUCK is dr hadley’ which was probably the intended experience lmfaooo

-i think we might have gotten a few more sown seeds about house’s worsening addiction / mental health problems that obviously end up coming to a head in the final episodes of s5. nothing super big, but just a hint or two that something is Brewing.

-old fraud (henry) probably would’ve come back for an episode as house’s PA. or he gets hired as cuddy’s assistant (we know she runs through them like water) and house feels betrayed and there’s a silly prank war about it or whatever. hey for someone who doesn’t like the finding fellows arc i keep mentioning the discarded fellows a lot

-i know chase’s sister is a crazy s8 retcon (compels me tho) but can you guys please hold my hand where i imagine a world where there’s a subplot with him and cameron having a blowout argument where he reveals her existence to her and cameron tries to force him to reconcile with her. Ok you can stop holding it now i recognise that this is pure copium and never would’ve happened since we don’t find out about this sister until 4 fucking seasons later but it was a nice idea right

-this would’ve been a great season for a requisite Musical Episode. we get a lot of fun one-offs in s5 and 6 (lucas’s failed spinoff launch, 5 to 9, wilson) and this is the season with the documentary episode (that doubles as both the Meta Episode and the Noir Episode) so like. the writers were already armed and ready with their long-running cable show special episode notebooks. there probably would’ve been a ‘you can’t always get what you want’ fakeout. i’m not a fan of musical episodes and so would’ve hated every moment of it but i am a person of the people.

I AM SO SORRY i didnt think that much time had passed . im absolutely shit at keeping track of it . . . its put under the read more since it is a lot of text. A Lot of just rambling. primarily relating cognition filter. and also lor and lobcorp spoilers somehow?? i just cant stop myself. hope this is what you intended for

a bit funny to think of actually. realistically likely no. but to actually go ahead and have it like such would entail that either:

1) biologically such traits were subtly given to be able to qualify as such as for teeth the placement next to/rotation position of the teeth causing for it to either potrude or just seem sharper/feel sharper along with actions taken by lifestyle festyle (grinding of teeth/different diet due to intake of food textures needing to be broken down) and for the tongue just something born with (eg bifid tongue possible to occur in a human being for a multitude of reasons. im not well versed inside the dental/oral area like teeth or tongues since i have a personal ick when it comes to research or just thinking on it specifically w that area so its not exact. feel free to correct in any part). he doesnt seem the type to undergo a procedure specifically for looks in order to attain such a thing considering its aesthetic and serves no practical purposes. besides like. idk kissing?? if you want to get 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 i guess. not to say the guy cant express himself but also its not really necessary and also kind of out of the way along with complications that can occur because of such a procedure that could just be avoided.

2) the cognition filter decided to display it as such due to it being based off of perception. since it is cognition and essentially ayins Ego of a basement its possible that feelings or thoughts of how someone wouldve looked like couldve been reflected as such. eg malkuth and hods hair length being switched from elijah and michelle. elijah/malkuth always had a more energetic type personality so shorter hair for ease of movement and more of a 'spunky' type makes sense appearance wise to have it reflected as such. hod's longer hair being seen as more 'youthful' aspect or less active of the sort. her more meeker personality and softer approach, an aspect that needs more tending to or just seen as more stereotypically 'feminine'. putting in quotes since its more of perception than reality but you get the point. even though michelle had shorter hair herself. essentially tldr thoughts and perception of a persons said personality mightve been picked up for said cognition filter for the sephirot. all to say and lead back to. hehe. viper. considering the nickname and thought of him being a viper is pretty common (see lcorp netz and employees and also lor roland dialog as well) it would make sense to even subconsciously have such a thing stick. especially since an aspect of the story in lcorp talks about names and nicknames and calling people/remembering them/knowing them by something. along w abels own thoughts of names. brought up to say it is something that is pondered about/significant enough in a way to Be noted and remembered. also tldr. hehe. tongue. fangs. mister viper having viper like traits shown in the filter when he opens his mouth to speak

2.a) i guess it could be called a subsection of number 2. how does is cognition filter?? did angela herself have to go ahead and set it up? in day 40 its said that lcorp didnt have a cognition filter set in place before at some point (at least for the employees and abnormalities). its stated that the cognition filter had to go ahead and be changed for CENSORED specifically and its form had to be changed to just bars for the sake of sanity as well. which entails some form of adjustment or ability to go ahead and have some say in what is projected or known to be projected. i suppose it is possible for it to simply be in instructions and akin to a dial with customizable settings though... but even then it seems she knows what the cognition forms look like? inside lor it seems like the screens display their cognition filter forms in the managers office ever since the first day of work. she also discusses not wanting to see their expressions as there wasnt any point to burden her memory further with them. along with knowing what said faces would go ahead and show. perhaps im remembering it wrong and it couldve just been for employees but it seemed like she was talking abt the sephirot primarily. does she also just have the cognition filter on? was it just for the sake of storytelling and visuals? bc it had, at least in the office and for the sephirot, existed then inside the cgs. anyways. if paired with the previous thought since this is more of a continuation, that would entail her seeing those aspects attributed to the sephirot due to the cognition filter/perception even though it isn't what they had looked like. considering the fact ayin had a picture of those brought back to l corp its not unlikely that angela saw what their 'first lives' had looked like along with aspects of carmens memories left from the brain pattern she was based on it would be understandable to recognize the differences inside appearances. but other aspects such as you know. oral details wouldn't have been able to been recognized or seen. paired with the sentence of tiph inside story 1 of lor insinuating that either the light or angela's own thoughtfulness helping dictate their appearance in some manner could mean that her own skewed perception due to the filter and limited knowledge ending up causing for the man to wake up w such aspects. shittiest week of your life to go to a stalemate you dont quite support the outcome of the collection of your labor and despair only to wake up in the library w a weird set of teeth and an odd tongue. quite funny me thinks. going to attempt to speak and situate the self to not only be inside a foreign fleshy body constructed of light after having been living inside a fabrication, a lie, of inhumanity as a machine and metal tin for skin but to also have attributes not even recognizable as originally having such as appearance and internally as well. a little less funny as an aspect of the self was misconstrued and also had no form of control over such an aspect. paired with the fact it wouldve stemmed from limited knowledge from angelas parts if that was the reason as to why such a thing could occur inside the body. which was also inforced by a skewed perception of him by ayin and having nothing else to go off of. id be a bit ticked off if some guy i was already pretty angry w and felt unbearable hatred towards at times (lcorp dialog 6) went ahead and caused alterations to my body because of restrictions of knowledge and information towards another. actually just reminded me was the fact he would still see hallucinations ever brought up. i mean it would be really awkward to go ahead and just drop that on roland bc it would be effectively telling that to some co worker you dont know much abt that and he isnt really the type to do that. okay yeah lcorp dropping 'at time i see hallucinations when changing my clothes' but also memories w manager x ayin situation. got side tracked. anyways.

mostly the thoughts pertaining to it. the idea is kinda funny to think abt. neat to draw as just some traits since hehe. viper :). personally i probably wouldnt draw it or see it for him myself unless it was smthn specific or wanted by another. . not to say its bad but more of. body. human body. everything that entails having said body. mush of thoughts.. might make for a fun short back and forward though. if a dialog exchange is able to work out i might doodle abt it actually. hope this is perhaps satisfactory. i was planning on smthn else to accompany it but its been long enough already i feel..

Warnings: sad, fluff mentions of dead 18+ just incase as always. I hate the way endgame ended so i made my own version

Everyone thinks a super soikder means you cant get drunk you age at 1/3 of the rate because your cells create this protective regeneration if healing- but you do age and while yiu cant get drunk you can still get shot and while you can heal the same basics of human biology are at play. You need oxygen to live and yes h20 is an oxygen molecule. And you still need blood volume for a blood pressure and sometimes being able to heal doesn't mean you can heal fast enough.

Everyone has this romatic idea of steve. Some in the avegers were told he went back to make things right and stayed to live the life or a life he would have or might have lead of he didnt sign up.. for the wars. The general public was told that he died during the lqst fight with Thanos. But the truth was it was somewhere in between.

Maybe i shouldn't've maybe i should just tell everyone the truth heh. Steve was different. People forget he was in the war. He wasn't vain, but he knew how much he meant to people. If i had just one wish, it would be that he realized he owed nothing to anyone except himself. That he didn't feel he needed to carry the burdon not just alone but not at all. But he became a symbol of hope.

Hope it's so resiliant so pure hope can be kept alive with the tiniest bit of kindling. With just the tinniest bit hope, the proper hope, the kind thst inspires people sleep, doesn't rest and for the first time in a long time he was. ... the funny thing about hope is that sometimes, once it's shattared, those pieces can't be pjlut back like a puzzle. It's more like a mirror mo matter how hard you try putting it back together. There's always a piece of missing the smallest chip, and the mirror is never flawless again. No matter how many times i try and smile the crack and the chips are still there.

Steve, he, he didnt always know when to put the sword down. For him if this was evil in the world well the season wasnt over. And loke many acomplish athletes you learn at a young age that if you want to succeed and you are good at your position youre bkt gurt until the seqson was over. And for Steve the season laster for than 70s years.

But that doesnt change the ending. All the excuses in the world couldn't change the fact that he lost too much blood on the field and in his body. A small leak in his lung lettingit deflate just didnt repair fast enough, the the tear in an aorta in his stomach and he bled into him just took it took a aecond to long to heal.

Amd the day ateve rogers fell, well this man doesnt do anything hlafway. But the world knows that. He was dead not becausee of anything else but no blood pressure he just didnt have enough blood. But his ceels still.. they still worked.

When they did the autopsy his ceels wwre still working to heal the hole he bleed out from......after all they say energy isn't created... or destroyed

I dont know if steve wven knew maybe he thought it was the same thing that happened maybe ti frlt the same and he just never thought he was going to collapse un the one second of weakness where the rubberball didnt bounce, the rubberband broke. He only got half of my name out of his mouth before he collapsed. Barely a vowel, barely a consonant, and my world vanished without even a whole word being spoken.

I think. Personaly. Dark Seed could have leaned more into the sexual and Giger (thematic) horror. It's the first thing DS1 shows. But then it is kind of Over apart from the bad ending. Sad.

I agree with you 100% about the missed opportunity of the sexual thematics of gigers art being implemented more into the game; as much as i wouldnt want to actually change anything about the game, if somebody told me to go nuts with a remake or something i would absolutely get a little freakier with it

yes! literally 80% of gigers works are abstracted visuals of sexual penetration so its a mystery to me as well that it didn't get more of a focus. They already borrowed the whole forced male pregnancy thing from the Alien movies, so why not just go apeshit? All of the deaths in ds1 dont really have anything to do with those themes (unless you count the library drekketh guard/weird vagina-looking skull creature impaling him in the chest) so. missed opportunity. i think the main reason why they never leaned into that is because they didnt want an X rating. it wouldve killed any chances of making money as pornographic games got hidden behind the counter back then

This next part is long and probably a bit tedious to read so i apologize, but i just.🤷i gotta get my thought process out about this whole thing- mainly the two main takes, the chad "ancients are real" vs the bitchass "mike is just crazy" theories.

If you go with the whole "its all in his head" bullshit, I feel like the first game would imply that he was orally sexually assaulted the first night he moved into the house. & him being like this plain boring straight cis man who does nothing but ad work all day, that shit clearly fucked up his mental health SO bad. Even with the ancients being real, being forcibly impregnated would be just as traumatizing. I know that in the beginning of the game Mike writes it off as a nightmare, but by the time he sets foot in the dark world he HAS to know that somethings wrong. i feel like it left him dumbfounded and unable to grasp the whole situation at the time with how little he says about his fetus "ailment" (mentioning NOTHING about the weird infant doll), especially going off of his final line where he says hes "only beginning to understand". After the events of Ds1, it would only make sense in Ds2 that he would finally process what just happened to him and have a completely and utterly massive mental breakdown right before the start of the game. the question that plagues me about this is who even did that to him if not the ancients? i feel like if it was a person then they did it to him in his own fucking house. Having someone break into your new home to sexually assault you would probably destroy any and all feelings of security Forever. This would also explain his belongings being missing (the movers ""never showing up"") as they could steal his stuff as well. Also, with how they emphasize his sleepiness in the booklet, it feels like the symptoms of rohypnol to me. Did he get drugged somehow & got set up to be assaulted because of the real estate agents "obligation" to the previous owners?

I don't know where he could have been drugged, though, because on that fateful day the last person he interacts with is an old cab driver named Andy, who seems to be plagued with either the ancients energy or the horrors present in town. Mike does not appear to eat or drink anything either in his travel from the airport to the house. Also, Beverly does not show up at the house, and is never mentioned again. If I had to take a guess, I'd say Beverly did show up, and that hes blocking it out of his memory.

He also forgets her name when this happens. I feel like that would further cement that he's blocking out the events of that night + this entire narrative is in the past tense + him forgetting her name at the time could be taken as symbolism of trauma response. I don't think being roofied makes you forget peoples names. but yet again idk maybe. fuck if i know. i feel like what they're actually implying is that beverly was merely a pawn (and the "family" is the ancients), which would blow Ds2's insisting that its all in mikes head completely out of the water. (I noticed that ds1 treats it more like the ancients are actually real - ill elaborate on this later). What this all means for the role of the pills at the end of the game, I don't know. Maybe Mike was secretly FtM all along and sue got him abortion pills or something idfk

I know that 1) john mckeegan is said to be the previous owner, 2) his journals in the game depict that he went through a similar torment to mike (but not impregnated), 3) ultimately ended up dying of a stroke, but this does not explain the weirdness of the real estate agent and the whole transaction if the ancients arent real. Who the fuck inherited the house when mckeegan died? are they actually out of state or is she lying through her teeth? I feel like every little bit of info from this beverly character is complete bullshit lies. the house isnt even in good structual health as players were supposed to fix the staircase in the hallway or mike would eat shit and die from falling (never implemented though). so i wouldn't doubt if she was the one who set him up to get assaulted. was mckeegans family fucking with him too if the ancients dont exist? is mckeegans family actually like this evil fucked up group of nefarious serial killers that hide out somewhere in town pillaging and raping people at night? The ds1 hintbook all make the characters drone on about how its "sooooo SCARY out here from all the MURDERS" but like no one is ever directly mentioned being murdered as far as im aware.

all of them talking up a storm about how its sooooo dangerous in town and how people keep getting murdered makes me feel like they were going for a completely different route with the game initally. I feel they were trying to make it plainly obvious that the ancients are real (more on that in a bit), but with how Ds2 changed everything this could all easily be supporting evidence that there are a lot of nefarious types roaming the streets of this town.

All of this is grounds for very sick and sadistic things you could do to this poor man or the others. texas chainsaw / motel hell / children of the corn type of shit with how vicious these mysterious killers seem to be.

Now, for the opposite "ancients are real" theory; They mention Sue having dreams of Mike asking for help- something thats barely touched upon until right at the very end of the game. Delbert vaguely implies he knows about the ancients when he says "those things" when referring to whatever mckeegan was dealing with. I can't remember where I read this but the cops in ds1 are supposedly under control of the ancients. Also, the whole Beverly situation. As much as I am a major fan of media that has an unreliable narrator angle to it (case in point: one of my favorite films ever is Total Recall 1990), I feel like Ds2 trying to insist that Mike is crazy is a direct spit in not only the players face, but on the original game as well, as Ds1 was very clearly making it out that the ancients were real. In fact, I argue that they opened up the game with that scene and had mike proclaim it as a nightmare to make the players be like Heh. Little Silly Funny Man. That Was Real! and honestly with how much everyone shits all over mike in ds2 (the writers included) it feels meanspirited and frankly ableist to give him a serious mental condition as hes framed as an annoying and pathetic nutjob + gives a completely wrong hollywood-type view of DID & the schizospectrum. Although I cannot deny that it clearly makes Ds1 a lot more interesting. Trying to figure out what would have happened in ""reality"" to him spawns a lot of ground for Nefarious and Evil brainstorming as shown above. I also kind of can't help but project schizoaffective disorder onto him. so. 🤷

For me, I have no lack of imagination for all the possible deaths mike (and co) could experience with these horrific thematics. It would probably not be wise to get into detail on that, though; when i talk about those topics it comes from a fucked up place of lustfully intense hatred and trauma-related suffering & id want to bash anyones head in who would use it as their own masturbation material. Also, just based off of that hilariously random feederism death, you could basically turn any extreme fetish into a death sentence for him. some real tom and jerry slapstick shit. like whatever the fuck was going on when moe howard got inflated and the other two stooges had to shoot him down. use mike as a clay pigeon for a giant harpoon made to look like a schlong or something idk the possibilities are endless 🌈 you can also imagine one of the big biomechanical women getting REALLY mad at mike and stomping him to death with a comically large high heel shoe

for the generator- it is pretty neat to see that reused for it. They also reused it on the far left here on the wall in the DW pool hall -

Im assuming that the Ds2 devs got the idea for the generator from this specific nightmare Mike had in Ds1. What this could mean in symbolic terms, I'm at a loss for right now. My brain juices are sapped up. Its been 3 hours writing this since I sat down and checked my notifications before I was going to watch the tooth fairy staring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and settle in for the night. haikyuu!! the dumpster battle ramblings

saw it earlier today and am going to see it again tomorow with a friend, am very Full Of Thoughts, if u dont wont spoilers for the movie well take this as your warning ig

okay first of all the sound direction, the sound direction was INSANELY good

this is absolutely a movie that needs to be experienced in cinema, the soundscape of tokyo gymnasium and the karasuno v nekoma match felt so vividly real it was like i was at an actual game

the soundtrack was great too, i mean it always is w/ hayashi yuuki

there were i think two tracks that used the leitmotif from 'above', good shit

the animation was also really great, overall it didnt look massively better than season 4 of the anime

which is fine, season 4 looked great imo (minus that outsourced episode)

but holy shit when the sakuga hit it hit HARD

tsukki and lev blocking, kageyama doing his thing, kenma and kuroo's quick, there were lots of really great sakuga moments

they also reused some shots from earlier on in the anime and idk maybe thats 'lazy' or whatever but i liked it, it was very nostalgic :')

they did re-animate and i think re-voice hinata and kenma's first meeting tho, framing it from kenma's POV, loved that

i think my favourite sakuga shot had to be hinata and kenma with the knives at each other's throats tho, that ate

not sure how i didnt know about this before hand but it made perfect sense to me when i saw studio trigger in the end credits, some of the sakuga, esp the blocking, had a bit of that trigger flair to it

so obviously they werent gonna fit in everything from the manga, and the movie definitely had kenma as its focus, but i think overall they did a decent job in picking and chosing what to cut

the one thing im annoyed about is the removal of old coach ukai and coach nekomata's backstory, i really i think it makes the handshake at the end of the game hit that much harder

other than that tho i dont think the movie suffered from not adapting everything in the manga, i mean obviously i wouldve LIKED it, but i dont think the movie NEEDED it to be a good movie

it very much felt like kenma was the main character of the movie, and the main focus, with kuroo and hinata as his deuteragonists

which i liked!!! i think framing the match from kenma's POV for the most part makes sense, and its fun to spend more time in outsider POVs of karasuno

rlly loved the adaptation of kuroo and kenma's childhood flashback, im pretty sure kaji yuuki voiced kid kenma too

watching their friendship grow and seeing them play togther now as high schoolers, AUGH RIGHT IN THE FEELS

theres also a montage of kid kuroo barging into kenma's room to demand they go play volleyball together that ends on kuroo doing so whilst kenma's changing/putting on trousers which was rlly funny and silly

the stuff with kuroo and tsukki was so good too

'thanks to everyone, occasionally it's fun', 'thank god i wasnt wrong', 'he's a man who walks ahead of me'

AUUUGHHHHHH IT WAS SO GOOD :')

the scene that completely stole my breath away though was kageyama setting the open toss to hinata

i know ive already lost my mind over the whole 'threat of trust' thing and truly, the inarizaki match goes insane with that concept i will always adore it

but holy shit that scene smacked me over the head, HARD, with the concept of 'setting as a love language'

i just... i literally dont even have words for it it was SO amazingly good, i legitimately teared up in the cinema

speaking of other great scenes;

'stay interesting, 'kay?'

OHHHHH GODDDDDDDDDD

they did it perfectly

the music and the soundscape completely cutting out, the background whiting out so its just kenma and the net, kaji yuuki's delivery of the line

it genuinely felt like something out of a horror movie, it was creepy, and unsettling, and PERFECT

also;

hinata's reaction after kenma collapses and says 'that was fun'

murase ayumu's delivery was so VISCERAL, dude got in that booth and CHEERED

you really felt hinata's sheer utter come through in that little scene, same with kuroo's incredulous laugh

the end of the match was slightly a mixed bag for me

on the good hand;

having done from kenma's first person POV was cool, i dont think haikyuu's ever really done that before, and it looked awesome

cutting back on the music and background soundscaping so we just focus on kenma's breathing and the sound of the ball/players jumping/shoes squeaking etc was a great way to really immerse the viewer in the scene, and put us inside kenma's head

on the bad hand;

it was anticlimatic, and i KNOW the whole point of the end of the match is that its anticlimatic,

but i had always imagined the scene with dramatic swelling music and the characters running frantically, only for it to all cut away when the ball slips and all you can hear is kenma's 'ah-' and there'd be a close-up of his facial expression

the stage play did a very similar thing and it worked EXTREMELY well imo

instead by doing it in the first person POV and already not having music it just,,, didnt feel quite as impactful as it shouldve imo??

like the match points for the seijoh, shiratorizawa, or inarizaki matches were done really dramatically

and i know the whole point is that the nekoma match is kinda an outlier in that it ends in that anticlimatic way with the ball slipping, and theres that big beat with hinata calling out 'nice serve' to tanaka before the realisation sets in that theyve won, but jusstttt

idk like it certainly wasnt BAD, i still DEEPLY DEEPLY enjoyed it, but just personally if i'd been the director i wouldve done it differently

also!! because it was from his first person POV we didnt get to see kenma's face on the 'idiot! the ball hasn't dropped yet!!!' line, which was pretty disapointing ngl i rlly love that scene how it is in the manga

ok enough complaining tho back to the infinite list of stuff i loved about the movie

the camera work! good god the camera work was so fucking cool

it really made the space of the gymnasium feel 3d and real, the way the camera would move over and through the net with the ball helped emphasise the physicality of the players and the court

i know jack shit about cinematography but yeah, after the sound design the camera work was prolly the best thing

the post credits scene was great!! daishou trying and failing to neg kuroo cracks me up every damn time

and the set up for the kamomedai match was so hype

speaking of; the very vague forshadowing for hinata's fever of him having flushed cheeks and not being all exhausted after the game like the others, auughhh my heartttt

if he isnt already, this movie will make kenma one of your top 5 haikyuu characters

seriously i love how they switched the perspective and framing so it was a bit more like kenma was the 'main character' of this match and hinata was the 'rival'

overall the movie was cool, creative, and a really clearly loving adaptation, im more than happy to be paying to see it again tmr lol

i'll probably have even more to say after seeing it a 2nd time so tune in for that ig
