Page 9. --- Attributed to Members of Irish Republican Army From Free State ---- ARMAGH, Northern Ireland, May 7 - (CP Cable) - An abortive attempt early today to blow up the Armagh city war memorial was attributed to members of the "Irish Republican Army" who motored from the Irish Free State and sped back across the frontier after cutting telephone lines leading to the Free State.

It was recalled the Government of Ulster recently banned erection of a memorial at Carrichmore, Tyrone, to Irish Republican Army men who were killed in the uprising of 1916.

Armagh's citizenry were awakened by the explosion caused when one of two land-mines brought by the raiders exploded and partially wrecked the steps of the memorial. But the other failed to explode and the bronze figure of Peace was undamaged.

The bombers took the precaution while on the way to Armagh to waken a doctor and force him to stand by in case of injury to one of their number. As police and inhabitants rushed from their homes the invaders drove off with the doctor, dropping him at the Free State border.

So you may know that Shackleton's brother is suspected of having stolen the Irish Crown Jewels (clown ass colonial bs) but did you also know that he was gay and really funny?
