ok i will say as much as i can without spoiling anything:

steve and will have Always been besties bc steve is will's first counselor/gay awakening. this was mentioned in ch04 but will was Very distraught when steve and jon got into a fight bc it was two of his favorite people in the world hurting each other :'( steve has remained his buddy and bestie throughout the years, especially since he's dating jonathan, and will actually (off screen) calls steve during acswy to ask him for advice!! fuck the show for not making them interact that's MY comfort mentor/mentee bestie duo!!!!!!

jonathan and mike are on very good terms! even when mike and will were not, jonathan, like steve, was mike's counselor, so he couldn't exactly punt mike into the sun the way he might have wanted to even when mike and will were in their hashtag enemy era. he def tried to snoop and pry and figure out what happened but neither mike or will budged lol. ultimately he is getting Paid to look after mike and he knows he's not a bad kid so they are still on good terms - will understands but is annoyed at the situation. they have not rly talked after jon left camp due to allegiances to his baby brother and not having a reason to talk to mike, but if they saw each other jon would be kind and cordial!

"ghosts can't just live here on earth forever, right? i thought you guys would at least go to heaven or hell, or something. not that i believe in that shit, but you'd at least go somewhere other than here."

marlene becomes friends with lily and introduces her to james, sirius, and peter

frank is the older head counselor of the posidon cabin (also the posidon cabin's only resident) and everybody has a crush on him (except for marlene, a lesbian, and peter, who's aromantic)

sirius and james don't like him at first because he and sirius just clash (they both want to be the smartest of every room they're in and refuse to agree on anything) and james thinks he's being impolite to lily when he doesn't always respond to her, but he eventually understands that sev's just quiet and the two of them hash it out

pandora and evan are the weird iris kids. that's just who they are.

andromeda is the head counselor of the iris cabin. pretty much everybody knows her. she's been on a ton of quests and rumor has it she fought a harpy once.

andromeda and ted are like the parents of the camp, ted is also the head healer of the infirmary

emmeline is best friends with xeno, she sort of adopted him when she arrived at camp because he seemed lonely and she needed a tour guide.

meanwhile at camp jupiter...

remus and mary have been there since forever but they don't really get along with each other

remus is friends with regulus and barty (he finds barty annoying) and mary is friends with dorcas

narcissa and alice are older, narcissa is very broody and mysterious but everyone sees right through it. alice has a big fat crush on her.

after xeno gets with pandora, emmeline starts hanging around snape so she can give xeno some alone time with his girlfriend. like with xeno, it works because sev prefers to listen and emmeline really likes to talk.

relationships (romantic):

james/lily (past) - james and lily dated when they were younger, probably like 13, but decided to stay friends at the end of the summer. lily realizes she's lesbian soon after

sirius/marlene (past) - they also date for about two seconds before sirius realizes he doesn't see marlene like that and marlene realizes she is definitely not into guys

alice/frank (past) - they kiss once and then alice complains to frank about narcissa not liking her back and he does some super sleuthing to prove that narcissa is, in fact, gay for her

pandora/xeno (endgame) - pandora and xenophilius start dating when they're 15, they usually go out stargazing to avoid evan following them around and third-wheeling

sirius/remus (endgame) - remus starts crushing on sirius almost immediately after he first meets him when the camps are introduced to each other. they start dating like 3 months later and remus complains about his crush to reg and barty the whole time.

james/regulus (endgame) - they don't get along at first because regulus doesn't get along with anybody at first but since regulus is praetor, he speaks with "representatives" of chb like james, a head counselor, and they start to get along better and then start dating.

lily/mary (endgame) - these two are flirting with each other right away. eventually james and dorcas are basically screaming "just get together already!" so they go on a date. they're def the first cross-camp couple to get together.

dorcas/marlene (endgame) - lily and remus notice dorcas and marlene giving each other ✨looks✨ and team up to do something about it. this is how they become friends.

barty/evan (endgame) - these two take so freaking long to date. barty is enamored with evan immediately but sirius nor james really know him that well so he doesn't really have anyone to get him close to evan. then pandora notices and she's been trying to set her twin up for ages so she sets them up. evan is a little pissed that she put him on a blind date at first but he and barty hit it off.

andromeda/ted (endgame) - they're the parents of camp half-blood, they've been together for ages. that's it, that's the story. (they got together when they were 13, they're very cute, they would just bring each other flowers and eat in the infirmary together when ted had busy nights. andromeda scoffed at others for getting together so young but insists she and ted are different. they are.)

alice/narcissa (endgame) - alice has liked narcissa their whole time knowing each other and has been trying to be her friend since they first met. alice and frank kiss, which makes narcisaa jealous, and then narcissa and frank become friends when he consistently hunts her down to talk about alice. he convinces narcissa that he and alice don't like each other like that and the girls FINALLY get their shit together.

canon-compliant au

details are a lil messed up with parents being switched around and all, but here's who would be who in the different quests/prophecies. things will be similar to pjo universe events but changed some to fit the story because well... this is a riordianverse au.

these details also don't really line up with the stuff above b/c that is all structured around a more peaceful riordianverse ! down below is canon compliant stuff, as i said above. enjoy!

series 1: pjo (battle against titans)

people who the prophecy could be talking about (big 3 kids): frank, sirius, emmeline, regulus, or narcissa (tho reg and narcissa are from camp jupiter, so they're pretty much out for this one)

who ends up fulfilling the prophecy: frank, peter, and marlene -> explanation: frank is a child of the big 3 who manages to reach 16. when they're young and marlene first arrives at camp, peter gives her her first weapon - a bracelet that turns into a knife - as a welcome gift. when he betrays her by joining the titans, it curses her weapon and it's the same weapon frank gives him in order to kill kronos. rip peter 😔

frank is offered immortality but chooses to make the gods pay child support instead, what an icon

series 2: hoo (battle against gaea and the giants)

camp swap: sirius, the head counselor of chb's zeus cabin, is wiped of his memory and finds camp jupiter. mary is wiped of her memory and put on a bus with james and emmeline, who she's supposedly dating.

the seven: sirius, mary, james, emmeline, pandora, dorcas, and remus

the lost hero trio: mary, james, and emmeline

book 2 trio (wouldn't be called son of neptune because there... isn't one): sirius, dorcas, and remus

travel duo (people moving athena statue during book 5): narcissa and evan

mark of athena quest: remus (son of minerva, athena's roman form)

sirius and remus fall into tartarus (that's one way to start a relationship ig)

abilities (that cross over with hoo characters): -> sirius can fly (son of jupiter) -> mary has charmspeak (daughter of venus) -> emmeline can control gems & is basically sponsored by hecate, who teaches her to use the mist (daughter of hades)

series 3: toa (battle against nero and python)

main dude is still apollo ofc, but this time his master is lily, who's a teenager during the series (not a tween like meg)

the kids of apollo in the story are ted and alice, but ted will show up more because apollo & lily spend more time at chb

lester thinks he's destined to be w/ narcissa... she makes fun of him

i wanted so badly to make this jegulus but that makes 0 sense so it's nobleflower (narcissa is a daughter of pluto, alice is a daughter of apollo)

not much to say here either, tbh, but yeah. they go to tartarus and they're gay together.

this was so fun to make. i doubt i'll ever write it (which means others are totally welcome to, as long as they credit this post for the idea and inform me first! i'd also love to help others write it) but this was very fun to think about. i'm planning to make a part 2 with riordianverse (pjo/toa/hoo) characters at hogwarts so stay tuned for that. thanks for reading!

70's Summer Camp AU? :0

The 70's summer camp AU is one that's been kicking around for nearly 2 years, and is what made this fanart happen x'D Basically, I watched the Fear Street trilogy and got really in the mood for a 70's era les mis fic, but was still writing INtSA, so it never got off the ground.

A general summary is Enjolras and Grantaire meet while volunteering as counselors in 1978. Things start out rocky, with Grantaire rubbing Enjolras the wrong way, but Grantaire is great with the kids, and they slowly begin to bond over the course of the summer. First gay experiences and closeted bisexual crises ensue.

Here's an exerpt from the very little I did actually write:

“And what’s this?” Courf presses.

"My journal," he replies, "I assume I'm at least allowed that on this trip."

Courfeyrac had made it very clear that he is not allowed to work during this vacation he did not ask to go on, going so far as banning Enjolras from packing even one of his textbooks for next year, as well as anything else he could use to make progress on his preferred summer goals. 

"That depends on what you're writing," Courfeyrac says, and grins. He doesn’t ask to see it, just leans down and snatches the book from Enjolras' lap with a, "Thaaaank you—" and then quickly skims the page. 

Enjolras doesn't fight it. He, Courfeyrac, and Combeferre tell each other everything, nothing he's written is anything new to either of them. He just sighs, and waits for Courf's verdict, which he's sure will be offered with enthusiasm. 

"Technically, this is still planning," Courfeyrac says, after a moment, in his best attempt at a scolding tone, "but, considering it's focused on camp, I'll allow it." 

“Wow. Thank you,” Enjolras deadpans, and holds out his hand, “If you’re satisfied, I’d like that back, please.”

“Ah, ah, ah—” Courf says, still grinning. He reaches forward and plucks the pen from Enjolras' other hand, then scribbles something else down on the page Enjolras had been writing on. When he's done, he snaps the journal shut, and hands it back to him.

"There," he says, "Now I'm satisfied."

Enjolras looks at his friend, an eyebrow quirked, and opens the book back to the current date's entry. 

Below his meager checklist, is another added objective, crammed into the space between his list and the final note:

Enjolras stares at Courf’s bubbly, rounded handwriting, and frowns. 

“I try not to add goals I know I can’t reach,” he says.

but i got a little sad/frustrated at the thought that most people taylor’s writing songs about won’t ever get the chance to tell their side of the story. and it’s such a complicated matter, too. because while yes, i believe that singing/writing about one’s own experience shouldn’t be viewed as wrong, it’s hard to ignore the audience’s reaction to the songs.

i remember this one interview, i think it was from red era, when taylor was telling a story about a guy who after breaking up said something along the lines of “don’t you think about writing songs about me”. and taylor played it off as a joke, and i think she said that she replied i won’t, and then she did, with the sassiness that was on-brand for her back then, and which i loved. but this particular interview always was in the back of my mind whenever one of her exes was brought up within the fandom.

i remember that people would bring up this quote as an example of jake’s(?) assholery, and i get that, because trying to control another person’s way of expression is kind of an asshole move, but. it must be extremely frustrating for taylor’s exes to be painted as the bad guys and then be hated by thousands (if not millions) of people for years after.

and it’s not even the ‘rabid’ fans, so to speak. one of my best friends, a fellow swiftie, reacted with confusion and mild disgust(?; i’m sorry, not sure if that’s the best word for it haha) upon hearing that one of my comfort movies is one in which jake plays lead role. and she’s really rational and level-headed. granted, she’s probably not tweeting hateful stuff about him, but it still impacts her choices about which movies to watch, for example. and i imagine there’s more people like that.

i have this one song of john mayer’s that brings great memories, cause it was my camp counselor’s favourite and he used to play it for us on his guitair & sing, and i felt guilty listening to it for YEARS bc of what john mayers did to taylor.

i went on quite a rant, but what i mean is: the view that taylor only writes songs about her ex-boyfriends is *extremely* damaging and frankly not true, but it’s hard to deny that her songs impact (sometimes more, sometimes less) the lives of people about whom the song are about. the question is, should artist take it into account while creating, or would that impact the craft too much? i don’t exactly have an answer.

but i do understand why people would be afraid to start a relationship with taylor.

Okay, so... I'll get back to this when I'm not as frustrated with the fandom as I am today, but there are a couple of things I wanna say.

I need everyone who says "it's her story, she can say whatever she wants!" to please reflect on what such a blank statement entails and what are its consequences.

EXAMPLE A. Lev Tolstoy is one of the greatest writers that have ever existed. He was also a horrible human being who vexed and tormented his wife, Sophia Tolstaya, for years. I'm not gonna go into that here, but there was abuse, of all sorts, involved. Tolstoy crushed her spirit and made her life miserable while forcing her to bear more than ten children. Tolstoy is also the author of "The Kreutzer Sonata", a novella about the hatred of a man for his wife, which ends with the former killing the latter (described by him as "hysterical" and "mentally diseased") and which can be read as an ode to sexual purity. Did Tolstoy practise what he preached in the novel? Absolutely not. And yet, his word was taken as gospel by everyone in Russia, and people pitied Sophia. They thought that she was the woman portrayed in the novel and that she was making poor Tolstoy's life miserable, even though she went to great lengths to stop people from speculating and talking about it (she went as far as protesting the censorship of the novella in front of the czar). After the author's death, she was also despised by scholars and her entire persona was reduced to that of a frigid wife holding her husband back. It was only at the beginning of the 2000s that Sophia's diaries and two novels were finally published and studied. And they told the story of a woman who longed for a loving marriage and who was dying in her husband's shadow. It took 100 years for people to learn the truth about Sophia, because they'd only paid attention to Tolstoy's art before then.

EXAMPLE B. Hélène Devynck is Carrère's ex-wife. He is, without any doubt, one of the most famous writers alive, and arguably a top 10 writer worldwide when it comes to literary fiction and nonfiction. He is, again, an amazing writer (read "The adversary"). In his latest work, Yoga, he had a few passages where he wrote avout Devynck, even though in their divorce there was a clause that forced him to submit anything he wrote about Devynck to her, so that she could delete it, no questions asked. The story is long, but this quote from Devynck sums it up nicely: "I'm asking for distance. I don't want to be his literary object anymore. I just want to exist elsewhere".

So, to sum up: to every fan out there who's saying "she can do whatever she wants with her story! She shouldn't care about the consequences!", PLEASE remember that that's the same excuse used to justify what famous and powerful MALE artists have done for years: write about their female partners, make them a character in their story and delete their personality without any care for the consequences.

I don't have a solution. And I think that art should be as free as possible. But if you can't recognize the precarious position of "the muse", if you can read Carrère's ex-wife plea and still think that the author can do whatever the fuck they want, then I really don't know what to tell you...
