So both our opinions on the finale on murder drones is about the same, we both just kinda have accepted it is what it is and resigned ourselves

The ending to us leaves so much left unexplored, mysteries either left unanswered or even more put down, plot points left open, characters feeling half baked or without a clear end to their arcs, many things that seem like would be obvious to cover never do (the doorman family reunion is the one that I always point out)

To me, Kyle, it seemed almost like either the show was afraid to touch on just the characters and have faith in the writing of them or did just did not care to give us any more of them, I've said it feels like a charecter driven mystery story with a dragon ball episode tacked on at the end and then a "Oh you actually wanted these characters? Lol bye"

I know both of us would be way less sour if this was just the end of season 1, as it is ep8 does a good job as an episode, and even as a season ender, but as a series finale? :(

it’s so amusing to be watching shows/reading the source material after the initial hype wave and having a totally different experience compared to what i have learned via observing what people who are swept up in the online discussion have been talking about…

oomf made a good point abt how for a lot of shows it can be boiled down to a majority of people in online spaces are too caught up in shipping or misrepresenting something so people are inclined to read/watch. it’s so fascinating just to have an outsider perspective on these things.

also it’s very fun to discuss a current popular show w a variety of ppl like — boomer coworker whose kids downloada shows for her so she doesn’t get a virus again (help 😭) vs mutuals online vs friends my age who use social media & those who don’t…! i get a good variety of topics from these ppl tht i wouldn’t see just sticking to the one thing and it moves discussions away from being limited or looped back to shipping as someone like myself who simply doesn’t engage w media this way

personal TADC character analysis

uh warning this is long lol

autism time let’s go (/not in a negative way i have autism) stretches hands * I’ll go in order of the character episodes cause why not we have it (see below) i’ll put periods but it will just be to make it more readable not to be intimidating lolll

btw im completely open to interpretations of characters changing throughout the series this is just for fun

Gooseworx has said this series is mostly focused on characters rather than lore, and from what we know, i truly believe it. I don’t think any of the current characters will abstract because of this.

(I put a version of this in the glitch inn discord theory thing so if you recognize it that’s why)

Pomni: we already know her deal pretty well, as we’ve already had her episode. uuuh if anyone’s going to do something important lore wise it will probably be her as she’s the main character but can’t rlly tell what that may be. to review ep 2 though she’s an outcast who has felt like she was nothing and is a logical thinker.

(Kinger and Zooble will there their focus episode but i put it in order of who was revealed to be the ep 3 focus first)

Zooble: From their design (the entire motif is it can be changed at any time) and the fact she doesn’t know his gender, we’re dealing with some pretty clear identity issues. Friends with Gangle seems cool excited for next episode to learn more about them!

Kinger: One of the most interesting characters so far. I feel like we will get to learn more about abstraction though Queenie, the X-ed out door that looks like a female version of him. If i had to guess, since Gooseworx said they were not siblings, they were a couple. (Also judging by his age and the fact he could have been married, he may have been a father yeowch imagine that) I can see the common theory of the insect collection implying he was a coder before getting trapped, but i could also see him being some random guy who just likes bugs lol. He seems like really sweet guy behind his constant anxiety and disassociating.

 Gangle: (My faveorite human rn) Her mask design can be interpreted in a lot of ways but it’s clear that the happy mask isn’t her real personality. My take on it rn is she doesn’t wana bother people with her stuff so she pretends she’s happy? She seems easily embarrassed and def has self esteem lower than the last circle of hell. What’s interesting though is she’s willing to stand up for herself from time to time, even though she’s easily shot down after.

Ragatha: Waaaay too nice for her own good. Also probably has self esteem lower than the last circle of hell and bases her self worth of others approval.  Though she’s been here the second longest, she seems a lot more normal than Kinger. Makes me question how long apart their introductions have been. Probably copes via escapism.

Jax: I can see why everyone is very interested in him cause me too. He seems like the only fourth wall breaky guy (unless you count Caine cause of his intro at the pilot)which is rlly interesting how did he figure out more than everyone else? what’s with the keys? i have no clue lmao. He’s an asshole who makes the best of his situation by torturing everyone else. At the end of the day though, he’s a human and was sad at kaufmo’s abstraction but he probably isolates himself so it would probably be the same for anyone

that’s 6 humans but Gooseworx said we would look into 7 (cause of the “other” part) in her twitter post talking about the character focus timeline so we know our fav character won’t be left behind ⁉️⁉️⁉️ I hear you not asking well my dear hypothetical person, who better to fill the 7th character than Caine?

Why you did not ask? Too bad i’m info dumping. First, he’s the main antagonist and alongside Pomni, the commercial face (or lack their of haha teeth and eye joke) of the series. he’s an important character and loved by many. (and hated equally if not more aside the point lmaooo)

Yes, gooseworx can lie about stuff but I think she’s smarter than to lead this heavy into Caine depth/ angst territory if there wasn’t going to be anything On top of that, the entire purpose of the timeline post was so we know our faveorite characters weren’t getting treated poorly. It’s unlike for a character based show to suddenly drop such a major character for some random other guy were introduced to later or smth. i mean cmon there’s three episodes after all the humans at least one of them has to be focused on my boy.

Caine: I believe he really does have good intentions and wants to help but just does not understand people at all. This means he’s like an anxiety disorder; it wants to help, solves some issues but creates 500 more. Judging by the Tumblr post, loneliness may play a big part in what’s to come? I’ve always had a feeling his front was extremely fake and his VA saying “breaks keyfable” (an act that pretends it’s true) supports that theory. Episode two gives some insecurity vibes when Zooble didn’t want to go on the adventure. I find that pretty interesting cause he didn’t care at all if people went on the gloink adventure or not. Maybe he puts some adventures over others and he could have been proud of the candy adventure cause more time and care was put into it and he made a new AI. Why did he blue screen? i feel like he could have some blockages on what he can say built in though im not sure why he was blocked then if he even was. one of the biggest questions i have ab him currently tbh. what’s with him grabbing his cane like that in ep 2? if i had to guess simply be nervous = that? His VA also knows some depth to him even though his focus episode is likely going to be at least one of the last 3 episodes, which they have not gotten to recording yet. You know what this means Caine angst solidarity club? Sad Caine so more fan angst appetizers before the main cannon feast let’s friccin go‼️‼️⁉️⁉️

(i think its super funny bc, like sure w a 19 for wisdom he probably wouldnt fail wis saves, but on the off chance that he did, viscious mockery, a bard cantrip, will knock him out no matter what, and if it rolls i think a 3 or 4 it completely kills him. he could be killed by a single insult.)

(thats actually something id say maybe doesnt work well with sydneys high wis. so far it seems like, while he is quite observant, hes not always super great at reading the room, or at least thats what ive gathered)

also idk about the charisma bc so far jedidiah seems a bit more put together in the persuasion/deception/intimidation area of things.

Small vent, but a thing I hate about being an EP / Trauma Holder host and being "good at my job" as an EP Trauma Holder is that the more I exist as a host and thus the more I rapidly help resolve and fix our life relative to the 5000 things deeply instilled in my EP brain, the less I feel like myself and the more I feel as though I am fading out of existence. It's not a really genuine thing I worry too much about cause I know how fusion works and I also know that feelings, while valid, aren't often (and usually aren't) a genuine depiction of reality, but it still is a really uncomfortable place to be in and right now I'm really feeling the known fact that I am not *made* to have positive emotions other than adrenaline and "aggressive" positive emotions like excitement, pride, sadism, schadenfreude etc

Cause I over came large hurdles in the gender shit and we are on a good path there, we are getting even more settled in a stable and good work path that matches our needs and is almost as far detatched from capitalism as we can realistically expect in America, the abusers Im based around hVe either turned around and have a positive relationship or are so thoroughly out of our life that its not an issue and there is really nothing to put me in any of the high activation positive emotion states or anything and while that's great, as an EP whose main "emotional part" is high activated, aggressive emotions and nothing else, it just kind of leaves the only emotion I can experience as a mild depression and a general emptiness.

It's not a huge issue cause I know with our dynamic and how our system is and how fusion works, I'm neither going to go dormant nor fuse with Riku and honestly, the solution is to work on Dealing With It and "It" being processing peace times, developing and investing into my non-high activation hobbies, and - if worst comes to worst - see if there is anyone viable to fuse with cause there are a number both EP and ANP that have put out interest flags and if I did and could, then Id be a good vessel as I both handle fusions and process EP shit well

So again, not a huge issue within wise and rational mind, but I'm 70% Emotional mind and so I still feel this way and it still does suck

Admittedly there is also the paranoia that if I learned to be able to handle and process low activation positive emotions, that I would no longer be me which is a hot trauma brain belief if I heard one

about my album "my baby loves me"

- an album started during my first relationship and contnued being worked on during my second relationship. now sharing to the world single.

this album was started after I created the original version of "my baby loves me" on new years eve and then made "christmas lights" that same night There's many tracks that were made for the album that didn't make it in.

this final version of the album was crafted after I resung 2 old songs of mine from 2020 n' 2021 "who made you feel like that?" a song for my old friend stephaine and "kissed me in the bathroom" a sad gay song haha 'bout a boy who i've been singing about for years a song reworked as "seashell necklace 2002" from my 2021 project "whitenoise1" which is now "marry you"

my baby loves me - it originally had an instrumental that was cute and rock, I took it off the track-list after I finished "teenage love" since I felt it shared the same message. After a dramatic night with an anxiety attack going on, I sung this song in the bathroom, hyperventilating, trying to calm myself down (dont u just love romance and anxiety) I decided this song would be perfect without an insturmental to recreate that AMAZINGGGGGG moment.

teenage love - a satirical song I made during my 2nd relationship. I was happy during the start of that love and so I made this. I'm not sure what else to say about this song... it's not really personal. It's just a poppier version of title track. Me mentioning chasing cars is an ode to my song "chasing cars" from my ugly ass album "Blackcat"

christmas lights - I made this song on new years eve and was supposed to give offf like TEENAGE GIRLLLL vibes! I hate talking to stoners btw. I feel like im not emotionally connected to the more FUN BRIGHT songs on here but I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

crying to you... (after touching you) - well, um, so... kinda personal shit but like I felt like I wasn't seen for who I was and that my past two loves didn't really know me or care too or even care for what I had to say (could just be projection but also im not sure). I cried to my ex after touching him and it was about him but I didn't tell him that... I just didn't feel seen. whenever I talked I always felt boring and stuff. maybe I'm just annoying I just so badly wanted a real conversation

my boy - partially auto-biographical, I also just wanted some lana vibes in that song THINK ULTRAVIOLENCE. this song was about my first love who went hours of not talking to me and not even acknowledging it or being hella dry after HOURS and then DRY AGAIN. I felt so boring and not good enough. almost everything I said was ignored and I BARELY talked about myself. I dont miss him, that part was supposed to be silly. the "touch" and "fucks" aren't genuine since he was like in LA lol. this guy would genuinely tell me that others would confess his love to him and would DROP POUNDS of his EX lore and I comforted him about his exes. i felt so boring and empty. I left him on January 11th

who made you feel like that? - a song for my friend Stephanie. I made it in like 8th grade after she was sad over something. the world wasn't easy to her and I love her so much. the demo version is so scary and I'm so happy I finally got to give it justice and I hope she likes it. but it's not just for her, it's for anyone who listens. you're all special and beautiful and the world is beautiful cause of you. don't listen to what others say cause you're a star.

marry you - instrumental is from my 2021 ep "whitenoise1" the demo is also scary... (bandlab what a time). I played the uke on this song and the lyrics are supposed to give off like ladybird vibes. I was ready for marriage during my 2nd relationship. I guess I fall in love deeply. the rose garden I imagine is in San Jose but I say Sacramento cause like... THE VIBES!!! I want to walk down the aisle to like "for you I hold my breath" but also I dont want bad energy...

kissed me in the bathroom - old song from 2020 about my 5th grade love that I resung cause I truly love this song. the boy im talking about changed me so much (in 5th grade). I was truly in love at like 11 but I believed he was the one. he ignored me the next day after "getting together" and then tried coming back multiple times. I still see him around and I wonder if he remembers what we had (in 5th grade haha)

neck - this song gets me. it's the "who made you feel like that?" instrumental reversed. this song was for my 2nd love and I was genuinely in love even after the fights and hard times. I felt young and in love. I loved him

chased cars - a little instrumental track, it's a continuation of my song "chasing cars" from my "Blackcat" album (EW). it's supposed to symbolize how I got the love I wanted since "BC" was just about a crush. the cars have been chased

daydream - it was an outtake from "Blackcat" but I feel like it just shares how I feel about love. it's the last song and yeah

My thoughts on Watching and Dreaming

I watched the episode when it premeired last night but i hit post limit so couldnt post about it. Spoilers under the cut. sorry if anything is out of order lol im sick and im just throwing everything i thought last night down on this post.

-Luz being attacked by Amity genuinely made me cry

-"My girlfriend is too big a nerd to misremember an Azura quote" -luz probably

-Lilith having the haircut from For the Future but color scheme from season 1 is a nice touch

-"Dont you recognize your siblings" Ok damn man didnt need to go THAT far

-The giant stone Flapjack in Luz's nightmare killed me and not in the good funny way but in the sad crying way

-at first I thought belos was gonna try and possess king but then I realized no he's going to possess the fucking boiling isles titan

And yeah yeah you could argue MLP overuses that too but MLP was ABOUT friendship)

-Luz, Eda, and King's expressions when The Collector hugs Belos is so funny tho. Literally just 👁👄👁

fungus humongous but it’s their ACTUAL biggest fears: a ramble

first off , leo is the same. his fear of letting the team down ( and by association his brothers ) is very real and i love that they dived into that in this ep. i felt like they could’ve done the same amount of character development for the others too tho. or at least address it. like raph’s greatest fear is COCKROACHES ???? nah. there’s more angst to b had here. so here we go

going by order of who gets infected first, the first one on the chopping board is raph. i get that his fear of cockroaches is BIG, but i don’t think that’s his BIGGEST. that’s an irrational fear, not one that plagues his day-to-day life

taking some inspo from rise raph , i think he has a DEEP anxiety of losing his brothers. Separation anxiety ahoy ! so i think it would’ve been better if his hallucination was based more on that. keeping the cockroaches would work actually ! like he sees everyone as cockroaches and freaks out , but on top of that , he’s all alone. the people he loves r gone and he doesn’t know where they r bc all he sees r giant bugs. so it’s a wombo combo. having him become increasingly more angry towards these “ cockroaches “ is also an idea. he gets so worked up when he doesn’t know how his brothers r doing and if theyr ok, so he takes it out on the only thing in front of him. poor guy

next is donnie. of course it’s april. we all saw it coming. siiigh. i do think it’s interesting how he begins to cover his ears and shout “ i don’t wana hear any more ! “ so i think we could expand on that

his biggest fear isn’t APRIL hating him, it’s ppl that he ADMIRES hating him. having this fear expressed verbally is especially a nightmare for him. there’s no leeway when someone straight up says they hate u yknow ? so boom , he freaks out. he’d begin pleading to everyone , hoping that they’d forgive him for being himself. he doesn’t want the ppl he respects to look down on him. very much “ PLEASE like me , i’ll change my whole personality JUST so u can like me “ type beat. maybe even “ just lie to me and say that u like me so it doesn’t hurt “ type rhythm

it’s mikey time ( b prepared hes my fav ). this is the one i’m real disappointed in. like i get his whole thing is being scared of smth “ stupid “ but … cmon. im the president of the take mikey seriously club and i will NOT stand 4 this !!!!!

he’s constantly being looked down upon and treated like a little kid , never being taken seriously bc he’s “ the dumb one ,” being made fun of 24/7 , etc. i don’t think mikey is immune to this , i think he’s just good at hiding his true feelings. without a doubt , it bothers him , but he doesn’t ever bring it up bc he doesn’t think his feelings matter as much as anyone else’s. so having that b the focus would b neat instead of funni comic book monster he scare mikey haha teehee. how would this b achieved ? well , he’s used to everyone putting him down , so having a donnie hallucination situation ( i’m a lyrical genius ) wouldn’t work. i think the only way this could b represented is by honing in on mikey’s self esteem. have smth that rlly digs the nail in that he’s not that important in his eyes. honestly i don’t think he needs to hallucinate for this , bc him trying to help out his brothers and failing no matter what he does would b enough. maybe those thoughts just get worse as he fails to snap everyone out of the trance theyr in. i think taking that approach would b rlly cool !

in conclusion i have many thoughts and none of them r normal ( btw didnt add casey n april bc tbh i do not think abt them SRRY GUYS )

What We Do in the Shadows: A Rewatch Part 2

Now for the lgbtqi fans: I wanted to go down the Nandor Guillermo route. One fan asked if straights really didnt read Guillermo as gay originally. I can only speak for my boring straight ass but no I didnt. I just take TV as it comes to me, so I dont read into any of it. But unlike what I hear are some shitty reddit fans, I would strongly disagree that the vampires are straight. They have all basically openly admitted to fucking any and every gender and have bi yearly orgies (which Nadja says is ‘ok’ only lol). In fact you could even argue the only really monogamous leaning one is Nadja, as she tries to resist Jesk and never does more than kiss him. But she doesnt seem to care what Laszlo gets up to (literally any and everything) tho she did seem shocked he was dumb enough to fuck ‘anything with long brown hair’ incl Nandor (2X9). I don’t think u can really roll with this show if you aren’t open to all of that.

As for Guillermo he was the general sexless blob in season 1. Season 2 they seemed to be steering him towards women, having him reference if hed stayed at Panera he might have a gf by now. In The Curse (2X4) hes like the action hero saving Shanice. Which can we stop and discuss how ungodly awful she is as a character? I’ve enjoyed every character on this show except her. She doesnt have a real stutter, shes just really bad at speaking. And shes fucking annoying. God I hate her. He should have let her die. But hes too sweet. Thankfully thats the last we’ve seen of her since.

I remember reading an interview towards the end of Season 2 when the interviewer asked Harvey if Guillermo may get his panera bread girlfriend, or what did he want to see. He said nah, and then stated he was gay. I was a little surprised because I just never thought about it. But after that the writers seemed to go full Nandermo which hey why not?

I think Guillermo as a whole character read as just nothing especially to me was the orgy ep hes just dying of embarrassment (grew up VERY catholic) and then stated he wouldnt be partaking cuz he doesnt do anything with anyone. But then when he ran away to the fake vampire (Collaboration 2X8) he seemed...down with the orgy idea but left his dicky on at the least. BTW contrasting Shanice, the best random character is Sam the Cat and I’d like to see more of him. Of course Nandor has eaten cats so hes prbly wise to stay away. As for them as anything well, unlike the nandermo fans Im not holding much hope as an actual plot point. I’m convinced Nandor literally sees him as basically one step below Ja-han (his beloved horse). In the first ep of Season 3 Nandor is the only one to really take pity on Guillermo. He had in the past (checking in on him and trying to win him back in 2X8). He warms some raw chicken for him, keeps them all from immediately killing him for a month lol. When they decide not to kill him and four way hypnotize him, Guillermo thanks them and says he sees them as family. Nandor cuts him off and is like ‘yeah no one cares about ur life story.’ When he says his ‘promotion’ isnt much of dick, Nadja states its better than being dead and ‘bloody better’ than being a familiar. So basically to them familiars are all but dead...they think very little of them. This has been stated several times before, which also shows why before Benji we had not met a familiar turned vampire (but Nandor ONLY did it for Guillermo, which was sweet).

When Guillermo does run away again (2X10) Nadja muses this is why you don’t get close to humans, they either leave or die and muses the cameraman looks like he’ll die soon (I think he said he was 27 lol). Living for 700 years really skews your viewpoint. Nadja is prbly about 500 years old (Nandor is 700 and destroyed her village ‘200 years before she was born’) and assuming they had a familiar for at least 50 years thats 10. But they went thru 10 like in 2019 lololol so shes prbly even more jaded than the avg vampire.

Ja-han (John but basically ‘my universe’ according to people who speak Persian) was Nandor’s horse he loved so much it kept his spirit from moving on. I get it...I tried picturing being in a survival setting and having to kill one of my cats for food. I’d rather die. So hes braver than I am. (Yes Im sure my cats would eat me if it came down to it but their welcome to it).

So we basically open Season 3 on 11 years of Guillermo being there, and Nandor mostly missing him for his slave duties at first, then kinda actually caring about him. I just really vibe it as like your pet, you’re special little guy who is not on your level. I do think when S3 opens and Guillermo references codependency, I do think thats for ALL of them. Some of those assassins were nowhere near Nandor (clean more quietly Im trying to sleep!) but he still saved Laszlo and Nadja.

Its in ep 2 with the cloak Im convinced Guillermo actually realized he cares about Nandor in a more than boss/friend way. He seems shocked when Meg suggests that. What he made of those thoughts afterwards we don’t really know. But when Gail enters the picture again I think he realizes he might need to do with it sooner than later, especially when the ring is brought out. By the Casino ep Guillermo is about to state hes gay before he gets cut off.

I dont think Nandor even realized he fully was in crisis until they ascended the council. Nadja asks wtf is wrong with him, given his love of ceremony (all mail opened in the fancy room) and now hes just mush. He, like Guillermo, seemed confused. Also like Guillermo, he seemed to not look in the house, but outward.

I dont put much stock in that dick fondling scene (omfg that was a ride...and I think mostly fully had us distracted from the actual main plot point). Guillermo finds semen everywhere (2X9 Witches) and MAKES A BUSINESS OFF OF IT. He was also tasked with the orgy prep and I cant imagine Nandor put all those dildos on his own (boy theres a scene we could have used seeing lololol). Someone on here noted he had the dupe body and broke the door down as Nandor was plowing Gail. So I think dick size isnt news to Guillermo...never mind the pantsless dancing in the Gail ep. Someone also said they thought the esteemed vampires heard Guillermo and Nandor arguing (heightened senses) so the fondling scene was just to fuck with him. I like that theory...it vibes with canon. Also very David Cross thing to do.

If all the footage from the preview ad is new, I think the sexy fight scene between Guillermo and Nandor is about him proposing to Gail yet again. Because theres a shot of that and according to Nadja he does that shit all the time. Maybe Gail accepts. Guillermo would not be thrilled (guardian of his heart after all). Also frankly traveling alone is enough of a reason...this man literally didnt know how to pay at a grocery store cash wrap (first ep). How he’d make it is beyond me. I dont think he could see Delaware on his own and be okay lololol.

If there is to be any Nandermo I think it would be next season. Guillermo is his bodyguard but the vampires all constantly forget it and only rarely treat him as above a familiar (basically a slave that shouldnt be seen or heard). Guillermo would have to do something to really put him on equal footing before I think Nandor would even acknowledge that possibility. The fight could do it...someone here noted they would be pretty equally matched (Nandor has super vampire strength and Guillermo is crazy vampire killing talented). Probably one of the only times Nandor looked genuinely proud of him is when he was full vampire rampage in the finale of season 2 (look out behind you!) It was short lived tho (who cares you didnt pick up the fucking laundry lololol).

Whelp 4 more days. I’ll prbly do one more rewatch. God I love this show. Next year wont be soon enough!

hey, yeah, what the FUCK happened this episode. i've been trying to follow along with the live blogs and its honestly just chaos

Hey anon!!!

Okay so a lot happened and a lot didn’t. And that was the problem, I’ve not been in the fandom long and honestly until about two months ago I had never heard the term bucklemming (and until two hours ago I didn't know it was two people).

However, the fandom has a long-standing issue with them because of pacing issues in their episodes and OOC writing (ie jack not giving two shits that Cas was still in the empty despite knowing about the deal and what would have happened to get him taken by it) and their absolute love of Lucifer.

So quick run down of plot, (apologies this did not stay as short as i planned)

Everyone in the world is dead, Dean tells Sam and Jack that Cas is gone and there are literally no questions asked, they go back to the bunker and a couple days have passed, Dean passes out surrounded by booze but that's pretty much all the mourning we see him do

They follow jacks ‘i feel an energy’ thing to a church but first they make a pit stop at a gas station where Dean finds a dog; Chuck then immediately kills the dog once Dean is all excited that something else survived with them

They go to the church and see Michael who tells them that Adam died in the rapture (yes what chuck did was the rapture) they head back to the bunker and Dean gets a call from Cas but its actually Lucifer at the door and he's here to fuck shit up but wait maybe he’s here to help, he pops a reaper into the bunker (her names betty) and then kills her immediately and she becomes the new death (because the first reaper to die after Death is killed takes over (which seems like a bad system considering decades might go by before a reaper is killed after a death dies but alas) no one questions what happened to all the other reapers by the way but that's not currently relevant) 

Because only death can read the death books betty starts reading chucks and after a few sentences luci kills her (rip betty 2020) luci reveals that he wasn't on their side (shocker there folks) and he and Michael duke it out, Luci dies (thankfully) and Sam starts to translate the book because not only is death the only one who can read the book but they are the only ones who can OPEN the book to meaning that the book had been sealed this whole time

Sam works out a spell and its ingredients and they (the three of them and Michael) go to the literal same place they burned Cas’ body in 13x01 because why not (btw this is not ever addressed) and set the spell up but it doesn't work

Chuck shows up and kills Michael for consorting with dean sam and jack (even tho he was still working for chuck and trying to do right by his father) and proceeds to beat the fucking shit out of dean and sam, they refuse to give in and keep standing up (on several broken limbs might i add) this goes on so long it feels like when luci was beating dean to a pulp in swan song. 

Finally they confuse chuck enough to make him turn around and jack is up and looking like he wants to fuck shit up. he ends up doing the same move to chuck as he did Michael while he was possessing rowena in s14 and chuck collapses

Dean responds to chucks comment about being a killing machine by saying “no I'm not” which we all think is a call back to Cas’ speech before he died. 

The heroes explain that jack had become a power vacuum (actual dialogue) (remember the flowers jack killed in the silo?) and that over these past days he's been absorbing the power that is let off by things, ie, luci and Michael fighting, the plants and flowers, chuck pummeling dean and sam (bc why rip off just infinity war when you can rip off the entire lore behind the black panther suit/ vibranium too)  

Chuck is left powerless after this and dean sam and jack drive off as a now human chuck essentially grovels on the ground. they head into town and jack brings back everyone who was killed by god in the previous episode and then gives a really weird speech that confirms that he is in fact the new god (and that amara is now in him and they are in harmony) but says he's gonna be hands off and legit just glows a bunch and disappears. 

Dean and sam go back to the bunker and realize they don't have to worry about chucks control on them, we get a like four min montage of the entire show and then they literally drive off into the sunset.  

some important notes, Cas was not brought back to life despite it being stated clearly in the episode that god has the power to bring angels back from the empty, no one even asks jack to do it and jack doesnt do it on his own

there is no mention of Bobby Donna Charlie Eileen or anyone else that was killed in 15x18

Sam never asks dean about cas, having apparently gotten all the info he needed in the sentence ‘cas is gone, the empty took him’ 

honestly the only plot thread wrapped in this ep was god’s and while that might seem big its not really enough like the episode was lacking in a lot of areas

Its been said that Bucklemming hates both Cas and Misha, and that they are literally obsessed with bibro (loving sam and dean equally- a fan made term to stop the sam girls and dean girls from fighting i think) and that they are really really into the whole ‘the show is about two brothers and the open road’ which the show hasn't been about since maybe season two or three 

I'm not sure if you can tell from my synopsis (Again sorry it got so long) that a lot of the characters seemed off, Jack not caring that Cas was still dead, Dean not mourning, sam not giving two shits either way, sam not caring to check in on eileen, neither of them checking in with their hunter friends, Michael switching back over to chucks side despite his actions in 15x09, the fact that no one mentioned the plot holes in the ep (by that i mean within the episode no one had questions about the things that didn't fit, like Michael never questioned how a book that could only be read by death was being decoded by Sam)

overall the episode was bad, objectively, not from a destiel shipper standpoint bad. there are many ideas floating around about 15x20 considering this episode really felt like the end of spn, people are mentioning that the relationship arcs are unfinished and that Dabb (whos writing the next one and who has written many of the quinticential destiel episodes) will save the day. Im holding out hope that 15x20 will be better (which should be too hard to achieve after that shit show)

i realized by the third ep bc i wasnt totally paying attn the first time and im having the most traumatic month ever that adachi like....actually is a go-getter. he just thinks he isnt.

in the show he is older than i am but we are basically the same age. i've been loud, outspoken, tall, commandeering, and been a leader when i have to be. but if i had nothing pushing me? i know who i become. adachi got a job and does good work even if he believes he doesn't. that's not something i achieve or cuold do necessarily. he keeps his job, people like him, even if they walk over him, he's just you know. him.

but when he chases after kurosawa i never realiezd...like i would never do that. that's just not who i am and i wouldn't be able to do what he did. he thought about how much courage it took but, and this isn't in a bad way, he was like "WOW I DID IT!" but he fucking did it! he does it!

it takes me ages, i must deliberate, i have to think think think. he and i are different and lead different lives; he's more stable than i am financially and securely and he did that all on his own. it's weird to have someone so conflicted but be way more of a go-getter. i put on bravado but am extremely reserved and i would just take my time. if i had his ability i wouldnt do fucking shit about it. i'd be like ok time for EVERYONE to get the FUCK away from me and for me to like. go to a brothel. he handles it cooly and well. idk like....adachi is a lot cooler than he thinks. and i know he finds out what people truly think of him but seriously he's a chill fucking dude. he's also fucking hilarious. i'm glad people got to know him.

i am contemplating torrenting this in 1080p because it's too gorgeous to have it compressed to 720p and it really takes away from my experience because i think this is filmed very well but i can't exactly tell. it's a lot more complex than i remember it being but i was like....watching 5million things at the time. i wanted to take my time.

the thing about asian dramas and bl and stuff is that it's mine to do. i don't feel pressure because most people i know don't watch it. i can find my own thoughts and talk about them. i don't have FOMO really but if i do i will just....stop watching for months. it teaches me to slow the fuck down . it's better when not everyone around me knows because i don't feel this pressure it's just me.

i love films and well-made productions (not a huge tv fan) but asian dramas have allowed me to slow down. that doesn't mean they aren't without their extreme fucking challenges as someone who respects herself and the people that are marginalized the most. but it's good to fucking SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.

i'm sad tho bc i hate watching films alone and not in theaters so i become consuming way more asian media than i would like because that shuts me off to my people and the world too. but then again it's a bit of an escape even if it covers heavy topics i guess. sometimes. i think i turn to it the most when i cannot handle the heaviness of the world and feeling like being a black woman is going to drown me even if i am so proud.

there's a lot of cross-solidarity btw which is why so many black people do flock to the media. it isn't that we don't know we're being exploited and laughed at many times, or if we're fat etc, it's that there's an underlying struggle as well. still, it sucks to be reminded of our differences as well.

cherry magic is a really good example of a concrete world and a dreamy one and i think a person on MDL said this about it; to them it feels so like manga-y, very japanese, what they remember growing up on (ik it was a manga lol) and i think they get that right. also like....real actors. i don't necessarily feel the same way about ITSAY, but i think there's a lot less solace there. i've been asking people about what they think about ITSAY like what their issues with it were bc im genuinely fascinated to know bc visually taht story is really just...impeccable. tight writing. but there's something that is off that i don't feel with CM. there's a couple of reasons why but. anyways i am hungry and going on to ep 4. i cannot believe that guy who is adachi's friend is my age. ok he is not 30. HE LOOKS 35.

i finally saw ep1!! i wont be able to see ep2 until thursday at the earliest but i already have some Thots on this ep. here are the ones I remember

first is, and i'm so sorry for this, a grammar lesson. an appositive is when you stick an additional phrase in between commas, dashes, or the like. i actually just used one! the "and i'm so sorry for this" in the first sentence of this paragraph is an appositive. thing is, most english speakers don't normally use them when they speak, only in writing. so i'm always on high alert whenever i hear somebody in tv or movies use one. (it's generally a marker of bad screenwriting). anyway there was one right in the beginning of the episode. the white army guy yelling at sam wilson said "first lieutenant Torres, our intel officer, will be helping on the ground." yeah so. the writing of this series started out on the wrong foot for me. but the rest of the episode was obviously tons and tons better (every interview i see with malcolm spellman makes me love him more and more)

the contrast between the opening minutes (falcon action sequence) and the rest of the ep.... i would 100000/10 rather watch a series with just sam and bucky dealing with life. i dont give a single crap about the flag-smashers or any of that. i just want sam, sarah & fam getting their boating business back on the ground & yeeting racist dickwads, bucky going through therapy and making amends, sam and joaquin being bros, sambucky homoerotic tension, etc.

the cinnamontography! wandavision mostly used cinematography to signify era n stuff. tfatws doesn't have wv's premise to go off of, so here's some tricks i noticed:

with sam there's obviously all sorts of shots with the captain america iconography next to his face, but he hasn't totally claimed it. there's the mural of steve rogers in the background; there's sam staring into the shield like it's a spectre of steve's face; there's sam looking into the exhibit, the shield and sam separated by glass and a layer of camera focus. steve is a constant spectre, always there, an idea, a symbol himself. sam's relationship with this iconography is distanced. he is separated by glass exhibit walls. by painting canvases. he doesn't yet feel worthy to take on that iconography. this whole thing was pulled off quite well but also a bit on-the-nose if only in quantity. there's just sooooo much fancy iconography stuff

speaking of the exhibit, there's something that i get real pissy about. it's when like, there's an action going on you're supposed to be paying attention to but the cinematographer is like,,,, hey! check out this location! or this headline! or something! there was a lot of that in the exhibit. the camera was like, you could focus on sam and rhodey's convo (which was fine but could have been so much better with an extra like 10 minutes of deep character study talk) but noooo you want me to look at the symbol for the united nations and read all the text about bucky who hasn't even showed up yet. shut up i know the lore and ill watch the shot-by-shot breakdown yt vids you don't have to make the shot this long jkdsalcjklasejf

my fav trick was with bucky and the therapist. i had seen a clip of the scene with bucky and the therapist beforehand and i thought the cinnamontography was super obnoxious, but then i was like, oh duh. the shots frequently change the distance between the camera and its subject. sometimes it's uncomfortably close and sometimes it's really far. a clear allegory for the duality of therapy, esp for bucky! therapy is an invasive process wherein he is ruthlessly examined, picked apart, and berated for his trauma (this therapist is crap in every way btw, "mean therapist" works for greg house and greg house only). so the camera goes close. it makes the viewer claustrophobic like bucky. but when he's like "no i haven't had any nightmares" the camera suddenly goes really far. we see bucky as this tiny head in the center of the bottom of the frame. we are distanced from him. he has pushed us away. we cannot see him. he lies because he is vulnerable. so yeah, amazing work there. the therapy scene was hard to watch on purpose!

did bucky slip a note to yori inside the dollar bill? bucky stop making me emooooo. the suuper awkward fake smile has me 😭 (veteran trying to adjust!)

speaking of racism, the interplay between sam being Black (anti-Black racism) and sam being the Falcon (negrophilia, "can i take a selfie w you as i deny you a loan?") and the intersection between the two (j*hn lichrally called sam "steve's wingman"! he takes the crypto out of crypto-racist in like 2 seconds!) !!!!!!!! a Black celebrity's Black experience, the separation of man and identity!!!! (thinking about vanessa bayer in snl in that skit "beyonce is black" telling her black friend "you're not black, you're...my girl!")

after sam gets racially profiled by cops we see j*hn standing in front of cop cars cinematic parallels turns out j*hn is racist who knew

this therapist sucks major ass but she got bucky and sam together in the same room and ready to collaborate...that's something ig. it was lichrally couple's therapy she said she used her miracle exercise with couples sambucky antis get blended

bucky says "he was wrong about you so maybe he was wrong about me"...that's not how people talk. when therapist asks bucky, the guy who doesn't talk at all about himself, "y do you hate sam", the last thing bucky's gonna do is actually connect his hatred of sam to his own self-worth issues. bucky generally refuses to talk about himself, so why would he talk about himself in the one context that nobody ever links back to their own neuroses: hatred of other people? one thing human beings hate most is admitting we're wrong. admitting you hate someone because of your own issues? that's a major therapeutic step. bucky would absolutely have to be prompted to do that. even like one or two lines of dialogue more would have set up that line better. but in terms of the actual thought? an amazing way to take the sam/bucky relationship. bucky bases his self-worth on steve believing in him, and if steve is wrong bucky has no self-worth, so 1) he has to develop self-worth disassociated from steve's assessment of him and 2) he has to love himself before he can love sam, and 3) he has to realize that sam giving up the shield is a sign of sam's humility not his unworthiness.

conversely, we don't get into why sam hates bucky? yeah sam has the right to hate a guy that has tried to kill him (albeit while brainwashed) multiple times, and now shows up in his life just to bash him but. everything happens so fast i cant follow their relationship

in fact i dont feel like i understood much of anything. like y did bucky and sam go on that mission together? how connected are sam/bucky/joaquin with the government? doesn't bucky just want to retire now? literally what is everyone doing/feeling and why???

if battlestar becomes a knowing commentary on the black best friend stereotype i'm gonna party, but i dont expect much of that

the interplay between man and symbol. captain america is obviously a symbol. the shield is obviously a symbol. but steve rogers? the. man behind the cowl? he too seems to become a symbol. a paragon of a good guy, so good he's unreachable. steve was just a guy stop idolizing him the last thing steve would want is to be idolized

Don't worry about getting this to me as early as possible. I usually don't watch the episode right away.

1. Cool writing lesson.

2. Everyone wants a comedy show [like Friends] about the MCU superheroes.

3. Cinematography is always a beautiful thing.

4. Sam definitely has to carve his own Captain America status for himself, outside of Steve's ya know everything.

5. They have to do that for people who was just now tuning in because they're in love with Sam Wilson or Sharon Carter.

6. I think the therapist was taking a 'tough love' approach for Bucky, because she likely has some very strong opinions about the literal assassin she's been assigned to give therapy too. She did not choose to talk to him, she was assigned that make that clear in the second episode.

And, Bucky isn't lying when he said it wasn't a nightmare. It wasn't a nightmare, it was a resurfaced memory. So, technically he wasn't lying - and yes, the camera does move away because while he's saying he didn't have a nightmare, he's not expanding on what actually happened - so, he's still pushing the therapist/us away.

1. Honestly, that line was double meaning. Both about White people and Hydra [which is made up of mostly white supremacists/nazis] So, the line is gesturing to both White People in general and Hydra assholes together. I think the terminology is “double edge sword”??

2. This whole paragraph structure confused me, ngl - so I'm going to answer it the best I can. I do like that they're not ignoring the fact that Sam being Black is 1000% the reason he's not the Official Captain America - because the gov't is racist as hell.

I also like the little lines about how they point out little things about Sam's Falcon persona, like that kid calling him 'Black Falcon' specifically and Sam's response show the split between Sam and Falcon itself.

John is a dick for calling Sam the wingman of Steve Rogers. Sam was a hero all on his own before Steve asked him to join up again. [Side note, it's lichrally??]

3. Exactly, the parallel of Sam being profiled and surrounded while just on the street and John being surrounded by fans and being able to spring Bucky with apparently only a few sentences shows a Loooooot

4. Honestly, at this point I wonder if she's not actually a therapist and is just an agent assigned to assess Bucky outside of an Official Building. I do know, however, that her 'look at each other and speak' exercise is actually a real therapy practice. It's just a little slower.

5. Actually, I think he would've blurted that out. That whole line. I don't think Bucky hates Sam. I think they could've done the scene better, but I think that had Sam prodded him/the therapist been more annoying Bucky would've lost control of his emotions and blurted out the whole "If he was wrong about you, he was wrong about me" but I feel like the writing for this show is just... not there. Sometimes you blurt shit when you get overemotional and I think that was what Bucky was supposed to be like.

6. I don't think Sam hates Bucky, I think he doesn't trust him though. I do wish they'd talked about that though. The whole 'talk to each other' scene should've been a LOT longer and a LOT slower.

7. Sam and Bucky's relationship is being fast tracked because they don't really know how to work the relationship out, writers-room-wise. Bucky is technically retired, but I feel like he's trying to live up to Steve's expectations and doing what Steve would've done and we all know that if Steve was there, Steve would've jumped on that plane with Sam. It looks like Sam/Bucky/Joaquin are a side-team based from Military services but as Sam says they're all free agents so...?

8. Sadly, They seem to just be propping up to be another stereotype.

9. Captain America is a symbol. Steve Rogers is a man. But now Steve Rogers is an idol because of all the shit he's been through and honestly, it's not a bad thing he's become an idol for people - it's using Steve as a reason to make White Bread Walker the next Captain that makes Steve's idolization so fucked.

10. I don't know anything about music so I have no opinion here, sorry.

12. Bucky is the Winter Solider. The Winter Solider is Bucky. That is how Bucky will always see it because although he was brainwashed, it was still him and he remembers all of it. When you have constant memories of something 'someone else' did, you tend to not be able to pull the two personas out of each other. I want Bucky to take up the title, White Wolf instead of Winter Soldier. Honest.

This is all my opinion, I’m honestly a little disappointed with the writing of TFATWS so far so... I’m not really optimistic about this.

honestly dislike how shl changed zzs’ personality so radically. he’s a completely different person. a lot of characters are different but zzs in particular...i mean he’s the mc of tyk T_T but in shl it feels like wkx is the mc and zzs is turned into this softer more emotional person ..for example in tyk there’s a scene where zzs first mentions his deceased shidi it goes like

wkx: wow your shidi is lucky to have survived so much

zzs: he’s not lucky. he’s dead.

and then he walks off emotionlessly and wkx and zcl are ???????? a bit concerned and then just start talking about something else

in the drama zzs is like.  having this crying breakdown and saying he ran away.......like huh? who are you........? i think because zzs is my favorite in the novel in particular i’m not. pleased with this change. i dont hate shl but i wish zzs wasn’t nerfed, shafted, and made so ooc.

also this whole idea of having a home to settle down to in the drama is weirdly the opposite of the novel and i ???????????? i did think it was funny how the uh..i forgot her name the elderly couple in the drama were like “dear i wont leave you!! *clings* while in the novel the old man ditches the old woman when she’s injured and she says men aren’t worth shit basically fdsknmalsdoafjnamKOUHJKFJM

let’s see...wkx is also weirdly soft and waaah in the drama which is kind of. hm. in the novel he’s so tough and only cries at the very end after everything...zzs doesnt cry once ever btw. i was laughingi n ep 25 how zzs just has 0 reaction to his beloved shidi’s grave and then for some reason wkx is the one who asks to be alone with the graves of zzs’ master and shidi>??? like if anyone zzs should be the one to especially this zzs lmao....

i dont really like the whole zzs and wkx knew each other as kids plot they added...i liked how zzs and wkx just met each other by chance and were the perfect match without having a whole childhood thing. the drama leans so hard on wkx and his revenge quest it’s annoying a bit...this is part of it too with the show seeming to make wkx the mc instead

i love how the novel showed zzs’ thoughts and his trauma and issues in a subtle way through how he’d say things. he wouldnt say “oh im so sad im a coward wah” he’d say something like “the crushing weight that had been hanging on his shoulders since the death of his shidi seemed to lighten a bit at that moment he could finally speak his name, something he could only manage to do in the presence of an old friend.” where he’s not an emotional wreck and it’s more..implied kind of?

don’t get me started on the side characters. omg . i was rereading and realized who shen shen is in the novel and laughed so hard HE’S SOOOOOOO DIFFERENT IN THE DRAMA IT’S CRAZY. SO MANY OF THEM ARE. LIKE. the novel is more zzs and wkx journey with the kid and the stuff with the martial world is more background stuff while here’s it’s more..equalish? novel shen shen just gets killed offscreen almost immediately. i think he’s mentioned twice once when they say who he is and another to say he got killed hufijdsijf

it’s sad too because with the ooc i mean wkx and zzs’ relationship is not the same. in the novel they’re annoying to each other, zzs is a total tsundere for a long time and then eventually flirts back and wkx gets flustered. they squabble constantly. there isnt this soft uwuness to it the drama has and i LIKE that. there’s an amazingly sweet part where zzs is suffering through the nails and it’s bad that night in particular and wkx who had annoyed his way into his bed holds him rubbing his back while he writhes in pain and is just there for him. and the next day wkx frets and decides to treat zzs softly but zzs HATES BEING TREATED SOFTLY. HE HATES IT. HATES IT. and acts like normal and wkx comments how zzs is that type of person and acting soft is wasted on a pig like him (lol)

it’s almost like. a disservice to novel zzs. to have the drama be like this fdnkmsl, i miss novel wenzhou so much they’re so fucking annoying but you can see they’re really truly villains who have retired and want to just fuck around and fall in love because they UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. that’s another thing. in the novel they have no fights. no misunderstandings. they dont yell at each other EVER. the fights in the drama to me are like ?? what the hell, the whole point is they are the only two who truly get each other why did you ruin this with these stupid ridiculous fights.

lol @ the thought of zzs telling wkx not to kill people. novel zzs does not give a damn. he kills more people than wkx probably. this is something i mentioned earlier but drama zzs is like waah i was so bad cries cries cries. novel zzs outright states he has a clear conscience and did what he knew he had to do for the sake of the majority.

i get things had to be changed for investor and censoring and whatever but it was totally disingenuous to act like and say that the drama would be extremely similar to the novel. i’ll make a full review when i finish watching the drama but yeah. to me shl is some AU OOC fic someone made for TYK that i would probably shittalk if i read it for being so ooc hufijdskosafsgij i do enjoy SHL though it’s just. need to look at it as not being related to tyk. ilove tyk the most so that’s why im so  : )  about it
