Chapter 13, part 2/5

Time for the lovebirds (love fish?) to finally meet. I’m sure that this won’t go wrong in the slightest…

Cut to a few minutes later, the family is heading to the castle. The twins are helping their dad take their stuff out of the carriage, and Odaila and Amity are swimming ahead. Amity is admiring the castle beauty, but Odaila is more interested in the many trinkets and priceless artifacts.

The family then enters the throne room and is greeted by Queen Lilith, Princess Edalyn and the other parliament members, who welcome them to the castle. While Lilith is presenting a genuine attempt to be friendly, Eda is very grumpy and it’s cleared Lilith forced Eda to come here.

While Odalia starts to present her business idea to the royal sisters. Amity is looking around trying to find Luz, but isn’t getting any entail. Odaila is noticing Amity’s distraction (and via gestures) forces Amity to help her out. The twins, noticing her distress, decide to help Amity. They distract Odaila with a question about the trains or something, which allows Amity to sneak away. The twins give her a “you got this” expression and a thumbs up, and Amity swims away.

We cut to Luz’s bedroom, where we see Willow, Gus, and King in her room playing a game of some kind. King and Gus are bickering over the game, but Willow and Luz are just enjoying the show. King then notices their out of snacks and looks visibly sad. Luz smiles and tells him she’ll get some more. Luz leaves her bedroom, not noticing Amity is right outside the doorway. Amity notices her immediately and gasps in shock, Luz turns around and the two lovebirds finally meet for the first time.

I'm kind of stunned by how often and how openly they're using the word girlfriend. Like, it's been mentioned in basically every episode Amity's been in. I remember when entire shows would get axed for far less. Rebecca Sugar I hope you know what you accomplished here. You fought for this, and you won. It's beautiful.
