soooooo new info on d5 and i guess ill kms (unless its part of the plot to red and chloe fix it pls be it 😭)

according to the new info on d5 the isle of the lost was now created by merlin after uliana and her gang open the spell book and so their trapped in the isle since then (and maddox and max for some reason)

i wouldnt have a problem with that if they would make chloe and red go back in time to change the past to its original line (due to the many changes and the new villain) but considering the rest of the d4 cast is not in this movie i doubt that will be the case

the creation of the isle of the lost in this new time line creates a plot hole with the sleeping beauty, hercules, peter pan and alice in wonderland stories (and the descendants original lore)

without maleficent, theres no curse on aurora and so theres no sleeping beauty story;

without hades, theres no kidnapping of hercules and so he lives as a god and no hercules story;

without capitain hook, theres no rivalry with peter pan and total different ending;

without the queen of hearts as a villain, alices journey in wonderland ends different.

and it also changes the original descendants lore, not only the creation of the isle of the lost but also the original trilogy story

i may be getting ahead of myself because im all for the 'we made a huge mistake and we need to fix it' plot but im afraid that will not be the case with this movie and because i didnt like d4 (i really liked the premise and characters but i really didnt the execution) so im a little bit afraid of not liking d5 for the same reasons

im really trying to optmistic with d5 (even if im sounding like a hater 🙃) because i see the potential and i really wanna watch a good movie and im very excited to know the new characters and the new villain and everything

so yeah for now thats my rant (i just know ill change so much in my descendants rewrite once i get to d4 😅)

ok so I see a lot of people who love to point out that he’s better than Jimmy. that he’s just a guy, what could he even have done? he didn’t want to hurt anyone, he just wanted to keep the peace…

But that’s his worst flaw! You don’t have to actively think “I’m gonna be evil today and hurt this person close to me” to hurt that person, and that’s what makes curly such a misunderstood character imo. He says he’d do anything, he thinks he’d do anything, but he never lets his mind wander beyond keeping jimbo at the forefront. He’d do anything for anya, so long as it doesn’t interfere with his relationship with jimmy. he thinks he’ll do anything, as long as he doesn’t have to think about what Jimmys done. He doesn’t put any actual effort into helping anya, or keeping ANYONE on board safe considering he let jim on the ship in the first place. He isn’t making little mistakes, like forgetting to preheat the oven before baking the cake. He’s literally replacing the sugar with salt because it’s more convenient for him. He isn’t a complete nutjob like jambalaya, of course he can acknowledge that rape is wrong, but when he has a victim of a man he protects with tooth and nail in front of him, he will always think of Jimmy first. The point of his character is that he seems sympathetic, but in the end, he’s still the captain of the ship, leaving everyone at the mercy of his bad decisions. He knew better, and he should've done better. that's his worst flaw

TOTK/BOTW RANT

Hot take that's not that much of a hot take - but, Zelda should've honestly been the Protagonist of TOTK. That's what makes the Role Swap aus so good. Tears gave us a world we're already familiar with, flops it on its side with the Upheaval plotline. I think we should've let the Sheikah technology stay Link's thing for the sake of BOTW, and then have TOTK's Zonai stuff be Zelda's thing. Zelda was a huge history buff in BOTW, so having her figure out all the Zonai lore and whatnot would've been perfect.

Not only that, but her exploring Hyrule and seeing the good Link has done for the people would've been awesome. I would've settled for a DLC even where we get to play as Zelda during her plot in Old Hyrule with Rauru and Sonia, but we got nothing. That's not fair at all. Wild Era Zelda had more character than ANY previous Zelda we've ever seen and they sideline her at every turn, reducing her once more to a damsel that needs saving, when we've seen she's more than capable of holding her own (in Age of Calamity).

I liked the whole Light Dragon plot, but they made it a point over and over again that "becoming an immortal dragon is irreversible" only for us to magically turn her back with The Power of Friendship™. It would've been more interesting to get that ending as a 100% competition benefit, but even then, Zelda shouldn't have been completely fine if you know what I'm saying. Like you're telling me Link slept for 100yrs and forgot nearly everything about his life, but Zelda slept as a Dragon for Hylia knows how long, and she's just okay?!

This is why a lot of people complained that TOTK felt a little lackluster compared to Breath of the Wild, and I completely agree. What was the point of having the Champions and their descendants be such a huge thing in BOTW, just to create an entirely new plot with The Sages in TOTK? What was the point of introducing the Light Dragon, Demon Dragon and Sacred Stones if we got NO information about the Dragons that were already in BOTW? (Dinraal, Naydra, Farosh). People can ramble on and on about theories and whatnot but I would've loved CONFIRMATION or even a SIDE QUEST. We got a lotta useless new lore to try and erase perfectly good lore bits we had.

And I hate to be the dork wearing rose colored glasses or whatever the saying is, but this is why I prefer older Zelda games, because sure -- Nintendo didn't confirm everything, but they confirmed enough for people to properly string lore themselves. Nowadays I feel like Zelda content creators are just grasping at straws to try and patch plotholes that Nintendo just shrugged off. And then for them to be like "We came up with TOTK because we had SO many DLC ideas for BOTW", just to release a half-ass game and be like "We did everything we wanted to do with this era ☺️" WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THOSE IDEAS?! I really hope this isnt a continuous thing because I'm getting too old to wait YEARS for a new game to confirm absolutely nothing about the previous one.

cause I'm seeing this fucking pattern a lot recently. not just for albus, not just in this fandom, everywhere. ‼️ no one can fucking handle flawed characters anymore ‼️ the only thing any character is allowed to have wrong with them is trauma apparently, otherwise they have to be perfect, and I'm getting sick of it. characters and stories are meant to reflect real life, they're meant to help shape our world view, why are you expecting everyone to be fucking perfect??? what happened to nuance? what happened to understanding character development? you are all acting like characters and people are so black and white. either they're perfect or they're insufferable and evil. I won't lie, the most common victims i've noticed of this are women. but the flawed women are typically demonised, whereas the men are typically turned into uwu baby boys who actually aren't capable of doing anything wrong and then fanon goes nuts making them into ittle wittle victims. and I'm so fucking sick of all of it, I hate this.
