alright now that i've watched all of arcane. i immensely enjoyed it because it was very pretty to look at and had a lot of badass good music to go with it. however kind of nothing at all happened except the apocalypse and some gay dudes dying together. go girl give us nothing
#bluebird.txt#arcane#it needed to be longer and also they needed more balls#i love how not a single upper city character reflected on anything at all. pero AT ALL.#yay sevika's on the council but she was barely in act 3 also#it was incredibly too rushed#net zero information gained type stuff#in fact vi might have actually learned less#i'm happy she seems to be doing better but like. she's only doing better because she fell in love with#the EXACT kind of person who killed her parents and was the cause of all of the undercity's poverty and suffering#and EVEN SHE (cait) didn't learn jack shit!#cait was like ooh i'm a little girl. ooh i grew up and became a cop.#alas! this one under city scum prisoner is actually Different!#argh her sister killed my mother! time to become a FUCKING FASCIST!#oh no there's another fascist (who just. i don't even understand what happened w ambessa at all to be honest). let's kill her!#yay we killed her! and also my brother died w his partner so we don't have to worry about that stuff. yay now im still#in charge and still have basically everything and now i have a She's Different girlfriend and we put One (1) zaunite#on the council for show. yay equality!#the way sevika will never get the votes she needs for anything#especially with mel gone#i need to rewatch bc as much as i loved mel i truly have no idea what happened with her mom at all what was that plot#also tbh most of s2 like i understood until the end of act 1 then i was like what the fuck is going on 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼#oh ekko is perfect though never change#they could've just given him More Stuff throughout in general but i love him he is without flaw#jinx also#even silco

Okay, I saw your post, and I really want something with vi x caitlyn x reader with them getting into an argument, but It has to be hurt/comfort plsss<3
Tumblr media
of course! thank you for the request <3
just as a disclaimer, i’ve never written for a poly relationship before… nor have i written a full argument. i tried my best, but if you have any feedback please let me know
summary: vi, caitlyn and fem! reader get into an argument.
characters included: vi, caitlyn
tags/warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, yelling, arguing, drinking, poly relationship, slight s2 spoilers
men dni.
caitlyn and vi have been… off.
‘off’ is an understatement. your girlfriend, cait, has been more and more ‘occupied’ with her work as of late. doors opening and closing in the wee hours of the morning, waking up without her by your side, without so much of a note indicating her location.
vi, on the other hand, has been falling deep into a hole of self-loathing and despair. depending more on the effects of liquor than the comfort of you or caitlyn. despite your efforts to get through to her, vi would consistently shut you out.
“i’m fine, honey.” she’d say, the smell of vodka potent in her breath. “don’t worry about me. just keep doing… whatever it is you’re doing.”
how did it get to this point? everything started off so well. you’d been together about six months now, the three of you deciding to go steady after realizing holy shit, you all had feelings for each other. you’d moved in together at around the four month mark, with caitlyn helping decorate, vi trying (and failing) to build furniture, and you actually building the furniture. it was a dream come true- at first.
caitlyn would be out until around eleven every night, but would never fail to greet you with a gentle kiss and a drowsy, “i missed you, love.” she would bring back gifts from her patrols, telling you she stopped at a street vendor and couldn’t resist the urge to treat her darling.
vi was spontaneous. sometimes going out for pit fights, sometimes trying to smooth things over with jinx for the millionth time, sometimes simply parading the streets of zaun to get some air. either way, she’d always leave a messy note on your bedside table informing you of where she’d be; or just invite you to come along with her. her ‘partner-in-crime,’ as she puts it.
you had your jobs, and they had theirs. it worked out. you worked out.
until now, it seems. you’re sat in your bed, neither of your girlfriends with you. the air tense and sheets cold. a million thoughts are swirling through your mind, your eyes darting around the room looking for some kind of purchase.
vi swings the bedroom door open, and stands in the doorway for a moment, hand against the doorframe. although you’re a bit far from her, you can’t smell any whiskey on her- that’s good. that’s a start. however, she does have a black eye and fresh blood on her arm bandages.
“god, vi, what happened?”
she sits down beside you in a manspread, leaning over her lap and shaking her head.
“don’t worry about it. just got into a fight with someone off their ass on shimmer.”
you sigh, and shake your head. grumbling to yourself. feeling your shoulders begin to tremble and your fists begin to clench. vi was like this, she got into fights frequently. but to come home injured, and then act like it was nothing? what had gotten into her?
“vi, tell me what happened.”
you demanded, looking straight at her. but the woman refused to meet your gaze.
“vi, you can’t just come home with a black eye and covered in blood and act like everything is fine- you know what? you’ve been acting like this more and more. and you come home wasted and pass out beside me without a word and act like nothing is wrong.”
you ramble, your tone growing more stern and more loud with each word. you’re working up a sweat. your brows furrowed and your gaze fixed on your girlfriend who still won’t look at you.
“(y/n).”
she grumbles.
she finally turns to face you. her eyes look blank and tired, her expression is completely lost on you for the first time possibly ever.
“i fight. that’s what i do. i do what i have to do to scrape by and make my money and protect myself- and you, and caitlyn. and if i have to pop open a flask every now and again to get through-
“every now and again?! vi, you come home shitfaced nearly every night!”
you gasp. did you hear her right? did vi actually just say that?
“it is not every night, and you know that. you and caitlyn are busy and i don’t have painkillers or anything else to take off the edge, what am i supposed to do? sit with my thoughts?”
“give me a call?”
you suggest. vi looks off to the side, her hands clasped and at a loss for words.
"what's happened?"
you jump back for a moment. still in her cloak stands caitlyn, stripping it off to sit beside you and vi. the tension in the air is thick and heavy... neither you nor vi wanting to discuss what had just transpired.
"you haven't been yourself either." you mumble under your breath.
although your knees are turned away from caitlyn and you aren't looking in her direction, she could tell who that was pointed toward.
"meaning what?"
caitlyn asks. cocking her head to one side the slightest bit- she seems to not take it to heart.
you slowly turn to face your girlfriend- azure locks tied back into a slick bun, her hair tousled from a hard day's work and dirt covering her carved features. it looks obscene in a way, to see the facade of perfection disturbed. but that's what you've come to love- and what you've come to miss.
"meaning... meaning that you're always home so late! and you don't tell me where you're going to be! i get that you're busy, you have a job to do, but you could at least not shut me out?"
"i'm not shutting you out, (y/n). i have a job to do. you know that."
she scoffs, but you can tell that she's trying to reassure you at least-
"apparently i'm doing the same thing."
"vi."
“what’s this about?”
“apparently i don’t let her in enough, and i’m a drunk.”
“i did not say that!”
“your drinking habits have become… concerning, violet. i won’t deny that.”
“so now you’re against me, too?! is that what you’re saying?”
“nobody is against you!”
“then you’re against caitlyn?”
you blubber trying to find words. your hands coming up to tangle in your hair and try to ground yourself. your voice is trembling and your heart is beating with the fervor of a war drum. how did it get to this point?
“i- look, can we please just talk about this, like the adults that we are?”
you manage to mutter.
“we are talking, (y/n).”
caitlyn sighs. her shoulders are tense and it sounds almost as if she’s holding in a breath, scared to say anything else.
“neither of you are listening.” a tear falls. your voice, your resolve… it’s so weak.
you can’t do it. caitlyn can’t bring herself to look at you, vi’s practically glaring through you, and each time you open your mouth, it feels like you’re wasting air. if they don’t want to hear it, they don’t have to.
you stand up from the bed to leave. your knees feel weak, threatening to buckle under you at any moment. but one foot in front of the other- you need to be anywhere but here.
neither vi nor caitlyn try to stop you.
✧.*
your feet hover above miles of nothingness. sat on a cobblestone wall in piltover, the sky hues of pink and orange and the cold temperatures nipping at your skin.
you came here to clear your mind. the sky and nature was always something that grounded you. the sun setting soothed your fiery nerves after… whatever had happened the previous day. you decided to stay out for the time being.
you just couldn’t bear to be in that apartment, not now.
“(y/n)?”
you hear behind you, so hushed. so quiet, it might’ve been mistaken for the wind by anyone else. but you recognized that rasp.
your knees came closing in, hugging close to your chest. you place your chin atop your knees and let out a sharp exhale.
“(y/n), i fucked up. we both did.”
before you could snap back about you having done nothing to deserve what happened last night, you felt a firm grasp on your shoulder. out of the corner of your eye, you could see those sapphire locks you had grown to adore. god damn it.
but your rationale betrays you. you feel your head turn ever so slowly over the same shoulder your girlfriend took, and look up at cait and vi. your eyelids heavy, tears threatening to spill at any moment.
vi swings a leg over the cobblestone. pressing her lips into a thin line and glancing back at caitlyn, then you. caitlyn opting to stand behind both of you, an intimidating presence. you wipe your eyes with your shirt sleeve.
"please, listen. i know i haven't been doing my part. to you, or to caitlyn. shit's just... been hard. okay? i don't understand what it is, but the drinking helps."
vi pauses.
"it doesn't help. it takes the edge off. but it isn't fair to either of you. so i'll try to let up, but cupcake-"
vi swiftly grasps both of your hands in her bandaged ones, rough callouses and healing injuries against smooth skin. taking on an almost pleading tone.
"you gotta give me time. this thing won't happen overnight, okay? but i never meant to shut you out. i'll tell you exactly where i'm at. call on me."
looking up at her, you notice the sincerity and warmth in her eyes. the way her thick brows are furrowed, the dark bags underneath those piercing eyes...
your shoulders relax.
"might i add," you hear from behind you.
"i also realize that staying out all day working like a hound isn't fair to you. it seems silly, in hindsight."
she scoffs, crossing lean arms over her chest. it's then when caitlyn finally sits beside you, opposite of vi, and leans down a sizable amount to rest her head on your shoulder. a sea of blue falling over your shoulder and chest, the girl on your arm softly humming.
"i appreciate it... really."
vi squeezes one of your hands, cait places a hand on your lap. neither look directly at you, but out at the night sky. now dark, ursa major front and center. as if it was there only for the three of you.
"no more arguing?"
caitlyn asks, honeyed voice just above a whisper. a press of soft lips into the crook of your neck.
"no more arguing."

Thinking about the parallels in this show even within the episode ordering of both seasons and the small details mirrored across them.
Episode 1 - Starts with a historic tragedy in a city (the bridge for Zaun, the council bombing for Piltover) and showing the devastating loss of a parent as consequence
Episode 2 - After being focused on the characters in the original setting, we shift focus to the sister city and it's inhabitants
Episode 3 - Vi loses everyone she loves and is left alone. Someone hitting their loved one in the heat of the moment (Vi hitting Powder, Caitlyn hitting Vi). At the end we see a change in authority, the rise of a new, darker leader for the cities (Silco for Zaun, Caitlyn for Piltover) and the beginning of the villain arc for a blue-haired character (Powder/Jinx in S1, Caitlyn in S2)
Episode 4 - Vi is not shown at all during the episode (except at the very end for S1). Jinx ventures topside to wreak havoc
Episode 5 - Vi has to learn how to work with someone she perceives as an enemy (Caitlyn in S1, Jinx in S2)
Episode 6 - Caitlyn and Vi begin to trust (or learn how to again) each other. Vi returns to her childhood home (taken there by Caitlyn after being stabbed in S1, shown kneeling by the same pillar used to mark her and Jinx's heights in S2). By the end of the episode, things look promising (Vi finding Jinx in S1, the family being together in S2) only for everything to be torn away (Jinx seeing Cait and losing it before the Firelights separate them, Jayce-although I understand why now-killing Viktor and triggering the collapse and Isha sacrificing herself). Also Caitlyn supporting Vi's weight after she's been injured.
Episode 7 - Ekko finally makes a reappearance after being gone for all of Act II, Ekko and Jinx centered, Ekko seeing a glimpse of Powder before losing her again, painful all around but beautifully done
Episode 8 - Vi and Caitlyn have a moment (break up in S1, sex™ in S2), someone pleading for a cause in the council room (Vi for Piltover's support against Silco, Jayce for Zaun's support against Viktor), Jinx solidifying her hate for Caitlyn in S1 with her shimmer hallucinations vs giving Vi her blessing to be with her in S2. Also Caitlyn is naked in both episodes just saying (shower scene in S1 and the™ scene in S2)
Episode 9 - Vi loses her sister, but she isn't truly lost (she becomes Jinx in S1 but we see in later episodes that she can still be good, she dies in S2 but we see at the end that she probably escaped through the air ducts), Caitlyn's life is changed forever because of what she chose to do in the season (losing her mom in S1 because she chose to investigate deeper, losing her eye in S2 because she let herself be manipulated by Ambessa). Jayce and Viktor's fates are left to speculation again (did they survive the explosion in S1, where are they or did they die in S2). Jinx ends up alone again, but instead of killing someone she loved (Silco), she saved someone she loved (Vi). She also saves Vi in both finales by killing her father (Silco, who was going to shoot Vi, and Vander who was going to shred her to pieces). The S2 ending is happier than S1 but it doesn't necessarily feel good, still bittersweet and melancholy. Caitlyn and Vi leaning on each other (out of necessity in S1 and out of love in S2) as their last appearances of the season
The list goes on and on, but despite some of the things I think that could've been executed better or paced differently this season, I still think the care and attention to detail put into this show is unmatched and I've loved every second of watching Arcane in its entirety.

More people need to start admitting to themselves that Cait and Vi’s first on-screen kiss was an act of manipulation on Cait’s part, this particular instance being the 2nd-3rd time in the season she has manipulated Vi to benefit her self-absorbent desire to avenge her mother following her death.
Especially taking into consideration what happens directly before the particular scene and what happens directly afterward.
Vi is also in an emotionally vulnerable position for a couple of reasons:
With her having only been released from prison for just over a month at this point in time, she is still having troubles with all the major changes in her life that have been thrust upon her and the rapidly occurring events of s1e9 finale to the start of s2 are only making this worse.
She has an unhealthy emotional attachment style where it causes her to be unconditionally loyal to a fault, a fault so severe she’s willing to sacrifice almost everything about herself and her belief system in order to receive what she sees as love. (Emphasis on the what she sees). To add, because she has been so starved and devoid from love and affection for a long time, she’s willing to settle for absolutely anything, the bar is in hell.
Her strong emotional attachment to Caitlyn, which she conflates with love, is also combating with her relationship to Jinx (I would also argue Ekko but because their friendship was completely forgotten about by the writers in s2 [fuck y’all for that] I’m mainly gonna focus on Jinx here). Being coerced by Caitlyn to believe that the plans for the “strike team” are “the best & only other way” to go about finding Jinx and the measures that Caitlyn is willing to go to to find Jinx, Vi is also struggling with the possibility of having to either kill Jinx herself or witness Jinx be killed by another because THAT IS HER SISTER. No matter what Vi would never let her sister die.
Even the people at Fortiche who animated this scene done so in a way that was meant to feel like something was off about it; how they start off with a landscape shot with them being so physically distant from eachother (which also foreshadows the eventual emotional distance along with the events of episodes 4-5), eventually leading to the close-up side-profile shot of Vi with an expression of absolute hopelessness as she shoots into the void with her pleas for stability and (what she sees as) love, Caitlyn then swooping in and taking up 3/4 of the frame like a falcon hunting its prey before coaxing Vi though initiating the kiss and making a broken promise, to then end with with the landscape shot from the beginning and instead of having the common shot of two people kissing in the centre of the frame, the two of them are off to the far right hand side as Vi both literally and figuratively lets her guard down by dropping the gauntlets and succumbing to Caitlyn via reciprocating the kiss, following her lead and shortly continuing on with Cait’s plan which is what she’d been doing the past two episodes.
If even a self-proclaimed CaitVi stan who creates film analysis content for Tiktok was able to see that this was an act of manipulation on Caitlyn’s part, it’s time to wake up y’all.

What's coming AFTER Arcane? I have some thoughts...
ACT 3 SPOILERS! The show is out, but I know not everyone has been able to see it yet. This post is a long one, but I have a bunch of images inline with my analysis to support my hypotheses.
....
In the episode 9 epilogue, we see a three-eyed raven pecking at some arcane-corrupted rubble.
Tumblr media
This raven is almost certainly one of Swain's Demon Ravens, which serve as his eyes and ears. Who is Swain? Oh, just the warlord leader of Noxus.
Meanwhile, the next scene shows us Caitlyn and Vi after an unknown amount of time has passed since the attack.
Caitlyn is sporting a fancy eyepatch. Fetch!
Tumblr media
She's reviewing and adding to the Kiramman archives. As she does so, she gently holds part of one of Jinx's detonated monkey bombs. Her expression looks pensive and reflective.
Tumblr media
A few of the archive's frames show documentation and schematics for Hexgates. I think Hextech isn't totally out of the picture for Piltover in the future. But Caitlyn isn't rash. The writers are showing us the info in the archives so that we know the technology isn't lost, even if its creators are missing or presumed dead.
Edit: After reading others' analysis, it's possible Caitlyn is looking at the schematics and seeing the ducts that Jinx could have hidden in to escape the explosion. The monkey bomb and Caitlyn's smile could indicate that. It's at least hinted that Jinx might not be dead. There's another edit lower down on the same topic.
Tumblr media
Caitlyn overhears Vi's solemnly humming and is drawn to her.
Tumblr media
And we cut to see Vi sitting by the fire in an expansive, dimly lit room.
Tumblr media
Caitlyn joins Vi by the fire and remarks on her singing. Vi tells her it's a tune her mother used to sing... She appears to be at the beginning of her healing, embracing the beauty in the things she's lost. And she's lost so much.
Tumblr media
And then Caitlyn rests her head on Vi's shoulder and asks her, "Are you still in this fight, Violet?" She calls Vi by her full name... This, plus the other reciprocated physical closeness in this scene, shows a deep level of intimacy, trust, and realism that we haven't yet seen between them until now.
Tumblr media
Vi reassures her, she's here and she's not going anywhere, using a very Vi metaphor.
Tumblr media
And then Vi rests her shoulder on Caitlyn, reciprocating the physical gesture Cait did to Vi earlier in the scene.
Tumblr media
But what fight is Caitlyn alluding to? Sure, it could be a metaphorical reference to the dedication to their relationship. I think the writers intentionally implied that.
However...I think there's a -real- fight coming. In the last frame of Caitlyn and Vi together, Cait looks emotionally touched by Vi's reassurances and trust. AND...she looks determined. She's committed to Vi and to whatever is coming next...
WAIT... WHAT... WHAT'S COMING NEXT?
Tumblr media
Well...let's go back to Swain's three-eyed raven and newly introduced antagonists: Mel's sister and the Black Rose organization. What do Swain, Mel's sister, and Black Rose all have in common?
Noxus.
With one of Swain's Demon Ravens appearing and Mel exposing her sister's duplicity in the last episode, we have a solid setup for a future installment of a League of Legends story arc. It's very likely that Mel's sister is a woman named LeBlanc, a very powerful and manipulative magic user from Noxus that can impersonate anyone.
In League of Legends lore, Noxus is regularly invading other nations. Caitlyn's father is originally from Ionia, so perhaps Cait, Vi, and Mel will go there to investigate.
In the fancy airship, because they're not using Hexgates.
Tumblr media
OMFG... Does this mean we might get more Cait and Vi???
Tumblr media
Let's GOOOOO!!!!!
Thanks for making it this far! What do you think? Are we getting more Cait and Vi in a new series?
Edit: Some have speculated that the airship could signify that Jinx is still alive and that's she's on it and leaving Piltover to go somewhere else in Runterra. That doesn't rule out the story continuing in Ionia or Demacia nor Cait and Vi being involved. I stand by my analysis of Caitlyn's comment about "this fight" being more than asking Vi if she's committed to their relationship.

possibly hot take from me as a Vi stan, but hear me out
Vi didn't need a verbal apology for being hit
Tumblr media
again hear me out
In s1, she never gave Jinx a verbal apology for hitting her. She gave her two verbal apologies for leaving her. But you know why Vi seemed more genuine with Jinx than Cait did with her?
Her show of remorse.
Vi was the perfect example of how one, show dont tell is used, and two, where media literacy can actually be brought up. And where the scripts and what the writers say actually mattered.
When she hit powder, she immediately regretted it, when using media literacy you can see this when she looks down at her hands after she did it, and can see the blatant remorse on her face. When she hit her, she needed to get away not to hurt her again in the heat of the moment. She was determined not to hurt her again.
When she is taken away, she uses what little resources she has (which are literally nothing, just silco's goons who probably dont even know what she's talking about when it comes to "powder"). She spends seven years trying to get back to her sister to make up for what she did. To make up for calling her a jinx and for hurting her.
When she finally gets the chance she immediately apologizes. She's gentle with her sister and comforting, letting her know that everything would be okay.
When things go haywire she tells her she wouldn't abandon her again.
We see Vi ON SCREEN talk about her guilt about leaving Jinx and see her pour her heart out to Caitlyn, remorseful about what she did, and for the leaving her on the bridge (which i dont blame her for she was literally just shot at and had an injured person with her).
She once again when faced with jinx, apologizes, tells her how much she meant to her by letting her know how her time in prison was spent, and even offers to run away with her to get her away from this "monster" (who she has yet to find out Jinx had a genuine connection with) even if it meant leaving with someone who at this point she knew could kill her (she mentions to Ekko she can't promise she won't die trying to get her to change her ways).
While Vi's show of remorse in some cases are more extreme and I wouldn't advocate for them in a normal circumstances (again like not looking out for her own wellbeing when dealing with someone she knows could put her in danger or worse), it was the perfect mix of everything ppl yap about now. "you lack media literacy", "show don't tell", the works...they managed to pull all of that off with Vi last season.
If they could've done this same thing with Caitlyn, maybe my and a lot of people's attitude would be different toward her and how she treats Vi. but she literally does the complete opposite of everything listed here.
She waits for a few seconds before hitting Vi, leaves and never comes back (people point out the .3 seconds of her grimacing and go "see!? she felt bad!" but literally everything I'm about to mention points to something different), is never shown giving a fuck about her outside of what other characters say, which doesn't mean much when she can't even be bothered to treat Vi well when they are together. She assaults her again when she runs into her and insults her appearance...and is willing to physically hit her again when its not necessary. She condescends to her, telling her to "calm down for once" when Vi's rightfully upset, and still expects trust out of her and for what..? And when she is on screen all we see is that she's replaced Vi and is sleeping with someone else, and speaking of that's the only thing she does try to apologize for...not for hurting vi, not for saying shitty things to her, not for being condescending to her, for sleeping with someone else...and while Vi is away she doesn't use ANY of the unlimited resources she has to make sure she's okay. They couldn't even write her telling Vi that she hurt her...matter of fact that gloss over it and phrase it as Vi just "being away"...
It's lacking...and to try and act like ppl are just dumb for holding arcane writers to a standard they themselves set for their own show is just ridiculous.
Vi didn't need a verbal apology necessarily, she needed a thorough show of remorse...and we barely got it.

It's bugging me...
The inconsistencies and a lack of detail and continuity in S2. S1 was all about the tiniest details.
Don't get me wrong, the animation is gorgeous, BUT --
The underwater scene is where Jinx lets Silco go.
He was RIDDLED with bullets. Yet, not a mark on him?
Why is his damaged eye closed? I thought he didn't have an eyelid. Artistically, I think having his lifeless eyes glazed over would have been more dramatic, considering it's Silco. Nah, he just sinks like Jack to the depths of the Titanic.
How deep IS the Pilt River?? I'm assuming that's where she 'buried' him.
The whole first act is so damn rushed.
No one seems to wonder what happened to Silco? He was only the main person holding the Underground together by the strands of his pomade hair. His death is a BIG deal, yet it's glossed over. No one questioned any of it???
Sevika is just, okay, let's move on like it's another day (granted, Zaunites are probably predisposed to be like that, but that doesn't make for good storytelling if you're not letting the audience in on anything), and chatting it up with Jinx as if they just bonded. I didn't feel that happen. I like that they low-key ripped into him post mortem, because that feels natural but what got them in that room together DOESN'T.
I want to know how these characters FEEL. You got that in spades during S1. But S2 is just expecting you to assume or they would attempt to take the time to use what would be great writing and evolving these characters.
Caitlin is hurting, I get it. But she went full Commando Psycho mode. Girl, everyone has lost parents, siblings, etc... She doesn't even flinch when Vi tells her Enforcers killed BOTH her parents. She's lost a beloved sister... but Cait is affronted when Vi shirks from becoming an Enforcer. Let's just forget what PIltover did to Zaun for generations and to LOADS of people.
Vi? Oh girl. What happened to you?
Jinx is a bit better but not much. I don't buy Silco's death was a zap to the brain to chill her out a bit. She's still my Chaos Queen but unless there is something to explain some shit in the following episodes, I'm going to be really ticked at the lack of care in characterizations with who are the supposed leads in this story.
Jesus Viktor. That's it. That's all I got.
Well, I did LOL when he woke up and gave Jayce the "bye Felicia" in 2.2 seconds.
We don't get to know what Ekko is thinking since all this shit went down? As far as he knows, Jinx is dead and to learn to she bombed Piltover?
The music videos substituting for the plot are REALLY bugging me. It's lazy writing. The music was used well in S1 to ENHANCE the scene (well, except for giving Imagine Dragons an animated cameo). Here, it's used as exposition, but it's not nearly good enough.
Useless characters and side-characters. Poorly executed plot devices. Uninteresting plot devices and trying to use the S1 parallels for characterizations.
S1 took time to introduce and flesh out these characters, even the side-characters.
We only had Vander for 3 episodes but he was a HUGE character. Marcus, Mylo, Claggor, Benzo, Grayson, Finn.... all were interesting and played an important part.
Jayce continues to be blah. So I'm not bothered.
Ambessa looks to be the new villain but it's not hitting with me. Plus, there's zero foreshadowing on some stuff in her arc that would have been useful last season.
I like Mel but I'm waiting to see what happens with her.
Hermydingding going all Mission Impossible. Just stop. Does he not give two furry fucks about what happened to his fellow councilmembers and Piltover?
I feel like RIot is trying to shove way too much into one season and sacrificing good story-telling to do it.
I miss the details.
So far, I'm really underwhelmed with this season.

Still waiting for our lovely creative writers to give us steamy smut of vi x catyline. I hope it's more of a series. One shots are also fine.
Like :
1. Vi first time and cait taking the lead as poor vi never touched anyone.
Tumblr media
2. Commander Cait taking vi as prision after vi left her in that rain. She gonna prove her that they oil and fire not oil and water.
3. Cait getting possessive and jealous of the girls reaching vi all the time. I mean those biceps.. Bulky body.. Even the guy looks bland in front of her. She need to show who vi belongs to and she wanna show who Vi craves for.. And who can satisfy vi properly.
Tumblr media
4. Cait give birth to twins. It was magical babies so they both have cait and vi genes.Cait is like a happy rule breaking father. Meanwhile cait is like a acting strict and serious mother who is raising 3 kids. 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Vi and cait breakup after vi stopped her from shooting jinx and isha.
Jinx surrender to cait after isha's death.
Vi visit cait to let her sister go.
Cait make a proposal to vi that she will let jinx go if vi replace her sis but not in prision but her bedroom. Cait hated vi but she can't forget about vi. Even if she used different people in bed.
Tumblr media
6. Vi is an intersex. Arrange Marriage proposal between vi and caitlyn to make alliance better under city and upper city.
Caitlyn hates vi bcz she knows that jace was in prision due to vi and her gang.
Vi loves caity the moment she saw her when she was stealing in jace office. But she acts all tough.
Tumblr media
7. Caitlyn got a gift from ambessa for getting a high rank promotion and becoming a powerful and richest person in such a young age in the entire country and winning the war against different cities.
The gift was inside the cage and the cage was shaking a lot like they captured some lion in it with angry oil slick hair.
The smirk on cait face and the rage on. Ex gf angry oil slick explains everything..
Tumblr media
8. Angry hate sex between ex lovers cait and vi. 🔥
Tumblr media
9. Vi is in prision as she surrender herself instead of Jinx. Caitlyn enter her prision telling her that she predicted her move and vi fell right into her trap just like some rabbit in a very seductive and taunting way. Telling Vi that She is like an angry pet.. Easily fooled and tamed.
Tumblr media
10. Caitlyn is gifted Vi as a pet for her 18th birthday. Vi hate caitlyn. Caitlyn is very arrogant snobby smart person and loves Vi the moment she saw her. She is brat to everyone except vi. But vi is very cold to her. She just satisfy cait when caitlyn want her to. For caitlyn it's love but for vi it's like doing a slave duty. Will love ever blossom between them? Can caitlyn break rich and poor person ideology.

so people have been wondering why caitvi is a lot less popular now within the arcane fandom than ships with timebomb or jayvik and as someone who ships them let me explain mostly why this is happening, of course mostly from the writing perspective as there is likely some misogyny included in said reason but thats just what ive heard and not seen (this does NOT mean it isnt happening though). and im also not including it because im just addressing why even some caitvi shippers (that i know) ended up not caring for it in s2
(click read more because this... this is a long one)
Tumblr media
first off im stating that this is just a combination of what ive seen from other people and my own opinions. in your opinion these points can be completely dogshit and thats okay because they're opinions. not fact. with that being said lets get started.
1. Tension, s2 act 2 kills almost ALL of the tension that the first act sets up. in the first act you have them getting together, you have them finally kissing and breaking the previous tension in s1 then to keep people interested in the ship in the same episode they have them breakup. and this works people talked a SHIT ton about this and were going feral over it, looking at the trailer and seeing 'oh look at emo vi and her dictator gf!!' and even the 'there are two ways to handle a gay break up' memes. it was all over.
people were feral, waiting for the next act to see them interact and have beef with each other (before inevitably getting back together because we all knew it would happen). but in act two we dont really get that. we get the aftermath from vi's perspective and kinda cait's???? but then we have their interaction and people are hyped at this moment. because this is the moment. the one that they were all waiting for and there's a small scuffle before... it stops.
vi calls cait cupcake and... all if forgiven rather quickly in that scene (obviously in act 3 they have some more drama but we'll talk about it later). they have their moment and its cute. you have cait folding after being called cupcake, its cute. but thats just the thing. its nothing else but cute. there are still stakes dont get me wrong but that moment is just... so bad for cait's character. she has the whole dictator arc and it just takes vi calling her a pet name for her to switch sides.
and yes its adorable, its everything you want in a ship. but it doesnt really make sense when you take in account everything that they've been building up for cait. her dictator arc, her gassing zaun, training with ambessa, losing her mother, breaking up with vi. it all seems undermined by vi calling her a petname and all of the sudden the tension is taken out of their relationship.
they get back together (sorta) and help plan to take down ambessa and that's all it took. its like having a really evil villain who did a ton of bad things but the good guy gives them a pep talk (vi doesnt even do that) and all of the sudden their mind changes completely
it's not realistic, it doesn't make sense.
then you have act 3 and where vi actually confronts cait about ambessa and her going along with her actions and they have a small argument thats kinda just resolved by cait saying that she knows what she did wrong and that she tried helping jinx not get arrested too and then BAM there's a shift in the argument and then we're back to jinx and it never gets brought up again (correct me if im wrong)
their relationship follows this, happy moment, create something that causes tension, build up tension, refuse to follow through.
its like its tightening a string on an instrument to get a tone but before you pluck it the string loosens and all of the sudden you get this really really dull and kinda disgusting sound that doesn't leave you feeling 100% satisfied in the end
or if you're an artist almost filling in a circle completely but at the last second you color just a little bit outside the lines. it's not satisfying.
2. The sex scene, this is just mostly stuff ive seen and while i dont agree with all of it i must say that they do have their valid points of thinking that the scene was a little misplaced. most of the complaints of seen of this is that vi was out of character and that she should've been looking for jinx since it was implied that jinx was going to kill herself to 'fix' everything. and while i dont think vi couldve really known this i do see where theyre coming from as vi is inherently protective of jinx and her actions and even if there was the slightest chance that she might harm herself vi would do anything in her power to stop it and... she just doesnt.
when cait unlocks the cell she doesnt rush out to jinx, she just wallows a bit longer and mopes (WHICH IS FUCKING VALID BTW). then you have cait talk to her and... SEX. yeah there is other stuff between that but some people felt that they shouldve had them have their talk and then had vi rush out to help jinx.
a lot of people also felt that cait was taking advantage of vi in this moment (i do NOT agree with this at all) to an emotional extent and saying how the scene didnt feel right because vi wasnt in her best state (i agree slightly with this) and that the sex in the cell wasnt really reclaiming anything from all those years of being in the cell like the directors originally intended it to
then you have people saying that it was misplaced (and i kinda agree) and that it just felt so sudden for the both of them especially considering everything with them and then there's the next reason...
3. Caitlyn herself, there was so much drama about her character. in the first arc you have people defending her actions and who were ready to die for her and people getting mad at her, saying she was the worst and that she didnt deserve vi after what she did to her. this also comes with her character being set up to do a lot of evil shit in the future. there was drama (when is there not) and that meant the majority of people loved or hated her with a slim minority not really caring her for at all.
she was implied to have gassed zaun (actually its not even really implied as she, vi, and the gang do it that one episode in a montage and they actually show them doing it for like... a scene or two) and overall just have been a really shitty person to zaunites. she slept with maddie (which people HATED) and they kept leading up to her being the big bad the person who vi would have to convince but once again... they meet and all tension is ruined.
cait's character is one of the best and worst things in arcane. they did such a good job setting her up only to fumble last second and yeah... thats enough to effectively kill a ship as one half of it is the other character (assuming is a monogamy ofc) and 50% is not passing. people arent going to be as committed to a ship when they hate the other character in it and thats just a fact
4. Time, it just... didnt work. timebomb got a full episode (practically) devoted to it and jayvik was kinda in there as crumbs. not to mention that their entire arc is sprinkled a lot more effectively and more long lasting throughout s2 of arcane. with timebomb THEY GOT A WHOLE EPISODE
people already like both characters of ekko and jinx so yeah theyre going to go feral over what coudlve been. the dance, everything and it effectively builds up tension with showing us how good everything couldve been and fully releases it in a satissfying way with ekko's leave. with jayvik you have him going insane and realizing that he has to kill viktor in order to stop what happens in the future (GIVING US THE ANSWER TO WHAT HAPPENED IN EP6 and this also gives us more tension in the relationship when viktor comes back).
you have ekko stopping jinx from ending her life (another reason people didnt like the sex scene cause jinx was actively trynna off herself during it) and telling her to give living another chance because you can build something more you can start again. and you also have the implications of them drawing on themselves in the artbook and just in general during the show. you have the hot air balloon contraption that they create. its everything
jayce then meets with viktor in the room and there is tension so much tension and it all goes to them. then you have jayce confronting and giving himself to viktor on the battlefield and its so well written. now, personally i have my issues with how jayce talk not jutsu-ed viktor into stop being evil or whatever (personally that scene was like a 6/10 for me). "BUT WAIT WHAT ABOUT YOUR COMPLAINTS WITH VI AND CAIT AND CAIT FOLDING AFTER BEING CALLED CUPCAKE?!?!" they would be lessened if we were shown them talking and discussing what happened, what went wrong. with them we dont do that, we dont get the release of them regretting what they've done, their actions. that declaration of love.
with jayvik we do (love can be interpreted as romantic or platonic) and they probably spend more time in that scene talking about each other and how much they care for one another than caitvi do in the entirety of s2 when it comes to discussing their relationship.
basically what happened was that the writers confirmed 'yes theyre canon now, nothing else is going to happen to them. okay time to focus on other things' and caitvi got sidelined SO HARD in the end that come people stopped caring for them entirely and put more attention to ships and dynamics that were getting more attention and love from the show.
basically thats all i could think of and its 1am so sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes lol. tell me if i got anything wrong, if you agree or just your general opinions on the matter because this is what i could find/gather about them. have a good day/night everybody :)

arcane season 2 oversimplified pros and cons
PROS:
-Caitlyn villain arc (so sue me).
-EMO VI (ik she was depressed guys but she was hot and i love her and also she deserves to crash out after all the shit she's been through, so--)
-Jinx/Isha/Sevika being the cutest little found family the entire damn show.
-At first I thought that the vi-jinx fight was too early in the season, but it ended up really working out and yk what it ATE. My sister and I have had the same fight over the tv remote.
-Sevika's gambling arm is sooo jinx I love it.
-THE SOUNDTRACK HELLO???
-Warwick/Vander recognizing his daughters!!!!
-HAIR DOWN JINX! HAIR DOWN JINX! HAIR DOWN JINX!
-Jinx and Caitlyn not hating each other (completely) anymore/letting go of their hatred of each other and freeing Vi to not feel so torn between them anymore--
-Which is why vi and cait only hook up after that? Because vi can finally feel okay committing to a relationship with someone else without feeling like she's abandoning her sister.
-ALL of episode seven omg my babies could've been so happy (except vi but in my head she's fine in both universes).
-Viktor's monologue in episode 6 abt humanity.
-More Mel screentime
-Ambessa talking about Kino omg my heart
-Ekko talking Jinx out of yk what MY HEART
-JINX AND EKKO SAVING THE DAY
-MEL AND CAIT TEAM UP
-Vi calling Caitlyn Cait and Caitlyn calling Vi Violet
-JAYCE LOVING VIKTOR'S IMPERFECTIONS I'M--
CONS:
-Mel's powers are lk giving MCU
-Needed more episodes (like 2-3) to flesh out the plotlines
-Feels less grounded than s1; like, I know s1 also had magic and stuff, but idk it felt more "real."
-Feels like they kind of diverted from the themes? I guess viktor's cult counts as "themes of progress," but it wasn't as touched on i feel like?
-The entire handling of the undercity's oppression in act 3. It's weird af idc. None of these people should be fine working with topside; it's not a both-sides-dealt-equal-harm-to-the-other situation, one side's oppressed and the other's the oppressors?
-I feel like we still? Didn't touch on? Vi's trauma? As much as we could have?

A JINX ARC 3 CHARACTER STUDY
Arcane act 3 served as a brutal reminder to just how impactful Isha was to Jinx mental health
Season 2 starts after Jinx just killed Silco and attached the leadership of Piltover. We see her drifting, lost, till she finds Isha. Or rather, till Isha drops on her.
And then we see a visibly lighter Jinx. She jokes around, she's more sarcastic and she seems to be lighter. She didn't even want to join the Piltover/Zaun conflict. She was, maybe, content. To just live with Isha in that little hideout, playing monster Bash with Stink Maw and the others. And when she got back into fighting, she only did it because Isha was captured.
But then Isha died and when we see Jinx in the final arc, we see probably the quietest version of the character we've ever seen. Jinx has looked angry, sad, happy and even crazy, but for the first time, we saw Jinx tired. Not the physical tired, but the mental tired. She didn't even try to escape from Cait's officers and let herself be arrested after making sure Vi was okay.
She feels like she is truly a Jinx. First, in season one her bomb caused the deaths and her eventual separation from Vi. Then she killed Silco. And then Isha, sweet Isha who loved and admired her no matter her crimes, died right in front of her.
Why did Isha's death have that much impact? What was it about Isha?
There's many reasons.
Vander and Silco had already happened by then. She never truly recovered from those losses. In Zaun, there really is no time for grief, just survival. And Jinx was a bottled up character filled with grief. Grief over a childhood lost due to her attempt to help. And then the grief over the man who took her in after that, and who died at her hand. Isha was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Or maybe it was because Isha loved her even when she became Jinx. Her childhood friends and family loved powder. Silco loved Jinx, yes. But Silco also used Jinx in his business.
But Isha? Isha looked at Jinx, what she saw as the worst version of herself, and loved her unapologetically. Admired her, modelled herself after her and followed her everywhere. That was something she never had. And then she tried so hard, so so hard to keep that feeling, only to lose it.
Isha brought life to jinx. Don't get me wrong, Jinx was always alive. But Isha brought something Jinx didn't feel in so long. Contentment. Jinx was content at that hideout with just Isha. Jinx was never the type of character to stay in one place, even when she was powder. She had a restless soul and it showed in how she was everywhere as powder and Jinx. But with Isha, she was content to just stay in the hideout. And even when it came to leaving that safe space, she only did it for one person. Isha.
She took the death of Isha so hard, she tried killing herself. And even at the end, that loss, that sense of being tired, still never left her.
Honestly I was not surprised when she let go of Vi's glove. She had already said her goodbyes in that prison. When she told Vi "you don't need to feel guilty about being happy", she had said her goodbye. She was all done with it all. She was tired. And Isha's death was the tipping point. Even there, looking at her sister, her one family left, she was still so done. So so tired of losing everyone and thinking it was her fault. She said earlier in the season that everyone that gets close to her dies. And she looked at the one last person that was close to her, Vi. She probably remembered everyone that was close to her that she lost. Their parents. Vander. Silco. Her childhood friends. And the most recent and the one that hurt the most, Isha. She thought of them, and looked at her only sister. The only person she loved who was still alive and thought, maybe if I'm gone, she could be happy. And she went into the dark unknown.
That shows that despite everything she had been through, Jinx still could love, in her own way. She was not a perfect character. She made mistakes, was impulsive, sometimes cruel and even violent. But she was the a product of her environment. Zaun was fucked and so kept on producing fucked up children growing into that fucked up society and becoming fucked up teenagers and adults who eventually gave birth to kids and the whole cycle repeats itself.
Maybe Jinx is still alive. Maybe she's dead
But there's one thing that's for sure
Jinx is done with Piltover and Zaun. There's nothing left for here there but voices and ghosts and the one sister who she has said her goodbyes to.
It's time for Jinx and Powder to rest

Predictions for Arcane as a franchise + my thoughts! Season 2, Act 3 spoilers ahead.
Tumblr media
jayce, viktor, and jinx can't be dead. Let me tell you why.
no. 1, Arcane's been pretty explicit with deaths. Silco, Vi and Cait's moms, Benzo, the sergeant from season 1 act 1 etc etc we've all seen dead bodies, time pass without them coming back, or character arcs shifting to accommodate deaths (lsha's and Silco's death shaping Jinx). In season 2, Maddie's, Ambessa's, and random extra's deaths were all shown on screen. Therefore, if we don't see a body, the body's still moving.
Tumblr media
no. 2, while this is Arcane's last season, there's going to be more Runeterra shows. Of course we don't know what's going to happen over there, but I don't think Riot and Fortische are just going to throw Arcane's characters away unless they do. "the arcane is waking up" and all that jazz. Seems to me like the arcane isn't back to sleep, and who has experience with the arcane. Oh, right, all these cool guys. Leading to points 3 and 4.
Tumblr media
no. 3, Jayce's crystal, given to him by the mage (Viktor) in season 1, was used for teleportation, if I remember correctly. Rather than dying/getting sucked into the crystal, they've been teleported somewhere else and will be used to shift the focus onto that location. This fits. Moving to a completely different location would disrupt the glorious evolution. Plus we didn't see their bodies so.
EDIT: apparently it was the rune of insight or smth. my bad. Still, theres a chance? Please Riot, pleaaseee

from arcanegifs
no. 4, Jinx my beloved. There was a line of shimmer leaving the explosion at the bottom of the pit, and the epilogue of Cait looking at the pit and seeing air ducts hints that Jinx/Powder escaped. I'm pretty sure the Zepplin shown at the end was to imply she left Piltover and Zaun, finally becoming her own person. Throughout the show, her identity was determined by her relationships (hair mirroring Silco's, smoke tattoos for Vi, mental illness from causing her brothers' deaths), and with hallucination Silco suggesting the best way to change the Cycle of Killing is leaving, that's what she chose to do. Additionally, her handwriting for the "the end" at the finale suggests that she was there to write it. She's alive guys trust me. Her change of scenery can be used to shift the focus to a different location.
Tumblr media
My personal Thoughts:
on no. 4, I would hate it if they decided to kill Jinx after she found herself. It's overused. Seeing Jinx/Powder finally become herself without Silco's, Zaun's, and her sister's baggage in a new place would be super interesting. As someone who doesn't play League, I've heard there's some blond character she's shipped with from a different country/city? Foreshadowing perhaps? Plus it'd be so in character for her to start a new series with a chaotic "I bet you're wondering what I did after I faked my death."
Cait and Vi will probably remain in Piltover/Zaun doing reform (the show's whole point). The reason why Vi didn't look super duper sad is probably because she's going through shock or because Cait reassured her that Jinx/Powder isn't dead (air ducts). Ekko's probably going to do reform w/ the power couple because that's his motivation.
The sex scene's context is a bit odd, but Jinx literally gave Vi permission to be with Cait so... ? When life gives you lemons, give your gf head i guess. Wish Cait did apology head though, she really hurt Vi... But then again, Vi probably wanted to get lost in the sauce and forget about everything around her, hence the "I don't fucking care" comment.
Jayce was right, Viktor was blinded. Love that they're in love.
It's so interesting to see Sevika going from backing revolutionaries (Silco and Vander) to becoming a revolutionary herself and actually getting a seat on the council!! She went from kingmaker to king.
Thought season 2 was kinda rushed? Idk wished we had hour long episodes just to flesh things out.... still a great season.
It's not over. With the success this show's been giving Netflix, there's at least twenty more on the horizon. God bless Riot and Fortische.
Tumblr media
going to go cry now.

My thoughts on season 2 Act one-
Overall: Not as good as season one for sure, but still pretty good. Needs more silco. Too fast paced, but good music, loved the Hellfire scene and Vi/Jinx fight, plus Viktor went biblical and lost his manhood. Magic stuff too confusing with not enough buildup in season 1 and parallels way too obvious.
Now more specifically.
Screw Heimerdinger. Screw Smeech. Screw Renni. And guess what? I'm going to say it.
Yes
Screw Vi.
We were in such denial with her being an Enforcer, we convinced ourselves she was lying to Cait about giving up on Jinx just to protect her. I was really surprised that she genuinely turned on Jinx. I think Vi would have killed Jinx if it weren't for Isha. I'm not going to pretend like Vi was totally wrong, totally evil- Jinx did kill everyone, so I can see why Vi would give up on her. But personally I cannot forgive Vi this, so it was pretty disappointing seeing her take a complete 180 and hate Jinx like that. Also not fond of Cait, and it actually seems like she's to be a major villian now.
Heimerdinger better die, I'm so done with him. He seemed to get better in s1 act 3 but no. He is still annoying and has too much screentime in season 2.
Smeech is somehow even worse, my new least favorite character. He has a cool design visually but I'm glad he died so soon. Same with Renni, seriously launching an attack on Piltover, escalating tensions like that, because the one guy killed your son?
I'll miss the flashbacks we had at the beginning of the episodes in s1. The new intro was alright, it felt less interesting than the season one intro to me.
Jayce has too much screentime, the way he doesn't realize viktor was naked until after he hugs him was a little questionable, but it's OK because we find out later that the hexcore stole Viktor's privates. The JayVik breakup was very rushed, disappointing, and unclimactic, jayce acts like it didn't even happen. The Viktor in Zaun scenes felt like I was watching an animated version of the Bible, I'm not sure how Viktor knew that touching huck, who I thought (and wished) died in episode 6 would do that, but manhood or not, I think viktor has become hotter.
The leblanc thing was cool, but incredibly random and confusing, and I even knew a little about leblanc beforehand. There was literally zero buildup for this not just in season 1, but even in season 2 before all this happened. The Arcane in general was practically absent in season one besides the mage and hexcore, and then is suddenly thrown in our face in season two, which I thing contributed to the feeling of things being too fast-paced.
I'm mad we have not yet seen a silco hallucination. We better get one. The scene with Jinx letting him go was heartbreaking, but the way they kept flashing back to his death and baptism scene was incredibly annoying. We get it, this is a parallel to that, no one is thinking otherwise. In season one the parallels were nice and subtle, you don't even realize until looking deeper and it's a nice treat, but that is no longer the case. And then as he sinks we hear him say "have you had enough?" Again, we get it. We know what that is a parallel of.
I'm confused as to how singed just got up, went to the snowy place, found and killed a murk wolf, dragged it all the way back to his lair, and hoisted it up singlehandedly. Also confused about how literally everyone knows silco is dead already. Did jinx tell everyone? Did she admit that she killed him to sevika? Why doesn't sevika see jinx as a traitor?

Outlining Alternate CaitVi Endings (Revolution Version)
It's pretty obvious that I'm a lesbian who was deeply disappointed in CaitVi and writers' treatment of Zaun's oppression. In a combination of pettiness and creative & critical thought, I let myself explore some options for CaitVi endings that I would enjoy more. Scenario 1 is tragedy. Scenario 2 aims for happy-ish realistic endings.
Tumblr media
What my goals were
My preference would have still been no bury your gays or doomed lesbians. We get enough of that. But given the way the writers set up their lived experiences, decisions, and trauma, it doesn't seem likely that CaitVi's extensive list of issues would be resolved in such a small amount of time for a super happy ending. So I outlined CaitVi endings I would have enjoyed dissecting or would make more sense than whatever tf the writers settled for.
I mostly felt the issues with CaitVi were the massive unaddressed power imbalance, lack of time and scenes showing their growth, use of trauma for plot rather than realistic trauma informed writing, lack of awareness of lesbian history/ issues, and downgrading Vi to be more of a side character.
This does not dive into the nitty gritty details of Black Rose, Viktor Glorious Evolution, Timebomb, Singed, AU Arcane adventures plotlines they jammed in to the end. These mostly focus on the CaitVi dynamic as it relates to the Ambessa power grab / Zaun v Piltover plotline. Trying to think about how every single plotline intersects probably would have quadrupled this post length. Then again if I were in the writers' shoes, I wouldn't have jammed so many plotlines into a single 9 episode season.
Proposed change for roughly mid act 2 / early act 3 area:
Instead of a weird Avengers Endgame type of final battle, I would have loved to see a Zaun vs Piltover revolution ending. I want to see the impending class war they seemed to set up in season 1 and part of season 2 actually play out.
These endings below pick up after Cait with Maddie scene & pitfighter Vi and before Cait and Vi meet again and team up like they did in the valley. Instead, plot proceeds in a way that the Cait with Piltover and Vi with Zaun arcs get their time to actually develop. My proposed endings also assume a revolution is the ending. Zaun works their way up to fight for their freedom. I assume the escalation goes something like Paint the Town Blue rebellion > jailed > jail break > make specific demands for their freedom as a people > they are ignored so they escalate to a coordinated attack or two > the response is Piltover violence > final battle.
To me, in a Zaun v Piltover revolution ending, Vi and Jinx meet each other again and some factor (ideally not Warwick) pushes them together to try to make their bickery, broken sisterly relationship work. In the process, Vi reconnects with fellow Zaunites, maybe using her skills as a fighter to help build their revolutionary cause's offense and defense, teaching people to fight like she taught Ekko. Maybe this could happen alongside Sevika and we get to see the Vander traitor and Zaun class traitor dynamic play out.
There could also be potential moments where Vi is shown trying to recover from her alcoholism, nearly relapsing or relapsing. I didn't like how they just used addiction to show Vi struggling and then abandoned a characteristic that never stops when people are addicts in real life. I would prefer a more realistic depiction.
My main proposals surround 2 paths for Cait (with subsections):
Cait could go full Macbeth. Misguided and manipulated by Ambessa, she continues further down the path of letting her privileged opinions of Zaunites become full blown hatred and violence. Ambitious and strategic person that she is, Ambessa pushes propaganda that would strengthen Piltover's and especially Cait's prejudiced view that Zaun is a bunch of ruthless animals. I also envision Cait receiving a lot of planned (from Ambessa's minions) and unplanned (maybe from her dad who is not in a healthy state) validation about the "leadership and strength" she's showing in Piltover's time of need. That keeps Cait where she is.
Cait would still be Ambessa's lap dog, but clearly there's something simmering underneath that Cait is not 100% in it. As time goes by, she grows increasingly disillusioned with and guilt ridden about what Piltover is doing, but hides that, not trusting anyone, not even Maddie, with that information given the brewing war with Zaun. She starts thinking more and more about Vi and how she wish she could talk and work with her again, but regrets that she fucked things up. Maybe she has flashbacks of how she hit and abandoned vi. Closeups of the hit, a flash of Vi's crying face, or sounds of Vi's crying as Cait left the sewer.
Cait and Vi Reunite
Scenario 1
I would want the time that Cait and Vi to reunite to be during a battle, attempted Piltover attack from Zaun, or even the prison breakout mission with Jinx and Sevika, but with Vi participating somehow.
Cait would be present there and this could go a couple of directions
A.
Cait continues the Macbeth road, attacking Vi and in the process Vi gets to punch back and express everything she felt during her alcoholic self punishment phase. Cait fights and argues back. The "conversation" isn't necessarily productive, but they're both finally honest with each other during the brief moments they can get a few words in. Towards the end of the fight, there's a moment where Cait could kill Vi. Vi's attitude in that moment is "I dare you, go for it." But something holds Cait back and she can't do it.
Either Cait pushes Vi away and threatens Vi not to let her see her again OR Vi pushes her off noticing her hesitance and deep down sentimental person that she is, incapacitates her long enough to run away and join the battle elsewhere.
B.
Cait sees Vi from afar through her scope. She has the chance to take the shot but can't do it- too much commotion in the way. She runs closer to get a better shot, knowing to keep her distance. A flash happens that reminds her of a CaitVi moment of the past. Vi spots her and approaches to attack. They begin fighting, but Vi senses Cait is pulling her punches. Vi demands she fight full out. Cait, to her own surprise/ confusion, blurts out that she can't. Vi pushes her away and they sit there for a very brief moment in confusion and anger. Cait warns Vi not to let her see her again and yells at her to leave, Cait on the floor now and Vi walking away.
Cait stands and walks away after Vi has left but in future scenes, keeps thinking about why she wouldn't kill Vi. Tries to stay focused for Piltover, but fails over time. All this thinking about Vi transitions into privately thinking about the Zaunites and starting to resist Ambessa's propaganda. Then this 1B arc transitions to become 2 (jump to number 2 below).
2.
Conflicted about the crimes she committed under Ambessa and conflicted about the way she treated Vi, Cait searches Vi out in Zaun in disguise. She finds Vi privately and what ensues is a dual confession/ apology scene.
Maybe she finds Vi in that apartment she used during her pitfighter phase. While it's a bit cleaner, Cait still clocks the many hidden empty bottles Vi still hasn't thrown out yet. It's a clear picture for how Cait affected Vi.
Vi argues at Cait, detailing all the ways Cait betrayed the "Zaunites". At some point it becomes clear this speech has a dual meaning for what Cait actually did to the Zaunites AND how she treated Vi. Vi's walls are up with Cait again because of how Cait abandoned her near immediately after asking her not to change. Having her fear of abandonment retriggered, Vi resists because she wonders "what's keeping her from leaving again?"
Vi looks at her with disapproval as Cait begs for forgiveness, says she fucked up following Ambessa the way she did, wants to be a team like she and Vi used to be, etc. Vi resists all of Cait's attempts to hold her hands, look in her eyes, or otherwise get through to her. After all, Cait mostly initiates physical touch when she wants something from Vi. At one point Cait begs on her knees! (Mirroring the Cait abuse & abandoning in sewer moment). That's when Vi says she can't forgive her, but they can work together for Zaun and it has to be on her terms. Maybe Vi could lay out the boundaries OR she could have Ekko, a lifetime pillar in the Zaun community who always thought Cait was sus but originally gave her a pass bc she was with Vi, decide what conditions the revolution accepts Cait. Jinx somehow hears about this situation and does not want Cait in their community or near Vi- Jinx doesn't trust Cait at all. Jinx maintains an air of distrust and dislike for Cait.
Whoever lays the conditions out, Cait is not in a leadership position in Zaun. She is a pawn for their revolution who must remain deprived of the level of power she had before in Piltover as she helps them in their pursuit of freedom. Cait respects that decision. Cait's arc is either A. general pawn/ soldier or B. a spy for Zaun.
Situation 2 CaitVi development:
2A
Cait as Zaun pawn/ soldier arc
As a convert to the Zaun community, Cait joins in their preparations and community gatherings. The people are extremely hesitant at first because many remember her from the gassing / Jinx hunt. Cait has to work hard to earn their trust. It's a rough learning curve for Cait at first because rich, privileged Piltie that she is, putting others' needs before your own and working to earn people's trust isn't something she has much experience with and it's not a quick process.
Now that she is actually living with Zaunites, she sees firsthand the complexities of life in Zaun and the ways they create hope even during preparations for a revolution.
Cait grows to care for Zaun, finding ways to give back by teaching skills she learned in her rich upbringing that Zaun might not have had the chance to learn due to Piltover oppression. She also gives back with the insider knowledge she has of enforcer and other fighting techniques and city, building, and jail layouts.
In this process, Vi sees how Cait is changing and how she's starting to understand a core part of Vi's identity- Zaun- and begins to feel for and trust Cait again.
Without going too in depth about envisioning a Jinx arc, she would still be rockily navigating her mental illness and PTSD, her identity/ place in the world, her relationship with her sister, and her trinkets. But let's not forget season 1 Jinx hated Cait, especially for stealing Vi from her. Jinx would still have lingering resentment for her. In a 2A scenario maybe she gets to a point of accepting the reality that Cait will be around and isn't actively harming Zaunites, but doesn't force herself to like, trust, or pretend to like her. I wouldn't want Cait to grow to like Jinx either given the events of season 1 and early season 2. "You stay over there, I'll stay over here" vibes. In a 2A situation, they would put up with each other because they care for Vi and the bigger concern is preparing to fight Piltover; an "enemies to forced allies" dynamic. I think maintaining at least one Zaun character that never comes around and is always suspicious of Cait would be necessary. It makes sense that it's Jinx.
I could see Jinx having a moment where she confronts Cait as the final battle approaches, telling her that she doesn't trust her and she better not mess anything up (with the battle or with Vi) or else Jinx will rain fire down on her.
In 2A, CaitVi likely share lingering glances every once in a while. Cait very clearly wants Vi but knows better than to initiate without knowing if Vi wants that. As Vi's trust has grown and Cait's understanding has, maybe they share a tender moment (a kiss, or an intentional, slow make out sesh at most) around a fire at some point. If they were to kiss, Vi should initiate it.
Realistically sex isn't something I see them having in a second season given how much trust from Vi and understanding from Cait they need to build. But if sex were to happen at all, 2A is the most likely scenario and it should happen on Vi's turf. In my opinion, Cait should be the one learning how to make Vi happy. Vi deserves rest and reciprocal care for once. If they were to have a sex scene, maybe it would be "let's live tonight like it's our last" before a big battle. Or maybe it would be "I don't know if I trust you fully but part of me wants to try" and Cait being patient as Vi talks/ guides her through what she's comfortable with.
Ultimately, in this 2A scenario I would want CaitVi to mutually understand that they are drawn to one another but aren't fully committing to exploring that because the revolution takes precedence and they need to learn to trust and understand one another. They inevitably fall for each other along the way, so they let themselves indulge just a bit.
2B
Cait Spy arc
Cait returns to continue her life in Piltover, but as a mole. During rare calculated times when Ambessa is busy or even on lookout, Cait meets Vi or someone from Piltover to keep them updated with any new information. She gives them city or building layouts, updates on Ambessa's plans, fighting strategy and weapon intel, etc. The Zaunites, with the help of Cait, craft a plan for betrayal against Ambessa for the long term, not wanting to mess up what they know will be one opportunity to get it right. Maybe in true lesbian fashion, Cait and Vi exchange (likely coded) letters with one another. I bet Vi's writing is near illegible lol. Potential ode to the LoL Valentine's letters?
In this 2B situation, because Cait is a spy, she is mostly still spending her time in Piltover. She doesn't get as much time to understand the Zaun community firsthand because she can't arise suspicion in Ambessa. Like 2A, she becomes more firm in her resolution to fight for Zaun, but in 2B its more like "I'm done pushing the propaganda and crimes of Piltover, they must be stopped" instead of "Zaun is a unique, complex people who deserve freedom, we must end their oppression." In this 2B scenario, Cait is defined by what she fights against versus what she fights for.
I would also assume if Cait were a spy long term, there's a possibility Ambessa's suspicions would arise at some point and she would try to have Cait prove her loyalty somehow.
Vi still visits Cait every once in a while when it is safe to do so, whether for revolution or personal interest reasons. Her sneaking and parkour skills come in handy here. She's snuck into Cait's room before so she knows how to do it again. Her trust does build slightly for Cait seeing how determined Cait is to resist Piltover. But with so little time spent together on Vi's turf seeing Cait interact with the Zaun community, Vi doesn't learn to trust Cait to the extent of the 2A situation.
I could see a CaitVi yearning scene play out where Vi is leaving Cait's room to head back to Zaun and just before she's out and Vi's back is to Cait, Cait says "Vi... I miss you". The camera angle shifts to show a look in Vi's eyes that she feels similarly. But Vi collects herself before turning her head back to say "Don't let Ambessa see that" with a kind of bittersweet smile and leaving. I envision her expression to be similar to the "don't sugarcoat it cupcake" scene.
In a similar situation to 2A, I see Jinx in 2B as trying to navigate her mental illness and PTSD, rocky relationship with Vi, how she exists in the world, and her trinkets. In 2B she would would get very few scenes interacting with Cait. She'd probably mostly hear about her through Vi and the whole time still hate and distrust Cait and dislike that Vi is talking with her. I truly do not envision Jinx ever "blessing" CaitVi like she did in season 2 yeesh...
In 2B, CaitVi have lingering glances or touches, but the most they'd do in this scenario is kiss before breaking away to focus on reality again. In this scenario CaitVi would mutually understand that they used to have a longing and a spark between them. The spark might still be there, but there's too much distance between them to fully explore it.
Final Battle
1A:
The final battle leads to a very tragic ending.
Ambessa is leading the army with tech, machinery, and other Piltover resources. Zaun previously attacked with guerilla tactics and some of that transferred to this final battle. But they have most of Zaun on their side as well as Jinx with her tech, Ekko and hopefully his rewind ability, sharpshooter Cait, Sevika with her arm, and fighter Vi. (I haven't thought about how Jayce/ Viktor fit into this).
Cait and Vi are on opposite sides of the battle. After all the war crimes Cait committed, she's going to war ultimately fighting for Piltover, but she's grown tired being so rageful all the time. She steps onto the battlefield in a sniper line alongside other shooters. As she watches the brutal casualties unfold in the field, Cait has a few devastated or even guilty looks as she watches Zaunites die at Piltover's hands. She's not reacting to this situation how she expected, but this is the side she chose. At Ambessa's command she hesitantly moves into the battlefield to use the close combat fighting skills Ambessa taught her.
At one point, Cait comes face to face with Vi, Ambessa encouraging her to end the fight for good. As the fight continues, it's clear that both Vi and Cait don't want to be fighting each other, at least not like this. Maybe Cait has flashes of guilt for the crimes she committed and how she treated Vi. After some shared glances or maybe whispers, the two of them pretend to keep fighting because Cait obviously has a plan. Cait then whips around and lands a shot or sneak attack to make Ambessa fold to the ground. I have mixed feelings about how rushed Black Rose felt, but Mel could somehow be the final blow for Ambessa dying or maybe it could be Cait. Regardless, Cait incapacitates Ambessa in some way.
In my opinion, if full Macbeth tragedy is the direction Cait goes, I would want her to tragically be shot just as she hit Ambessa. Her last redeeming move as a full blown fascist dictator puppet was to take out the mastermind before she dies on the battlefield. In this tragic arc, I see inspirations of Ambessa as Macbeth and Cait as Lady Macbeth, both dying in the end. But Ambessa's death is due to a combination of ego and ambition and Cait's is in a final guilt ridden self sacrificing redeeming act.
Vi is devastated as she can only watch Cait, the first woman who cared for her but the most recent person to abandon her, die. She has to be torn away from Cait in the battlefield's danger. Maybe Jinx is the one to tear her away.
2A and B battle
Similar thing as 1A, Ambessa is leading the army with tech, machinery, and other Piltover resources.
For 2A, Cait and Vi are fighting for Zaun together in a style that compliment each other. Vi gets up close while Cait attacks from a distance, likely in disguise and hidden so Ambessa doesn't realize immediately that it's her.
For 2B, Cait is fighting "with" Piltover, but intentionally landing non-fatal minimal damage shots to Zaunites or "missing" and hitting Piltover soldiers, ensuring that Ambessa doesn't notice. She's waiting for the right moment to execute the Ambessa attack plan.
The battle ultimately suffers many losses. I'd love it to be a war where it's clear that neither side necessarily "won" but Zaun still gets some demands met OR Zaun wins just barely with a Piltover agreement for some level of freedom they haven't had in years. I'm not talking that "Sevika is on the council, it's hopeful that they have a voice now" type of ending. I mean Piltover agrees to at least most conditions for Zaun's quality of life and freedom to exist undisturbed.
For both the Zaun pawn (2A) and Zaun spy (2B) arcs, Cait could deal an unexpected near fatal or fatal blown to Ambessa. For the spy scenario, it could be a little more convoluted or more of a backstabbing/ twist feeling for Ambessa.
I know the writers said that they knew Vi and Jinx's final scene since the beginning. I personally believe they neglected Jinx's mental struggles and characteristics from season 1 in season 2. I don't see Vi and Jinx reuniting over the power of sisterhood to fight in the end like they did in act 3 finale. To me, their arc would still be a strained sisterly relationship, but one that by the end they have a clearer understanding of how they need to coexist. In my mind, Vi realizes Jinx doesn't need protecting or saving. She's a completely different person now, but she's still her sister. And Jinx recognizes that her sister is loyal to a fault and self punishes. She realizes sometimes Vi needs to be encouraged or forced to explore the world as her own person. In my eyes, if they're both alive after the battle, then they don't decide to continue down a shared path, but respect going separate-ish ways.
If the battle ends with Jinx "dying" somehow, I would want Cait to immediately be there to support Vi. Vi is always there to support the people around her, especially with Cait when she needed it or Jinx when she didn't want it, sometimes at Vi's own detriment. Cait needs to finally show up for her in a time of need.
Scenario 1A Ending
Zaun just barely makes it out as a victor in this revolutionary battle. With Ambessa defeated, Mel alive, Cait gone, and many Piltover soldiers dead, Piltover submits to Zaun's demands.
Zaun returns to their community hopeful but in despair at the massive losses of their people and the trauma they endured. People come together to help each other post-battle. It's a bloody but bittersweet scene.
While Jinx survived, she recognizes she needs to go elsewhere soon after Zaun has recovered from the battle. Vi and Jinx have a conversation about Jinx leaving and Vi doesn't want to let her go. Their final line is that "I'm always with you even when we're worlds apart" line. Jinx says it's ok because she knows they'll see each other again someday. While it's sad to see them go their separate ways, they're both still alive and still love each other, just from a necessary distance.
Vi is devastated at the loss of Cait, the first woman to care for her but the most recent person to abandon her (in the sewer & her Macbeth-like arc). She wonders what could have been if she survived. But ultimately, even with Jinx leaving soon she isn't alone anymore. 8 years after being thrown in prison, she now has a community of people that know and care for her. She understands who she is and who she needs to be for her community: a protector.
Scenario 2 Happy Endings
2A
After many casualties and after the trauma of the battle, Cait and Vi return to Zaun to start the process of rebuilding. Zaun's community lost a lot of people and ultimately, Piltover begrudgingly allowed Zaun at least most of their demands. Zaun's on their own for the rebuilding process. We end on a bittersweet note seeing Zaunites care for one another as they recover from a long battle.
Both Cait and Vi have taken up a role together for Zaun. They're not enforcers, but following the inevitable strong feelings after a won revolution, Zaun needs a new protective force to ensure Zaunites are safe from any potential rogue/ surprise Piltover attacks. I didn't dive into other characters' arcs, but I could see Sevika being in charge of this force. From Silco's servant to a guardian for the people. As someone incarcerated for the formative years of her life, Vi's main life skill is she knows how to fight. She mostly went without a certain cause but this ending would allow her to fight for a cause; her people.
Vi knows how she exists in her community now and they embrace her. Cait has abandoned her Piltover upbringing to make amends for her harmful past, working with Vi to protect the peace of Zaun and giving a life with Vi a chance.
Cait and Vi share a tender moment (embrace, hand hold, cheek caress, etc) as they look over the scene of Zaunites taking care of one another and reuniting with families. The last line between them involves their pet names for each other "cupcake" and "violet".
2B
Zaun lost a lot of people and ultimately, Piltover begrudgingly allowed Zaun at least a portion of their demands. Zaun's on their own for the rebuilding process.
After many casualties and after the trauma of the battle, Vi invites Cait to return to Zaun for a chance at living with Zaun. Cait is hesitant to accept, knowing that the Zaunites might not welcome her and doubting she deserves the courtesy. But she certainly wouldn't be welcome back in Piltover.
Vi suggests Cait let (either the people or imo a Zaun leader figure) decide. Cait follows Vi back to Zaun and the Zaunites, seeing Cait's Piltover outfit, cast dirty looks, whisper as she passes, ignore her presence, or spit at her. Most would know her from gassing Zaun.
Vi advocates on Cait's behalf, explaining that she helped the revolution in huge ways as a spy and now has nowhere else to turn. Cait then speaks briefly and states she understands if they don't accept her in, but that she will accept any conditions. The people/ Zaun leader figure very hesitantly allow her into the community with conditions.
Cait and Vi's final scene together is Vi helping Cait settle in somewhere. It's clear that things are still not fixed between them. Cait has a little more work to do to earn people's trust and to earn VI's trust. But the final exchange before Vi leaves involves a loving look, lingering touch, or maybe Vi kissing Cait's hand and Vi using the nickname "cupcake" for the first time in a while- implying that things are looking up for them.
We end on a bittersweet note seeing Zaunites, including Vi, care for one another as they recover from a long battle. Maybe Cait watches them with an intrigued look at her new community. Maybe she makes her way over to help with first aid.
The End
Probably still isn't perfect but it's likely an improvement for CaitVi arcs. It was a fun writing exercise, thanks to anyone who read my creative exploration lol.
This process really illuminated how much the writers backed themselves into a corner with CaitVi and how much they fell short with political commentary/ Zaun's oppression by crappily trying to "both sides" Zaun v Piltover. The way they set CaitVi up, if they wanted them to have an arc that at least made sense AND that people like me rooted for, they ultimately needed time that season two 1. Didn't have and 2. They made even smaller due to darting focuses on new plotlines, other characters, and the Vi main to side character downgrade.
To any fellow arcane critical members, what ending would you have liked (for plot or a specific character/ dynamic?)
