Helpless

I just posted after a while, because something happened the other night. At 1am my daughter woke me up because she heard one of our neighbors screaming “please stop”, and she said the girl sounded very scared. Then the sound got muffled and someone turned on a vacuum. My daughter asked me if she should call the police, and I said yes. She mentioned that someone should have called the police so many times on her dad. This breaks my heart. Anyway, she called the police and they made her feel dumb. They did send out officers though. We live in an apartment complex and she was not sure where the yelling was coming from, but the police decided to knock on a door. I am not sure why they chose that particular apartment. I could hear them and the girl in the apartment of the door they knocked on did not want to open the door. Eventually she did and she must have said she was fine, because I heard the police officer say “we’re outta here.” 

As a victim of domestic violence I find it so frustrating that people do not take it seriously. This is the exact reason I started this blog; I hope my story will help someone.
