I feel like we barely know anything about Kyle’s personality, but I have this really specific idea of him having elder sisters. And like, a FUCKLOAD of em too. I’m talking four at the minimum.

He’s grown up with women all his life, so at this point understanding them is just second nature

If you ever vent to him about anything, he’ll always gauge the tone of your complaining first. If you need help, he’s sitting down with a piece of paper and a pen and figuring out your shit with you. If you’re too tired after date night, he’ll carefully take all your makeup off by himself, leaving you to wake up feeling nice and moisturised.

If you come home, jaw clenched and brows furrowed — he’s gonna know you’ve had a bad day at work. You don’t even have to say anything: he’s ready with the scented lemongrass oil and the lavender aromatherapy diffuser. Hands expertly massaging your feet and shoulders. He’ll draw you a nice bath, cook you some heart shaped pasta (no doubt wearing an apron that says ‘kiss the chef’ but that’s irrelevant). Just lay back and relax, love

He’s definitely the kind of guy to keep menstrual products, fruity shampoo/conditioners and skin care products at his place even if he’s single. Like, mans just wants to take care of his girl(s).

He has a skin care and hair care routine. I know canonically that he has something similar to a buzz, but I like to think he would have braids. (Please let’s forget about how difficult it is to maintain protective hairstyles in military conditions for a minute and let this man feel bonita!) He lets you put little beads in his braids too.

For that perfect, glassy skin he has — he deifnitely has like a 10 step routine. All full of indubitably unnecessary and expensive products, but at least you don’t have to remind him to apply sunscreen at the beach.

A typical Sunday evening for the two of you looks like Love Island morning: sipping smoothies/lemonades, face masks on, cats purring on laps. Also IDC he will happily watch love island with me. Gets super invested in it, too. Treats recouplings like it’s fantasy football.

He definitely knows all the unspoken rules. First date always in a public place, no secondary locations. Hand caresses the small of her back. Sidewalk rule. Knows not to approach a girl that’s alone at night even if he has the purest of intentions. And if he’s walking behind one, he’s immediately crossing the road. He just tries to be the man he wholeheartedly believes women like his sisters deserve.

He’s a MAN man. Like, he has an opinion on everything. He’s the best guy to go shopping with because he’s gonna tell you exactly what you need to hear. And he’ll be actually helpful, not just drooling over the sight of you in every outfit — never mind how much he wants to. He has a good eye for these sort of things. ‘That color brings out your eyes’; ‘the color make you glow’; ‘the neckline isn’t the best fit’; ‘it’s a bit gauche’. Planning a wedding with him? Best believe he’s gonna be hands ON. Flowers were his choice, invitations were his choice. Also I think he would want to wear a fancy tux. Like, maybe there’s colourful embroidery on the coat, and the ends of it are long and cut pretty.

Everyone headcanons him as this super responsible man, and to some extent I do think that’s accurate. Like he feels he needs to ‘give back to women’ somehow for all his sisters did for him.

But on the other hand, I think that if his girl babied him, he is NOT immune. Makes him feel all safe and gooey inside. Just small things, really. Buying him flowers for no special reason other than ‘I was walking past the florist and I saw these and they reminded me of you :)’. If you spot a hole in one of his sweatpants and the next day he finds you stitching it fixed. Maybe you learn how to style braids for him from one of his sisters. Massage his sore scalp gently while you’re at it. He’s gonna wife you up in an instant

I'm not completely opposed to making Pharma a weird guy in general pre-Messatine, the main issue I have with it is that a lot of that type of fandom is less "what if he was just a weird little guy" and more seems to be written with the implication that Pharma went crazy because he was just always a little crazy (or a little evil, or a little heartless, etc). Basically, to me it downplays the fact that Pharma underwent massive trauma for two years straight that other characters barely survived for a few hours/days and instead frames Pharma snapping as some sort of... I don't know, genetic/fated downfall because he was just weird, he was always off, is it really any wonder Pharma ended up Like That because I mean there was always something a little weird about him.

It just seems to accidentally imply that Pharma snapping under the pressure of years of torture was some sort of moral failing or sign of him being weak/immoral. You know, Pharma was always kind of a little creepy/insane/evil deep down which is obviously why he killed people. If he were just a normal, not-weird, good person then he would've been mentally strong enough to Not Go Insane. Like uhhhh it just seems kind of fucked up to imply that the reason some people are unable to cope with long-term trauma and have violent/unhealthy coping behaviors is because there's just something innately wrong with them, and then try and look back on their whole life trying to contextualize how they were actually unstable and evil all along instead of just accepting that like. Normal people (tm), yes normal and good people, can be put in situations where they're slowly turned into broken monsters because they had no escape and no good choices.

And also it's equally fucked up to imply that like. Whether or not you can deal with psychological torture without snapping is some sort of function of how innately moral or mentally strong you are. Incredibly victim-blamey to basically go "well the reason Pharma went insane is because he was just always cracked in the head, unlike our good buddy-pal-friend-hero Ratchet who's the perfect doctor and a good Autobot who's never done anything wrong which is why when he's an asshole/hurts people he's not nearly as destructive or Weird About It."

It's not that "Pharma was always kind of crazy" can't be done, because anything can be written well with enough thought. But I think in terms of writing, it's a very difficult and nuanced line to balance and most people literally just can't do it without implying that trauma victims/mentally ill people are evil or something. And Pharma is already unfairly villainized enough as-is, and in canon his trauma was already downplayed in favor of "haha crazy doctor chainsaw go brrr look how weird and quirky and craaaazyyy he is." So it's one of those things where 1. Most people just aren't good enough to write it and 2. "Always a little crazy" Pharma is already oversaturated enough in the fandom anyways and it's enough of a battle to get people to recognize that he's a tragic character and not just an evil asshole.

DATV Spoilers Just in Case!) I’ve seen a head canon floating around that when solas puts a mage!Rook in the regret prison, it tranquilizes them. What do you think Viago’s reaction to this happening to a Crow!Rook would be?

i think there's a small terrible part of viago that instinctively thinks it was a bad investment/solution to send rook off with varric, since he's lost one of his best assassins. and then of course he hates that this is his first reaction because rook is more than that to him, but he's been conditioned by their lives to worry about his power and the mission first. and then i think he throws himself into trying to prove that he is a better man than that by finding a cure, without being obvious about it, even if his worry actually makes him messier and obvious. a similar outward reaction to what i've seen people headcanon about how he feels when he gets the news that rook is stuck in the fade trap in general (anger, determination, frustration, etc)

the idea of viago as a man who clings to "i rose to this rank for a reason, above the other crows. i'm a killer but with my poisons, i'm cleaner. i'm royalty. i'm better." is so beautiful to me. who he wants by his side/publically allies with is made more interesting to me for that reason. rook and teia make a very short list, so for him to lose either of them (especially to a fate worse than death. like i know there's a cure but i'm not sure if that's common knowledge and it has rammys bro) will inevitably cause a crash out the likes of which thedas may have never seen before <3
