i think it would benefit fandom culture in general to learn how to think and say:
"this story didn't go the direction i hoped for or cater to my personal tastes/tolerances regarding certain subject matter, character arcs, and plot delivery methods. oh well! at least others seem to understand and enjoy it."
... rather than:
"GGGGRHGHGFJHH the writers are BAD, the representation is BAD, they don't know their own characters as well as I DO. i can NEVER overlook these characters' flaws and negative actions NO MATTER what led to it, how conflicted they are about it, or how they show desire to change. and if the writers don't EXPLICITLY make these characters apologize for and condemn every awful and questionable action via extensive and literal dialogue AND solve every outstanding conflict by the end of the story, that means they're CONDONING these horrible things in real life and we shouldn't care!"

hey. hey.
wanting attention is not a bad thing. wanting people to care about you is not selfish. it’s okay to want people to listen to you. you don’t need to do anything to deserve love. love is not a finite resource; we hold enough of it in our hearts to love each other every single day of the year. you deserve to be loved every single day of the year. don’t forget that.

If you want to appeal to more people and sell more art, you kind of have to be apolitical but not so apolitical that your work ends up saying nothing. Buyers like images and objects that make them feel good, that seem to reflect their beliefs in some way. But if you take a clear stance, you risk alienating other groups. So your art ends up meaning almost nothing, but it sells really well because it has broad appeal. This is what it means to be an artist who sells.
Do you really want to be an artist, or do you just want to be adored?

It shocks me how many people don’t realise that the autism spectrum isn’t this:

That is in fact a very outdated and in many ways insulting…
THIS IS WHAT THE SPECTRUM IS:
And it is actually incorrect to say “well everyone is somewhere on the spectrum”
Someone may show traits that are associated with autism but that doesn’t mean they are on the spectrum but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are autistic,
Just like someone who is autistic may show traits of people who are neurotypical.
When I am speaking to friends who may use incorrect language or may have outdated information of what the spectrum is, I explain to them why it is important to change how we view and talk about being neurotypical. None of them are intentionally being offensive and are often happy to get a better understanding. It’s always important to be open to changing how we view something so that everyone is able to feel accepted and understood; therefore if there is any information or something I’ve said that is offensive, incorrect or even if you have a different perspective than me, please let me know as I only want to be respectful of others and am always willing to see other people reasons for their views.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Apparently the silksong subreddit has started doing human "sacrifices", where they ritually elect someone to be banned, in order to guarantee the timely release of the game. somehow this isn't even surprising

It was cocky and overconfident to call the Titanic "unsinkable" but one thing that's overlooked is that she was genuinely really, unusually solid. She could float even with 4 compartments fully flooded, which even a lot of modern day ships can't do.
And it's not like they were wrong about her being solid! Olympic, her identical sister ship, survived being torpedoed and then running over the U-Boat that fired that torpedo. Those ships were solid.
It's very clear that absolutely no other ship in 1912 would have been able to survive that collision, and it's a testament to the quality of the ship that she didn't sink in a few minutes Empress of Ireland style. Part of what makes the Titanic such a tragic story is that it isn't a group of rich idiots locking themselves in a shoddy iron barrel to go 4km underwater. It was 2200 people, most of whom were poor immigrants, on a reliable ship on a commonly-made journey, and then something went horribly, unpredictably wrong.
