I've seen some people compare the new superman show characterization to Spider-man and they're actually impressively similar characters in terms of message! in a funny way superman is often more goofy than spiderman since the more tragic parts of his background are less of a focus for his character. Uncle ben's death is so integral to spider-man's actions that it adds a more complex outlook to his character, but most of the time superman is just a good farm boy from kansas with both parents alive and well. Superman is a simple man who wants to do good and his kind heart is all he needs to pursue that, he is a good foil to other more complex heros and that core is also what makes his battles with lex work. lex sees everything that superman is and sees no way it's as simple as he just "does good", superman can't be bought and lex can't picture a person who wouldn't use those powers for "evil" because that's what HE would do with them.

I love the return of the big blue boy scout, just as earnest and sweet as he should be!

It's still stunning how overpowered superman was in the 60s. I don't mind, because I actually kind of like the powers. It's more interesting to have cool power fantasy escapism, rather than boring edgy stories of noir darkness (superman will always be cooler than batman in this regard). But yeah. Superman only had two big weaknesses: Kryptonite and Magic. And he could do so much stuff. He could time travel by spinning around the globe. He has a photographic memory. He has heat vision, x-ray vision and he's completely bulletproof. And this is just stuff i've seen in the first 10 JLA comics. I like his large powerset, honestly.

10/10 show, very excited for the next episode. Clark is so silly, the lovable goofball energy he has is so true to his character. And Lois?!?!? she’s so great this is a wonderful way to portray her, her character design is peak. 2 episodes in and the plot is already so rich but not overwhelming.

i am unironically obsessed with adam west batman not only trying to be a good dad to robin, but actually succeeding. also love robin's insane energy levels and his ability to go from seething bloodlust to manic glee in record time. i think any superman worth his S would fit right into the family ^_^
