I know it is trying to be emotionally resonate and the flute is pretty but...#It really does have the energy of “Okay thanks for listening to my tragedies and traumas. I don't know how to segue out of this.”#This madam lan design is inspired by Qourmet's design! Really good stuff that I was not able to do more with in this one panel.#Speaking of...I know it is ambiguous on purpose and we are only told what happened through LXC's POV but...#I always interpreted madam lan's passing as a suicide. I think LXC was told it was illness to soften the blow.#She was stuck in a house with maybe a servant coming by to give her food. One day a month she saw her children.#Of course she was warm and loving in their memories-#She was trying to give them a version of her that would be remembered as such. She wanted to protect them from the truth.#She did her best but she was already dead a long time ago. She must have felt like a ghost haunting a house.#Love to her was waiting. And both her boys inherited that view of love.

I was going to say we need to be weirder about Maglor but then I remembered crablor. That’s on me. We need to also be DIFFERENT weird about Maglor.

Maglor who walks along the coast for thousands of years and does not stop singing. Maglor who after ages of the world have passed, has a voice that is made only for music. When he speaks, there is something too lyrical to the tone. He sighs and the world accompanies him. His raised voice sets the ground shaking, his laments call water like tears from the sky. He has to be careful when he speaks to people, however rare that is, because of it. He weeps and those who can hear him cannot help but weep as well. Maglor with a voice so powerful that he can no longer use it the way he could when the world was young. One more thing lost to the Oath.

Sayaka is just. She hurts me.

Like, you know when you do something that might be difficult for you, like cleaning your room or getting a good grade, and your parents ruin it for you by going on and on about how is the bare minimum and nothing to be proud of? That's basically what Sayaka does to herself. She tells herself she doesn't need Kyosuke's gratitude or a romantic relationship with him, because healing him is just being a good friend and person. She tells herself she doesn't need any kind of reward for putting herself at risk snd fighting witches, because saving people and getting the opportunity of being as amazing as Mami should be enough.

The problem is, thinking you don't need or deserve something doesn't make you want it any less. She did want a typical fairytale with Kyosuke, she did want being a magical girl to be cool and fun and to have her efforts rewarded (and how could she not? We're talking about a teenager). And the frustration of things not going her way mixed with the guilt of daring to be dissapointed or regret her decision in the first place crushes her. The realization that deep inside she's not doing this for heroic, selfless reasons. The realization that she'll never be the version of herself that she imagines in her head, the knight in shining armor that faithfully protects the people regardless of the burden.

#i think this is why it frustrates me when her tragedy is reduced just to the unrequited love part of it #i firmly believe she would have spiraled even if everything went perfectly between her and kyosuke #the dissapointment in herself once she realized her wish was at least a little selfish deep inside would be enough #that or #failing to be as good as mami #puella magi madoka magica #madoka magica #pmmm #sayaka miki #“blow my brains out” by tikkle me started playing as i was writing this #pretty fitting

Guardian of the Wild Places

WARNING: Unicorns are wild animals, and can be very dangerous. If you happen to be (un)lucky enough to encounter one, do not approach if you value your life. They are extremely territorial and protective of their home ranges, and have been known to kill seemingly without provocation those who they perceive as a threat to their charges.

This was the result of my thoughts about this post, and fucking around with @morningstarequestrian's new Wild Horse Set (part 2). Thank you SO much for feeding my fantasy horse dreams.

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #wen qing #wen ning #WWX's main weapon as the Yiling patriarch is considered to be 'Wen Ning' - which makes sense as far as the whole necromancer thing goes.#However...That *is* Wen Qing's beloved baby brother!#In her perspective WWX skipped town for a few days (or so) and took WN with him #only for them both to show up bloodied and in a state of disarray.#There's no way he told her he was going out to duel Jiang Cheng. For several reasons.#He doesn't want to involve her in his messes anymore than he already has.#It's less that she would try and stop him and more so that he honestly wouldn't even think to say something about it to her.#WQ and him aren't partners in this situation. He actually openly disregards her opinions several times.#Wei Wuxian's emotional distance from everyone around him is a big part of this arc.#Like all good tragedies...his biggest flaw is his hubris. He doesn't *need* anyone when he's so capable on his own.#He doesn't need to ask permission when obviously this is the only way forwards.#He has to do it all on his own! No one else needs to be involved!#And if you've been in the position of realizing you have a problem of toxic self-reliance - you know how harmful this mindset is.#It's why it's so satisfying to see WWX in his 'new' life start to let other's share his burdens.#I will die on the hill of 'love means carrying each other's weight. All a burden means is that I can give you support and you support me.'#YLLZ is less 'competent and sexy' and more 'depressed and can't see it'.#Another lovely nod to the main theme here is how he starts leaning more and more into the rumours about him.#Though we are also still confronted with how these rumours fail to actually live up to reality.#Rumour has it the Yiling Patriarch is undefeatable. What a shame if that rumour turned out to be untrue!

#the spirit of su minshan possessed me for a minute there but like. i'm fine with it #jin guangyao #he did crimes??? good for him 😌#editing this post to add that while the tone here is clearly joking #i really am fundamentally still engaged with this fandom #and with this book #almost exlcusively because of my enjoyment of jgy #even xiyao is secondary for me like i love it and i'm ride or die for it obvs #but jgy as a character is the main draw for me. and he would have me by the throat even if there was no zewu-jun #(tho i think jgy's life would be more depressing for his absence obviously)#but he is just. /clenches my fists!!!#THE most compelling character in the story and i cannot stop thinking about him!! cannot will not!!#who else in this book has his range? who else can be the doe-eyed idealist AND the spy with blood on his hands who ends a war?#who else is two different greek tragedies and at least two separate shakespearean tragedies rolled into one antagonist #an antagonist who but for the POV of the novel could very easily have been the protagonist #whose moral event horizon is so deeply entwined with his own trauma and abuse that there is no way to meaningfully separate #the violence he does to others from the systemic violence that was done to him for his whole life?#who else in this book manages to get five separate sect leaders utterly obsessed with him no matter how you choose #to interpret that obsession?#no one!!! that's who!!#ain't no one else in the jianghu doing it like lianfang-zun and that's just a goddamn fact
