Aaron was rendered speechless. You were right, when he had seen your long list of accomplishments, he was picturing someone a little more like Reid. Not a bombshell in a light pink blouse, tight skirt, heels and long pink fingernails.

And thus began Aaron babying you. He did everything in his power to keep you safe…which was becoming increasingly difficult as you continued to prove how qualified you were for this team.

Aaron walked over to ensure the bullpen was clear. He then locked his office door and pulled the blinds closed. He returned to his seat behind his desk, sitting and then wiggling his finger at you, signaling for you to come to him.

You stood and tentatively made your way around his desk, stopping just short of being in front of him. He took your hand and gently pulled you to stand between his legs. His hands slid down your sides, stopping at the outer part of your knees, tapping softly.

You looked at him with confusion…unsure of what it was he was asking you. Your confusion was answered when you saw the look in his eyes. You slowly dropped to your knees, your palms resting on his thighs.

“God, you’re like a vision. So sweet, on your knees for me.” Aaron caressed your cheek.

You reached for his belt, pulling it open, while he let his hand tilt your chin up to meet his gaze. Your mouth fell open in a gasp, his pupils were blown, full of lust. He let his thumb slip into your mouth, groaning at the sight of you.

Monkey see, Monkey do - imitation (for a good reason, for a stupid reason, just by instinct...). It is assumed to be an old saying.

Siblings seem to demonstrate an understanding of others’ minds and emotions during real-life interactions long before they show this understanding on more formal assessments.

In particular, this understanding is revealed during episodes of imitation, teasing, shared humour, pretend play, conflict resolution, teaching, prosocial behaviour, and through their use of connected communications and emotional and mental language during conversations.

First-born siblings engage in leadership, teaching, caregiving, and helping roles, whereas second-born siblings are more likely to imitate, follow, take on the role of learner, and elicit care and help.

Younger siblings often imitate the older child’s language and actions during play, which is one way to establish shared meanings.

Siblings demonstrate the ability to teach one another during semi-structured tasks and also during ongoing interactions while playing together at home, while taking into account their sibling’s knowledge and understanding.

Because infants show the ability to imitate at as early as 6 months of age (Collie & Hayne, 2003), older siblings are some of the first teachers in infants’ lives.

The infants aren’t just learning unrelated skills via mimicry, though; they’re also perfecting the art of imitation itself.

One study showed that children with brothers and sisters are better at imitating than those without.

"Baby See, Baby Do" Trope

Babies like to copy. It's how a lot of them learn. Sometimes, it even leads to them saying their first word.

If a baby copies another person, it usually means (or is taken to mean) that they like that person, so the other characters will find it adorable, even if the one being copied doesn't like it.

Sometimes, a character will make a remark about how the baby will grow up to be like the one being copied.

At times, it can overlap with Licked by the Dog trope if the person being copied is or has a reputation for being tough or evil and the surrounding characters believe that babies copying someone means they like them.

If the baby copies an undesirable behavior (swearing is a common one and it might lead to Little Brother Is Watching trope if the baby copies an undesirable behavior from their older sibling), quite often, the older people will try to get them to copy a better behavior, and some adults might try to get their babies to copy them if they want to make them talk.

Incredibles 2: When Dash says that he wants to fight bad guys and mimes fighting, Jack-Jack also mimes fighting and shouts out some gibberish that ends in "bad guy".

Monsters, Inc.: When Mike says a line of dialogue that includes his first and last names (Mike Wazowski), Boo repeats it. She keeps repeating it until it becomes sort of her catchphrase (along with "Boo!" (how she got her nickname) and "Kitty" (what she calls Sully). She also copies Sully's "Shh" when he tells her to stop laughing.

In The Adventures of Pinocchio (1996), earlier Pinocchio displays this kind of behavior, imitating words and actions of those around him. He's technically "newborn" and is experiencing the world for the first time.

Palmola's relationship with princess!reader is very toxic and strict. When she found out that she had no talent, no magic, and really struggled with etiquette as well at the beginning, she can't help but hate her on a whole different level

As a young girl, Pamola has been trained in talent, magic, all this stuff just to get engaged to Bruce, and that has been her greatest achievement out of everything she did her whole life, not her talent, not her magic so she wanted a child that she could be proud of because every other kid had a closer connection to Bruce so when her [name] always approached her instead of Bruce, she was mad that the kid that she was stuck with admire her was the most "useless" out of all of them.

Of course, she’s had her moments that she does dote on [name] which is why the relationship is so toxic because [name] can’t help but always come back to her as she is her mom, and even when she abuses her with verbally, she just thinks about the moment whenever they did have a bonding moment and thinks to herself "that’s my mother and I love her and she is everything I wanna be in so much more."

She likes Serena because even if she doesn't have etiquette they can talk about similar things they enjoy and she has talent and light magic which are spoilers.

Despite what I wrote [name] is not the oldest princess she’s the youngest princess and it just fits more into Connor and Serena‘s age range (kind of) she doesn’t have to be married for an alliance, but she fell in love with Connor and everybody in the family knew that with how much she showed it and couldn’t hide it.

"I already have these two fully worked out, so there's not much fun in it for me. And I see a fun opportunity in front of me, so I'd be a fool to pass on it." The RK900 kept his expression neutral, another thing he found to greatly annoy those around him. He found it funny how something as simple as refusing to show emotions, whether it was by changing his facial expression or letting his LED shift colors, could cause so many to yell at him for it.

The other two androids just looked at Nines, seemingly annoyed by the android's blunt way for saying things, but they didn't comment on it as they knew it wouldn't do anything.

Strasky glanced at the RK800 as he went back to his previous task of picking out toys that fit what Willow had said, he had to agree that it was very clear that Vincent was trying to better himself. Even if the AP700 clearly didn't want to, he had people who encouraged him and didn't find his behavior annoying.

"Maybe one day, I just can't say when..." It wasn't a topic he could see himself approaching in the near future, at least not until he could think about it without feeling every muscle in his body tense, and the sensation of his heart sinking.

The physical reaction and the instant mental turmoil that followed was enough for him, enough to know that he couldn't be able to talk about it without something bad happening. "And I don't want to promise anything as I might disappoint a lot of people if I do..."

Peter said that once, and I feel it applies to this situation." The PL600 said with a slight nod as he thought of how to further explain his point.

"He just has to realize that he won't get anywhere, that nothing will get better, until he faces down the thing that hurts the most, and finally talks about. Maybe then that voice in his head, the one he allows to degrade him, will no longer have any power as he realizes the things it tells him are lies. That he doesn't have anything to fear, he doesn't have to be perfect to make others like him, he only needs to be himself and people who like that will find him, he doesn't have to search for them." Dan explained as he gently pet the creature resting on his shoulders, it was clearly very interested in what they were talking about even if it didn't fully comprehend it.

"Simply put, he has to stop feeding the monster looming over him, allowing it to have power over him, and go against what it says."

It wasn't a long wait before Vincent reactivated. The android only briefly shifted his gaze away from his work to look at the other, knowing by now that the pain around the LED was temporary. This was all pretty standard, there was no need to get worked up about it.

He kept at it once Vincent while settled down more comfortably, then showed the result of his efforts so far. He seemed to be making a chicken.

Bishop's expression didn't shift during the exchange, nor at Nines' offer.

"Aren't you by any chance offering to switch seats because you are the one in need of a challenge?" he replied with a smirk.

It'd definitely be more difficult to get away with lies, but he had accepted to play to see how good Nines was and the only way to do that was to challenge him directly.

Willow motioned with her hand at Sixty's answer, pointing out she was right about Vincent's chances of improving. It was perhaps the only positive part, as having no record of androids who deviated because of positive influences wasn't exactly encouraging.

She could, however, encourage Strasky. "Please, do try once you feel ready. There are many new people waiting to welcome you for who you are. You simply have to let them in and perhaps consider seeing a therapist."

"Wow." Rook ran a hand through her hair, "That’s a lot of stuff to drop on somebody who resents herself every other day. I got him out of hell and told him to stay clear of Bishop. I'm only good at fighting things, I'm going to mess that up."

Hajun's/Joker's analysis

(This is more like a rant tbh)

I don't see lot of people talking about Hajun, whereas I think he's fascinating character and even though there's a lot we don't know about him, he's written enough for me to rant and analyse about.

Hajun, a.k.a Joker, is a character in Windbreaker webtoon written by Yongseok Jo. He's part of Sabbath crew, which plays antagonistic role in the story. Joker's moral compass can be confusing at first because he's illegally making money, but he's also well-intented person. He has taken the role of caregiver and provider for his brothers and he seems to give everything he has to live up to that role. However, the money he's making is from underground and illegal boxing, where people bet money who's gonna win and who's gonna lose. I believe fight clubs are popular outside of this manhwa so, I'm sure you all understand what I mean. It's been shown that Hajun enjoys fights and he's fascinated by mma & martial arts, but boxing is what he has taken biggest interest in. He tends to get excited whenever he meets strong opponent (like how he immediately started a fight with Owen, who's supposedly cyclist genius) and immediately asks for a fight, whether politely or not. He never misses a chance to get into fight, not for money but because he genuinely likes fighting strong opponents. He has quick reflexes and can easily block random and sudden attacks, he's also a guy who starts throwing punches before others can even blink. Can he act impulsive? Yes. Is he a bad person? No. And I'm going to explain why.

Firstly, his little brother HATES that Hajun is making money by beating people up, hence he, himself, starts working and denies his education. Hajun, as a big brother, of course can't turn blind eye to it and hence approaches his brother about it more than once. Upon hearing what his little brother said in part 3 of Windbreaker, Joker decided to change his ways of making money so his little brother wouldn't have to work so hard especially at construction site, which is very dangerous for a kid.

Mind you, it's not easy for Hajun either because as I said, he truly enjoys fighting and he needs to make money as soon as he can but there's very little he can do without professional career or guardian. It's not only money as well, he's cooking for them, handling their healthcare and etc. He's trying his best to be emotionally available for them as well and makes sure to hear them out and be understanding in his own ways.

Aside from being caregiver to his brothers, he's a person who values fairness. He refused to against Dom Kang when it was two on one because he considered it to be unfair, he doesn't pick on weaker opponents because he knows it'd be unfair - like how he refused to block Shelly because she wasn't good at physical fights and he didn't want to injure her. But he went against his own morals few times in order to gain money, like helping Wooin with drug dealing just because Sangho gave them money.(Or maybe he thinks it's alright as long as he gets money out of it) However, Joker himself never doped and achieved everything by his own strength and skills.

His morals might be little questionable at some point but he's truly well-intented man. He even stopped cycling in the middle of race, despite being close to finish line, to save the injured puppy and go to the vet afterwards. He seems to be very responsible person as well, as he took the puppy under his care, provided for it and always made sure puppy was with him and safe. Once, he also stopped at the red light during the cycling race when he didn't have to.

He's quite hardworker as well, acknowledges his weakness and trains to improve himself. He's quite motivated character and has sportsmanship whatsoever. Author is portraying him as tough on outside, soft on the inside type of guy in the series. But again, there's more to his character that has to be explored but we're lacking information, unfortunately. A really good trait of his is that he's not changing his values and morals for someone, no matter what kind of situation he really is in. He has his priorities set straight and follows it with undying loyalty.

Some people aggressively tried to convince me that it's 100% canon that the Hexcore has its own malicious will and fully controls Viktor, and, well... usually I'm only glad when there is a wide variety of theories – I love exploring them and can peacefully ignore those I don't agree with – but I really can't stand this kind of arguing. Leave others some freedom to have their own interpretations, please...

So, why persuading me into adopting this one is a waste of time and effort: I don't like that it deprives him of responsibility and meaningfulness of personally taking it. The mage admitted that he had chosen a wrong way and attempted to set it right, and this is such an admirable rare strength. It's an important part of his character: staying true to his "in the pursuit of great, we failed to do good" and desires to lessen humanity's suffering, his intentions were always for the best, so he is able to consciously renounce evil when he sees that the consequences betray his ethics. This requires immence willpower and intelligence. His own. He isn't simply cleaning up some unruly magical orb's mess after being its puppet, he acts like a complex personality.

(Just imagine, for example, how boring BG3 would be if instead of its interesting vivid characters all the communication/flirting/teamwork was in fact happening only between their illithid tadpoles...)

What I could somewhat accept is the version that the Hexcore was given life by his blood. If its alleged independent mind is a direct creation and part of Viktor himself, then at least it's more logical than appearing from nowhere (or from the Void that is almost a whole continent away and would have already destroyed Piltover and Zaun long before these experiments if it was somehow involved), has actual on-screen basis and doesn't take away his responsibility so entirely.

Speaking of which, I do get his logic in some of my own personal ways. The heavy burden of empathy... The constant frustration... But this would require a whole another post, I'm afraid, and would be highly subjective.

What I see as actual villainizing influence is his own despair. First he had already been about to take his life, then he was horribly killed within an arm's reach of achieving a better future for Zaun, then his hopeful commune was destroyed, a close friend/lover shot him, etc... Anyone in his place would run out of patience to act rationally and nicely, so I understand and forgive him wholeheartedly.

why is this so important?

the world works on energy. when you’re constantly sharing your moves with others, you’re leaving yourself open to their bad vibes. not everyone wants to see you win, and some people might even secretly wish for your downfall. you can’t let that influence your life. also understand that it’s a privilege to be with you. It’s a privilege to be your friend. It’s a privilege to be in the same space as you so please if someone is acting up and is trying to make you feel bad, get rid of them as soon as possible. on top of that, just so you know, evil eye is very real. so please protect yourself from it and a lot of times. It’s these kinds of blockages that stops us from achieving our goals and dreams 

but here’s the kicker: if you’re putting bad energy out there, if you’re secretly wishing for someone else to fail, guess what happens? it reflects right back on you. if you’re praying for someone’s downfall, you’re attracting your own. seriously, what you put out into the universe always comes back, and karma doesn’t miss a beat. if you’re the person trying to take others down or wishing ill will, your life will start crumbling. it’s that simple. i know people that bad things, and they will continue to do bad things to you, but keep in mind that self love is the highest form of protection so they won’t be able to get to you. if you have immense amount of self-love, as well as if you practice, protection, and grounding on daily basis. so you don’t have to go out there and wish that everything bad happens to them. use that energy to build a better life for yourself. stop being a hater, it’s not cute. being an hater will only bring bad energy in your life.

don’t talk bad about others, don’t even think bad about them. if you genuinely wish good things for people, your life will align with those positive energies repeat after me “other people’s success is a proof from the universe/ god that you can have that too” negativity can’t touch you when your heart is clean and pure. when you root for others, you create a cycle of good energy that bounces right back at you.

but if you’re the person who’s always gossiping, throwing shade, or wishing for someone to fall? watch how your life starts falling apart. trust me. it’s not worth it. staying pure, keeping your heart and mind clear of negativity it’s not just for your own good, it’s for your future. like seriously stop, wishing bad for other people. to protect yourself from all the bad energy, start wearing crystals or keep them around you (black obsidian, tourmaline etc) crystals have been used for centuries to guard against negative vibrations. find the ones that resonate with you and make them a part of your daily routine. cleanse them regularly, too.

and when you’re taking your bath, make it a ritual. add salt, turmeric, or any cleansing ingredient that feels right to you. when you’re washing away the physical dirt, you’re also washing away the negative energy you might have picked up throughout the day. make it a habit. let the water purify you.

use sage, santo polo etc to keep negative energy away from you even egg cleanse

keep your thoughts pure.

don’t just cleanse your space cleanse your mind. every thought matters. every feeling you put out into the world matters. protect your inner world because the more you focus on positivity and good vibes, the more it will reflect in your external world. keep this in mind that the more positive and nice you are the better. the more you help people god/ universe will help you, the more you. don’t let other people’s negativity make you a bad person stay pure and nice.

your energy, your peace, and your success they all start within. keep your mind clear of judgment, jealousy, and resentment. when you focus on the good, the universe will deliver it right back to you. but if you focus on the bad, on wishing others ill, you’re opening the door for the universe to serve that right back to you. it’s law.

Well, this isn’t exactly a positive thing, but recently, I have had some interest in learning more about the rise of the USSR. I think I want to finish The Gulage Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. This is how my curiosity was piqued initially. Another thing is this “History in Maps” book I have, I think published by DK, and on each page (or couple of pages) there is a map demonstrating locations and movements across land during important historical events. For example, it covers the major world wars. I’m really excited to read this book. I bought it last year and have only leafed through a little. It’s a large and heavy hardcover book. It was around $30-$50 from Amazon.

Challenge: I get sucked into the political side of social media and end up just very frustrated with how stupid and ignorant and mean people are. I end up wasting a lot of time on this. Overcome: By exploring more creative pursuits and other personal interests both online and offline (such as I am doing right now) to encourage self-discovery and deepen my understanding of other (non-political) areas.

what are some things in nature that inspire you? how do they make you feel, and why? Animals for sure. I love that they inhabit our world so directly. Sometimes I joke that all wild creatures are “homeless.” What’s so fascinating about them is that the outdoors is their home. They know it and understand it better than any human. I also love seeing the little parallels between their behavior and ours – The way the ducks care for their young little chicks (ducklets? hehe). I also think animal behavior is silly sometimes and they make me laugh, like how the iguanas will just toss their bodies into the canal to flee, or peacocks will cross the streets sooooo slowlyyy as if there aren’t 5 cars waiting for them to move. So oblivious and un-self-aware. It’s cute when animals do it – not so much when humans do it, I guess!

reflect on a time when you felt super proud of yourself. what did you achieve, and how did it make you feel? I think graduating from college and getting my degree was my number one proudest moment. I couldn’t stop smiling. I don’t honestly remember being very proud of myself before or after that. I can’t wait to have that feeling once again.

Future self, this letter is shorter than maybe it should be because I’m feeling impatient at the moment and I need to get to work. However, I want you to know I wish you the best. I hope you found a way to worry less and look forward to the future more. I hope you found a way to be brave and enjoy traveling alone (in situations where you have to travel alone because no one else is available). I hope you figured out how to connect with other people better, and if you didn’t yet, don’t be too hard on yourself. It would be enough if you just gained more self-knowledge. I hope you are more patient than me, and if you aren’t yet, that’s okay too. I hope you have learned to notice and praise yourself when you do good things. I hope you are beginning to feel that maybe, just maybe, you are allowed to think you actually met your own standards. Maybe you can feel proud of yourself more often. Maybe you can see more good in the world; maybe there are more people in your life who bring value to it. Interpretation: Yes

Card One: The Ace of Swords

The Ace of Swords is the sword of truth, and pointing upright like it is here it is a Yes answer, so the Ace of Swords appearing as the first card in this reading tells me that The King does see Princess Diana when he looks at Prince William. I feel very unhappy about this as well - I wanted the answer to be a No.

The card also has a crown, for royalty and the power to rule, which tells me that The King also sees Prince William as his heir, the one who will rule after him, so it is not just seeing Princess Diana in him but also recognising that Prince William is the one who will follow in his footsteps as King and trying to help him with that.

The Ace of Swords generally is about new ideas, new strategies, having a vision for the future that you want to manifest etc. It also has the meaning of a breakthrough in your thinking and seeing something from a new point of view. That can involve facing problems honestly and trying to resolve them. This meaning gives me hope that The King is aware that he sees Princess Diana in Prince William and he is consciously working to see and treat Prince William as his own person and not project the feelings/issues he had with his wife onto his son.

Card Two: The King of Wands, reversed

The King of Wands reversed can be some one who is very forceful and dominant, someone who is aggressive in the pursuit of their goals, or someone who is weak as a leader and has no leadership qualities. The energy from this card is of the first meaning - the forceful person. The energy is of someone who can be very passionate about things, who will push to achieve his goals, and that The King finds all this energy to be overwhelming at times. I think that the King of Wands energy is that of Prince William as seen by his father, that Prince William is passionate about his causes, and that he has a plan and goes after what he wants, and that passion and drive can be overwhelming to The King, who seems to prefer to deal with people of a more ?even temperament? - quieter, less forceful, less passion on display in their words.

This appears to me as a case of differing temperaments. The King may struggle to understand and support his son sometimes because Prince William's passion and way of approaching things is so very different from The King's more moderate way of approaching things (and Prince William may struggle to relate to what his father is doing in the same way). I think that the passion and intensity in Prince William reminds The King of Princess Diana, and The King wants to protect his son from what he sees as the pitfalls of operating from that position, but he (The King) isn't sure how to do it or his attempts come across as criticism or something like that - the message gets garbled.

He feels guilty - not in a big way, but in a small way - and that small guilt is mixed in with the sense of responsibility, and that is a burden that The King is carrying that he would really like to put down but he doesn't know how to put it down.

Underlying Energy: The Knight of Cups, reversed

Knights are action cards, and when they are reversed either no action is happening or the wrong sort of action is happening.

Cups are emotions, so there is a lot of feeling underlying The King's actions.

The Knight of Cups can be an apology card. When it is in the reverse, you don't get the apology, but instead you get moodiness, turmoil, and someone avoiding conflict. It can also be a card of vanity or of disappointment.

The energy of this card is of frustrated apology. The King wants to apologise to his sons, to make things up to them, but he can't say the words so he tries to do it by his actions, and that is not working (the action of the knight is in the reverse). There is an energy of frustration here, of being both too permissive and too strict, of not knowing what to do and not asking either. It's a stopped energy, a block on affection, so the genuine feelings and concern for the other person don't come through in quite the way you meant.

Conclusion:

The King does see Princess Diana when he looks at Prince William, especially when Prince William is passionate about something or moving forcefully in pursuit of a gaol. He sees Princess Diana in his son then and he worries that his son will be hurt and burnt out by his passions. He wants his son to take things easier, to care less, so he doesn't get burnt out or hurt. He doesn't understand Prince William's temperament as it is so different from his own, so his advice, while given out of concern, comes across as criticism or disappointment in his son. He does see Prince William as separate from Princess Diana and he does try not to project his issues with Princess Diana onto Prince William.

There is a sense of guilt mixed up in this. The King feels responsible for what his sons went through after their mother died, and he feels guilty about this, so he tries to make it up to them, but it never quite works. He is sending out messages of love and affection in his way, but his sons receive love and affection in a different way so the message gets garbled or blocked.

UGHHHH! I loveeeee this one! The teen mall aesthetic, the brat shirt (even though the fitness text is a little cringe but who cares), Julia, everything decorated in her room, the way it gets digitized, the second part when she's in that pixel field, the intro with the planes, the outro with the the apple outline, it's just so great!!! I do wish they used the TikTok dance, but I understand why they didn't. It's probably a nightmare to try and license and that's okay lol

10/10 Overall: Our first song pack for Just dance!! The songpack is great, but... I miss the hype seasons had. We'd have a buildup, things to look forward to, actual trailers... Now it's just a lifeless "take it all or leave it" cash grab. We didn't even get achievements for any of the maps or anything. I guess I'm not surprised, I hope the budget ubi has is doing okay. I also think that none of the new maps have anything to do with Fitness, except Feel So Close... and we saw how that turned out. :( But I still have hope for the future! I saw your post about the love lives of boys, and I have a question: do you think James and Lily were each other’s first when it comes to sex and related things?

They were described as popular and attractive (at least Lily, for sure), so it's likely others would have their eyes on them.

I feel like it’s possible that Lily might have had a boyfriend before, but as a Muggleborn living during that time, I imagine she would’ve been very cautious about relationships to avoid being taken advantage of.

With James, it’s even harder to picture him having a girlfriend before Lily. Before puberty, he was probably too caught up in his friendships, moreover James and his friends became Animagi when they were around 15 or 16, so he had plenty of secrets to keep. By fifth year, he had a major crush on Lily (he was even doodling her initials on his exam paper — what a loser). Despite the common belief that he asked her out constantly, canon paints it differently. It seems like he wanted to ask her out for a while, but his Gryffindor bravery didn’t quite extend to girls, and when he finally did during that lake incident, it came out in the worst way possible.Since we know he went to the Dursleys' wedding before the end of the first semester of seventh year, it suggests he and Lily started dating at the beginning of their final year. For Lily to agree to date him, I think they must have developed a solid friendship in sixth year, which makes it doubtful that James would have risked losing that chance by dating other girls. I think it’s more likely that he went on a few dates or kissed a girl or two, but never really had a real girlfriend before Lily.

One of the most important things to remember is that wizarding society tends to be fairly conservative about relationships, and the UK in the 70s was generally quite traditional as well. So, I highly doubt that either James or Lily was casually sleeping around before they got together at 17. In fact, I think it’s completely normal to have your first real relationship at that age, even if that’s not a popular opinion nowadays.

Generally I don't like to believe they were each other's firsts-- personally I just don't find that idea at all romantic-- but also to be perfectly honest it wouldn't be that weird if that was the case, for many of the reasons you've outlined. It's just that I personally dislike the "being each other's firsts" trope so much that I can't write it lol

Usually, the way I write them, they've each perhaps dated a couple of people and have each had sex with one other person before they start going out, which I think is fairly realistic. Especially because they were both popular, outgoing, and lived in the very insular community of a boarding school. I do think that, considering their age, it would have been the first real sexual and romantic connection either of them had, which to me seems more important anyway.

I also doubt either of them was casually sleeping around previously to that-- not that there's anything wrong with that (i mean, I certainly can't talk lol) but like you said, by and large this would not have been very socially acceptable at the time, particularly for teenage girls, and considering the age they got married they both seem pretty traditionally monogamous lol. In my fic Lily doesn't have sex with her previous boyfriend Alfie at all, which is not abnormal for a teen relationship, but has her first time with an older muggle boy. I guess it depends how you see the characters-- although I do sometimes feel they're portrayed a little too adult in their approach to relationships and dating. Like there needs to be 10x more insecurity and awkwardness there haha

Weirdly a criticism I once received of my fic was that someone told me they preferred for James to have had a girlfriend during sixth year that Lily would be jealous of, and they disliked that I hadn't gone that route. While I actually did consider it at one point (it's such a classic jily trope) and I totally get why people like that as a plot point, it just didn't really feel right for his character in the end. And to me it felt quite realistic that he'd only have had one girlfriend before Lily. Also, like you, I tend to think that at the first whiff of Lily possibly being interested in him James probably wouldn't risk that chance by dating someone else lol.

So I guess my answer is somewhere in between; to me it doesn't feel realistic for them to be super experienced with multiple serious relationships under their belt, but personally I do prefer them to have "dabbled" a bit I guess. I think there's a balance between treating these teenage characters as adults with adult dating lives vs having them be completely inexperienced.

People have ideas but no plan, which means they have ... nothing.

And nothing will ever happen about it, no matter how much people insist it will.

The other reason I'm generally annoyed with the "Abolish X" crowd who actually DO mean "abolish X" and not a watered-down version is that ime they very rarely have fully thought out the implications of what they're demanding and then get angry when other people ask about it.

"Family abolition means completely removing legal ties for family units and allowing all children the choice of where they live" okay. So if I see a three-year-old throwing a fit because she doesn't want to leave the park, and I go over and tell her if she comes home with me she can stay as long as she likes and then we'll get McDonald's on the way home, that three-year-old should have the ability to make that decision? The parent or guardian has no legal recourse to stop me from taking her? Cause if the answer's no, that's not abolition, that's reform baby!

"I'm done talking about what we'll do with rapists and murderers after we abolish prisons, it's all anybody ever wants to talk about!" Well yeah man! 98% of people just interpreted your words as "we're going to let murderers roam around killing people at will"! You need to explain very clearly what plans you have that will stop them that aren't incarceration or you're not going to make any headway! And if your answer involves any form of "well of course SOME people can't be allowed total freedom" - that's not abolition, that's reform baby!

I'm not even gonna touch the number of people who think we should abolish the police and replace them with what are essentially roaming squads of vigilantes dispensing "community justice", whatever the fuck that means.

Like these aren't "gotcha" questions, they're legitimate problems you're going to have to contend with. And if you wave away all these questions with "you're just making up ridiculous scenarios" and "we'll think of something to fix that once we destroy the current system", then yeah actually, I DO think you care more about sounding radical than about making any kind of change.
