I do wonder though…Say OPLA does get more seasons: How’re they gonna start handling the really tall characters. Y’know, the Big Boys. Buggy’s 6’4” but you can easily get away with not having him be that tall because his character is so, well, silly and with a tendency to fail upwards that being shorter almost suits him.

You could probably even get away with Smoker being 6’5”-ish instead of his apparent 6’10” if you cast him just right with an intimidating presence and wall of musculature. But let’s say we get even a cameo of Crocodile — I’m sorry but Crocco’s gotta be a Big Boy to me. It’s truly part of what sells him for me. Yeah, he could also probably just pass by with charisma, bulk, and clothing alone but the world of One Piece is filled with some monstrously tall characters, both good and bad. And only so many of them can probably get away with being played by relatively normal-sized people using their command of the scene to create this larger than life demeanor.

So. What do you think they will or should do? 🤔

i dont think i mentioned that i was going to it on here, but i did see big time rush again last night with my in-laws as well as two of their sisters. it was amazing again. loved it. if they havent stopped by your city on tour yet, they’re gonna be touring for another month. check the tour dates. if you wanna go, do it, so many people told me last year they wanted to go and didn’t, so if you can go now, do it, i can’t recommend it enough. after the show, i heard a couple guys talking to one another outside the bathrooms, presumably waiting for their girlfriends. but they were saying to one another stuff like, “yeah, my girlfriend got these tickets kinda as a joke for my birthday but that was actually really amazing.” lemme tell you, those two guys were good boyfriends that night. a guy in front of us last year sucked and was whiny and dragged his girlfriend out before the encore, and you could tell it was the type of thing where he was purposefully trying not to enjoy a good time.

i’ve also never seen a band literally stop traffic like big time rush. both times. given, we saw them in mansfield, ma, which is kind of in the middle of nowhere, and gilford, nh, which is totally and completely in the middle of nowhere. and we were a stuck in traffic last night over a mile and a half from the venue for almost an hour. the opening acts started at 7. originally we were supposed to get there at 6:56 or smth and we parked at 7:43. i dont know when the opening acts actually started, the guys came out late. we got lucky enough to miss jax’s set 🙏🤍 lol. we arrived during max’s set, and he was really good, i don’t think i’d listened to him before but he was impressive. he said in the intermission he’d be waiting to meet everyone and take pictures at the merch stand and when i got up to use the restroom and get a drink and that line was by far the biggest i;d ever seen, and i worked four years at a theme park! it was literally farther than the eye can see, and as i kept walking back it kept getting even bigger than i could imagine. i’m probably gonna queue one of his songs for the coming weeks.

and one last thing about last night...... i got a bone to pick w the brand “liquid death”. y’all make it look like it’s booze on purpose. you can sell cans of water, that’s actually a great and very ethical idea, but that branding damn well makes itself look like alcohol and the very name “liquid death.” dude. i ordered a drink and also asked for a water, and the guy grabs a can from a fridge full of beers and i’m like.... this is... water? this liquid death? cause it sounds like it’s gonna get you wasted from the name. i was tryin not to give him too hard a time and he was like, “oh yeah, you’re gonna love the taste of this stuff. it actually is just water though.” and like the first part sounded a little sarcastic so i was like “....this is for my pregnant sister-in-law” and i felt like i might’ve been giving him a hard time.... you can put beverages in cans w/o them looking as much like hard seltzer or beer or cider as possible, i’m just sayin. but i tasted a sip of it and it was fine.

Hot take and not to be a killjoy or the shipping police but people treating Viktor or Jinx's aroace headcanons as if they were canon is not the revolutionary take people think it is.

Headcanons are always all right but we have to acknowledge that they are somehow damaging when they apply to stereotypes. It might not be the case for everyone but most of the time people unconsciously assume that disability/mental illness=asexuality. These headcanons erase the freedom of attraction from people who are already seen as unable to have sexual/romantic experiences/desires, when it's completely untrue and harmful.

You can headcanon Viktor and Jinx as aroace, but I have seen people changing their minds once Viktor is no longer disabled (s2 with all of his other forms) and Jinx is no longer as mentally ill (alternate universe Powder). And it speaks wonders of how people see these characters.

"I never thought about Jinx being able to feel romantic/sexual attraction until s2!" To believe she's actually only capable of that when she's not "damaged" is incredibly disturbing. Especially since Jinx has always had a bit of a flirty personality too.

"I've always seen Viktor as asexual, I don't know why!" That's fine. You can headcanon him as ace. But I believe there is a reason behind it, most of the time, if for some inexplicable reason the "vibes" of the disabled character are making you think he's ace.

I say all of this being aroaspec myself, by the way. Headcanon all you want but going to people's posts commenting how "it's weird for you that they have romantic/sexual plots when they're clearly aroace" is not a win at all. It's a headcanon, after all, and it should be treated as such, and that's fine. But it also is damaging to spread stereotypes like these.

Of course the disabled character is asexual. Of course the mentally ill character is aromantic. It's not as revolutionary as you might think, tbh.

Fandom is not activism and it's all right to have any headcanons you want BUT some of them are filled with damaging stuff and perhaps we should look into ourselves more before treating these assumptions as something canon.

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.

But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. the thing is that they're so fascinated by sex, they love sex, they can't imagine a world without sex - they need sex to sell things, they need sex to be part of their personality, they need sex to prove their power - but they hate sex. they are disgusted by it.

sex is the only thing that holds their attention, and it is also the thing that can never be discussed directly.

you can't tell a child the normal names for parts of their body, that's sexual in nature, because the body isn't a body, it's a vessel of sex. it doesn't matter that it's been proven in studies (over and over) that kids need to know the names of their genitals; that they internalize sexual shame at a very young age and know it's 'dirty' to have a body; that it overwhelmingly protects children for them to have the correct words to communicate with. what matters is that they're sexual organs. what matters is that it freaks them out to think about kids having body parts - which only exist in the context of sex.

it's gross to talk about a period or how to check for cancer in a testicle or breast. that is nasty, illicit. there will be no pain meds for harsh medical procedures, just because they feature a cervix.

but they will put out an ad of you scantily-clad. you will sell their cars for them, because you have abs, a body. you will drip sex. you will ooze it, like a goo. like you were put on this planet to secrete wealth into their open palms.

they will hit you with that same palm. it will be disgusting that you like leather or leashes, but they will put their movie characters in leather and latex. it will be wrong of you to want sexual freedom, but they will mark their success in the number of people they bed.

they will crow that it's inappropriate for children so there will be no lessons on how to properly apply a condom, even to teens. it's teaching them the wrong things. no lessons on the diversity of sexual organ growth, none on how to obtain consent properly, none on how to recognize when you feel unsafe in your body. if you are a teenager, you have probably already been sexualized at some point in your life. you will have seen someone also-your-age who is splashed across a tv screen or a magazine or married to someone three times your age. you will watch people pull their hair into pigtails so they look like you. so that they can be sexy because of youth. one of the most common pornography searches involves newly-18 young women. girls. the words "barely legal," a hiss of glass sand over your skin.

barely legal. there are bills in place that will not allow people to feel safe in their own bodies. there are people working so hard to punish any person for having sex in a way that isn't god-fearing and submissive. heteronormative. the sex has to be at their feet, on your knees, your eyes wet. when was the first time you saw another person crying in pornography and thought - okay but for real. she looks super unhappy. later, when you are unhappy, you will close your eyes and ignore the feeling and act the role you have been taught to keep playing. they will punish the sex workers, remove the places they can practice their trade safely. they will then make casual jokes about how they sexually harass their nanny.

and they love sex but they hate that you're having sex. you need to have their ornamental, perfunctory, dispassionate sex. so you can't kiss your girlfriend in the bible belt because it is gross to have sex with someone of the same gender. so you can't get your tubes tied in new england because you might change your mind. so you can't admit you were sexually assaulted because real men don't get hurt, you should be grateful. you cannot handle your own body, you cannot handle the risks involved, let other people decide that for you. you aren't ready yet.

but they need you to have sex because you need to have kids. at 15, you are old enough to parent. you are not old enough to hear the word fuck too many times on television.

they are horrified by sex and they never stop talking about it, thinking about it, making everything unnecessarily preverted. the saying - a thief thinks everyone steals. they stand up at their podiums and they look out at the crowd and they sign a bill into place that makes sexwork even more unsafe and they stand up and smile and sign a bill that makes gender-affirming care illegal and they get up and they shrug their shoulders and write don't say gay and they get up, and they make the world about sex, but this horrible, plastic vision of it that they have. this wretched, emotionless thing that holds so much weight it's staggering. they put their whole spine behind it and they push and they say it's normal!

this horrible world they live in. disgusted and also obsessed.
