Raphael looked at his cell once again, eyeing the last text sent between him and Casey. Weather wasn't gonna be the best for them to go and paint the town red tonight but seemed like everyone was looking to sort of make it a night in together at the lair. April offered to bring snacks, Mikey had pizza ready to order up, Don and Leo went about selecting their movie choices. Might be lame, could get stuck watching lame nerd shit. Was how the turtle with the most attitude phased his text to his boyfriend, but ya know might be nice to spend time with the others he had also tossed in because despite what he said or acted like it was clear it did like spending time with his brothers and April. So it might be nice to do so with his boyfriend as well. Raphael asking without asking if they could maybe join in even if they might hate the movies they get stuck with? Because he would never outright say he simply likes his families company. Besides they could make fun whatever stupid thing they get stuck with so they could be fun.

Casey seemed fine with that idea, or maybe he was just aware of what Raph was asking, chances ere he just might. Saying he'd be there so Raph made sure he saved the best spot for him and Casey, the corner of the couch so they could lean against each other and rag on the movie, enough to be heard to annoy if they wanted. Well slightly being just out of the way if they got snug enough against each other so if they really got bored they could as Casey once told him do what you're actually meant to do at the movies. And make out.

As everyone else got in with what they were bringing along though and Raph turned to look back for maybe the tenth time hoping when Aprils voice called out Casey would be strolling on in with her. Only for his heart to sink a little when he didn't see that bright and wide, toothless grin he came to adore so much. He slumped in his place as looked at his phone. Casey did say he was coming right? Yeah he did. He didn't miss any calls from them, Don made their phones so signal wasn't an issue? If something came up Casey would have texted to let him know. Quirking his beak a little he sent another text simply asking where they were. Well everyone settled in, Raph hadn't even paid attention to what was on face to his phone he settle for even that little read to at least say he looked at it and was maybe on his way. But his mind started to wonder and worry the more the minutes went by near half way through the movie and he's wondering if he should just cut his losses and call them. That's when he finally hears the turnstiles move, the familiar clicking sound the bars made when they passed through them.

It had to be Casey clearly, as he turned to look over face was already fixed into a scrawl. Drawing up a leg to rest his knee on to the couch, a hand plants on the ground already working to push himself up from his spot. "Jeez ya coulda least said you were runnin'-"

Words had got caught in his throat his sentence left unfinished once eyes settled on to Casey. He'd seen Casey look pretty banged up many times sure, after hockey games or practice, or even the nights they got a little bit of bad luck on that landed someone just a bit more hurt. But it was all something you could walk off in the end. Raph was no stranger to the bruises Casey often carried, hell some where even from Raphael himself. These were fresh though they were still redden no where near cooling down into shades of blue or purple.

Raph's eyes hadn't once left Casey, when they walked in further, he wasn't the first one to turn and notice them when they made their way through the turnstiles Mikey moved ahead and was the first to gasp and gawk at Casey's state in that moment. Casey went on to talk to Mikey seeming to act as if it was all nothing to worry about, Raphael however was too busy looking at every movement Casey made. He saw how they favored one leg of the other how they were hold on to a arm that was hanging far too loose. How his shoulder was hunched in an odd way, his breathing seems wrong, like breathing hurt him alone. There dried blood around his nose and a split in his lip. He's all scuffed on top of it all covered in dirt and grime. His clothes are wet but some spots are soaked. Like he had landed into puddles, there's scraps on the bits of skin not covered and a tear on one of his sleeves. Eyes look back towards Casey's legs he can see something seeping in against the black of his jeans, not quite like the water. There's something about how Casey is holding himself in the moment he clearly didn't win said fight but even when Casey got his ass handed to him he found it in him to still boast.

Finally he moved and near stormed over to Casey and Mikey, still not a single word given as he brushed past his baby brother getting. No hellos exchanged or a word of worry given to Casey.

"You're comin' with me." Is all he tells them before setting a hand on their back and pushing them away from everyone else. Raphael didn't need pay a single word to anyone else in the lair, they all got the message loud and clear from the lack of shouting on Raphael's end. Slowly they all returned to movie, as Raphael brought Casey to their well sort of medical area. It was the best they could make so with, bed to rest in if anyone got sick and some medical supplies they got lucky to find. Can't exactly go about a doctor to fix them up when any of them got hurt. Ignoring anything Casey tried to say as Raph pushed him into the room. Door shut behind them. "Sit." is all he overs as he walks over them over to the bed, least Casey was willing to listen.

Raph took a moment to look them over better, eyes mostly focused towards Casey's arm fingers gently feel over the shoulder, he knows a dislocated shoulder when he sees it. Looking back over Casey's face, he moves to cup their cheek in his hand, not the usual hold he gives them. He's looking close at them eye the scraps, and bruises they don't seem too bad though. You think that would settle him but it just made something else come over him instead. "you look 'ike shit." Normally a remark like that would have bite to it or a teasing undertone. There was neither in his voice.

“It looks worse than it is. I’m sure it’ll be gone in a couple of days…”

Raphael wasn't sure if that was meant to ease his worry, or piss him off. Normally he be yelling at Casey, scolding them even like he always dose but he hasn't really said much of anything. He gestures his head to Casey's shoulder a moment. "Pretty sure 'hat won't fix itself in a few days." His tone lacked a lot of his usual snark even when he spoke as he felt over the area again, deeply rubbing in against the muscle, surely working a whine out of Casey from the pressure he places there. It been like that a bit too long you could feel Casey's muscle had started to lock up, explained the breathing and why Casey was holding it as he was. Gently rubbing small circles with his thumb he could feel how tight it had gotten, he could easy imagine how painful the spasming muscles had to be. There nothing but a low growl working under his breath as every point of his fingers seems to cause hitches in Casey's breath. Itching for answers but he was trying to focus on one thing at time here.

"try and relax" Raph simply says a word of warning "it'll be easier if you stay limp." he adds in as he moves to set his hand against Casey's arm still gently rubbing circles to their muscle to sooth it over and help Casey stay relaxed as they were, he didn't want them to brace themself.

It's a little different than doing it to another turtle, their muscles are a bit thicker least compare to Casey's own. HE shouldn't need much force. Once it seems like Casey is ready he waste no time giving them a second to try and expect it would just make Casey tighten up. One hand set to the front of their shoulder as Raph got Casey's to lift his arm. Fast and forceful he snaps his movements quick to slot the joints back into place. All that follows is the sicking sound of bones and flesh shifting and popping into place. Followed by the pained grunt Casey lets out. Letting Casey arm settle as he gently returns to rubbing soft circles over their shoulders. Soon he reaches over and pulls their head in to rest against his plastron while they ride out the pain, softly allowing fingers to pet over the back of their hair.. Something to help ease them and focus on a different sensation as Raphael just idly stroked over Casey's hair. Tangling his fingers in-between the dark deep black color of them. He can feel gravel trapped in all of Casey's hair slightly combing it for them as he worked tangles free. Just holding Casey close to himself as they breath through the pain. Raph isn't always the best when it comes to mapping out his emotions, he can't always put words to his thoughts, but he understood when he was angry. Seeing Casey like this just kindle it in his vines.

Casey breaths out as they speak again seemed through the worse of it, they were going to need to ice his shoulder Raph thought before he moved back from Casey. Foot hooking the near by chair so he could drag it over to sit in. Fingers drag across their arm but stayed to rest there as he looked at them. Moving his gaze down to Casey's knee now he drops his arms and lifts there leg, working to roll the denim up so he can get a better look at their knee.Raph didn't ask, nor care to tell Casey what he was doing he was simply rolling it up till he work it over their bloody knee. Another growl works from the turtle as he eyes it. It wasn't too bad, but still. Fingers glide down towards their ankle slightly taking hold to try and twist it a little and gauge the reaction Casey gave. Nothing seem broken that's good.

Reaching over he snags bandages, and some rubbing alcohol they had to help clean it up. He's trying his best not to lose it just yet, working quietly as he starts to warp the bandages around Casey's leg. Not the first time he's fixed Casey up either now is it? He's done this before when Casey went to far trying to prove some point taking on too much stress and made stupid choices. Only to get hurt like this in the end. He can hear Casey voice drop low when they call his name. Looking up at Casey again. His eyes are soft and sad, his mouth curved in a frown, mouth moving to speech.

"i'm not mad at you." Raph cuts them off with. "I don' care ya late, I don' car ya didn' text me or call me or whatever the fuck! I fuckin' pissed off at how bad ya are Case!" Less Casey got attacked and was lucky to make it out only banged up. He huffs out a puff of air at that thought. "Ya go silent on me and then when you show up ya look 'ike 'his! an' wanna act 'ike is no big deal well guess what dumbass it is a big deal! A major big deal!" He doesn't care if anyone else can hear them right now as he shouts."To them! to me!" he fixes a look at Casey "I get it ya mister tough guy gotta stroll around like ya fuckin' arm wasn' in place!" Now all his anger is coming out, flaring as he's known to do. Then reigns in his anger or tries to at least.

Letting eyes fall back down to their knee, he knows Casey can handle himself. His anger isn't aimed Casey's way in the slightest here, he dosen't know what happened he just know Casey is hurt and he ain't okay with that. Leg all taken care of Raph doesn't bother with rolling back down Casey's pant leg as he moves to stand up now, hand lifting to take hold of their chin so he can tilt their head back and look at them. Thumb strokes over their cheek as he sets a hand down beside them and slightly leans leans in on Casey. Nothing about the look in his eyes is clam though, his touch on Casey's cheek is more observing whoever hurt them did. Sure Raph is aggressive and he's just clearly upset that Casey got hurt. Casey's fine they are going to be fine. Casey's faced worse he knows that all too. Hates it but still. He just lets his star settle over brown, brown eyes he loves. He drawn in his breath clearly trying to keep his cool.

"Are you okay?" he asks for once since pushing them into their little medical bay area. He sees how Casey looks at him, a slightly smile as they try to tell him he's fine. Raph just hums clearly that answer wasn't enough for him. Honestly? he wanted to hunt down who ever hurt Casey, hell he felt like he could take one anyone when mad enough. And right now? Eyes blinked slowly when he opened them again he saw nothing but white, hot seething rage. Ready to demand who did it make Casey tell him and head out and do twice as worse to them. One of Casey's hand set on him though and he blinked again.

Shifting green eyes back to really look at Casey, it was enough to cool the hot head down a notch or two as he just growled again. Sometimes annoyed how easily Casey was able to do that. He wanted to got bat shit crazy on whoever hurt them, chances were if he did learn who did it? Well Raph would do just that but have time to not outright beat them to an inch of their life. Letting his forehead rest to Casey's own.

"You own me answers Jones, an' I am beatin' up whoever did this got it?" slightly pulling back now just enough to change the angle of his head as he pressed a light kiss to their split lip. "We should still ice your shoulder. Think ya foot can take weight?" he asks soon smirking a bit as he decided not to give them a chance to answer though. "I know your the prince between us but ya hurt so" scooping his arms under Casey's legs he easily pulled them into his hold, Casey weighed nearly little to Raph. from how often he threw them around. Smirking bright as he he started to head to the door, to go to the kitchen meaning everyone would get to see. "But I think ya still should get the princess treatment too."

hi em!! how have you been??

i've been going back to relive the 2012 tmnt show, and since i haven't read any of their comics, how comic accurate would you say 2012 tmnt is compared? i don't have a real baseline to say how accurate any of their interactions are, but i totally see why mikey is your fav based from the show

Hiya beloved! You've given me the opportunity to info dump about TMNT so I'm doing pretty swell 😌. Now on to business!

The skills, personalities, and relationships that we see in the 2k12 series are reflected in the comics to some degree, whether that be via the original Mirage comics, the current IDW main continuity, or another series. (Disclaimer that I haven't read everything from these series so I'm going off of the information that I currently know.)

We'll start off with the turtle, the myth, the legend... Lee Lee! I think one of the things that opened me up to Leo more was the fact that he acted more his age in the 2k12 series. One of the turtles once referenced Star Trek in the Mirage comics so I like that 2k12 had all of the brothers interested in a parody of Star Trek. It was adorable that Leo was a big Space Heroes stan.

I also remember how 2k12 Leo watched Mikey play an arcade game in their home, and after Mikey lost, Leo was like, “You did well my son. Now watch a real sensei at work!�� It was fun to see him having interests like that outside of training and meditation.

And there was actually a scene from IDW TMNT #13 where Raph and Mikey were playing some variant of Twister while Donnie and Leo just watched, not wanting to get involved. But then after Mikey’s mood soured a bit after revealing that Splinter had snapped at him, Leo tried to cheer him up by playing against him in Twister.

I think that goes to show that sometimes the big brother in Leo trumps his more reserved, serious side. And sometimes he just wants to do the same shit as his bros like when they all had a dance party in the 2k12 Season 1 finale lmao.

Also, I don’t necessarily remember how Leo and Donnie interacted with each other in 2k12, but it’s funny because they tended to argue with each other in the IDW comics to the point where Raph and Mikey were both like, “WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP?! WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT.” Lmao that’s what you get when you pit the more spiritual/stickler turtle against the empirical turtle.

2k12 does the whole A Team with Leo and Raph and then the B Team with Mikey and Donnie. I feel like this kind of made it seem like Leo and Raph were closer while Donnie and Mikey were closer. It’s interesting because in the Mirage comics, Raph actually considered Mikey his bestie. Well, at least until Casey showed up in the series.

Either way, Leo and Raph do butt heads at times, especially because Leo wants to wait and make a plan before engaging while Raph wants to go in guns blazing. This is prevalent in both the comics and in the 2k12 series.

One thing that someone pointed out was that Leo tended to act like the “medic” in the 2k12 series. He was often seen wrapping Mikey’s wounds and holding a bag of ice to Mikey’s head. Likewise, in the Mirage TMNT #4, Mikey got his arm sliced pretty badly by the Foot and Leo wrapped his wound. Although, I think that probably just says more about Mikey and Leo’s relationship than it does about Leo being more medically inclined since Donnie is seen acting as the medic in IDW TMNT #30.

Anywho. I think 2k12 Raph is pretty similar to his comic counterparts, especially in the impulsive/hotheaded department (even though that aspect can taper off a bit depending on his development).

In the IDW comics, Casey stumbled into April’s store after getting physically abused by his alcoholic father. Raph became so enraged over what happened to Casey that he literally ran out of the store and booked it all the way to Casey’s house with the intent to kill Casey’s dad. And then in 2k12 when Shredder threw Splinter down the drain, Raph went berserk and lost himself to anger until Mikey hugged him and calmed him down. So, yeah, Raph is very protective of his loved ones in most iterations which can translate to him losing himself to his anger.

Speaking of Raph's loved ones, in 2k12, Raph had a pet turtle named Spike who later mutated into Slash. However, in the Archie TMNT comics, Slash was an alien who came to earth and became an enemy of the turtles. In the IDW comics, Slash was mutated alongside Splinter and the other turtles. While he attacked the turtles at first, he later became friends with Mikey. So 2k12 has its own take on the Raph and Slash relationship.

As for 2k12 Donnie, I think the biggest discrepancy between him and his comic counterparts is his romantic infatuation with April. I think he or another turtle also had a crush on April in the TMNT movie, but I don’t remember that applying to the comics. In 2k12 he was obsessed with April and fought with Casey for her affection. Meanwhile, in IDW TMNT #31, Donnie and Casey were pals and even talked about sports while fixing up a motorcycle together.

April and Casey left together after that and Donnie was happy for them.

Donnie even listened to April express her worry over the fact that Casey didn't want to return to school like she did. So, all in all, Donnie remained more firmly in the friendship camp with April in the comics while 2k12 Donnie was lovesick over her. This was probably due to the fact that 2k12 April was Donnie's age and a romantic relationship between them seemed more plausible because of that.

But enough about Apritello because now it's time to dive into Mikey. So 2k12 Mikey had to shoulder a lot of the comedy throughout the series which often resulted in him coming across less intelligent or competent for the sake of getting some laughs. This led to his brothers treating him poorly in some instances ("Why do I always get stuck with Mikey?" "I don't want him. And I'm in charge!" "Over my dead body!").

I mean, sure, Mikey will make jokes in the comics and do annoying things sometimes, but he's really not quite as childish as 2k12 Mikey. We're talking about the turtle who openly defied Splinter and left his family behind to do the right thing. The turtle who isolated himself after Leo had been badly hurt by the Foot, and who not only spent a lot of his time pounding a punching bag, but was so full of aggression that he literally punched a gaping hole through the farm wall. (He's wearing a red mask because these are the Mirage turtles who all wore red masks.)

Shit like that makes you think a little deeper about that huge Mikey from Journey to the Center of Mikey's Mind that represented Mikey's anger.

One thing IDW has established is that Mikey is very empathetic. In TMNT #16, Splinter said that Mikey's empathy for others was a virtue, not a flaw, and that Mikey only wished to love and to be loved. While 2k12 Mikey has compassion and empathy, I feel like there were definitely times where he missed the mark, which is reflected in a Mirage issue as well.

During the 2k12 Slash and Destroy episode, Mikey showed a lack of respect for Raph's belongings. Mikey got pizza stains all over the vintage comic books that Raph had been collecting for 6 years. Instead of apologizing, Mikey glossed over the situation and said he'd clean the comics later. Then in The Croaking episode, Mikey trashed the farm house, and instead of apologizing and offering to clean up, he ended up running away without cleaning up anything.

In the Mirage issue I mentioned previously, Tales of the TMNT #55, Raph had a teddy bear named Brown Bear who was missing an eye. Brown Bear was very important to Raph and he liked sleeping with it. Well one day Mikey was playing some pranks on Raph and it made Raph so angry that he tried to hurt Mikey. Mikey felt bad about riling Raph up throughout the day, so he ended up sewing a second eye on Brown Bear as an apology. Raph was touched by the gesture and that settled things between them. Raph even let Mikey use him as a pillow later that night.

Now in that instance, Mikey ended up being apologetic and righted his wrong, but he wasn't empathetic of Raph initially since he continued to play pranks on Raph instead of stopping after he saw how much the first prank angered Raph.

I do think we can see Mikey's empathy and compassion jump out in some other instances in 2k12 like when he was the only one who was insistent on helping Leatherhead when they first stumbled upon him. When Leatherhead thought himself a monster, Mikey responded by saying, "Or maybe you just think you're a monster because everyone treats you that way."

So I think IDW in particular handles the empathetic aspect of Mikey in a more mature and thought provoking way, but 2k12 delivered on this in some ways as well.

Annnd okay. I'm going to shut up now because this is already long and I'm not really sure if I ended up running off course or if I sufficiently answered what you wanted to know but aslkdja.

so ... imma admit a thing here

long talk below - feel free to ignore (if you’re an AVID 2k12 fan maaaybe tread lightly here? It’s not an intentional bashing or anything, just my general thoughts so far shalhgsa)

I haven’t watched 2k12 turtles in its entirety, or even in proper order. I’ve seen a good chunk of random episodes (mostly me bouncing around looking for good mikey stuff as i am prone to doing) and ... it just wasn’t for me.

[ And in case someone says it’s cause Rise, I checked out the series like a year BEFORE i saw rise and it just didn’t vibe ]

But with this hiatus going on quite a bit longer than we thought it would ... boredom is getting to me and it’s the only turtles series on available on hulu (i’ve already watched the 90s trilogy and the 2007 movie too many times to count)

so i thought “ok, i’m gonna sit back, turn off my bias brain and just watch it as it is”. I knew that it had elements that I liked, and thought that the things that had rubbed me the wrong way originally were only really grating on me because i expected them to.

Watching a show actively looking for the things you don’t like is no way to go into anything

So I sat back, threw it on and sat through the first two episodes

And ... I dunno, I really want to give this series a chance (at lEAST the first season in it’s entirety), but the tone is just so ... mean?? TT~TT

maybe my belly has gone soft from how affectionate the rise boys are and maybe it’s just me, but the boys are in 2k12 are just so MEAN to one another. It felt like every other line was jab or insult towards each other.

And i know they have instances of good familial content (those were actually the episodes I previously sought out specifically to watch)

but there really wasn’t even a hint of that in these first two episodes - and that don’t bode too well for my uber sensitive heart. I love familial validation man, i eat that shit up

and cause it can’t go without saying (me being who i am)

... i forgot how they made mikey like, a legitimate idiot? I still adore him, do NOT get me wrong but oh. my god. i had to pause in the middle cause i was getting legitimately frustrated sahlhgsa

but since i DID want to focus on the positives ...

A lot of the humor lands really solidly, there are some really hilarious lines and their line delivery really sells it

    - i’m just not a huge fan of burp/fart/gross out humor

The opening is an absolute bop, no denying

The animation isn’t nearly as bad as i've seen a lot of people say

I do like the boys individually: Leo’s a fucking nerd, donnie’s a sassy sweetie, raph has some good lines, and i love that mikey is a little nutcase

Their voices actors are also incredible - they fit their characters really well and they deliver their lines PERFECTLY

but i think this kinda ... encompasses my entire relationship with this series.

It has quite a few things that I like about it ... but the things that i don’t like, i really don’t like.

I think the best way to explain it would be like trying to eat a snickers bar when you’re allergic to peanuts. You love the chocolate, the carmel, and the nougat. But it’s impossible to eat the entire thing without eating the peanuts too.

I can’t enjoy the things i like about the show, without also taking in the stuff that has literally brought me to tears it frustrates me so much.

maybe it’s cause it’s late and i’m tired, so i’ll keep trying to watch it tomorrow

but these are my thoughts on the first two episodes. Not even including all the stuff i know that’s coming.

Soooooo, I’ve recently updated my Tumblr page to a blog dedicated to all my fandoms (musing, headcanons, writing, gifs, pics, the works, basically anything and everything in relation to them) since I wasn’t really ever doing anything with it other than using it to share pics mostly. But ever since I stumbled back into the TMNT fandom, I’ve been searching Tumblr for fan content and OMGOSH, did I hit the jackpot! Headcanons, fanfics, Turtle x reader stories, so much juicy stuff! Am hooked! Dunno why I never tried searching for similar stuff in the past for my other fandoms! I guess I just... didn’t realize there was so much content here. :O But anyway, I always wanted a place to share ideas and thoughts regarding my fandoms outside of sites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, and heck, it’s been here under my nose all this time... Y’all gonna have to forgive me; I’m an old fart. ;P (Insert image of Slowpoke for reference) So without further ado...

Imma start this blog off really simple and, as the title states, just give you all a small-ish idea of where each TMNT universe stands (or ranks?) with me, personally... Note the ‘personally’ part so please don’t feel offended if I don’t share the same opinion as you on a particular verse. ^^; I have my own tastes and will respect the next person’s when it comes to them. ;) Also, please beware the typos (which there most definitely will be)...

MIRAGE COMICS~

Imma just say it: I haven’t read any of them yet. :/ There probably are sites out there that would allow you to view them online for free, but in truth, I’ve been a little slack about trying to find any... That may however change someday as I always tell myself I should really seek out the source material so it’s only a matter of time. What I do know, however, is that they’re of course a lot darker than most incarnations (which I don’t have a problem with personally) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to exactly how much darker. X’D The closest I’ve come to ‘knowing’ these Turts comes from watching the Turtles Forever movie and they weren’t in it for a long time so it’s very difficult to say what they actually mean to me, so we’ll just put these guys down in the ‘not sure’ column for now. ;)

HAHA~ I think any fan of the franchise as a whole knows this little gem! The series that really hit it off and spawned over a 190 eps! Quite an impressive feat for a Saturday morning cartoon! It made its way to TVs the year before I was born, but it would take another few before it would reach our tubes (we’re always a few years behind the rest of the world :/ ) so I was around four when I was first introduced to it and needless to say, I loved it back then! Michelangelo was initially my fav due to him being my older brothers’ fav and the one they mainly spoke of, but it didn’t take long before my favering gravitated towards Leonardo (even at such a young age) and has been that way ever since. ;) But where exactly does the series stand with me as an adult nowadays with so many other verses we’ve been exposed to? I do hold a lot of nostalgia (as many older do) for it, and I mean, come on, that theme song is ageless, and I even started watching a lot of vids involving the original VAs and the shenanigans they get up to and seriously, it’s so heartwarming and fun to see them! But I have to be honest...

It’s not my fav verse, honestly. I will always adore them, of course, because of the nostalgia and the goofiness... But it’s the latter that’s mostly the reason for it being placed a bit lower on the favoritism ladder. While its a fun watch if you want something lighthearted, I still prefer the idea of the darker undertones that comes with being associated with ninjas. It’s just a preference. Plus, the Turtles designs are big one for me, and I’m sorry to say, but I keep seeing these fellas as more frog-like than turtle, despite the shells. X’D So yeah, no big reasoning for it, and even if someone were to ask me if I like these guys, I’ll still say yes, just that they’re not my ultimate fav is all. ;)

Also, we won’t talk about the Japanese Anime Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend or something to that extent... We’ll just let that one be gently swept under the carpet. ;) Only ever saw the trailer for it and that’s all I’ll ever need to see in my lifetime.

1990 MOVIES TRILOGY~

Now funny enough, I really don’t remember ever seeing these movies as a kid, though it’s possible I did and just maybe blocked the memory, but I highly doubt it... So yeah, I saw these movies as an adult already. The first is praised by most fans, and honestly, I can see why: it’s pretty good! :D The acting is very decent and the humour’s brilliant! The two sequels... not so much but still okay. ;) Where they sit with me... Not too far on the ladder again I’m afraid. :/ While I do really enjoy and appreciate the acting and that humour (”I made a funny.” X’D) it mostly comes down to the Turtles designs again... I really can’t see past them being actors in costumes rather than characters. :’( Granted, good actors. ;) And heck, Jim Henson did a phenomenal job! They’re just not really the movies for me is all, even if I do go back and watch ‘em every now and then. X’D I do however melt every time at the scene in the first movie where Raph wakes up in the bath and Leo’s there and apologizing and all... Makes me all gooey inside! X’D The feels are real! Speaking of Leo, though, he sounds even younger than Mikey. Small nitpick, that, but... why? X’D

But yeah, let’s just say, they’re good movies, just, not my favs.

2003/2k3~

Well it wasn’t already apparent by my avatar... Ladies and gents, I present to you... My fav TMNT verse to date! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this delicious series?! :D Firstly, animation: so appealing, comic book-y style! Their designs: without sounding pervy, veeeeeeeery appealing (hehehehehe), no seriously, they sometimes have a bitta bulk to them but it honestly works, and dem muscles, and the cool eyes! The VAs: spot on! Perfect! Wouldn’t have ‘em any other way! Make me melt, Mr. Michael Sinterniklaas~ (cough) Their personalities: Omgosh, just yes! So perfect! They’re easily differentiated and yet still work together so well. Leo’s mature and level-headed (well, most of the time ;P ) yet still gets tested a lot and even has a fun side that’s shown on occasion. Raph’s grouchy and violent but is shown on more than one occasion that’s he’s total softie and really does care. Don’s just a sweetheart and freakishly smart and even has slips ups from time to time. Mikey... omgosh, best Mikey ever! So much fun! So hilarious! And just a bundle of energy, but not at all an idiot like he’s sometimes portrayed in other verses. He’s witty, mischievous and just so adorable! Heck, even Master Splinter, April, Casey, the lot of them are just awesome in this series! And wow, they really do lean more towards the source material (or so I’m told) when it comes to the plots! It’s darker than the other previous verses yet still remaining kid-friendly (although I question it at times XD) and omgosh, it’s just everything I want in a TMNT universe! Granted, it’s not perfect perfect, but it nailed it for me. ;) It really showed so lovely character developments, alsortsa different genres, the humour will leave you in stitches, the Turts are all just so lovable, I can’t get enough of them! This series was really my high point and I’ve yet to find one that tops it~

Btw, this even includes Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer (BTTS). The former being my least fav of the series simply due to the setting and again, it’s just preference. I even liked BTTS, even though I’m not overly fond of a cyberspace setting, but I found myself really liking the art style and the general plot. :D 

2007/2k7~

As with the last, if you’ve picked up on the page’s header/banner, you’d have probably guessed that the 2007 movie is also a good candidate for one my favs... And you’d be correct. ;) I’m actually very fond of this movie, and it’s largely due to the Turtles designs. I love how they were done! They just look so cool! <3 Subtle differences tell the viewer who’s who even if they didn’t have a mask or weapons. The VAs were also pretty good~ Now, the story isn’t the greatest, I’ll admit. Personally I thought it was okay, but know many fans think otherwise. But I did like the confrontation between Leo and Raph! It got real there, peeps! :O Now here’s also where it falls a little on its face for me: I didn’t really like how they handled Leo’s personality (if you haven’t already picked up on it, yes, I’m a Leo fangirl and I’m picky when it comes to how they handle his personality) but it’s a nitpick again, yet, I still feel compelled to state my opinion: the whole “I’m better than you.” comment really took me back and made me think they pushed it. I honestly like to believe he’d never actually say something like that... at least, 2003!Leo wouldn’t. X’D But that’s just my problem: I’m comparing a different verse’s Leo to this one and whether I like it or not, he said it. :/ Oh well, it still made for some fun action scenes and I’ll still always like the movie.

Bit of a goof on my side: I honestly thought that this movie was made to tie in with the 2003!verse due to the timeline in which it was produced, but turns out, it’s actually closer to the 1990′s timeline although still considered it’s own verse.

2012/2k12~

Oooh boy, lemme prepare for the backlash real quick... I’m uhhhh... not a fan of these boys. :/ I don’t mind them, but I’m honestly never gonna watch the series again. It’s hard to top your fav when you’ve kinda already hit your high point, ya know. Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, hear me out: I will never bash the series, or make fun of anyone who likes it! Or anything to that extent! It’s just wasn’t for me, plain and simple, and it’s got nothing to do with it being ‘new’ or I’m just an old fart stuck in my ways. Heck, If you’re still reading, you would’ve found out that even nostalgia couldn’t beat the series that grasped me in my teens! So no, it has nothing to do with age. But if you do need a reason: I wasn’t overly fond of how they handle the characters. For one, they look and act a bit too young, Mikey is just... wow, something else. Donnie’s... sheesh, pretty snappy and antagonising. Raph’s well... okay, he’s meant to be angry half the time, and they did give him some more layers with Spike and Mona Lisa and whatnot, but he still kinda never learns his lesson if I can say that? He’ll learn that he shouldn’t cause issues with others, yet next episode he’s back at it again. :/ Leo’s... wow, just not like other Leos. X’D Best way I can describe him is... young? Very childlike. And even when he was progressing to becoming this better leader, I honestly couldn’t even see the change. My mind was just stuck on this “He’s a babeh.” notion. Also, I’m not even gonna start on this April and Casey. Just. No. Most of the characters were annoying and I just kept seeing recycled plot after plot. What I did like was the romance that blossomed between Raph and Mona (albeit far too rushed) and even Donnie liking April was adorable (but seriously Donnie, you can do so much better), and there were some really heartfelt moments, like Splinter telling Leo to leo his brothers with his heart and not his head, and the scenes when they were Tots will always make me squeal... But yeah... without leaving any spoilers.... about Splinter... just... thanks, Nickelodeon. Y’all know what I mean. Not once... But twice.... Really? So yeah, look, I realized some of those reasons might even be petty, but again, it’s just not the series for me, but anyone who’s a fan... You keep being a fan! ;) I’m glad you can enjoy something I can’t. ;)

2014/2k14/2016/2k16 AKA BAYVERSE~

HAHA~ Every fan’s favorite... If only. X’D Jokes aside, despite many fans claiming the Bay movies ruined the franchise, these two films gathered a small following... And I’m apart of it. :) Funny enough, I honestly didn’t know what to think of them when the movie first came out. I think I was just taken aback by the sheer amount of detail and all that went into their designs. I didn’t not like them, but again, their designs were a lot to take in. :O Even now after seeing the movies quite a few times over, I find myself constantly discovering something I didn’t notice on them before, be it a strap or a scar etc. And it honestly took some getting use to their sizes, I mean, sheesh! :O Not to mention the different background story, and Megan Fox’s wooden, expressionless acting, but despite all that... I found myself actually growing attached to these hulks of Turtles. They still have a lot of that heart in them and plus they’re just so much fun, I mean, can we say ‘Elevator scene’? X’D Now again, not perfect by anys mean, but still fun and pretty decent incarnations to add to the franchise. Again, Leo’s been given this ‘Better than you’ a bit which irked me to be frank. Not always but it’s there sometimes, but otherwise alright. Raph’s a decent Raph. Even had some tender moments. Donnie’s adorable! X’D This slightly potty mouthed geek that you just gotta love. And Mikey... although given that bitta ‘idiot’ feel, is also just as lovable and you want to hug him every time he’s onscreen! 

In short, I like ‘em. :) They’re actually closer to the top of the ladder than some others.

RISE OF THE TMNT/ROTTMNT/2018/2K18~

Yeeeeeeeeuuuuuuh... no. Sorry. Not for me. :/ Again, gonna remind y’all, nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with change. I will say that the fluid animation is nice, and the fact that they chose 2D animation. :) Buuuuuut, wow, they were certainly a lot to take in. Almost as much as Bay’s Turtles. After watching a few eps, I will conclude that they really just aren’t what I’m looking for. I found that the constant joking, while sometimes funny, got a little bit much, plus such short eps. Raph being leader was a switch and one that took awhile to get use to and honestly, I’m just not for it, I don’t even know where to begin with Donnie, Mikey’s okay, Leo... (deep breath) I don’t know what they were thinking... Let’s not even go to Master Splinter. But anyways, I get that change was what they were going for and that it was more so based on the 1987 toon with the silliness so that’s fine. I’m glad it’s got so many fans. :) And honestly, I wanna end off just by saying...

That no matter what your thoughts on what I’ve said, I hope you can respect my opinions and choices cause at the end of the day, they’re just my own, and I will always respect yours! :D If you adore the verses I’m not too crazy about, that’s great! :D I want you all to love the heck out of them! And honestly, this is what’s so great about this franchise: there are so many verses to choose from! So many options and tastes to suit any and all! You don’t have to follow the masses! You go enjoy whichever incarnation(s) you want to! ;)

My Favorite Turtle Voices. I frequent a TMNT forum called the Technodrome, and a thread on there brought up this question.

Oh boy. This is not an easy topic for me to tackle. I love all (most) of the voices for the ninja turtles. And I like them all separately in a compartmentalized fashion. So I can't really say I have a favorite but I'll do my best. It will be based on the voice I hear in my head when reading the comics or fanfiction. This is a list of my favorite voices, not necessarily my favorite versions of the character, though the voice can add a lot to that choice for me.

Raphael: Greg Abbey. I know he isn't the only Raphael to have the Brooklyn accent but I liked his the most. His voice has a gruffness I don’t think any other Raphael possesses so he stands out. 80′s Raph is an incredibly close second place. But that might just be due to my love for Rob Paulson, I love OT Raphael’s sass and jokes. 

I must give honorable mention to Omar Benson Miller(Rise). Rise Raphael isn't my favorite Raph but he is my favorite character in that show.

Donatello: Rob Paulson and Sam Riegel. I remember being really apprehensive about Rob Paulson voicing Donatello but after the first couple of episodes I was completely sold. Love the sass. I adore Sam Riegel's voice because he makes Donatello sound calm and introspective. My two favorite voices for Donatello are nearly the polar opposites of each other.

This was a tough choice so I made it a tie. So Barry Gordon(1987) is second place lol.

Michelangelo:Townsend Coleman wins easily. Mostly because his voice is the template every Mikey after him followed. But like I said, I adore every Mikey voice, but Coleman's Mikey is the voice I hear the most in my head. Second place goes to both Wayne Grayson(2k3) and Robbie Rist(90s Movies). Robbie Rist is just a cool dude (And I liked him in Naruto). With Wayne Grayson, I was always yelling "I'm the Battle Nexus Champion!!" at my friends when I'd win in Smash Bros. None of them got the joke unfortunately.

Leonardo: Jason Biggs. *dodges rocks* 

Saving the best for last  here. To be honest, I have no problem with Cam Clark or Mike Sinterniklaas but Jason Biggs' performance was the first time I ever saw Leo as more than just "the boring leader one". For the first time Leo had a personality outside of "leader" and I was immediately charmed. It's hard to explain but Biggs' Leo is of course serious and focused on leadership, but in a "boyscout" kind of way. He is such a sweetheart.  For the first time ever, Leonardo was my favorite turtle...for the first two seasons at least.

I give second place to Mike Sinterniklaas(2K3) for doing a better job at voicing a "serious business" version of the character. I'd give second place to James Arnold Taylor (2007 movie) but I'm more used to Sinterniklaas' voice. 

So you can probably guess I was not happy about the voice actor change  for Leonardo in 2k12. If nothing else I would have gladly kept Dominic Catrambone for the rest of the show. He did such a good job as a temporary replacement that I didn't know Biggs was gone until I checked the credits on a wiki. 

Seth Green shot Leo right back down into that generic "I'm the boring leader" zone that I was quite happy to do without. 

So my most controversial opinion is Seth Green's voice is the only voice in all TMNT history I have actively disliked.

So anyway! Third place goes to literally every voice actor I didn't mention on this list. So that includes the 2007 movie, 2014/16 movies, the 90s movies, Rise, and whatever else I can't remember right now.

Saw this and I just had to give my input, I love this idea so much, it really gets me to sit down and think for a minute~

Let's start with...

Leo ~ GOD if I said this man wasn't most women's husband material, I'd be caught in a flat-out lie. Besides his strong leadership and eldest sibling aspects, he can be a very charming and persuasive person, plus his AMAZING looks, (phew, got me sweating over here). I can relate to Leo in a few ways, being the oldest of my siblings and constantly looking out for them, however, I feel like I might be looked down on a bit in the relationship. Not in a mean way, but I come off in a "bimbo" sort of way to a lot of people. I'm a HUGE empath, don't take a lot of things to their full seriousness, and tend to procrastinate. I feel that Leo is looking for someone who takes life seriously, who is close to him in his wiseness just a touch, but also someone who partially relies on dependency so he can take care of them and take a little control, which is something I am NOT. He wants to push to be "my absolute best" but where I'm at is already my best.

He's more of an older brother figure in my eyes, and possibly a best friend, but a relationship between us would make me feel trapped, and him, with a loss of any control.

Donnie ~ Once again, LORD he is beyond attractive and EXTREMELY intelligent, which I find both highly attractive, but also very intimidating. I would nothing more than love to sit and listen to his scientific rambles all day, but it would leave me feeling less than smart afterward. I'm definitely not a witty person, and its once in a Blue Moon that I'm prepared with a good comeback on the spot. Weirdly enough, I feel like I would be... Scared of him? Not in the "legs shaking, oh no he's gonna hurt me" kind of way, but I'm a huge people pleaser, and I feel like just him speaking in a casual conversation would end up in me trying so hard to impress someone who might not even be looking for it. I adore Donnie in every aspect, especially in his sassy attitude that lots of people don't expect and sometimes I can relate to that, but He's book smart, and I'm street smart.

Donnie's definitely a best friend who I can trust with a secret and confide in when I need it most 💜

(For the record, if this were about the 2k12 Donnie, I would date him in a HEARTBEAT, HE IS SUCH A SWEETHEART)

Mikey ~ I think I can relate to Mikey in a lot of ways, like the himbo/bimbo element, the childish antics, and the empathy. Although, I have a bit more wiseness to the world, with a lot of trauma from a young age, and I'm definitely laid back. Mikey is just so amazing, so flirtatious and flat-out adorable. We could get along splendidly, but not really in a romantic relationship kind of way. If I did have a crush on him (which, of course, I do a bit) it would be very short lives, like puppy love, nice while it lasts but gone before you can really catch it. Mikey's great company, though I feel like my social battery would empty very fast around him if I were in an "eh" kinda mood.

He's got strong little brother/BFF energy, and I'm living for every second of it.

I think we all knew where this was going...

Raph~ There's just something spectacular about big red that I can't put my finger on. It's some people's brashness and short temper that makes me want to know them even more, to understand them, to please them. Raph is one of those people. Sure he's a hot head, but you can best your ass he is also one of the softest souls on the planet. I strive to bring out a softness or at least a little vulnerability in people, to build trust and show them there's always gonna be someone to support them. The other boys seem like they might like someone to sort of match their energy, but Raph strives to be or feel "normal". Someone with a happy, not overbearing, carefree sort of energy would be just right for him. He appreciates some sass but not bossiness, that reminds him of Leo a little too much, and he wants to feel independent. Coming home from patrols to me instead of with me would make him feel more comfortable.

So yes, I would 100% date this rascal, he's my dream partner and I love him. I would admittedly date any version of Raphie, but especially Bayverse <33

Which Bayverse turtle would you ACTUALLY date?

Nope. I’m dead ass serious and no, this isn’t one of those quizzes either. This is actually something a bit deeper, something to make you kinda low key look within and actually think about it.

Everyone knows Raphael is my baby, literally my sweetheart. The fucker gets away with murder with just one smirk. Hell I PLAY him. I literally AM HIM. Now, with all that said would I actually be able to have a relationship with Raph? Like an exclusive romantic one? If they were real?!??? HELL. NO.

I said what I said. Hear me out though, Raphael and I are just too much alike. We’d argue constantly. I couldn’t put up with his mood swings and he’s not gonna put up with my attitude. The both of us would do or say shit to really hurt each other’s feelings I just… no. Fucking no. Now as a drinking buddy, Raph is my guy. He’s also my guy I go to when I’m having guy trouble because he will break necks and ask names later. Seriously though, he’d be my best bud but it just wouldn’t work.

Then we have Donnie and don’t get me wrong my first bay crush was Donnie BUTTTTTTT it was strictly a visual thing. I mean my god the man is freaking gorgeous. Like fucking model gorgeous! Ah hum as I was saying Donnie was just a guy I thought was pretty. His intelligence doesn’t impress me and it bores me. That’s just me being honest. Plus he’s way to smart for me. I couldn’t hold a convo if I tried.

Mikey’s exuberance and enthusiasm would low key put me on edge. Being as I’m highly anxious I would have to visit with Mikey in small doses. That still wouldn’t stop me from enjoying his cuteness, just not an overload. Although Mikey would be the best bud to toke up with if he partakes.

Finally there’s Leonardo. The handsome leader in blue has caught my fancy a lot of late for good reason. He could calm these wild storms within me. Not just calm them but help me through them. It’s funny, when you sit back and look at who a person really is, you finally see the why’s and the how's of their world. When I first saw TMNT 2016 I hated Leonardo. Now? Well, let’s just say I know there’s more to the leader than meets the eye. I was foolish to judge him so hastily. I never thought in a million years that Leonardo would be setting the bar for any human man to dare try to jump. So yeah Leo was kinda the underdog that made a huge comeback.

Still in all reality I would be with a Leo. And that used to be something I loathed admitting to. Peculiar how that works out.

So, peeps, who would you really be with, wouldn’t be with and why. Be honest. I’m curious to see what everyone’s answers will be!

Oh she had messed up. She had messed up really bad and now her brother was in trouble and it was all Angel's fault! She should've listened to Casey, she shouldn't have been so dumb! Sprinting to the lair, panicked and guilt on her shoulders, she called out into their home

"Raph! Raph are you 'ere!!"

She's so thankful he is. An Angel without Casey there was already enough to set off a few red flags. Tears brimming young eyes, she does her best to explain everything. The Dragons, how mad Casey was with her, how they argued and fought,

"Now he's missin' an' he's not answering mine or dads phone!" She exclaims, "I think the Dragons 'ave him an' I dunno what to do cause Casey always knew how t' take care of them an' I've been really dumb an' now he's hurt or or even dead cause of me!"

She's convinced this is the case, and with no one else to turn too, she had risked getting caught herself to come to the Turtles,

"Please help me."

Raph was slump back on the couch another Space Heros marathon running so of course Leo was all glued to the screen. Mikey and Don were here as well, eh it was Leo's turn to pick the show. No one could really complain much other than the fact they have all seen this episode before. Raph could quote it even! and maybe has a time or two just because he had the words in his head. Honestly they may have all watched this show once over each just from how often Leo manged to to watch it. Man this show was the worse. Raph thought letting his head fall back as he looked to the entrance of the lair. Begging for anyone to come through them and save him from this. April cause who knows maybe she needed help. One of the might mutanimals even? Preferably his boyfriend. Now he understands why they say to be careful what you wish for.

When Raphael heard the turnstiles he expected to see only one of two humans. Rather that be their friend April coming over for training or whatever or his boyfriend Casey crashing in to hang about at the lair like he been wishing for. When he instead sees Angel though? Well he sort of just tilts his head a little confused by her appearance. Sure see had been here many times before. Heck Mikey instisted she was his little sister and best friend now. Sort of becoming a back up babt sitter. More like a play date if antthing considering how Mikey adored hanging out with her. So Angel being here? Not too weird, but she never came here alone. Worse she had run here easy to tell from how she was panting and had some color to her face. She didn't need to speak Raph knew something wasn't right from the sight alone.

"Raph! Raph are you 'ere!!"

Legs pulled up quick as he twisted around and started to pull himself off from the couch. Making his way over to Angel right away. Dropping down to his knees as he gently sets a hand to her shoulder " 'ight here kid, jus' take a breath." he starts with it easy to tell something had her all worked up, so he's doing his best to keep calm here and not let her own elevated mood affect him. It's not like he wasn't happy to see her, of course he was. He liked Angel, but the situation caused him to go into state of mind telling him something was wrong. "What is it?"

Raph's quick to start checking her over for any cuts or bruises. Casey would kill him if anything hurt her.

Wait a second.

Casey.

Where the fuck was Casey?! Raph's eyes darted back over her shoulder so he could look for Casey there was no way he wouldn't be right on her hells the fact he wasn't here second following Angel? Something's wrong something happened to Casey.

"Angel where is Casey?" He says it in a even tone figuring out why she was crying so hard. If she was here alone Casey had to be in trouble. She tries her best to explain despite the tears. Raph got at least the parts that matter from all the noise. Angel got tangled up with the Purple Dragons, oh great. That alone would have been enough for Raph to start forming an idea on what was going on. Casey was protective of her and he hated the Purple Dragons so Angel having any ties with them? Of course that would lead to a fight between them. Angel may be Casey's loving little sister but well Raph can kind of understand Angel's side here considering things with Leo and himself after all. Casey could helicopter and he was sure that could be annoying at times for her. But damn kid the dragons? He didn't voice it. Clearly she heard enough about it already, besides it wasn't important in this moment.

Raph's attetion shifted back to Angel. Large sad eyes still brimming with tears. She was letting her guilt ear at her. Casey was likely in a world of hurt and to her? She might as well be the one to dealt it. Raph just offered her a smile as he took hold of both her shoulders now.

"Since when do ya need ta ask me anything Angel?" He tells her " besides Case ain't the only one 'hat knows how ta deal wit' some lame brain dragons. " After all dragon hunting was one of his and Casey's favorite things to do when they went out to hit the streets together. Softly golding her fave up as he wipes his thumbs slowly and gently just under her eyes. "No need for these either kid, we don' know of he hurt yet right? Gotta be tough for your brother okay?" Trying to redirect her emotions to focuse on her brother instead. "And don' worry I'll kick his butt twice as hard fir makin' ya cry okay?"

Moving arms to take hold of her, you might think in a hug, but no, he moved to lofted her up off her feet and near threw her around to his shell. "Hold on to my neck, Kay kid?" He instructs her to do as he moves to stand up, surrpoting her by holding his arms back behind himself.

"Luckily for ya dumbass brother. I 'ike dishing out payback." He tells her as he looks back over his shoulder to her. And taking off soon after feet poured hard against the ground as he turned the corner sharp and kept going. "Gonna need ya to help, though." He's pretty sure he hears footsteps following behind, but he doesn't care at the same time as he goes to the first man hole cover he knows is nearby.

Casey please be okay.

Is all Raphael could think once they broke free from the underground and started heading to China Town where the dragons main hideout was. It was likely the best place to look considering Casey was gonna be a main target of thiers. Oh, he was in for an earfull for one. He told Angel they couldn't worry about what they didn't know, but that was just to clam her down Raphael's anextiy was causing inky the worse sernarios to be pictured in his mind on what they would do to Casey. Gritti g his teeth hard against each other if they lay a single finger on him he'll break an arm, any marks on him, he'll do worse. A single hair out of place? Hell to pay.

One of the thing I wasn’t a fan of, like at all, on a scale out of 10, my dislike of it was a -0, in the 2k12 series was Leo, Raph and Donnie’s treatment towards Mikey. They treated him like dirt and I wasn’t there for it and I hated it so damn much.

But the other thing I didn’t like was the lack of Splinter and Mikey interactions. Like I don’t even think there was none without any comedy banter. Like they didn’t have one decent conversation together in the whole series. And when Splinter died and Mikey called him “Papa” killed me and still does I often think why? They never talked, Splinter never really helped Mikey with a problem. They weren’t ever close like Splinter was with Leo or even Raph. And then to further that confusion they decided to have Mikey joke around in the next episode, like I get that he was the comic relief but I was expecting Mikey to completely shut down, like any child would after losing their parent. Because that would have been such a shock. The usually chatty and talking Mikey stunned to silence and grief over his father’s death.

So seeing this scene from Rise makes me extremely happy. When I look at this scene and I look back at scene from Splinter’s death. And when I envision Rise!Mikey calling Splinter “Papa.” I can believe it more. If Rise!Splinter had died I know Mikey would have shut down, for 100% sure. Cause you can tell from this scene alone how much Mikey adores his dad, and how much Splinter does in return.

Hell a similar situation happened in the 2k3 series twice and Mikey was serious, in that. He took moments to be quiet and moments to dish out comedy in order to stay the optimistic turtle. Even that was more believable then what the 2k12 tried to do.
