okay, okay, superhero au concept of the day: soup group identity shenanigans au. the soup group all rent a house together, they became friends... i don't know when, still figuring this out, but they're all buddies. however, they're all involved in the hero scene in their own way, and everyone's levels of knowing how involved in the hero scene they are is varied.
impulse is a relatively new hero (name pending), after an accident at his desk job somehow left him with electricity-based powers. he's kind of awkward and new at the whole gig, but he is determined to do his best! he is keeping his identity secret to keep what he thinks are his two civilian housemates safe, as well as to keep his other friends safe. he's a bit over his head but he mostly fights low-level villains at the moment anyway. he knows the least information of everybody but he's ALSO the most likely to have a crisis if he learns anything about his housemates.
pearl is a vigilante known as the cleaning lady. she's not so much an active combatant most of the time as someone who takes advantage of existing fights and crime scenes for her own ends, helping to make sure she puts down criminals and collects information from the aftermath. she'll help either side in order to meet her goal of cleaning up the city from the chaos it's currently in, and she dislikes most serious crime, she just... goes about it in a way most heroes do not agree with. she's figured out impulse's identity and avoids him in her night work because she's certain he'd clock her immediately. as for the red deer... she's worked with her once or twice and is kind of terrified, but doesn't know her identity at all.
gem is the soup group's mysteriously rich friend who is the one helping them rent the house together. really it would be suspicious she was renting with the kind of money her job makes and how much she can afford with what she supposedly actually makes if both pearl and impulse weren't so busy hiding their identities. and gem's glad! she's excited to have friends she can play civilian with--that doesn't normally last this long! because gem is the terrifying mercenary and hitman for hire, the red deer. compared to both impulse and pearl (who are normally considered small-time), gem is considered a "if you are not specifically pseudo-hawk, do not engage" level threat. she's particularly known for, if her job is to take down someone interesting, handing them a weapon and letting them have a "fair fight" back. only pseudo-hawk (real name false symmetry) has held her off before. the rest of her targets go home in body bags, and she gets her money. she rarely actually kills someone who ISN'T a target, but she still hurts them enough to keep them out of the way if they try to interfere.
and gem... gem knows EXACTLY who her housemates are. she's keeping an eye on the chatter about them, too. right now, no one who wants their head is offering the kind of money the red deer is worth, of course, so she doesn't have to worry. her status as one of the most dangerous villains in the city remains safe, and she can have her civilian friends, especially since she's pretty sure they don't know who she is! but if any of that falls apart. if they find her identity. if impulse manages to piss off an actually powerful villain, or pearl finally steps on the toes of a gang that can do something about her... well. well. gem... doesn't miss a target. and it would be fun! it would be... something, at least. she's starting to not be sure what she'd do, and that's... dangerous, in her line of work.
but the thing is, it's nice sharing a house, the three of them. surely, the weight of everyone's respective secrets and allegiances won't collapse around them!
...right?

Billy Batson related question, as always! How do you think the League would react to Black Adam knowing who the Captain is, especially when they don’t even know? (The relationship between Billy and Teth doesn’t matter, they could be allies or enemies).
Billy Batson related questions are my personal favorites!
The idea of the Justice League not knowing who Captain Marvel's secret identity is always makes me giggle :D it's the layer of mystery and unknown danger that presents itself behind not knowing who the Big Red Cheese is that keeps them on edge sometimes. They admire their friend, but sometimes they do wonder, are they his friend? What is he? An alien? A human? A monster beneath the disguise of a man? Three kobolds in a trenchcoat? Nobody knows... They do wish to get to know their friend better.
Normally, most league members have their secret identities kept, you know, a secret. With the exception that Batman knows, of course. However, even he remains stumped on this mystery. He doesn't enjoy not knowing who Captain Marvel is behind the boy scout smile he often shines, but Batman is determined to find out one day. There's almost some respect for how well the Captain manages to hide his identity and tracks.
Meanwhile, Billy is surprised he's lasted this long with a secret identity. He's working with a braincell, half an oreo cookie, and a dream.
I got sidetracked, ack! Okay, so the relationship (depending on which version of Captain Marvel and Black Adam you are familiar with) is almost always going to be personal. There's their shared relationship with the wizard Shazam, but the one I'm most familiar with and enjoy is Black Adam being the one to have killed Billy's parents. (Also, I appreciate you separating the identity of Black Adam and Teth!)
It would be absolutely amazing and gutwrenching to see Captain Marvel shake hands with a "reformed" Black Adam, possibly during a public setting with the JL in attendance, fully knowing the truth behind his parents murders and still going through with the painful decision to let him go unpunished.
For Billy, this hurts. On a deep level that scars his heart and soul for allowing his parents deaths to go unavenged. For the years of pain, he spent alone on the streets homeless and separated from his twin sister, none of it can be fully healed no matter how hard he tries to forget. Scars fade over time, but to Billy, time is eternity. This pain will follow him for eternity.
However, as Captain Marvel, he understands that there's more to the situation that he can't control, and fighting Black Adam would only make things worse. With the wisdom of Solomon, he knows he can't justify a fight against the ruler of a nation, no matter what. So he just smiles for the camera and shakes the hand of the man who orphaned him.
It is through holding Black Adam's hand that the thought passes through his mind: the hand he's holding right now was once stained with the blood of his parents.
Then, the heroes are given a moment of privacy to be around each other without the public's eyes or ears to interfere, and that's when **** hits the fan.
Captain Marvel is avoiding Black Adam, understandably, but when Black Adam loudly calls out his name among the other heroes, Billy can't help but feel rage boil inside his divine blood.
"William. I thought you knew better than to ignore others when they're trying to talk to you. Such rudeness, I am most glad your parents were not the ones to raise such behavior in you."
Whispers among the league ensues. Was that the Captain's name? Did Black Adam know Captain Marvel on a personal level rather than just a regular hero and nemesis level? Despite the eyes watching them, waiting and prepared to step in case of a fight, the Captain grits his teeth and, through miserable eyes of a broken man, chooses to smile.
"Yeah, they really were good people, Adam. I may not live up to their expectations, but I do live for them. Every day. I suppose I have you to thank for that."
"Your gratitude is most welcome, William. May one day come where you live for Mary and Frederick, as well. They would appreciate you honoring them."
Through a wicked smile, Black Adam chuckles, turning his back to take his leave back to Khandak. Leaving Captain Marvel still smiling all alone, his fists at his side curled with rage, drawing his own divine blood from the intensity of his own strength.
After that, the league would be in all rumors and whispers about Captain Marvel. From the past, they knew that Black Adam was fond of taunting the Captain with strange and mean words during their harrowing battles, but had it all been a personal dig at him all this time? Did Black Adam have a hand in accidentally giving Captain Marvel the motivation to become a hero?
Superheroes like Batman would immediately be looking into any information they learned from this and try to decipher what is the truth behind the Captain. Or should he say, "William," now having a name to the face of the hero of Fawcett. He would also be investigating Black Adam far more closely now, should the reformed man ever step out of line. If he heard right and Black Adam had indeed killed the Captain's parents, then he needed to keep an eye on Captain Marvel, too. In case of a breakdown or instability in emotions.
On the other hand, heroes like the Flash and Superman would take the time to visit the Captain in his city and check on him. They'd be concerned after seeing how pained Captain Marvel was. If a villain like Black Adam knew who the Captain was and specifically chose not to reveal his true identity to the public and just the Justice League, then perhaps there was more to it. Superman knew as well how painful it was to let a guilty man go free because he was deemed "reformed" in the eyes of the public (Lex Luthor, ew).
Overall, there would be a whole range of emotions after finding out Black Adam knows who Captain Marvel is. And I am here for it!

Chapter 6 --- Chapter 7
Tumblr media
The tension in King’s Landing was mounting.
You could feel the shift in the air every time you walked through the castle’s halls. Eyes lingered on you for just a moment too long, hushed whispers followed your movements, and the weight of suspicion grew heavier with each passing day. The silent game of intrigue you had started was becoming more dangerous than you ever anticipated.
Daemon’s words haunted you. Secrets don’t stay hidden forever, Y/N.
He had known. Or at least, suspected. And Rhaenyra—there was no doubt in your mind that she had already started connecting the dots. The princess had become colder in your presence, her once friendly demeanor replaced by something much more calculating.
You had managed to keep your secrets for this long, but how much longer could you maintain the facade?
You sat in the dim light of your chambers, a piece of parchment laid before you. The next warning was written carefully, the ink still drying as you watched the words you had
crafted to change the course of history. Each note you left was like a ripple in the timeline, spreading outward and impacting events in ways you could never fully control.
The next message was vital—one that would steer Rhaenyra’s decisions in a crucial way, altering the fragile balance of power.
But this time, you hesitated.
The previous close encounters with both Rhaenyra and Daemon had shaken you more than you cared to admit. Your heart still pounded at the memory of Daemon’s smirk, his quiet threat, and Rhaenyra’s piercing gaze as she subtly questioned your every move. One wrong step, and it could all come crashing down.
Yet you couldn’t stop. Too much was at stake now. You had already planted the seeds, and now they had to be watered. Carefully, delicately, you folded the note, preparing to deliver it when the time was right.
You hadn’t seen Daemon in the last few days, and part of you had hoped that perhaps his interest had waned. But when you least expected it, he made his presence known.
It was late in the evening when you found yourself outside in the garden courtyard, seeking solace in the cool night air. The stars above twinkled faintly, and the quiet hum of the distant city offered a rare sense of peace.
“Out enjoying the evening, are we?” a familiar voice drawled from behind you.
Your pulse quickened, but you forced yourself to remain calm as you turned to see Daemon standing just a few paces away, his usual smirk plastered across his face.
“I needed some air,” you replied evenly, your heart racing despite your calm tone.
Daemon stepped closer, his hands casually resting at his sides, though you could feel the tension radiating from him. He studied you for a long moment, his gaze sharp and probing.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said, his voice low and dangerously smooth, “about you.”
You swallowed, your throat suddenly dry. “About me, my lord?”
Daemon took another step closer, his eyes never leaving yours. “You’re quite the enigma, aren’t you? Appearing out of nowhere, earning the favor of the princess, slipping through the cracks like a shadow.”
Your mind raced, searching for a response that would divert his attention without raising further suspicion. “I serve the realm, as any loyal subject should,” you said carefully, avoiding his direct challenge.
His smirk deepened. “Do you, though?”
Before you could reply, Daemon leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Everyone here has a role to play. I wonder—what’s yours?”
You forced yourself to hold his gaze, even though every instinct screamed at you to run. Daemon was no fool. He was testing you, pushing your limits to see how far he could go before you broke.
But you couldn’t break. Not now.
“I am but a healer, my lord,” you said softly, your voice steady despite the pounding of your heart. “Nothing more.”
Daemon’s eyes narrowed slightly, and for a moment, you thought he might press further. But then, just as quickly as the tension had risen, it dissipated. He straightened, his smirk returning to its usual playful expression.
“We’ll see,” he said cryptically before turning and walking away, leaving you standing there in the dark garden, your heart still racing from the encounter.
You had passed his test this time, but how much longer could you keep this up?
The following morning, the air in the castle was buzzing with anticipation. A high-ranking visitor had arrived at court, though the details were being kept under wraps. You could hear the servants whispering about it in the corridors, speculating on who it could be and what their business might entail.
You knew better than to ask questions openly, but your curiosity burned all the same. The arrival of someone important always shifted the balance of power in subtle ways, and you couldn’t afford to be caught off guard.
As the day wore on, you noticed the increased activity within the Red Keep. Servants rushed about, preparing for what you assumed would be a private meeting between the royal family and their guest. It was clear that whatever business was being conducted, it was meant to stay behind closed doors.
But then, by sheer chance, you overheard a conversation between two courtiers that set your mind spinning.
“It is him, isn’t it?” one of the courtiers whispered, glancing around nervously.
The other nodded, lowering their voice. “Yes. The Prince of Dorne.”
Your heart skipped a beat. The Prince of Dorne? Here?
You couldn’t help but feel a spark of intrigue. The presence of Dorne in King’s Landing meant there were discussions of alliances—or, worse yet, potential conflict. This was information that could change everything if used wisely.
And it was information that Rhaenyra needed to know. But how?
The weight of the folded parchment felt heavier in your hands than ever before as you made your way through the shadowy corridors of the Red Keep. You had to be even more careful now, knowing that Daemon’s eyes were on you and Rhaenyra’s suspicions had grown.
The Prince of Dorne’s arrival was significant. You couldn’t ignore it. But you also couldn’t deliver the note in the usual place—not after your recent encounters. You needed to be smarter, more careful.
You made your way to the hidden alcove in a part of the Keep that was seldom used. The old stone walls loomed around you, the only sound the soft echo of your footsteps. You checked your surroundings carefully, ensuring that no one had followed you.
After what felt like an eternity of waiting in the silence, you slipped the folded note into the small crevice in the stone. It was a new hiding spot—one you had discovered by chance—but it was discreet enough that only someone who knew where to look would ever find it.
You took a deep breath, feeling the tension in your shoulders ease slightly. The warning was delivered. Now, all you could do was wait and hope that it reached the right hands.
But as you turned to leave, a flicker of movement in the shadows caught your eye.
You froze, your heart leaping into your throat.
Someone had been watching you.
You could feel the blood drain from your face as you stood there, paralyzed with fear. For a moment, the world seemed to stand still as you tried to process what had just happened. Someone had been following you. But who?
Had Daemon sent someone to spy on you? Had Rhaenyra finally figured out that you were the one leaving the notes?
Your mind raced, but there was no time to think. You had to move—now.
Without looking back, you quickly made your way down the corridor, your footsteps soft but swift. You couldn’t let them catch you. You couldn’t let them know that you had seen them. Whoever it was, they had been careful, staying in the shadows, watching from a distance. But their presence had been undeniable.
You didn’t stop until you reached the safety of your chambers, your heart still pounding in your chest. Whoever was following you knew something—and that knowledge could be your undoing.
You were running out of time. The game of shadows and secrets had just become much more dangerous.

Secrets Lost by ArtemisMoore :
(Currently being edited) Danny knew that someday, somehow that something like this would happen. Now, of course, he and his friends had been preparing for this day since the first Ghost Attack on Amity Park. They had bags packed, emergency supplies stashed around Amity Park and surrounding cities, emergency funds, and safe houses. They had plans, preparations, and procedures that all of “Team Phantom” had memorized. Even Valery, who had only been a part of “Team Phantom” for a week and still didn’t know his identity! But none of them could have imagined that “Operation Friend or Foe” would happen like this. When all of their preparations were hundreds of miles away, supplies were out of reach, and where all of his friends and allies couldn't help him. They had no idea… that everything would go this wrong. Word Count: 103,445 Completed

Tim is the only one consistently watching. Thus he’s the first and only one to notice one more body following the streets like the bats do. A kid with all black hair and white motifs and an attitude problem that reminds him a tad too much of Jason. It was a shame Jason was adamant that he “didn’t know anything”, what a liar right?
But the streets of Gotham listened and the name on everyone’s lips playing like a discordant harmony was one word: Distortion. Not that Tim knew what it meant yet, but Danny would make sure he would. If Danny lived long enough for Tim to find out.

Wanted: Dead and Alive by Astereae :
“Hey, I do I... He can see the shine and shadow of haphazard stitches that weren’t meant to hold forever, that tore and healed over. His- This- “WHAT!?” Nightwing shouts, equal parts confused and delighted. Tim’s fucked. OR Danny Fenton's been in GIW captivity for 4 months. Tim Drake gets kidnapped by the GIW one Tuesday evening in May. close enough to be whole again by hailsatancab :
“If you ever find yourself in danger, go to Bruce Wayne. He will help you.” His mother had loved him, in her own way. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have helped him escape. If she hadn’t, she would have dragged him back to the League of Assassins, to Grandfather. If she hadn’t, he’d be dead. She loved him, but she loved the League more. Jack and Maddie Fenton loved him too, they did, but they loved their work more. They loved their work more. -- After his parents react poorly to his reveal, Danny escapes to the only person he thinks can help him - Bruce Wayne. He doesn't know what to expect when he gets there, but it has to be better than where he is, surely? He certainly doesn't expect to be reunited with his long lost twin brother Damian. It's funny how things work out that way. Danny is 16 years old, not Phantom Planet compliant Word Count: 117,934 On-going
Imprint by Hashtag_DriveBy :
He screwed his eyes shut, held his breath, desperately wished that he was back in his safehouse, alone and blissfully unaware. But the weight in his hands remained, and when he opened his eyes, it was to the bean-shaped 'fuck you' the Lazarus Pit had kindly bestowed upon him, arms and legs folded up against his front beneath off-white muslin while tiny lips smacked softly.
What the fuck.
What the hell was Jason supposed to do now?
Word Count: 119,791 On-going

Now all they have to do is persuade Bruce that Jason having new friends hasn’t hailed the apocalypse. Word Count: 275,002 On-going
Bus to Nowhere by foldingfacets :
Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom. After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition. Word Count: 108,870 On-going
Some Kind of Miraculous Bind by Saitrised :
Damian Wayne is the heir to the Bat, the Blood Son. Except, he wasn't always the only blood son. There was another, younger heir once, before Damian had left the league and his brother hadn't had the chance to join him. There was one alive heir to the Bat, and a second one, secret to all but him, that was gone. Danny Fenton is already tired of being the Ghost King. Not even six months into his reign, and he's having to deal with ectoplasmic leaking past Amity's borders and new, unknown threats against his people. And the fact that Gotham, the one city that he had mentally marked as off limits, seems to be where most of the problems are isn't helping. ---This is an upload of a heavily edited version of the previously posted chapter 14--- Word Count: 126,392 On-going
schrodinger's cat by Meetalotaku :
My extrapolated story from I'm building off flamingpuddings post on Tumblr. What if Selina Kyle was Danny bio mom. That she had with Batman. And she put him up for adoption to her distance relatives the fentons. I've also taken the liberty to set the phantom time line up a few years earlier. Danny had his accident in Jr high. At 11 in 6th grade. He meets Selina at not yet 14 teen. A ton of DC characters will make appearances eventually. But it's going to focus heavily on Gotham based characters first. And slowly sprinkle in more phantom characters and other dc characters from all media forms messed together. Word Count: 145,780 On-going
Wayne's Haunted Mansion by Tathartiel :
Something is wrong. Bruce notices it when he's not alone, but he feels like he is being watched. The bad part? He feels it both as Bruce Wayne and as Batman. Who is watching him? He's determined to find out. He regrets it when finds out that there is another child in his home, but one who is in desperate need of help. Word Count: 121,923 On-going
The Adventures of Big Talon and Little Talon. by Ispotteddumuss :
“Beware the Court of Owls, that watches all the time, ruling Gotham from a shadowy perch, behind granite and lime. They watch you at your health, they watch you in your bed, speak not a whispered word of them or they'll send the Talon for your head.” Jason would like a one Talon please. No, not the Other Talon. He wants the Little Talon. The one with yellow green eyes. The short one. You know the one that chirps. No, he's not turning into his Father, he swears. Little Talon doesn't know what he wants but he knows this new Big Talon is good. (It takes a bit to get to Big Talon and Little Talon part. It starts mostly just Little Talon. Like a while. We got there though but takes a bit.) Word Count: 167,257 On-going
Artificial Wingman by TheSleepyKitsune :

If you Give a Bat a Burger by Cielle_Noire :
Strange things are going on in Gotham: A series of crimes linked only by a sentence uttered. A drug that no one seems to be selling, but lots of people are taking. In love with your alter ego
Wally west x reader
Tumblr media
Sumarry-
In a bustling burger joint, Wally West unknowingly gushes to his crush about his admiration for the hero Eclipse. Little does he know, Eclipse is actually his teammate, who struggles to reveal her true identity. A heated battle forces her mask off, revealing her secret to Wally. Amidst confusion and vulnerability, they confront their feelings, leading to a deeper connection and a promising future together as both heroes and lovers.
---------------------------------------------------
Wally West sat across from you at the familiar booth in Big Belly Burger, his eyes alight with excitement as he animatedly recounted his latest encounter with the mysterious new hero, Eclipse. He was practically glowing with enthusiasm, his usual speedster energy barely contained. You listened intently, trying to maintain a neutral expression, even as your heart raced. It wasn't every day you got to hear your crush ramble on about... well, you.
"I mean, you should have seen them!" Wally exclaimed, his burger momentarily forgotten on the tray in front of him. "They took down five of Count Vertigo's goons like it was nothing! I barely had to lift a finger. And the way they moved—so smooth, so precise. I mean, Eclipse is amazing!"
You hid a smile behind your drink, taking a long sip to buy yourself a moment. It was surreal, hearing Wally gush about your alter ego without knowing it was you beneath the mask. Since joining Young Justice, you'd managed to keep your dual identity a secret from your teammates, Wally included. But it was getting harder and harder, especially with how much Wally admired Eclipse.
"Sounds like they really made an impression on you," you said, trying to sound casual.
"Are you kidding? Eclipse is the coolest new hero around," Wally continued, leaning in closer. "And, okay, I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but I think I'm starting to have a bit of a crush on them."
Your heart skipped a beat, and you nearly choked on your drink. Wally West, the boy you'd been harbouring feelings for since joining the team, had a crush on you. Well, on Eclipse. Same thing, right?
"Really?" you managed to say, your voice a touch higher than usual. "A crush?"
Wally laughed, running a hand through his unruly red hair. "Yeah, I know it's silly. I mean, I don't even know who they are. But there's just something about them, you know? They're brave, strong, and they have this aura of mystery. It's kinda intoxicating."
You smiled weakly, unsure how to feel. It was flattering, of course, but also frustrating. Wally liked you, but not the you he knew. He liked the mask, the persona, the hero. Not the everyday person who sat across from him, sharing burgers and banter.
Over the next few weeks, Wally's infatuation with Eclipse only grew. He talked about you constantly, recounting every mission, every fight, every shared moment. And you listened, torn between wanting to reveal the truth and fearing what might happen if you did. What if he was disappointed? What if he didn't like the real you?
It all came to a head one night during a particularly intense mission. The team was up against an unusually large contingent of villains, and things were not going well. You and Wally had been separated from the others, forced to fight back-to-back as wave after wave of enemies closed in.
"Hang on, Eclipse!" Wally shouted, his voice strained with effort. "We can do this!"
You nodded, gritting your teeth as you blasted another thug with a burst of energy. But there were too many, and even with Wally's speed, you were being overwhelmed.
"We need to regroup with the others!" you yelled over the din of battle.
"Agreed! On three!" Wally's hand found yours, a comforting anchor in the chaos. "One, two—"
Before he could finish, a powerful blow knocked you off your feet, sending you sprawling. Your mask slipped, and in the frantic moment of trying to recover, it fell off completely.
You scrambled to grab it, but it was too late. Wally's eyes widened as he stared at you, realization dawning on his face.
"Y/N?" he breathed, disbelief colouring his voice.
You winced, caught between fighting off attackers and facing Wally's shock. "Wally, I—"
He didn't let you finish. With a speed that left your head spinning, Wally dispatched the remaining enemies, then turned to you, his expression a mix of hurt and confusion.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he demanded, his voice cracking.
"I wanted to, but I was scared," you admitted, your own voice shaking. "I didn't know how you'd react."
Wally took a deep breath, his eyes searching yours. "You should have trusted me."
"I do trust you," you said, stepping closer. "But I was afraid. Afraid that you wouldn't like the real me."
He shook his head, a small, incredulous smile tugging at his lips. "How could I not like the real you? You're amazing, Y/N. Both as Eclipse and as yourself."
You felt tears prickling at the corners of your eyes. "You really mean that?"
Wally's smile widened, his usual cocky confidence returning. "Yeah, I do. And hey, I guess this means I had a crush on you all along."
You laughed, a sound of relief and joy. "Yeah, I guess it does."
Before you could say anything else, Wally pulled you into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around you with surprising gentleness. You hugged him back, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders.
When you finally pulled away, Wally's eyes were sparkling with mischief. "So, since you're Eclipse, does that mean we get to team up more often?"
You grinned, wiping away the last of your tears. "Count on it, West."
As the two of you rejoined the team, you felt a newfound sense of freedom. The secret was out, and it hadn't destroyed anything. If anything, it had brought you and Wally closer. And as you fought side by side, you knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, you'd face them together.
Days turned into weeks, and your relationship with Wally blossomed. He teased you relentlessly about keeping your identity hidden for so long, but he also respected your reasons. The trust between you deepened, and you found yourself falling for him even more deeply than before.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and cast a warm glow over Mount Justice, you found yourself alone with Wally on a rooftop. The others had retired for the night, leaving the two of you to enjoy a rare moment of peace.
"I still can't believe you're Eclipse," Wally said, his voice soft with wonder. He stood beside you, leaning against the ledge and gazing out at the city below. "I mean, it's like a dream come true."
You chuckled softly, leaning closer to him. "I'm glad you think so."
He turned to look at you, his eyes earnest. "No, seriously. You're incredible, Y/N. You're not just an amazing hero, but you're also... well, you."
Your heart fluttered at his words, warmth spreading through you like sunlight. "Thank you, Wally. That means a lot."
He smiled, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair from your face. "I mean it. And I... I really like you, Y/N. Like, a lot."
You met his gaze, your breath catching in your throat. "I like you too, Wally. More than I can say."
He grinned, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Good. Because I was hoping... maybe we could make this official? You know, you and me?"
Your heart soared, and you couldn't stop the smile that spread across your face. "I'd love that, Wally. I'd love that more than anything."
In the quiet moments that followed, Wally pulled you into his arms, holding you close as if he never wanted to let go. And as you stood together, watching the stars twinkle overhead, you knew that this was just the beginning of your journey together.
As partners, as teammates, and now as something more, you and Wally faced the future with hope and courage. And no matter what challenges lay ahead, you knew that as long as you were together, you could weather any storm.
Because when lightning and shadow intertwined, they created something beautiful and strong—something that could illuminate the darkest of nights and bring hope to a world in need.
And so, under the starlit sky, you embraced your destiny with open arms, ready to write the next chapter of your story—side by side, heart to heart, with the boy who had captured both your heart and your hero's soul.

Reverse Robins AU but the adoption order stays the same
Bruce had been Batman for around 2 decades when he witnessed the Graysons fall. He takes in little 8-year-old Dick Grayson and they become Batman & Robin a couple of months later.
Jason still tried to steal the Batmobile’s tires, but this time Dick is there with Bruce. And Dick immediately goes: friend?! Because who’s cooler than an older boy who has the audacity to steal your dad’s crime-fighting tires? Bruce doesn’t immediately take him in but he does adopt him soon after nonetheless. A year later, Batman gains a new sidekick partner.
Tim still puts together the Bats’ IDs by recognizing Robin’s quadruple somersault. He keeps this info to himself but his father’s death breaks something in him and he becomes reckless and directionless. He’s saved by one of the Bats, maybe little 11 year old Robin, and he just blurts out his name. He tells him how he was at the Graysons’ last show, how he and his parents were such huge fans. Bruce shows up but it’s too late, Dick’s already attached to his new big brother.
This teenager is obviously a threat, he knows their secret identities, but Bruce can see a bit of himself in the lost young man in front of him. He’s around the same age he was when he made the choice that changed his life forever. And having two young boys in his life, two young heroes, he can’t help but want to help Tim. It doesn’t hurt that the kid’s obviously smart and in good shape. A year later, Batman gains another partner.
Damian was never sent to Bruce, he stayed with the League. Eventually, he and Talia killed Ra’s. He becomes Talia’s right-hand but he doesn’t want it. He’s so disinterested in his own life and Talia, for all her flaws, loves her son. She tells him to leave, to “find himself or whatever it is young people do” and so Damian does. He leaves Nanda Parbat at ~18 and travels.
Damian has many skills, but he feels he’s best at killing people, so it doesn’t take long for him to take up contracts. Traveling’s fun and all but he grew restless. He does this for years, he makes a name for himself outside of being an Al’Ghul. And he’s visited Gotham, of course he has, but he doesn’t long for Bruce’s approval. He isn’t a child, he isn’t good person, and he isn’t a Wayne. Bruce means nothing to him, not really he doesn’t think Bruce would ever want him.
So, he keeps an ear out for news regarding the Bats. He visits Gotham every time he learns of a new child but he never allows himself to be noticed. One day, he hears whispers of the Wayne children being in Ethiopia of all places and he can’t help but seek them out. He gets there in time to put the Joker down permanently and prevent any lasting damage to any of them. They’re all taken by this mysterious savior to varying degrees (Tim’s the most cautious), but Dick is especially enthusiastic.
They manage to distract Damian long time enough for Bruce to get there. The long await meeting occurs and Damian decides fuck it, might as well let his father know about him. Bruce has more than enough children to fuss over and he’s an adult with his own life completely separate from Bruce, no need to make a big deal out of it. It is a big deal and Bruce is in shock and infuriated and heartbroken about his very much adult son being kept from him all this time.
As much as Bruce begs, Damian doesn’t go back to Gotham with them. Regardless, he keeps up his occasional visits and stays out of sight. Surprisingly, or maybe not, Dick is the first to find him out. And Dick, amazing human bean that he is, grows on Damian with time and interactions. He’s impressed by this child his father took in and he can’t help but want to teach him a few moves. Bruce wasn’t as oblivious to these meetings as he made himself seem, but he knows Damian isn’t interested in Bruce being his father. He’s hoping he can bridge this gap between them with Dick.
It works.

Since yall seem to like my other AUs/headcanons, I've decided to rant a bit about my 'main' one :3 (kept vague to avoid spoilers)
Small summary: (more indepth rant below)
it's a villan & hero hermitcraft / life series / empires au, focused on bad boys (at least during the first arc). Joel creates a bar as a cover for a fighting ring/information selling business, joined by pearl effo gem grian and jimmy. Grian refuses to participate in the criminal activities at first, but doesn't rat them out either. (inspired by his resisting the resistance thing in s9)
However, as u can probably guess, this doesn't last long and he slowly gets more n more involved, especially once random people mysteriously start getting "the red curse", which he recognizes from his past... (hehe watcher lore) Grian continues to pretend to stay uninvolved while trying to keep the Watchers at bay behind the scenes, even going as far as creating multiple alter egos / secret identities in order to hide his involvement.... (poultry man, cute guy, mother spore,...) Sadly, the Watchers think identity reveals are incredibly amusing and make it their mission to reveal Grians secrets... :)
Now, lil poll bc i wanna know yalls preference:
Im not a very experienced writer, so I can't guarantee the fics would be any good- while i def prefer comics, it would take a long ass time and I'm not sure whether its a good idea since i tend to loose interest in projects p fast wkdhakdj
Still debating what to name it, I think ill call it "Web of lies", "Wolau" for short LMFAO. Im not very good at naming things 😭 suggestions are welcome!!!
Some more background info:
Joel is a fairly new villain who has decided to start a business focused on fighting rings, selling information and just generally doing criminal stuff. (inspired by his secret fighting club in s10). He hires Gem and jimmy, two ex-vigilantes who became a bit more... Villainous. Their cover is a normal bar, which ofc means they also need normal employees who won't snitch. Jimmy suggests Grian toJoel, since he's a retired informant. He basically started out as an investigative journalist in another city, but got more n more involved with both villains and heroes (which is how he knows jimmy) before joining a cult (watcher lore watcher lore watcher lore-) and suddenly dissappearing.
Although he went missing a few years ago, they manage to track him down. He joins, but tells them he's not involved in the world of villains anymore and that he wants to stay out of everything (so hes basically working in the bar that they use as a cover as a 'normal' employee and turns a blind eye to anything criminal going on)
That's kind of the start of the story? Afterwards, Pearl, a villain who used to be a vigilante that worked with Scott (<-number one hero), then got betrayed by him and is now plotting his murder, joins in. Later on etho joins, who is originally sent by the hermits as a spy (<- p big villain&vigilante alliance in the city) but ends up deciding to side w/ them. (BOAT BOYS BOAT BOYS BOAT BOYS-)
(pearl & Scott's conflict is ofc a double life ref and etho is a mycelium resistance ref, he also ends up finding out about some of grians secrets and helping him behind the scenes)
Although its focused on the members of the bar, later on it focuses more on other hermits (since they get more involved w/ the villain group "hermits" which most of the hermits are a part of) but there's also some side stories that focus on other ppl (there's a whole side story about Ren and Doc getting to know each other after Ren gets infected by the curse, or martyn whole listener thing & how it's connected to renchanting/ren getting cursed and the Watchers showing up in the first place... But i dont wanna spoil too much :3)
Oh also! Hermits r mainly criminals(vigilantes, villains, big salmom mafia,...) and Empires members r usually heroes! But there is some exceptions to this rule. (jimmy n martyn for example)
ANY KIND OF QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS R WELCOME!!! might not be able to answer everything bc of spoilers, but ill def try to do some foreshadowing instead :3

So I have this weird headcanon. And it’s definitely not true. And it’s got almost no merit to it. And I still like to think it’s real.
Basically, one or two apparitions show up to every location where there’s been a family tragedy, or if in that tragedy, a mystery hasn’t been solved. One of them is a man in a hat and trenchcoat, shrouded in shadows. The other is a woman in 1940s housewife garb, dress, gloves, and all. She’s always humming, but the song isn’t something anyone could recognize if they heard it. Very rarely will they both be there.
I think you can guess who they are.
They aren’t invisible to regular eyes. People see them. The truly hidden truth is WHY they’re there. Billy and Mary are the only people who know that reason. So whenever they see one or both of their parents in a seemingly normal place, their alarm bells go off. It comes to a point where they disregard all prior evidence and ignore how happy and normal everything looks, because if mom and/or dad is here, something is definitely wrong.
It doesn’t have to be just places on Earth too. Kal sees the shadow man in a picture he finds of past-Krypton, and doesn’t think anything of it. Months later, him and Kara reunite.
Bruce finds old camera footage of THAT alley. The one his parents died in. There’s a woman walking down it, paying no mind to how creepy it really looks. Anyone else would be running to get out, or being as quiet as a mouse, but doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. A year later, Bruce finds the identity of his parents’ killer.
They don’t see the signs. They dont think back on the oddness of these two people because how could they? They don’t know what to look for.
But Billy and Mary know. And they know why. Secrets and lies kept their family apart. It led to CC and Marilyn dying far away from each other. It led to Mary getting amnesia and knowing she had a family, but never knowing how to find them, or if they were even real. It led to Billy living the way he did and suffering through it all.
CC and Marilyn don’t want that to happen to anyone else, so that’s what they do. Places where mysteries aren’t solved and the dead can’t rest until something has been uncovered. They take it upon themselves to make that known, and they trust their children to recognize the signs. It took so long for Clark to find Kara and Bruce to find Joe Chill because they didn’t know.
The Justice League is more than curious about why Billy and Mary always manage to look past all the signs and think there’s something they’re missing. Billy being Billy, he keeps his mouth shut. The twins have never spoken about their parents out loud, afraid they might disappear if they do.
At some point, Batman being Batman, he puts the pieces together. Finds coincidences, the fact that the man in the trenchcoat always comes when a thievery involves magic(CC’s father found the Scorpion trinket, and like his dad, he sees protecting these objects like his responsibility).
Bruce makes the mistake of running at him. Of capturing his hand. Of not letting go.
And he sees it all. The pain of a man’s body being buried beneath soil and earth. Far away from his wife. Not knowing if she’s okay. Scared for his daughter’s life. Praying to every god there is that Billy is safe with his uncle.
The pain is excruciating. He knows he’s dying. He wants so desperately to feel his family in his arms, but they’re all so far away.
There are faces. A kind, lovely woman. A boy. A girl. The woman is on the ground and covered in her own blood. The girl is drugged and kicking and screaming in the backseat of a truck. A boy is kicking and screaming in the backseat of a police car. They are both kicking and screaming and you can hear them and you can’t help.
There’s the feeling where you’re trapped underground. You’re screaming. Your holding in your fear. You’re crying. There’s blood in your mouth. You don’t know where she is is she okay? Are they okay—
Bruce pulls back and his lungs fill with air. The man is gone. He’s never felt so shaken. And he lives in Gotham.
But he recognizes the boy’s face. The face of his coworker.
The next day, Billy passed by him after a meeting.
“You never touch them. That’s the rule.”
I guess I just wanted to dip my toes into the more darker aspect of Captain Marvel. Magic itself has a darker side anyway, so this kinda lines up in my opinion.

He Who Must Not Be Normal by @letteredlettered [40k]
Potter has fame and fortune and posh clothes and all he wants is a simple life.  Draco has a flat and a cat and a steady job and all he wants is a complicated life.  Which makes you think this story has something exciting like body-swapping, but it doesn’t.  Instead it has Indian takeaway and a blue jumper and people wanting a whole lot of what they can’t have, discovering themselves as they discover each other.
If We Were Honest by daisymondays / @gracie137blogs [26k]
Two years ago, Draco and Harry had a whirlwind secret romance that ended in heart-break. Since then Draco’s written a best-selling novel based on their relationship, but with one key difference—the characters get a happily ever after. Now Harry and Draco are reunited for the first time since their break-up, but can they rewrite their own ending?
Love Bites, Or How Draco Malfoy Learned to Let Go and Celebrate His Allure by @m0srael [50k]
Recently-turned Draco Malfoy is doing his very best to be a normal, productive, contributing member of wixen society. So far, he’s managed to keep his bloody little problem a secret, even from his best friends. But when the professional opportunity he’s been dreaming of finally   falls in his lap, he finds himself with much more than just a potential promotion. Will a profile on a new creature-exclusive dating app, a wolfy stranger who seems hellbent on liking Draco just the way he is, and a little self-confidence help Draco finally love himself and his newfound community?
Orion in the Sky by space_wingding [30k]
Draco Malfoy owns a bookshop in the Lake District. He’s also cursed. Enter: Harry Potter.
Per Solum Lacuna: By Words Alone by Azhure [560k]
A set of enchanted journals bring solace to two very unlikely lost   souls. Whoever said the art of penmanship was lost? This is a wizarding twist on the old fashioned art of correspondence (or the modern art of Internet chatting). What will happen when the mystery writers finally   discover the identity of their counterpart? Join this star crossed pair as they obliviously chat to each other; along the way learning about   life and love. Find out what will happen when their own voyages of self discovery lead them to the most unlikely of places. This is eventual   HP/DM, but other pairings for the protagonists along their journey.
The Price We Pay for Wings by Frayach [13k]
Books have the power to shape young lives. At least that is the hope of the anonymous author of a best-selling series about a Muggle boy and his best friend on the eve of a world war. But stories do more than just shape the future: they can redress the wrongs of the past as well. But only as long as it’s not too late…
Reading Malfoy by @femmequixotic [15k]
After thirteen years of hiding himself away in Muggle London, Draco Malfoy shows up again in the wizarding world–with a wickedly amusing memoir in hand. Harry doesn’t want to read it. Really. He doesn’t.
The Romantic Prawn Who Loved Christmas by @bixgirl1 [39k]
When Draco, forced into sharing a room with Potter for the year, finds out that Potter has a sleepwalking problem, he expects the odd conversations and the weird games of chess. What comes as a complete shock are Potter’s other activities…And why he seems so intent on having Draco join him. (Relax. It’s just like a holiday Hallmark movie! …With, uhm, sleepwanking.)
Sourdough by @academicdisaster24 [17k]
Draco writes romance novels and doesn't leave his apartment much. Harry bakes bread and sells it to Draco. Draco is quite weird. Harry might like that.
Sunseeker by @shiftylinguini [15k]
Harry is a struggling writer. Namely, he is struggling with: writing his next book, dealing with his agent, finding a decent tea strainer, fielding his friend’s concern over the aforementioned book, and figuring out who the cat loitering in his garden belongs to. He also has a slight liking-Malfoy problem. Okay, he has a massive liking-Malfoy problem.
Teach Me, Life; Guide Me, Love by @kiraohara [79k]
Revelations both painful and joyous set the markers in the path of every life. Thankfully, Draco has spectacular company for the journey.
Verba Volant by shushu_yaoi_lj / @orange-peony [34k]
The first letter arrives after the Trials. Harry unfolds the parchment and his eyes open wide when he realises who it’s from. He soon finds himself waiting for those letters to arrive, staring at the window in search of Malfoy’s owl. He wants to know more.
When It Alteration Finds by momatu [55k]
After the war, Harry left most of the Wizarding world behind and built a new life for himself in the Channel Islands. He opened a bakery and is happy with his life. Draco is a fiction author who writes under a penname, and he’s currently suffering from writer’s block. His agent suggests he try writing in a new environment and rents a cottage in the Channel Islands for him.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did!

TF2 Fanfic - Someone Else's Song Chapter 1
Engineer needs to do something about his crush on Spy. So Pyro convinces him to write him a love letter. Unfortunately, Spy reads way too deep into things and ends up spending a whole week trying to crack a code that doesn't exist. He also, somewhat to his consternation, ends up decoding his own feelings for someone on the team in the process. Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Ao3 Link!
I'll fully admit this one is dumb as hell but the fun kind of dumb where the mercs get to be little shits lol. Just, uh, ignore how Scout is better at reading in this than in canon. It's for the bit, dammit. Also spot the Simpsons joke!
---------
Pyro looked from the page in his gloved hands—typed up on the publicly available typewriter in the rarely-used records office on base—to Engineer, who was doing his level best to avoid eye contact, his face bright red as he inspected contents of his coffee cup like the answer to all of life's questions was hidden beneath the last dregs of the beverage inside. "I mean, the wording definitely doesn't sound like you, so between that and typing it instead of handwriting, I don't think he's gonna guess from that."
Engineer sighed a little, relieved. "It don't sound like no one else on the team, does it?"
"Aside from maybe Spy himself? I don't think so." Pyro set the letter back down on Engineer's workbench. "It should keep him guessing. But if you don't give him any clues, how's he gonna guess it's you?"
Engineer mulled that over a little. "Him knowin' it's me is kinda what I'm tryin' to avoid."
"Knowing it's you and guessing it's you are two totally different things!" Pyro shook his head. "Look, I get that you don't think you've got a shot, but the whole reason I said a love letter was the best way to get these feelings out is because you can get a feel for whether he's interested or not! If you don't give him anything to go on, he's gonna give up, Engie!"
"This ain't a 'come an' get me' letter!"
"No, but if he's intrigued enough to try and find out more, then you know he's not turned off by the idea that someone on the team's into him! And if you give him just a few breadcrumbs, he won't be able to turn down a mystery. Hell, he might dig that, that you know him well enough to know he wants a little mystery, a little bit of a chase, right?"
"You know so much about him, maybe you should be movin' in on him, 'stead of me," Engineer pouted, setting his coffee down.
"Pfft," Pyro dismissed him with a wave of his gloved hand. "I don't go in for these backdoor shenanigans."
Rolling his eyes, Engineer set his hands on his hips. "Well what do you suggest, then?"
Pyro tapped at the filter of his mask in thought. "Well, you typed it up, so unless you wanna try sneaking down to the records room again without being noticed, I'd suggest something quick and simple. Maybe a signature? You didn't even put a pseudonym, or a title. Like, 'your secret admirer' or something!"
Taking the page from Pyro's hand, Engineer set it on his drafting table, looking it over in thought. Pyro was right. He was terrified that Spy would suss it out immediately and reject him outright. He wasn't exactly a man that shared similar tastes to the fancy Frenchman. In spite of himself, however, he couldn't help but get giddy at just the thought of those bright blue eyes, that strong, aquiline nose, the adorably silly way he snorted when he laughed too hard. How in the hell did he manage to turn from a hardened killer in his forties to a blushing schoolboy?
Seizing one of his drafting pencils, Engineer considered for a long moment. How would he sign this love letter? What identity would he give this fictionalized version of himself, a breadcrumb for Spy to cling to without fully giving himself away? With a sigh, he scribbled down the first thing he could think of that wasn't obvious.
"N.G.?" Pyro read, over Engineer's shoulder?
"Well it ain't like I could use D.C., that'd be a dead giveaway. Nobody on the team's got an initial in common. So I just pulled two letters that don't match anyone on the team at all."
Pyro turned to his friend and stared at him long and hard through darkened lenses. He shook his head. "Yeah, yanno what? Sure, fine, it works." He threw up his hands and walked off, utterly done. "Good luck, Engie."
"T—thanks, Py," Engineer replied, confused at his friend's response.
*
The next day's match was a late start, leaving everyone utterly exhausted by its end, which pushed into the twilight hours. More importantly, the late start left everyone champing at the bit to get going at its beginning, leaving Engineer ample chance to sneak the folded note into Spy's locker without anyone noticing.
When at last the final bell sounded and the day was called to an end, the team ambled in from the field, spent and sore. The day's mission had been a payload defense, which was always grueling work that lacked a finality and catharsis in victory that holding a control point, capturing points, or retrieving a briefcase full of intel would always bring. Instead, it was simply a matter of holding pressure until at last the other team could push no longer, and it left them all battered and weary. It was with this bone-deep exhaustion that they returned to their lockers after the match, setting down their weapons and tools and undressing before they hit the showers, chattering idly about the highs and lows of the day.
"...and that's why, man. Ain't no way their Demo ain't got it out for me or somethin'," Scout said, continuing his long-winded theory as to his problems of the day.
"No more'n any of 'em do," Sniper countered, hanging up his hat and shedding his sunglasses. "You just keep gettin' in the bloke's way, mate. I keep tellin' you. It's not targeted if you keep stumblin' into 'is sticky traps."
"He keeps settin' 'em right where I'm goin'!" Scout replied, tugging his shirt off. "It's like the guy's got a grudge!"
"Your poor battlefield awareness is not the manifestation of a grudge," Spy shot with a roll of his eyes, stubbing out his cigarette on his shoe and finally making it to his locker. He lifted an eyebrow, immediately clocking the new addition to his possessions. "Hello now, what's this?"
"Man, I got plenty a' battlefield awareness! I got battlefield awareness comin' out my ass! Ain't nobody know the ins an' outs a' that field better than me you snooty fro—hey what's that?" Scout interrupted his own self-aggrandizement to peer at the letter that sat in the upper cubby of Spy's locker, where the rogue was also staring, studying, trying to be sure there were no traps attached. Scout merely ducked around him and snatched up the paper with a flourish and set to opening it.
"Scout! You idiot, there could be a trap! Or contact poison! Or—"
"'Spy," he nodded to the older man, holding the letter out of his reach as he grabbed for it," I find you fascinating in a way I can't shake. I'm fixated on you. You're all I can think of when my mind turns to idle thoughts, and those thoughts are a mixture of adoration and lust. Hoo buddy, this is gettin' spicy!" He grinned and waggled his eyebrows, dodging around Spy's grasping hands and hopping up onto the bench in front of the lockers. His voice grew more dramatic as he read." It's driven me to distraction and the kind of madness only alleviated by some sort of action. " He grinned down at Spy, who had given up on trying to snatch the letter from his grasp, his face growing pink with embarrassment.
"But I have doubts as to whether I'd be welcomed. Feelings beyond surface-level are impossible to read with you, which makes sense. You wouldn't be the deeply capable spy you are if you were an open book. What a fuckin' brown-noser. Your skill and talent are part of what make you so damnably attractive, if frustratingly mysterious."
The rest of the team had finished piling into the room, gathering around the bench as Scout read aloud for the group. Pyro had his hands on his hips, shaking his head. The kid could be such a dick sometimes, and he could practically feel Engineer dying behind him, the shorter man wilting as he tried to pretend to be surprised.
"So," Scout threw an arm out, giving it all the performance he could muster, "all I can do is write this and leave it where you can find it, so I can finally get this off of my chest. Yours..." everyone leaned in with interest, stricken with curiosity as to who had written such a note. Scout pulled the letter away from his face, holding it out for Spy to take, "N.G."
"N.G.?" Spy asked, finally snatching the paper from Scout's hand, holding it up for his eyes to scan hurriedly across. Everything was spelled correctly, and there was no unusual capitalization. A quick look at the paragraphs showed no immediate pattern in word choice, and everything but the name was typed, so handwriting couldn't be analyzed. From a cursory glance, where was no clue as to whom had written the letter. He took a deep breath, and looked from the page to the assembled mercenaries, his cheeks burning.
Four and a half sets of eyes and two pairs of lenses all stared back at Spy, and from a glance, he could discern nothing but surprise and curiosity from all of them. He swallowed hard and tried to regain his composure. "It seems someone is...smitten with me," he said slowly, the reality of the situation dawning on him.
Scout guffawed from his spot on the bench, hopping down next to Spy and throwing his arm over the taller man's shoulders. "Hope you like sausage, pally, 'cause ain't nobody got access to this locker room but us chuds." He grinned and gestured broadly to the assembled men in the room, all of whom averted their eyes bashfully at the suggestion.
Spy lifted an eyebrow at Scout, then rolled his eyes in annoyance. The little shit was right, but he didn't have to come out and say it. Whoever wrote the note, it was one of seven possible suspects.
Even if Scout were oblivious as to why it was the worst possible outcome if he were the author—and Spy had a sneaking suspicion that he wasn't as oblivious as he played, considering the occasional cracks Heavy would make—there was no way he would have been able to spell half of the words on the letter, let alone define them. And he certainly wouldn't go reading the damned thing aloud for everyone just to embarrass Spy. That was one worst-case-scenario squared away, at least, so Spy didn't have to worry about the logistics of a murder-suicide.
No, it was down to Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, or Sniper. His eye swept over them all, and he turned his mouth up into a straight line. All of them were uncomfortable under his gaze, which was only fair. After all, they were all in a room together, and Scout was clearly ready to pounce at the first sign of weakness for immediate mockery.
Spy tried to think it beneath him to do the same if the tables were turned, but he knew better. He would be the first to tease Scout and his prospective beau mercilessly, so it was only fair that he suffered the same fate, really. Though it seemed unfair that whoever it was who had placed the letter should be so shamed, particularly when it was already very clearly a labour just to make this barest gesture.
Among a team of straightforward, brash, confident men, it was certainly surprising.
Either way, standing around and letting Scout hang about as his personal gadfly wouldn't make it any easier. "How eloquent," Spy finally sighed drolly, knocking Scout's arm off of him and straightening his jacket. "Well, nobody is stepping forward, so there's no point to standing here, covered in dirt and sweat and stinking up the place. Gentlemen." He put the letter back in the cubby of his locker and set to undressing.
"You're gonna shower? With everyone? Knowin' you got a target on your ass? That one a' the guys is gonna be eyein' you up like fresh meat?" Scout balked.
"If he hasn't been noticed taking looks yet, he scarcely will risk it now," Spy announced, unbuttoning his jacket. He smiled, looking to the younger man, who seemed absolutely scandalized. "And if he does, then hopefully he will enjoy the show."
That brought a chuckle out of Heavy and Sniper, who peeled off to go change as well, the rest of the team following suit, conversations springing up among them as they undressed, grabbed their towels and shower kits and headed in to go wash.
"So yer intae blokes?" Demoman asked as Spy walked past him to the showerhead on his blind side. He shed his towel and hung it on the wall, and turned on the water, letting it run and get warm before stepping under its spray.
"I am into interesting people," Spy replied, setting himself up in turn. "I have preferences that interest me more than others, of course, but someone's gender does not disqualify them, no."
"Ye great pouf," Demoman chuckled. "Figured as much."
"You're one to talk," Spy chuckled.
"Oh?"
"Not a man on this base believes your line about that business with the BLU Soldier being just about friendship."
Demoman heaved a heavy-yet-quiet laugh. "Aye, fair enough."
Engineer stood at Spy's other side, his eyes straight ahead, his jaw clenched hard enough to ache. He heard a snort from the other direction, and turned to see Pyro looking pointedly at him, grinning. His eyes went wide, and he shut them, turning his face into the water spray. Little shit was going to get him made. But he knew why he was doing it. He'd heard it too. Spy was into men, and that meant he wasn't out of the game yet.
Whether Spy would think he's an interesting person, though, that remained to be seen.
*
"N.G.," Spy mumbled, looking about the mess table at his coworkers, watching them with keen eyes.
"So mysterious!" Medic tittered, looking across at Spy as he picked at his dinner.
"Yes. Very mysterious," Heavy agreed flatly, sitting beside the doctor. He cast a look about the table, wondering if nobody else had put together the very obvious pseudonym of its author. In spite of himself, he didn't let his eye linger on Engineer. The poor man had to build up the courage just to leave a love note; it would be cruel to out him. Though Heavy was surprised; he didn't figure Engineer for such a coward. The man was normally so plain-spoken. But then, matters of the heart were fickle. Who was he to judge?
Especially as Spy was busy analyzing every single one of them for the slightest tell, trying to socially engineer his way into a solution through sheer force of will, making them all squirm under his curious scrutiny. Heavy was grateful that it wasn't him who held a torch for Spy. He wouldn't be able to maintain a straight face under such intense study. He almost pitied Engineer.
But then, he'd asked for this, quite literally.
"Any theories?" Sniper teased, gesturing to Spy with a fork full of salisbury steak.
"Considering his dismay, I've safely eliminated Scout from the running."
Everyone nodded. That was obvious for other reasons, but they all knew better than to say it.
Scout made a face at the possibility. "Fuckin' miracle anyone wants to fuck you."
"Thank you," Spy dismissed with annoyance. "Otherwise? I do not know. I have theories as to who it isn't, but as to who it is? That is trickier."
"I did not write your letter," Soldier announced.
"I know, you don't know how," Spy replied with a roll of his eyes.
"Damn right!"
"Don't just tell him!" Pyro chastised, whacking Soldier on the shoulder. "That takes away the fun! Let Spy solve it!"
"I assure you, he did not provide me with new information just now," Spy said drolly. He finished his dinner and downed the last of his drink. "But thank you, mon ami."
Pyro beamed.
"Regardless, I think I will get nowhere surrounded by everyone, and I suppose I owe it to the author to perhaps approach him in private, once I have deduced his identity. As such, I will retire for the evening. If you'll excuse me." Spy rose from his seat, taking his dishes to the kitchen to wash before leaving mess for the evening with a casual wave to the team on his way out.
They all stared after him, and when the door closed, immediately turned to one another, staring hard at each other, accusingly. Except for Heavy, who just shook his head.
"I'm impressed! I didn't realize you held such a high opinion of him," Medic said, leaning in to grin at Sniper.
"Me? What're you lookin' at me for? I'm not interested in that bloody snake!" Sniper snapped, reeling back in his seat. He pointed to Demoman, "Demo's obviously this N.G. bloke, tryin' shamelessly to pull 'im in the showers!"
"Tryin' tae pull 'im?! I was jus' askin' a question! And a fair one at that! Nae a single one o' ye thought tae clear it up if N.G. even had a chance! If Spy only wanted birds, it'd all be pointless anyway! Ye cannae say ye were nae curious!"
"If Spy only wanted birds, only Doc'd have a chance," Scout snorted, deeply entertained by the chaos.
"Is that a joke about my pets, or are you suggesting I'm a woman? Answer carefully," Medic grunted.
"What's wrong with being a woman?" Pyro asked, fanning the flames.
"Absolutely nothing, other than I don't appreciate being misgendered simply because I do not strut around aggressively asserting my masculinity every three minutes like some insecure, immature Dummkopf!"
"That's big talk from a guy walkin' around callin' everyone a dumbhead!"
"Scout," Heavy warned, though he was quickly drowned out by Sniper.
"You're awful quiet, Truckie," he observed with a smirk, looking down the table at the shorter man.
Engineer choked on the water he was drinking, breaking into a coughing fit upon being called out. The table erupted in laughter, and once his throat was clear, he glared daggers at the assassin at the other end of the table. "I'm tryin' to eat my damn dinner's why I'm quiet, Stretch. Ain't nobody's business but Spy's who's sweet on him, and it's uncouth to sit around cacklin' like a bunch of hens speculatin'."
Everyone shared a look. Medic bit his lip. Demoman pouted, trying to contain a smile. Sniper simply continued smirking, his gaze leveled on his friend. Pyro was glad for his mask to provide a poker face. Scout had a hand clapped over his mouth to contain his giggles.
Heavy simply shook his head. Engineer was right. Engineer was also deeply, deeply obvious. "You are correct, Engie," he said. He rarely used the other man's nickname, but said it now pointedly. "Rude to gossip about teammates' love life, Engie."
Engineer stared hard at Heavy, and the giant smirked as his eyes locked on shadowed lenses.
"But you are not very good at being sneaky, N.G. "
Everyone's eyes alit on Engineer, whose face burned bright red.
"Ohhhhhh," Scout gasped, realization dawning. "Engie, N.G.! That's fuckin' genius, man, I never woulda thought 'a that."
Sniper turned a baffled look to Scout, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Love bloomin' on a battlefield. It's beautiful," Demoman said, wiping at his eye.
"A love letter from the soft-spoken American to his elegant French beau; how romantic!" Medic cooed.
"He ain't my beau!" Engineer replied, his hand curling into a fist.
"Come on, guys, be nice. Imagine how hard it must be to admit that to Spy of all people. He's not known for being gentle to people," Pyro cautioned, trying to deescalate now that it was actively turned on Engineer.
"Yeah, s'pose he can be...intimidatin'," Demoman conceded.
"And flippant," Medic admitted.
"And rude," Sniper pointed out.
"And an asshole," Scout added with a pout.
Engineer frowned harder.
"But he is handsome," Heavy offered with a thoughtful nod.
"What, are you a fanny bandit too?" Scout asked, a bit surprised.
"Keep forgettin' fanny means arse over here," Sniper mumbled.
"Not your business," Heavy shot, "but do not need to like men to understand what handsome man look like."
"Women do tend to fall for his charms readily," Medic observed, thrusting a finger into the air.
"That's true, and ye cannae deny the lad's got charm," Demoman agreed, nodding sagely.
"And we know Demo's a pouf, so there's your expert," Sniper chuckled.
Demoman shot him a look. "He's nae me type, but I'd nae kick the lad outta bed. So I see what you see in him, mate," he said, giving Engineer a wink. At least, he assumed it was a wink.
Engineer's face hit the table, his hardhat flopping off loudly as he slumped into a defeated heap, blushing up to his scalp. "Fellas…"
"Nobody better say a fucking word," Pyro cautioned, pointing a finger and making sure to jab it in the direction of every mercenary at the table. He laid a hand on Engineer's back as the man curled his arms around his head to hide his face. "Or respawn won't be able to save you."
Everyone else reeled back, hands up in surrender. None of them wanted to incur Pyro's wrath.
"What? Us? Say anythin'? No, naw, you got it all wrong, Py! Never never not once, nope. Not me, not us, right, guys?" Scout sputtered nervously, terror edging into his expression as he begged off.
Everyone else nodded in nervous agreement.
"Just can't believe Heavy made it before Spy," Sniper mumbled, casting an apologetic look to the giant, who raised an eyebrow. "No offense, mate. But it's Spy we're talkin' about 'ere."
"Spy's job is partly to decipher intelligence and codes," Medic conceded, laying a hand on his companion's shoulder.
"Spy look too hard, miss obvious thing," Heavy sighed, shaking his head. "He is probably trying to find coded message that does not exist."
"It's clever," Demoman chuckled, leaning in to Engineer, who had not lifted his head from the table. "Give the lad a bone tae chew on, a wee mystery tae solve, when the answer's in front o' his face! Just the sort o' thing that'd get his attention, for sure."
"Yeah, well hopefully givin' 'im that bone'll get 'im givin' you his bone, right?" Scout said with a toothy grin.
"Can you not?" Sniper shot, swatting Scout. "Can you be fucking supportive for once?"
"What?! How'm I not bein' supportive?" Scout rubbed at his arm, pouting at Sniper. "Engie's playin' to that rat's interests, and I'm sayin' that's a good thing! It's what he's into, so maybe that'll let 'im hit it! Look if Engie wants to dick Spy down I ain't judgin' nothin' but the guy's taste in men, man!"
Sniper sighed, sitting back in his seat, rubbing at the bridge of his nose as Scout turned to Engineer. "You got this, Hard Hat. A love letter, a little mystery? It's cliche but Spy's a big walkin', talkin', smokin' cliche. Bet 'e loves that bodice ripper shit, too. The romance shit. You show up shirtless, all flexin' an' dramatic, sweep the guy off 'is feet? Carry 'im to bed an' lay 'im down an' tell 'im you're gonna ravish 'im? Putty in your hands, pal."
"We still talkin' about what Spy's intae?" Demoman teased.
"Whatchu tryin' to say, Cyclops?"
"I dinnae ken, lemme get me shirt off and do some flexin' for ye and we'll see, aye?"
Pyro chuckled as Scout and Demoman set to bickering, Sniper immediately jumping in to roast them both. He pat Engineer on the back, who he felt shaking with soft laughter, relieved that the worst the team had for him was some gentle ribbing and their own version of being supportive. Now, all he had to worry about was what Spy thought.
*
N.G.
In ROT-13, that decoded to A.T. Not a man on the team had those initials either, and even the one man with a T, Tavish, had an F and a D for his other initials, so it seemed unlikely. Though he had been friendly in the shower...
He was always friendly in the shower. Spy always stood on his blind side, so conversation lacked awkwardness, and he always wanted to chat while the adrenaline of the field was still fresh. Spy knew that. And that aside, the man was forthright to a fault. If he were his admirer, there'd be no secret about it. He'd make a show of ogling him and ask him out for drinks, brazen as always.
No, Demoman seemed unlikely. Doubly so because Spy knew from experience that the man wrote in Scots, just as he spoke, which made his English even harder to parse in written form.
The writing of the letter was clean, precise, almost designed to be hard to identify. Surely, typing almost all of it had been a clever way to avoid handwriting analysis.
Which would be doubly important for a man with difficult-to-read handwriting. Medic, perhaps? Spy could rarely understand the scribbles the doctor threw onto his blackboards in the lab, and more infuriatingly: official documents that he needed to interact with. It was chicken scratch to his eyes, and he had to fight to make out what the hell the man was even trying to communicate. The love note would have been unreadable in Medic's handwriting, so a typewriter would be a clever move. Certainly, the vocabulary and formality on display seemed a closer fit for him than anyone else on the team.
But Medic had no shame. He certainly only partook in clandestine behaviour spontaneously, improvising his way through life to a degree that frankly stressed Spy the hell out. There was no way the man would bother with a note, let alone typing it up, especially when he maintained that his handwriting was perfectly legible, na schönen Dank auch! He, like Demoman, would likely just come out and say it, likely in an embarrassingly public scenario, likely with an inappropriate amount of familiarity, and wonder why everyone was staring.
No, no, it couldn't be him. Spy grumbled quietly, taking another sip of the whiskey he held in one hand, a pencil threaded between the index and middle fingers of his other hand, which drummed on the top of his desk as he hunched over it, eyes busily scanning the page once again. If there were a substitution cipher, the key would have to be contained in the letter itself, possibly in some sort of pattern in the words.
No clues in the capitalization. No clues in the words that started sentences or paragraphs. He counted the commas and periods, no pattern or morse code to be found. He took another sip of whiskey and sighed.
Soldier couldn't read, and admitted it wasn't him, so that was out. Unless he was trying to throw him off the trail in front of the others...
Heavy, while straightforward and confident, was also cagey with his more easily-bruised emotions. It could be him. Surely, leaving a note and hoping for the best, hoping to avoid the attention of the rest of the team and finding very few excuses to get Spy alone to speak with him, could be his style. The language was florid enough to speak from his poet's heart, but it was also too complex for the man's grasp of English. Had it been in his native tongue, he was sure a love note would read exactly like what one would expect from a doctor of literature. But Heavy would likely never allow any third party to translate something so intimate, and not another soul on the team could even read Cyrillic characters, let alone the Russian language. It seemed deeply unlikely.
That left Sniper, Pyro, and Engineer. Sniper was plain-spoken, but also spent most of his life hiding as part of his livelihood. Caginess made sense, and he knew the man had a better vocabulary than he let on, and could play roles when needed for work. It wasn't impossible that the letter had come from him, but it seemed strange, considering their vitriolic friendship. N.G. had complimented his competence at his job, and competence in one's profession was something Sniper always spoke of priding himself on. It would make sense that he looked for that tendency in a partner, as well. Spy admired the man's commitment to his work, and his pragmatism, but he wasn't sure he could handle being the object of affection of a man who was so pragmatic that he threw piss at people and lived in a van. He shuddered, not crossing the man out in his mental list, but dearly hoping that he wasn't the culprit.
Pyro was a cipher of his own. Most of his dossier was redacted, and he kept much of himself very close to the chest, short of his fondness for cute, childish things and his penchant for talking a lot of shit at the slightest provocation. Spy had never seen him write or read, now that he thought about it, but absence of evidence should never be confused for evidence of absence. He shivered, wondering what Pyro's affection might look like, and leaving a love letter absolutely seemed his style. Typing it rather than doodling it in crayons and markers, though? If if were him, someone else had probably sprung the idea, which suggested co-conspirators. Considering Pyro had been excited to let Spy solve the riddle in the first place, that did make him seem a more likely suspect.
Engineer definitely had the vocabulary, though he only showed it off when he was looking to show off. He was also clever enough to type it to cover his tracks. But would he be the sort to leave a love note? He wasn't exactly the kind of man who wore emotions on his sleeve, usually only allowing camaraderie and anger into the open, like your stereotypical American man. But secretly, was he a romantic?
Spy thought of quiet nights around the campfire, when Engineer would strum his guitar and quietly sing old folk songs to fill the silence, his strong jaw and dark eyes illuminated by the dancing firelight. He'd sing of home, of struggle, of love, of all sorts of things, his warm, throaty voice low and gentle, barely above the strings that hummed along. But this was man who says he's not qualified to answer questions about the nature of beauty. Maybe it was just a matter that one cannot analyze such things objectively; one has to feel them, and his image of propriety got tied up in his concept of logic somewhere along the way? Could there be a romantic behind that facade, betrayed by the beauty of his songs?
Spy set his pen down, looking away from the page to stare off into the middle distance. He took another sip of his whiskey and frowned. Well, shit. He didn't know who this mysterious N.G. was, and he had yet to puzzle out anything about him. But somehow he had just deciphered his own emotions, and was left with a heavy pit in his gut at the realization that, oh no, he had feelings for Engineer.
But what if he wasn't N.G.?
But what if he was?
"Merde."

Delta anon here and I have returned to do the ask thingy!
I'm gonna be real, I have only a vague memory of entirely why I started following you. It was probably after I had SCOURED all of Tumblr for Delta-related things, and then I found a post you had made. I remember that it was the post you made about Delta being plural, and that i immediately sent it to one of my friends out of excitement. And out of the sheer joy of finally finding someone who even as much as knew of his existence, I followed you immediately (this is also how I started following the majority of the people I do now lmao).
I also began sending asks relating to Delta somewhere around that time, too. It was all on anon obviously, but sending anon asks to you about Delta helped me actually learn a lot more about Tumblr and interactions through it. And when I got a positive/respectful response (I say this in the fact that I didnt think you would be mean, but rather in the fact that I'd never previously interacted with anyone that i could directly send asks to and remain secret so I was incredibly nervous), it encouraged me to keep going. Which is why I said in a previous anon that I was probably at least a solid half of the contributions about the asks involving Delta.
So, in this, thank you for making me feel more confident and comfortable with both interacting with people and also contributing to things I enjoy. I really enjoy getting to send asks and receive responses, which is why I'm around so much lmao. I don't have to worry about being seen as annoying, which is a massive weight off my shoulders - especially knowing that I can remain anonymous and not have the fear of being judged publicly where everyone can see.
In truth, I've always been afraid of directly contributing to content, especially on a platform that's known for judgement sometimes. I've always been afraid of being judged in sharing my own personal headcanons about my favorite characters, but being able to go anon made me feel much more comfortable just sending an ask.
So, all in all, thank you. However I will continue to stay on anon because I like the idea of people not knowing who I am lmao. The mystery entertains me /silly
(And btw, same as crow, we are also secretly mutuals lmao)
ahhhh i love my mysterious secret mutuals!! Im so glad i was able to help you feel more comfortable and confident engaging and contributing to content about your favorite characters! It took me a long time to manage to get there on my own and im glad i was at least able to do that for someone else, even if unknowingly.
And as goes for anyone sending any asks to me on anonymous, I will always try to keep yalls identities/users secret.
including if you accidentally send something without turning on anonymous (which i can tell if the end message is still signed [nickname] anon near the top or end of a message), in which case id probably just screenshot the ask and crop out any usernames before I answer the ask and post it.
And I completely understand the worry about being judged Del, I’ve been on and off Tumblr as a quiet lurker for years before I begin posting at all. But I’m honestly glad I managed to find the courage to do so, it gave me the chance to meet and talk to some pretty amazing people and it’s just so nice to have fun with everyone.
And i honestly enjoy reading everything you have to say about Delta, Beta, the Epic Sanses, etc. You have such cool ideas and I can tell how much you really seem to love this AU and this character and all his potential. And I love talking about him, he’s such a goober. I could never be annoyed by seeing an ask from you, im always overjoyed see one or even sixty lmao.

Enchanted Chapter II
<Prev
Marinette has decided.
Jagged Stone should never, ever be allowed in another of these Wayne Galas.
If he’s normally difficult to handle by himself, then he’s absolutely insufferable now that he has company that eggs him on!
Now I understand why Penny almost begged me to come…
Not only does she have to take care of Jagged on a daily basis as his manager and long standing friend, now she also has to reign in his childhood friend because lord knows what would happen if they were to be left unattended…
Honestly, Marinette was expecting more from this Bruce Wayne guy. Jagged talked her ears off about how amazing of a friend he is and all his accomplishments and the work he does for charity and the community. Even Penny joined in saying how great he is.
But, so far, all she’s seen of this guy is him drinking his brains out along with Jagged and making themselves look like fools.
And none of his sons seem to be around to reign him in either. be it because he’s like Jagged and can’t be reigned in, or they just don’t care enough to do it.
Hopefully they aren’t as bad as he is at these events…
Now that she’s done the whole “introduce to the childhood best friend” part of her duties as her honorary Uncle’s plus one, she’s going off and as far away from these “grown adults” as possible.
Maybe I’ll be able to find the gentleman from the balcony - ahhh - what are you thinking, Marinette?!
She had removed her mask while in the corner she found in the garden - wearing a mask all night long is tiring and restricting, even if she insists on using it to keep her identity secret until she feels comfortable sharing it with the world.
She wasn’t expecting to turn around and make eye contact with the gentleman on the balcony. It was quite a distance from where she was, but after years of being Ladybug, all her senses have been greatly amplified - eyesight included - so it came as no surprise when she managed to make eye contact with him, if only for the fact that it allowed her to see his beautiful green eyes.
Maybe Kagami IS right and I do have a thing for green eyed men…
It’s such a pity that it was a short encounter, being interrupted by Luka calling her back inside to meet the famous Bruce Wayne.
Stealing one last glance his way, she placed her mask back on and turned around.
Now, after having complied with her duties as a plus one, she’s basically free to do whatever, and she’ll take advantage of that and try to find the mysterious green eyed, ginger gentleman.
Maybe mingling with the socialites of Gotham would help in finding him
The thought made her shudder, but for some reason something told her that she needed to meet him. And if there’s anything the Kwamis Guardian training has taught her, it was to trust her instincts, and right now, they were SCREAMING at her to at least find out his name before the end of the party.
The reason? She did not know, but she also did not completely mind it.
So, with a new mission in mind, she left off to find him.
--------------------------------------------------------------
After dropping Lian off at the kids section, Roy moved to the bar hoping to find Jason.
And if he paid more attention to the people in the ballroom in search of the midnight haired Garden Fairy, no one needed to know.
“Who are you looking for?” Jason said, startling him out of his musings.
“Wow, are you ok dude? What got you so distracted that you got startled by that??”
He was so lost in his mind that he didn’t even notice he’d reached the bar and Jason had approached him.
He’ll never let this go if he knows that I got distracted over a woman
“Sorry, I was just thinking about having to leave Lian alone” please buy this, please buy this. Roy knew it was a losing battle, but he could at least try, right?
“Yeah, yeah. dad of the year award and all that bullshit, congrats. I mean who’s the woman that got you distracted like that, you idiot.”
“It’s not-”
“And don’t give me that crap. I know you Roy, you can deceive yourself, but you definitely can’t lie to me. The only reason other people fall for it is because they’re either not trained like us, or they don’t know you. Now spill them beans bitch.”
“Fine.” and with a long sigh, Roy explained about how he found a Fairy out in the gardens and how he felt like he absolutely had to find her again.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA- I’M SORRY- HAHAHA- A FAIRY! A GARDEN FAIRY HAHAHA! you’ve definitely been playing too many fairytale fantasies with Lian!” Jason said between gasps of breath while trying not to die of laughter.
Roy knew that this was coming, but it was just ridiculous. Come on, he’s a dedicated dad and “Garden Fairy” was definitely the most suitable of names for the beauty in the middle of the well cared for greenery!
“Haha, we got it, it’s hilarious! Are you going to help me find her or not?” Roy rolled his eyes when Jason was still gasping for breath and trying to stifle his laugh at the same time, which wasn’t exactly working.
“I’m sorry, haha, I will! Of course I will! Just thinking about the last time you got laid makes me want to cry for you, so of course I’ll help when you show interest in a woman for the first time in almost 6 years now. She could be the one you know!”
insert deadpan look “Are you for real now Jason? And I’m the one playing too many fantasies with Lian? What about you and your romances? Aren’t you sticking your nose too far into the books at the newest book store around the corner of that one safe house?”
“Hey! Those books need to be read. They’re masterpieces that you’d never even imagine yourself to be able to understand. The sentences are immaculate, the plot is well plotted, no holes in a single chapter. The reading is so smooth it’s like laying on a bed with brand new silk sheets, it’s-”
“Ok nerd, I got it! You like reading them and I’m an idiot who will never get it, now get your romantic brain to work and help me find her”
“Alright, alright. Bossy much?”
“I heard that.”
After all the bickering, both men turned and discretely glanced at the crowd while making short conversation, looking for Roy’s mysterious Garden Fairy.
It took a bit, but finally, his eyes found her form. For some reason, she was now wearing a red, black and gold mask that she wasn’t previously wearing in the garden, and that may have contributed to how long it took to find her.
She was talking with a family that owned some sort of textile company in Old Gotham, but her eyes were glancing around the room, seemingly looking for something. Or maybe someone.
He didn’t like alluding himself, because it could not be true, and the disappointment would be too much to handle. But she really seemed to be looking for someone, and each time she failed to do so, he could see her nose scrunching - even with the mask - and the disappointment was clear in her bluebell eyes.
He was begging every entity to have her eyes meet his, and it seemed his prayers paid off, because not even a second later, her eyes landed on his. He saw recognition flash through them and a bit of pink took over the part of her face he could see. He was happy to see that reaction on her, it meant that she wasn’t completely uninterested as he had feared she would.
He started moving towards her and hoped he could convey in their conversation with their eyes, just how fascinated he was to have found her in those gardens earlier and that he would like to know more about her.
—————————————-
Marinette saw the ginger gentleman from the balcony move towards her, and from his eyes, she could tell he was just as interested in finding out more about her as she was about him.
So, turning away from the prospective business partners, she moved towards him, eventually standing only a couple feet from each other almost in the middle of the dance floor.
Glancing at the people already waltzing, she turned towards the ginger gentleman, an invitation clear in her eyes.
He took a step closer, hand reaching out for hers, and in the smoothest voice she’d ever heard, he asked her for a dance.
She placed her gloved hand on his inviting one, and that was all he needed to pull her closer and start the waltz that would change their lives.

Omg omg! Weird thought: SELKIE DARL.
mini rundown: selfies are supernatural seals that can turn into gorgeous humans when they shed their skin/coat. Buutt, if a human takes their coat, they usually end having to marry said human.
I imagine Chuuya and Akutagawa wouldn’t our right take to coat at first. Maybe they become friends and soon they find themselves catching feeling for the selkie. They’ll probably take the coat and hide it out of guilt. Offer to help selkie darl. But they soon find out and fight ensues.
With Dazai and Fyodor they might just watch you from afar at first and then straight up take the coat and trap you. You have no choice to get married ti them do you? After the marriage thing, they might threaten to or even go through with tearing the coat and permanently stoping you from turning to your seal form and wining away.
Buut, if you do manage to get you coat and leave? What would happen then?
i've read about selkies before but i'm not familiar with everything about them, so if i get anything wrong here do let me know :>
cw: yandere characters (chuuya, akutagawa, dazai, fyodor), obsessive behavior, manipulation, stalking, threats, imprisonment, forced marriage
chuuya sees you slip out of your skin one night, and he's mesmerized. of course, he isn't stupid enough to fall for someone just because of their otherworldly beauty, even if he knew they were actually something not human. what really gets him is when he starts seeing you around town in your human form, all smiling and friendly to everyone around you—including him, though the both of you were virtually strangers. you're so sweet to him, despite not knowing him, when you see him around your eyes light up and you get excited and he finds it...cute. in this scenario, you're more likely to fall for him first. after all, he's stunning, and it helps that he's so elusive; the mysterious air around him definitely adds to the appeal.
you were too good to him, especially since you had no idea of all the sinister things he was planning, but he would be lying if he said he hated the attention. eventually, he can't hide his feelings back, and even if you reciprocate, he insists it's for the best that you hand over your coat. what if someone took it, or hurt you because of it? at least, it'd always be safe with chuuya. you could trust him, you know.
akutagawa would be the opposite; he falls for you before knowing you weren't human. he's also taken by you, your personality, your friendliness—even if you don't like him in that way, he falls for you, and hard. it just so happens one day that he learns about your secret, and without thinking, when your back was turned, he swoops in and runs off with your coat.
you might realize he has it, perhaps he tells you he found something on the shore, not making it obvious he knew it was yours. you wouldn't want him to know you weren't human, so you decide the next best thing was to get him to gift it back to you. he did say he might save it as a gift for someone special in the future, and you could easily weasel your way to that spot with him being more than aware of your intentions but just as happy. regardless, akutagawa holds it from you for as long as he can, frantically searching for ways to forcefully keep you by his side because he knows you'd take it and disappear if he gave you your coat back. it's possible he might destroy it if he finds no other way. i don't think it's possible to escape in this scenario because akutagawa pulls all the stops (including destroying your coat) to make sure you stay with him.
dazai...he approaches you out of curiosity at first. you'd have foolishly switched into your human/seal form in a place where he had seen you, which is how he learned about your true identity. he's mostly only curious about you, at least, at first. he had no idea that such creatures existed and he wants to know more. dazai makes it clear from the start that he knows all about you, and stalks you constantly so that you couldn't hide from him. if it comes to a point where he thinks he likes you too much to risk you running off or going back to the sea, especially since he still has so many unanswered questions, dazai can easily find and steal your coat, leaving you at his mercy. and then, at every small mishap, he's all like, "i hope nothing happens to your coat!" and it's torture because you know he would easily go through with his threats. after all, he has nothing to lose from it.
for fyodor, i think similarly to chuuya it might be that selkie! reader falls for him first. i'm thinking, maybe a little mermaidesque thing where you're like wow humans are so cool and fyodor just happens to be walking by (pure coincidence! of course he hadn't been watching you for long before that and knew that you thought humans were interesting! of course not!) fyodor just has that charm about him.
he pretends to catch you staring at him one day, pretends to be startled by your presence. and it's worth it when your shocked expression meets his feigned one. it's easy for fyodor to start an unlikely friendship with you though he's not very talkative or expressive, you're satisfied with his company. and you trust him enough to not suspect him when one day your coat is missing and you're stuck in your human form. fyodor swoops in to help you, offering you shelter and food while he promises to find your coat.
obviously, the truth quickly comes to light when you realize it was fyodor with your coat all along. it's not like you can fight him when he's got a literal part of you that you need to return to your family in hand. he doesn't take any chances and destroys it at once, trapping you with him and dooming you to a miserable future forever.

Regarding the recent post:
Killer Queen is too short ranged of a stand to affect most sleuths and it's not in Kira's character to drop Sheer Heart Attack at the police departament and hope.
Kira generally doesn't have many ways to deal with characters that: Work in teams. Work from far away. Have any sort of records showing that they're invastigating him.
The man had to be bailed out by Bites the Dust and still lost Most sleuths wouldn't even let Kira get away for long enough for him to aquire Bites the Dust so that's not even something to consider in most of these cases.
{But you're really ignoring one thing: It can't be detected by anyone but Stand Users. Why would they think they needed to investigate Yoshikage Kira specifically? There's no evidence of the killings, since in canon, even the police didn't try to investigate the mysterious disappearances. The sleuths would mostly not be able to understand that Killer Queen exists, and even if they assumed it was something supernatural, there's still no evidence. And the man managed to impersonate another man in front of his family, landlord, coworkers, and everyone who may have talked to Kosaku on the street, with only the man's child catching on. Had Hayato never thought to set up a camera in his parents' room, Kira would have never been caught at all. And Kira doing poorly against teams of people investigating him doesn't line up when he's gotten away from them twice (he would have escaped Jotaro and Koichi were it not for Act III, and he did escape the entire Duwang Gang when they were chasing him by severing his own hand), plus managing to keep his identity secret from EVERYONE except Hayato until the kid figured out how to use the time-loop to his advantage. You're right that most of the time Killer Queen wouldn't get to Bites the Dust, but it would be because Kira wouldn't need to. He has eliminated people in broad daylight before, and he could do so again when against someone who can't see Stands.}
