The first petal emerges with so little ceremony that nobody notices it except L. On screen the Yagami boy says, "Quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kira sees right through this."

The pink petal unfurls quietly in his hand.

L says, "Your son is clever, isn't he?"

The flowers come out wet. It's an ungraceful affair, but at least they're small.

When they're whole, the petals coil around in neat spirals. Sometimes they're buds, but usually they're just individual petals. There's a strength of emotion in what L feels, but yearning feels as much the wrong description as unrequited.

The flowers don't hurt, and after a while, they stop altogether.

On screen, Light Yagami blinks. He looks tired.

"Ryuzaki," he says. "What's it going to take for you to believe that I'm not Kira?"

Without turning the microphone on, L coughs once and expels nothing but air. Light stares beseechingly up at the camera for another long moment before he slumps.

L's throat stays clear until Higuchi seizes and collapses in the Chief's arms. Then, it isn't a petal at all. Light's shoulders are still heaving when L starts to cough. By the time he's spat up the irritant--one single yellow stamen--into his palm, Light's eyes are fixed blankly on the middle distance.

"Ryuzaki," he says quietly. Calmly, coolly, like he wasn't screaming himself hoarse only a second ago. "I want to check this out."

L coughs again.

The last petal emerges later, but it disappears into Light's palm, and L doesn't know anything after that.

So I started the dub of Fruits Basket again.

Forgetting, of course, that the primary theme is about life changing and having to be okay with letting go of the past even though the future is uncertain.

More importantly, forgetting that one of the main threads of this throughout the series is Tohru's grief (and guilt) over her mother's death.

📂 she's the kind of person who moves effortlessly through different social settings, and she has no problem speaking to people from all kinds of backgrounds. that's one of the things which make her such a proficient diplomat, but it also means that she's invariably on good terms with the servants who work in the various palaces she calls home - be that when she's growing up on vanaheim, when she's moved to asgard, or when she is visiting family on ljósálfheim or niðavellir.

📂 you know that stereotype of doctors making the worst patients? absolutely 100% true, where this healer is concerned. sigyn is the type of stubborn, selfless person who will make sure everyone else is safe before taking care of herself, and she's the stupid kind of selfless, stubborn person who'll hide that anything is wrong with them so people don't worry.

📂 she's a healer, not a warrior, but she can fight. her fighting style relies less on brute force and more on efficiency, agility, and speed. she can use a number of weapons depending on the situation, but her preference is for ranged combat where she can use her magic or a bow and arrow.

📂 sigyn loves swimming. her maternal grandfather, njörðr, is a sea god; his home of nóatún is on the western coast of vanaheim, and she and her siblings spend a decent amount of time there when they're growing up, which plays a huge part in how much she enjoys being in the water.

it does NOT surprise me that there are SO MANY tabloid movies coming out being labelled as "documentaries" filled with "friend of a friend of a friend" claims or like heavily, heavily, heavily biased with a clear narrative the filmmaker wanted to push from the beginning that tells only one possible explanation of the truth.

usually if a documentary is trying really, really, really, really hard to make you think a certain way, it's a propaganda piece. you shouldn't have to force feed your audience the "right" opinion to take away from the film evidence. you should present the full story as accurately as possible with real historical evidence to back up the storyline and the audience will walk away with the right idea.

documentaries should not have an overly persuasive tone to them because you should be able to follow the facts to get to the right answer yourself. if you find yourself walking away from a documentary feeling nothing but "wow this proves exactly what i suspected to be true why arent more people angry about niche radicalizing viewpoint that most people find to be inaccurate" you should recognize that as the first step to being indoctrinated into extremist behaviors and thoughts.

People think magic in fiction is so ... unique and only a thing of fantasy, but if you think about it, it's fucking wild that we all have these little devices that display and relay messages and other content across the globe-- like including sounds, video, pictures...

And there's all this technology that goes into it, but if you took someone from a fantasy world and put them here, it would absolutely seem just as much like "magic".

in my kirby verse im trying to figure out how taranzolor can work (because i cant get over ships i liked when i was 14 lmao) since in this taranza finally makes progress in moving on after the events of TKCD (which is a LARP session gone wrong here) and in that game and star allies they bond while magolor is trying to improve himself as a person and i imagine it was initially formed on a shakier foundation? bc magolor was a better person by TKCD albeit traumatized from the events of RTDL, but yknow he still was a fuckhead and liked to mess with people and a part of him did still crave to be something more and felt aimless and meaningless without something like the master crown to run after, and i think taranza would have seen sectonia parallels in that and basically just went “i can fix him”. and its like taranza trying desperately to keep his new friend/crush from destroying himself with power and greed and an outside force tearing his body apart like sectonia did (even though ironically he is also carving out his own destruction by focusing so hard on the past).

except they both need to be fixed they both need a therapist but like AFTER they get the therapist magolor learns to be satisfied with where he is and how to cope with what happened, taranza learns to move on and not punish himself constantly for what happened with sectonia and not focus so hard on the past when he has his whole life ahead of him. and they realize they still have their futures and decide... maybe they can figure it out together if they don’t have much else (at that specific point)
