remember before the internet was available on game consoles & shit so if they wanted to update a game they had to release a whole new batch of cartridges. Also there were no DLCs if they wanted to add shit to a game they had to rerelease the game completely.

remember how that was legitimately better because it forced companies to only launch games once they were fully finished and as glitchless as they could be instead of dropping a terrible broken mess on day 1 and fixing it through patches and making you pay for content that should have been there in the first place

Generally you got games that were in a more complete state than the stuff AAA studios put out these days #deadlines mean nothing anymore because if they reach the deadline before they're done making a game they just release it anyway #and then Boom 15 gigabytes day 1 patch #that area of the game we're not done cooking ? release it later slap a price tag on it and call it DLC #game Really too incomplete and unpolished to justify getting launched ? launch it anyway but call it 'early access'

#meihua save me meihua #i usually make fandom ocs to fill the world with characters whom i think would be interesting or at least makes sense #but i like the small amount of personality i gave meihua so i wound up liking her lots #like... she looks so soft and delicate and her mannerisms do have that quality but she's a tease. she loves gossip.#she had threatened to bodily harm jc (sit down and let me patch you up or I will break your remaining good arm too)#even if she can't follow through the treat because she's annoyed with his stubbornness #she has told some high officials that she wants to castrate them for trespassing #she gets her workaholic husband to stop doing overtime by various seduction methods or very obvious 'oh woe is me' lies.#she sends their kids to him to puppy dog eye their dad to play with them or teach them. 'fuqin i don't know how please teach me'#she gets him out of his office by using the powerful combo of their twins achievement something plus dogs #'Yingying and Lulu just taught his puppy tricks. would be a couple days with a couple of friends

#or my mom #i buy her a 1500-2000 piece every christmas and after christmas we usually spend a day putting together the new one and one of the old favs #i also had long puzzle days/nights with some of my friends #sometimes putting together multiple ones in one sitting #you need a big table #there are also clear preferences for what kind of puzzle someone likes #mom and one of the friends is partial to colorful and busy preferably drawn/painted pictures #you can sort the colors and figure out little patches and then how they come together #i also know people who go from one line to the next finding the next piece in the pile #i will not mention the person who likes putting them together upside down #and the most important thing: the quality of the puzzle lies in the cutting #if the shapes are distinct it is actually fun to put together the great blue sky in the background #this is sadly rarely the case #but yaaaay for puzzles #and one of my fondest memories is putting together a 1500 pieces with my brother and one of his friends #we got high on a lazy sunday afternoon. put on some good music and lay on the floor around the puzzle piecing it together #pieceful i guess :D
