#the fact there's no way for creators to opt out is just... god#i don't upload on youtube i don't know about that process from firsthand experience#so this is something i'm saying based on what i've heard from the people who do run a channel#but it seems to me like creators have Very little control over their content on youtube ???#like recently a prozd video got automatically flagged as “for kids” despite Not being intended for young audiences#and he's tried to appeal that and youtube was like “mmmmnah it's for kids”#it sucks for like... monetization reasons and also general basic control over your content reasons#but mostly just. he as the creator and uploader of the video does not get a say in whether it's flagged for kids or not ???#my understanding is a creator can choose to flag a vid as ''for kids'' or not. but the algorithm gets the last word ?#if you've said it's Not for kids the bot can just show up like I HAVE DECIDED IT IS. and then you can't do anything about it#besides begging youtube to please reconsider which they most likely will Not#so you don't control which audiences you can reach. you don't control whether AI upscaling is used on your vids.#you don't control whether those stupid tts autotranslation dubs are put on your vids#you don't control whether your content is monetized what the hell do you even control???#that's the thing about monopolies is they get to be as shitty and user-hostile as they want because people don't have anywhere else to go#what other video platform is there. dailymotion. vimeo. who the fuck uses those.

i understand schooling in the usa sucks but i do think there reaches a point where blaming your ignorance on your education system starts ringing a little hollow. like girl you know you don't have to stop learning new things the moment you graduate highschool right. you can look things up before you say them. your browser has a search bar. the internet is at your fingertips. please........

i kinda hate how everything is trying to be a meme these days. movies have to have clippable one-liners. giffable facial expressions. songs must have a loopable 10-seconds bit for people to use as audio on their tiktoks. art can't just be art it has to be something an intern can post on a promotional social media account.

y’know for me it straight up doesn’t even occur to me to unfollow someone when they stop posting whatever it is i followed them for. unless the thing they’re posting about now is somehow actually actively upsetting to me i just accept it as a part of my life now. i’ll just scroll past it like i’m driving a car and dodging an obstacle on the road. and that part of the road is my daily commute and the thing stays on the road forever and i swerve around it every day for months instead of ever taking the initiative to get it removed. it just adds flavor i guess
