I was thinking about The Logical Vulcan Bowl Cut, and T’Pring’s absolutely gorgeous hair, and the fact that any choice a Vulcan makes has to have at least the plausible deniability of logical reasoning behind it, and what that all means regarding the idea of personal expression within a society that does value aesthetics to a degree but does not value emotions.
So. Headcanon that, for Vulcans, engaging in an intricate grooming ritual like putting your hair into an elaborate hairstyle or applying makeup is considered a form of meditation.
For one, it’s creating art that is inherently temporary-hair will be unbraided, makeup will be removed-similar to sand mandalas.
Additionally, due to the diligent care taken to disconnect from their emotions, it is not uncommon for some Vulcans to also experience a mild dissociation from their bodies during times that they are working extra hard to disconnect from their emotions, and this form of meditation serves to help reconnect the mind and the body by placing focus on the physical act of personal maintenance.
If someone very suddenly starts engaging in this sort of ritual, it can be a sign that they’re going through a difficult time-that is to say, experiencing something that threatens to elicit a strong emotional response, either positive or negative, which requires an increased level of disconnection. It’s just as common to see someone taking extra care on their hair or makeup following the birth of a new child as it is following the death of a parent.
It’s largely considered rude to comment on or inquire about this-it is instead taken as a sign that this person is acting responsibly and engaging in the necessary meditations to maintain their control.
T’Pring is serving absolute cunt at her wedding because she’s been suppressing her very strong feelings about Not Wanting To Marry Spock and Being In Love With Stonn and Hoping Stonn Doesn’t Die and Feeling Kinda Guilty About This But What Else Can She Do.
This woman is going through it, and everyone can tell. But the people around her just assume she’s basically got the Vulcan equivalent of pre-wedding jitters-suppressing affection towards her partner, and/or concern over her first experience of Pon Farr.
Similarly, Spock wears makeup every day as a more mild form of this ritual because he’s pretty much always working way too hard to suppress his feelings and Kirk is Right There and he loves him So Much and then he feels bad for loving him but That’s A Feeling Too, Fuck.
Pictured, a man who is also Going Through It.
Anyways the conclusion to this is that the cuntier a Vulcan is the closer they are to absolutely fucking losing it.

STAR TREK PRODIGY IS GAAAAYYYYY
First of all, spoilers for season two of Star Trek Prodigy. If you haven't seen this show, go watch it. I don't care if you've never seen Star Trek. You don't need to. And it's fucking awesome. Go! Go now! Go fast!
OK.
In the space of 24 hours, I have become absolutely FERAL over Maj'el and Zero. There are probably a lot of people who completely missed it, but the signs are queer - I mean, clear.
First of all, Maj'el singles Zero out as the one she most wants to get to know. That alone is a pretty obvious sign.
Then there's the physicality. From Maj'el stroking Zero's face when they reunite in episode 10, to multiple hand holds, to Maj'el being the first to touch Zero's new suit after her physical body fails, all the way to the finger-touching in the finale. It actually reminds me of CaitVi from Arcane (although this time Ella Purnell is on their side).
Also, they seem to be framed together frequently... especially if Dal and Gwyn (the show's main romantic pairing) are also being framed together.
Finally, there's the concern. This is mostly a Maj'el thing, but she gets very worried about Zero's wellbeing.
There are a few things I especially like about this pairing. First, that the person making most of the moves is a Vulcan. As Maj'el readily admits, Vulcans do have emotions, even if they try to keep them under control. This usually comes up when Vulcan characters lose control of their emotions. But here we have a more positive example, and something that must be fairly common among Vulcans. After all, Vulcans do have romantic relationships, so they must have their own ways of showing attraction to each other. Maj'el maintains the classic stoic Vulcan appearance, but she doesn't suppress her feelings towards Zero. She simply expresses them a different way, usually through touch.
Second, that this relationship is not really based on physical attraction at all. When Maj'el first develops an attraction to Zero, Zero has no physical body. It is Zero's mind that Maj'el is attracted to. Of course, this makes sense for a Vulcan. It would be logical to choose a partner based on their personality rather than appearance.
Third, they're queer. Zero has no gender and uses they/them pronouns. Even when Zero gets a physical body, it is very androgynous. But this is no issue for Maj'el. We don't know what genders Maj'el is attracted to, and it doesn't matter.
Given my weakness for sapphic romance, it's little surprise that this is probably the single aspect of Star Trek Prodigy I am most invested in. It doesn't hurt that Maj'el has become one of the most interesting characters on the show and a perfect foil for the crew's antics. I can't wait to see how she develops going forward, especially her relationship with Zero.

"charades" was such a delight for christine fans and spapel shippers!
christine being a genius researcher and a passionate explorer? ✔
spock saying that the one thing he doesn't want to suppress is his feelings for christine? ✔
christine saying that she loves spock as he is, fully validating and embracing his identity, even though he would understand her better if he was only human? ✔
spock basically sacrificing himself to ensure christine's safety and christine going on a dangerous but fascinating adventure to save spock? ✔
christine not letting that asshole vulcan professor's bullying damage her self-esteem (was that snw incarnation of korby, btw)? ✔
spock looking at christine with heart eyes each time he saw her? appearing the happiest when he was with her? being worried about her well-being? ✔
christine/spock having absolutely electric and captivating chemistry? their dynamic being genuinely well-written, well-portrayed, nuanced, profound and beautiful? ✔

🏆 , 🪷 ,🕯️ V
🕯️, ❓, 👪 Diaz
🎮, 🏠 , 💌 Rutek
V:
🏆 (biggest achievement as a child)-
V’s biggest achievement as a child was probably learning how to teleport! There were some aspects of her Q abilities that came quite easily to her, such as manifesting things, but the thing she struggled with was learning how to teleport. Her dad would teach her by standing a short distance away from her and having her try to come to him!
🪷 (a fear they have regarding love)-
Because she’s a Vulcan and their entire culture is built around suppressing the expression of one’s emotions and behaving in a purely logical manner, she finds herself quite uncomfortable with actually expressing her love. V tends to hold herself to these Vulcan standards to an extremely unhealthy degree, and has basically convinced herself that her expressing any emotion would make her a bad Vulcan, and that her mom would be disappointed in her (which she wouldn’t, but she’s not exactly around to tell V that.) V fears that expressing her love, would make her a bad Vulcan, but not expressing her love might push partners away. One of the things that helps her the most with dealing with this fear is to remind herself that she wouldn't even exist if it weren't for a relationship born from emotion rather than logic. If she was going to call herself a bad Vulcan for expressing her love, then she would also be calling her mother a bad Vulcan, which she would never do.
Another slightly less serious fear that she has about love is that any potential romantic partners would be upset about the fact that Rutek is and will always be her first priority. That’s part of the reason why Diaz is a perfect partner for her, because Diaz is extremely casual and while she cares about V, she knows her dynamic with Rutek and doesn’t mind it at all.
🕯️ (their ideal date)-
V is not one for receiving grandiose expressions of love or anything like that, she’s very happy with a quiet night of having some dinner in together and stargazing together afterward!
——————
DIAZ:
🕯️ (her ideal date)-
She’d love the opportunity to get all dolled up and go out to do something fun and exciting! She’d love to do stuff like going out dancing or to a fair, just something high-energy for her to do! She also loves to get treated like a princess and pampered and doted on!
❓ (how important honesty is to her)-
She’s not super passionate about the issue, but she does want to know that she can trust the people around her. Being a part of a Starfleet crew means that they have to work together and they have to be able to trust each other. Her whole deal with honesty is that she values honesty among friends/allies, but does not mind strategic deception of an enemy or foe. She sees loyalty as being the honorable path, and she views lying to a friend as a disloyal, and thus dishonorable, act.
🧑🧑🧒 (if she has a good relationship with her family)-
Diaz has an excellent relationship with her immediate family and uncle, but she’s not too close to her grandfather Kor. Whenever the crew visits earth for any reason, Diaz always goes and visits her home in Mexico City and spends time with her family, and while the crew is away from earth, they have had several run-ins with her uncle and his ship and crew! Whenever she visits home, she loves to cook and go out with her mother Marina (who she calls Mama) and she always takes the chance to spar with her father Kolor, son of Kor (who she calls Vav, which is Klingon for father!) She is always very playful and silly with her parents, and her father always knows how to rile her up! She doesn’t get to spend as much time with her uncle, Kirshos, son of Kor, (who she calls Tío Kirshos or TennuS Kirshos interchangeably,) but whenever they do cross paths, she’s always excited to see him. He is very much the fun uncle to her, the type who would bring her something like a toy drum set or a kazoo as a child purely to annoy his older brother. While Diaz’s father taught her most of what she knows about Klingon culture and history, he wasn’t able to teach her how to fight as much due to his legs becoming paralyzed over the course of time. He’s learned to adapt and fight in his wheelchair, but he wasn’t able to teach Krish’na as well as he would have liked. However, Kirshos did help his brother out and helped teach Krish’na how to fight, so she learned everything from the both of them together! The three of them love to roughhouse with each other. Her mother is the opposite, and she’s great at mellowing Krish’na out! While Marina was always very casual about cooking, she noticed that Krish’na absolutely fell in love with the craft, and so she would always encourage her to pursue it! Marina taught Diaz the little bit of cooking that she knew, but would get her lessons and recipes! The pair love to go to the beach together too, and Diaz likes to play pranks and stuff on her Mama while they’re there.
——————
RUTEK:
🎮 (their favorite hobby and if they still like it)-
Rutek has three main hobbies! Their absolute favorite hobby that they’ve been passionate about since childhood is horticulture! They pride themselves on their massive collection and near-encyclopedic knowledge of plants from all over the galaxy! They spend hours tending to their plants, and their room is so full of them that it looks like a jungle in there! They like to collect rare and unique plants, and will often ask V to bring them back any native plants from planets that she visits on away missions! Despite loving rare plants, they will grow pretty much anything! Rutek grows a lot of plants that commonly serve a function, but they don’t really use the plants for their functions. Like for example, they grow a lot of herbs and spices, but they don’t actually use them in food, since they normally just replicate meals. The plants are just part of their collection. However, they do allow Diaz to use their spices in the food she cooks instead of replicating them, since genuinely grown food does tend to taste better than replicated food. So if she’s cooking and needs something, Rutek is happy to give her a cutting or let her pick her own of whatever she needs. Rutek also loves to steal V’s test tubes to use to propagate their plants in as well! V just pretends not to notice and just summons or replicates more.
Rutek’s other main hobbies are kind of a two in one. They love both writing and drawing! They keep a physical journal that they write in. They write everything down in it, from diary entries to poems to stories to large swaths of information about plants. They also draw in it! They are a fairly good artist with a realism focused style, but they never really share their art. They draw from observation, mostly. They don't really consider themselves an "artist" per se, but they aren’t bad at it at all! Their favorite things to draw are plants and people, and they’ve got several little sketches of V in there, as well as some of the other crew members! In a similar thought process to V’s mother, they believe that writing and drawing and creating art in general is not an illogical activity, but rather it is actually a helpful tool to aid in emotional regulation and control. Like sculpting and jewelry-making was to T’Raal, Rutek uses writing and sketching as a way to almost meditate!
💌 (how they deal with making hard decisions)-
Rutek has ALWAYS been extremely passive, and prefers to be a follower rather than a leader, so their first reaction when faced with a difficult decision is usually to defer to a figure they see as more of an authority on the subject. If they have no other choice, however, and have to make this decision themselves, they usually go with the most factually logical choice, as per Vulcan teachings! But yeah, their first instinct is very typically to try and pass the decision on to somebody else.
🏠 (what their childhood home was like)-
I’ve actually got a very crude little sketch I’ve done of it, as well as a ton of reference concepts saved of it! It’s one of those things where I know exactly how it looks in my head, but I’ve never got the energy to draw it and plan it out on paper. But It’s across the street from where V used to live as a child, and it’s right on the beach. Like, if you walk out directly behind the house, you’re on the beach. It’s next to some woods on top of a cliff, and V and Rutek used to climb that cliff and play in the woods all the time. There is also a little hidden cove that is separated by parts of the cliff, which the pair claimed as their little secret hangout spot! The house itself has primarily glass walls, but the glass is the type where you can flip a switch and it frosts up, so there’s privacy if desired! I’ve changed the design slightly since the last sketch I made of it, but when you walk into the house, the bedrooms are lined up on the left side, and on the right side of the house is the dining room, Rutek’s father D’Shar’s study, and the meditation room. The middle of the house has the living room and then all the way at the back of the house is the kitchen, which is very large because Rutek’s mother T’Van is a chef and has a bunch of gadgets and pots and pans. Rutek’s bedroom is at the front of the house, and it has a joint bathroom with the bedroom that used to serve as a guest room before the family took V in and turned it into her bedroom. T’Van and D’Shar’s bedroom is at the very back and the glass walls allow them to overlook the beach! When they lived in separate houses, V and Rutek would still play together in their individual bedrooms, because they both were located at the front of their respective houses and they could see each other through the glass walls! They would either communicate telepathically or just call each other and play together even though they were across the street from each other. Design-wise, the house leans into Rutek’s family’s main color scheme of white, silver, and green. It uses a lot of warm, beige colors and light colored wood, and they tend to be olive green accents throughout the house and things like furniture, decor, and bedding! It actually uses a lot of wood elements, often in very organic shapes! Also, many of the decorations in their home are sculptures made by T’Raal and gifted to T’Van and D’Shar since the three of them were very close, having been friends since childhood.

Rough Timeline For Sybok
NOTE: Given the fluidity of Star Trek canon the exact details such as ages, the role Sarek played in Sybok's early life, etc. I am open to discussing with partners in fact I respect it. This is primarily a rough timeline for my own reference and to use as a starting point when plotting.
Sybok was raised primarily by mother, T'Rea, and her clan. As to be expected from a former paramour* of Sarek, T'Rea was somewhat unconventional in her habits and raising of her son refusing to have him be bonded in childhood. A practice while considered the norm in much of Vulcan society is not without some controversy with some like T'Rea viewing it as illogical and primitive. T'Rea was also a Reldai, meaning her family could trace it's roots to before Surak and once held religious and political power.
Sybok's mother died when Sybok was in early adolescence. Despite being an exceptional student there were certain inconsistencies in Sybok's education aggravated by the upheaval caused by T'Rea's death and his being sent to join Sarek's household which left him vulnerable to certain feelings of vulnerability and even anger.
These unsuppressed emotions were not wholly 'negative' as Sybok did come to genuinely love his siblings Spock and Michael. His relationship with his siblings is significant as Sybok was able to observe first hand how they were treated differently than he was often for no apparent 'logical' reason. Furthermore many assumed that given Sybok's social status and being a full-blooded Vulcan he would approve or partake in such behavior which he always rebuffed.
As Sybok grew into adulthood he continued to excel academically but show signs of poor emotional control (Poor to Vulcan standards anyway). ** Sybok had also begun to make connections with others who had their doubts about Surak's teaching or at the very least did not embrace logic as the ultimate answer. By the time he'd reached adulthood Sybok was fully aware of his inability to fit into Vulcan society as expected and elected to leave Vulcan. *** It was during this period he entered a relationship with the human pirate, Angel.
At some point Sybok made the decision to return to Vulcan to advocate against the suppression of emotion. The civil unrest Sybok and his followers posed led to their imprisonment.
*It's possible Sybok's mother was Sarek's intended or who he was bonded to according to Vulcan custom with the engagement having been broken off for any number of factors.
** It's possible Sarek blamed himself for Sybok's emotional nature.
*** It's likely Sybok didn't inform anyone of his departure hoping to do so discreetly and without causing a scandal.

Okay, i have some thoughts on the Spock/Chapel thing so spoilers, obvi.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but i dont think Chapel did anything that wrong. Yeah, she probably should have communicated with Spock better. He’s supposed to be her best friend at the very least, she should want to tell him. She likes Spock, we know she wants to be with him despite what she said to Boimler about not wanting to influence him. she didn’t say we’re through, though. She said, if i need to leave you, i wont fight it. Which to me, sounds like if it comes down to us or me, i choose me. Which she absolutely should! This is her dream! If the long distance was going to get in the way of her happiness, then they probably weren’t ready to commit anyways.
But I understand Spocks perspective too. He is, basically, a teenager when it comes to emotions. Living with them is different than suppressing them like hes been taught his whole life. We know vulcan emotions are stronger than humans too. His happiness must be like ecstasy for us. That excitement of a budding romance must feel like the epitome of love. When his heart is broken it must feel like being ripped in two. As such he put everything into this relationship. In his own song he admits he changed for her because he thought they were on the same page. He blames himself for turning his back on his disciplines for her. So you guys, please don’t change who you are for someone. Especially when that someone loves you for who you are, like Chapel did.
I hope they don’t use this for Spock to go full vulcan. I feel like he could use a better excuse than because he got dumped from a weeks old relationship. Like maybe he goes a little crazy in the heat of battle and they lose someone because of it? Idk.
But i love this development for Chapel. I’ve been hoping for her to get some non-spock related content. Though, now i fear they’re going to make it about her love for korby, which we know will come. I just hope its not right away and they let her be all smart and free for a bit. And more scenes with Ortegas or M’Benga. I love their dynamic. And same with Spock. I want more scenes with him and the other crew.
Overall, I don’t really blame either of them. Chapel should’ve communicated more directly and Spock shouldn’t have changed who he was for her and put so much pressure on it.
#look i was never a spapel shipper#but i loved Chapel and Spock as characters#and i actually like Spock exploring his human side#it makes sense to me that he would after leaving vulcan and working on a primarily human ship#star trek#star trek strange new worlds#strange new worlds#snw#spapel#spock#chapel#nurse chapel#christine chapel#ill admit i was afraid to post this because ppl are so passionate and i just don’t have the temperament to be yelled at on the internet

Praetor’s Pride - Part 1
This fic is inspired by a poll made by bigblissandlove1 which can be found here. So uh...yep. I have no idea exactly how many parts this will end up being, but I have a vague outline, and at absolute minimum, there will be eight. This could easily end up longer than that if my brain gets verbose about it. And we all know that’s very possible, so... Romulan words found via my usual source here.
For anyone checking my masterlists, this will be on the TNG Masterlist since Nemesis was a TNG movie.
Cross-posted to AO3 here.
~*~
Praetor Hiren (ST: Nemesis) x Reader
[A/N: Later chapters will have smut, so 18+ ONLY, MINORS DNI!!!]
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of a Human/Romulan relationship, Letant is a good wing man, first meetings, first impressions, Hiren is from “Nemesis,” but this isn’t set during “Nemesis.”
~*~
Hiren stepped behind his bride and draped the thick, midnight blue fabric of his outer robe over her bare shoulders - the final step in a Romulan state wedding and the one that officially marked his claim to her. The color contrasted beautifully with the white dress that adorned her - a Human custom that had been added to this ceremonial tying of two cultures.
When he circled back around to her front, she looked up at him with such open admiration that he couldn’t suppress the urge to cup her cheeks in his palms.
“Before all of Romulus, the Federation, and the rest of the galaxy, I declare you husband and wife,” the officiator announced as Hiren’s forehead touched hers. “You are now of one life, one heart, one future. May your bond be strong.”
Hiren felt his wife’s hands come to rest on his chest, and his joy drowned out the sound of applause from the crowd. The world narrowed to just the two of them.
“Jol-ao au.” She whispered the words against his lips - words that had taken so long for her to say the first time. Hiren treasured them every time they spilled from her lips, clutching them greedily to his breast even as he assured her most ardently that he felt the same.
“Jol-ao au, e’lev,” the Praetor murmured capturing his wife’s mouth with his in a passionate kiss. That was one Human custom which Hiren believed more Romulans should experience. It had taken quite some time for her to become comfortable enough with him to allow such intimacy. There wasn’t a single doubt in his mind that she was worth the wait. After all, a single year was a small price to pay, especially for a Romulan.
-- One Year Earlier --
“I still don’t understand why I have to attend this function. Why would it matter if one less Federation diplomat shows up? There’s a veritable herd of them here already. I doubt the illustrious Romulan Praetor would even notice one less Human,” I groused as I fidgeted with the sleeves of my dress uniform.
“Our presence honors the growing relationship between Romulus and the Federation,” Lojal stated in his ever-logical manner. The hum of the turbolift underscored his calm demeanor, and I took a deep, slow breath.
“I know, but I just hate crowds, especially those at stuffy state functions,” I murmured. Lojal looked at me with a raised eyebrow. “I’m perfectly aware that it’s an illogical position to take given my profession, but I can’t help it. I enjoy the negotiating and the cooperation it takes to solidify relations between two groups of people, but I just don’t like being forced to listen to a room full of arrogant bureaucrats posturing and making speeches.”
“Understandable. The posturing can become...tedious,” the Ambassador admitted as the lift opened. “However, this alliance is essential for the stability of the quadrant. On the ‘bright side,’ as you call it, with the plethora of people in attendance, you will likely not be required to do more than nod politely and consume your dinner.”
“That’s true. You always know just how to lift my mood, my friend,” I said with a small smile at the Vulcan at my side. We walked the final few feet in silence together to the transporter room.
Beaming down to Romulus’s surface was no small accomplishment. Very few outsiders had been allowed to do so prior to this alliance. I’d met with several Romulan Senators since the war with the Dominion, but as far as I knew, nobody from the Federation had met with their Praetor. All anyone knew was that his name was Hiren and that he would be in attendance tonight.
Stepping onto the transporter pad with Lojal and four other diplomats, we blinked and found ourselves being greeted by Romulan centurions. In short order, we were escorted to the banquet hall and to our respective seats. Lojal was seated to my left, but the seat to my right was empty thus far. A few long moments passed before it was filled by someone I was quite familiar with. We spotted each other at the same time.
“Why, hello again, my friend! Welcome to Romulus.” The Senator exclaimed as he lifted my hand to his lips. “I had hoped I would be graced with the pleasure of but a few minutes of your company this evening, but it seems as though I am much more fortunate than I had anticipated.”
“Senator Letant, what a pleasure to see you again.” For once when speaking to a government official, I meant it. Letant was one of the more entertaining people I’d dealt with in my career. He never hesitated to speak his mind, allowing his wit and acerbic humor to come out to play with almost inappropriate frequency. One of his favorite activities was trying to draw laughter from me when stoicism or respectful silence were required. He was often damnably successful at it, too. “Perhaps I’ll survive this event after all.”
“I shall drag you through it kicking and screaming - or I should say giggling,” he promised with a mirthful little laugh. “Besides, there is a close friend I’d like to introduce you to–”
“Oh no, not this again,” I groaned. Letant had tried to set me up with several of his colleagues, but none had been quite right. To be more precise, most had been disgusted by my humanity.
“Where is the harm in me showing off my beautiful, intelligent, unbonded friend to those whom I believe might be good matches? As a Senator, I have the ears of many eligible, unbonded Romulans. I admit, my previous attempts were with people who turned out to be wholly unworthy of you, but–”
“No, Senator. Forgive me, but I don’t want to be humiliated again.” The firmness in my voice made his smile droop a fraction. No doubt he was remembering the last time one of his suggestions had called me a hevam and sneered at me as though I was no more than pond scum. I suspected for some time that the reason the man had gone missing was my friend’s ire on my behalf, but I didn’t have any proof. “I don’t relish being told that I’m a poor substitute for a Romulan woman yet again. You know as well as I that that is likely the only sentiment I am going to inspire in any Romulan men.”
“Now, that is utterly ridiculous. Were I looking for a mate, I would consider myself quite fortunate to have your attention for even a few moments. I am not asking you to marry him or even to share a drink with him. All I ask is that you allow me to introduce you. You needn’t even converse with him beyond a greeting if you find he is not to your taste,” the Senator murmured, drawing a sigh from deep in my chest. Letant knew me well enough to recognize the resignation seeping from my every pore. “If you don’t like him, I promise you, I’ll drop the subject.”
“Fine. I’ll do this for you,” I capitulated, “but if this is another failure, you owe me a drink.”
“And if I’m correct, you’ll come to dinner at my home in two days’ time when there’s a break from all this pomp and circumstance,” he bargained, and after a moment’s hesitation, I offered him my hand to shake on it. A gleeful smile made his dimples even more evident. “You won’t regret it, lovely.”
“Easy for you to say,” I muttered just as a hush began to fall over the crowd. Our eyes all shifted to the double doors as they swung open to reveal the President of the Federation and a gray-haired Romulan in opulent, dark green robes walking side-by-side.
“All rise for Praetor Hiren of the Romulan Empire and President Inyo of the United Federation of Planets.” The announcement nearly echoed through the room, and the shuffling of chairs and fabric heralded its observance by all the attendees. As I got to my feet, Letant leaned close to me and whispered in my ear.
“That’s him.”
“That’s who? What do you mean?” I replied curiously.
“Hiren. He’s the one I want you to meet.” I turned my head so sharply I nearly gave myself whiplash. Searching his face for any sign that he was teasing me, I was astonished to see nothing but sincerity.
Letant was serious. I turned my gaze back toward the procession of high-ranking officials only to find Hiren’s eyes already on me. We regarded each other for barely a moment, but when he looked away, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding and noticed my cheeks were burning.
What the hell was that?
“I take it you aren’t opposed, then?” The Senator sounded smug as usual, even though I didn’t deign to answer him. We resumed our seats as the speeches began, and, falling into our usual routine, Letant and I took turns attempting to break each other’s stoic resolve with whispered quips while Lojal gave us the occasional disapproving glance.
My attention shifted, though, when the Praetor stood to give his welcome address and officially begin the evening. Letant muttered something in my ear as he normally did, but for once I didn’t hear a word.
“...as we stand together, resolved to solidify the friendship between our people. To each acknowledge the strength of the other and offer support where weaknesses may appear.” Hiren’s voice was strong, authoritative, and oddly pleasant to the ear. The way his voice traveled over words, placing emphasis and importance with his mere cadence sounded almost musical. What would it be like to hear him speak Romulan without the aid of a Universal Translator matrix?
I was roused from my thoughts as the audience began to applaud, and I belatedly joined in. As Hiren took his seat once more, a swarm of servers entered the hall and began placing food before all the present dignitaries. His eyes swept over to our table again, and I looked away quickly so he wouldn’t catch me staring.
“Well? Your assessment?” Letant asked with a hint of mischief in his tone.
“He’s...well-spoken.” To say any more than that would have been extremely revealing. After last time, I wasn’t sure I was ready for that sort of vulnerability again.
“Is that all? Your eyes were practically glued to him for the duration of his speech. Come, come, am I not your friend? Give me your true opinion,” he cajoled as he graciously poured a glass of Romulan ale for me. When I did no more than remain silent, he smirked. “I shall proceed one aspect at a time then.”
“Letant, I am not discussing the Praetor with y–”
“His appearance?” He really wasn’t giving this up tonight. “Indulge me just this once.”
“It’s never ‘just this once’ with you, Letant, but fine,” I muttered. “He looks distinguished and not quite as harsh as I would’ve expected.”
“Tell me about his voice. You seemed quite focused when he was speaking.” The Senator’s eyes practically sparkled as he took a sip of his ale, the bastard.
“It’s nice. Smooth, strong...” I trailed off not wanting to admit my curiosity about hearing him without the translator, but Letant didn’t give up. He could tell there was something I was holding back.
“He’s looking forward to meeting you, you know.” I froze with my glass halfway to my lips and looked at him for an explanation to his casual statement. “The Praetor is a busy man. I assumed he would enjoy at least a small conversation with a beautiful woman, so naturally I told him about you and your accomplishments. He was quite intrigued even before I showed him your picture. Naturally, he was quite happy to ensure that he left sufficient time in his schedule tonight for socializing so that he might meet you.”
“You showed him what?”
“Well, he needed to know who to keep an eye out for. He said you were quite possibly the loveliest woman he’d laid eyes on in all his years,” Letant crowed triumphantly, and I let out an exasperated sigh. “Forgive me if I overstepped. I simply wished to present you in the best light possible. I owe you that much at least, my dear. For now, though, put it out of your mind. Tell me what I’ve missed since I saw you last.”
The rest of the dinner was filled with pleasant conversation and plenty of Letant’s own stories, as well. As soon as the time to move to the reception hall and mingle came, however, the Senator had me on my feet almost quicker than I could blink.
“What are–?”
“My Lord Praetor, it is an honor to see you this evening,” Letant said, but the older man let out a low, velvety laugh that sent a rather pleasant shiver up my spine. I hadn’t even been aware of his approach, yet there he stood. He was taller up close than I’d anticipated.
“You know you needn’t address me so formally, old friend,” he said grasping Letant’s shoulder amiably. His gaze shifted to me and he stood a little taller. “Ah, am I to assume that this is the lovely woman you wished me to meet?”
Vaguely I heard Letant conducting the formal introduction, but all I could seem to focus on was Hiren as he took a slow step closer to me and gave me a warm smile. His eyes were so...kind. Oh no. That spelled trouble for me.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Praetor,” I stated giving him a polite nod, but a warm smile stretched his lips as he waved me off.
“Please, call me Hiren, lhhei,” he said with remarkable deference considering that he was the head of an empire. I’d only heard such a formal address when I first met Senator Letant. Perhaps my friend was right. Maybe he wasn’t like the other Romulans I’d been introduced to thus far. “Letant has told me much about you. Perhaps before the night is through we could spend some time discussing philosophy? I understand that you studied the subject extensively.”
“Yes, I did. I’d enjoy that, but only if you have the time. Running an empire makes you quite a busy man, and you’re going to be in high demand tonight.”
“I’m never too busy to entertain such an enchanting lady. Forgive me, I must make my rounds - diplomatic obligations, you understand - but I will find you again before the night is out, lhhei.” His eyes sparkled as he brought my hand to his lips. It wasn’t the traditional kiss to the knuckles that I expected, but rather what I might expect of someone who had only ever seen kisses depicted in movies. He touched my fingers to his mouth for a long moment, keeping his eye contact constant as he did so before releasing me. A bolt of warmth wound its way up my spine just before he let go.
It was charming in a way. He had clearly made an attempt to learn something of Human customs even if he hadn’t quite gotten it right on his first try. That was better than any others Letant had introduced me to by a long shot.
Damn it to hell, I didn’t want to like him, but he was making it very difficult.
“...Your opinion on him now, my friend?” Letant murmured smugly in my ear as we watched him disappear into a crowd of eager ambassadors and cultural representatives. I didn’t need to answer. He of all people would know exactly how I felt from my expression alone.
“He made a good first impression, so...tentatively positive for the moment,” I replied, and the Senator looped his arm with mine.
“Excellent! Now, let’s get the rest of this accursed socializing over with and free ourselves of our obligations all the earlier.” Accepting my fate, I allowed Letant to drag me through the crowd with him.
~*~*~
Romulan Words:
Jol-ao au = I love you.
e’lev = dear, darling
hevam = human (derogatory)
lhhei = madam

Me to Paul Wesley the most of this episode:
He was cahrming and funny enough and the overall personality is more or less right, but he's just too frowney and his jokes are too deadpan. Where's that mischievous smile that lights up the room?
I'm afraid he can't actually reach THAT level of charm, but I'd settle for an honest effort. It got a bit better towards the end I guess. This time I'm willing to write it off to this being a Jim from a darker future that might have suppressed his cheerfulness somewhat. But I hope they do better in his future appearances. Kirk not having that hint of a smile pretty much whenever not under an immediate threat is like Spock not lifting eyebrows :D.
I liked the Romulan being as emotionally unhinged as she was, she's the type of person you can point at and say "See, this is why Vulcans need to be the way they are".
In the end, my urge to give La'an a hug was so strong, that I was literally stroking her image on my laptop screen while she was crying, and crying along a bit, no kidding :D. As a rather lonely person myself, her connecting with someone just to lose that connection immediately hit pretty close to home (that never happened to me, but I can easily imagine how devastated I'd be if it did).
Overall enjoyed the episode, so far my fave this season.

Betazoid Alien Fanlore/Headcanons: Betazoids vs Offworlders
Humans aren't as aware of their feelings as Betazoids because they're not used to their emotions affecting others. While on Betazed, everyone understands that their feelings will be sensed by those around them so they're more mindful of their emotions. Betazoids control their feelings like we control our facial features, they're still there (they're not suppressed like Vulcans), and they are just more preformative. They're aware that they're being observed, so they always have that in mind. Not to say that they don't express themselves, just that they're more aware of their expression.
In Betazoid culture, because their feelings are felt and often shared by those around them, large groups can often have more extreme emotions than an individual would on their own. Any location with a group of liked minded people will be very emotional. (Kind of like how a sober person will sometimes act drunk if surrounded by drunk people) their excitement is contagious. Not every large gathering of people will have this effect. It’s specifically when several people share the same emotion. So hospitals, for instance, don't really have this effect because there are many mixed emotions (ex. Sadness and loss when someone dies, excitement at positive diagnosis, fear for patients in surgery, etc.). While a nightclub or a concert will probably be a lot of very excited people. This effect is seen on Earth as well to a lesser degree, but on Betazed, it isn't just a placebo. There’s a literal exchange of emotions taking place. This is often why betazoids get a reputation for being very emotional and expressive. Individuals aren't actually any more emotional than humans and are actually much more emotionally aware than most species. When humans or offworlders visit Betazed, they see this effect and assume it's due to betazoids as a species being very emotional rather than considering the results of having multiple empaths in one space.
This "Emotional Transfer" makes disagreements on Betazed unpleasant. Debates and arguments become more heated as the opposing parties feel the negative emotions of their opponents, fueling the fire and making conflicts last longer. [This in part plays into Deanna's disagreements with her mother]. While it is possible to feel another person's emotion while maintaining your own feelings, it's difficult to disconnect the emotions you're experiencing from the ones that belong to you. This can create a disassociative response, which, if left unchecked, can become a disorder in betazoids.
Because most everyone can feel eachother’s feelings, this results in betazoids as a species being a very genuine people on average. There's very little point in saying something that you don't mean because everyone will know that you're lying, so betazoids are more willing to express difficult truths as they have no alternative. It's very difficult to use deception on Betazed without shielding your mind from others. Thus, the action of shielding is now seen as suspicious as a result. Because the only time individuals can lie is over long distance communication, business transactions are generally done in person. As individuals are mentally linked to their Imzadi, as well as very close loved ones, some emotions can still be expressed during distance video calls. But for individuals that don't share such bonds, talking long distance is often awkward or uncomfortable. This is also due to verbal language being uncommon. Written messages are more common when communicating over long distances but are still met with suspicion. Most Betazoids would much rather meet in person. This results in betazoids being family based, with off planet travel being uncommon outside of vacations. This is partially why so few betazoids join Starfleet. [Deanna joined starfleet because they were very accepting of her disability, and she found verbal communication to be quite comfortable for her. As her father died when she was young, and her mother traveled often as an ambassador, Deanna had few things tying her to Betazed.]
Because most everyone can read minds on Betazed when betazoids interact with nontelepathic species they often don't say what's on their mind, expecting the offworlder to be able to read their thoughts or feelings (they mostly just forget to audibly say what they're thinking). [This made Deanna's life very difficult growing up on Betazed because even when she could talk to someone they wouldn't always express themselves causing her to rely heavily on her empathic abilities to understand what someone was thinking. This is why she's so considerate of others when her mother is speaking telepathically onboard the Enterprise]. Alternatively, sometimes Betazoids will over describe their feelings to offworlders in an effort to be 'inclusive'. Because nonempathic species don't often openly describe their feelings in everyday conversations, this tactic is often more confusing than when they undershare, it's also just generally comes off as condescending.
Because possessing Telepathic and Empathic abilities is considered the norm, Betazoids view humans as a lesser species for the most part (similiarly to how Vulcans view humans). They see humans as being adaptive for being able to communicate without telepathy, and they recognize that humans' hearing is superior to their own, but both points are still seen as obsolete compared to telepathic capabilities. They still respect humans intellect, and aren't often as hauty as vulcans, but they view their physical senses to be inferior to their own [This is in part why Deanna's lack of abilities was viewed so poorly]. They're actually not super mean about humans' eyesight as we just view things differently they do, so while they can see things we can't, the same goes for vice versa.

I feel Bill's little comparison of the 12th Doctor to Mr Spock is not acknowledged enough for how accurate it is.
On a surface level: Both are alien though able to pass as human. Both deeply value logic and seem in control and calm most of the time. Both are sci-fi.
However, on a deeper level:
This specific iteration of the Doctor struggles most with his emotions, his rage. 12, like Spock, attempts to ignore or suppress his emotions in an attempt to help him during adventures. 12, like Spock, is definitely seen as other, viewed either as too emotional when he goes to extremes or not emotional enough. (See Bill's second episode with 12.)
Not to mention the Doctor comes from a similar society to Spock. Both have a distaste for human emotion, are touch telepathy and sensitive in that way and both Vulcans and Gallifreyans view Spock and the Doctor in disgrace due to their unherant being.
Some could also cite the Eighth Doctor's "half human" nature. As Spock us half human, half Vulcan.
Spock also strives for connection, just like 12 in Bill's season. Despite everything the Doctor still wishes to connect with who he thinks is the only person who might understand him, Missy.
I don't believe Bill knew how accurate her comparison was when she made it. Congratulations to her nonetheless.

Okay, I have to say that as much as I enjoyed today's shenanigans, I really didn't like that the moment Spock's Vulcan DNA gets removed he starts acting all illogic? Like, it's always been established that Vulcans have emotions and work very hard to suppress them, but none of that happens on a biological level, only on a mental and cultural one. So having all his control vanish because his DNA gets rewritten feels wrong and also plays into Star Trek's one race=one thing, the Klingons are warriors, the Vulcan's do logic, Tellarites are rude, etc. In principal, a human who'd be raised on Vulcan could achieve a similar level of control minus the telepathy stuff. And we do in fact see something similar with Michael in Disco (of course she spend her early years with humans, hence why she isn't as emotional control-y as other Vulcans, but I think the fact that she seems so close early in the series at least points in the direction)
I think the episode could have easily been re-written to accomodate this, by having the shuttle accident remove his mental control (I feel like this happened to Tuvok like three times). You can still have shouty, hungy, horny Spock and a similar conflic with his mother-in-law, while really only loosing the ear reveal at the end and the touching of the very hot pot (also poor Amanda!) Even the mind meld could be explained as it being too dangerous to do with a Vulcan who just lost all control.

The Greek Interpreter pt 1
I remember this one. Yet again, I remember details, but no solutions. But I might recall more as I read along. I've definitely read this one multiple times and seen the Granada version of it. I will absolutely try not to spoil if I remember anything that gives the ending away.
I actually find it surprising how many times I have read some of these and how the thing I almost always forget is the solution. Weirdly, with Agatha Christie mysteries the who and how is usually the thing that sticks in my mind, apparently with Sherlock Holmes, I remember weird details rather than the relevant stuff.
Anyway, on with the tale:
During my long and intimate acquaintance with Mr Sherlock Holmes I had never heard him refer to his relations, and hardly ever to his own early life. This reticence upon his part had increased the somewhat inhuman effect which he produced upon me, until sometimes I found myself regarding him as an isolated phenomenon, a brain without a heart, as deficient in human sympathy as he was pre-eminent in intelligence.
The first thing I thought was 'Spock', because that post kept going across my dash a little while ago about how many 'surprise' relatives Spock had during TOS. And this whole thing reads very vulcan. I'm going to assume that's because Spock was intentionally or subconsciously based on Sherlock Holmes.
However, here we get the modern and very uncomplimentary image of Sherlock as 'a brain without a heart', which we've seen multiple times to be untrue. I'd say that anyone can fake empathy and kindness, and that a lot of people affect having more of these than they actually feel, that in many ways is part of the social contract. Perhaps I am cynical.
But particularly in the case of Mary Sutherland, where Sherlock threatens her stepfather and appears genuinely angry on her behalf, and on several other occasions where he refers to villains in very scathing and angry terms, we see evidence of feeling that seems genuinely emotional on behalf of someone else. That seems less potentially fake to me than the gentleness. (I'm not saying the gentleness is faked, I'm just saying that there's more of an argument to say that he could/would be faking with that - to put people at ease, to get more information out of them - as opposed to the more negative emotions he declares to himself or to Watson in private which have little purpose other than to vent emotion.)
However, Watson's being a little unfair, here. Also, his reasoning is faulty.
His aversion to women and his disinclination to form new friendships were both typical of his unemotional character, but not more so than his complete suppression of every reference to his own people.
None of this is a sign of someone who doesn't have emotions. These are just signs of a queer introvert with a complicated relationship with their family, Watson. In fact, I'd also suggest that someone who effectively never mentions their family probably has quite strong emotions about that subject. You don't avoid talking about something you don't care about one way or the other.
I get that this is all set up, but I just wanted to say.
...one day, to my very great surprise, he began to talk to me about his brother.
Mycroft time is upon us!
In a bit we're going to get to one of the character descriptions that sticks in my brain the most out of all the things I have ever read. It's Watson's description of Mycroft and Roald Dahl's description of the Twits. Those two haunt me to this day.
...the conversation, which had roamed in a desultory, spasmodic fashion from golf clubs to the causes of the change in the obliquity of the ecliptic, came round at last to the question of atavism and hereditary aptitudes.
I swear I'm not going to quote every paragraph of this part. But this is such a lot of words. 'Obliquity of the ecliptic'? I literally work with words and have a degree in them and I had to look that up.
Wikipedia tells me: 'Obliquity of the ecliptic is the term used by astronomers for the inclination of Earth's equator with respect to the ecliptic, or of Earth's rotation axis to a perpendicular to the ecliptic.'
The ecliptic being the orbital plane of the earth.
So it's the angle between the axis the earth spins around and the circle of the earth's orbit around the sun. Which... has Holmes learnt that the earth revolves around the sun now?
So I guess what Watson is saying is 'we were having a very clever discussion like very clever people'.
But now they've gone onto the classic nature vs nurture debate.
Watson is all for nurture, while Holmes is arguing for nature because... drumroll... of his brother Mycroft!
"My dear Watson," said he, "I cannot agree with those who rank modesty among the virtues. To the logician all things should be seen exactly as they are, and to underestimate one's self is as much a departure from truth as to exaggerate one's own powers. When I say, therefore, that Mycroft has better powers of observation than I, you may take it that I am speaking the exact and literal truth."
Holmes has an excellent sense of self-worth, and I like how this centres the fact that he is realistic about it. He doesn't believe in false modesty, but he is willing to acknowledge some people are better than him even at the things he prides himself on.
"The Diogenes Club is the queerest club in London, and Mycroft one of the queerest men."
Yep. That's Mycroft. This is not the description I was talking about above. But boy, how the evolution of language changes the potential meanings of a text for readers.
"But he has no ambition and no energy. He will not even go out of his way to verify his own solution, and would rather be considered wrong than take the trouble to prove himself right."
Mycroft is also very relatable. He could try to prove himself right, but why bother when his chair is so comfortable and he already knows he's right? There's no point. And he'd have to move, ugh. I actually quite like Mycroft as a character, even in the original stories, and I like that he cares so little about other people's opinions that he doesn't care if they think he's wrong. Mycroft is a hobbit and you cannot convince me otherwise. He sits in his comfy hobbit hole, smokes pipeweed and eats food and people watches, and doesn't want anything to do with adventure, no sir. Why would he want that when there's a comfy chair, a nice pair of slippers and second breakfast about to be served?
Mycroft Holmes was a much larger and stouter man than Sherlock. His body was absolutely corpulent, but his face, though massive, had preserved something of the sharpness of expression which was so remarkable in that of his brother. His eyes, which were of a peculiarly light, watery grey, seemed to always retain that far-away, introspective look which I had only observed in Sherlock's when he was exerting his full powers. "I am glad to meet you, sir," said he, putting out a broad, fat hand like the flipper of a seal.
Here it is. The description that will stick with me forever: 'like the flipper of a seal'. That's just so... very evocative. And unflattering. All those wet, clammy implications. Also, Watson really wants you to know Mycroft is fat, btw. In case you didn't notice. But yeah, not a flattering description, but not as judgemental as his descriptions of other people. There is a certain respect in this description - until we get to that seal simile. Yeah... the seal thing really gets to me. It makes me shudder a bit every time. It's strange, because I always remember the bit before as being more scathing, but it's actually quite matter of fact, if repetitive. It's the seal thing that really adds a weird edge of mild disgust to the whole thing. And I love seals.
Is there an animated version of Sherlock Holmes where they're all animals and Mycroft is a seal? There should be.
"By the way, Sherlock, I expected to see you round last week, to consult me over that Manor House case. I thought you might be a little out of your depth." "No, I solved it," said my friend, smiling.
The sibling energy is strong in this whole exchange. Just that competitive little edge they have with each other.
"An old soldier, I perceive," said Sherlock. "And very recently discharged," remarked the brother. "Served in India, I see." "And a non-commissioned officer." "Royal Artillery, I fancy," said Sherlock. "And a widower." "But with a child." "Children, my dear boy, children."
Just the utter rhythm of this and the clear fact that this is a game they have played with each other for years, both trying to outdo the other, but it all seems quite amicable. It reminds me of playing games in the back of the car with my big brother on long car journeys. He was always better than me at them, but we still had fun.
The Sherlock-Mycroft double act is a well-practised performance. I love it. Then Watson gives them the opportunity to show off their working and they do that as a double act as well.
I think you can absolutely see Mycroft's existence as explaining things about Sherlock - why he enjoys having Watson around to explain things to and show off for. As a child, clearly he was always the one slightly behind his brother and it makes sense that he enjoys having someone impressed by him the same way he was probably impressed by Mycroft as a child.
Absolutely no case in this section. Just Mycroft. And honestly I am fine with that. This scene is iconic.

Your Star Trek AU idea sounds great! I love the backgrounds you've assigned to everyone!
I have a few different ideas for a Star Trek AU myself (like this), but I would probably never get around to writing them.
I have been thinking about Ava and Shannon possibly being Trills / or with a symbiont too! Although in what I've been thinking about so far, Ava is just human who got a symbiont jammed into her in an emergency situation a la Adira Tal in ST:Disco. Shannon is definitely a Trill though.
I love the thought of Bea having a Vulcan connection. I always wanted Bea to be human in a Star Trek AU but she def has Vulcan-like traits. I kinda like the idea of her being a human raised by Vulcans, with her struggling to suppress her human emotions in a Vulcan society, like Michael from ST:Disco. (And now this is making me think of Lilith as possibly Romulan, with all the emotions she always expresses outwardly as opposed to Bea's Vulcan trait of suppressing her emotions.)
And can I please steal that USS Andalusia name? I have been trying to think of a name for their ship.
Having the OCS be a part of Section 31 is a great idea! And the DS9 influence with the whole Cardassian and Bajoran conflict is a great idea for a show with religious influences.
First off, I love that there are other people that wanna mash Warrior Nun and Star Trek together. Big mood.
I haven't seen STD, but I also was toying with whether Ava should've been a Trill or just a human that was there when Shannon died. It's nice to know that there's another case in canon I can look into for something like that.
And Bea is totally Vulcan-coded, whether she's part Vulcan or raised Vulcan. Not only is there that suppression of base human emotion vs her Vulcan upbringing, but I also was toying with the idea of Bea being a master of all trades kind of person as an attempt to make up for the fact that she was probably seen as a "lesser than" during her upbringing. This also leads to a surprising knowledge of religion and theology that her human side possessed, but she found lacking in her Vulcan family. (This would also lead to some interesting discussions with Vincent, who I thought could be a Bajoran counselor on the ship as well.)
Lilith as a Romulan? It basically writes itself.
And please, take as much as you want from all of this stuff I'm spewing! I'd be ecstatic to see any of this anywhere!
Aaaaannnnnnddd I am now just reading all the stuff you have written for your AU and-my gosh-I love it all! I didn't even consider the Borg when I was doing this, but Lilith getting partially assimilated and then rescued is so perfect (especially with it being because of her duty and saving Ava). And I love how you incorporated Diego, because what's Star Trek without some precocious scamp running around?
I also love that we both had no idea what to do with Camilla. Being the sweet, little cinnamon roll, maybe we just give her the O'Brien treatment and just put the screws to her every other chapter.
And my god, the interactions you described with the mirrorverse Avas and Beas, that is pure gold!
P.S. I definitely will watch VOY. I attempted to start it recently, but jut wasn't in the head space for it. Definitely will give it another go soon!
P.P.S. This was so fun to talk about. Feel free to just straight up message me whenever you wanna chat!

Spoilers for Strange New Worlds Episode Charades
For those saying that Spock is cheating, reminder. He's not, T'Pring asked for a break so it just actually just says he's really not invested properly with her and we all know the Chapel thing can't last as it would break the Canon,
and I'm pretty sure the writers know or should know that the whole fandom would riot if they messed with Spirk in any vicinity Canon or not that is fanon and you don't mess with that.
Dare I say it, though his relationship with Christine might better open him up with having a relationship with a human... with another that I just mentioned.
So when Kirk comes along, he's more open to this more chaotic human, possibly more fascinated by him instead of repulsed.
Right now though I really think he's having a crisis moment, also with the overly emotional thing. He's a Human Vulcan hybrid who leans into his Vulcan side never allowing the humans side out..
Who suddenly was thrust into being the very thing he had suppressed all this time he had to deal with human hormones and a fully human brain that is very illogical as Vulcans put it,
Humans are Emotional creatures by nature, Spock isn't used to letting his emotions go and letting him be himself at least when it comes to his human half like he even vocalized later on he didn't understand what it meant to be Human
So for him to suddenly be fully human he was possibly just truly overwhelmed by it. Why he got up to the shenanigans he did,
And as much as I hate to say it this is possibly the side he was suppressing this is more how he would have been had he not had to suppress his human half if he was fully human we are possibly looking at what he would have been as a human
And if you look at the comparisons who does he remind you of again James T Kirk look at their personalities and tell me I'm wrong.
You have to look for the nuances. I think the writers were pretty damn clever with this you can't look at it at surface level, you got to look at the wider picture.

No #OnThisDay throwback post, only exclusive for super secret blog(s) albeit re-post. Instead, I have this!
Title: Cuteness Girl Member - Chick-Sara
Hello, April! 🎗️🧩 Here's my "Secret Art Trade" for my good 'ol G-Pal, rafacaz4lisam2k4. 🇬🇹🙂
• I'm still thinking about Ricky's (another rafacaz4lisam2k4's HTF OC) first "Cuteness Mecha Armor", soon. But, in the mean time, let's meet "Chick-Sara" 🐤🐿️, an adorable chipmunk HTF OC (owned by his) in chick's clothing. And by that, I meant the yellow baby chicken (not a female slang word 🙄😒). I was gonna give her a Zeon's armored "Zaku" series ❌, but look how innocent she is that she deserves a Federation's armored "GM" ✔️, instead; "GM II" to be specific. 🤖🙂
BTW: Don't worry, though, there will be more members that will fitted in Zeon's armored Zaku for the selected "Cuteness Members", someday to make balance out. 😉
GM II Chick-Sara Based on the: RMS-179 GM II [CLICK ME!]
Armament(s):
60mm Vulcan Gun • A pair of shell-firing armament built into the helmet. Low offensive power, only used to restrict enemy movement, and lay down a wall of suppressive fire due to their rapid fire capability.
Beam Saber • The beam saber is a small device held in the armor's hands when deployed and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. Like the GM, the GM II has one beam saber stored on its backpack, but features an improved blade generator unit.
BOWA·BR-S-85-C2 Beam Rifle • A portable firearm that shoots out mega particles beams. It has a power rating of 1.9 MW and is powered by a built-in energy CAP system.
BLASH HB-L-07/N-STD Hyper Bazooka • An improved model of the HB-L-03/N-STD Hyper Bazooka with added targeting sensors, increasing its accuracy. The magazine has also been changed to be completely sealed/airtight, and this not only makes exchanging magazine easier, but also protects against debris intrusion, accidental explosion due to being hit, etc. Additionally, no special attention needs to be paid to the weapon during operation as the rigidity of the rib section connecting the carrying handle to the bazooka's rear has been enhanced.
HWF GMG·MG79-90mm Bullpup Machine • The bullpup machine gun was a system weapon developed as a Space/Ground dual-use projectile weapon. Though compact, it has sufficient anti-MS firepower while maintaining accuracy. Its muzzle velocity is increased due to the use of new gunpowder and this enables it to easily penetrate the armor of Zeon's. A box-like sensor system incorporating a video camera and laser sensor is installed at the top, and when this system is used alongside the GM II's targeting system, target acquisition capability is enhanced.
HFW-GR·MR82 90mm GM Rifle • A portable, mobile suit-use 90mm rifle built based on the 'system weapon' structure, its effective range and accuracy is superior to the HWF GMG·MG79-90mm machine gun. With the extended barrel, the GM Rifle sees a 15% increase in muzzle velocity, leading to increased armor penetration capability. Additionally, a newly developed caseless cartridge allows for a lightened ammunition load.
YHI YF-MG100 100mm Machine Gun • First utilized by Federation's armor ground forces during the One Year War, its use became less common after the war as the Federation switched to 90mm caliber weaponry. Equipped with a box magazine and folding stock, it has excellent rate of fire and is easy to wield. It utilized a smoothbore type barrel that lacked rifling and has to be replaced after firing 3000 rounds. The weapon could utilize three different types of ammunition: HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank), APFSDS (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding-Sabot), and HESH (High Explosive Squash Head), allowing combat units to select the appropriate type to meet operational needs.
Bazooka • A portable, physical projectile-type firearm, this general purpose bazooka was used by the armored Jegan and other Earth Federation Forces' armors. A spare ammunition cartridge is mounted in front of the bazooka's grip, and the weapon is compatible with various types of warhead. Despite the relatively slow speed of the bazooka's projectiles, they have sufficient destructive power to deal critical damages to an armor.
M-120A1 120mm Machine Gun • The same portable firearm used by the Zaku II. It can switch between semi-automatic and automatic fire. Although useless against Luna Titanium Alloy, it can still destroy weaker armor material with multiple shots. It fires 120mm caliber rounds that are stored in a 100-rounds drum magazine.
Harpoon Gun • A projectile weapon designed for amphibious combat. The harpoon gun fires four harpoons one by one in a rotary manner similar to a revolver. The tip of each harpoon is loaded with explosives that detonate once the projectile has penetrated the enemy's armor.
YHI ERRL-TYPE.Doc-04/380mm Rocket Launcher • A portable large rocket launcher meant for armor, it is independently developed by Yashima Heavy Industries for use specifically in 1G environment. Also known as Hyper Bazooka (Ground Type), it has a very versatile design with features that include targeting sensors, etc. It uses a banana-shaped magazine and has a short barrel to facilitate its use in jungle/forested areas. This weapon can utilize a number of different munitions including warheads that deploy stabilizing fins after launch, and this shows that its design took many references from human-sized ground weaponry used in older eras.
YHI YF-RC180 Railcannon • A weapon that uses electromagnetic forces, rather than gunpowder, to fire solid projectiles at very high velocities. Manufactured by Yashima Heavy Industries. This equipment was developed in consideration of the problems that the early beam weapons had decreased power due to attenuation in the atmosphere, and the basic structure is diverted from a battleship's main gun. It was first used by the armor (RGM-79F) Land Combat Type GM.
170mm Cannon • A successor to the 180mm Cannon developed during the early stages of the One Year War. Although the caliber of the shell was reduced to improve handling, its range and power have been increased. The cannon's trigger grip is mounted at the top surface, and a foregrip can be used to stabilize the weapon when in use. Like the 180mm cannon, the 170mm cannon was fed by a magazine: though this time it was underneath the cannon.
BR-87A Beam Rifle • The same beam rifle model as the one used by the Marasai and Hizack. It is powered by a replaceable e-pac and is power rated at 2.2 MW.
FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-003 Shield • A basic defensive armament used by the Federation's GM type MS. It is composed of a triple honeycomb structure made of Luna Titanium and the surface also has anti-beam coating for defending against beam attacks.
FADEGEL RGM-M-Sh-007 Shield • An improved model of the RGM-M-Sh-003. It has the exact same size as its predecessor, but its material was changed to Titanium-Ceramic composite. Its mount latch was made movable, allowing the shield to be positioned up or down when carried by a Mobile Suit manipulator or mounted on the forearm, increasing its usability.
RGM*S-Sh-WF/S-00109 Shield • The GM II can also use the same forearm-mounted shield as the armor G-Ground Type and GM Ground Type. This small, light shield is constructed of Luna Titanium alloy, and is designed to primarily protect the cockpit and other critical areas. Additionally, it can be used as a close-range striking weapon in C.M.A. (Cuteness Mecha Armor) combat. Furthermore, through lodging the spikes at the tip into the ground, the shield can serve as a free-standing frontal defense. This also allows the mobile suit to use both hands to hold large-caliber weaponry and maintain a stable firing position.
Special Equipment(s)/Features:
Ballute System • An atmospheric entry device designed to be used by a multitude of different mobile suit models. As the mobile suit enters the atmosphere, a bowl-shaped ballute (balloon parachute) deploys to protect it from the friction heat of atmospheric entry. The balloon then detaches, leaving the armor with chest and leg hover units which ease its descent to the ground. If the mobile suit reaches the ground without expending all the fuel in the leg units, these devices can also be used for hovering and high-speed strike missions.
