Okay, i have some thoughts on the Spock/Chapel thing so spoilers, obvi.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but i dont think Chapel did anything that wrong. Yeah, she probably should have communicated with Spock better. Heâs supposed to be her best friend at the very least, she should want to tell him. She likes Spock, we know she wants to be with him despite what she said to Boimler about not wanting to influence him. she didnât say weâre through, though. She said, if i need to leave you, i wont fight it. Which to me, sounds like if it comes down to us or me, i choose me. Which she absolutely should! This is her dream! If the long distance was going to get in the way of her happiness, then they probably werenât ready to commit anyways.
But I understand Spocks perspective too. He is, basically, a teenager when it comes to emotions. Living with them is different than suppressing them like hes been taught his whole life. We know vulcan emotions are stronger than humans too. His happiness must be like ecstasy for us. That excitement of a budding romance must feel like the epitome of love. When his heart is broken it must feel like being ripped in two. As such he put everything into this relationship. In his own song he admits he changed for her because he thought they were on the same page. He blames himself for turning his back on his disciplines for her. So you guys, please donât change who you are for someone. Especially when that someone loves you for who you are, like Chapel did.
I hope they donât use this for Spock to go full vulcan. I feel like he could use a better excuse than because he got dumped from a weeks old relationship. Like maybe he goes a little crazy in the heat of battle and they lose someone because of it? Idk.
But i love this development for Chapel. Iâve been hoping for her to get some non-spock related content. Though, now i fear theyâre going to make it about her love for korby, which we know will come. I just hope its not right away and they let her be all smart and free for a bit. And more scenes with Ortegas or MâBenga. I love their dynamic. And same with Spock. I want more scenes with him and the other crew.
Overall, I donât really blame either of them. Chapel shouldâve communicated more directly and Spock shouldnât have changed who he was for her and put so much pressure on it.
#look i was never a spapel shipper#but i loved Chapel and Spock as characters#and i actually like Spock exploring his human side#it makes sense to me that he would after leaving vulcan and working on a primarily human ship#star trek#star trek strange new worlds#strange new worlds#snw#spapel#spock#chapel#nurse chapel#christine chapel#ill admit i was afraid to post this because ppl are so passionate and i just donât have the temperament to be yelled at on the internet

What would it be like to be spock,s mate/ other half ?
This goes for a Non-Vulcan, gender-neutral readerÂ
Words: 841Â
Warnings: noneÂ
First off, Spock would cherish and love you very much â in his own way.Â
So at fist it would take you some time to being able to read him and find out what his love language and way of showing his caring for you is.Â
Maybe that first phase can be frustrating because it feels like heâs still rather distant. Tho heâd actually need some time to get used to the whole situation and know how to deal with it.Â
But once you figured him out, so much he did earlier in the relationship would make sense. And of course anything else he does in the future.Â
It would take him some time too to get to know and fully trust you before he will tell you about what he thinks (and feels if he does have a feeling for once)Â
He will almost never say âI love youâ but use other words like âI cherish youâ or âYou mean very much to meâ or âI must admit that I am feeling a sense of happiness I cannot and do not wish to suppress if I think about you having decided to be my mateâ.Â
Which, if you consider him being Vulcan, is something very sweet to say.Â
He will always remember anything you told him and not forget any birthdays, anniversaries etc. and will also be able to gift you something that you maybe just mentioned in passing.Â
Heâs not the most touchy person â especially in the beginning â and will not often initiate physical contact with you. Or at least ask first like if youâd like a hug when youâre not feeling well.Â
Which doesnât mean he doesnât like physical contact â it's just something heâs not used to and after a while he will even enjoy it when you just hug him. (But of course you respect his boundaries if he sets any and will also try to hold back some touches so youâre not constantly touching him)Â
If you donât work on the same ship as he does, your relationship often becomes long-distance, consisting mainly of regular calls.Â
Which also means that moments heâs back with you are something to be cherished and enjoyed, making you try to spend as much time together as you can.Â
Heâd make it clear that he also has a responsibility to the crew and the ship. Meaning his work usually comes first.Â
Then again, if he feels like your life is in danger he might even make a rash and not so logical decision sometimes. Â
Your little quirks would amuse him to no end and heâd find them super cute but heâd never admit it.Â
But if you mention them being silly, he will correct you, saying theyâre a part of you and that he loves you as a person and you wouldnât be you without your quirks, meaning he doesnât want you without them.Â
You totally could have long talks with him and sometimes the biggest challenge is that they donât turn into a monologue of him where heâs talking and talking about a topic. (eg something scientific or one of their adventures theyâve been on)Â
Of course you would introduce your families to each other and Amanda loves you from second one, treating you like a second childÂ
Sarek is of course more reserved about it all and he might seem scary at the beginning but with time you learn to read him too and that he means very well and is fond of you as well.Â
Spock would teach you a lot about Vulcan and itâs culture while you try to show him things from your world and make him more open to them. And itâs much fun to see him try and struggle with some things (take Inline skating as a basic example)Â
Jealousy would totally not be a thing. Because you know that if someone flirts with him it would be illogical if he paid attention to it (and might not even notice what theyâre doing). And he trusts you too and knows that there is nothing he has to worry about if people try to flirt with you. Â
However, there sometimes is the thought within him that he fears you could leave him for âsomeone betterâ, who is from your own race and would be able to show their love for you more openly.Â
Meaning that then itâs up to you to comfort and reassure him that heâs the only person in the whole galaxy you want.Â
It gets better once you get married because of the mating bond that would be done then. Â
The wedding would be mixed, part Vulcan, part from your world. And it most likely would come to be when heâs experiencing Pon-Farr.Â
But he has informed you about it and even proposed so heâd know that if it happens to him you will be willing to take him as your husband (or wouldnât feel forced to just do it to save his life) and that it isnât all totally surprising to you.Â
Thank you so much for your ask and sorry this took a while. (also I really hope I got it right and this was about what you wanted xD)
#ask and ye shall receive#spock#spock x reader#spock x you#ngl this was so much fun to write and finally do sth for spock again#he really is a lovely lovely cutie#ask#bullet fic#s'chn t'gai spock

I really desperately need moots that enjoy Star Trek so hereâs my first attempt at a Spirk ficlet. Enjoy!
Spock worked his jaw slightly as he watched his captain flirt with yet another woman shamelessly.
Ignoring his feelings for the other man was becomingâŚincreasingly difficult. How embarrassing for a VulcanâŚhe sighed inaudibly as Jim, ever the charmer, twirled one of the aliens curls around his finger. And Spock found himself wishing for long hair for just a second.
It didnât take long for them to disappear soon after. And Spock was left alone at a âpartyâ he didnât want to be atâŚ
âââââââââââââââââââââââ
The captainâs second in command had to witness a similar incident the next night. Standing near a wall, a few people having tried to make conversation before deeming it too awkward and promptly leaving again. And now James T. Kirk was trying his luck with two women at once. And winning. Of course. Because who would ever be able to resist those perfectly blue eyes framed by that slightly tan skin and that gorgeous blonde hair? Thatâs right. No one. Not even cold, emotionless, Vulcan Spock.
He watched the events unfurl again and again until one nightâŚ
Jim wasâŚwasted would be a very nice way to put it. Having flirted only halfheartedly that night and seeming way more focused on getting absolutely shitfaced. And then he was stumbling over to Spock, more falling than walking andâŚwas he crying?
âSpockâ yup, definitely crying âSpock, I canât do this anymoreâŚâ the man slurred. And that was Spockâs queue to maybe get him the fuck of here. Without much more than a sigh he moved to support him so he could bring him back to his room. Using a good amount of concentration to ignore how his skin burned where they touched, even through 4 layers of clothingâŚ
Getting him through the hallways was a struggle to say the least. Jim barely managed to place one foot in front of the other at times, all the way mumbling absolutely incoherent stuff. Spock had to half kick the door open (seriously, why did this planet not have automated doors?) as he tried to get him inside, before dropping him off on the bed.
âGet some rest, Captain.â He instructed, turning to leave again. But a hand grabbed his wrist almost immediately. Spock glanced over his shoulder with a raised brow.
âDonât leave me, SpockâŚâ Jim whispered with pleading eyes, oddly clear for how drunk he was âI need youâŚâ and how the help was he supposed to resist that??? Thatâs right. He wasnât. So he hesitantly and honestly rather stiffly sat down on the edge of the bed. Jim..?â
The man looked like he was almost about to break into tears yet again. âCanâtâŚcanât do this anymore. Tried to distract myself. Didnât work. Just made it worseâŚgod, all those womenâŚSpock, I need you.â
âYouâŚare not making senseâ he told Jim. Or was he just telling that to himself..? âSpockâ he sounded so desperate⌠âSpock I need you. Listen to me! I need you.â Jim shifted closer to the Vulcan, reaching out and putting his hand on his shoulder. âLook at meâŚâ he did. Despite the fear coursing through him that he couldnât quite place âI. Need. You.â
And then it finally clicked. Finally it fucking clicked. Spock understood. Jim could tell by the unusual display of emotion on his best friends face. The way his eyes widened and his lips slightly parted, just staring at him for a moment. And Jim smiled. He smiled one of those beautiful, blinding smiles of his. And then his hand slipped from Spockâs shoulder up to cup his cheek and- oh god. Then their hands touched. Jim pressed his middle and index finger to his and it felt like electricity shooting all throughout his arm.
And the Vulcanâs walls crumbled and fell. He let out a shaky breath, before leaning forward. Because while this was enough for him, he knew it wouldnât be enough for Jim. Jim didnât feel it the way Spock did. And Spock refused to be the only one getting to enjoy this. So he pressed their lips togetherâŚtentative at first. Testing the waters. Before Jim went onto downright devouring him. All that pent up want spilling into the kissâŚ
They would kiss for hours. Both Vulcan and Human kisses. Before they eventually fell asleep in each others arms.

Liveblog: âAll Those Who Wanderâ
In which Star Trek does Alien.
This episode should absolutely have come with warnings for flashing lights and superfluous gore/body horror.
The âendâ of Uhuraâs tenure on the Enterprise would be more meaningful in a longer season. I know itâs not realistic to hope for 22-26 episode seasons anymore, but even 13 would be better for an episodic, character-driven adventure show than just 10.
This looks bad. In fact, her hair has been getting worse all season. Rebecca Romjin is a beautiful woman, but the hair and makeup people have been doing her no favors (something Iâd argue that she has in common with her predecessor in the role, Majel Barret).
âWe are bonded now and forever by the family that is Starfleet.â Who WROTE this drivel? Iâd love to serve in Starfleet! I love its ideals! But even in TOS, it wasnât infallible and perfect and One Big Happy Family.
Is âLieutenantâ really the next rank immediately above âensignâ? Genuine question.
Absurdly tiny coffee cups!
I still want to know why theyâre always doing dishes on this ship that has technology well beyond that shown on TOS AND how/why the captain has time to do said dishes.
Laâanâs actually allowed to show some personality!
As if station wagons would still be a common point of reference in the 23rd centuryâŚ
âDo NOT make me turn this car around.â Again...these are not references that make sense in the showâs context/setting. Theyâre in the script solely to cater to a certain portion of the audience. Also, I still donât find Pikeâs âCaptain Dadâ schtick endearing, sorry.
Sensors donât reach the planets surface, yet they land the shuttlecrafts conveniently close to the ship theyâre rescuing.
âYou gotta buy him a drink.â How long has Spock been in Starfleet nowâŚat least five years? Theyâre constantly explaining Starfleet culture/traditions to him like heâs a cadet. I know heâs a Vulcan, and I know that itâs for the audienceâs benefit, but there must be some other character (Uhura being the obvious choice) who can fill that roleâŚ
And also: who keeps buying people drinks? Is this just a turn-of-phrase, or what? Theyâre certainly not paying for anything on the Enterprise, and we never saw them actually pay for anything on TOS even during shore leave.
Waitâthey took the CMO and Chapel on this mission? What if people need emergency medical attention back on the ship???
The Peregrine is built with some of the same parts as the Constitution-class ships, but itâs not the same designâso why does it look like a carbon copy of the Enterprise, and why does it have such a small crew compliment in comparison?
This is obviously going to be another Gorn episode, and I already know Iâm still going to hate it.
Iâve since read that this was prosthetic makeup, but it looks like bad CGI to me.
Theyâre really going to make Spock have an awkward expository conversation about Surak and logic with Christine in the middle of a crisis/rescue mission in the penultimate episode of the season?
MâBenga calling the little girl âmy daughterâ and then catching himself was a nice touch. He should be haunted by his decision.
I love that Christineâs hair is still perfect after everything. Peak TV show energy.
All of thisâgore and jump scares and a vicious, non-verbal alien species as the overpowered Big Badâis so anti-Trek and I hate it!!! :)
As usual, the level of technology here strains credulity (and far outstrips anything on TOS).
Kirkâs big brother is just a peach⌠McCoy and Spockâs dynamic only worked because Spock gave as good as he got and because the audience knew that Spock considered McCoy a close friend/brother. Watching Sam Kirk be an intolerant ass is just uncomfortable.
COMICAL. Seriously, this is a joke.
So the Gorn are superior (in evolutionary terms) sentient beingsâŚand also mindless, bloodthirsty lizard creatures? Sure.
Gorn-o-vision! This entire episode is impossible to take seriously.
Alluding to Spockâs sacrifice in Wrath of Khan and throwing a âlong live and prosperâ in does not make this any more like proper Trek. Speaking of WOK, Hemmerâs choice would be so much more meaningful if it were done in a similar setting (since he is, after all, the Chief EngineerâŚ) instead of this throw-away ânobleâ sacrifice of a death.
Hemmerâs death is also a reminder of how short 10-episode seasons really are, and how little development his character was really given. As badly as her character was handled, even Tasha Yar had more time to grow than Hemmer before she was killed.
âThis sucks. I hate funerals.â Ortegas and her quippy remarks being charming and funny and essential to the episode as alwaysâŚoh, wait.
HUGS!
I actually think itâs really sweet/meaningful for Christine to tell Spock that his emotions âmake you human.â Iâve seen some bad-faith interpretations of this scene assuming sheâs trying to âpush him to be more human,â but I read it as her encouraging him not to deny his inherent humanity, which heâs grown up thinking of as shameful. His humanity isnât inferior to his Vulcan nature, and he needs to accept it and embrace it if he wants to find peace.
As the child of an alcoholic, I genuinely think Pike has an alcohol problem. Heâs been shown drinking a lot in this show.
The Good: Laâan gets to show some personality (but only early on)âmoral support Spockstine hugs
The Bad: Everything else, lolâPike makes terrible tactical decisions, repeatedly, beginning with bringing cadets on the rescue mission without knowing any details about the circumstances; the most glaring was letting Laâan, whoâs barely coping with her own Gorn-related PTSD well enough to function, basically take charge after they discover that theyâre dealing with the Gornâthe way this series had handled the Gorn is laughably bad and not at all in the spirit of Trek; theyâre treated as monsters rather than sentient enemies who can potentially be reasoned/negotiated with (i.e., the Romulans)âHemmerâs death was pointless and a wasteâthey continue to do absolutely nothing with Number One as a character; why is she even on the show at this point?
Overall, this was a poorly-lit and very poorly-written episode full of jump scares, shaky-cam, flashing lights, and needless gore/death. It felt like the antithesis of everything Trek is supposed to be. Hereâs hoping the finale is better.

Fic Idea 9
Okay so I've been reading a lot of star trek fic lately and just rewatched aos so hear me out:
Half-Vulcan!Katsuki and human!Izuku
Katsuki's parents both died in some sort of really traumatic way when he was a very young child (less that 1-2yrs I'm thinking) and he somehow ends up in the foster system on earth.
I'm imagining that his parents weren't on Vulcan and that Nero didn't happen so the planet still exists and vulcans aren't an endangered species. If they were I think it would be really hard for Katsuki to get overlooked since his vulcan heritage would make him quite valuable and precious.
Anyway, his vulcan parent (probably Masaru) met his mother on some kind of diplomatic mission or science academy deployment or something while away from Vulcan and fell in love with her. Knowing that no one would approve but feeling very strongly about her (they're probably extremely compatible or maybe even soulmates), he runs away to be with her. They're together for several years before starting a family and they're either on a world or ship that gets raided/attacked when they die. Probably a ship that's near earth. Because then it would make sense for earth to pick up the survivors and provide support for them. That puts Katsuki in a brilliant position to be placed into earth's foster care system.
Which is a horrible place for a half-vulcan who's got really big feelings about everything (like vulcans do) and all of this sensory/mental input from the other kids and people that he encounters because humans are very tactile creatures who have no understanding of vulcan physiology since the race is so secretive which leaves Katsuki with no one to guide him through the process of learning to control all of it.
And thus: explosive Katsuki who's very angry about things and super aggressive to keep people the fuck away from him so he can have some peace in his own damn mind is born.
Cue him having a really rough life that is fraught with conflict since he's all at once leaps and bounds smarter than all the people around him but has a hairpin trigger on all of his emotions because there's no one around to teach him control and he's is constantly being mentally assaulted by people touching him and is generally "othered" by all of his peers.
Big points for an estranged vulcan Dadzawa here teaching him how to regulate his emotions and pushing him into starfleet where rank and professionalism will keep people from being overly friendly as well as a broader knowledge of alien species and their customs. Besides, Katsuki is bright as hell and doesn't back down from a fight. With a little bit of guidance and some structure he'd make a great officer.
Which is how he ends up in starfleet and meets Izuku. A bubbly, smart, compassionate, and determinedly fierce human who's pursuing a captaincy once he's completed command track.
A human who Katsuki eventually finds out is his t'hy'la. Which definitely happens during some disapproves disasterous ordeal where Katsuki has to mindmeld with Izuku to save his life and they form a weak bond right away that he can feel buzzing around in his head even after they've separated. He doesn't know that Izuku is his t'hy'la until they've been dancing around each other for a few months and he finally gets a chance to speak with dadzawa again and Katsuki brings it up because he just can't figure it out.
Obviously it ends with them getting together and formalizing their bond via a mix of the human traditions that they both grew up with and some vulcan ones that just feel right to Katsuki (after some research and discussion with dadzawa). Overall the ending would be the toothrotting fluff they deserve after a lot of struggle.
I think Izuku's childhood would be much the same as it is in canon. Pretty much single mom raising him who works a lot. Nerdy and scrawny as a kid. Super smart. Super hard worker. Super determined. Mocked for saying he was going to be a starfleet captain one day. Didn't have a lot of friends or good adult figures. It's probably inspired by All Might, an admiral in starfleet who captains a ship and he up in Izuku's town. He's done great things. They met once when Izuku was little and he was so inspired by his stories that it immediately captured all of Izuku's ample imagination.

Star Trek TOS S1 Ep02 - Charlie X
this episode starts and I'm already confused but delighted because Kirk is wearing the V neck green shirt FOR SOME UNEXPLAINED (so far) reason and they quickly show us how Charlie is to not be trusted but quickly give us that sprinkle of "he's just a boy regardless, he's amazed and curious" which, okay
THEN. NOT EVEN 10 MINUTES IN. they show me McCoy and Spock bickering on the bridge while McCoy is sitting on/against the controls panel and ?!?!?? and Jim tries to step in but then they start again and these three are a riot i adore them and when Kirk tells Bones to take care of Charlie regardless Spock has such a smug face omg WHERE did all the stereotypes i've heard during my life come from this alien is quite expressive actually and im here for it
adding to that, we have the funky moment of Spock playing a lyre (WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW HE DID) and Uhura singing and he looks AHFJSHFHSHF like a mix or offended and amused due the lyrics (it's about him and he knows it). he has a face of "i play for you to sing and yet you sing about me. idk if be offended or what" but like, fondly
AFTER WE SEE JIM KIRK BEING AN ABSOLUTE CHAOS OF A FATHER FIGURE BY GIVING SUCH A BAD EXPLANATION TO CHARLIE AS TO WHY HE SHOULDN'T SLAP GIRLS ON THEIR ASS AND it was hilarious honestly
then we keep seeing glances at how unstable and dangerous Charlie actually is AND the first time we see/learn about Kirk and Spock playing chess together and i gotta admit i was worried for the Vulcan for a moment there. then the odd yet understandable due plot and everything else speech about Charlie wanting Yeoman Janice and then we see a very nice talk where she requests Kirk speaks with him to leave her alone. idk that exchange and Kirk being soft and being like "okay I'll talk to him" was, nice
AND THEN we have him trying to guide this very lost boy and while what Kirk said makes sense to me it was still very confusing in the delivery but oh well
THEN WE HAVE HIM SHIRTLESS???? JUST BECAUSE, while trying to teach Charlie something. first Jim "tiddies out" Kirk witnessing. sad about that Sam tho :(
then we see more chaos and Kirk, Spock and McCoy being the three braincells they are and i love them and apparently McCoy has a thing for sitting on tables and honestly good for him because same. Uhura gets hurt, and then Spock is being made to talk in silly rhymes and there's something about Kirk being protective of his crew that will never tire me out
then we have Charlie at the Yeoman's room and Spock getting his legs broken??? and the Yeoman disappearing?????? and Kirk being very adamant about needing Spock ("You need me to run the ship and I need him")
then we see more of the chaos Charlie does and how he keeps getting away from Kirk's and Spock's ideas and then the idea of overload the kid and then we get a floating green head who apparently is from the beings who gave Charlie his powers? and his reason to run away is understandable and just like the Captain i did feel a little bad about him at the end and probably the wise course of action would have been to just take his powers away but idk how that works anyways - probably just plot device
and this episode ends in a very weird feeling and state before the cheery tune of the credits comes in :D
#star trek tos#gabe watches star trek#star trek tos s1 ep02#also at some point Kirk was on his usual yellow shirt and got into a lift and upon getting out he had the green one on again ahfjshfjshf#gaal talks

Writing wasnât the kind of career that brought with it a great deal of routine. Not that Rory particularly minded as he was a certified night owl, going to bed in the early am and not rising again until the sun was at its highest point in the sky. It also meant that the moments where he wasnât sitting in his writing nook and frowning over a plot hole of his own making, it appeared to others that he was advertising his supposed âfree timeâ to be open for anyone to make a monopoly of.
Normally, this consisted of babysitting his agentâs kids on the days where Bonnie was allocated her own time off. Sometimes, he was in charge of the groceries, hubris prompting him to claim he didnât need to take a list with him only to return from Trader Joeâs with half the items required and Alison shaking her head and muttering something under her breath about âweaponised incompetenceâ. In comparison, shadowing Bonnie on her date wasnât as much of a chore. And yet-
âWhat dâyou need me tâdo it for?â heâd asked then flinched when Missyâs palm lightly collided with the back of his head.
âBecause Kian and I are working and sheâs a girl on a first date with a stranger,â the brunette explained, brown doe eyes fixated on him like she was a Disney princess talking to a very, very dumb cartoon deer.
He had narrowed his eyes at her, rubbing sorely at the back of his head despite it not having hurt at all.
âYou canât take the night off? Sânot like another dinosaurâs goinâ tâgo extinct,â he reasoned. This time, he managed to dodge the blow she sent his way. But then she began prodding him incessantly until he had no choice but to relent, understanding that tagging along with Bonnie for a little while was a fate much preferable to receiving a stern talking-to from Missy.
It wasnât as if he didnât care about the wellbeing of Bonnie. Heâd been the one to indoctrinate her into their rag-tag little group of misfits after all, ever since heâd walked into the living room of his bossâ penthouse apartment, half-dressed in a pair of boxers, and found an amused-looking young woman standing there clad in a TARDIS sweatshirt. He had a lot of time for Bonnie and didnât want her to get turned into a human Big Mac if her date turned out to be a creep, but he just wasnât sure what he was meant to do. Sit and stare at them from across the coffeeshop like some sort of creep? And how long was he meant to stay there for? If they took things to the next level, was he meant to go along with them and sit in a corner of the room with a paperback while they got to know each other in a more biblical sense? Donât mind me, lads, he pictured himself saying. Carry on. The Terrorâs just gone and slaughtered a Vulcan science ship, so Iâll be grand for a few another few hours at least. Yâneed any water?
With reassurances from Missy that he could leave as soon as his assessment of this Roger fella deemed him safe for Bonnie to be alone in his company with, he relented and followed Bonnie to the coffee shop. Some hipster sounding place that he figured would be shut down within the year.
As they walked - or rather, as Bonnie marched ahead and left him trailing behind - he cupped a hand around his cigarette so he could light it properly. Muttering when it refused to catch, he tried his best to follow his friend along the busy street. The Autumn chill swept around his thighs, and he was reminded that he hadnât exactly dressed for the weather, clad in an old rugby shirt and a pair of shorts that his sister, Aoife, declared âwere a few inches away from being a glorified pair of budgie smugglers.â He liked the shorts, but the cold made him ache that little bit more for the warmth a hit of nicotine would give him. If he could only get the damn thing to light.
âJesus feck,â he said, thumb slipping against the lighter until it finally caught. By that time, Bonnie had come face to face with her date and Rory watched with narrowed eyes as the man in question took one look at her inhaler and turned away.
Slowly raising his eyebrows, cigarette dangling gormlessly from his mouth, Rory stood where he was as the prick began walking his way. Without thinking too much, Rory inhaled and then blew out the Danteâs Peak of all cigarette smoke clouds. Roger walked right into it and immediately began spluttering out hacking coughs. He turned on Rory with hateful, watery eyes.
âMate, what the hell?â he spat, in an accent that would have been enough to damage Roryâs opinion of him even if he hadnât insulted his friend.
âLooks like youâve got some trouble catchinâ your breath yourself, lad,â Rory said before cheerfully clapping the man on the shoulder and walking to catch up with Bonnie.
âAlright?â he asked her, knowing she was probably the opposite of alright but now that his services had been deemed unnecessary, he couldnât help but think that Missy was far more equipped to deal with this part. Grimacing, he awkwardly placed a hand on Bonnieâs shoulder. âBit of a waster, if you ask me.â
Dating apps were an unbeatable game, in Bonnieâs experience. Though a lot of people repeatedly tried to remind her that they werenât a game, nor were they a means to make new friends, their exclaims fell on deaf ears. She enjoyed the thrill of getting to know new people, of learning all their quirks and the things that made them tick. She often found herself immersed in new hobbies as she fixated on the interests of a brand new human that sheâd matched with on tinder or hinge. Brayden from Manhattan had loved horse riding and astronomy; The latter interest had reeled her in within a matter of seconds, the former had lead to a sprained ankle, a week of wearing a neck brace and a special feature on Maggieâs perfectly curated grid as she ripped the shit out of her roomie. Gabriella was from the Bronx, and sheâd been an avid fan of tennis, resulting in Ariadne introducing Bonnie to her friend Colin for tips. Gabriella may have ghosted her, but Bonnie had learned hard and fast just how good Colin Nash was on his knees.
Sufficed to say, Bonnie didnât exactly fit the dictionary definition of a romantic, but she liked being busy. She loved people and the distractions they brought with them, just as she adored the idea of embracing new ideas and environments and cultures, positively obsessed with the concept of somebody liking her so much that they might some day define it as love.
All the same, she was shit out of luck and had a tendency to run her mouth and drive people away. That, or she was prone to getting catfished several times a week.
Todayâs date was Roger. He was from London, built like a marble sculpture, and richer than God. He was hot in a way that implied one night with him would shatter her spine and leave her destitute and being fed from a tube for the foreseeable future, and who was she to say no to that? Admittedly, Kian had rolled his eyes immediately upon seeing his profile, the all too familiar singsong of catfish spilling from Missyâs perfect lips, and Bonnie had groaned, stomped her feet, and then promptly begged a nonplussed Rory to shadow her date to make sure he was real and not a slimy, murdering murderer prepping to chop her up to sell her organs to Armie Hammer.
âOh my God, Iâm late. Iâm so late. Sexy Hannibal Lecterâs never gonna rearrange my guts if you donât GET! OUT! MY! WAY!â Bonnie found herself snapping as she came to a halt in front of a group of tourists, the oldest of them wide eyed and clutching her pearls as â presumably â her granddaughter covered her ears, jaw dropping in mortification at every word that had just been screeched in their general direction.
Bonnie kept moving, only sparing a glance over her shoulder to ensure Rory was still on her tail. He was moving at a far more sensible pace â stupid, sexy Irish man and his manly, athletic thighs that had no business belonging to a dweeby sci-fi author â and he wasnât fumbling around in his jacket pocket for an inhaler the way that Bonnie was. The sharp chill of the Autumnal air had hit her like a bullet train the second sheâd stepped outside, an ice-cold ache washing over her lungs, tightening in her throat as she pushed through crowds of irritable New Yorkers.
Finally, she came to a stop in front of the coffee shop sheâd agreed to meet Roger at, drawing the piece of plastic to her lips and inhaling sharply. Relief washed over her as she felt that hit of salbutamol, her airways clearing as sweat dripped down her neck, her hand coming up to clutch desperately at her ribcage. She spun on the spot as she searched for Roger, her gaze landing on a man a mere 3 feet away from her who, she guessed, vaguely resembled her date? He was about 7 inches shorter than heâd claimed, a little scruffy, and nowhere near as ripped, but she supposed heâd have to do.
Before she could get a single word out or even so much as wave a hand to greet him, Roger was speaking.
âNope, sorry. Asthma? Massive ick, babes,â he said in an accent that sounded nothing like Matt Smithâs, and promptly turned on his heels and walked away.
Exhausted, perplexed, and perpetually disappointed, Bonnieâs shoulders deflated as she scowled after her failed tinder match. With as much gusto as she could manage considering her current state of irritation, Bonnie flipped him the bird â or rather, the back of his head â and let out a loud, petulant whine.
âSeriously? God for-fucking-bid I need to pause for breath while going down on pencil-dick over here,â Bonnie bitched, silently banking on the fact that Rory was within earshot. She supposed she was lucky that she didn't have to worry about it ever getting that far, but she had wasted a banging outfit on the dickhead.

Can I give you more than one so you can choose in case none of them would be inspiring? But also if none of them are that's also fine
Spock&Sarek + vacation
McCoy&Sarek + tea
spones + Amanda
Ahhhh all of these prompts are so fun, thank you!! I may do all of them eventually lol, though it's probably not surprising which one I picked to do first ;) I already failed to just write 100 words lol but at least it's still short!
--
Sarek startles awake as Doctor McCoy suddenly appears next to his biobed. He watches with mild confusion as the doctor places a teapot and two cups down on the table next to his bed. Itâs the first time heâs woken up since the surgery, and based on the lack of pain heâs currently feeling, it must have been a success.
McCoy glances at him, and upon realizing heâs awake says, âForgive me, Ambassador â I didnât mean to wake you.â
âIt is no matter.â He stares as McCoy pours the tea. âMay I ask what you are doing?â
âI thought you might like some tea. Spock programmed a recipe for Vulcan spice tea into the replicator, and itâs pretty damn good in my opinion.â McCoy offers one of the cups, and Sarek takes it. âThe Captain says I need to work on my bedside manner, so. Here I am.â
âI see.â Sarek looks into the cup, and then glances at his son lying in the biobed at the far end of the room. Heâs still unconscious, and something in his chest tightens. âMy sonâ?â
âHeâs fine, despite his best efforts,â McCoy grumbles, and then checks himself. âAh, sorry. His blood production rate is back to normal. And your heart is back to normal, too.â
âThen I must compliment you on your surgical skill, Doctor,â Sarek says. McCoy seems surprised by this, and Sarek reflects on their interactions thus far. He supposes he had been less than polite to the doctor when he had asked him why he had retired so early. While it had been because he did not want Amanda to learn about his heart condition, it was still inexcusable behavior. âAs you probably already guessed, my heart condition is why I retired so early. Forgive me for not answering your question before.â
âOh, itâs alright.â McCoy leaves briefly to place a cup of tea by Spockâs bed, and then returns to Sarekâs side. âIt was probably insensitive of me to ask.â
âAnd yet that did not stop you from asking anyway,â Sarek says drily, realizing only after heâs said it that he should not tease McCoy as he would his wife.
But, to his surprise, McCoy grins. âYou know, a lot of things make more sense now that I know youâre Spockâs father.â
Sarek blinks at him, unsure of his meaning. He glances over at his son again, who is starting to stir. McCoy also notices this and leaves Sarekâs side, fussing around Spock as he checks his biomonitor and hands him the teacup. Heâs complaining about Spock taking unnecessary risks and giving McCoy an ulcer on purpose, which seems strange coming from a medical professional. But seeing the playfulness in Spockâs expression as he responds to McCoy in kind, Sarek realizes that he misinterpreted McCoyâs teasing from earlier.
He is gratified to see that Spock has such a close and valued friend.
Sarek takes a sip of tea. Itâs good, and tastes just like the kind he makes from scratch at home. To think that his son programmed the replicator to produce an exact copyâŚ
He feels warm, and tells himself it is merely because of the tea.

OT+ Prompts:
#4 - Spock is sick and Kirk + Genesis fussing over them, please? đđ
@dancingsunflowers-ocs đ
Pairing: Spirkton (Genesis Welton + Jim Kirk + Spock).
Prompt: #4 - A is sick and everyone is fussing over them from OT+ Prompts.
Warnings: Illness, mentions of vomiting, light swearing.
(A/N: Thank you so much for this, Alexandra!! I hope you enjoy it!!)
GENESIS WAS THE FIRST PERSON to admit that she should know better as a medic, but they somehow always managed to forget that, though Vulcans couldnât get sick, her dear half-Vulcan boyfriend was also half-human. As such, they had nearly choked on her own saliva when Spock had stumbled rather than walked into the med bay, face flushed green with fever and looking terribly nauseous.
Beyond her initial reaction of surprised hacking, Genâs second, horrible thought was that Spock had been poisoned and was about to collapse dead to the floor. Not a very rational thought, they could admit that as well, but sheâd never seen Spock so much as have to blow his nose or clear phlegm from his throat before, so it probably made sense that theyâd immediately jumped to the worse-case scenario.
Thankfully, Dr. McCoy had not jumped to any such conclusions and immediately went to check the first officer over, and it didnât take him long to diagnose Spock with a simple case of the common flu. After prescribing some medication for the upset stomach and some good old-fashioned bedrest, the doctor had kindly released Genesis from med bay duty for the night, telling her that heâd inform Jim of Spockâs condition and tell him to come check on the half-Vulcan as soon as he could.
The captain of the Enterprise entered Spockâs quarters to find Gen attempting to pin his first officer to his bed.
âOh, thank God,â Gen groaned, moving to once again force Spock down onto his mattress. âCan you order him to stay in bed or something? He wonât lie down, Iâve been trying for fifteen minutes.â
âI do not require bedrest,â Spock huffed in response, doing a magnificent job of pretending he didnât still look like he was going to vomit at any moment. âI would not even have had any reason to leave the star deck if Lieutenant Uhura had not insisted I âget looked atâ-â
âAnd a damn good thing she did,â Genesis snapped. âYou wonât get better by staying on the star deck and working all night, you'll get better by resting. And even if you donât agree, bedrest was the doctorâs orders.â
âYou know I have very little respect for Dr. McCoy.â
âNurseâs orders, then.â
âYou I respect immensely, but you do not have the proper authority to be giving me orders.â
âCareful, Spock,â Jim piped up, trying not to smirk as Genâs face and neck flushed redder than their hair. âI doubt the fact that youâre ill will spare you from our dear partnerâs wrath.â
Letting out a long-suffering sigh, Spock went limp against Genâs hold and slumped downwards onto his bed. âI am not ill. Dr. McCoy was mistaken.â
âSpock,â Jim replied, keeping his voice carefully even as he stepped further into his boyfriendâs room. âYou look like youâre burning up, and Bones is very rarely mistaken when it comes to diagnoses. Even if youâre not actually sick, Iâm taking you off duty for the night. If you wonât listen to doctorâs orders-â
âOr nurseâs orders,â Gen grumbled, slowly crawling off of Spock as if she didnât trust him not to try and get up again.
âOr nurseâs orders,â Jim agreed, nodding to them, âthen you will listen to captainâs orders. And your captain is ordering you to stay in bed, get some sleep, and allow the two of us to fuss over you for a bit."
"I do not require you to fuss over me," Spock grumbled, though he didn't make another move to sit up. "I am perfectly alri-"
The half-Vulcan broke off, his face twisting in discomfort, and Genesis reacted swiftly, snatching up Spock's waste bin from the floor and holding it in front of his face just as he pulled his body into sitting and lurched forward, retching.
Concern beginning to course through him, Jim dashed to Spock's bedside, rubbing his boyfriend's back as the first officer emptied the contents of his stomach into the waste bin. Her face impossibly soft, Gen gently smoothed Spock's hair back from his face, waiting until his shoulders had stopped heaving before they pulled the waste bin away.
"What was that you were saying about being alright?" Genesis asked, though to her credit, Jim couldn't detect a hint of smugness in their voice - just genuine care and concern.
It took a moment for Spock to answer, as if he didn't trust himself to speak without needing to vomit again. But finally he let out a breathy sigh and quietly said, "I apologize for being so stubborn. I will concede to getting some rest."
"Good," Gen said cheerfully, standing up from the bed and heading towards Spock's bathroom. "Jim, would you mind grabbing some light snacks and water from the mess? I'm just going to clean this out, and then when you get back we can all relax together. Pending an emergency, Captain, you're off-duty for the night as well."
Quirking an eyebrow, Spock gave Jim a wry look, the kind that asked, Why do we let her boss us around again?
In response, Jim chuckled, patting Spock's knee, and made his way back towards the door. "Well, you heard them, Mr. Spock. Nurse's orders."
ŕź*ÂˇË ŕź*ÂˇË ŕź*¡Ë
By the time Jim returned with some cracker packets and water bottles, Gen had already changed into her sleepwear and wheedled Spock into putting on his. Chuckling as he set the food and water down on the bedside table, Jim pressed a kiss to both of his partners' heads and excused himself to go put on his own sleep outfit.
When he reentered Spock's quarters for the final time that night, the first officer was already mostly asleep, lying cradled again Genesis' chest. Absently carding their fingers through his hair, Gen gave Jim an absurdly fond expression that seemed to say, How is he so cute?
Sliding into bed on Spock's other side, Jim buried his nose in the half-Vulcan's raven hair and reached over him to take Gen's free hand, linking their fingers together.
Lulled by the warmth of his lovers' bodies and the sounds of their deep, even breathing, Jim felt himself begin to slip off to sleep as well. His final thought before the pleasant darkness overtook his mind?
Spock should really get sick more often.

Request: "Please make a fic where the reader (female or gn) is new to the Fire Force as an unpowered person and they become attached to Viktor"
Pairing: Viktor x Unpowered Fem!Reader
A/N: Thank you sm for the request, @thesolarflameâ! I really flip-flopped on what position to give the reader considering she is unpowered. I thought about making her a member of the science team, a fighter like Obi, and even making her a sister. I think everyone will enjoy what I landed on though!
When Vulcan first joined Company 8, he had done an inspection of their matchbox and all of their fire fighting equipment. Once he had finished going through their arsenal, he had explained to Obi that there was just far too much for him to maintain on his own while simultaneously developing new technology to assist them in battle.
Just maintaining the matchbox was a task in and of itself, let alone the fleet of weapons and armor that Obi donned every time they were called to the scene of a fire. He was a talented engineer, surely, but there was only so much one man could do.
Vulcanâs solution: he knew a girl.
He had wasted no time in gathering up Lisa and Yu and going on a little âfamily outingâ before returning with the mysterious mechanic in tow, the woman receiving a warm - if chaotic, as per Company 8âs usual demeanor - welcome.
She was an engineer just like Vulcan, a talented technician who was nearly as famous as he was in their close knit junk-rat community. While Vulcan was renowned for his skill at creating unique and nearly indestructible machines, she was famous for her ability to keep machines going far passed the point they should have fallen to pieces.
Vulcan frequently tried to pick her brain on her uncanny ability but her answers were something that befuddled him more than anything else.
âItâs love. You can spend years building the most flawless, indestructible machine the world has ever seen but, without love, sheâll break down as surely as the sun rises. Love keeps things going when they should fall apart.â
Vulcan scoffed at her sentimentality and she laughed at his stubbornness, the two always returning to their friendly rivalry despite their differences in opinions. They would rag on each other and goad each other on but, through it all, he respected her skill and she respected his ingenuity.
As for the rest of the company, she got along well with the crew of fire soldiers. Despite her easy comradery with the others, however, she always felt out of place. After all, she wasnât a fire soldier or even a pyrokinetic so suddenly getting wrapped up in all this business with infernals and the White Clad was disarming.
She had gone from her humble machine shop to a Fire Force cathedral, surrounded by people who could control bullets, who could make swords out of plasma, and who could even fly. She was just an engineer - and unpowered at that - and, despite how fulfilling her work was, she felt like she had lost her anchor joining Company 8.
Initially, she had latched onto Vulcan and Lisa for some sense of normality but the feeling of being a third wheel quickly overcame any comfort that came from their companionship. After all, the two mostly stuck to themselves, the two very much in love. More than that, with Lisa still dealing with her trauma from her experiences with the White Clad, Vulcan was even more unavailable than ever.
Feeling lost and out of place, she was surprised to find an easy companionship with Company 8âs one and only science officer.
Viktor had been the one to initiate their first real conversation, the man as curious as he was out of the ordinary. He had approached her while she had been having a conversation with the matchbox, praising her girl for doing such a great job during their last mission.
âDo you think the matchbox understands you?â Viktor asked, peeking down into the inspection pit beneath the vehicle where she spent a fair amount of her time. Despite how bluntly he phrased his question, there was no judgement in his tone. Just simple curiosity.
âIâm not sure if she understands my words but I think she understands what Iâm saying, if that makes sense,â she answered with a friendly smile, already used to conversations like this with Vulcan.
âSo, itâs more of you trying to get across your message and your intentions rather than believing you are having an actual conversation with a machine?â
âYou could say that, although it still is a conversation. I listen and she tells me whatâs wrong, so I fix her. Then she listens to me when I praise her and ask her to keep going. We talk, just not like you and I talk,â she explained, pleasantly surprised when he simply nodded in understanding.
Their conversation continued well into the afternoon, to the point where - after she had finished her tune up - the two had perched themselves on the bumper of the matchbox to continue their chat. It wasnât until Vulcan had come out to collect them for dinner that they realized how long they had been talking and laughing, a situation that they would find themselves repeating every day for weeks.
Sometimes their conversations took place with her down in the inspection pit under the matchbox or her in the equipment room maintaining all of Company 8âs gear.
Sometimes they talked for hours in Viktorâs admittedly messy room (he tried to clean up just for her) or even on the roof of the cathedral.
Sometimes they chatted for hours at the dining room table, the entire company coming and going for lunch and then dinner and leaving them to their conversation with knowing smiles and teasing giggles.
She found herself relieved to have someone who understood her, both as an engineer and as an unpowered person, and Viktor found himself curious about the kind-hearted mechanic who defied the laws of physics with love. The two talked not just about engineering and science but about music, anime, their hobbies, and even their dreams.Â
As their conversations continued, they found themselves growing even closer than friends - casual flirts slipped into their conversations as readily as they talked about anything else. Teasing and blushing became as commonplace in their time together as mentions of physics and mechanics.
Despite how their relationship was slowly changing, she was always comfortable in Viktorâs company. He made her feel understood, safe, and anchored. He had become her port in the storm. She felt like she was at home when she was with him and, with the way he finally seemed to take a full breath when she was around, he felt the same.
One day, after being called to the scene of an infernalization, she had a close call with a first-generation pyrokinetic, the woman mad with pain and lashing out at anything that moved. It had been Viktor who had tackled her to the ground, covering her smaller body with his own and protecting her as the fireball rocketed through the space she had once occupied.
The rest of the crew had made short work of putting the woman to rest but Irisâ prayers had fallen on ringing ears as their engineer realized how close she had come to an agonizing death. It had put into perspective how truly dangerous these situations were for unpowered people like her and Viktor. They didnât have the same fire resistance or combat training that the other members of Company 8 did and the very real peril left her shaken, even after they had returned to the cathedral.
It had been Viktor who had pulled her away from the rest of their company, guiding her into his quiet room so he could wrap his arms around her and pull her into his warm embrace. Her arms looped around his waist, the engineer settling against his solid chest and pressing her ear against his heartbeat.
It was a few minutes before they spoke but she felt no pressure from him to do so. Instead of pushing her, he quietly held her and stroked her back, her anxiety slowly settling as she was calmed by the warm embrace of the man she had fallen in love with.
âHow do you do it? Go running into that every day? Youâre unpowered too, doesnât it scare you?â she finally asked, breaking the silence between them.
âOf course it does,â Viktor chuckled, his laughter vibrating in his chest as he rested his cheek against her hair, âI never know if today is going to be the last day I spend on this earth. But itâs worth it knowing that Iâm actually learning something real about the world; that Iâm where I should be.â
His next words were a bit quieter but no less passionate as he hummed them against her hair. âItâs worth it knowing youâre at my side.â
Pulling back, she looked up at him in surprise, and he gazed down at her with that same crooked smile. She was struck by the tenderness in his eyes and by the warmth in his expression - an affection that he only ever showed her. In that moment, she knew that she was also where she should be. That it was all worth it to her too, knowing that he was by her side.
Meeting Viktor's smile with one of her own, she stood on the tips of her toes, pressing a brief but sweet kiss to his cheek.
When she returned to her heels, gazing up at him with a gentle smile spread across her face, he stared back down at her in stunned wonder. A blush dusted his cheeks, his lips parted and his eyes rounded in surprise.
âThank you for always being there with me, Viktor,â she thanked, feeling more at ease in his arms than she had ever felt anywhere else.
At her words, his smile returned, the corners of his lips quirking up although his blush remained. Reaching up, he cupped her cheeks in his broad hands before leaning down to press his lips to hers. Gently moving his lips against hers, they shared a tender, lingering kiss.
Just when she thought she might forget how to breathe, her heart swelling in her chest and stealing the air from her lungs, he pulled away.
âAlways,â Viktor promised as he pressed his forehead to hers, gazing into her eyes with a loving expression.

Flower- TOS! Spock x Reader
Requested by @groovyfluxie Hi!!! May I please request a Soulmate AU where TOS!Spock and Reader are reincarnated soulmates who have a matching soulmark (maybe like a red chrysanthemum with a red fate string tied on the stem)?
Words: 740
A/N: I'm sorry this took a while. I had a band concert and I had to practice for a choir concert and yesterday I had a little COVID safe party with my friends. Also I know the reference for the soulmark isn't exactly the right flower of color but when I head flower with a string my first though was BTS' Love Yourself: Her album cover.
~
You didn't know why the universe decided to make soulmates a thing, but it was and the universe had a weird way of showing it too. On your shoulder blade was a mark that looked like a chrysanthemum but to be honest you couldn't tell what it was and there were red lines attached to it.Â
You groaned as you rolled out of bed. You didn't want to go to your shift in sickbay, but Bones would be disappointed if you didn't show up. You quickly got changed, taking a few seconds to look at the mark on your shoulder blade, and then you headed to sickbay.Â
"Thank God you're here," Bones called out. "I have to leave for an away mission and I need you to watch over sickbay for me."Â
"Yes, Doctor," you replied before he ran off.Â
One thing for sure, you didn't know if you could handle Bones if he was your soulmate. Sure, he was a gentleman, always putting others before himself and he had his looks and charm, but he was so busy.Â
Your shift went by really fast since nobody decided to get hurt then. You were ready to call Nurse Chapel down before the trio walked in, beaten up and bruised. You let out a quiet sigh and began getting your supplies out.
"What happened to you?" You asked Bones.
"Aliens," he grumbled as he tried to help you, but you glared at him and he backed off for once.
You walked over to Kirk. "Please remove your shirt. I need to check for wounds," you told him, making him take his shirt off. You secretly scanned for his soulmark and was disappointed when he didn't have yours. You quickly patched him up and went to Spock. He did the same thing without you asking.
You always had a crush on Spock, but you never knew the real reason why. Why fall head over heels for the logical one when you can have someone as charming as Bones or Kirk? You didn't know.
You let out a small gasp as you saw his soulmark was the exact same as yours. You froze for a second, making Bones look in your direction.
"What's the matter?" He asked, looking at Spock's back with you. Bones knew what your soulmark looked like. You two had a discussion about it and showed each other. His soulmark was on his finger.
"Mr. Spock," Bones beamed as he looked at you. "I don't know to apologize or to congratulate you."
"I am afraid that I do not understand," Spock said as he continued to look forward.
"You just met your soulmate, Spock."
~
You paced outside his quarters, debating with yourself as if you should try to enter. You were very excited but yet very nervous that Spock was your soulmate. Complete opposites becoming soulmates. They always did say opposites attract.
Spock's door came open and you jumped as you watched the Vulcan emerge. You shot him a nervous smile as he softly tilted his head.
"(Y/N), would you like to come inside?"
You let out a heavy sigh as you nodded. Spock let you through and you went into his quarters.
His quarters was very nice. It had nice purple lighting and artifacts from different cultures. Everything in his room said logic and nothing said emotional.
"I'm assuming you know why I'm here," you told him as he offered you a seat at his desk.
"A person finds their soulmate, was I expecting you just to ignore it?"
"Hopefully," you laughed to yourself. "Oh, come on, Spock, look at us. You value logic and I cry over everything. I don't understand."
He shifted in his seat before making direct eye contact with you. Usually his look would be stern and powerful, but this time you've noticed that his look was soft and compassionate.
"My mother," he started, "taught me that love sometimes isn't supposed to make sense. After all, she did marry a Vulcan."
"I know but I just don't know where to start or what to do. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable since I'm so human compared to you."
You saw as a little appeared on his lips and your heart skipped a beat. You never saw him smile before and you thought it was the cutest thing.
"You may start by telling me what you enjoy and we can work from there."

my thoughts on the voyage home AND the final frontier
again iâm just going to paste both of my letterboxd reviews here because why would i retype the same thoughts.
the voyage home
i'm giving this a 3.5/5 because it still falls a bit below search for spock for me personally. i think after having seen more of these i might bump the first two movies down a bit in rating.
now i'm a fan of anytime star trek goes goofy and wacky. the trouble with tribbles and a piece of the action are some of my favorite original series episodes, and even just the silly moments in an otherwise normal episode will usually stand out to me. so i don't want it to sound like i didn't appreciate the goofiness of this movie; i did! i love putting the enterprise crew in situations. i love chekov running through an army naval base. i love spock vulcan neck-pinching a punk guy on a bus. i love bones and scotty pretending they work for this random engineering company. those things were great. however, the whiplash tonal shift of this movie is noticeable. i did a double feature of this and final frontier, which i will review separately, but seeing now 5/6 of the original series movies it is striking how different this is. i guess in a way its the tribbles of the star trek movies. and i guess it makes sense to have at least one -- it keeps it true to form in a way -- but something about the long term storytelling between the movies makes the random tone switch of this one just feel a bit off. again, i loved the goofiness, but it was just a lot to process.
there's other minor things about the movie i don't like; some of kirk's characterization felt a little off, for one. spock also did at times which i know is part of him recovering from being fucking brought back to life but it was almost like i was watching original pilot spock again. "irritation? ah, yes, one of your earth emotions!" like that level of spock. his arc in this being that he just goes back to the evolved spock we came to know over 3 seasons of television and 2 movies was...a choice, but whatever. it led to some funny moments between him and kirk but again, it had this almost uncanny valley feeling to it where it just felt a little bit wrong. also saavik being removed is disappointing but not surprising. apparently there was one script draft where she was pregnant with spock's child and if that stayed in i would have started biting glass.
overall this movie is definitely an enjoyable watch; the premise is goofy enough that it's easy watching, the ending is optimistic in the traditional star trek way, and the characters are put in fun little situations. it just feels a little off to me with some minor problems but i wouldn't call this a bad film by any stretch.
the final frontier
i did a double feature of this and the voyage home and wow holy shit. what a tonal shift.
before i start i'm not gonna straight up blame shatner for what this movie is. other reviews on here have explored him and that in more depth and i'm not even gonna try. i think it's not so black and white as "nimoy did this and it was good, shatner did this and it was bad" and i think its reductive to reduce it as such.
i can see why shatner would want to write this story. spock was fucking brought back to life. he has an eternal soul. once you write something like that into your script, the concept of God or the source of all life doesn't seem that out of the picture. and it's not like star trek hasn't dealt with gods or god-like entities before. who mourns for adonais explores the greek god apollo and other episodes have advanced sentient life forms who, in a way, act like god figures. so i can see why shatner would want to take that idea and expand it into a scale beyond what a tv show, or the original series at the time, could handle. do i think it was executed well? not particularly. i both saw the reveal coming and was surprised by it all at once.
some parts of this movie i enjoyed. another review mentioned that the shore leave scenes are such a delight that you wish shatner had permission to make a shore leave only movie, and i agree with that. i'm sort of biased since i'm a fan of that kind of story already, but the point stands. what this movie and the previous two have in common is that it got back what the first two movies were missing; the fact that the enterprise is a found family. in search for spock they were such a found family that they abandoned their careers to save spock. voyage home has them on a goofy adventure together that lets their characters and dynamics shine. this movie centers that dynamic more on the main trio of kirk, spock, and bones. i'm glad bones actually got to be part of this time as he has been unfortunately sidelined many other times. i really enjoyed all of their scenes together even after shore leave ends.
two more things i have to complain about and then i think im done. they both involve lore inconsistency. other people might see these as minor but they bother me, and i'm not usually a stickler for these things but they're both, like, obvious facts that are overridden. the first i'm not sure of the validity of because the origin is from the animated series. i don't know if this is considered canon BUT the best episode from that series (and arguably a better episode than many of the original series ones) is the one that explores spock's backstory where he has to go back in time to save himself from dying in a vulcan coming of age ritual. this explores his relationship to the other kids that tease him, his love for animals and his pet, him and sarek's strained relationship, and so on. he explicitly does not have a half-brother here and to add a half-brother here would make the episode not make sense. i think in general having a half-brother makes his whole backstory not make sense. what, sarek managed to bear TWO children that were batshit insane by vulcan standards? if sybok was the other kid i would think spock is an angel by comparison. but whatever.
the second lore thing is at the end; spock mentions he lost sybok, a brother. kirk goes "i lost a brother once." now maybe i'm just a fool but i legitimately thought they were referencing Sam. you know. his brother. the brother that they killed off in the original series. like his for real brother, that he had, who died. but no he was just talking about spock. (the man who he was definitely about to kiss in front of the klingons but i won't get into that here.) and then they say that they do have families, meaning each other. ignoring bones' daughter they mention in the animated series, spock has at this point mostly reconciled with sarek (even if his flashback tries to make us forget that?) and as far as i can tell has always cared for his mother. kirk and bones both had relatives even if they died. i don't know. it just seemed clunky.
TLDR; weird movie. elements of it are good, some parts are just bad. definitely not the Worst thing i've ever seen.
#tags for these movies will be...#tvh#and#tff#i wish roberta lincoln had shown up in tvh. i knew she wouldnt but still.#maybe i'll say more later. brain is fried.#tos#sam's thots#gen

Spock being kind of betrayed by his love interest but after a bit of angst, everything falls into place and fluff is baaaack :>
Spock x Fem!Reader
WARNINGS: Language, sexual situations, daddy kink if you squint
Spock is a bit of a stubborn asshole in this one. He doesnât like being lied to and will not stop at getting the truth, especially when he knows itâs about him. Spock may be a little too personal in front of Bones, but itâs an emotional situation.Â
The buzz from your monitor diffused through the air, ringing in Spockâs ears. As low as it was it still brought him to groggily open his eyes. The whole room was wrapped in a soft blue glow. He sat up, hand immediately feeling the empty spot next to him.
âIâm sorry, but Iâm not exactly sure how long,â you whispered, hunched over the screen.
âTâhyâla,â he said into the glow, tone sharper than he intended.
You hurriedly flipped off the monitor.
âSpock,â you said, âIâm sorry I woke you.â You tip-toed carefully across the room and crawled back under the thermal blankets. Your boyfriend have better been thankful that you were extremely cold natured otherwise the mere temperature of his cabin would drive you out of the room.
âWhat were you-â
âI was finishing up some work for the lab. I dreamed of it and woke and immediately I had to do it before it slipped my mind.â
He could sense your deceit in the way your voice wavered, but it also did that when you were grieving. He moved to find your hand in the dark, but failed as you began to massage his scalp.
Were you avoiding his touch? he wondered.
âSleep, Sa-mekh,â you gently teased him with the only word that could make his scowl at you, other than âpapaâ itself. He did like it in bed, however, as much as he denied it.
You paused, thinking of the word critically, a surge of panic leaving your hands. He could feel it, âTell me what ails you. Who were you talking to a moment ago?â
âMyself,â you quickly yanked your hands away. âI really am sorry for waking you.â
He didnât bother turning to face you or to further question you. It would come out eventually at the test of his impatience or yours. Something was upsetting you-he felt the raw emotion even through the follicles of his scalp. He would take more time to ponder-more time to investigate.
âI shall return to  sleep - as should you. You should participate in your work on the alpha shift singularly as your sleep cycles will continue to be disrupted therefore lowering you work efficiency-â
âAnd yours?â you finished for him, half joking. âWhatever you say, Commander.â
x
âI wish everyone would stop treating us like weâre married, honestly,â you said, crossing your arms in front of Doctor McCoy.
âAll I know is that Iâve got an irritated Vulcan asking me to scan you. He thinks you're hiding something from me and heâs doing whatever he can to figure it out before actually asking you. Something about not letting him touch you. I tried to tell him it was normal once a month-â
You gave him a playful swat.
âForgive me, I jest.â
âHow ridiculous,â you replied and then sighed.
âThatâs a manâs pride for you. It escapes no species,â Nurse Chapel said handing you back the report.
âAnd as you are hiding something, Iâm guessing, I suggest you go on out with it. Heâll tear the ship apart finding an answer.â
âAnd how I think he used to indulge in smothering me in rapid fire questions. That was before our first meld,â you said, fingering the edge of the padd not having fully looked at it yet.
âIâm surprised he hasnât tried that yet,â McCoy said, âHeâs already hunted me down once. Iâm not allowed to say anything, but as a favor to me-â
âBones-â
âKeep him out of my hair and tell him whatever it is youâre lying about-â
You turned the padd to face him and his eyes enlarged, first with shock and then with mirth. He let out a hearty laugh.
âGood luck with that one. Iâd say heâs gonna turn green, but thatâs normal for him.â
âHave you  talked to your mother yet, honey?â Nurse Chapel asked.
x
Why would you have spoken with your mother so late an hour? Was it purposeful because he had been sleeping? Was it an emergency? Surely you would have told Spock.
He had already extracted the call log from his comm, even though the data had been private and locked under your information. You would fuss at him later he already knew, but this little inkling in the back of his mind reminded him. That raw feeling he felt through your hands. It terrified you. You were scared of something.
You were lying to him. You had lied to him. You had not been speaking to yourself. You had been speaking to your mother. He supposed he could contact your mother, but you two had never formally been introduced and some parties might find that offensive.
You were eating less and less and sleeping with him less and less. You werenât being as intimate as you usually were either and that was most alarming. Not because it was a requirement to Spock, but because it was a deviation of your behavior. Spock didnât usually adopt Terran colloquialisms, but once after sucking him off in the lab in the middle of a gamma shift he called you a âdirty birdâ. He always made you blush when using Terran phrases and slang.
Was it something he did? It seemed he was always doing something, but Spock could honestly not place something accidentally offensive or insulting he might have said. You were pretty good at pointing out when he was too candid or too critical. He was good at pointing out when you were too emotional and too...well too human.
Yet he relished in every bit of that-and so did you, or so he thought you had.
So what was it?
Spock didnât chew on his nails, but found himself letting the edge of his thumb rest in his teeth.
A familiar warm hand clapped him on the shoulder.
âLook alive, Spock,â the captain playfully chided.
âI assure you captain I am in no way deceased.â
x
You were pregnant. It was that simple. Yet, it didnât feel simple at all. You wouldnât hardly let Spock even touch you for fear of finding out. You were terrified of his response.
You were puking in the bathroom and had called your mother immediately. It was the second week in a row and Christineâs labs proved it.
You had a bun in your oven. You could see Spock giving you the quizzical brow at the use of the expression. You could see yourself fussing a little, telling him you knew that he knew exactly what that phrase meant and to stop acting like he didnât.
It was true what you had said to Bones.
You two werenât married. It was perfectly normal to have a child out of wedlock- that was, on Earth. You hadnât even met his parents. What would they say? It would only be a fourth Vulcan. He didnât speak fondly of his father and whenever prompted you could practically read how sour their relationship was. His father had to be fond of humans to some extent-his wife was human after all.
Would other Vulcans shame Spock? Would they shame your baby?
You heard a buzz from the comm. You got up out of bed and walked over.
âMcCoy to Yeoman L/N.â
âYes, doctor?â
âIâve got a green-blooded devil down here demanding your presence.â
You groaned into your fist.
âYou canât make me.â
âPlease.â
It was the first time you ever heard Spock say that. The tone was nearly pitiful as it was on edge.
x
âYou canât make anyone get a scan, Spock. She doesnât even work in your division,â Bones said once you arrived.
âShe has not been eating, sleeping, nor participating in the normal intimate recreations. Her behavior is off and her pallor has changed considerably,â Spock argued.
âThatâs not of anyoneâs business, Spock,â you said, appalled. He was being...so unlike himself. It was even weirder that it was in front of Bones. Spock would rather eat his hat than be any kind of vulnerable in front of...well anyone.Â
âHeâs...heâs just worried about you,â Nurse Chapel offered politely from afar.
You groaned, âI wish everyone would just stay out of it. Iâm not ready for this.â
âWell you shouldâve thought about that before you...uhâ Bones started but immediately stopped when you shot him daggers, âSpock, why donât you just ask her?â
âShe has deceived me once before. I do not trust her again to be candid. She is either emotionally upset with a matter and does not want to tell me because it concerns me or she is ill and is emotional about such and does not want to tell me. Either way I am...most concerned.â
It seemed Spock would be eating his own hat later. You could feel the heat rise in your cheeks. Was he really this worried?Â
âSpock...â
He turned to you, âI apologize for involving the doctor but I do not like it when you lie. Especially when I can be of assistance.â
You could feel water brimming at your lashes. âYouâre so smart, Spock. Just so damn smart I hate it.â
You sat on the edge of one of the stretchers, tears dribbling down your face.
âNow, look what youâve done, you ass!â Bones said angrily, âOut of my bay this instant.â
Spock ignored him and knelt down in front of you.
âI can help. And if I canât we will find a way, ashayam.â
You looked up at him. âI am upset with something...and I am sick and it does have to do with you. Both of your guesses were right.â
You held out a hand. He assumed it was to meld, but it wasnât so as you only placed his hand palm down on your still flat abdomen.
His eyes widened. âY/N...â
âI know I lied about talking to my mother. I was just afraid you would find out and I wasnât... I just donât think weâre ready. I want to be ready, but I donât know if youâre ready. Weâre not married and I donât want to cause trouble for you on Vulcan.â
He stared at your stomach for a long time, hand unmoving.
âI do not care what others think of me on Vulcan. I do not care what they think of my tâhyâla or my child,â he said with a tone of finality, âI only care what you think. If you are not ready I will not force you to beget my children.â
âAre you ready?â you asked.
âI do not think a parent ever truly is. My mother once spoke those words to me,â he admitted, âBut it is not my say in the matter whether you choose to carry out the pregnancy. Do you wish to terminate the pregnancy?â
âNo, Spock.â
He rubbed your stomach gingerly, âI am sorry for my behavior, ashayam. It was most ill-mannered of me. The mother of my child deserves better treatment.â
You placed your hand over his while it was still on your stomach, âIâm sorry too. I shouldnât lie to you.â
âWell, well,â the doctor spoke up from the awkward silence beside his nurse, âI guess we ought to pass around cigars now?â
It seemed you both had forgot that Bones and Christine were still even there, witnessing the sappy moment between you two.Â
Spock repaired that easily.Â
âI will not allow my tâhyâla to engage in such a habit or for those surrounding her to do so. Certainly, doctor, you do not permit such unhealthy behaviors to pregnant persons.â
You laughed and Bones rolled his eyes.
Another day on the Enterprise, you thought. Another day.

Terrigenisis Series Masterlist    Divider by @firefly-graphics
As the months went by, the relationship between Steve, Bucky, and yourself became more and more solid. You talked about the future, made plans, and worked through the few issues that had arisen. There had been missions and you had become an integral part of the team. You were happy. You had a job you loved, two men you loved, a home, and a family in your team. It was idyllic. Which terrified you at times. When the fear began to overwhelm you, Bucky and Steve were there for you. They let you express your fears and helped you through them.Â
You were gearing up for a mission to take out a large Hydra base that had been recently discovered. The intel on its existence was solid even though what was going on there was a mystery. Some information had been gleaned through surveillance but it was mostly pictures of objects with an alien language. Thor and Loki were expected to arrive today to help and give some information on what these items could be.Â
The team was awaiting their arrival in the conference room except Steve and Tony who were greeting them. You were going over mission details and making tactical plans with the available information.
âSo, what are Thor and Loki like?â You ask the group in general.Â
âThorâs a good guy. Nice. A little terse at times. Intense.â Bruce replies. Â
âWhat about Loki?â You look at Bruce.Â
âHeâs a bag of cats. Heâs trying to be⌠different. Better, I guess. Thatâs why heâs coming. Thor is trusting him. I guess weâll have to try, too.â Bruce shrugs as Natasha scoffs.Â
âBe careful around Loki. Thereâs a reason heâs the god of mischief.â Natasha warns.
âNoted.â You say just as they walk in. You immediately smile when you catch Steveâs eye but turn your attention to the two Asgardians as they enter. Steve makes introductions as Tony pulls up the intel photos for the two gods.Â
âThis looks to be Kree.â Thor states.Â
âIt is.â Loki confirms as he swipes through the photos.Â
âKree?â You say bringing Thorâs attention to you.
âYes. They-â
âCreated Inhumans.âÂ
âYes. You are familiar with the Inhumans?â Thor asks.Â
âI am an Inhuman.â You watch the two for any reaction.Â
âAh, a fellow abomination.â Loki grins. âWhat are your powers?â
You stare Loki down for a moment. Interpreting no malice in his remarks, you reply, âWarging, understanding of all vocal communication, increased strength and stamina.â
âInteresting.â Loki narrows his eyes.
âWarging?â Thor asks and you give him a brief explanation.Â
Going back to the available information, the team gleans all it can to formulate a plan. Afterwards, everyone moves to the common room to relax while Tony has a meal brought in.Â
âLoki has been watching you the entire time weâve been in here.â Natasha murmurs to you.Â
âNovelty, I guess.â You shrug.Â
âMaybe so. Are you okay?âÂ
âJust have a headache all of a sudden.â You say.Â
âWant me to get you something?â
âNo, Iâll-mmph! Ow. It feels like an icepick in my head.â You say.Â
Natashaâs eyes widen and her head snaps up, âLoki, stop!â
You make eye contact with the god and feel another stab of pain. Realizing he is trying to get in your head, you push back at the feeling.Â
âWhat are you doing, brother?â Thor grabs his arm.Â
âI just wanted to see how far her capabilities went, brother. She began fighting me. Strong, this one.â Loki smirks.Â
âKeep your mind games to yourself, Loki!â Steve growls.Â
âNo, itâs okay.â You say. âTry.â
âWhat?â Steve turns to you with a stern look.Â
âI want to see if he can. I canât know how far my abilities go if I donât push them. Most of my powers have to do with my senses. Iâm just curious.â You shrug.
âDoll, I donât know if thatâs a good idea.â Bucky warns. âIt was obviously causing you pain.â
âItâs not a big deal. Will you try again, Loki?â You ask.Â
âAt your service, darling.â Loki grins and concentrates on you again. Your head aches almost immediately and the sharp stabbing pain returns but you fight back against it. Using the same thought process you use when warging you concentrate on Loki, pushing back against his mental invasion. The pain in your head increases the more you fight back but you arenât willing to stop. You feel a surge from Loki and automatically push back at him with a mental force that suddenly turns your eyes green as the godâs and you realize you have entered his mind. Intense pain spikes through you bringing you to your knees as you grab the sides of your head. A scream tears from your throat before you black out.Â
You wake in Buckyâs arms as he takes quick strides towards the elevator.Â
âBucky. Iâm okay.â You say.Â
âYou passed out. You arenât okay.â Bucky says firmly.Â
âWeâre just going to take you to get checked out, sweetheart.â Steve says from right beside you.Â
âNo, Iâm fine. Put me down.â You squirm in Buckyâs arms.Â
âDoll-â âSweetheart-â
âDown! Now!â You all but shout. Bucky reluctantly lowers you to the floor and you stand, holding his shoulder for support. âWell, that was new.â
âWhat did Loki do to you?â Steve growls.
âI only did as she asked.â Loki defends himself. âShe managed to fight my attempts. It was quite impressive. Not many can keep me out of their mind as she did. And then, she slipped into my mind. It probably overwhelmed her as sheâs not used to such an exertion.â
âAgreed.â You say. âIâve never been able to do that with a human before.â
âYou were probably able to because I have to open my mind in order to reach out. That was admirable.â Loki says.Â
âUh, thanks?â You laugh lightly.Â
âDid you see anything?â Loki asks with eyes narrowed.
âIt was pretty jumbled.â You admit.
âThatâs normal for a first timer. Come, letâs discuss our little experiment.â Loki wraps your hand around his arm and guides you away from your two supersoldiers who glare at Loki as the two of you sit on the loveseat. When dinner is ready, you sit at the table between Bucky and Steve. Loki is seated across from you with Thor next to him and the table is jovial as everyone enjoys the company and food. You notice that Loki retreats into himself during the meal. As soon as the meal is over, you approach Loki again to ask more questions about his abilities. Everyone drifts into the common room while you and Loki sit at one end of the table and talk. He has a great deal of knowledge regarding the Kree, Inhumans, and different abilities. You learn more in two hours than you had in the six months with your Inhuman team.Â
âHey Doll. Weâre heading to the room.â Bucky approaches to say.Â
âOkay, Love. Iâll be there shortly.â You smile up at him as he leans down to plant a quick kiss on your lips.Â
Loki watches as Bucky leaves with a smirk, âSo, you and Sergeant Bar-â
âSweetheart, you coming to bed?â Steve interrupts.Â
âSoon, Babe. Loki is giving me some history on the Kree.âÂ
Steve eyes Loki for a moment before leaning down to kiss you possessively âDonât be too long.â
âI wonât.â You smile at him as he leaves. Turning back to Loki, itâs your turn to smirk, âYes, Me and Bucky and Steve.â
âThat was unexpected.â Loki raises an eyebrow.Â
âI imagine not much surprises you.â You laugh.
âVery little.â Loki says.Â
âYou know, I was prepared to hate you but⌠you arenât exactly what I was expecting.âÂ
âI was under the influence of other entities during the Battle of New York. It spoke to the basest part of me. I know Iâll never fully make up for it but Iâm hopeful I can do some good to set it to rights.âÂ
âIâm sure you will. Do some good, that is. I should head to bed. Good night, Loki.â
âGood night.â Loki nods his head and joins his brother.Â
You were impressed with him. Truthfully, you had planned on hating him. After all, he had killed Coulson but when you had slipped into his mind you had felt his remorse. You were honest when you told him that everything was jumbled. The memories and images that came through had been but his feelings had been loud and clear. Inferiority, remorse, contrition, fear, and hope had suffused you when your minds were joined. It had softened you towards him and you hoped that he could find some corner of redemption in all of this.Â
When you get to the bedroom, you pause a minute to smile at Steve and Bucky cuddled up together in the bed.Â
âCome join us, pretty girl.â Steve beckons.Â
âWhat were you and Loki talking about that kept you so enthralled?â Bucky groused.Â
âCareful, Buck. You almost sound jealous.â You laugh. âWe were talking about the Kree and inhumans and different abilities. I learned a good bit from him. Loki offered to bring some information and writings when he comes again.â
âHe doesnât usually talk to any of us much when heâs around.â Steve says.Â
âYeah?âÂ
âYeah. Usually all we get out of him is sly remarks.â Bucky says.Â
âHuh. Probably a defense mechanism. He feels he has a lot to make up for and know no one really likes him.â You offer.
âHow did you find that out?â Steve asks.
âWhen we did the Vulcan mindmeld. I could feel what he was feeling more than anything else. It told quite the story in and of itself.â
âLoki is a master manipulator.â Steve warns.
âI understand.â You reassure them. âAnd we leave for mission tomorrow for who knows how long. Is there anything you'd like to do before that happens?â
âYeah.â âDefinitely.â They speak at the same time.Â
âWhat would that be?â You ask.Â
âYou.â They say in unison.

Wherever you go â Spock
Pairing: Spock x reader (gender neutral)
Warnings: mentions of blood and injury
Words: 3943
A/N: I had to write this after discussing the quick idea of it with @elysiansith
Please do not repost my work on other sites or platforms.
-
âNo, Iâll do anything but thatâ you insisted, shaking your head
âCome on, you lost the bet, you agreed to this beforehandâ
âIt was agreed that I would do something that involved Spockâ
âAnd I didnât tell you what exactly so youâve gotta do itâ
âCome on, search something else. Make me spill a drink on him, sing a song in front of his quarter but not thisâ
âNah, that wonât be as funnyâ
âNo pleaseâ you begged
âOh come on, heâll ask you right away. I donât think he likes it if people are following him aroundâ you sighed
âBut what do you mean with everywhere? I canât go to his quarters if he doesnât invite me in. What if heâs on the toilet?â
âOkay well that are exceptionsâ
âWhat is while Iâm on my shift? I canât just get up and leave the bridge whenever the Commander doesâ
âFine, then youâll need to say that you need to do something and then go to the toilet or something. Or just ask if you can go with himâ you shook your head
âNo please choose something else, this is ridiculous. Besides, when he does ask me why Iâm following him, what am I supposed to say? He wonât understand the bet thingâ
âThen tell him the truthâ
âNoâ
âI bet heâll find your declaration of love logicalâ
âYeah sure. But what if someone else asks why Iâm following Spock everywhere?â
âThat doesnât count. Youâre not relieved thenâ
âOh come on! You know exactly that Spock wonât address the matter until some days laterâ
âI know. Whichâll make it funnier for meâ
âYouâre the worstâ
âI knowâ
-
As you had agreed with your friend, you would start with following Spock as soon as your shift started on the next day. But before you could start, the Captain came to you and said there was something he had to discuss with you.
âAm I in trouble?â you asked after the doors of the turbolift closed
âNo, not at all. Just wanted to say that your friend informed be about the betting debt you have to honorâ
âOh God please no. Iâd rather be in troubleâ
âWell anyway, I just wanted to say that youâre free to leave whenever Spock goes. I might even send you with him from the startâ
âWhat crime did I commit?â
âNow come on, Lieutenant. Almost everyone on this ship knows about your crush on Mr Pointy. Except for him but he doesnât notice anything that has to do with others and their feelings. But something tells me, he cares for you too in a way that is more than just a professional relationshipâ
âGreat and I just thought this couldnât get any worseâ the lift stopped and the Captain ordered to bring you to the bridge again.
âOi, others would be happy to hear such news. Considering itâs Spock itâs almost as good as a âhe loves you tooââ you let out a groan.
âJust greatâ you repeated and the Captain only chuckled âI hope I die from embarrassmentâ
âNow come on, maybe it will quite alrightâ
âYeah and you surely believe in the Easter bunny and Santa Clause?â
âMost did as a kidâ you shook your head. When you finally were back on the bridge you were more or less pulled to the First Officerâs station âMr Spockâ
âCaptain, Lieutenant (Y/L/N)â he greeted back.
âYou know, Iâve been thinking about how you could use help sometimesâ
âI doubt I have ever addressed such a matter and I do not know what could have given you the impression I wouldâŚâ
âThat is why I decided to name (Y/N) as your assistantâ
âNoâ you moaned
âSo I think it would be great if the two of you could get to know each other a bit and spend time togetherâ
âNoâ you groaned, knowing that it meant it would only prolong your betting debt because it would deter the Vulcan from asking you why you followed him
âVery wellâ Spock answered after having eyed you âPlease have a seat, Lieutenantâ he slightly nodded his head to the vacant chair that was at an empty console.
âYou know I wouldnât mind if we collided with an asteroid todayâ you muttered to yourself as you sank down in the chair. It kinda looked like maybe you had to follow him to the toilet anyway to have him ask what you were doing.
-
As he had announced, the Captain kept sending you after Spock whenever he left the bridge and although Spock kept insisting that it was not necessary you followed him, Kirk too insisted on you accompanying him since he could also make it an order. So in a way, you were glad when your shift was over. Since Spock stayed a little longer, you too wanted to do this so that you could go with him but then you remembered that you only had to follow him, it had never been said that you had to wait for him to move. So you said goodbye and wished him a nice evening after five minutes and returned to your quarters. Of course your friend called you to hear how it was going and was delighted when you mentioned what the Captain was doing.
Also the following day was quite the same but fortunately this time Spock only had to leave once. But this evening he left with all of you and since you found it would be creepy to just follow him you took a deep breath you asked him if he would like to have dinner with you. To your surprise he agreed. But it also relieved you because otherwise youâd still have to follow him, which would have made it even more awkward. On the other hand, then he probably would have asked you about the meaning of it.
âIâm sorry by the way. For being around you all the time. But we donât have a choice during work and I think it would make sense if we got used to it. Maybe it would help to get to know each other betterâ you gave a shrug
âYou do not need to apologizeâ
âBut⌠donât you wonder why?â
âYou mean if I wish to learn the reason that you decided to spend time with me?â
âYesâ
âNo. After all you have just explained your reasoningâ shit. That meant he probably wouldnât ask you for the reason that. Of course unless you passed boundaries in a way. Which was something you were not willing to do. Not only because he was a superior officer and a colleague but also because you didnât want him to think negatively of you âIf you want, you can search a suitable table while I get food from the replicatorâ
âHmâ he had allowed you to leave but the rules of the lost bet said that you had to ignore that and still stay with him âOr what if we both got food and then search a place together? I donât know maybe you have something like a favorite table or you find that there are seats that are better than othersâ he raised an eyebrow
âHaving a preference towards a seat seems illogical but I agree to your suggestionâ
âGreatâ you smiled.
-
For some reason, a part of you was surprised that you had a very nice evening with Spock and that you enjoyed it more than you thought. Of course you had to accompany him to his quarters afterwards and he had only said that you did not need to do this and but you had just insisted that you hadnât noticed and thought it wouldnât make sense to turn around now. But what surprised you most was that he thanked you for spending the evening with him, even though you had asked him to do so. Maybe your friend and the Captain were right. Maybe all of this wasnât so bad. Which didnât mean you were happy about it.
On the following day, however, you were quite glad about the fact that you were following Spock around. He was scheduled to go on a planet mission and or course Captain Kirk insisted that you went with him, as his assistant. A part of you wondered what would happen once the whole betting debt was resolved. If you would still be his assistant then. Maybe you should talk to Kirk about this. Because somehow you didnât know if that was what you wanted. What if it meant you would be promoted? It didnât feel right if that would just happen because of a bet. But it would be cool and a great way to pay your friend back in a way. Once you arrived on the planet, Spock started to put you into small groups in which you should explore the planet. And in the end, you were left but all teams of two were already formed so he just told you to join one of the groups
âActuallyâŚâ you said âSince I was made your assistant, I thought I could go with you?â right now you didnât even know if you just wanted to be around him or if you just did it because of your bet. Your stupid friend had been right that you would enjoy following him at times
âVery well, Lieutenant, you may come with meâ you gave a nod and took out your tricorder to get started with work. On your little tour, you finally came to a cave. While Spock stayed away from it you went closer and closer, curious to see what was inside. âAre you certain you wish to go inside?â he asked
âI just want to have a look inside. I wonât even go in far. Maybe there is something really interesting insideâ he gave a nod and came closer, walking past you and entered the cave
âIt actually was my caveâ you muttered but followed him. He kept walking and walking until you reached a huge kind of hall âOkay wow that is awesomeâ you breathed as you started to make even more recordings while Spock must have seen something else. It turned out to be a nest with five big, turquoise eggs. Your superior had to squat down and started to examine them while you were not so happy anymore. What if suddenly the parents came and got mad? You doubted it ever was a good idea to get to close to animalâs babies. But the Vulcan didnât seem to worry at all and he even touched one of the eggs with his palm. Shaking your head you walked away and started slapping the cold stone, trying to get a tricorder reading on them to determine the material. Suddenly you felt Spock look at you âSomething wrong?â
âCan you try not to make any sounds?â
âWhy that? Is somethingâŚâ
âShhâ you were surprised that he actually shushed you. But it made you react and you were quiet, trying to listen to what he could have been hearing. Then you finally did hear something and you did not like it. It sounded like something screeching and rather loud thumps
âMaybe we should leave?â you asked Spock who gave a nod and you were trying to get back to the tunnel you had been coming from but it was blocked by a huge grey-brown animal that looked a lot like a pterosaur. âOkay I suppose Mommy is back home. And sheâs blocking our only way outâ
âWe cannot be certain if it is a femaleâ the animal screeched at you and started coming at you
âBut we can be certain that it is madâ you growled as you jumped aside and regretted that you had no phaser with you.
âAs soon as it unblocks the entrance you need to runâ
âAnd leave you behind with this Pteranodon? It looks like it could swallow you wholeâ
âJudging by its size I suppose that the term Quetzalcaotlus would be more fittingâ
âThis or that, itâs mad and you donât stand a chanceâ luckily, he took out his phaser and tried to shoot the alien but it didnât seem to deter it a lot âJust greatâ you muttered as it came closer to Spock and when he tried to dive away under it, the being still managed to dig his claws into his back. When the animal moved away you saw that it had torn quite a piece of Spockâs uniform and his back was quickly covered in green blood. Unfortunately, the animal didnât seem done and tried to pick at the Vulcan with itâs long beak, only narrowly missing him because he had rolled onto his back and then back to his stomach and was trying to get up. Not knowing what to do, you ran towards the nest and heaved one of the eggs out of it, kicking it away from it. Of course that caught the alien animalâs attention and it was slowly coming closer to you after it used itâs beak to stop the rolling egg. Quickly, you took another egg and rolled it into the other direction and then a third one in yet another direction. As it seemed the being decided that the eggs were more important than you and went after them so that you hurried over to Spock, pulling him back to his feet. He didnât seem to be in best form, so you draped his arm over your shoulders, trying to support him
âLeaving me behind would increase your changes of escape and survival by 76.2âŚâ
âShhâ you said âIt was my idea to go in there and we both will get out. Now come onâ you started pulling him back to the tunnel and he complied. Much to your luck, the alien was not following you anymore and you hoped it would stay like this and that not a second one of them would come. Shortly before you reached the exit of the cave, your superior took out his communicator, drumming up the rest of the landing party but you just snatched it out of his hand and then contacted the ship, telling them to beam Spock up right now because he was injured. âAnd donât you dare saying something like âitâs just a scratch. I can do thisââ
âSeeing that the being has hit me with three of his claws it would be incorrect to claim that I only obtained one scratchâ you rolled your eyes when you felt the transporter beam and then were back on the Enterprise with him.
âDear God, what happened?â the man behind the console asked
âWe got attacked by an angry Mommy pterosaurâ
âWell shit but the fact that it was a dinosaur is coolâ
âI doubt it was a real dinosaurâ
âYeah whatever. All I hope is that this being wasnât poisonous somehow because that looks quite bad like this alreadyâ you didnât even dare to throw a glance to his back, knowing youâd regret it. You shifted your hold on him a little and wanted to bring him to sick bay when you met some doctors and nurses that probably had been on their way to you. Of course they were taking over for you and started asking questions about what had happened while they ran scanners over the two of you. Finally, you reached Medbay and one of the nurses told you that you couldnât come in but much to your surprise Spock said that it was okay if you stayed with him. Needless to say that it flattered you and made you happy. Of course you couldnât be in their way as they treated his injuries but afterwards you were allowed to move closer and looked down at him, not sure what to say. Â âDoes it hurt?â
âNo, the medication I received is still effectiveâ you gave a nod
âDo you think theyâll give you more?â
âShould I request for some, yesâ you gave a nod and were not so sure what else to say but luckily he continued â(Y/N)â
âYes?â
âWhile your choice to help me escape as well was not entirely logical since it endangered your own life, I still appreciate your actionsâ you chuckled
âI suppose this is your way of saying thank you?â
âNo. I merely wanted to tell you that I appreciated what you did. However, I do thank you for helping meâ
âYouâre welcome. And Iâm sorry I even wanted to go inside this cave. If I hadnât, this wouldnât have happenedâ
âAs you surely know, I have taken the lead upon entering the cave therefore you do not need to feel responsible for what has occurred for it is not your fallacy in any wayâ you gave a nod âI would have explored the cavern even if you had not been with meâ
âSo a good thing I started following you around, huh?â you chuckled. Maybe you should thank your friend anyway.
âI suppose soâ
âAnd you still donât wonder why?â
âI do. However, the Captain has asked me not to inquire the reasonâ
âHe did what?â
âHe requested I did not ask you for the reason that you are following me aroundâ
âThat idiotâ you muttered
âWhy does this bother you?â
âUhm⌠just becauseâ
âPerhaps it has to do with the fact that you wish to be around me as much as you can due to your affection for meâ
âMy what?!â
âIs it not true that you hold romantic affection for me?â
âI-IâŚ. How the hell did you know that?â
âDr McCoy has informed me about it three months, two weeks and five days ago when he has been intoxicatedâ
âWait you knew for almost four months and never said a word?â
âI was thinking you would wish to tell me about it yourselfâ
âFuck thatâs embarrassingâ
âWhy do you think so?â
âWell uh, here you are, telling me you knew and you donât even seem to care. Because you surely donât like me the same wayâ
âYour statement is correctâ you stood there like struck by a lightning. Of course you had suggested it but hearing it like this, in such words, made it even worse. You really had to ask your friend to stop the stupid betting debt because it did not have the effect as you both wished. âYet I have considered the information in an attempt to determine what you mean to me. I have come to the conclusion that I care about you in a way I have never cared about another but I cannot say if this is what humans would consider as loving someone, which is why I have found it better to not tell you since it could disappoint youâ
âSo you say you care about me? But why would this disappoint me?â
âWhile I am not certain which answer humans expect after the confess their feelings, I do believe that what I have just said is not itâ
âWell it wouldnât be nice to hear this from a human but from a Vulcan it is different. I-I mean I probably have already known you would not âloveâ me. Or well maybe you do but you would suppress it. I mean⌠I didnât even know what I was expecting when I was thinking about telling you how I feel. I never really thought as far as your answer, you know. My mind just always kinda skipped that partâ
âIf you say that you have skipped my answer, might I inquire the outcome you have imagined?â
âWell there were different scenarios of course. In most of them we just decided to be friends, sometimes we came together as a couple and sometimes it just ended in the most logical wayâ
âIf you would clarify, which is the most logical way?â
âOkay good back then I thought that youâd just tell me you feel nothing for meâŚ. but now you told me that you care for me, whatever exactly that means. So maybe I was right about the friends vision oneâ you gave a shrug and let out a sigh
â(Y/N)?â he said after some seconds
âYesâ
âI personally would prefer one of the scenarios where we start courtingâ you stare at him in disbelief.
âBut⌠what if it turns out that you donât love me or something?â
â(Y/N), as I have already assured you I care about you. And it is a different way of affection than the one I hold for my mother or Jim. Which is why I am certain that it must be a romantic affectionâ
âOhâ you looked down, then started smiling âWell that sounds awesomeâ you said âBut you donât even know what I have planned in all my scenariosâ he raised an eyebrow
âI am certain you will let me know and I am willing to try out different things since I do not know much of human courtship. Maybe I can use the time I spend on sick leave to carry out some research on the topicâ you chuckled
âOnly if you want. After all, you live the Vulcan way and I could do some research on that as well. And maybe itâs best if we just do whatever we both are fine withâ
âThat sounds agreeableâ you gave a nod and considered if it was appropriate if you took his hand but then you just decided to do it and see how he reacted. It seemed, like he was a little surprised but then squeezed your hand back, making you smile.
âI suppose that dissolves my betting debt as wellâ
âWhich betting debt?â
âOh⌠wellâ you chuckled, not sure if you should tell him but then grinned âIâm gonna tell you the real reason I followed you around. I lost a bet and because of it, I had to follow you around until you asked me why. But since the Captain heard of it, he made sure to give me a logical reason to follow you around by making me your assistant and asking you not to ask me why Iâm following youâ he raised his eyebrow again
âPlease remind me to offer my thanks to him and your friendâ
âNo that would be so embarrassing!â you protested âBut that doesnât mean Iâm fired?â
âFire?â
âWell, I only was made your assistant because of the betâ
âI would not have agreed to the proposition if I did not believe you were suitable for the position. If you prefer your previous occupation, however, I willâŚââ
âNo! I mean I like it but working with you is fun too. I just thought you would be fed up with me or what do I know. Or that you would not want me as your assistant after I told you the reason why I became it in the first placeâ
âI have believed humans would enjoy to work with their partner if possible?â
âWell yes, but youâre Vulcanâ
âI am also half-humanâ you chuckled
âSo youâll half enjoy working with me?â
âNo, I suppose I will fully enjoy itâ you smiled at him
âIâm just asking for my own safetyâ you heard McCoy call suddenly âAre you two decent so I can let Jim in? Or heâll rip off my headâ
âNo you may allow him to comeâ Spock said âThere is something that I and (Y/N) must inform him aboutâ he added with a look to you that could be described as soft. At least for his standards. Well Spock probably was right about one point: you owed your friend a big thank you.

The Cave
Long time no see! Sorry itâs been a while. Iâve been in grad school and itâs pretty much sucked the life out of me. But I really missed writing so I figured I could write for my favorite character. Thank you so much for reading! Pairings: Leonard McCoy x Kirk!Reader
*Part two is here
Words: 4.8K
Warnings: injury, fluff, angst (?), swearing, badly written fight scene, Leonard and Reader being stubborn shits, Spock being a cocky shit
Tags: @bloodangelballerina @theweepingvulcan91â If anyone else would like to be added let me know!
âCaptain.â Spock greeted as he caught up to his friend. Jim clapped him on the shoulder. âI must commend you and Commander Kirk on your success in Nuvaruta. Not many would have been able to complete that mission.âÂ
âEh, nothing we couldnât handle. Iâm just surprised she didnât drop the artifact when she got hit!â Jim laughed.Â
âWell, it was only a flesh wound. A woman of her position is surely used to it by now. No need to worry about her.â An ensign brushed by Jim, yelping out an apology.Â
âSheâs still my sister, Spock. Head of security or not, I always worry about her.â
âAnd captain or not, she will always worry about you.âÂ
âWell-â They both got quiet when they reached medbay, hearing yelling and seeing Nurse Chapel waiting outside the door, acting like nothing was happening and playing with her nails.
âNurse Chapel, is everything alright?â Spock asked and she looked up at the science officer.Â
âOh, just the same thing every time Commander Kirk comes back from a mission.â Jim sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.Â
âHow many times are you gonna be in my damn medbay! I swear you get hurt more in a day than an ensign does in a whole year!â Leonard bit and you rolled your eyes.Â
âHow many times are you gonna complain every time you see me? I said thank you!â You replied. âYou act like Iâm ungrateful!â
âNo youâre just stubborn as a bull!â
âPot calling kettle black!â You laughed incredulously. âItâs in my job description to get hurt, itâs in yours to patch me up! But you canât do that without henpecking at me every damn time!âÂ
Jim, Spock, and Christine all waited outside. By this point in the mission, they all knew that it was better to just wait it out than to break it up.Â
âHenpecking?â
âYes! I swear you like it when I come in because it gives you something to gripe about!â
âNo because you coming in pushes me that much closer to an ulcer! Just get outta my medbay, I got work to do!â
âGladly!â You walked out of medbay, looking to see the three waiting outside. âHey.â
âAlright, câmon. I need your report.â You and Jim walked away, leaving Christine and Spock near medbay. They walked in to see Leonard sitting at his desk with his forehead in his hand.Â
âDoctor, are you alright?â Christine asked and he sighed.Â
âYes, Nurse Chapel. Iâm fine.â He replied. âWhaddya need, Spock?â
âI came here with no intention to talk to you, but now it seems I have. I would like to talk to you about Commander Kirk. Why is it that you two argue so much?â The vein in Leonardâs forehead seemed like it was about to pop as he turned to face the Vulcan.Â
âBecause sheâs stubborn and reckless, thatâs why!â
âAs are you.â Christine looked at Spock with her eyebrows raised and stepped back a bit when Leonard stood up.
âI am not!â
âYou are, which is why I am confused. Of course, you are not as reckless as Commander Kirk but you are as much if not more stubborn. You both share a drier sense of humor, both care a great deal about those you work with-â
âWhatâs your point, Spock?â
âI believe you become irritated when sheâs hurt because you care for her. The more she gets hurt, the more irritable you become. Thereâs a remarkable amount of tension between you two.â Spock clasped his hands behind his back as Leonard walked up to him. âYou are simply worried about her and are too stubborn to admit your feelings for her. Meaning it comes out in irritation and rage, making her angry and irritable.âÂ
âI donât like her.â
âI think Commander Spock has a point...Doctor.â Christine interjected. âI think youâre also frustrated because you feel like you canât like her. She is the Captainâs sister after all.â
âGood point, Nurse Chapel.â Spock commended. âIt seems that she might be forbidden to our doctor.â
âA forbidden fruit, if you will.â Christine offered and Spock raised an eyebrow at her. Leonard rubbed his temples and she tried to hide her smile from him.Â
âSpock, arenât you needed on the bridge?â
âOh no, not for some time.â
XXXXXX
Crew-
We are headed down to the planet of Thurilia. It is a barren planet that has not been inhabited in over 100 years but it carries another artifact integral to the Nimbus mission. Donât mistake itâs barrenness for peace, there are hostile Romulans also looking for the artifact. We must also be wary of dust storms and flying debris from crash landed ships. For this mission I will require Commander Kirk, Commander Spock, and Doctor McCoy. Â
âGot everything you need, lass?â You finished attaching your phaser, communicator, and collapsible kali. You missed your regular uniform, all of you required to wear a more suitable and impenetrable to the suffocating dust. It was too bulky for your liking but you knew it was more practical.Â
âReady, Scotty. Just make sure to remember to beam us up.â You clapped his shoulder and jogged over to the teleporter. Of course, the only spot was next to Leonard. âDr. McCoy.â
âCommander.â You noticed Spock looking over at the two of you and you furrowed your brows at him.Â
âReady, Scotty.â Jim stated. You would never get used to the tingling of the teleporter. It would always be a strange sensation no matter how many times you used it. You all landed on the planet and you wondered if it made Spock feel the least bit homesick. It was a desert, but the sand was purple and the sky always dark.Â
âAlright, everyone make sure your masks work. Weâll only have a little bit of warning before a storm kicks in. Lieutenant Uhura will be watching that for us. It gives off a a chemical signature but thatâll be hard to pinpoint with the dust and the crash sites. If you spot any romulans, call for backup and donât fight them alone.â
âShould we go off in pairs, Captain?â
âI think we should. Might attract less attention and we might find it faster.â
âI shall go with you then, Captain.â You and Leonardâs heads snapped up from your tricorders.Â
âOf course, Mr. Spock.âÂ
âJim are you sure splitting up is the best idea?â You replied and Jim patted you on the shoulder.Â
âOf course. I want you two to go northeast towards the strongest signature. Spock and I will go southwest towards the strongest signature.â The two walked away, leaving you and Leonard standing dumbfounded.Â
âThat green blooded hobgoblin.â Leonard muttered under his breath as you started following the signature.Â
âYou cominâ or not?â You called over your shoulder. He jogged up to catch up with you and pulled out his own tricorder. You were both silent, the only sounds coming from the wind and the robes you were wearing flapping.Â
âHowâs your shoulder?â He asked and you looked over at him quickly.
âItâs much better now, thank you.â He nodded. However, he wasnât looking where he was stepping and felt his foot sinking down quickly. âLeonard!â The sand felt like it was grappling him, staining his robes a deep purple against the brown. You grabbed his arms and started to pull him out, your feet lacking traction and eventually you resorted to digging your knees in and pulling him along as he kicked. The grip loosened and he fell on top of you, pushing you into the sand. He quickly rolled off of you and panted like a wild dog.Â
âAre you alright?â
âIâm fine, this is why I hate space.â He replied and you chuckled.Â
âWelp, gives you one more thing to complain about.â You stood up, dusting off your robes and offered your hand to him. âWatch where youâre stepping.âÂ
âYeah, yeah, got it.â He took it and you helped him up. âThis place is a death trap.â
âI dunno, I kinda like it.â You responded. âIf you look closely, the sand sparkles a bit.â
âI just got a close look, or have you already forgotten?â You rolled your eyes and kept following the signature.Â
âYou couldâve gotten a closer look had I not been here.â The two of you were silent save for the wind and the beeping of your tricorders. It was so peaceful yet destructive at the same time. No one could possibly live there, it had claimed the lives of so many and had become a resting ground for pieces of space travel. But the silence, the stars, it was beautiful in a way.Â
âCommander, Doctor, Iâm picking up a storm. Might want to head for cover.â Uhura informed over your communicators.Â
âSee any structures?â Leonard asked. You squinted down at your tricorder, the sandy wind already picking up.Â
âThereâs a cave near us, if we hurry we can get there before it gets too bad!â You called back. As you traveled, it became increasingly difficult to move or see. You had to trust your tricorder and stick close to Leonard.
Suddenly, something whizzed by in front of the both of you.Â
Then another.
âHurry!â You called back and grabbed his hand. From what you can guess, pieces of a nearby ship had begun to fly off. Each piece nearly missed you by mere feet. At least for a little bit.
âAh!â Leonard cried and faltered a bit.
âWeâre almost to the cave! I can see it!â You pushed him into the cave and looked to your left. A large piece of metal was bounding right towards you. You yelped and jumped in, right before the metal buried itself in the sand. You stared blankly as you realized it had blocked the entrance save for a small corner at the top. You turned around when you heard Leonard hiss in pain and saw blood soaking his robes. A piece of shrapnel had impaled itself into his side. âLeonard! Are you okay?â
âIâll be fine!â He snapped and you sighed, pulling back the robes and mask from your face.Â
âYou lay down, Iâm going to get some light in here.â You pulled out your phaser and luckily found a pile of rocks. You shot at them, making them burn a bright red and give off some light. âWhereâs your med kit?â
âWhat?â
âWe gotta fix that up. Just tell me what to do and Iâll do it. Whereâs your medkit?â you unwrapped part of your robes and made a makeshift pillow for him as he pulled out his kit.Â
âYou sure about this?â
âYou got a better idea?â He laid down and rested his head. You cut away at the fabric on the robes and he jumped when it pulled at the piece of shrapnel.
âBe careful!âÂ
âIâm trying to be, you mule!â You snapped back and he stared at you.
âDid you just call me a mule?â
âA mule thatâs gonna tell me how to stitch it up.â He sighed and prepared himself.
âAlright, hit me with the hypospray on the furthest right. Thatâll numb it.â You did it quickly. âNow turn whateverâs in there.â
âWhat?â You yelped. âTurn it.â You did as he asked, wincing as it spun through the flesh slightly. He could still feel a little bit it wasnât that painful. âOkay it turned, itâs just in my flesh, not a rib. Now pull it out.â âBut thatâll make you bleed more.â
âJust do it.â You prepared yourself and quickly yanked it out. He jumped again and winced. âThird hypospray from the right!â You quickly injected it and the bleeding immediately slowed. âTake the device on the top left and do a criss-cross on it.â You did it, watching as the material tightened up and closed the wound. âNow clean it and letâs hope weâre found before itâs infected.âÂ
âYou donât have a hypospray for that?â He just looked at you, making you roll your eyes. âAre you alright?â
âI will be.â You pulled out your communicator.
âKirk to Kirk.â
âKirk here.â
âDoctor McCoy and I are trapped in a cave by a piece of a ship. Iâll send you our location so that you two can come get us when the stormâs over.â âAre you okay?â
âIâm fine, Doctor McCoy got hit by a piece of shrapnel.â
âIâll be fine, Jim.â Leonard called out.Â
âYou two hang tight, weâll be there as soon as we can.â You took off the rest of your robes, leaving you in a black top and pants.Â
âAre you cold?â
âNo, Iâm fine.â Leonard replied.Â
âHow many of those numbing hyposprays do you have?â
âOne more. Iâll let you know if it gets too bad.â He replied and you nodded. You were both silent as you took inventory of what you had in the cave. You had some emergency stuff but if the storm lasted a while there might be trouble.Â
âThanks.â
âHuh?â You spun your head around and saw Leonard looking at you.
âThank you, for fixing me up. You did a pretty good job.â
âYouâre welcome. I think thatâs the first genuine compliment youâve ever given me.â You smirked and he chuckled.Â
âI guess Iâve been a little rough on you.â You sniffed in laughed and sat down next to him, getting close to him and the rock for warmth.Â
âA little?âÂ
âAlright, alright, I get it.â He replied. âI guess I can be a little to hard on you.â You hummed in response. âYâknow youâre not that much of a peach yourself.â
âA georgia peach?â You replied and he rolled his eyes. âLook, I know Iâm not the easiest person to work with but youâre not either. And weâre stuck in this cave together until they come and get us. So all we have to do is not kill each other until Jim and Spock come or something comes to kill us.â
âComforting.â He replied.
âI try.â
XXXXXX
You were busy going through your logs on your PADD, sneaking your eyes over to Leonard every now and then to make sure he was alright. To make the time pass by a little faster, you played music lowly. Of course you two had to argue about what kind of music for a little bit before you just put on some Tchaikovsky. You had some spattered communication with Jim and Spock but the dust storms had picked up too much to the point they had to hole up somewhere too. Last you checked, they were still okay and the doctor had taken his last hypospray.
âSo, why did you join up?â You were broken out of your thoughts to see Leonard messing around with a small rock in his hands.Â
âSomeoneâs gotta keep an eye on Jim, might as well be me.â
âThatâs it?â
âI donât really have a more noble or complicated reason. I didnât really have any other place I wanted to go. Plus I didnât want to stay in one place too long, I get too antsy. My parents did it, George joined up, Jim joined up, then I did. I get to strategize, protect, travel, and be with Jim at the same time.â
âSo it was just the right thing to do?â
âIn a sense. I mean, itâs always been me and Jim. I couldnât imagine not being able to see him for five years. Jim always kept me out of trouble, I kept him from flying too close to the sun.â
âSo youâve always been a pain in the ass?â You genuinely laughed at that.Â
âYeah, Iâve always been a little shit. But Iâve put that energy towards keeping people safe and annoying you. Now Iâve told my story, spill.â He sighed and adjusted himself a little against the ground.Â
âEh, not much to tell. Wife left, I was a doctor that needed to get away, and found myself at star fleet.â
âIâll never Jim calling me that day and telling me about you. He said you were some hypochondriac that nearly threw up on him in the plane.â
âAnd Jim told me you were his hot headed sister who couldnât keep your trap shut.â
âAnd look where we are now: trapped in the same cave.â You mused. âWanna play 20 questions?â
âWhat?â âI donât know how long weâre gonna be here, might as well pass the time. Iâll go first if you want.â He sighed and nodded his head in agreement. âAlright, what do you miss most about Georgia?â You leaned against the cave wall on the other side of him, crossing your arms across your chest.Â
âI know Iâll sound like an old southern gentleman but sitting on a front porch in a rocking chair.â You sniffed in laughter and he looked over at you with an annoyed look.
âHey, Iâm not judging. It does make you sound like an old man. Ask me a question.â He thought for a moment or two.
âWhat are you afraid of? There has to be something.â You groaned and covered your face. âCâmon!â
âNo, youâll laugh!â
âI wonât laugh, I promise. With what youâve seen and done, it has to be truly scary.â He reasoned and you shook your head. âThen what is it?â
âItâs...birds. Iâm afraid of birds.â There was silence between the two of you.Â
âAre we talking geese or-â âDoesnât matter. Iâm deathly afraid of all birds.â When he didnât say anything else, you looked up from your palm to see his body shaking with laughter. âHey! You said you wouldnât laugh!â
âWith everything weâve seen!â âAlright Hercules, other than space what are you most afraid of?â
âFlying.â
âMan you chose the wrong job.â
âCome over here, I can barely hear you.â You rolled your eyes but made your way over to the wall next to him, resuming you previous position. âWhat do you miss doing that you canât do on the Enterprise?â
âI miss cooking. I love to cook and it sucks that we only have replicators. Iâm a pretty good chef if I do say so. I make a mean skillet pot pie.â
âThat sounds dangerous. I do miss home cooking.â
For the next fourteen questions, you found out a lot about each other. You both enjoy reading in your spare time, both think Jim and Carol should suck it up and go out already, you had the same favorite old tv show, and generally had a lot in common with each other. You told stories about your youth like when you fell of the roof of your grandfatherâs barn, when you rescued a stray dog you found in some cornfield in Iowa, and how your father had raised you to become an old movie buff. He told you about med school and the time that he accidentally ate a hallucinogenic plant and was tripping for three days. It seemed like he could be just as reckless as you sometimes. He told stories of before you joined up and the adventures he and Jim were on, how many times he had pretty much saved Jim but didnât think he did anything special. You wouldâve hated to admit it before but you were enjoying getting to know him.
âAfter Starfleet, what do you want to do?â He asked. At this point, you were laying down next to him, sharing your robes as a pillow.Â
âI donât know.â
âDonât cop out now.â He chuffed and you shook your head.
âI really donât know, McCoy. This i pretty much all Iâve ever known. You can go to a hospital or clinic, I donât know where else to go. I donât want to be a civilian officer, donât want to be a body guard to some stuffy politician.â
âYou can settle down?â You snorted.Â
âYeah, me, settle down.â
âYou donât want to?â
âItâs not that I donât want to. Yeah, I want to be married and have kids one day but I just donât think itâll happen. I have a difficult job where I get hurt on a daily basis. Not a lot of people can handle that.â
âYouâll find somebody, Kirk. Youâre a catch.â You looked over at him with a smirk. âDonât tell anyone I told you that.â You laughed and propped yourself up on your elbows and looked at the open area at the corner of the cave.
âLast one, whatâs one thing you wish you had known more about before today?â
âYou.â He answered and you looked down at him. âI used to think you were the most annoying person on the ship. I was always too hard on you and didnât even try to talk to you without Jim there to keep us calm.â
âWhy did we both decide to hate each other?â You laid back down next to him. âSeems like if we werenât on that ship we would get along well.â You were silent for a little while. âPerhaps weâre both stubborn. I didnât like you because you didnât like me. From the first time I got hurt-â
âYouâre Jimâs sister. Jimâs my best friend. The first time you got hurt, I felt an even more overwhelming sense of duty. I had to take care of you even more so than my other patients. Not only are you his sister, you protect us with little regard to yourself. Youâre only afraid of birds, not death. I know this is all jumbled but...I think I was scared to get to know you because-â You noticed how his speech was becoming slightly slurred.
âThat sense of duty would be even stronger.â You were both silent again. âIâm sorry, Leonard.â
âIâm sorry too.â
âHow about when we get out of here we share a drink. Iâve got some damn good whiskey I think youâd enjoy.â
âSounds like a deal.â You shot up when you heard banging at the front of the cave and grabbed your phaser. You slowly made your way to the large piece of metal and heard some talking on the other side.Â
âRomulans.â You muttered and hurried back over to Leonard. You cursed when you saw that he had begun sweating again, his skin pale and clammy. âLeonard, listen to me. I have to move you behind the rocks alright?â He nodded as his head lulled to the side. You grasped underneath his arms and began to drag him, noting that the piece of metal was moving slowly in the sand. âDonât make a sound, alright? Iâll take care of them and weâll get back to the Enterprise.â You turned to go away and find some cover but her grabbed your hand.
âWait, Kirk.â You looked back down at him and he squeezed your hand. âDonât make me patch you up again.â You smiled softly.
âIâll do my best.â You hurried to a rock on the other side of the cave and waited for the Romulans to breach. It took them a little time but they finally moved the shrapnel enough to get through. You werenât well versed in linguistics so you couldnât make out what they were saying. They came over to the rock serving as heat and light and muttered amongst themselves. They knew someone was there. You could hear them growing closer and heard their phasers click off, presumably not to stun. You looked over at Leonard and saw his shaky breathing, you couldnât let them find him. As they got closer to you, you finally popped over the rock and shot one of them in the knee and the other in the shoulder, stunning them. You sighed and almost went over to Leonard before a shot rang out and grazed past you.
There was one more waiting outside the cave.Â
You hurried back behind your rock and thought about what to do. You could try to get some shots out but he had you cornered, heâd easily hit you first. If he got you, then he would get Leonard. He could also easily ambush Jim and Spock. You decided your best option was to wait and try to get the upper hand if he decided to move closer.Â
You listened for his footsteps, grating the sand underneath him. If you could disarm him then you would get your chance. He wouldnât wait for you to surrender, you didnât wait for them. He was calling out something to you and even with the language barrier you knew he was cursing you out. As soon as you heard him close enough, you leapt over the rock and tackled him. You rolled to the other side of the cave and you tried to smash his hand against the wall so he would drop his phaser. You felt him kick your shin, then kneeing your hip and you cried out. With one last hit, he dropped his phaser but before you could get your shot, he punched your jaw and flipped the two of you over. You tried to shoot again but the shot just went to the rocks above. He now held your wrists in a crushing grip, willing you to let go. You did the only thing you could do and kick for some sort of advantage. You went for his knees, his stomach, any place you could think. He was starting to get irritated, he was starting to get desperate. He let go of your unarmed hand to grab the knife in his belt and your eyes went wide. You had to act fast. You grabbed the only thing you could, a rock, and hit him in the side of the head. He finally let you go and you scurried away from him, training you phaser on him. You didnât realize how hard you had hit him and realized he wasnât going to move any time soon as blood came from his temple. You hurried back over to Leonard to see that his eyes were drooping.Â
âLeonard! Stay with me!â
âAre you hurt?â
âJust bruised, Iâm fine. Hang in there, alright? Weâll figure this out!â
âCommander!â You heard a familiar voice call.Â
âSpock!â You cried out. âHurry, we need to get Dr. McCoy out of here.â
âOn our way!â Jim yelled back. You looked back over at Leonard and held his hand.Â
âCâmon Leonard, weâre almost there.â

The events on Thurilia changed a lot of things. It was noticed immediately that you and Leonard werenât bickering as much. Nurse Chapel noticed that the vein in his head wasnât ready to pop at a moments notice anymore. It didnât seem as explosive. Of course, there was still an argument after he quickly recovered about her almost getting stabbed but it wasnât nearly as tense as the others.Â
However, that wasnât the only thing that got the crew talking.Â
Leonard was no longer in his uniform. Instead, he was in his civilian clothes that he usually wore once the day was done: a pair of sweats and an old t-shirt from his college days. He walked down the halls of the enterprise late in the night to get to your door, two glasses in his hands. He knocked and the door soon slid open to reveal you in your civilian clothes with a smile: a fleet sweatshirt and a pair of shorts. It was a little shocking for you to see each other out of uniform but it was oddly comforting. It had shown that the time in the cave had done a lot of good. You two visiting each other for a nightcap had become a regular occurrence.
âWhat movie did you pick?â He asked as he walked in.Â
âPrincess Bride. Itâs a movie from the 1980s.â His eyes widened, still shocked about your movie collection. âItâs got fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, escapes, true love, miracles!â
âSounds surprisingly sappy for you.â He chuckled as he poured the drinks. You sat down on your bed with the remote in hand and rolled your eyes.Â
âDid you not hear the first part of that? What with all the violence?â He offered you a glass and you gladly took it.Â
âYeah, yeah I heard you. It sounds great.â He sat down next to you against the headboard and you started the movie. It was a little off-putting how grainy it was but you insisted it added to the charm of the film. The movie continued and Leonard looked down to see the stars in your eyes as you watched. You were absolutely mesmerized by the story and kept telling him facts about the film. He noticed the tightness in his chest and coughed a little, hoping it was just the burn of the whiskey.Â
But it didnât go away.Â

Spock and Uhura watched with wide eyes as they rounded the corner to see Leonard smiling with two glasses in his hand as he walked into your room.Â
âSpock, tell me Iâm not hallucinating.â
âI believe, ashayam, we are witnessing what you humans call a miracle.âÂ
