Cruising right through my favorite week of October. Our MS Gulfcoast area sponsors Cruising the Coast. As of today we have 9300 plus classic cars in the area. A popular thing to do is take a lawn chair and find a space on the beachfront Highway 90 and watch the cars pass.
This year is flying by. I’m enjoying my new life, my times with grandchildren, making new friends and spending time with family.
I’m also dating a good natured man, that makes me laugh and makes time to take me out some, call me, and get to know me. I’m in no hurry. I want to thoroughly get to know someone and them know me. That just takes time and so time will tell.

Day 6 of a semaglutide shot
It’s a Thursday y’all!! The food noise is virtually gone!! I knew there was some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain. I started taking medication because constant thoughts of what I eat, or where or when…it sucked that is was totally consuming my brain. Everything from overeating, mindless eating, decreased motivation, obsessive thoughts about food, unhealthy eating habits, emotional eating.…

Age Is NOT a Barrier. Mindset is the Conqueror!
We are LED to believe that as we grow old we become weak and we lose our abilities we have had all our lives.
I look at this bucket of misinformation as the Beginning of the End. Why can't I do 50 push ups today when I was able to do them yesterday? Therein lies the KEY. If we do things everyday or at least 3 or 4 times a week. We should maintain the muscle, the balance, the ABILITY to do most anything we've done our entire life. It's when we "Buy in" to the world's take on these things that we fall prey to that slippery slope that sucks us into oblivion. We stay vital and robust until we SLOOOOWWW DOOOOWWNNN.
Simple when you think about it. Just like a fine machine that sits idle. We begin to RUST. We must work harder and exert more effort to do the things we did with little to no effort just weeks before. We start buying into AND using the excuses people make to justify not continuing to make the effort it takes. Not to remain the man we were just days/weeks before. We become lethargic and sloth like. Stay Active Brothers, don't sit on the bench...get in the GAME..STAY in the game.
Keep you body limber, conditioned and ready for a little action, no matter "where" that action takes place, you get where I'm going with that right??!!
Don't let the "Old Guy" within Control Your Future. Rock On Brothers! Love you All. stay Happy and Healthy!!!

How I found my happiness in this hellhole we call Tumblr
Don't let yourself become addicted; it can take over your life. Set limits.
Find a balance between your real life and this place is crucial
Use your queue to post pictures for you. Load it up and go :)
Using Tumblr as a dating site, can get very frustrating. Perhaps try an actual dating site maybe if you want to be happier.
Sexting can end badly if the women or man are seeking more than just sex. Mentally it's just not healthy unless you are both on the same page so make sure you are.
Don't be afraid to use your BLOCK feature
Turn off anonymous ASKS
Turn on only people you follow can message you
If you post pics of yourself, define your limits in your intro
If you are into BDSM realize that more than 80% if I had to guess are *not* in the lifestyle in real life and have never had a Dom or Sub in real life. Learning about it online IS safe. Taking it offline IS dangerous. Trust me, the lifestyle is *not* all 50 Shades of Grey. Please be careful.
Do not lead people on or be a player.
DO make good friends and enjoy your chats, I have some friends I've known for years & I cherish those friendships.
If someone DM's you, don't feel obligated to answer.
Don't try to fill a void that's missing in your life with someone on here. Try real life solutions to fixing it or find real activities to occupy your life that are more fulfilling then spending hours online.
Just my two cents from personal experience and for anyone that isn't enjoying the site anymore. I got caught up in this place to try and fulfill my unhappiness in real life ... I finally found my balance. I still enjoy Tumblr just differently now. I love finding pics for my blog that fit and I have some great friends on here, but I no longer live in here and guess what ... I'm wayyyyy happier & mentally healthier both here and in real life! :) It's hard to break the addiction of this place. I hope you find your balance too!
If you're happy with Tumblr then disregard LOL More power to you :)

Curse of Yes/No
Tumblr media
My name was Jace, I was 26 living in the suburbs of Sydney, it was getting close to the end of my year at uni and my girlfriend Sherry wanted me to go out and have some fun. She slid over a flyer for a local festival. A Halloween festival.
We don’t really celebrate Halloween in Australia. But as time has gone on it seems to be more and more present. Decorations being available to buy in stores, kids talking about trick or treating and festivals and street markets advertising Halloween themes.
My friends wanted me to go to one that was on tonight in town. It promised Fall themed food, spooky rides and classic Halloween fun. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go or not. Usually I let others decide for me. And it was hot as hell. Fall themed food wasn’t what I was looking for when it was 35 degrees c in the shade. But as I said I wasn’t big on making decisions.
So my best mate Ricky said he would pick me up at 8pm and we would go and have a look. Sherry was working late and said it would be good for me to get out and try to relax. Being a third year accounting student it didn’t come easy. She said go relax just don’t let Ricky get you drunk.
He picked me up at 8 as he said and I climbed in his car, “Jesus man, for a doctor you don’t exactly promote healthy lifestyle  do you?” Smoke was billowing out of he car “it’s my one vice, I know it’s not healthy but hey I’m addicted and I enjoy it” “is that your professional opinion?’ ‘Shut the fuck up and let’s go” we drove towards the fete.
Tumblr media
He picked me up at 8 as he said and I climbed in his car, “Jesus man, for a doctor you don’t exactly promote healthy lifestyle  do you?” Smoke was billowing out of he car “it’s my one vice, I know it’s not healthy but hey I’m addicted and I enjoy it” “is that your professional opinion?’ ‘Shut the fuck up and let’s go” we drove towards the fete.
As we walk into the festival it has this classic spooky horror theme of a gypsy caravan.. There are rides and haunted mansions to walk through but mostly it’s to theme. Ricky spots a fortune teller carriage at the end of a line. ‘Perfect” he says. ‘This is what you need. Go get your answers as you can never decide for yourself’. I um’d and ah’d if I should do it or not. Ricky just said ‘exactly” he put $50 in my hand and pushed me in the tent yelling”I’m going to hit on the hot carnie, have fun”
I tumbled inside and looked around seeing a man lounging in a chair having a drink. ‘I’m so sorry’ I said gathering myself.
‘My Friend was being pushy, literally and wanted me to have my fortune read, but I don’t know if I should or not. It’s not a very me thing to do, I mean it sounds like fun and all but, you’re here I don’t see an old crone and a crystal ball anywhere. Haha ‘
Tumblr media
Old crone and crystal ball. Well that’s not a very nice stereotype!’ The man said. ‘ but I wouldn’t expect a ginger accountant named Jace to come for a reading in Australian either, so I guess we are even.’
‘How do you know my name? ‘ I said in shock and backing towards the door.
‘We are not all old crones or female, that was just to show you I’m the real deal. Com now sit. Ricky has paid for your thirty minutes, let’s not waste this.’ He says as he walks behind me and guides me to a chair across from him. ‘Hold out your hand, palm up’ I do so in shock and almost trance, I’ve never been a big believer but I always believe  in what I experienced.
He looks at my palm only briefly and starts to speak. ‘ you are not on the right path’. I snap out of it. ‘Really ?” ‘I thought accounting was the right fit.’
‘Nothing is right’ accounting, your clothes, Sherry. All wrong, because all were not your choice. You simply let others decide for you, so now you are on the wrong path. Ricky. Ricky is the one right thing in your life. He will be the one to correct it. Trust in Ricky. Ironically it will take someone else to tell you what to do to make you get on the right path and choose your destiny’
As I snatch my hand away I get upset ‘what do you mean, all is wrong with me. Who says that to a person. And I love Sherry, I’m going to marry her,…. I think’ ‘I don’t know who you are or how you know these things but it’s wrong.’
As I go to storm to the exit I feel like I’m in a tumble dryer the world spins on its axis. I look back and the Gypsy  is muttering and then spits at me. ‘ I give you a Curse! Not to hurt but help’ as I steady myself he walks towards me. ‘Use this to your advantage, not all curse’s can be detrimental. Until the clock strikes 12. Any question that is asked of a Yes. Or. A No. the opposite will be a reality. It has the power to rearrange you future your past. So be wise young Jace. And remember my words Ricky is the one to put you on a try path. Go now
I stumbled out of the carriage dazed wondering what had just happened. I looked at my watch. It was 9:15 pm. Sherry would be here soon and we can go home. I wasn’t looking and a bumped into a guy. “ watch where you’re going mate!” He yelled. “ hey do you smoke? Can I bum one?”
As I went  to say no it was as if time slowed down and rewound very quickly to the day in the 8th grade when Tommy Doyle asked me to meet him behind the sheds at school to try smoking, he stole a pack from his dad. I had said no, but in this flash I has said yes. I joined Tommy, I had memory flood through my brain of school and uni and clubs always smoking, my friends were a little bit different to,, Ricky was there of course but they all didn’t seem so straight laced, my clothes seemed to feel looser, darker a little more edgier, I felt slightly more confident and strangely fitter, felt my arm tingle as a tattoo appeared as the spin came back to reality.
‘Yeah sure man”  I think passed him the packet and lit the lighter from my pocket, “ sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going”
‘No problem” as the guy walked away I looked back and the gypsy was standing in the door way, laughing.
Tumblr media
Something didn’t seem right, I turned to to go taking an another deep inhale on my smoke. I needed to find Ricky and get home to Sherry.
This is the first of a few chapters, let me know if I should continue.

The 12 easiest ways to lose weight
Many people develop an increase in body weight in middle age, and it occurs gradually, somewhat imperceptible. Of course, some resort to strict diet or exercise, but some attempts fail due to the nature of the busy lifestyle, family and social commitments, and working hours.
Two new studies offer a glimmer of hope in the form of small changes approaches to weight loss and improved health, with firm promise of promising scientifically grounded results.
In her research study, Professor Amanda Daly, a professor of behavioral medicine at Loughborough University, and her research team analyzed data from 19 trials involving more than 3,000 people to see if a simple microapproach yields enough changes to help maintain a healthy weight or lose excess weight. The results showed that participants who adhered to the approach of small changes – such as walking 1,000 extra steps a day or cutting 100-200 calories by choosing healthier alternatives to highly processed, sugary and high-calorie-rich foods lost about 1 kg less compared to those who did not follow these methods over eight to 14 months. While the amount doesn't seem great, Professor Daly says it was enough to stave off weight gain.
Small goals that are easy to achieve
Professor Daly said: "Adult weight gain is not usually the result of a short lack of exercise and excessive intake, but rather rather the result of a gradual decrease in activity levels and increased energy intake, the effects of which are cumulative and affect over time.
Professor Daly adds that providing guidelines that ask people to make big changes to their health, such as cutting calories by 500 or more a day or taking 10,000 steps from the starting point from scratch, requires a lot and may be better to "make them realize that it's only good to make one small change the first time and gain confidence in achieving it," noting that "big changes, by their very nature, make it difficult for some to achieve."
Small changes in food
In the second scientific study, published in the journal Nature Food, researchers from the University of Michigan reported how small changes in food choices can also help get extra minutes of healthy living. By classifying 5,800 foods according to their "dietary burden of disease," the researchers found, for example, that a small dietary shift such as eating 30 grams of nuts and seeds a day provides a 25-minute gain from healthy living — as expected from During an increase in disease-free life expectancy. "The message from researchers now is that doing small things, being physically active, eating a little better, and turning ideas into an initial change approach can make a difference to human health, and it's also a stimulus that can drive thinking about bigger changes in the long term," says Daly.
Simple methods of motor activity
1- Strengthen the gluteal muscles while sitting
A 2019 study from Wichita State University, published in the journal Peer J, showed that pressing the gluteal muscles in the buttocks while sitting in a chair can enhance strength and endurance, and possibly reduce the risk of injury. Study participants were asked to sit up straight in a chair — hips and knees at right angles, knees shoulder-width and feet apart — and squeeze the glutes as hard as possible for five seconds before relaxing and repeating. The exercise does not require any weights Or training tools. After eight weeks of doing this for an accumulated 15 minutes per day, one doesn't even need to do them all at once, lab test results showed that it increased gluteal muscle strength by 16% compared to an 11% increase in the control group that was asked to do the same amount of conventional gluteal bridge exercises.
2- Jump 10 times twice a day
The slightest amount of exercise can make a difference when it comes to maintaining bone strength throughout life, balancing the risk of osteoporosis. For an experiment, published in the American Journal of Health Promotion, 60 premenopausal women aged 25 to 50 were asked to perform 10 or 20 jumps with 30 seconds of rest between jumps, twice a day for 16 weeks, to see how they affected their bones. The results showed that daily jumping led to a 0.5 percent increase in bone density, while the control group that did not jump showed a 1.3 percent reduction in bone density during the four-month trial.
3- Reduce 10% of red and processed meat
In a study conducted by the University of Michigan, calculations by researchers revealed that for every gram of processed meat a person consumes, 0.45 minutes of their lifespan are lost. If a person eats a lot of red or processed meat, the researchers' advice is to replace 10% with a combination of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes, which can add 48 minutes of healthier life.
4- Climb 4 groups of stairs in less than a minute
Last year, researchers at the European Society of Cardiology conference reported that being able to climb four steps of stairs, equivalent to 60 steps, in less than a minute is a strong predictor of good heart health. Study author Jesús Petero, a cardiologist at the University Hospital of a Spanish Coruña, says: "If it takes you more than a minute and a half to climb four steps on the stairs, your health is suboptimal, and it would be good to consult a doctor."
5- Jumping rope for 10 minutes a day
Daily jumping for ten minutes over 6 weeks has been shown to lead to improvements in cardiovascular health, equivalent to what is benefited by running for 30 minutes a day, in addition to strengthening bones.
6- Spend 60 minutes outdoors
Getting out of the house for an hour a day is, in short, the exact translation for better health, according to the results of a study to be published in the December issue of the journal Affective Disorders.  Sean Cain, an assistant professor of psychology at Monash University in Australia, studied the effects of daylight exposure on the mood and health of more than 400,000 participants at Biobank in the UK. He discovered that adults in the UK, on average, spend about 2.5 hours of daylight outside, and that each hour of daylight exposure is associated with easier morning wakefulness and reduced overall fatigue. Kane says:  "Getting bright light in the day is just as important as avoiding light at night to sleep."
7- 1000 additional steps per day
Instead of targeting 10,000 steps or more, start by recording an additional 1,000 steps per day. Henrietta Graham, a researcher in sports and exercise science at Loughborough University and colleagues, and the lead researcher on the latest scientific study, says. "People who do a low step count per day and who try to accomplish 10,000 steps per day from day one are more likely to give up." Even this added step, just 1,000, will pay off. In May, researchers from the University of North Carolina conducted a study on the walking habits of 16,732 women age 60 or older. Presenting their findings at the American Heart Association's Conference on Epidemiology, Prevention, Lifestyle, Heart Health and Cardiac Metabolism, they showed that, compared to women who did not take daily steps, each initial increase of 1,000 steps per day was associated with a 28 percent lower risk of dying during the eight-year follow-up period, and women who took more than 2,000 steps a day in continuous shifts had a 32 percent lower risk of death. You can walk for two minutes every hour of the workday, about 20 minutes a day, a goal that a team from the University of Utah School of Medicine showed was associated with a 33% lower risk of death.
8- Jog for 5 minutes
Prof Dali says you can start by setting small goals before aspiring to run marathons "over distances of about 10km or more". Small, consistent but moderate exercise patterns can make all the difference. One study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, involving 55,137 adults showed that running at a manageable pace for just five minutes a day was associated with an increased lifespan of an adult by about three years.
9- Commit to 20-second training doses
If you really can't find the time (or motivation) to exercise, the practice of taking light infusions is something to think about. Martin Gibala, professor of kinesiology at McMaster University in Canada and principal investigator of a study on light training doses, found that just 20 seconds of strenuous exertion, like climbing 60 steps three times a day, resulted in a 5 percent increase in fitness and an improvement in leg muscle strength after six weeks. Graham says that just as much activity will help: "You can walk or run around, anything that makes you breathe hard will be helpful. Any amount of activity is better than nothing."
10- Practice yoga for 15 minutes daily
If one can't commit to a 90-minute yoga class, start with 15 minutes of simple exercise, and you'll get major benefits. A study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, reported how yoga and deep breathing for a quarter of an hour reduced blood pressure by 10 percent as well as a heart rate reduction for at least 24 hours in a group of 78 patients with mild hypertension.
11- Stand on one leg for 20 seconds daily
By the time a person reaches the age of twenties, there are about 70,000 specialized neurons, motor neurons, concentrated in the lower part of the spinal cord, which connects with the leg muscles to control balance. But researchers at Manchester Metropolitan University have shown that by the age of 75, 40 per cent of these motor neurons are lost even in the fittest individuals. The result is a deterioration in coordination of movement and balance. While young people can stand on one leg, with their eyes closed, for 30 seconds, the average age of 70 can only hold up for four to five seconds. But the time period can be improved with practice. The goal should initially be to stand on one leg for 20 seconds daily, then it develops gradually and the exercise is repeated with the eyes closed. "You can stand on one leg while brushing your teeth or waiting for the water to boil [to make tea or coffee," says Graham.
12- Lifting weights for 13 minutes
Not everyone needs or can head to the gym just to train to lift weights in low doses for short periods. Indeed, exercise physiologists at Lehman College in New York have figured out the possibility of not going to gym training and achieving good results, asking participants in a scientific study to perform 8 to 12 repetitions of exercise with weights in three weekly sessions, and lifting them until their muscles are too tired to do anything else. While the researchers asked some to perform five sets of each in a 70-minute gym session, they assigned other participants to do just three sets of 40 minutes and do one set of each exercise, and the gym group spent only about 13 minutes doing weightlifting. Two months later, the researchers revealed that strength gains were similar across all groups and that those who did the fast-paced exercise for 13 minutes in the gym had similar results to those who exercised at home for longer periods of time and training sessions.......read more

How To Give (and Receive) Respect In Romantic Relationships
Boundaries, empathy, and mutual respect are essential in any healthy relationship. These fundamentals you're in a long-term committed relationship, cohabitating with a partner, engaged, married, or some form of steady casual or nonmonogamous relationship. Here are some tips and general advice on how to provide respect to your partner without sacrificing your own needs.
Communicate Your Boundaries & Expectations: Let your partner know your non-negotiables, trigger, and expectations in every aspect of life (e.g. communication throughout the day/at work, date night frequency/activities, any triggering/unsafe people or parts of your past/family you don't want to discuss, etc.). Encourage your partner to share their boundaries/expectations, too. Sharing these vital details allows you to communicate your needs, avoid unnecessary arguments, and lead to generally more fulfilling interactions that don't breed resentment over time.
Maintain Your Sense of Self: Respecting yourself is essential to fully respect others. A healthy relationship is 100% +100% = 300%, not 50/50. Codependency is a significant sign of disrespect because it makes someone (unhealthfully) responsible for your happiness and fulfillment. While you want to share many activities (even a home and many other possessions/experiences) together, having interests, hobbies, friends, your own career, etc. that are just for you allows you to draw fulfillment from within and add value to your romantic connection/ enrich your partner's understanding of different activities/tastes/cultures/ways of life. Sacrificing your personhood to please another person will eventually breed resentment and cause you to cross their boundaries – clear signs of disrespect.
Be Upfront About Your Priorities, Values, & Goals: Combining the former two points, the most respectful thing you can do for your partner is to be as upfront as possible about what you're looking for in a partner and where you see the relationship going (in stages, of course, depending on how serious the relationship is). Always be upfront about the values that matter the most to you (i.e. any political/religious dealbreakers, lifestyle habits, career/life balance, cohabitating, socializing expectations, children, etc.). Being honest about your needs in these areas is essential, so they know what you're looking for and don't find out through passive-aggressive "hints" throughout the relationship that can cause tension, unfair punishment/manipulative behavior, or waste someone's time.
Take An Interest In Your Partner's Career: Display the same level of interest and thoughtfulness you expect them to have with you when you share details about your work and career. It's not cute to be clueless about what your partner spends most of their waking hours doing and where their passions lie. Ask them questions about the field they're working in, if they're excited about any projects they're working on, future goals, cool networking opportunities, etc.
Encourage Your Partner To Have Their Own Interests, Hobbies, and Friend Group: A strong, healthy bond can only remain intact when two whole, well-rounded people come together in a relationship. Encourage your partner to have their own identity outside, not to the exclusion of, your relationship. Have hobbies, their own group of friends/hangouts, and activities they do together. No one's full range of needs can (or should) depend on one person. This level of emotional labor is too taxing for someone else to take on and drains the other person until they become a shell of themselves. These over-the-top expectations erode someone's energy to focus on their personal goals and needs – definitely a sign of disrespect.
Establish A Financial Arrangement & Stick To It: Every relationship is different. There's no such thing as a magic formula for an "equal" or "fair" financial arrangement. However, it is important to mutually establish your financial expectations for the relationship fairly quickly. Otherwise, you could be seen as taking advantage of someone else without your knowledge, thereby, crossing their boundaries, or you can become (subconsciously or consciously) resentful when a partner comes across as "stingy" because you never communicated your expectations (especially if your love language is gift-giving or acts of service).
Plan Thoughtful Dates & Gestures: Making your partner feel special and desired is essential in a relationship. The level of extravagance, planning, or romance depends on your individual preferences and type of relationship/level of commitment to the other person. However, it is essential to plan something special for your partner (that's thoughtful, incredibly sexy, or both) on occasion to show that you view them as more than a friend. It signals a sign of respect for the value this person adds to your life and your gratitude for their sharing this type of bond with you.
Be Empathetically Strategic With Their Friends & Family: Always kill them with kindness without being a doormat. Stick up for yourself if disrespected. But, especially with family, it is important to be cordial with your partner's outside relationship and try your best to not put them in a position to pick sides. You wouldn't want to cause unnecessary tension and stress for attention or entitled treatment from someone you respect.
Hope this helps xx

H.R.H. Prince Daniel's opening speech at the European Renal Association's congress
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great honour for me to welcome you to Sweden, to Stockholm, and to the 61st ERA Congress.
From the early days of dialysis to the groundbreaking innovations in transplantation, you have continuously pushed the boundaries of what is possible.
However, as we celebrate your achievements, we must also recognise the ongoing challenges we face. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) continues to rise globally, affecting millions of people and adding to the enormous burden on healthcare systems.
In developing countries, the situation is particularly critical, with many patients lacking access to life-saving treatments. This inequity underscores the urgent need for continued efforts in research, education, and policy advocacy.
The theme of this year's congress, "Innovate, Collaborate, Transform", reflects a collective mission to not only advance scientific knowledge, but also to implement practical solutions that improve patient outcomes.
Over the next few days, we will hear from leading experts who will share the latest research findings, clinical practices, and technological innovations.
A key focus area this year is the role of personalised medicine in kidney care. By tailoring treatments to the individual needs of patients, we can increase the efficacy and reduce side effects, ultimately leading to better outcomes.
This approach, combined with progress in AI and data analytics, holds the promise of revolutionising how we diagnose, treat, and manage kidney diseases.
We must also address the environmental factors impacting kidney health.
Climate change, pollution, and water scarcity are emerging as significant contributors to the global burden of kidney disease. And of course, a healthy lifestyle is crucial!
Ladies and gentlemen,
This year marks 60 years since the first kidney transplantation took place in Sweden, at a hospital called Serafimerlasarettet here in Stockholm. The surgery was performed by Professor Curt Franksson, who grew up in a small municipality two hours north of Stockholm, Ockelbo.
And so did I, but 50 years later.
Our shared history, Professor Franksson’s and mine, does not end there.
Forty-five years after Franksson's first transplantation at Serafimerlasarettet, I found myself at the same hospital, on dialysis, waiting for a kidney transplant.
Today, 15 years later, I am standing here, healthy, and happy with my father's kidney.
The gratitude I feel towards those of you who dedicate your lives to improving opportunities for us patients is indescribable.
Thank you.
Speech held by H.R.H. Prince Daniel at Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö, Stockholm, on May 23, 2024.

Cell Phone Addiction | Mental Health - Wings WIthin
Mobile addiction is a growing concern. It is easy to get addicted to mobile phones but hard to overcome it. Numerous people around the world are addicted to their mobile phones. The behavior pattern of mobile addicts is more or less the same.
The cell phone is one of the most significant discoveries of the 20th century. According to recent statistics, over 50 crore Indians are using cell phones. While it is true that the advancement of technology has led to many conveniences in our world, it has also brought many other critical issues to us.
Addiction is a chronic disease and is one of the most intractable health disorders faced around the world. Cell phone addiction is a thriving concern. It is very easy to get addicted to cell phones but difficult to subdue them. A lot of people globally are addicted to their mobile phones.
NewGen social isolation:
A majority of youths of this generation have become socially isolated because they avoid connecting with people. Thanks to the technology that has turned a vast majority of human beings into impudent fellows. Today, due to cell phone addiction youth tend not to care about their neighbors rather they are more concerned about their online friends across the miles. The internet is a network of online connected servers, desktop computers, laptops and cell phones and societies have no choice than being a part of this network. We keep chasing success when every step of our journey is a success in itself.
The need of the hour is to guide the kids, students and teens from childhood itself about the disadvantages of the internet. People only post the positive side of their lives including travel, job promotion, lavish dinners with friends, although we are aware that what we see on social media is not completely true. Still it affects us because we end up comparing ourselves with online friends’ standard of living. Either we try to make quick, temporary changes in our lifestyle to feel better or we make an effort to appear better on social media to keep up with our peers. The negative use of the internet in the society is only possible when people don’t know how to use, when to use, what to communicate and what shouldn’t be. People are so deeply involved in the web of the internet that they have no time to spend with their family, friends and relatives which is resulting in losing the social connect leading to them to isolation.
This condition of being alone increases the risk of mental health problems, negatively impacts the development of the brain’s structure, mental health issues such as depression, dementia, social anxiety and low self-esteem. In severe cases, feeling of helplessness, hopelessness and worthlessness are exact rebated by our isolation and suicidal tendencies increases. To overcome isolation we need to change our habits and behavior. One can try and engage with family and friends, join a group, talk about it with a therapist. After all, all we need is a healthy social network.
Cell phone addiction, What causes it?
The causes of cell phone addiction are numerous. Cell phones are eating the brains of the younger generation through addiction. The main reasons of cell phone addictions are as follows:
Availability of internet: Internet makes things simpler nowadays and will help us to find anything and everything. The Internet is the major factor which provokes people to use cell phones or smartphones more and more.
Functionalities: Cell Phones provide a wide variety of functions or features to its users. Most of the people check their phone for messages and calls if there is no vibration or ring which is in turn termed as addiction.
Gaming: Video games available on the cell phones or smartphones compel the users to use them more. In the modern cell phone/ smartphone market, gaming is shown as an important feature of the phone which has the capability of poisoning the users.
Signs and symptoms that clearly show that a person is addicted to his/ her mobile phone.
You display ritualistic behaviors around your phone. Examples of this may be checking your phone throughout the night when you wake up. Taking your phone to bed until you fall asleep. Checking your phone first thing in the morning as soon as you open your eyes and frequently being caught up in activities on your phone that you struggle to stop.
Spends more time connecting online than connecting with people in real life.
Neglect or trouble completing duties at work, school, or home.
Sleeps with the smartphone on or under the pillow.
Checking peoples’ profiles repeatedly due to anxiety.
Accidents or injury due to phone use while driving.
Appears anxious when the phone battery is low.
Has his or her mobile phone on the table during meals.
Angry or irritated if phone use is interrupted.
Disturbed sleep because of getting up at night to check phone.
Reaching for the phone the moment they are alone or bored.
Phantom vibrations (thinking the phone buzzes when it doesn’t).
Craving access to a smartphone or another device.
FOMO- Fear of missing out.
Loss of control over the behavior.
Panics if cell phone is misplaced or service is unavailable.
The thought of losing your smartphone genuinely terrifies you.
You obsessively check your phone even when there are no notification noises
Others have expressed resentment or upset at the amount you use your phone
You neglect your family and friends and struggle to stay present in favor of using your phone.
Withdrawal, feeling irritated and anxious when the behavior isn’t practiced.
Relapse, picking up the habit again after periods of avoidance.
Mental Health Issues of cell phone addiction.
Undoubtedly, smartphones have become integrated into our everyday lives. When you’re glued to your phone, you miss out on quality time with friends or family and exciting experiences. There are other negative effects of excessive cell phone usage, including the following:
-Insomnia
-Poor school/college performances
-Poor work performance
-Loss of interest in activities
-Reduced attention and productivity
-Depression
-Contributes to relationship stress
-Anxiety
How do you break a cell phone addiction:
Mobile phones have been created for our convenience. We must limit their usage to take charge of our lives. If you feel you are getting addicted to your mobile phone then look for ways to get rid of it. When you set healthy boundaries between yourself and your cell phone, you’re more likely to avoid smartphone addiction.
To break cell phone addiction take a ‘Screen Fast’ by:-
Keeping yourself on a schedule.
Turn off as many push notifications as possible.
Take distracting apps off your home screen.
Kick your device out of bed.
If you have a smart speaker, put it to use.
Try turning on your phone's grayscale.
Stay accountable.
Set rules around your daily smartphone use.
Make your smartphone less appealing.
Practice phone etiquette
Keep phones off the table.
Designate “no cell” zones in your home
Conclusion:
Mobile addiction is more serious than what we think. People addicted to mobile phones show all or some of the above mentioned symptoms. It is important to take these signs seriously.  Mobile addiction can ruin our life if it is not stopped on time. Getting rid of this habit may be difficult but it is not impossible. As much as we neglect it, mobile addiction has become a big problem today. It is hampering our professional life and ruining our personal relationships. Mobile phones are causing more harm than good.
People experiencing the problem of mobile addiction must make an effort to get rid of it and return to the real world. To overcome mobile addiction we need to change our habits and behavior. We must help our loved ones going through this problem. We can help them by talking to them about this problem without being judgmental. Express empathy and be open to their negative reactions. It is difficult to cope up with this problem, but the support from family and friends can be really helpful in overcoming mobile addiction. If this does not help, you should not hesitate to seek professional help. Talk about it with a therapist. After all, all we need is a healthy social network. Tumblr media
I have decided to make some changes around my blog!
First, my new username is losing-alittlextra changed from running-alittle-faster. It calls back to my old username if you were here long enough for alittlextra-guacamole. I am moving into a new era of my self-discovery. I’ve been exercising regularly for over a year and a half now. I am going to focus now on weight loss which I don’t really talk about a lot on this blog, but it is now my main focus.
I plan on doing a weight update every Saturday to check in. I’ll be watching my exercise, food and rest. I have consistent exercise down. What I need to work on is rest and diet or the more passive things. I will still post throughout the week, but Saturdays will be my check in days. Here’s the first!
My therapist is big on rituals. So this change symbolizes the change I'm making in my lifestyle to finally commit and lose weight.
CW: 176.2
I went for a run today. The weather was perfect.
I sometimes feel frustrated that I am not running fast enough, but then I refocus and remind myself that I am blessed to run with good health. My knees don’t hurt, my shins are fine, my lungs are great and my heart is pumping.
My diet today has been on point. I had cereal and bacon for breakfast. Slept through lunch then had lasagna, and some fruit for dinner. I need to approach this with the right mindset. Of course I’m not going to eat healthy everyday. There will be days I have cravings or over eat. And I need to anticipate those days as much as my successful ones. I can be so excited to start a diet but the minute I diverge, I lose hope. So I need to allow for those mishaps before they happen and accept when they do because I am only human.
My mom got McDonald’s for dinner for herself. She got 2 big macs in case I wanted one and I declined. Feeling pretty good about day 1 of weight loss.
I have a 5k coming up in September that I am also looking forward to. My conversation pace has me at 3.5 miles in 50 minutes. I would like to bring that down. I remind myself I have about 50 extra pounds on me. And it would be like wearing a weighted vest. So I can’t be too hard on myself. Just remind myself that I’m healthy and able.
My hope is to lose 1 pound a week. So next week I hope to see my weight at 175.2 or below. Here goes nothing!

Overview
The fundamental concern as we look to reform health in America is the known reality that most chronic diseases that afflict Americans are predominantly lifestyle induced; and the belief is that the vast majority of heart attacks and strokes could be prevented if people were willing to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors. In addition, healthy lifestyles would impact a significant number of cancers which are also believed to be related to lifestyle exposures, especially to obesity, cigarettes, and other toxins.
Over the past 50 years, the health of Americans has gotten worse, and now 71% of Americans are overweight or obese—not 66%, which was reported 5 years ago.1 That means a staggering 100 million people in America are obese. Today, eating processed foods and fast foods may kill more people prematurely than cigarette smoking.2
Authorities determined the 71% figure by classifying people with a body mass index (BMI) over 25 kg/m2 as overweight or obese. Yet in long-lived societies such as in the “Blue Zones” (Ikaria, Greece; Sardinia, Italy; Okinawa, Japan; the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica; and Loma, Linda California) and wherever we find groups of centenarians, we observe a healthy BMI below 23 kg/m2, not 25 kg/m2. If we use above 23 kg/m2 as the demarcation for overweight or obesity, then we find that 88% of Americans are overweight. And out of the approximately 10% that are of normal weight, the majority of those so-called “normal weight individuals” are either cigarette smokers, or suffer from alcoholism, drug addiction or dependency, autoimmune disease, occult cancers, inflammatory disorders, autoimmune conditions, digestive disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and other illnesses that lower their body weight. Therefore, perhaps that only about 5% of the American population is at a normal weight as a result of eating healthy and living a healthy life. A recent study documented that only 2.7% of Americans adopt a relatively healthy lifestyle by combining exercise with healthy eating.3 The Standard American Diet (SAD) is clearly not a healthy diet.
I use the term “Fast Food Genocide” because most don’t understand the depth and breadth of the harm as a large segment of our society eats a diet worse than the dangerous SAD. Many people recognize that junk food, fast food, processed food, white flour, sugar, maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, and all the junk people are eating contribute to in obesity, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, dementia and cancer, but many don’t realize the strong causative role an unhealthy diet may have in mental illness. Currently, 1 in 5 Americans suffers from a psychiatric disorder. And many people don’t realize the harm that processed foods have on Americans living in urban areas where they don’t have easy access to whole, fresh foods.
These unfortunate folks live in what we call “food deserts,” with reduced availability to fresh fruits and vegetables. Because of the limited access to supermarkets, they eat more unhealthy fast and processed foods and end up having 7 times the risk of early-life stroke (before age 45), putting people in nursing homes in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.4-7
The vulnerable poor in these areas also have double the risk of heart attack, double the risk of diabetes, and 4 times the risk of renal failure8-10; Unfortunately, the decrease in life span due to food inequality is shocking but rarely discussed. A substantial proportion of people in these urban environments are overweight, prediabetic, or fully diabetic. Researchers determined that compared with other areas in America with easy access to supermarket food, that the YPLL (Years of Potential Life Lost) for an overweight diabetic living in a zone classified as a food desert was a shocking 45 years!11,12
A link may even exist between fast food, processed food, commercial baked goods, and sweets and destruction of brain cell and a lowering of intelligence. Candy and sweetened baked goods may even stimulate the brain in an addictive fashion, which can lead to more serious illnesses.
The nutritional fundamentals accepted by the World Health Organization and most nutritional authorities today include vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, and fruit as healthy foods; and salt, saturated fat, and excess sugar as disease causing. Excessive amounts of animal products may lead to premature aging, increased risk of chronic disease and higher all-cause mortality. Multiple studies have been published on hundreds of thousands of people, followed for decades showing that the objective endpoint of death is increased with higher amounts of animal product consumption.13-17 Furthermore, refined carbohydrates may not just lead to being overweight and diabetic but also contribute to dementia, mental illness, and cancer.18-21 There is considerable evidence today that heart disease is not only promoted by saturated fat and increased animal products but also by refined carbohydrates, including white rice, white bread, sugar, honey, maple syrup, and agave nectar.22-25
Research has shown that excess calories shorten lifespan, whereas moderate caloric restriction slows the aging process and protects the body and brain. Americans consume more calories than any other population; and they consume foods, many of which have minimal or no nutritional value (soda and alcohol as examples). So let’s consider the individual who is consuming 50 excess calories per day. What will be the short- and long-term result? Fifty excess calories per day, over and above your basic metabolic needs, over a 10-year period, adds about 50 pounds of extra body weight. The excess weight increases the risk of multiple chronic illnesses, cancers, and also takes many years of life away from the individual simply as a result of consuming only 50 calories a day too many.
Conversely, if an individual consumed 50 calories a day less that their metabolic requirements what would happen then? Would he or she become too thin, anorexic, and unhealthy? Would their bones fall apart? Obviously not! When you moderately caloric-restrict, even a small amount such as 50 to 100 calories a day, weight remains about the same, the person is slim, not too thin, and healthy. He or she will have a lower body fat percentage, and the skeletal mass, bones, and muscle mass are strong. In this scenario, the metabolic rate would slow down accordingly. The respiratory quotient, (the number of calories lost through respiration) would decrease, the body temperature would lower, and thyroid function would decrease slightly, all lowering the metabolic rate, which overall may result in a slowing of the aging process. The secret to a long life and freedom from chronic disease may be simply to moderately reduce calories in order to slow down our metabolic rate. The only behavior proven scientifically to dramatically increase life span in every species of animals, including primates, is to lower caloric intake while maintaining an environment of micronutrient adequacy, assuring that we have exposure to every micronutrient humans need. The American diet is also deficient in antioxidants and phytochemicals that are needed for normal immune function, for maximizing brain health, protecting against dementia, chronic illness, cancer, and premature aging.

Healthy living is a noble pursuit, and one we should be pursuing. Especially as Christians, as we understand that we ought to be good stewards and caretakers of what God has given us — which includes our bodies and the earth.
The problem with a certain brand of Instagram Crunchy Folk is that they forget a couple things
Hyper focusing on any one aspect of a healthy lifestyle will actually create an obsessive and unhealthy lifestyle. Hyper focus on diet or zero waste or fitness or whatever creates, well *vague gestures at Instagram wellness pages*
Risk assessment is allowed! You can know the risks of doing something and decide the risk may be worth it. We do this with everything in life: health is no exception. If you’re well informed about the American diet and consumption, generally try to eat healthy, but decide take out from Taco Bell on a Friday with a friend is an okay exception to your diet then that’s okay! !! My focus is more informed decision making rather than actually controlling the decision making of others. You can eat the cleanest diet in the world, but sometimes you just need that comfort food.
We can only do what we can with the information and resources available to us. This includes money, time, local market, and land available to us. Most people don’t have the money to over haul their kitchen and cleaning products over night. Most people can’t only buy Crunchi make up at $50 a bottle. Most people don’t have land or time to grow all their own food, and most grocery stores don’t carry the healthiest food. We can only do what we can with what we have. Thats the simple fact of life.
“Natural living” does not exclude nature or sacrifice supplementary support when needed. A lot of “natural living” folks idea of nature is taking a brisk walk in your suburban park. If you tell them to go camping or work with livestock they become disgusted because “toxins.” That’s not healthy. Part of living natural means actually being with nature. And nature can heal most of our societal, physical, and mental ailments. So this matters. HOWEVER, on the flip side, we live in a fallen, broken world. Sometimes things happen that we can’t control, no matter how healthy we eat or how sustainable we try to live. The response to the abuses of modern medicine isn’t to ditch modern medicine altogether: it’s to inform ourselves and use it only as we need it. And sometimes we do need it. And it is a gift from God what we can heal now.
Complete self sufficiency is not the goal. That’s a little jarring to conservative ears. But the individual is not the basis for society — the family is. Community is. The church is. We were made for fellowship. We need each other. It’s good to learn skills and employ them — to serve both yourself and your neighbor. No one person can do absolutely everything alone. So don’t expect to. If goal is complete self sufficiency, you’re always going to be overwhelmed at how short you fall, if you’re being honest with yourself. Try to learn some useful skills that you take well to and build a community of likeminded folk.
We should encourage people to live and pursue a healthier lifestyle. It matters. Don’t let the crazies make you disregard truth (uhhhh most modern food really is toxic, guys) but don’t let it overwhelm you or think you have to be perfect. Health is not a competition. It’s a mindset and a continual pursuit. Make the better decisions when you can. Make do when you can’t. And don’t let this conversation cause either Fear nor Apathy in you (which seems to be the two ends of the spectrum).

Rosé
CW for under the cut: body horror and suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide (multiple), violence, verbal abuse, abusive relationship, manipulation and abandonment
Rosé, formerly known as Roe was born around 1899 and grew up in Louisiana. He grew up as more or less of a spectacle, considering both his effeminate appearance and albinism. He had always been fond of attention and just show business in general, so he didn’t entirely mind this lifestyle even if it was thrusted onto him at an early age.
As a young adult living in the roaring 20’s he tried to make a name for himself as a model and really played into his unique attributes, leading him to feature in several popular newspapers, magazines, and other things like that. While he was attractive, he was still considered more of an oddity than a person and was often dehumanized (revered and belittled) because of this. He felt like he couldn’t really make any real relationships with people because he was seen as more of a concept or character than someone with actual feelings and aspirations.
Adonis (“Don”), is the god of beauty, vanity, and lust. for some background about how gods function in this world, they’re kind of like the greek gods where they have dominion over certain concepts but don’t manually control them unless they really feel like it. like it’s sort of subconscious to them. like breathing. a concept cannot exist without a god, so there’s a lot of them. also gods can have multiple titles and take over the titles of another god if the god is stripped of their power. The god of death/the end (who i’ll likely be renaming to lih’ka or lih’kat) is typically in charge of judgement of the gods. there are very few rules but the main ones are just don’t interact with mortals because it can’t end well and don’t show bias towards a particular mortal. also gods can incarnate and live among mortals as one of them but they will never live up to their concept because it won’t exist for them while they’re a mortal. like for example when incarnated, Evolen, the goddess of love and (healthy) relationships (created at the same time as Adonis, they don’t get along well.), will never be able to experience genuine love or have a good relationship with someone, whether that be platonic or romantic.
Adonis, however, doesn’t enjoy godhood. He finds his equals uninteresting and is much more fascinated by the concept of mortality. Because of this, he occasionally breaks the rules to have brief interactions with mortals under the guise of being one himself. He does this as a taxi/limousine driver for whatever reason. It just seemed fitting. He never establishes connections with the people he picks up, just has little talks with them and such. It’s a nice change of pace for him. no he doesn’t know these people are used to paying for being driven around and yes he definitely got confused when the first few people asked him what he charged. Adonis typically never goes to the same place twice because he’s immortal so it’s like. if you get him as a driver once when you’re like 20 and then again when you’re like 50 and it’s the same memorable guy who has not changed at all it’s a bit suspicious.
So one day, Rosé (going by Roe at the time but using Rosé as a show name) gets into a taxi and lo and behold, it’s Don’s. The two connect pretty quickly as Roe sort of vents to him about how he feels like he’s never on the same page as anyone else and Adonis is like “wow he’s just like me!!!”. Roe is also noticing how this guy is actually taking what he’s saying seriously and isn’t ogling him and wow that’s a first for him, so he asks Don if he’d like to meet up sometime. Adonis, for the first time ever, decides “fuck it” and agrees. yeah buddy maybe you shouldn’t do that the rules are in place for a reason.
So the two grow close and eventually get into a relationship with eachother. Roe’s still oblivious to the fact that Don’s a god, however he’s a bit concerned about how he’s never been over to Don’s place and sees him like monthly. Eventually, Adonis tells him the truth and Roe actually takes it pretty damn well, especially for someone who grew up catholic and then likely switched over to atheism. They start spending more time together and Adonis even takes him to the ethereal realm (where all of the gods are) a few times (the gods do not know about this).
That’s all pretty neat and they’re doing pretty well, but something happens (likely a different god got caught breaking a rule and got punished severely) that made Adonis a bit paranoid about everything. So naturally, he decides “hey i know this has never been done before and might not even be possible, but what if i transferred some of my mystical god power stuff onto you so that you and i wouldn’t have to hide our relationship because you’d be like. a god too” and roe’s not like a huge fan of that idea because they’ve been together for like two years and that’s a big commitment. no godhood before marriage. but after a LOT of convincing, he finally agrees to Adonis’s plan that probably won’t even work.
It’s painful. Every part of it is painful. The initial surge of magic rushing through his veins, coursing through his soul and overwhelming every part of his mind and body. Tearing apart at who he once was and replacing it with something new and foreign, something that was never meant for a human to experience. Something he couldn’t possibly have handled. After the initial shock wore down, he felt sick. Maybe it was just a cold. Maybe the worst of it was over. Maybe it hadn’t worked. He wanted to believe it hadn’t. He was bedridden for days, he could barely even move because of the pain he was experiencing. After a few weeks, he was able to move again, but his skin was always condensed with clammy sweat. He could feel each individual cell in his body, rearranging and adjusting to make way for new ones. Everything in his apartment was so fuzzy. He was so cold. Every day he questioned if he would even survive it. He secretly hoped he wouldn’t.
Adonis didn’t visit for another month. When he did, he was obviously concerned. Roe seemed so much more distant. He wouldn’t let him inside of his apartment, but he wouldn’t leave it either. Roe felt too sluggish and weak. Don tried to help him by bringing him gifts and medicines, but nothing seemed to really help. They were still able to talk to each other, but something about it seemed to lack authenticity. It just seemed hollow now.
After the first few weeks, Roe’s skin cells began to rapidly deteriorate and flake off. Every inch of flesh itched and burned, but he could do nothing to stop it. No ointments helped. Painkillers didn’t provide relief either. His skin cracked and peeled, and yet he was still as clammy as ever. Clothes irritated his body as well. He had to stop going out of the apartment all together after that. Adonis’s concern grew, but he couldn’t do much. Roe couldn’t help but feel frustrated with Don. Adonis found every possible way to berate him or blame him for his state (“have you not been taking care of yourself?”, “you look like a mess”, “what would you do without me?”). He didn’t want to start a fight, he was tired and Adonis was just trying to look out for him.
The more time went on, the worse things got. Roe became irritable and snappish as his agony became unbearable. His eyes had become warped and his irises moved fluidly and shifted in the whites as they took on a new shape. The flesh around his ears had almost flaked and melted off like wax and soon the cartilage became frail and brittle, before snapping off entirely. His abdomen had begun experiencing a similar change. The skin had rotted and his liver and stomach was beginning to fail and shrivel. He could consciously feel every bit of it. At this point in time, he had given up. He didn’t care what it would take, he just wanted the pain to stop. It didn’t matter if his life would never go back to how it was, that wasn’t his goal anymore. He just wanted an out.
He tried several times, several methods. His violence and panic increased with each attempt. It was only after he’d punctured clean through his gut that he realized he couldn’t even escape through death.
Roe’s fights with Adonis got worse too. Adonis always tried to act righteous, never taking blame or responsibility for Roe’s condition. Adonis hated to admit it to himself, but he didn’t recognize his partner anymore. Besides Roe’s now sickening appearance, he had also grown bitter and resentful. He seemed miserable, even when Adonis was with him. He snapped at Adonis often.
Adonis grew tired of having to put up with Roe’s behavior. He’d been so patient. He’d tried to be understanding, but everything he did was met with passive aggression or a scoff. He couldn’t just give up, he did love Roe, even like this. Roe was lucky to have him at all. Lucky that he’d stuck around and seen things through, even when he looked like a corpse. Who else would ever give a fuck about some has-been freak show with no real friends or family? He was there for him, but nobody else would ever be.
Roe knew he was right. Why would anyone give him the time of day? If he was a freak before, he’d probably be chased down with pitchforks and torches now. Or pinned down and locked up as a medical mystery. There wasn’t anywhere in this world that he could go. Adonis had taken that away from him with his humanity.
He stopped fighting back and arguing, he was too tired. He didn’t want to be mad at Don. He couldn’t help it. Every time Roe saw his face, he was only reminded of what had been taken from him. He entered a depressive spiral even more so than before. The little ridges on his back— the new bones, had broken skin now. It hurt to move, to breath. He was used to his body rearranging itself by now, and yet it still found new ways to torture him and keep him on edge. He couldn’t sleep anymore either. It was impossible to lie in bed without a surge of pain waking him up every few minutes.
Adonis kept visiting. He thought things would be better now that Roe had finally stopped acting hysterically, but somehow this was even worse. Roe just looked pathetic. Defeated. It was irritating. Was he ignoring him on purpose? How much pain could he possibly be in? He wasn’t screaming after all. Weren’t mortals supposed to scream and cry and bitch when they got hurt? he couldn’t understand why Roe was still acting like this. It had been almost a year. Why wasn’t he healed yet?
When the skeletal frames of several pairs of wings started growing, his mood flared once more. He was definitely screaming now, sobbing and breaking down. His finances had worn too, he didn’t know how much longer he would be allowed to stay. He hadn’t left his apartment in a year. He’d given up eating what seemed like forever ago. He wasn’t the only one yelling anymore though. He and Adonis had regular screaming matches, throwing curses at each other. It was something he’d never seen from Adonis before. What’s worse is that afterwards, his boyfriend would go back to endlessly trying to comfort him after he grew exhausted from the crying and fighting. Meaningless apologies. An inescapable cycle.
Pin feathers. Prickly little fucks lining where his ears once were and the new bones on his back. His back felt constantly weighed down by them. His body weight was entirely off-balance considering both the wings and the fact that everything between his ribs and pelvis had entirely rotted away and decomposed, leaving dysfunctional intestines hanging limply and coiling down in the cavity that had formed internally in his waist. His spine was the only thing stopping his body from splitting in half.
That’s probably when Adonis realized just how horrific he had become. This thing wasn’t his partner anymore, it was a rabid creature masquerading as something sentient. A monster. What he had tried to do had failed. He felt guilty, of course he did, but with the way Roe was acting, why should he stay? If all that Roe would do was scream and cry and sob, why would he stay? He had tried and tried, it wasn’t his fault anymore.
And so he left. He stopped visiting all together. Stopped bringing things, stopped giving Roe the bit of company he had. When the realization hit Roe, his initial reaction was one of self-loathing. If he had tried a bit harder to be more considerate, just a bit harder to imagine how Don must have felt after—
After what? After he’d ruined his life? After he’d successfully stripped Roe of the few things that brought him joy? After he’d abandoned him after making him suffer for so long?
Why the fuck should he feel responsible?
His transformation came to its end shortly after Adonis left. A month at most. It was almost ironic. If he had stuck around for just a bit longer, everything could have been different.
He wasn’t himself anymore, that was what Adonis had been right about. He was filled with rage. His mind was so much clearer now that the pain had subsided. Spite and hatred overran every inch of his being. Disgust, too. He wanted nothing more than to rip Adonis’s head clean off of his body.
But he couldn’t reach him. They were still on entirely different planes of existence. Not to mention, Roe wasn’t nearly as powerful as him.
Not yet, anyways.
Roe adjusted to his new form and abilities. When you’re wasting away for a year, you’re eager to finally feel alive again. He found that he was able to drain people of their energy and power to add to his own. He could control the emotions of the people around him and manipulate their situations without them even knowing! He finally felt in control.
Years went by. The great depression started and ended, wars passed by like bullets, generations shifted and changed. He stayed stagnant, never aging or taking his eyes off of his goal. He learned to use his powers more sparingly and more spitefully. He even discovered how to concentrate bits of his magic into love potions and began to sell them in exchange for having just a teensy bit of someone’s life force and/or magic drained.
he’d managed to make himself a nice little pocket dimension, a domain only capable of being entered if he permitted it. It was a nice replacement for his old apartment. It was surreal being able to make something out of nothing. He’d grown a reputation for himself in the right circles. He didn’t really care all that much that his “business” was probably ruining the lives or relationships of other people. Hell, that was the goal. The more he meddled with the affairs of other people, the more likely Adonis was to come down and confront him. Plus, it was really funny. He knew that the relationships he set up were doomed to fail. He counted on it.
anyways fun facts about rosé and adonis!!
- Rosé is cajun and can speak French!! he’s actually bilingual and speaks French and English. he also can speak Spanish. being immortal gives you a lot of time to practice.
- Adonis has changed a lot and definitely feels hella guilty abt everything but like. he knows better than to come down to apologize because he learned his lesson abt being around mortals. he’s actually rlly bent out of shape over the whole thing and is like “why the hell did i do that”. i don’t forgive him tbh!
- Rosé has a HEAVY Louisianan/New Orleans accent
- Rosé mostly listens to old swing and jazz music, however he also enjoys some modern day stuff. Like his playlists are probably wild.
- Rosé’s favorite foods are crepes and shrimp creole
- While they were dating, Rosé and Adonis’s relationship was very fluffy and decently healthy before everything went downhill. apart from like “wow he understands me” when one of them is a literal god and the other is a dude who just wants to be accepted by society
- Adonis’s relationship was never discovered by the other gods. they don’t really know what caused his shift in behavior.
- Adonis and Evolen were the first humanoid gods, most before them had inhuman forms that represented abstract concepts. After their creation, most other gods took on more humanoid forms with the exceptions of Lih’ka and Akh’ala (God of creation who i might rename later). akh’ala has a humanoid form but only uses it from time to time.
- Adonis still has feelings for Rosé
- Rosé is convinced he physically can’t feel love towards anyone anymore (he can he’s just really specific with preferences and also isn’t mentally ready for another relationship)
- Rosé was born intersex but identifies as a man. He enjoys dressing and looking feminine though.
- Rosé is omnisexual with a male preference
- Adonis is pansexual
- Rosé started going by Rosé after his transformation as a way to separate himself from who he was before, sort of like turning over a new leaf.
- As mentioned in the text above, Rosé sells love potions. Because it’s technically his magic, they’d have no effect if he were to drink one.
- Rosé finds it hard to connect with or feel empathetic for other people.
- Rosé, while existing in the same universe/story as Koi and all of those people, is not part of the main storyline at all. He’s his own separate thing for separate things.
- Rosé’s magic is extremely powerful and difficult to break. He is one of the only people who can break it once it’s in action besides Adonis.

I'm struggling to process his smoking, but not for reasons most people are complaining about. I lost my grandma at a young age to emphysema. The only memories I really have of her are her oxygen tanks all over her home. She couldn't even leave her house because she was oxygen dependent. My uncle has emphysema and it's hard seeing him go through really bad coughing spells. There have been times where I thought he was going to pass out from coughing so hard. My parents have been heavy smokers for 40+ years, so I'm worried about them too. My mom's lips have ugly brown stains on them from all the smoking. My uncle's fingernails are stained brown. All of their teeth are stained brown. It's really hard seeing the people you love look like that and die from that.
Aside from that, I had first hand experience what living with smokers is really like. It's not a glamorous lifestyle. I lived at home with my parents for about 25 years. There is nothing worse than watching the pretty color you picked for your walls in your bedroom turn brown within a year of painting. There is nothing worse than picking up a picture frame of you and your best friend and feeling how sticky it is from nicotine. It covers everything and turns it all brown and sticky. And washing it? Forget about it. Just throw it away. And there is nothing worse than at 13/14 years old going to a friend's birthday party and your friends asking why you smell like an ashtray. And there's nothing worse than your friends not wanting to come to your house because of how bad the smell of smoke. I can't tell you how alienated I felt as a teenager because all of my friends hated the smell of smoke. My parents were the only smoking parents out of my friend group.
All I have are bad memories relating to people smoking. It led to a lot of embarrassment for me. So for me to see JK smoking, all I picture is him at 50 years old looking like my parents and uncle with their stained lips, teeth and fingernails, or worse, being oxygen dependent and dying like my grandma. It's very hard for me to process that JK isn't going to turn out like that. I just keep seeing the negative side of it, and the images are horrifying to me.
I know that he is a grown adult that is well aware of the risks of smoking. It's his decision to ignore those risks. I'm not about to parent him. I don't even know him, so my opinion doesn't matter to him. I hope he's smoking casually, or socially with friends. I hope he's not smoking several packs a day like my family members do. I know how important singing is to him, and I want him to have a happy, healthy, successful career. I don't want to see his career cut short because of the decisions he made in his 20s. I wish he would not only think about today, but also think 10, 20, 30 years down the line. Your body does not stay young forever. The things you do when you're young affect you greatly as you age. Once you hit your 40s and 50s, you wind up regretting a lot of stuff you did in your 20s. Trust me, I know from experience. It's true.
None of what I've said will ever change the way I adore him. I think he is an amazing person, and a wonderful singer. He will always be my bias. I will never abandon him as a fan. I will always support him. But I don't have to support or like every decision he makes. We are all unique and we all have different opinions because we have experienced different things in life. For me, smoking has always been negative. So I come at his smoking from a negative point of view. Somehow I will have to accept it and move on and not let it bother me so much. But for now it's fresh in my mind and bothering me. I hope you can understand why I feel the way I feel.
i totally get it and this is just my opinion now but I’ve also always been surrounded by smokers all my life and I guess for ME I just don’t think of it as that big of a deal. Not to mention, most of us already knew that he vaped and like we knew Taehyung did too y’know and i think Yoongi but im not sure, I guess I just don’t see how it’s that big of a surprise to some [not saying you <3] to see him smoke and then attack him for it. he’s grown and he knows the dangers of smoking and like you don’t have to support his decisions but it’s the people villainizehim for a norm thing that drive me nuts
