Ways that we tell each other apart that may or may not work for some of you:

One thing we noticed about ourselves is that our voices are very different from each other. Mine (Barbed Wire) is a lot deeper than Kandi's (who is very high pitched because they are a child). While it may come naturally to us, admitedly it is hard to seperate my voice from Sargent's or Lupus (other alters we have). So Think of what your voice is supposed to sound like and emulate it with the body's voice.

Name tests. Self explanatory. Go through he lost of names of alters you suspect you might be. Often times if you refer to "yourself" in third person (Example: I just don't know if I'm Vezzel or not) then you probably aren't them or you're co-con

If you have another relationship (, familial, platonic, or romantic) with another alter, then see if you are willing to be affectionate with them like "you" usually are. Vezzel is dating X, I am not. Vezzel would shower X in love and affection and would say they love love love them so much, but I wouldn't. Thinking of saying the things Vezzel would usually say evokes hesitation and discomfort. You'll want to look out for that.

If you're a system who has at least a few items you keep seperate for their members, then it's important to see which one you're more comfortable using. I'd rather not use the system blog unless I'm making system advice posts like these. This also works with our playlist's because of our different music tastes. NOTE: it is important to not use your alter's seperate spaces while they aren't fronting.

Writing down or remembering your opinions on things. Vezzel and I have differing opinions on things like Syscourse (We're both pro Endo, but it's the minute things) and how we should respond to people. Even if all of your system has similar opinions, there should be at least one that is slightly different from your own. (If there isn't that's okay.)

We are still a fairly new system, but this is what works for us. Might be easier for some, might be more difficult for others. Feel free to add on more things. Dividers and borders were used to make blocks of text easier to read.

It’s never okay to lock a headmate away, never. They could be the worst person in the world, you still shouldn’t lock them away. There’s a difference between keeping headmates away from eachother and taking away someone’s privacy, free will and connections. You are abandoning that headmate, you are telling them that they are not worth helping, that they don’t deserve to get better. If talking it out doesn’t work for them there are other options, I’d recommend giving them their own space to speak their mind without threat of mistreatment for it, for starters. If someone really doesn’t want help don’t force it on them, just let them know it’s always an option and leave it at that. -Ange

You can and you should!

I could go off about how one of the best things anyone can do as a portrayal of anything is to humanize the subject, especially of experiences as complex and misunderstood as plurality. That art is the way we connect with each other, exercise our imagination and our empathy, get others to understand our radically different lived experiences.

But do it because you want to.

Do it because you can see yourself.

Do it because it's cathartic to watch a character encounter with the same thoughts, emotions, and situations as you.

Sometimes, it even becomes answers to questions you'd been grappling with for a long time, and you learn something about yourself. If it feels good, pursue it. That's all the justification you need.

Plural tip for systems that track fronts; be lenient on tracking who may be active. Like, this is your brain, not the tax office. You don't have to perform a bunch of extremely specific checks just to make sure a headmate is truly active; you can just acknowledge their presence in whatever form that may take. Trust that they'll talk to you if they want something, and just let yourselves be. Even if they don't do anything, it still gives them history. Your headmates will appreciate having a place in your system's history, even if they don't remember exactly what they did or said in every single instance.

And even your front history isn't entirely accurate? They'll likely still appreciate that you think about them.

Tiny bit of unnecessary exposition of my mlp au rules;

-The earliest a pony can get their cutie mark is around age 5, AKA kindergarten years, but it’s not abnormal to be a blank flank until age 18/puberty stops. The “prime” time for a pony to get their cutie marks is when puberty starts around age 10-15, cause this is when people start finding out who they are and all that stuff.

-In my au, ponies are the only sentient species. There is pony racism, though just like irl, it’s based off of the coat color and hair texture instead of species like in mlp. Though unlike in the show, people are much more accepting and have moved past those discriminatory views.

-Ponies start learning to use their magic/how to fly around age 5, and are usually mastered it around age 8.

Um I think that’s it for worldbuilding OK PONY TIME!

Lily is an earth pony! She got her cutie mark when she found Billy and ‘bloomed’ again after she ‘wilted’. It basically represents her resilience and determination after going through such a bad time in her life. “Waterlily” came from her actual name, and I thought it fit her nicely :-)

Billy is also an earth pony; he got his cutie mark in the second game when he successfully rescued the trapped kids with Lily. It represents his inquisitive personality and also matches his sister’s! :3 he’s slightly duller because of spending so much time in the lab. I came up with his name by just finding another kind of Lily that matches with Waterlily ^_^

Kid is an earth pony— he got his cutie mark on Monday after completing his first mission. The apple represents how he compartmentalizes his time in his head; how he has a certain amount of apples to complete a task. The compass shows how he’s able to help people with what they need. I made his name by just translating Kid into pony language :P

Nugget!! He’s a pegasus who’s alright at best when it comes to flying. He got his cutie mark before Monday, when he made his first Nugget Cave. It basically represents his love for digging and nuggets. He flies people up and down his Nugget Cave when they want to see, but since he’s still not the best at flying, he needs the nuggets to cushion their landing. I wanted to keep “Nugget” in his name, and Gold Nugget was right there, so that’s how he got his name lol!

Felix Huxley :0 he’s a unicorn with pretty good magic, he can lift most small objects and can pull around Ted if he feels like it. He got his cutie mark after Cain’s Not Able, it represents his loyalty to AppleSoft and his dedication to his reputation/image. His name slightly matches wirh Ted, though it’s supposed to be more “serious” and “business-y”.

Ted Huxley ^_^ also a unicorn, his magic strength is comparable to Felix’s. He got his cutie mark after the alt ending of Cain’s Not Able— because of the loops, both of them just woke up “randomly” on Tuesday with their marks. It shows his dedication to the company, but through his personal values instead of image. I came up with his name by trying to think of one that could be “nicknamed” two times, like how Theodore can become Ted and Teddy. So, only Felix calls him Stormy, while everyone else calls him Storm. Also, the suffix ‘Bright’ seemed nicer than ‘Flare’, even though they’re comparable in definition. So I thought it fit!

Monty is a unicorn, his magic is really only good for moving around small objects and not much more. It’s really helpful for making gadgets, which is also how he got his cutie mark! It represents his ability to make gizmos as well as being a darn good business man. He got it after he sold a bunch of stuff his first week of kindergarten. I thought the phrase “circular logic” fit Monty and that’s really it on his name lol

Ozzy! I’ve drawn him before but I changed his cutie mark slightly :P he’s a pegasus, pretty alright at flying but he doesn’t really care to get better at the moment. He flaps his wings when he gets overwhelmed :’) He got his cutie mark in science class after looking at a plant under the microscope. I came up with his name because he comes across as kinda soft and timid, like the word ‘weeping’, but can pack a mean punch, like the stinging nettle plant.

Buggs is an earth pony that got cutie mark by just… overall being a delinquent. But! He can be smart, which is where the magnifying glass comes in; it represents his ability to make and go through with plans if he wants to. His name doesn’t represent much, I just thought it fit really well :3

Jerome was a TOUGH one to work with cause there is NOT a much to work with with him :( but!! I tried!! So firstly he tried SO hard to make his cutie mark a yo-yo. But he ended up getting it on Tuesday, representing his resilience for getting thru his emotional turbulence. He’s a unicorn with moderately strong magic. I came up with his name just by looking up pony name ideas because again I had no idea how to do him and I thought it fit!

Carla my beloved ❤️ she’s a pegasus and by far the best at flying out of everyone, despite having kinda small wings. She got her cutie mark by sneaking into Dr. Danner’s room for the first time and changing the lesson plan— it represents her being sneaky and skillfully getting into places she shouldn’t. “Stormchaser” came from how Carla loves doing things she knows is dangerous/will get her in trouble for the thrill of it, just like storm chasing. Since Ted already goes by Storm, she goes by Chase.

Cindy’s a pegasus, but she’s the least skilled at flying despite having the biggest wings. She got her cutie mark by bullying Lily in front of the whole class 😭 it represents her being feisty and explosive while having such a sweet appearance. Her name is ironic, considering she’s the least gentle kid at school, probably.

Penny’s our last one so far! She’s a unicorn with the strongest magic, as it was mechanically enhanced. Her cutie mark is a walkie-talkie going off with a heart in the display, showing her tattletale-y nature despite having good intentions. She got it the first time she “sent someone to the principal’s office”. She is honest at heart, which is where her name came from.

Tips for systems who have alters with those sources

Listen, we've all interacted systems who have alters from those sources at least once. Y'know the ones; sources that aren't so kind.

This can be a struggle for those in said system as it can distress the system and other's due to the alter's source being upsetting. This post is for those system who have said alters and, more specifically, some tips to help or encourage the alter to disconnect from the source. Tips below cut!

1. Discussion ‧₊˚⊹‧₊˚⊹

First, talk with them. Tell them what makes their source problematic/distressing. Make sure they know that their source and their identity is an upsetting topic and why it's best that they change how they view the source and that they should disconnect from the source and develop a new, separate identity that isn't their previous one.

It's best to think this over beforehand and possibly write/type it down and finalize it before actually saying it. Don't be too aggressive and try to keep the tone neutral as to not make the alter feel pressured or like they need to defend themselves.

2. Support ‧₊˚⊹‧₊˚⊹

Changing their identity can be very difficult as they are essentially abandoning everything about themselves which can be distressing and upsetting. It's best to make sure that they know that they have a 24/7 support system and that they can ask questions if they need help or are stuck on how to shift into an entirely different person.

3. Identity ‧₊˚⊹‧₊˚⊹

Help them look at terms for genders, orientations, etc to help them figure out what to identify as while turning into this new and improved version of themself. Use their interests and features to find neopronouns that they could possibly use. Browse multiple communities beyond gender and orientation; such as the nonhuman community.

4. Avoiding ‧₊˚⊹‧₊˚⊹

Help them avoid things that relate to their source such as others from that same source, content from that source, etc. Specify publicly that people should avoid certain topics and that it could harm their recovery progress. If people insist on interacting with you and bringing up the source, immediately block them; If they can't acknowledge boundaries then they won't be acknowledged at all.

I’ve toiled with the idea of being transfem numerous times. By that, I mean I there have been a couple phases in my life where I thought I was transfem. I always snapped out of it though. every time though, I’m just aching to be pretty, have long flowing hair, wear pretty clothes, but I can’t have that. I’ve accepted that. No one in my life would be happy if I went down that route so I just tough it out.
