y'all ever think abt how it was julie having the affair and it is even said multiple times that she was the one who left him, yet wilson was still the one who left their home and moved in with house. like. he couldn't bear to stay in their home alone. he immediately ran to house and stayed on his couch for weeks. suffered through his pranks and his laziness and his manipulation. telling him he wants him gone while sabotaging his attempts to leave. and he only left once he got a girlfriend again.
#chyanne speaks#house md#hilson#hate crimes md#gregory house#james wilson#i think his inability to be alone is such an interesting quality of his that isnt touched on enough#like yes we all haha at his long string of unsuccessful relationships but we dont talk abt it all stemming from his inability to be alone#his first wife leaves him and then he remarried quickly#he cheats on the second wife and remarries quickly#the third wife cheats on him and leaves him and he immediately moves in with house#and then starts dating a patient and immediately moves in with her#but!!! then he moves into the hotel and is alone for like almost a year! and honestly he NEEDED IT#bc GROWTH happened in that year and he meets someone who doesn't fit his M.O. who breaks away from the mold#although he does immediately move in with her too but still. amber was different. she was the step in the right direction#and then she dies.#and then wilson throws himself into the left field. everything needs to change. he's spent so long fearing being alone.#so he tries to leave so he is completely and totally alone without house to fall back on#but house needs him. he needs him too much. they need each other too much.#and he falls back to house again. and he's content that way. he's always the most content when he's with house. always feels the least alone#and then sam comes back into his life and ruins e v e r y t h i n g#he falls right back onto those old patterns. kicks house out and moves her in. and then what happens??? of course??? she leaves him. again.#and then he's alone again and it hurts. he gets a cat that we only hear about twice and then never gets brought up again#but wilson has his kitty. he has house. he's not alone. he can be content.#and then house fucks everything up. he goes to prison. wilson is alone again.#im honestly SHOCKED that wilson didnt remarry in that year they were apart but he was rly trying to change!#he was working on himself and trying to make changed he thought would be good for him#and then house comes back. and house won't LET wilson be alone. he wont leave him alone.#and it's exactly what wilson has been yearning for since the day he drove that car into cuddys house#and in the end. as long as he had house that was all that mattered. as long as he had house he wasn't alone.

Me normally: Let people love what they love
Me, after a Test Match Special commentator expresses their belief that the new All Creatures Great and Small is somehow "better" than the 1978 version: This is pure insanity and TMS can no longer be trusted on anything, how can they even be trusted to know about cricket, do they have no TASTE
#Look it's fine that this show exists and people will watch it and like it and that's ok maybe it's just not for me#But that was like a statement purely designed to piss me off#There were lots of issues with the 1978 adaptation! I still vastly preferred the books any day!#And I actually initially had high hopes for the new one because they at least cast a Scot (albeit a Highlander not a Clydesider) as James#And the actors at least looked a little bit younger than Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy#And thank god Helen actually sounds like she's a farmer's daughter and doesn't speak RP!#But from the half hour I've seen of it I've had to write off this new adaptation#For two major reasons#First of all there's Siegfried#Siegfried is one of the key central aspects of the vibe of the books and therefore key to any adaptation#Robert Hardy was too short and too old for the part but he lived and breathed the character#The twinkle in the eye bouncing off the walls and in and out of rooms followed by half a dozen dogs utterly full of life even when angry#But this new Siegfried is just sort of... Eeyore-esque; he comes into a room and you can see the flowers droop and the set turn grey#Siegfried was angry Siegfried was happy and the historical character he was based on was no stranger to melancholy#Since Donald Sinclair did commit suicide or rather self-euthanasia after Alf Wight and his own wife Audrey died#But this slow grumbly figure in the new adaptation is not Siegfried Farnon- the book character didn't grumble more often he exploded#And why did the adaptation give him a dead wife that's so weird? What could that possibly add to the source material?#And this brings me onto my second problem which is to do with women and age#Firstly I have no idea why they aged down Mrs Hall or at least made her look younger than a woman her age would have back then#But what really drove me mad was when Heriot goes out to see some old woman hill farmer in the episode I saw#And this woman is far too clean and young-looking and you can see that she's wearing 'natural' look make-up#And a perfect set of clothes that looked like they were straight out of the House of Bruar autumn collection catalogue#Say what you like about the 1978 adaptation but old women looked like old women regardless of whether or not they wore make-up#It may be that the better quality of television screens means that the 'natural look' shows up on screen more clearly than it would have#But natural look make-up was not really a thing in the 1930s and for old women Yorkshire hill farmers I doubt they'd have much on at all#They just don't seem to be capable of allowing people to look old and wrinkled and real or have bad teeth or unattractive clothes#And everything is far too tidy- everybody looks far too perfectly country and quaint#Anyway the moral of this story is of course that I always recommend reading the books because they're much better#than any tv adaptation; but if forced to choose at least the 1970s one felt real and yet didn't have to be grim either#Ok that's my rant over please do feel free to enjoy the show I just got annoyed because the opinion was expressed on TMS

Also what if I said the show taking time to show that Luz and Hunter aren't unhealthily dependent on one another post time skip the way they were in thanks to them (but still close seen in Luz's patches on her clothes or Hunter taking time off work to go to Luz's bday) actually plays in to the cycle of sibling betrayal motif w/ the Clawthornes and Wittebanes????
#ramblings of a lunatic#the owl house#toh#luz noceda#hunter toh#bc like. both of the previous generations of siblings had incredibly small/non-existant support networks outside of each other#the wittebanes were orphans and bc Caleb was philips caretaker as well as his brother#(and also just kinda. a pattern with philip)#he loves caleb on the condition that he agrees with and stays with philip. and when Caleb stops meeting these conditions love is revoked#in the form of. yknow. murder and cloning and then murdering the clones#bc again it's less about the ambiguous abandonment and more about the 'living a life i don't agree with and therefore can't be part of-#-due to my own selfishness and bigotry' thing philips got going on#a mindset that would be understandable for a powerless child but is ridiculous coming from a 400 year old god king#Lilith is ALSO in a state of preoccupation and arrested development when we meet her!#the thing that drove a wedge between the Clawthorne sisters was the fact that they were no longer each others codependent supports#Eda had Raine and is clearly closer/at least gets more undivided attention from their parents#not that eda's life is all rainbows and sunshine- she's still an outcast. but she has people other than Lilith#everything we see from the gallery nucleus art to edas old photos portrays the hagsquad as eda's friendgroup. not Lilith's#and years later in s1 even when Lilith is at the top of the boiling isles social latter she's still hung up on Eda#both bc of her guilt but bc she seemingly has no friends who are also her equals#she wants her codependent support system back no matter the damage it'll cause to Eda#bc much like philip she's sort of in a state of arrested development#it's a theme with toh antagonists#the difference being Lilith tried to grow up too fast and was never able to move beyond her teenage conceptualisation of maturity#so she's good at pretending to be mature when really she's not#all this to say that Luz and Hunter don't have this problem outside of thanks to them when they're at their self-hate peak#luz has her mom her owl fam Amity Willow Gus. Hunter now has Camila Gus and Willow and eventually Darius#they don't NEED to be the only one the other can count on and bc of that they're not gonna lose their shit when the other does something-#-they feel they can't/don't want to be a part of#anyway I'm out of tags but. this was a good move writing wise actually even if i love their dynamic. we got a whole special abt them

I've seen a lot of hooha about Cuddy leaving being completely out of character but ?? Would a normal person not leave if they felt that both their life and their child's life were in danger?? Cuddy has throughout the series been shown to be the Rational foil to House's insanity, and before her leaving she decided to put House's needs firmly Below Hers. She had a child, bro.

watching astarion's horde of undead summons follow us around is the funniest thing to me. just another day in baldur's gate, citizens, nothing to worry about here! carry on and don't mind the smell of rotting flesh!

I think we might have trauma tied to the literal feeling of falling asleep/waking up. Like we get nightmares that are just. The feeling of changing concousness but drawn out + adrenaline + terror
#this may be from sleep paralysis? because we also get that sometimes#also sometimes when falling asleep we get like a rush of adrenaline and if we're far enough along well get shot into sleep paralysis or#start half dreaming about being woken up from a coma or dying.#which like 99% of the time is what we want? but then these things hapoen and its like. huh. maybe i DO have a will to live#it feels less like me or another alter and more like the body literally things its dying.#this happens both sober and intoxicated but doesn't seems to happen more frequently when intoxicated which is interesting#if anything its usually easier to push through#but one time we were like super fucking stoned with my ex and i started flipping my shit because im chill like thag#and so he took me out to the car vecasue i was like “i cant be in the house snymore its not safe i cant be here”#and he leaves to go get something and im like terrified to fall asleep#it gets worse when im scared sometimes. like a certain type of fear its like horror feeling.#anyways so im trying ot to pass out and im convince if i do ill never come back and my ex enters the car and i start screaming. like bloody#murder. and then HE screams. so then were both screaming. and eventually one of us stops screaming. and i dont remember which one. and i was#like :( im sorry that was really embarrassing but also im still so scared im sorry#and he was like 'its chill.' and then he goes to get another thing later and hes like Dont. Scream. When i get back. Dont Scream.#and i was like . okay 👍🏼.#and then he got back and i screamed. but it was easier to stop that time#and then his mom drove us around the neighborhood and i convinced my self that the whole world was just a figment of her imagination#and that really helped for somereason#so.#this kinda got away from me but basically i had one of those drawn out consciousness change night mares last night#dream log

i had a conversation yesterday about hpv and the gardasil vaccine with a colleague that's a couple years older than me after learning that a colleague might have cervical cancer. i told him how lucky my sister and i had been to have parents who were super open about sex education and health. some of our friends didn't have that chance, that led us to get plan b for some, get them tested for stds or even our mom driving one to the hospital for an abortion. anyway, he told me that his parents and his family never ever would have talked about it because of religion and how they think they shouldn't have these discussions. it's wild to me that people are willing to have kids but won't protect them by having a couple of uncomfortable talks with them. whatever happens kids will be kids, they'll grow and have their first experiences if you want it or not. you can just try to make it so that when the time comes they're as safe and prepared as possible. who cares if that's uncomfortable? against your values? do you think children always respect the parents' values? lol no! they'll do everything behind their backs and put themselves in even more danger. if they don't want to have talks about sex condoms stds and consent then get a younger uncle to do it or something idk. it's your duty to educate and keep your children safe.
#i don't want kids for a lot of reasons but if i learned something bc of what my sister put our family through#is that kids do stupid shit whatever you do if they've decided to do it they will#just make them safe#and do everything to keep their trust#at least i hope im gonna be a good aunt#same thing for picking kids up#i knew that anywhere at any time no matter what id done drunk or taken i could call my parents and they'd come pick me up#no matter what#my sister had to call my parents once she was drunk out of her mind at one of her bf's friends' neighbour house#and they guy was really drunk and started playing with a chainsaw#before that he had insisted on showing where the bathroom was to her and she was freaking out#her bf was also super drunk neither could drive#my parents drove 40km at 3am to go pick them up#and that was a couple of years ago when they were already adults#if there's anything i don't want to mess up is telling my nieces and nephew that no matter what when or where they can call and i'll come#no questions asked nothing#kids need to have adults they can trust and that won't scream or punish them#this was a late night saturday ramble#good night

#inspired by the fact my uncle is selling a house that's been in our family since the '60s#and I am making a special effort to go up to see it before they leave#whereas my mother lives 30 minutes away and she will Not drive by it or visit my uncle at the house#because she said she can't#how I handled my breakup was also absolutely incomprehensible to her#I mean she supported me of course but she just couldn't really fathom why I drove all the way over there to have a last conversation#she would have gone no contact the first instant he expressed a desire to end things#so funny how different we are as humans from each other

let me tell you, it's barely past noon for me and Monday has already been a Trial™
at least now i can get to the good part of the day (writing)
#like first of all#three separate people almost hit me on the road because they were driving like crazy people#i had to drive halfway across town to check on my mom's puppy#and she left a pillow on the couch that he chewed to bits#there was polyfil everywhere#the only plus side to that is that i'm going to repurpose the polyfil for my crocheting#oh yeah also#there was some sus person that walked up to her house this morning at like 7am#and seemed like they were trying not to be caught by the doorbell camera#(they were)#and they only turned tail and left because of the dogs barking at the door#and then i drove back across town for 30 minutes with my coffee machine#which was stable and fine#and fell over literally 30 seconds away from my destination#sending coffee grounds everywhere#oh yeah did i mention i'm borrowing the car i'm driving rn?#so i had to clean that up stat because it's my friend's car and i really don't wanna mess up their car#that's what i get for not dumping the coffee grounds out of it first i guess#but also it didn't budge during all my high speed driving and only tipped when i was making a slight right going 10mph so#monday just has it out for me i think#i've only been awake for <4 hours and i'm already exhausted#non writing
