Oh, we were discussing love languages in the Tea Room last night, so. DC Muse Love Languages: Bruce Wayne is acts of service. I think this one is pretty obvious. He's a giver. He wants to take care of people. He wants to make his city safe. He wants to show his love through his actions. And he's terrible at words. This also means that he will also cater towards how the people he cares about prefer to receive love.
For receiving love himself, I think he definitely feels actions weigh more than words, and there are very few people whose words he truly trusts. I think he prefers to receive love through acts of service as well. Show him who you are and what you want to do for him.
Dick Grayson is acts of service. Dick is also a giver, like Bruce, but I think he shows his love like this because of the effects it can have. If he can make someone's day brighter or easier by doing something, he will. He wants to cause sunshine on a cloudy day. It's part of his optimism and enthusiasm for life.
For receiving, I think he prefers quality time. He just wants to be able to have that time with the people he loves most.
Barbara Gordon is quality time, I think. She just gives me the vibes of how she always has to be doing something, so when she wants to show someone she loves them, she makes it clear that her attention is theirs. She wants to spend time with them and just exist with them. She loves those moments together.
For receiving, I think that it's also quality time. Part of this stems from cherishing those moments when she was able to have that time with her dad, and I think she loves knowing that someone is giving her that attention.
Diana Prince is acts of service. I think that she could definitely have multiple, but I think that in the end, acts of service takes the cake. She defines herself by her beliefs and her actions, and she needs to show who she is through her actions, and that includes her feelings.
For receiving, I think she prefers physical touch. She's often isolated from her own people, and having her new friends and family show her physical touch reminds her that she's less alone.
Terry McGinnis is words of affirmation. Part of this is his regrets for his last conversation with his father being an argument. Part of this is because he isn't really afraid to speak up. He shows his love through his words, and you can easily tell when he's genuine and when he's not, and how he talks to people to show their varying relationships. He likes to let people know he appreciates them, and he wants to make sure that there will never be a repeat of what happened with his dad.
For receiving, I think there's a strong physical touch component. Hugs, hair ruffling, even a steady hand on the shoulder. He wants to feel people's presence.
Jim Gordon is quality time. He's a bit of a workaholic and works a lot of late nights since that's when Batman is active, so when he actually wants to show his love? He's yours. All attention on you. He wants to make sure that nothing interrupts that time.
For receiving, I think that he doesn't actually have a strong preference. He will take love as he can, because he knows each moment is too precious to lose.
Clark Kent is. All of the above? HE JUST HAS LOVE TO SHARE. Clark will show his love however he can and in as many ways as he can. That's part of how he was raised. I think that acts of service is so engrained in who he is, but he's also physically affectionate (even hugging Batman when excited and emotional), genuine and able to discuss emotions, and he likes spending time with the people he cares about. He likes to give people things that remind him of them. He just wants to show that he's thinking of people.
For receiving, much like how he wants to show love in any way he can, he wants to receive love in any way he can. Whatever you're capable of doing, that's what he wants. He tries to meet people where they are when he can, and he'll accept what you give.
Lois Lane is words of affirmation; she’s so snarky and even abrasive at times that her words are how she shows when she really loves you. Even when her words are still a bit sarcastic, it's the tone that'll get you. She'll give you a look, and it'll be soft, and you'll know. She's very deliberate in how she uses words.
For receiving, I think that she enjoys quality time. Being a military child, she moved around a lot, didn't get to spend much time with her dad, and so she likes having someone's undivided attention. Bonus points for cuddling and just being low key.

Just heard about the claim that Hans Christian Andersen used to have a note reading „I’m not dead“ or such attached to his nightshirt whenever he went to bed in a weird history podcast and had to pause to give a good long GODDAMMIT PTERRY.

So, in the book Good Omens Crowley doesn't really like shape shifting. He says "I hate having to do that, I'm always afraid I'll forget how to change back" after changing into something 'dreadful' with maggots to scare a guy who was gonna hit them with a paint ball gun. Now with that information, don't imagine Crowley shape shifting into things because he doesn't care if he forgets how to change back after s2 s6.

AU where Aaravos kept his promise to Claudia and then keeps the gang around for his later plans.
The thought of Aaravos doing something kind for completely self-serving reasons just tickles my mind. I love it when villains do stuff like that. (also poor Claudia was so miserable in the Lost Child -short. she deserves to get spoiled a little.)

Gonna say it's weird to me when people Assume Terry must be deeply traumatized or been rejected/abandoned by his home bc he never ever says that but it's become a weird and uncomfortable fandom standard
Like ppl in the wild talking about Terry being abused or rejected by his home and I'm like WHAT
"Growing up, they thought I was a doe but I knew I was a buck" Is just. Coming out. Paraphrased but come on. Like hey I looked like x but knew I was x. That's all he said
He talks about being from a village in the forest and it isn't hinted that he can't go home. He's like well I'd show you on a map but it's Uncharted lol
Like it frustrates me a bit that trans=Trauma by default to a lot of ppl when tdp hasn't shown any in universe homophobia or transphobia tbh. Like it certainly Can (hello my own life) but ppl making the leap and saying it's canon when it just isn't is. Not correct. And it changes the tone of Terry traveling with Claudia to be like "oh he feels forced to" when frankly it just seems like he loves Claudia and could leave if he wanted but doesn't want to
Can we please just. Not insert violent transphobia where it actually isn't

there's a bathroom in mickey's room -> mickey's room is the master bedroom -> terry must have "allowed" (read: decided) this, and probably framed it as an incredible privilege -> in practice it's actually just a built in lack of privacy for mickey since the bathroom is treated as communal, meaning anyone can go into his room at any time without warning to get to the bathroom inside

A few lil clauderry headcanons bc I'm in a clauderry mood
Earthblood body parts are useful in a specific branch of healing spells (think stabilizing), so when Terry finds stray eyelashes of his or hair trimmings when he cuts his hair, he puts them in a little locket or something for Claudia, just in case she needs it and he's not there. He likes being able to keep her safe, even if it's just indirectly.
When Terry's sad, Claudia will dig out his glasses and put them on and do a goofy voice, pretending to be a doctor and prescribing him lots of kisses and hugs.
They will never agree on how they met. Claudia insists he was all sweet and romantic and heroic, and Terry's like "I was literally just sitting there babe but ok."
Terry sings to plants sometimes, and Claudia just likes to listen to him because she loves his voice. (She thinks he doesn't know, but he does. She's not subtle in her eavesdropping. So he starts doing it more and more.)
They agree that the "love languages" thing is complete bull because they both regularly practice all 5. "Can you IMAGINE only loving your partner in one way? Sounds like a you problem."
Terry paints Claudia's nails. End of discussion.

TERRY MCGINNIS/BATMAN from BATMAN BEYOND (DCAU)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JUSTIFICATION:
"It's the unidentified Future. If the Batman Animated Series happened in ~90s, this is around 2040. Gender has GOT to be a ~little~ more fluid.
But it's also Gotham. Home of mob bosses, evil CEOs, more weird powers than you can shake a Batarang at. It gets in his head that it's "better" to be a "tough guy" than actually be himself.
He's literally friends with All Girls. on-off gf Dana, Max(ine), Chelsea, and Blade (no seriously, her name is Blade).
You can take or leave this last bit since it involves the controversial Justice League Unlimited episode where it's revealed the Terry is actually genetically altered to Be Batman. (it was more about wrapping up Themes about Heroism, since this was meant to be the last part of the DCAU, meant to start and end with Batman but. nuance.) Why wouldn't they go further to ensure that Terry sticks to his assigned gender? I mean. Batman can't be a woman...right?" - Anonymous

Ramblings about the Milkovich Family
I get that they are not the main characters but I wish the show gave us some details.
Is Laura just Mickey and Mandy’s mom or she mom to Iggy and Colin as well? And my stance generally is whatever you want or whatever makes sense for the story I’m writing. But when I see multiple options each choice can change aspects of the story and I wish the show made those choices for me.
For Laura as a character if we see the older brothers as her sons and that informs who she is and the trauma she possibly went through. To have one child at 13 and continued to have more shows how trapped she was. Forced to have multiple children all in her teen years. And from there I can see why she would run away. (honestly I can see why she would run away regardless but 4 vs 2 children is another level of whoa)
But maybe Mandy’s comment was about Mickey and he’s the brother that she had at 13. What does that say about Mickey? What was relationship to her and how does that inform his view on relationships. Watching Ian get in relationships with older men could remind him of his parents which he knows is abusive.
For the siblings ages I know people like to put Iggy as the oldest but that doesn't work if we know from the first season Iggy is in Juvie so he can't be much older then Mickey so I put Colin as the oldest. But maybe Iggy is the oldest but is only a couple months older then Mickey. What if the three brothers do have different mothers and they are only a few months apart? How does that inform the sibling dynamic? That could explain why they don't have a Fiona type in their family because what do you do when you're all the same age and the best way to survive is to just live with each other and not necessarily look out for each other.
This isn't even covering all the other random cousins/siblings that are running around.
Basically sometimes I enjoy thinking about the Milkovich family and making my own assumptions and other times I get overwhelmed and wish the show told us a bit more. Because even a simple choice of making one brother older can actually be very important.
