behold. me coping with session 9 SL!shinyduo
— — —
The crackle of a lightning strike hits at the exact same moment Pearl hears a resounding crack from her neck. After she had been shot by Scar, the impact of the arrow led her to stumble down the ravine beside Scar’s base, leaving her at the bottom of the pit.
Well, at least it was quick.
She finds herself lying on the stone ground, a view of a clear blue sky above her.
The only thing she could do was let herself breathe. (Do ghosts even need to breathe? Eh, who knows.)
Her eyes close as she builds a steady rhythm with the rise and fall of her chest, willing for the aching and exhaustion riddled all throughout her body to somehow dissipate.
Aside from the sound of her breaths, she can pick up Scar’s voice off in the distance. It doesn’t sound much like a cheer, or a cry, or anything— but then again, Pearl’s not in a fit state to focus on whatever he’s saying.
Instead, she tries to think back on everything that just unfolded, all the deaths, the hunts
the duel. The zombie that had been creeping towards Scar before Pearl warned him.
She sighs, “I swear, if he dies to a zombie, after all that
”
Now, she wasn’t really expecting a reply.
Especially not a reply from a voice that’s so familiar.
“I know, right? It’d be embarrassing for both of us.”
Pearl’s eyes snap open in an instant, as though the answer gave her a surge of energy, overpowering the waves of numbing pain.
“
Gem?”
She looks
just like she used to, when they were red
together.
Pearl blinks, trying to focus on the figure looming over her. It’s only then, that she notices Gem’s body is slightly translucent, allowing rays of sunlight to pass through.
“Hey, Pearl.” Gem extends a greeting they both know far too well. She crouches down, tilting her head. “Are you going to keep lying on the ground, or
?”
“I might.” Pearl chuckles. “Itïżœïżœs pretty comfy down here, actually.”
“I can imagine.” Gem shifts to sitting cross-legged next to Pearl, which prompts her to try and actually sit upright as well.
Pearl grunts when she finally manages to move, scooting over to Gem. Sitting underneath the shades of a bit of overhang of the earth above, they find themselves situated in a corner of the ravine, now further ruined with scorch marks and splatters of blood on the walls.
Despite the destruction, sunlight casts shadows of sunflowers into the chasm. It must be the ones Scar has around his base.
Silence follows. Pearl tries her best to stare only at the walls around, but she ends up glancing at Gem a few too many times. She hopes Gem is too preoccupied to notice. (Pretty slim chance of that happening, considering the fact that there’s nothing of interest nearby but them.)
Eventually, though, something in Pearl pushes her to speak.
“So,” Pearl starts, “what’s got you wanting to give me a visit? I thought you’d be with Scott and Impulse.”
Gem jerks up at the sudden question, then turns away from Pearl. “I— I dunno, I just
 We died pretty close to each other, you’re the first one I saw.”
If Pearl’s head had been a bit more clearer, maybe she would’ve questioned why Gem was so insistent on not facing Pearl when she answered. Instead, she accepts the answer with a nonchalant “Ah, I see.”
“Well, I appreciate the company. And
” Pearl adds, pausing as the following words get caught in her throat for a brief second:
“I’m sorry.”
That seemingly got Gem’s attention, causing her to look at Pearl once again.
Just today, Pearl was met with those same pair of eyes on multiple occasions. For some, they sparkled with a sense of joy. For others, they held a flurry of panic behind them.
At this moment, they were glazed with a whirlwind of emotions Pearl couldn’t even begin to decipher.
Pearl can see Gem obviously struggling to find something to say, or to piece together the thoughts in her head. Either way, Pearl waits.
“When you— when Scar was coming for me, you asked me if I wanted to duel it out with you, with swords.”
Pearl nods.
“Why?”
It’s such a simple question, really. Pearl knows exactly why she did it. Just as she knows why she went into the End earlier in the game to fight the dragon, why she rode a camel with the same person who’s killed her twice, why she couldn’t get a successful ambush when she’d been in the siege against Gem and the Scotts.
What leaves her lips is not the answer. Not a clear one, at least.
(It’s never easy, is it? When Scar and Gem had begun fighting, all Pearl wanted was a moment to think. She didn’t know what to do, she didn’t know why she began shooting, she just didn’t know. She couldn’t decide.)
“You said you didn’t want a bow fight.”
“But a sword fight, Pearl?” Gem pushes on in an instant. “I know you, Pearl, I know you prefer using an axe.”
“I do, yeah.” Pearl doesn’t give away any more than that, choosing to give Gem a noncommittal response.
“So— If Scar hadn’t— If I agreed, you—”
“You probably would’ve kicked my butt.” Pearl admits with a smile.
Gem takes a deep breath. Then, in the quietest voice Pearl has heard all day, Gem asks, “And you would’ve been fine with that?”
(I would’ve been more than fine with it.)
“You would’ve beat me fair and square, I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
“But you—” Gem cuts herself off with a groan, growing more and more frustrated with Pearl’s vague replies. It’s no use when they’re both dancing around the topic, even though all Gem wants is to ask: would you have let me kill you? Could we have stayed friends? What went wrong?
Gem recalls Pearl backing away after one swing of her sword, when she was fighting Scar, she caught a glimpse of Pearl leaving the fight to them. She remembers how Pearl could’ve pulled out her bow, could’ve ended her right there.
(Do I forgive you?)
A breeze blows past the Sunflower Valley, leading the flowers above, along with their shadows, into a gentle dance.
Nearly every question Gem has dies on the tip of her tongue, leaving only one:
“What now?”
Pearl gives it some quick pondering, before stretching her legs out and bracing herself to stand. “I wanna check on Mailbox and Matchbox.”
“Then,” She helps herself up by leaning on a wall. “I wanna see if I can find my Mounders anywhere.”
Lastly, she extends a hand out to Gem. “After that
 I think I remember Scott saying something about a spare camel around Etho’s?”
Gem returns the smirk on Pearl’s face with one of her own. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“The Murder Camel rides once more!” Pearl cheers as she pulls Gem up with her.

You Are a Constant ; Always in the Edges, in the Sky, and That Makes Everything
The blonde crow stood for a moment on the dock remembering everything that had happened thus far. Thinking of their home within the wall they slowly made into their sanctuary, he takes a deep breath of the air here and mourns what they had there.
This new start had been jarring but welcome, wiping clean memories of strife but also joy. They had been through hell and heaven together on these shores, and today was the day that marked this old crow finding his purpose once more. Assigned a family and loving them from the start, he was a lucky man.
Here; despite all the terrible things that happened thus far, he found the reason his heart kept beating. In the form of a son who loved to cook and a daughter with a gift for music, in the silhouette of his reaper husband, in the bonds of his friends such as Fit, Cellbit and Etoiles among many other names. Today was the day to celebrate that one year of joy, and he intended to spend it properly.
~~~
A non canon celebration for our lovely QSMP eggs who gave us characters to love. Full of fluff, baked goods, reflecting on the past and embracing the future, told from an old crow's point of view.
I absolutely love Pearl and Gem and couldn't help but write something for them! I hope y'all enjoy. ^^
Characters: Pearl, Gem (Scar is at the beginning very briefly) Relationship: Pearl & Gem Rated: G (has some mild violence and non-graphic death) Genres: Hurt/comfort, angst and fluff (angst with a happy ending) Summary: Normally, Pearl knew Gem wouldn’t be worried about something so inconsequential as a death on a server with normal respawn. Normally, she’d laugh and tease Pearl for her silly miscalculation and probably even punch her shoulder for the fun of it.
Normally, they weren’t both reeling from hours upon hours of betrayal and bloodshed.
Or: Pearl and Gem talk after Secret Life.
Alrighty, some more info about the pokemon AU since I've written like 2K words today.
The main cast will be 3 people. Byakuya and 2 others. I'll reveal the first one rn since he appears in the first chapter. The other one... Well, she'll be kept for later.
But it's Chihiro! If you know me, you know that I love the idea of a Byakuya & Chihiro friendship, so he's here!
His partner pokemon is a Helioptile. And around a week ago, the amazing @seashellcosmos actually drew me a drawing of Byakuya and Chihiro with their pokemon!!!
Tumblr media
This was partly based on me freaking out that Larvesta is a big and heavy bug lol.
But, more info will follow eventually!! In the mean time, you can ask me questions :D
Fanfiction Singalongs: August by Flipturn x TNT duo fanfiction
I wanna start a series where I recommend fanfictions and songs that remind me of them.
This fic is about two friends who've been friends for a very long time, one colossal misunderstanding. This fic is about two messy people getting messy, and getting messed up as a result of it. It sports a gorgeous writing style, paired with very deliberately formatted paragraphs to pack an extra punch. It's sarcastic, adorable, infuriating, and makes you want to drop-kick some sense into the both of them. You feel everything that Quackity is feeling and more, and that is both a blessing and a curse. Albeit long for a one-shot, this fanfiction is definitely worth the read.
I cannot express how much I was blown away by this fanfiction.
Additionally, I cannot listen to this song the same.
This song, I presume, is about two people who've had a shit ton of sexual tension that finally hook up. They do so over the summer, and once the summer is over, their friendship is never the same.
They move on and try their best to never acknowledge it. The singer laments, expressing how they've always loved this person, and how they are looking back on when this person was theirs. And although they've moved on with their lives physically, this person cannot move on emotionally.
"And it sounded so damn good And it tasted just like it should We don't talk about it We don't have the time We thought love was something We weren't meant to find But now you're a stranger And I'm still July But don't you remember August, honey, you were mine."
I'm literally screaming, crying, and shitting my pants over this I cant
Also the acoustic version just goes so much harder?? So yeah, that's the one I'm recommending.
Content warnings:
If smvt in fanfiction is something you're wary of, stay clear. If it's something you enjoy, you'll very much be satisfied with the amount of scenes in this fanfiction. And yet, it is a lot more than the s3x, and that is more than obvious from everything that builds around it. This isn't p0rn with plot. This is plot that uses p0rn as a storytelling tool.
The same thing goes for the substance abuse shown in this fic. Usually, anything that showcases smoking weed, is something I have to immediately click away from. I'm in recovery for addiction, and so mentions of narcotic use is usually something that I'm p sensitive to. However, this fic doesn't harp on the act of getting high. It's only used in detail in one scene, and it doesn't feel like it's glorifying anything. It just feels like it's there. I took the risk and was SO pleasantly surprised, and heavily grateful that I was able to push past the first scene. It's the only scene where they get high.
Everything stays (but it still changes)
Chapter two
Ren is a strange man, to put it lightly.
After that first night, he’s been following Martyn around, which is normal enough: he’s been in groups before, so he understands the “strength in numbers” argument. The strange part is that he keeps wandering off then showing up again covered in blood, with a bag full of meat.
Now, in normal circumstances this might be concerning.
But to be fair, Ren was pretty up-front with his suspicious eating habits. Martyn doesn’t bring it up, but they both know there’s only one way to get red meat around the city these days.
It’s a few days after the night the two first met when they encounter one of the animals in question.
Martyn is sat on a low-hanging branch beside the river, trying to fish with little success, while Ren sits on the ground talking.
“I’m just saying dude, society’s pretty much gone by now; who says I can’t be the king?”
Martyn laughs. “I mean, I’m not gonna stop you. Still not calling you ‘your highness’, though.”
Ren starts to respond, then suddenly goes silent. Martyn glances down and sees him frozen with his head slightly raised, as if sniffing the air. Pulling his legs up, Martyn crouches defensively as he lays a hand on his hatchet.
He can’t immediately tell what Ren spotted, but after a second of tense silence he hears a twig snap. Then with no more warning, something grey darts out from a half-ruined building and barrels into Ren with a shriek.
The man lets out a shout that borders on a snarl as he goes flying backwards into the water. The creature stills, standing on the riverbank and panting heavily, giving Martyn a full view of its grotesque form.
It’s hunched over so far that its head almost touches the floor, bowed under the weight of antlers it wasn’t designed for. What’s left of its hands are planted on either side of its body, curled into fists held shut by a crust of keratin. Its body looks like someone tried to mold a human into the shape of a deer: bones stick out from places they shouldn’t be, a jumbled mess of useless parts; muscles writhe under its skin like maggots, and each of its vertebra sticks out white as pus. It screams again, and now Martyn recognises it as a sound of pain.
Not letting himself overthink any further, he leaps off the branch, hatchet held high. He lands on its back to the sound of cracking bones and snapping sinews, and it jolts as its elbows cave and its chest hits the floor. Martyn’s knees hit the concrete hard, causing him to drop his weapon with a cry. Panicking, he grabs the creature’s neck instead, wincing at the pitiful sound it makes as his fingers sink into the flesh.
The two wrestle for what must be seconds but feels like hours, until the creature throws itself into the air, knocking Martyn off its back. Just in time, he grabs the hatchet and spins to stab it into the thing’s shoulder, knocking it back just as it had been diving for his stomach. It wails but doesn’t falter when it leaps forward again, this time aiming for his neck, jagged teeth bared for Martyn’s viewing pleasure in its open maw.
Its face looks human, he realises. And it does. Its skin is the pale grey of a corpse, and stained with blood, and the nose is all but missing, but the eyes, and the fury in its expression
 they’re painfully human.
And in that moment, he hesitates. If Ren wasn’t there, it would’ve killed him.
But he is, and it doesn’t.
Instead, the monster is knocked out of the air mid-tackle as Ren makes a sound that is definitely a snarl this time; if Martyn didn’t know any better, he’d think he was trying to take a bite out of its neck.
No matter how he does it, by the time Martyn has grabbed his hatchet and turned back to the fight, the monster is dead, and Ren is hunched over the body.
Panting, Martyn lets himself drop to the floor and rolls onto his back. He’s honestly embarrassed by how exhausted he is. Isn’t the apocalypse supposed to make you tougher?
“If you’re gonna eat that, could you at least cook it first?” He jokes, trying his best not to sound like he’s fighting for his life (he fails).
“I’m just catching my breath!” Ren splutters defensively. “I wouldn’t— okay, I might, but
 uh, you okay my dude?”
Martyn holds out a thumbs-up, still breathing heavily, and manages to sit up. “Thank you for the assist, milord,” he says, turning to Ren and trying his best to bow while sat down.
Ren beams. “Yer welcome, laddie,” he says in possibly the worst Scottish accent Martyn has ever heard, surprising a laugh out of him.
Once his heart has mostly slowed down, Martyn clambers to his feet— or at least, he tries to. The moment he’s stood up, his vision swims, and he has to crouch down to stay standing. That is
 not ideal.
“Okay, I’m not blind dude,” Ren says, sounding worried. When did he get that close? “You look like you’re about to pass out.”
Martyn lets himself sink to the floor with a sigh. Ren’s hands hover by his shoulders, ready to catch him if he collapses. “When was the last time you ate?” He asks.
“I dunno, mum,” Martyn replies sarcastically. “Like, last night?” Just the thought of food makes his stomach grumble, which would be mortifying if Ren hadn’t just watched him collapse after very little physical exercise.
“Let me rephrase that,” Ren says, sitting beside him. “When was the last time you ate anything that wasn’t a sardine?”
Martyn scowls in lieu of an answer, telling Ren all he needs to know.
“Martyn, I know what you’re gonna say, and I don’t want to force you into anything, but
” Ren begins, and Martyn already knows where he’s going. “You’ve got to eat something, man. They’re not people anymore.”
Martyn sighs. “I know, I know, but
 I dunno. I can’t really explain it. It just feels so
 gross. Wrong, I guess.” Ren looks like he’s about to protest, but Martyn cuts him off. “I know it’s stupid. Can’t afford to be emotional in the apocalypse, right? I
 I can put my health first.”
Ren looks unsure, but nods. “Good. As long as it’s your decision.” He stands and holds a hand out to Martyn, who takes it tentatively.
He manages to stand up and walk with him into the relative shelter of the building to set up camp early, and if he has to lean on Ren’s side a bit, at least the man has the tact not to mention it.
***
Ren watches Martyn closely as he eats— which, okay, doesn’t sound great. But in his defence, he looked like he was gonna drop dead a few minutes ago.
Thankfully, once the food is cooked, Martyn has no trouble getting it down him. It’s honestly impressive how quickly he eats without fangs.
Martyn looks up to see Ren staring and raises an eyebrow. “You’ve still got blood on your face, y’know.”
Ren spits on his hand and rubs his cheek, then looks down to see his fingers covered in blood. He licks it off without thinking.
“And the other side,” Martyn adds, lip twitching. Ren rubs at his other cheek, and his hand comes away with even more blood. “And aaall over your chin.”
Sighing, Ren stands. “I’ll go wash off in the river.”
It’s getting dark outside, though it’s not sunset yet. Ren looks up to see storm clouds gathering overhead and grimaces. That’s not ideal.
He starts to wash his face in the river, catching his reflection right as he’s about to leave. Jesus, is that seriously what he looks like?! He’s in dire need of a deep clean.
He strips off his clothes and washes them as best as he can, getting most of the dirt and at least a little bit of the blood off. By the time he’s done washing himself, the water runs red. When’s the last time he had a bath? He can’t believe Martyn’s been putting up with him for so long: he must smell terrible. His hair is the worst part: it’s a full-on bird’s nest up there, and he doesn’t even have a hairbrush! Eventually he decides it’s good enough, and wrings out the water until it curls enough to hide his pointed ears. Pulling a face, he puts on his still-wet clothes, opting to leave the shirt open until he dries off.
Martyn raises his eyebrows as he reenters the building (he’s digging into his second steak, but Ren doesn’t comment). “Wow. You look almost presentable!”
Ren twirls to show off his comparatively clean appearance. “I’m glad you noticed!”
He grabs a moth-eaten pillow and lies back on it, hands behind his head. “You checked the other floor for valuables yet?”
Martyn shakes his head as he swallows the last of his food. “Explored this floor a bit, though. Not much left: I think this used to be the living room, and the one next door was the kitchen, but obviously all the furniture is covered in mould and tree roots now. I did however find-“ he pulls a handful of something out of his pocket and tosses them at Ren. “-hair bobbles! For the love of god, please use them.”
“What’s wrong with my hair?!” Ren protests, internally panicking. Wearing his hair down is a huge pain, of course, but it’s the only way he can think to hide his ears. And if Martyn sees his ears, he’ll know his secret. And if Martyn knows his secret—
“I mean it looks fine now, but if you keep it down while we’re going through the woods it’s gonna get all tangled again!” Martyn says, cutting off his thoughts. “Do you really want to keep dealing with that?”
Ren pouts. “I think it looks cool.” (That’s a lie; he likes it better in a plait. This is actually infuriating for him.)
Martyn rolls his eyes. “Can you at least clip it back? It keeps falling into your face.”
“Aww, can’t bear to miss the view?” Ren winks. Martyn tries to stay deadpan, but has to turn his head to hide a laugh. Ten points to Hufflepuff! “I’ll check upstairs to see if there are any hairclips. Just for you, sweetheart.” Ren ends the sentence with finger guns, prompting a full-on cackle from Martyn.
The first floor is also pretty empty, and unfortunately, the beds are unsalvageable. He does find two pillows, though, and the mould is mostly confined to one side. Most importantly, he finds a jar of hair clips by the bathroom sink! They look like they belonged to a young child, which is probably why no one else has scavenged them, but Ren’s not picky. He finds a red one with a little crown charm on it, which he thinks is perfect and makes sure it’s on full display when he puts it in his hair, holding the worst of it back from his face. He also finds a hairbrush, which he doesn’t bring with him due to his lack of a proper bag (he should probably find one soon, now that he’s staying in this form more), but he brushes his still-wet hair until he feels suitably human again.
As he turns to go back downstairs, a crack of thunder almost makes Ren jump out of his skin. It’s almost immediately followed by the sound of torrential rain pouring onto the roof, as suddenly as the flipping of a switch. Fantastic. The ceiling seems relatively solid, but these days, “relatively solid” just means “most of the holes are pretty small”.
He comes down the stairs and tosses a pillow at Martyn, who’s lying on the floor with his hands over his face. Headshot! Martyn sighs, but doesn’t move to push it away. “You doing alright, man?” Ren asks.
“I bloody hate the rain,” comes the muffled reply. Ren snorts.
“It’s not that bad,” he says, lying near him, beside the fire. “It gives us an excuse to stay inside a bit.”
Truthfully, he mostly waits out storms in his wolf form, which isn’t picky about the weather. He remembers, before all this, hating the rain, and the cold, and thunder. Pretty much just extreme weather in general. But he’s not completely human anymore! His wolf form is fine in storms, so it makes sense that his slightly wolfish human form would be at least a little bit better with storms than he had been!
He tugs at his still-damp shirt. It’s beginning to seem rather chilly in this decrepit house. He shifts closer to the fire and pokes it with a stick, wondering if he’ll need to chop off a tree root for extra fuel.
“I mean, I guess it’s fun for a bit,” Martyn sighs. “Unless it lasts more than
 what, a week? Probably less now; I swear it keeps getting shorter.”
Ren frowns and turns his head to see Martyn sitting on the pillow, staring into the fire. “What?”
“Y’know, what with the
 tree roots and all that.”
“I actually don’t know, my dude. I feel like you’re pulling my leg.”
Martyn squints at him, bewildered. “What, have you never tried to join a settlement?”
“No? Like I said, I’m a lone wolf.”
For whatever reason, Martyn doesn’t seem to believe that. “Dude, I’m a lone wolf, and even I’ve joined more than one settlement; you’ve been following me around like a lost puppy since you first met me in the woods the other day!”
Ren opens his mouth to protest, pauses, then snaps it shut, huffing. He’s right, of course, but he doesn’t like feeling so transparent! It’s been, what, a week? No, less than that (it’s been a while since he tried to keep track of time— wolf-Ren isn’t great with numbers). Is he really that bad at lying?
Martyn grins at his reaction, then relents and explains. “I’ve been in two or three encampments since my home was destroyed. The first one I joined pretty much straight away— it used to be a high school, I think— and it lasted a bit over a month before the same thing that happened to everything else-“ He gestures to the roots sticking through the walls and floor. “-started happening to it. We tried to stop it, of course, but it’s like it just made nature angrier: I went to bed one night, while people were lopping off branches and tree roots and reinforcing the walls, and when I woke up there was a tree growing through the dorm. Everyone was gone by the end of that day. There
 wasn’t much reason to stay, was there?” An expression crosses his face that Ren doesn’t have time to identify before it’s gone, and Martyn continues.
“The next settlement was a few weeks later, in an apartment building. I wasn’t there when it formed, so I don’t know how long it lasted exactly, but it was definitely shorter. Same thing happened, about a week after I joined. They were more prepared this time, since a few of us had come there from other settlements that had gone down, but it didn’t help. By the time I left
 it wasn’t much of a settlement anymore, but they were still trying to make it work. They spent all day doing nothing but chop branches and mend buildings, and I just didn’t feel like it was worth the effort, so I just. Left.
“The last one I joined was more of an experiment than a settlement: word had gotten around by now about what happens to buildings that people try to settle down in, so they thought ‘oh, what if we start a society without buildings?’, and for some reason everyone including myself thought that was a good idea. Long story short: it didn’t work, so I left.
“I tried a few times after that to stick to one building, make a home for myself, on my own. Needless to say, it never lasted long. You can probably guess what happened.
“I’ve heard from down the grapevine that people have entirely given up on restoring society at this point, and every time someone tries it falls apart faster. I think the last one I heard about lasted around a week.”
There’s silence in the room then, as Ren takes in everything he said. The sound of rain and the steady drip of water from various leaks is all that can be heard. Then Martyn slaps his thighs suddenly, startling the brunet out of his thoughts. “Right! That was depressing! I’m going to bed.”
Ren wants to stop him, to say something reassuring, but he can’t find the words. His skills that he’d been so proud of before the world ended have withered away more than he’d thought.
“Goodnight,” is all he says as Martyn pulls out his blanket, reminding Ren how extremely cold it is. He scoots closer to the fire.
Martyn lies down with his back to Ren, leaving him alone with the rain and thunder and howling wind. He tries to pull his shirt tighter around himself, though it’s not dry yet and doesn’t help much.
He’d never heard anything about people forming settlements since society collapsed. Honestly the thought never occurred to him. How did the thought never occur to him?
He knows how. It’s the same reason no one told him about the settlements.
It’s not that he’s never in human form! It’s just
 these days, when people are few and far between, and the only thing he can eat makes him nauseous if he thinks about it too hard, it’s easier to be a dumb animal. Wolf-Ren doesn’t miss being around people, or feel guilty about doing what he has to to survive. He’s still aware of his emotions in that form, but it’s like they’re dulled: all that matters to the wolf is survival, and if it doesn’t help him survive, it doesn’t matter. And maybe he’s been abusing that a little bit these past few months. When’s the last time he talked to a human, before Martyn? The days blend together when he’s a wolf.
Is being human even worth it?
This isn’t the first time he’s had this argument with himself, but it’s different now. Now he’s got something to lose. If he stays with Martyn, he risks being found out, and
 not dying, no. Martyn wouldn’t kill him. But being abandoned might hurt more. He can’t stand the thought of Martyn being afraid of him.
But what about the other option? What if he left right now, before he got too attached? Turned into a wolf and never turned back? Well, he probably couldn’t stay a wolf forever, but he means it in the metaphorical sense. What if he abandoned humanity forever? Surviving would be a lot easier, but
“Hey, Ren?” Martyn’s voice is drowsy.
Ren jolts. He looks over to see Martyn awake and on his side, facing him. “Yeah?”
“I don’t think I thanked you properly, for saving my life earlier. Thank you. Seriously.”
Ren doesn’t know how to answer that. “I- it’s nothing. Don’t mention it.”
There’s a pause before Martyn replies. When he does, it’s barely above a whisper. “I’m glad you’re here. Travelling with me, I mean. It was
 quieter. Before you came.”
but he wouldn’t have Martyn, he finishes.
Maybe that’s reason enough to stay.
Jimmy has a hard time remembering things.
He knows he wasn’t always this small. He knows he wasn’t always in a cage. He knows he used to have a family.
But specifics are harder to come by, and they seem to fade with every day that Jimmy spends trapped. He tries to remember what the sky looked like. He knows it was blue, but he’s not sure he knows which color is blue. There’s not much more down here in the mines than the greys of the rocks around him and the red of his miner’s torch.
Jimmy lets out a small chirp.
He used to be louder, nosier, but he can’t muster the energy anymore. It’s too cold and dark and damp down here, and there's been this strange smell that hurts Jimmy’s head and makes it hard for him to see straight.
He watches as his miner digs into stone. His miner mutters and swears as he works. He’s never seemed to be content with anything.
As the miner continues to fiddle around, Jimmy’s headache becomes more pronounced. He lets out another soft chirp, sagging against the metal bars of his cage. He feels the tension leaving his body as he goes limp. He tries to stay upright, but something saps at his energy. He loses his grip on his perch and falls down to the bottom of his cage.
Pain bursts out along his wing, but he can hardly process it. He stares up at the cave roof, not really focusing on anything. The smell has gotten more intense, and it’s making Jimmy’s head spin.
His eyesight begins to go fuzzy. He tries to turn his head, to let out some sort of warning for his miner, but there’s something that feels too heavy and constricting on his lungs and he can’t make a sound.
When he focuses back up at the ceiling, he thinks he can vaguely remember what it’s like to see blue. He can feel the wind in his wings and the he can smell fresh air. He feels like he’s flying - soaring once more, without the restriction of his cage and the suffocating closeness of the cavern walls.
He’s flying, and everything goes dark.
Where Jimmy is a hybrid trapped in his canary form, and Tango is the one to find him and free him.
it's holding me close, it loves me the most, it's tearing the sutures
Part 1/?
Essempi Capital - 6 miles
Essempi-Sparklez Border - 47 miles
The words seem to burn himself into his mind. Techno sighs, a sharp huff of air that's laced with annoyance, and thinks.
He can hear Phil laughing at him already, teasing him for thinking he could go alone when Phil was the living compass of the two of them, and Techno’s sense of direction was oftentimes muddled. He's not even wrong. Techno should know better, should have waited. But Phil had business to attend to with his girlfriend - patron - and Techno felt the buzz of impatience and the need to go, go, go.
So he went. And now he's here, where he's not supposed to be. They agreed to meet up in the Sparklez Court, but Techno took the wrong road some miles back and ended up in Essempi territory.
It would take hours to just get to the border, and night is falling, heralding the emergence of monsters. Already, fireflies are dancing around Techno’s feet.
He has to make a choice.
It's not much of a choice at all, truly. He can still reach the capital before dawn. The city is always safer than the middle of the forest - the light and city walls keep the monsters at bay. Phil might worry, but he knows enough to realize that delays are inevitable. Techno could sleep in a warm bed for one night and then meet Phil the next afternoon, and they could laugh over Technos mishap and move on to their next adventure. This is nothing more than a detour.
But
 There's a sense of unease that Techno can't shake. A foreboding sense of approaching danger. And he knows his instincts well enough by now to at least let them say their piece.
He's heard stories of Essempi. Of the people, of their strangeness, of how they walk with furtive glances, cradling their wrists close. Their wrist that exposes for all to see the number of Lives they have left. Instead of respawning upon death, they are restricted to three Canon Lives, that get chipped away from one by one before they dissolve to dust. It makes them nervous and easily frightened, as by most standards they are perpetually close to death.
But, more than the people, he's heard of the king. King Dream of the Essempi, known for his mask and his peculiar branch of rumored madness. Known for the wrist that he bares so boastfully, that still is lined with three red hearts. Everyone in Essempi has lost at least one heart by the age of twenty. Everyone but Dream.
He's a dangerous man. His prowess with a blade is renowned the world over. His erratic behavior and slanted morals even more so. Walking into the capital feels like walking into the lion’s den. Feels like foolishness incarnate.
Techno shakes his head, making himself pull out of the daydream. He is just a traveler passing through. Not even a citizen of Essempi. There’s no reason for Dream to remotely care about him. No reason for him to see Dream at all.
But what if
No. Techno will simply walk away. Dream will stay in his castle, and Techno will remain unnoticed and unremarkable. Just the way he prefers it.
The trees are laced with twilight shadows. Techno hefts his bag back on his shoulder, and takes the rightmost path - towards the capital.
(He doesn't know that he’ll never get to meet Phil after all)
~=~
Dirt turns to gravel, turns to stone. Essempi is rich, and it shows with the lanterns that line the main road, with the glowstone under Techno’s feet, keeping the monsters at bay. Still, he can hear zombies growling on the outskirts, where the light does not touch, and it makes his footsteps hasten. The zombies don't scare him - they can't reach him. The skeletons that could be hiding in the shadows, bows at the ready, are more of a threat.
The trees tower above him, a dark wall against the soft glow of the path. He rounds a bend in the road, and the trees abruptly clear from his vision. Finally allowing him to see the city.
(It's enough to give him pause, for all that he's in a hurry)
The city wall is immense . It's lined with glowstone and torches, fire and stone lining the parapets, towering over him like a giant in technicolor. It glows and burns and blazes, the top of the wall cutting into the night sky like an aurora. It's the most beautiful wall Techno has ever seen, and it takes his breath away.
But he still has a sense for danger, still has that instinct. And his instincts warn him, purring under his skin: think of how hard it would be to leave . Think of the gates closing in on you, locking you inside. Think of the guards you see lining the drawbridge. Think of the drawbridge being lifted. Think -
He brushes the irrational fears aside. Techno has never been one to give up halfway. And yet, the unease lingers, dogging his every footstep down the glowing path.
~=~
“Room for one?”
The innkeeper doesn't say a word in response. She merely reaches behind herself for a room key, pushes it across the counter towards him, holds out a hand for the fee. Her left wrist is bandaged, he sees. Likely to hide her Life Mark. It's private, among those of the Essempi - not only because it's deeply personal, but also because it gives others ammunition.
He can appreciate the practicality. He still wants to leave, however.
Just until morning. You only have to stay until morning.
Even the counter is made with glowstone, he realizes.
He drops the gold coins into her hand, one by one. He takes his key, nods towards her. She does not reciprocate, just watches him with glittering eyes as he ascends the stairs to his room. It makes his skin crawl. Just until morning, he reminds himself. Just until morning.
He shuts the door behind himself just a little too harshly. It makes dust fall from the ceiling, makes his nose wrinkle. The room is musty and dusty, but there's no cockroaches or spiderwebs so he supposes he can't ask for too much.
On a whim, he tests the mattress, pressing down. It's slightly less hard than rock. A win.
Exhaustion weighs on his bones, heavy and sudden. He puts his bag in a corner and collapses onto the mattress with a groan. It's not long before he falls into a deep, deep sleep.
The clock on the wall ticks, tocks, and waits for morning.
Happy 1 year to the event that inspired this fic!
The Wise Crow Has Been Fooled (A Cage for a Cage)
✹q!Philza & Chayanne & Tallulah, q!Philza & q!Tubbo & q!Fit & q!Etoiles ✹7.4k W.C. ✹q!Philza-centric ✹QSMP Non Canon Tale ✹The Call by League of Legends, 2WEI, Louis Leibfried, Edda Hayes
"Crows remember human faces. They remember the people who feed them, who are kind to them. And the people who wrong them too. They don't forget. They tell each other who to look after and also who to watch out for."
~~~
The next few hours were long ones. Fit and Tubbo explain about how the eggs awoke that last day they were seen dirty and potentially more cracked. Chayanne was barely himself, withdrawn and paranoid. Demanding complete protection over Tallulah at all times due to her easy loss of breath, Fit reckoned something had to have spooked them but none could remember what. Perhaps something so terrifying their own mind protected them from it, locking it behind walls of forgetfulness.
Tubbo spoke with guilt heavy upon his brow, unable to meet Phil’s eyes despite the crow repeatedly reassuring Tubbo he was sure the young man had done his best. Phil didn’t like the guilt, but he despised it less than the scared one the teen used to give him in the server prior. Eventually he pulled Tubbo in for a close hug until the boy finally calmed down, resting his head on top of the brunette's hair which melted to platinum blonde near the ends. Like coffee giving way to sunshine, a tint that reminded the old soul of an obnoxious curly-haired blonde teen he found himself missing more and more.
“Let’s cause a little chaos.” Phil pulls back from the hug, a playful mirth returning to Tubbo’s expression and Fit looking intrigued.
“What flavour, my friend?” Fit’s rich voice surrounded the crow, immediately casting his lot in with the blonde.
“I am so in.” Tubbo cracks his knuckles, also grinning.
“Molten rock over influential locations.”
“My favourite.” Fit nods immediately, Tubbo rushing off to find a bucket of lava before they teleport up to Phil’s home.
Standing at the edge of the stone wall, the ivory tower gleamed in the midday sun. A wide smile upon his face now, he mumbles to only himself. “It always comes back to grandiose shows of power, eh, Techno?”

A Boar? In This Economy? Pt. 3

You thought that the interaction you had with the boys would be enough to satiate you for a long while.
Well you were wrong.
Because now all you wanted to do was go into Mondstadt and see everyone.
There was one thing holding you back, however

And that was wondering where the story was.
Now, you unironically had been getting “vIsIoNs Of ThE fUtUrE”, or rather the updates and current story as it continued in your world.
Your world

Shaking off the slight homesickness, continued on your mission. Finding out where ever which ever sibling was in the story.
What you weren’t expecting however was to watch a Paimon being fished out by a hungry looking Aether.
Oh Gods.
Oh Fuck.
THE STORY HASN’T EVEN STARTED????
This is new, considering that in nearly every fic about the SAGAU the story was up to the current update or it had stopped all together.

 Did you mention that you were a vivid reader of fanfiction? And player of Genshin? Because you were.
Tiptoeing backwards, you suddenly hear the shrill voice of a certain fairy
 as in fairly large pain in your ass-
“Oh! If you’re really hungry you should go hunt that boar right there! I’ve never seen a painted one though
”
OH SHIT OH FUCK-
You ran away before the blonde could even turn around, hearing Paimon’s voice call out for you to stand still. No you weren’t gonna stand still!
You continued to run, cursing yourself out in your head for being noticed.
You were happy where you were! With your family! You already interacted with Mondstadt in the form of Razor and Bennet, that was enough!
You rushed deeper and deeper into the forest, stopping when you noticed your family ahead. Trotting before them, you laid down in front of the fire.
Ever since finding you, they refused to eat boar meat, switching to fox and bird so you wouldn’t have to sit and watch them cook something that looked like you, which was nice.
Right now they were roasting a bird over the fire, spices filling your nose as you curled up around it. Another change was the increase of Mita and Lawa and samachurls at the camp. Two of each element for each type of churl to protect the camp, and you.
This was also true for other mobs. Slimes and Whopperflowers, anything else in the immediate area. The number was upped.
And with your heightened heart rate?
The number only went up.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ïżœïżœÊš ê’°ââââàšđŸ°đŸŠđŸ«à§ââââê’± ɞ˚
By now, Aether and the small girl he had come to find was named Paimon had already cleared out a Hilichurl camp with the Outrider of Mondstadt, Amber.
Wiping sweat off her forehead, she turned to the duo.
“For some reason, the number of Hilichurl camps has been growing rapidly in the past year, even more so than before. Your help is immensely appreciated!” She said, sighing.
Aether only stood by before speaking up.
“Have you seen a painted boar around here?” He questioned.
“Oh! Yeah! The Boar of the Wilds! Yeah, quite the trouble maker they are. They’re a weird boar too, sticking around Hilichurls and the such. But they help the kids so we don’t see them as too much of a threat. Why?” Amber smiled as she turned around to face the Traveler, who was glaring at a now heavily sweating Paimon.
“No reason
” He said through grit teeth, making Paimon shake and mutter something about ‘not knowing’ or something of the sort.
“Well anyway, let’s get you into the city Traveler!”
And with that, the trio continued on their walk, unaware of the slime watching them.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ꒰⁐⁐⁐⁐୚đŸȘđŸźđŸ§à§ââââê’± ɞ˚
So you really are at the start of the story.
You paced around the fire as your family watched sitting cross legged.
You had two options:
1. Travel with Aether and see all 7 nations.
Or
2. Stay where you are and live with your family till the story ends.
Your first instinct was, of course, to stay with your family. You had built a life here, no matter how crude.
Your family cared for you and you them. These specific mobs were going to live on in your heart and you’d be damned if you’d leave them. Because if you did, the odds of travelers and others of that nature might find them and

Well you didn’t want to think of what’d happen.
You shook you head and snorted, pacing faster. You ignored the worried cries of those around you as you continued to think.
Now that the story started, that meant that shit was about the hit the fan.
You had noticed a lack of Divalin, and more windstorms. With how happy things had been, you tired to ignore it.
Ignore the signs.
But a small voice in the background of your head had told you.
It told you that the story had started. That you’d have to do something.
But if you did you’d mess up the whole story, and then you wouldn’t be able to predict what happens next and you’d loose all sense of control you felt you’d had.
The abyss.
You glanced back at your family.
One thing you made sure of was that there were no Abyss Mages around. Without them, your family was more than docile around humans, not truly seeing a reason to hurt them without cause.
When they would try to reverse the curse
 if you left your family

 You rammed into a tree.
Small screams erupted from them as the tree tilted over and fell, the top splintered from the bottom where you rammed it. Letting out a loud squeal, you rammed into another.
Why was this so difficult??
On the one hand, with your knowledge you could probably make so many lives better and easier!
But on the other, after you help one, it could cause a ripple effect and make you loose your grasp on what was happening, leaving you unable to help.
And with cautious you were, you didn’t even know if you’d come back if you’d die!
Would you be willing to die for these people?
Another tree fell.
You’d die easier than a human, what happens if you die.
What happens if you’re forced to leave your family?!
You rammed another tree.
Your breathing quickened and your eyes started to water.
The wind began to pick up.
When your hooves made contact with the ground, the earth rumbled.
You could no longer hear the shouts and cries of those around you.
What would happen when you died?
Would your blood be gold?
More trees fell.
Your eyes were blurred with tears.
You were barreling through the Forrest at this point, mind of every type crying out to you.
Crying out for you to stop.
You didn’t want to die.
But others would die for you.
You could stop so much.

 You could’ve stopped so much.
When the thought hit that while you’ve been messing around for just over a year, people were getting hurt, you ran faster, and hit harder.
The wind whipped harder. When you looked up you noticed Stormterror and Aether fighting above the city.
Had you been so caught up in your own stupid emotions that you failed to notice the city closest to you was under attack?!
How fucking STUPID could you be?!?!
You rammed harshly into a large tree, being stopped by both the winds of Teyvat and the sheer thickness of the tree.
Shaking your head you looked up.

 The Symbol of Mondstadt’s Hero.
You had ran all the way to Windrise.
Hiccups forced their way out of snout and tears poured out of your eyes.
You sobbed.
Everything was blurry and your ears were ringing. You were tired of thinking.
You barely registered the Pyro Samachurl laying a churl blanket around your back while warming it.
More and more mobs surrounded your sobbing form and slowly cuddled around you. Warming you.
And eventually, you fell asleep under the large and warm pile of Hilichurls, Mitachurls, Lawachurls, Samachurls, Slimes, Whopperflowers, other boars, foxes, and birds.
You were safe. You were loved.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ê’°ââââàšđŸ°đŸ§đŸźà§ââââê’± ɞ˚
“You have to check it out! I understand that the main issue is The Stormterror, but Miss. Jean! It’s a large pile of monsters and animals! This could pose a great threat!”
The distressed traveler continued to rant at the Acting Grand Master, causing her to sigh.
Everything lately had been so stressful, even with the help of the Blonde Traveler. Currently they were with Lisa at The Temple of the Lion.
She genuinely, truly didn’t want to ask them to help with this.
So she decided to check it out on her own.
Standing from her desk, she walked around to shake the hand of the now silent traveler.
“Don’t worry. I’ll check it out and do what I can to help in the situation.”
She was met with many thanks from them as they shook her hand up and down with vigor.
Lord Barbatos she was tired

Making sure she was all ready to go and had her trusty Aquila Favonia, and headed out.
Nodding at everyone she passed, she quickly made her way out of the city and towards the place of interest.
The place said to be the historical ground of her hero, Vanessa’s ascension to Celestia.
The Symbol of Mondstadt’s Hero, Windrise.
Running her way over, it was very apparent that the Traveler was not kidding. She could see the large multicolored blob from where she was, though it wasn’t moving.
The thing had just recently appeared, but that didn’t change the fact that this was still dangerous.
Creeping towards the pile, she was met with the cacophonous sound of snores from monster and animal alike.
And she was now confused.
Never in Jean’s life had she ever seen a fox curled around a Sawachurl. Or a bird sleeping peacefully on a Lawachurl. Or boars cuddled up with Mita and Hilichurls.
Wait.
Boars cuddled up with
 oh.
Sighing she readied her sword to attack and find where that boar was under all this, before a Frostarm Lawachurl shook itself awake. The sudden movement startled her and she was met with the blank carved eyes of its mask boring into hers.
The two stared for a bit, before it huffed and laid back down, cuddling into a Blazing Axe Mitachurl who was
 well
 cuddling it’s still-red-but-put-out axe.
Jean was bewildered at the interaction, standing from her attack position. Looking more, she took a risk.
She stepped forward.
She was met with whirrling of a Ruin Guard starting up.
If what she was thinking was true, then why was anything of Ruin here?! The boar hadn’t been known to wander into any of the shrines or otherwise where they may have been found!
She was met with a Guard turning to her. Again she readied for an attack.
Only to be met with small ‘beeps’ and ‘boops’.
It, like the Lawachurl only glanced at her, before lying back down.
Okay, what was going on?!
Now she just decided to walk through the large crowd, though through is a strong word. On was more like it.
And as she got closer to the large Oak tree, she noticed the dip right at its trunk. The pile only got larger, and when she got to the trunk, there was a large divet. Jumping down, she was met with the culprit she thought she’d meet.
The boar.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ê’°ââââàšđŸŹđŸ§đŸŠà§ââââê’± ɞ˚
Being shaken awake was not what you wanted right now.
Groaning and huffing, you tired to push the hand off, only causing it or come back and push harder.
You continued to shove it off until it finally stopped. You sighed in relief and snuggled back into the warmth around you, falling back asleep.
At least, until you heard the scared cries of a Sawachurl.
Cracking your eyes open you immediately notice an angered(??) Jean standing over you and a Pyro Sawachurl. And she was directing that anger(???) towards the small churl.
Oh. Hell. No.
Jumping up you lightly but into her. Though your ‘light but’ sent her crashing into the large wall of bodies behind her.
Which started to wake up the large pile.
Animals and monsters grunted and groaned as Jean stood in shock at the ripple effect of your actions.
You were just watching a fox climb up the tree in interest.
The whole pile had woken up, standing confused at you and the only human. Jean was noticeable tense.
Shaking off the blanket, you snorted, grunted and oinked into the crowd. And after a moment, they began to disperse, much to Jean’s amazement.
“How did you
 anyway. You can’t do
 this anymore, alright? I don’t understand how you got these monsters and otherwise to not attack humans but I’ll have you know that you gave passing travelers quite the scare. You understand, right?” Jean asked.
You stood and gently nodded, still tired and slightly overwhelmed by past thoughts.
She sighed and made a decision.
Walking behind you - making you look at her with interest - she wrapped her hands around your midsection and picked you up, causing you to struggle.
Your distressed squeals filled the air as she began to explain. “I just - ngh - need to keep an eye on - hey watch it! - keep an eye on you - ow!” Her words were interrupted by your squirming and moving in her arms, but at her words you slowed.

 Right. The Stormterror situation.
She looked down with concern when she noticed you no longer struggling - she was expecting a fight the whole way - and was startled by the far off look in your eye.
Sucking it up, she began to carry you back to The Knights of Favonius Headquarters.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ê’°ââââàšđŸ©đŸŹđŸšà§ââââê’± ɞ˚
Seeing you in the office was not what Kaeya was expecting.
Having never met you personally but hearing stories around the city, seeing you in Jeans office sat beside her desk was a surreal experience.
The only reason he was here and not waiting for the Traveler was because he had been told the Jean had left, and with Lisa also not there, he was in charge for the moment.
Was he just a bit pissy that he was the only asked after they realized Lisa was gone?

 No comment.
But by the time he got back it didn’t matter because Jean and
 you were already there.
He barely got a word in anyway because the door swung open with the Librarian and Traveler in tow.
“We’re back!~” Called Lisa. Aether stood behind her, red in the face. Kaeya wasn’t shocked with how
 sultry she could be.
She was definitely an acquired taste, that was for sure.
But the moment of peace was broken by your loud squeals and oinks of distress, and the blue-coded man noticed you were looking at their new blonde friend.
And when you got up to start running, he made a split second decision.
He dove for you.
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ê’°ââââàšđŸŻđŸĄđŸ«à§ââââê’± ɞ˚
A sharp crack was heard when your hoof made contact with Kaeya’s face.
You stood startled for a moment, before making eye contact with Aether again and panicking all over again.
You hadn’t made your decision!
You thought you’d at least get until he finished the Main Story Quest to make your decision!
Your panicking and running form was confined to the room as Jean commanded the doors be shut and locked from the outside.
This choice was made clear after you made a b-line for the door and rammed into it. You stumbled a bit for a second before running around again.
Using any kind of Vision or otherwise was immediately out of the picture due to the confined space and bunches of important documents and books in the vicinity.
Jean also tried to make a grab out you, which worked for a second
 until you infused your body with Electro, shocking the shit out of her.
Now they had no clue what to do.
Well wait
 nevermind.
Trying to coral you was the best bet.
And that’s what they did. But that just made you more wild.
Didn’t they ever hear the saying “A cornered animal will fight twice as hard.”?
Because that’s exactly what happened.
You rammed into walls and windows, no longer squealing but screaming.
It sounded sickeningly human to them.
You rammed past them and into the desk, causing a sharp letter opener to fall onto you.
Slicing your skin and making you bleed.
Gold.
It shined as you collapsed to the floor. Shaking and crying. Tired and hungry.
Those who were awake - you knocked out Kaeya - stood in shock as you continued to cry.
Lisa silently traced the paint on your fur. It’s swirling patters that, now that she saw them and was analyzing them anyway, looked like the patterns that lined the statues of their Creator.
Jean finally thought about your odd relationship with the creatures of Teyvat. How they listened to you and became docile in your presence. How they payed attention to only you and never harmed humans when around you. You calmed them. Like the Creator.
Paimon - who watched the ordeal from a corner in fear - put together how the fauna blocked Aether from reaching you and how the wind seemed to boost you away from the duo. How Teyvat seemed to help you. Much like it would the creator.
Jean and Lisa turned to each other. They just thought you had a weird mutation or something of the sort! Maybe even a vision! Would be the first time an animal got given a vision but that’s what they chalked it up to!
But this
 they thought of who they thought was the Creator who was sitting on their throne right now, enjoying the finer things in life.
They were
 lying?
The person they had been worshipping for.. years now.. was FUCKING LYING?!?!
Jean dropped to her knees and Lisa shook.
A whispered murmur left Paimon’s lips which startled Aether.
“The Creator
”
à«źê’°ă„Ë¶â€ą àŒ â€ąË¶ê’±ă„ ˚ʚ ê’°ââââàšđŸ°đŸ©đŸŻà§ââââê’± ɞ˚
Waking up in the med bay of The Knights of Favonius Headquarters was not what you were expecting.
A bandage was wrapped around your midsection and a guard was stationed at your door.
The most shocking thing however, was that every Vision Holder in Mondstadt - including the Traveler - was in your room.
Even Albedo and Eula.
Shaking and coughing alerted them to your now awake status. Those who were seated now stood.
You noted the bandage on Kaeya’s chin and felt bad.
Though that quickly turned to confusion when everyone - again, including Aether - bowed.
Then that confusion turned to fear as they spoke in unison.
“Our humblest greetings, O’ great Creator.”

Shit.

Tumblr media
Words from the author;
Hi guys. Went on a long train ride and decided to write this. Agatha’s show inspired me. The joy she gives me is unmatched. I want to ask that we all use are imagination and pretend WestView was a thing longer than the few weeks it was, as to give an explanation and a sense of realism to Readers and Agatha’s whole romance and love story. I also ask that we ignore the additional emotional scarring that would’ve given the town. Thanks a bunch! Now

Enjoy!
—
Agatha had a plan. A plan that hadn’t, and was never supposed to include you. It had everything to do with Wanda, and Wanda, it turns out, had everything to do with you.
That part of it hadn’t mattered. Yeah, Agatha had originally only been prepared to deal with one Avenger, and you coming in would prove to make things more complicated, but she was sure she could handle it.
And she had, of course. Until
until she developed a relationship with you and emotions towards you that went beyond the limits of what she had planned. Not just plannned for this little mission of hers, but planned for her life—after how her last relationship ended.
She loves you. Wanda’s Maximoff’s best friend. The one that’s been keeping Wanda from going even more off into the dark end. The one that’s been interfering with Agatha’s plans by trying to pull Wanda out of the Hex before Agatha has delved deeper into the amount of magic needed to create it.
You. Infuriating— you. Since the moment she met you it was like you had seen through all of Agatha’s facades. Not just the Agnes one.
She made a point—a stupid emotional driven point—to be honest with you, and only you, from the beginning. The thing is
 though she had even told you about her interest in Wanda, and the hex, she had left out her plans of draining Wanda of her powers and killing her.
Which is probably an important thing to mention

Which is definitely an important thing to mention. As much as Agatha hates to admit it— and she absolutely hates to admit it— it’s been eating away at her.
More than she doesn’t want to lose you, she doesn’t want to hurt you. Well, that’s not completely true
she’d rather not lose you
but it’s a close competition.
This relationship with you was supposed to be fake, but her heart doesn’t seem capable of understanding that. She’s been pulling away from you, acting distant, avoidant, and just as it’s been hard on you—it’s been hard on her.
She can’t imagine a world without you in it, but she needs this power
needs to see if it’s capable of—ahem, anyways— she just needs it. She’s sure you need Wanda similarly. That you can’t imagine a world without her. That’s what the gossip magazines, twitter posts, or even tumblr fanfictions want to guilt Agatha into believing at least.
She’s bitter, hates with a burning passion how much the world likes to advertise you and Wanda as this amazing duo pair, hates even more how unknowing fans like to speculate on some sort of secret affair you’re helping Wanda commit, but she’s willing to admit to some truth in it;
Agatha’s supposed to be very fake relationship, used at first to only get close to Wanda—to learn and kill her—has turned into a real one, and the very person she’s in love with is Wanda Maximoff’s platonic soulmate.
The guilt,and thus; avoidance and emotional distance doesn’t take long to be noticed by you. It all comes to a head rather viciously in a way Agatha had expected.
Which is to say; all the avoidance has led to a rather ceremonious break up
.she hadn’t had the guts to do it, so she’s sort of forced you into it. That’s what you believe, and it is the truth. Not in the way she guesses you expect though.
Agatha doesn’t want to do this. She really struggles doing things she doesn’t want to do.
She has to do this though. It’s what she’s convinced herself of.
It aches.
“If that’s what you want, okay. Now If that’s really all you had to say
” Agatha hints, turning to make her tea so you can’t see the way her eyes water and betray her, “well have a safe trip home, and don’t forget your things dear.”
“I am not going to beg you to want me.”
Agatha’s jaw tenses. Her heart feeling heavier than anything she’s ever carried. She wants to scream, to break all of the windows in the room. Wants to say, desperately; I have never not wanted you. I have never wanted to be worthy of anything more.
You’re good. Good in way Agatha’s never been capable of. You’re nothing she expected, but everything she’s wanted, and it hurts more, somehow, like this.
Because she can’t give you everything you want, and as that fact kills you, it kills her too.
Agatha glances over her shoulder and looks at you. Your eyes are brimming with tears, you’re shaking with emotion. With the urge to fight. There is a large part of you, Agatha guesses, that knows Agatha doesn’t want this. Conscious or not. She turns away again.
“I know that’s what you want, for me to beg, but I won’t, not anymore. I can’t,” you whisper.
“Then don’t,” she growls, and then winces because even as she’s turned away she can picture the way you wince. The way you hurt.
All Agatha wants to do is protect you, but it’s like no matter what she does you’ll end up hurt. She’s been pulling away slowly so that when she ends up betraying you to kill Wanda, hopefully it’ll hurt less. All it seems to be doing though is prolonging the pain for the both of you. It’s clear to the both of you the war that’s happening in each of you. The want to fight for this. It’s what makes this worse.
“Don’t”, you repeat with a scoff. Agatha hears it right next to her ear and startles, turning around sharply.
You’re standing right behind her, looking down at her with fiery eyes. Agatha moves to use her magic, but you grab her wrist to stop the thought. It makes her heart skip a beat. Makes her smirk.
She loves you. Loves you always, and wants you just as much when you look at her like you are now. You must sense it because you immediately let go of her wrist, with a look of confusion.
“Do you want me or not?” You ask harshly. And despite herself Agatha can’t help the small flicker of annoyance that crosses her face. Annoyance directed at herself.
She masks it a second later with a smirk, gripping your chin. “Of course I do,” Agatha purrs, her voice dripping with seduction. You tense. Eyeing her with complete betrayal.
When Agatha had imagined the moment in which she betrayed you (and she had imagined it a lot), it hadn’t gone like this. It had gone with her standing over the Scarlet Witch, your best friend, and you frozen a couple feet away.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this, but it’s better this way. For you to realize who she is now, rather than later. She needs Wanda’s abilities, and she’ll do anything to get it. She thinks it to herself, and it’s almost like a reminder. ‘She’ll do anything to get it.’
You hold her wrist so gently though, even as your eyes blaze with all type of hurt, and Agatha feels deeply who she’s hurting. She’s hurting you. Her love. Her heart. “My heart,” Agatha says gently, and to you she imagines it’s a stab in the heart from the way you wince. Agatha’s face drops further. “I want you,” she admits, despite herself, finding herself not capable of hurting you like this.
“Then why
?”
Agatha kisses you suddenly on the corner of the mouth. Gently. Perhaps she shouldn’t have let her mask drop, because now it seems impossible to put back on. It feels real the moment she stops playing pretend
what a surprise. Still, she herself feels vulnerable. Like a puppy just waiting to get kicked. As she feels both her and your despair she feels a wave of self loathing too.
“Down the road Wanda’s going down now she will hurt you. Down the road I’m doing down, I will too.” Agatha whispers, tucking your hair behind your ear. “When I told you I was going to take her power, I meant I was going to kill her, baby.”
Agatha doesn’t expect the laugh you release at that, but more than that she doesn’t expect the simple way you leave. Her hand hands in the air where you once were, as if she had dreamed the memory of you.
It wasn’t supposed to go like this.
—-
It wasn’t supposed to go like this. Couldn’t have gone any worse. Every expectation Agatha has—every time she thinks she can predict what will happen you manage to change everything.
That blast was for Wanda, but you had jumped in front of it like it was your plan from the start. It stops both her and Wanda instantly. The blast would have sent you flying into the house, but Agatha had reacted quickly enough with her magic to prevent the collision. Still, as soon she drops the magic holding you, and begins running towards you, you fall.
Agatha sees it a slow motion but she knows it happens much faster than that, because she’s running with everything in her and still doesn’t make it before your head hits the ground. “My heart, my heart, my heart,” Agatha begs with a trembling voice. Her hands are shaking but she moves your head onto her lap and presses her hands into your side to try and stop the bleeding.
Why did it have to be this spell that hit you. Why did it have to be any? It’s been hundreds of years since her heart has hurt like this. Her mind whirls for a spell, for an anything. All she can do is slow the bleeding, and she does, but you still look up at her with fading eyes, and it kills Agatha.
“Ag-”
“Shh, lovely. It’s going to be okay,” Agatha whispers to you, kissing your head. She doesn’t even notice Wanda’s hand on her shoulder, or her coming up behind her at all.
“I’m transporting us to a Hospital,” Wanda says, looking uncertain and scared. Agatha pays no mind, just takes Wanda’s hand and guides her through the spell with her magic.
“Agatha,” you force out, Agatha returns your gaze, too distracted by the spell to stop you again. “Was power
was it that much more important?”
Suddenly you’re all in the hospital, your eyes are falling shut, and Wanda is shouting for a doctor. “No,” Agatha answers. brushing your hair back. Her chest aches deeply at the streak of blood her hand leaves. She wants to say more, wants to curse at you a bit, just to let it out, but a bunch of medics push Agatha to the side and start touching you.
It’s been a long time since Agatha felt this helpless. She wants to protect you, wants to insert herself into the commotion as the doctors pull you away and command that she gets to stay with you, but she’s scared to take even a split second away from their saving.
She’s paralyzed, watching as they roll you away out of her sight. Wanda, of all people, rests a hand on her shoulder, snapping her out it. “She’ll be okay,” Wanda assures, even as she sounds uncertain.
Agatha can’t bear it any longer. The uncertainty, and the assurance coming from the person she envies the most. She turns on her suddenly, eyes blazing with magic, and this is no longer about stealing Wanda’s magic. This is about Agatha, wanting to grab Wanda by the neck and shout that this is all her fault.
Except it isn’t. It’s her own fault. It was her magic that hit you. Hers that caused you so much pain. Agatha feels the blame so deeply she almost refuses to hold it. For your sake, for your words; was it that much more important? She decides to.
She sags into herself just as suddenly as she had turned towards Wanda, one hand waves her off, and the other presses against the burning in her eyes. “Leave.” Agatha says, her voice hoarse and emotional. And Wanda doesn’t.
She just tilts her head and looks at Agatha like a sad, lost animal. Wanda has no where to return to, not after the scandal she pulled, and the one person who would have probably accepted her (the one person that accepted Agatha herself) is now in a hospital bed.
Agatha sighs.
——
They’re sitting side by side. Agatha threatens to kill the front desk lady 3 times, but never once does she threaten to kill Wanda. Agatha doesn’t mind her. She understands the feeling inside her more than Wanda will ever know. In another life, she would have been her teacher.
If you survive, perhaps in this life too. If she can’t take Wanda’s power, maybe she’s able to watch and learn from it as much as she can.
Agatha can’t believe she’s giving up
she has planned and studied for this for so long
but she’s always been spontaneous, always been ready to plan and shift, always been good at changing track. She’ll get what she wants. She’ll get it another way.
It’s a promise she makes herself, sitting in the waiting room of the hospital waiting to find out if the person she loves is still breathing. It’s a promise she makes herself sitting by the person she’s planned to kill since she first pieced together her ability. A promise she makes herself because it means she gets to have you.
—-
“Agnes?” A nurse calls.
Wanda looks at her, her face reading seriously?. Agatha pays no mind to it, she just sits up violently, and holds tightly onto Wanda’s arm.
—-
When Agatha walks into the room it’s like her heart starts back up again and she can breathe. You’re hurt, but you’re okay. Agatha is in shambles, and she won’t be able to sleep without reliving you bleeding out on the floor—but you’re okay.
She breathes out. Once, twice, then she’s crying; hit with the force of her emotion.

POV Switch
—-
Everything hurts, but when the doctor lets Agatha in with Wanda following— for a moment it doesn’t. For a moment it’s Agatha, the woman you love, standing next to your best friend and not killing her.
Then Agatha is crying, and all you feel is concern. “Ag, lovely, are you hurt?” You ask, still full of drugs and delirious enough to be confused about it all.
Agatha who gave up on you. Agatha who you weren’t good enough for. Agatha who you love, who you could never meet the needs of. Agatha who put you in a hospital bed. Agatha who you love so fully despite the heartbreak she’s caused you.
It all comes back to you suddenly, but Agatha is crying— and none of any of it seems very significant compared to that. Wanda looks between the two of you, and says to you, softly, in a language only the two of you understand; “self-sabotage seems to be a language both me and this one speaks. You are drawn to damaged people, huh?”
You look down and Wanda laughs, but she looks like she also wants to cry. She opens her mouth to say something else, but you already know what she’s going to say so you cut her off. “It wasn’t your fault, Wanda, I am glad it was me and not you.”
Wanda looks like she wants to protest that, but instead she nods her head with tears in her eyes and whispers, after glancing at Agatha, “I’ll give you two privacy. Good luck.”
Then she leaves.
Agatha seems lost in her thoughts
well lost in something. Her eyes are distant, tears still running down her face. “Agatha.” It’s only a whisper but Agatha’s eyes snap towards you. She looks
terrified? She quickly tries to wipe her tears but more just fall.
“You idiot,” Agatha seethes, looking overwhelmed. She breathes heavily and you just let her, even as you bristle and begin to feel your defenses rise.
It’s probably best not to add wood to her fire, you think to yourself.
Agatha stalks towards you, angry, kisses your forehead and then sags into the chair next to your hospital bed. “You idiot,” she repeats shakily, her voice and face lined with a sort of devastation you don’t know how to comfort in her. “What do you think would’ve became of me if I killed you”Agatha presses. “Huh? Did you think before you—“
“Usually when people accidentally almost kill someone, they apologize instead of blaming the person.” You aren’t mad at Agatha, not for hitting you at least, but hearing her act as if you had been the one to fuck up was aggravating.
She fucked up. Not you. “You really think I was going to let you kill my best friend?” You ask, angry now too. “You really think I would’ve let you let me go for some stupid reason like that? I don’t know why power is so important to you, but I support you. I would’ve supported you on finding another way, because I support you when you aren’t hurting innocent people to achieve your self motivated ends. I have given up a lot for you, Agatha, but I will not give up that.”
You release a coughing fit after that. You have more to say but your body won’t allow you to. You have an endless amount of words for Agatha. Agatha who you love. Agatha who you don’t quite know how to be enough for.
Agatha who grits her teeth and looks down. “I will not give up power for you. It is more than that I want, which is something I’m not able to explain to you right now, but I hope you understand,” Agatha pauses. Her eyes meeting yours. “I’m going to find another way. I won’t hurt Wanda. I won’t hurt anyone that will make you—or most humans flaky moral code— ache. By that, I mean anyone ‘innocent’” she uses hand quotes then, and rolls her eyes.
The mild bitterness is clearly something Agatha can’t help. The way she changes tract though was something you never thought she would do for you, and you’re not quite able to understand it.
“Why?” You ask softly. It’s what you want, of course it is, it’s even what you asked, but Agatha doesn’t do anything for other people, nothing if it doesn’t come with her own sort of personal gain.
As if reading your mind Agatha straightens awkwardly in her chair and says simply; “I love you. I don’t want to hurt or lose you.”
“But
but power is important to you.”
“So are you,” Agatha says, tilting her head.
You don’t know why you’re almost trying to convince her it’s more important, but perhaps it’s because you struggle to accept or fathom your own importance in her life. It feels like a fever dream, one you’re trying to pinch yourself to get out of.
If you believe it and then are disappointed, it hurts more than if you had never believed it at all.
“I’m sorry,” Agatha says, pulling you out of your thoughts. Not by her voice, but by the tears forming in her eyes. “I’m sorry I hurt you. I’m sorry I was so scared of my own affections for you I denied myself them, and in turn made you feel denied. I love you.” She repeats. “I love you, and you’re important to me, and there’s a billion things I’d sacrifice for you, and I never want to lose you, and—“
“I love you too,” you rush out, shocked by Agatha’s desperation and wanting to reassure her. Agatha breathes out heavily, a breath she must’ve been holding, and shakes her head at herself, wiping at her eyes.
This time, at the quickness of how she composes herself you don’t think of it as her not really caring, but instead as a defense mechanism she’s mastered. A part of your heart hurts for her.
“Thank you, Agatha. For trusting me with your heart.”
Agatha rolls her eyes at that, but she’s smiling and it’s all apart of her recovery. You let her have it. “My heart,” she sighs, leaning over to give you a lingering kiss. When she pulls away the both of you stare at each other. You, trying to commit this moment to memory. Agatha staring like she’s trying to be sure this is real.
“The witch is still mine,” Agatha whispers, completely breaking the moment. “If she thinks she’s off the hook for the amount of emotional instability she has, she has another thing coming. Unstable emotions and magic are never a good combo.”
You snort. Mumbling under your breath, “funny
just learned that lesson.” Agatha glares at you, just as Wanda walks in.
“If we’re all good now I think we should go,” Wanda rushes.
“What did you do?” Both you and Agatha question.
Wanda smiles nervously, surrounding the room in an aura of red magic.. someone walks over to the barrier of it and begins banging. You’re beginning to wonder if it’s a talent of witches to ruin your peace. Especially when about 4 more armed people start trying to shove themselves into the force field. And oh, there are the guns.
Agatha sighs very deeply, and you release a very dramatic groan. Wanda tilts her head sheepishly. “I should go. I released westview but looks like my consequences are still knocking at the door,” she says quietly.
Agatha agrees. “Yes, you should.” She pauses, most likely waiting and taking pleasure in the pointed look you give her. “I probably should go too though, there’s no telling how people want to paint a witch. Most likely another villain
maybe a hero after the scene we pulled. Still, I shouldn’t be in the public until I find out.”
“We’ll see you soon then, Y/N.”
You give them a look, a look that both Wanda and Agatha know to mean; are you absolutely batshit crazy? You don’t need to say it, but you do; “you two are not going anywhere without me.”
Agatha smirks, and Wanda smiles, then a wave of Wanda’s hand and the three of you are somewhere else much more safe. At least until the media and Avengers manages to get the media to unfairly paint what happened in westview as something much more innocent.
This new journey with the three of you should be
fun until then. At least you have your favorite people, and they have you.
