He knows Cuteguy can’t really dislike him; if he did, why would he choose to be his sidekick? From what Scar’s seen of him, Cuteguy would be more than capable of striking out as a solo vigilante. Void, he’d probably fare well as a hero if he wanted. Hero recruiters would be fawning over his combat skills and flight—and no, Scar is not fighting back a pang of jealousy over that—but instead, he volunteered to be Scar’s right-hand man.  In which Scar is trying his best to be the vigilante Boatem needs—though he might need to work on his situational awareness while he's at it.

The Hermit League faces a new villain equipped with a 'Love Ray,' made to force its victim to fall in love with whoever they next see. Grian is hit with the ray, and the first person he sees is Scar.

These are amazing! I love them all. They're so freaking cute and beautiful! And the fuzzy creeper being involved reminds me of when Scar was trapping that charged creeper for grian and it blew up. Creepers really shouldn't be kept as pets.

(If Scar has a creeper in his menagerie I am unaware of this, thus it only reminds me of Grian's storefront window)

I can't pick a favorite critter. They are all so good.

I want to swim with the cat-solotl, cuddle the rabbish, run through the woods with the galactideer and wowls, and fly over rocky cliffs with the draconifern and it causes me great pain that I am but a mere human being.

More au stuff! I wanted to expand a bit more on scar being a magi-zoologist, so this is some concept art of the magical creatures in his zoo

Because grian is a shapeshifter, he can also help by talking to the other creatures and relaxing them (and occasionally stopping them from killing scar)

Can you tell I had fun naming all of them… anyways, promise there’s more of the actual relationship between grian and scar in the next comic + concept art pieces but I wanted to explore scar’s actual job a bit more first!

Grian was dreaming again.

He was dreaming of the warmth of the sun beating down on him, sand beneath his feet, echoing laughter. It was a familiar sound, a sound he used to chase, one that was now just out of his grasp.

The comforting sounds of Pizza echoed, a warm bleat that he missed. Cacti lined the desert, just below monopoly mountain, ones that used to prick his skin when he got too close.

The cacti closed in on him. Blood-stained hands lower themselves on skin. 𝘖𝘩, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘮. The sand below him stained red with the blood of 𝘩𝘪𝘮. He had killed him, he had killed him-

"Grian, wake up," Mumbo shoke him awake.

That's right, he was in Southlands. He had won and was pushed into the new game. No one remembered third life, except for him. There was no warm body next to him to keep him warm during the cold desert nights. Scar didn't even really know him anymore.

"Are you okay?" Mumbo asked after a second.
