New Year’s Day - Caitlin Clark x Reader

15. 14. 13. 12. 11.…the entirety of the Iowa women’s basketball team watched the tv waiting in anticipation for the ball on the screen to drop, signifying the new year. You were in your junior year at Iowa, and had loved it thus far. While watching the clock your mind wandered to all the things that had happened that year.

10. 9. 8… Women’s college basketball’s popularity had grown exponentially, and so had your team’s success. You had gotten closer with your teammates.

7. 6… You’d injured your knee and had to be out for almost a month, but you had a great support system behind you.

5. 4… You looked next to you and there she was. Your favorite thing that happened to you all year; your girlfriend, Caitlin Clark. She had been your teammate all throughout your college career, but the two of you had only started to explore the romantic tension that lingered between the two of you this past year. It was the best thing you’d ever done. Caitlin noticed your eyes on her and stared back at you. She smirked and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.

“See something you like?” You rolled your eyes are your overly-cocky girlfriend, but leaned into her touch. You were still staring at her, and she was staring back. Her smile took you to another planet. It was almost like time froze and nobody else was there. Nobody else mattered when you locked eyes with her. It was you and her against the world. Alas, the noise grew louder the lower the numbers counted down to. Before you knew it everyone was chanting, “3! 2! 1!”

“Happy New Year!” Everyone cheered as the ball on the glowing television dropped. You grabbed the side of Caitlin’s face and turned it back to you, colliding your lips together. It was a sweet, but passionate kiss that definitely lasted a little longer than appropriate for a public setting. When you finally released her face from your grasp she looked at you stunned.

“What?” You looked at her with doe eyes, “I thought that’s what couples were supposed to do on New Year’s?” Caitlin smiled at you and pulled you closer to her, at a loss for words. She had definitely hit the jackpot. Soon enough, everyone said their ‘goodbyes’ and goodnights’ and you and Caitlin were left alone in your apartment. You looked over and her fondly, then looked back at the mess on the floor and grimaced. There were beer cans, bottles, confetti, anything you could imagine it was on your floor. You started to groan at the thought of having to pick it all up and Caitlin pulled you into her chest, resting her chin on top of her head.

“Let’s go to bed baby, we can clean up in the morning,” and just like that, she was leading you to your bedroom.

The next morning you woke up in Caitlin’s arms, just like usual. The light peered in throw the blinds in rays that accentuated the green in her eyes. You buried your head into her neck trying to avoid looking directly into the light and breathed in the faint smell of her perfume she wore last night. Caitlin stirred and held you even tighter.

Since it was the first day of the new year, you wanted to start things off on the right foot. You got out of bed and got ready, throwing on some sweatpants and one of your girlfriend’s hoodies, then headed to the kitchen to make the two of you some breakfast. Caitlin followed suit closely behind you, and after breakfast you got to work picking up the remains of last night’s party.

You swept glitter off the floor while Caitlin started picking up bottles. Every once in a while, Caitlin stole glances at you. Everytime Caitlin wasn’t looking at you, you were stealing glances at her. You walked past Caitlin on your way to dump the glitter in the trash and brushed past her arm, desperate for her touch. Feeling sentimental after thinking about how grateful you were for everything that happened in the part year, you walked back to where she was and rubbed her arm. You looked down and saw she had a polaroid in her hand. After further inspection, you saw it was the two of you mid-kiss. She turned to you, “this is so cute, Y/n, who took it?” You simply shrugged. You had no idea, but it sure was cute!

“Cait I-“

“I love you so much babe. I’m so happy I get to go into another year with you!” She cut you off, but it was okay because she was adorable and what you had to say was pretty much exactly what she said. You wrapped your arms around her neck, holding onto your memories and onto her. You pecked her on the lips, leaving her wanted more. “That better not be the last New Year’s kiss I ever get from you.” She laughed and kissed your forehead, “trust me, it was the first of many. Wanna take a break? You know my resolution was actually to spend some more quality time with you this year!” She winked and you knew exactly what she meant.

That's what I told my bestfriend Missy. “Alright.” she responded. “Hey, have you talked to Sam?” she added. “No? Why?” I ask kind of worried. All she did was smirk at me, I rolled my eyes. She loved to tease me about my crush. I’ve had a crush on Sam for 8 years, we’ve been friends for 13 years. When we were younger, we were inseparable. I never wanted to accept my feelings for him, but all the times I looked at him with pure love, and the amount of times I would get jealous at him introducing his new girlfriend’s. I just had to admit it eventually. But I never dared uddered a word about it to anyone, only my close friends. But somehow, some people caught on, but Sam was still oblivious.

I was scared honestly. Mama always told me to be careful who I love. And daddy always told me make sure he’s right. I took that to heart. But It felt different with him. Something I never felt before.

“You should text him.” Missy says, snapping me out my thoughts. “Yeah, yeah. Can you turn it up a little bit more?” I ask, “Text. Him. First.” damn, she's serious. “Okay, mom geez.”

“Okay, I texted him. You happy?” I say snarky. “Yes, indeed.” She says standing up to hug me. “You know you have to tell him sooner or later right?” Jesus.. “Dude, we’ve already had this conversation. It's not the right time!” I slightly raised my voice out of irritation. “Okay babe;” she laughed. “There’s no need to be angry.” she said. “Yeah, yeah.. I’m sorry, I’m just stressed. You're right.” I replied. “Yes.. I know, I’m always right. But if you don't tell him, I will.” She concluded. I chuckled dryly. “Okay.”

Me and Missy hung out for a couple of hours until Sam texted me telling me he was on his way. Seeing that I looked at the time and realized it was 8:30. “Oh crap. I gotta go.” I tell Missy, giving her a quick hug and rushing out her apartment door. “Okay, bye babe! Good luck!” is what I heard from the distance.

On my way back to my house, I get a phone call from Kat.

I sigh and walk up to my house, excited to see that beautiful face again. About 5 minutes later I hear a knock on my door. Yayyy! I opened the door to be a little disappointed to see a pizza delivery man. (u thought that was Sam didn’t you?) “Hello, 3 pizzas for Sam?” He says. “Yes sir. Thank you!” I say as he handed me the pizzas. After I put the food down on the kitchen counter and look at my phone. That's when I saw a missed text from Sam saying he ordered pizzas. An audible “no duh” came out from my mouth. I text back with a “Got them!”

About 10 minutes later I hear a knock on my door. It was the one and only Sam. “Sammyyyyy!!” I yell jumping on him for a hug. “Hi y/n/n.” He replies, snuggling into my neck. “You surely took your time.” I whisper into his ear. “Oh I'm sorry, traffic.” He says. We stayed like that for about 10 seconds. “Maybe you should come inside hun.” you say, pulling away. You hear an audible groan come from his mouth, but he complied none of the less.

Sam ended up staying there for 5 hours and it was really fun. Y'all did a lot of stuff, and occasionally flirted. You thought it was really weird because Sam never showed signs of liking you. But at the same time he could be joking. I just overthink too much. On the way out the door, I couldn't help but wonder if I actually had a chance.

“Thanks for inviting me over Y/n, I had a lot of fun.” Sam says. “Of course! You're welcome anytime.” I replied. After that, we just stared at eachother. Wow, this is weird. It was like he was waiting for something, I just gave him a confused look. He just sighed and said, “Anyways, bye.” and rushed out the door. That was even weirder but it is what it is. Since it was 2:30, I decided to take a quick shower and head to bed.

The next day

It was currently 3:30 in the afternoon and I was up thinking all night. I don’t know why but when I tried to go to sleep, I couldn’t. But luckily, I know what to do with Sam now. I called Missy to tell her.

I ended up sitting there and writing that letter for 1 hour. It was really a 4 page letter expressing all my feelings to him. The way he makes me feel. The way I felt this way for 8 years. The way he keeps me safe. How I hope when I get the courage to come to him, to promise not to diss me. I told that I was too shy so I decided to write instead of saying it in person. After all that, I contemplated putting my name on it, but eventually decided against it. I put it in the envelope and enclosed it with a kiss.

3. Madoc not being an asshat for once/ proving that he finally cares more about his family than power and violence. I want to see some growth from him! PLEASE

A/N: (March 8, 2025: The fic has been officially transitioned to Hotch/OMC. The fic sort of got away from me and I realized I've been putting more detail than I should be for a reader insert as I've been writing future chapters. I apologize ahead of time for anyone who enjoyed it as a reader insert, but I wanted to rectify this in the hopes that future chapters wouldn't feel so forced/odd/specific as I write them.) This chapter and the next chapter are pretty case focused, so I’ve changed the rating because of the descriptions.

I took off toward the DC office to get briefed on the case and sighed at the interrupted date Hotch and I both had to leave. I was glad he had a good time, though, and I couldn't wait to see him again. I scrubbed a hand roughly over my face, needing to get thoughts of him out of my head.

Now was not the time.

“The victim is Theodore Jackson, forty-three years old. Baltimore PD found him Friday morning in Mt. Vernon Place stripped naked, beaten, and with mutilated genitals. ME is working on the autopsy now and they’re already started a full blood work up.”

“Jeez. Mutilated genitals?”

“He was castrated,” my chief simplified.

I looked at the horrific images that he pulled up. Our unit was stretched thin, leaving usually one or two agents to work with local PD on violent crimes cases.

“Family?”

“No one local except for a partner, Tyler Clarke. Said he went missing Thursday night when they were out at a club,” my chief stood from where he’d been sitting on the edge of our conference table.

“Any other victims? Gang ties? MS-13 has a high concentration around there.”

“We just got the case. No one has looked into previous victims yet,” he gave me a dejected shrug. “Everyone has their hands full with other cases."

“I’ll get Fielding on it,” I nodded, making a note to call our analyst. Being short-staffed was an understatement.

“They want you there today. I sent you all the info.”

“I’ll get going,” I pushed myself away from the table. “Thanks, Chief.”

“I’ll take you off rotation,” he called after me.

“Thanks.”

How ridiculous would a SWAT mobilization be when I was forty miles away?

I started the drive after making sure I had everything I needed, then left DC as quickly as I could. About halfway through the drive my phone rang, and I answered it without looking at the caller ID.

“Navarro,” I answered the phone.

“So, you’re meeting up with my boss on the weekends now?”

“Hi, Derek, Happy Saturday,” my firehead softened at the voice on the other line and I cooed in my best teasing tone.

“Don’t try and sweet talk me now, boy,” I heard his grin over the phone. “What gives?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I exhaled, feigning ignorance.

“Your name is on his cup, genius,” He laughed, and I heard the sound of a plane engine coming closer over the phone.

“Ah, well, plenty of Leon’s in the world,” I shrugged even though he couldn’t see me.

“Brother, there is a whole ass accent on there. They might not realize who the name belongs to yet, but I do. The bets are being placed as we speak,” he said in a sing-songy voice, a smile evident in his tone.

“Let me know how that goes. Have fun in Indiana, babe,” I blew the phone speaker a kiss and hung up.

“Little shit,” Morgan grumbled playfully to the phone after I hung up.

“Who was that?” Hotch asked curiously from his seat as Morgan stepped on the plane.

“Don’t play with me, Hotch,” he sighed and threw himself into a seat.

Hotch took a slow sip of his coffee to hide his growing smile.

“And how was your morning?” Rossi greeted Hotch, eyeballing the exchange between him and Derek.

“It was great.”

“Great, huh? Have anything to do with that name?” Rossi nodded to the coffee cup. Hotch immediately spun the name away from him. “I saw it in the elevator. You’re not slick, Aaron. Who’s León?” he drug out the name dramatically, adding a little flair to add to the drama.

Hotch feigned ignorance by opening a case file and flipping through it.

“Were you on a date?” Emily asked curiously, making JJ lean in to hear better.

Hotch opened his mouth to speak and was interrupted by Reid, “According to a study published in the Journal of Divorce & Remarriage, divorced men tend to re-enter the dating scene faster than women. They found that 31.5% of men were dating again within a year compared to only 19.4% of women. Considering how long-ago Hotch’s divorce was, it’s not unlikely.”

Hotch stared at Reid with a blank expression.

“Sorry.”

“The case? Please?” Hotch looked at the rest of his team.

I arrived at the Baltimore Police Department’s Central Station in an hour and immediately got to work.

“Captain O’Malley,” an older, weathered looking woman introduced herself as I walked to the front doors.

I shook her hand, “SSA Navarro.”

“Sorry to call you guys in on a weekend,” she peered around me as if she was waiting for someone. “I thought they’d send more of you?”

“We’re pretty inundated. Let’s hope we don’t need more than me,” I shifted, my bag threatening to fall off my shoulder during the exchange. “Where can I get set up?”

“We cleared out an office for you. Let me know if you need anything. I can take you to the crime scene when you’re set up.”

“That’d be great.”

Upon visiting the scene and looking over the surveillance footage, we determined that the unsub did his homework scoping out cameras and being careful to not get his face seen. He seemed fit enough to carry the act out alone in what we did see of him and managed to lure Theodore outside where the visuals ended. This meant that the murder was meticulously planned, and further we noticed the castration didn’t have any hesitation marks. It led me to believe that the unsub had definitely done this before. In conclusion, it was a big “NO" to gang activity.

Great.

“Fielding,” our analyst answered.

“Hola, mi reina. Justo la voz que quería escuchar,” Hello, my queen. Just the voice I wanted to hear, I greeted, hearing the smile in her laugh.

“No idea what you said but, oh, do I love the way it sounds, Leo,” she cooed.

I laughed and got us back on track, “I need you to run a search for me. Murdered males, middle aged, castrated or mutilated in some way.”

“That might be a big search, honey.”

“I know, uh—narrow down anyone who went missing from bars or clubs.”

“Alright, I’ll let you know what I come up with,” she confirmed and hung up.

A knock sounded on the office door, “Hey,” Captain O’Malley rushed in. “The M.E. finally called, they found traces of ketamine in Theodore’s system. They also found saliva on his neck and face but no hits.”

“The unsub drugged his drink? Maybe that’s how he got him outside?”

“It was hard to tell from the video,” O’Malley hummed.

We interviewed Theodore’s partner and other bars in the area, as well as reviewed hours upon hours of surveillance footage from surrounding bars to see if we could spot the unsub hunting anywhere else. According to Tyler, he and Theodore were dancing, Theodore left to grab them a couple more drinks, and never came back which checked out with the footage. Their car was still in the lot when Tyler checked outside.

The bartender that Thursday night that Theodore went missing took some persuading to talk. He had initially waved me off, claiming he had already given a report to the police but I managed to strike a rapport with him, stressing how important it is that murders in our community are taken just as seriously as anyone else. With some reluctance since he didn't want to be involved, he finally sighed and mentioned seeing Theodore and Tyler that night. He said they were regulars and that Theodore was a bit of a flirt with other men, too. He had seen Theodore talking to another man that night, someone who wasn’t Tyler but with how busy it was with their happy hour special and being understaffed, the bartender didn’t have time to get a good look at the guy—just that he was younger and pretty fit. He also mumbled about it not being his business, but mentioned that they were there one moment and gone the next.

It was equally helpful and unhelpful, though we could safely assume this was carried out by one person. Captain O’Malley increased patrols around the clubs in the area in case the unsub decided to strike again tonight.

I checked into a hotel near the station to try and get some sleep and come back to the case with fresh eyes. After taking a quick shower, my phone broke the silence.

“Hey,” I answered Fielding’s call.

“Hey, so I had a lot of hits but focused specifically on genital mutilations and narrowed the list a lot. Ten other victims fit the victimology,” she answered. “I’m sending them to you now. Six of them were in Missouri and four in Oregon, all in the same areas within each state, all fitting the age, too. And get this...”

I hummed in response, leaning over the desk in my room to pull up the info.

“They were all abducted from gay clubs, and all had partners around ten or more years younger than them.”

“That’s an understatement,” she sighed.

“Thanks, get some rest,” I ordered and hung up.

After getting dressed, I sifted through the information she sent over in bed. Surveillance footage showed similar abductions to the case here with the victim willingly following the unsub. Just like those, the unsub was cognizant of keeping his face hidden. My phone vibrated next to me, breaking me out of my trance and making me realize it was 2:00 AM. I set the laptop on the nightstand and grabbed my phone.

“Get some rest. You’re no use to them off your game.” -Hotch

Before I could respond, my phone buzzed. Hotch was calling me.

“Talk to me,” he murmured.

“Yea, that kind of frustration can get under your skin. But—” he paused, sighing, “Staying up this late isn't going to help.”

Despite his words not being all that helpful, I was already feeling a little better just hearing his voice.

“Yea, well, we can’t all be top-notch profilers.”

Hotch laughed over the line, “I’m sure you’re not half bad.”

“Careful,” I teased. “You talk me up too much and I might get a big head.”

“It can get bigger?” he teased back.

“Ouch,” I laughed, sighing as my frustration subsided with our laughter lightening the load a little. “Thank you for checking on me.”

“Of course. Call me if you need any help,” he stressed.

“I don’t want to be a—”

“You’re not. Get some rest,” he interrupted me.

“We’re in the same time zone, you go to bed, too, Hotchner.”

“Yes, sir,” he replied with a hint of sarcasm.

Once the call ended, I tossed my phone onto the nightstand and flopped onto the stiff hotel bed, rubbing a hand over my face. I was mentally exhausted but my mind refused to slow down despite that.

Ten victims. Three states. Same pattern.

I closed my eyes, willing my brain to rest. I even tried a technique I learned years ago overseas, relaxing my toes, ankles, feet, legs, fingers, arms...nope. Groaning and feeling the frustration bubbling up again, I turned onto my side, staring at the glowing red numbers of the hotel clock:

With a frustrated sigh, I pushed myself up, knowing damn well I wasn’t getting any real sleep.

The case file was still pulled up on my laptop, the screen dim in the dark room. I laid back against the pillows, cracking my neck as I scrolled through the victims again.

I tapped my fingers against the plastic of the laptop just next to the trackpad, my jaw clenched and tight.

I pulled up the Missouri cases, clicking on one of the earlier victims. Daniel Watts, 44. Murdered in 2008. Same exact M.O.

I moved to the Oregon cases. James Holloway, 46. Murdered in 2009. Partner? Jordan Lewis, 28.

My stomach churned uncomfortably at the images and testimonies given by the distraught partners. Every age gap was nearly identical: Forty-something victim. Partner ten to fifteen years younger. Over and over again.

My fingers hovered over the trackpad as something settled uncomfortably in my gut. He’s not just killing them because they’re older men. He’s killing them because they remind him of someone and the mutilation played a key part.

I exhaled sharply, leaning back until my head hit the wall, replaying the rudimentary profile in my head.

Was the unsub in a relationship like this before? Was he the younger one or the older one? Based on the interviews, likely the younger one. Did something happen to make him snap?

The longer I stared at the screen, the heavier my eyelids became. I scrubbed a hand down my face and checked the time again.

4:57 AM.

I should at least try to sleep.

Shoving the laptop aside, I slid down back into bed, my body finally feeling the weight of exhaustion. My eyes shut, but my brain kept working, crime scene photos and autopsy reports flashing behind my lids.

Hotch was right—I was no use to the case if I let it consume me. The thought barely settled before my phone rang, its sharp buzz slicing through the darkness.

I groggily reached for it, barely checking the caller ID before answering.

“Yeah?” My voice was hoarse.

Captain O’Malley’s voice came through, groggy but tight, “My boys found another body.”

Damn.

I was already sitting up and throwing the covers back before she even finished the sentence.

“Where?”

“Monarch. Club goers found him behind the bar. We’ve got a perimeter set up, but…” she hesitated, exhaling. “This one’s fresh.”

My stomach tightened as I pulled on random clothes from my bag. “How fresh?”

“Less than three hours.”

My pulse spiked, the unsub was still in the city which meant we could expect more murders still.

“Send me the address. I’m on my way.”

I hung up and grabbed my badge and gun, my exhaustion forgotten for the time being.

I love talking about these two and especially the earlier stages of their relationship lol I talked about it in this post + wrote some hcs about their first time too.

I feel like they were getting closer and closer very quickly as they continued talking to each other every day, and then at some point the tension just got too strong. Maybe there would be sense for them to talk about their feelings, but it was the kind of situation when it was obvious even without words. So none of them really asked the other one out, but at some point they just started “dating”…

Maybe this isn’t how Vil imagined his first proper relationship to start, but it’s not like he wasn’t just as passionate as Rook was lol

We don’t ship him with anyone yet because we haven’t seen anything of him, but based on things we already know, it feels like he is going to join the top squad. But until we actually see him and learn how he interacts with others and what dynamics he has with people around him, we can’t say for certain.

They actually do need 2 eat, but cobs has literally been starving them constantly, thinking that being mostly machine means they'll never be hungry. This is part of the reason mephone thinks they're a "fat slob" and even jokes abt it 2 himself around others but thats just not the case, they quite literally are just fucking hungry. Yes, i think mephone might have an eating disorder. Speaking of shimmers, you know how the other baby shimmer, the green one, was nonbinary implying that the shimmers are a naturally genderless species? I think mephone may also be nonbinary. My evidence? Paintbrush. I think Paintbrush was made as genderless the way they were in season one because cobs thought mephone being nonbinary was like stupid and wrong or something. Mephone projects their grief into humor as their main coping mechanism. I highly doubt that everyone is going 2 die permanently. That is not in the nature of inanimate insanity. However, the show LOVESSS 2 make its fandom miserable, so these fellas will not get removed from melife without consequences. The Xed contestants may experience memory problems or will go into a full reset. To make things sadder, I feel like their brains would subconsciously remember the people they had good relationships with even though they themselves don't actually know they've met before. In other words, if anyone sees anyone they had good relations with in a past life, they will subconsciously feel comforted by their presence. Mike is a character who went through a huge trauma at a young age (I hope I don't have to explain to you how traumatizing it is to lose someone important to u? look at nancy, joyce, hopper, etc.) many people question his trauma because "he only knew El for a few days so it couldn't be that serious " but apparently it was? apparently it was since he sat in the basement day after day for almost a year talking to himself out loud pretending that she heard it even though he knew full well that she was dead, the scenes of him calling her always ended up showing Mike who thinks that what he is doing is stupid but he still can't stop it, he feels like he is losing his mind but is afraid to ask for help. Even though he had known El for a few days, it was serious enough for him to fall into such a mental disorder - just look at him in s2: a 13-year-old kid, totally not paying attention to his appearance, wearing old dirty shoes (look at max in s4, she always paid attention to her shoes, well not in s4 and guess why?) in random clothes that he wouldn't wear on his own if he cared (a sweater that everyone loves ) he started to be mean to adults (teachers, parents) it was hard for him to find time for friends even though he had plenty of it, he just didn't have the strength or desire for it, he forgot that he had plans, he was doing worse at school and much more - do you think this is what a healthy person looks like? no, this is a person who literally begs for help but not with words because he can't find the right ones.

the way he behaves in s3-4 didn't come out of nowhere either. Listen, Eleven's return was literally a miracle for him, she was dead, right? and suddenly she's next to him, safe and sound, the problem is that he's not. Depression can't just go away, it's a mental illness, not a bad mood. But he did everything, literally everything he could, to make her believe that everything was ok, and honestly? he really wanted to believe it too, he wanted it to be like that, he wanted to have a normal, happy life and she did too, and besides, they both deserved it, right? and they almost succeeded, at the beginning of s3 we see that it led to the fact that they became very close to each other, it was difficult for them to function without each other, we literally have a scene where Mike (already late anyway) leaves El to go to his friends and she says that she wants to be with him (they spent the whole day together). well, they were 14 years old, in their first relationship and they really wanted everything to be perfect - and it was for them until they encountered an obstacle.

I won't describe the entire course of their relationship in s3 because that's not the point, I'm talking about Mike's behavior because many people don't understand his "obsession" with her in s3. I will explain it to you using the example of Lucas: imagine what hell he is going through his head right now bc of Max who's in a coma, okay, let's assume that it will last about a year (and it will literally destroy him mentally) and then suddenly a miracle will happen - a real miracle, because Max will not only wake up, but she will be 100% fine (she will be able to walk, see, etc.) Lucas will gain hope for a chance - a chance for them to have the happy normal life together that they deserve, and for some time it will be like that and then lucas will start reliving the old nightmare over and over again like in hell :every time Max will say "it's okay, don't worry, trust me, I can do it" and then every time something bad happens, she will be the first person to risk her life for others, and always, I repeat ALWAYS, when Lucas wants to explain to anyone that it is terribly stressful for him, that he does not like it, that he doesn't want his girlfriend to be a target, and the only thing that he wants is a plan that doesn't endanger her life - then everyone will say that Lucas is a sexist who only wants to control max like his little pet that can't decide for itself. Because this is literally Mike's story in s3 if u like it or not. He is traumatized and people are misunderstanding him.

now, very often I see people comment on his monologue saying "I understand that he's afraid of losing her, but that much? bffr, it's definitely about something other than feelings for her, he probably loves Will" but that's exactly what it's about, no, his character is not just about his love for her, it's about all the trauma that he hasn't escaped from, you may think he made it but the truth is that he still carries it inside because no one has ever helped him with that - every time he is happy with El something bad happens to their relationship and he has to relive this nightmare all over again, and it has gotten so intense that in s4 we hear something really terrible from him when he confess to Will - not only he is afraid that he will lose her because she will die, he is afraid that she is no longer interested in him, and they don't need any catastrophe or the end of the world for him to lose her AGAIN. This only confirms the fact that he is not in the best condition, in fact this kid is calling for help but in a way that no one can understand.

honestly, I don't care if u ship mileven or byler, but don't u dare tell me that if mileven will be endgame then mike is nothing more than a guy in love with a main female character because that is just not true.

Hashirama headcannon

i have this head cannon of Hashirama that has been bugging me for years. canonically, Hashirama is shown as a goofy, happy-go-lucky man with a bit of an idiotic personality. this personality was what enabled him to build Konoha and become its leader. fortunately, I bever liked Hashirama’a canon character and it was solidified by flics on ao3 that mostly showed Hashirama as an incompetent man who only dreams but doesn't actually work for it. and I always thought of Hashirama as a very manipulative character who showed a bit of phsycopathic tendencies and hid them behind his happy facade to  make people feel at ease around him.

this is of course what I perceived of canon and feel free to disagree with it and since Kishimoto was vague with every timeline that was not naruto era it makes it open to different scenarios and situations.

my perception of canon! Hashirama was that he hid his dark self under a happy persona to make it easier for people to trust him which was what exactly happened with Madara. Madara blinded by his grief and trust of Hashirama made it easier for Hashirama to use him. as it is canon that an emotionally unstable Uchiha can be easily manipulated. Hashirama took advantage of this and made Madara do what he wanted and when his use was over he let him go and the circumstances made everyone think that it was Madara at fault.

We have some proofs of this from canon because when u look at the warring  era, especially the uchiha - senju war , there are many inconsistencies, like why did it take so long for Hashirama and madara to make peace after they became clan head. my thoughts on this are probably because while hashirama did shout his desire to have between their clans in every battle he did not back it up with his actions.

madara was already very distrustful of people around him that to trust, he concluded that  hashirama who only spoke sweetened words and not showed it with his actions could not be trusted.

I am not saying that madara is also not at fault here but if u look at this closely, senju clan may have been a shinobi clan but they also would have had trade businesses with other clans and while hashirama could have shown that he was genuine with his peace by retreating his clan from battles, attacking only when threatened and not picking fights with the uchihas.

uchihas may have been confused and wary of this at first but after months of no battle between these clans it may made peace more plausible and appear more quickly. and after some months of no squirmishes he could have send a peace treaty so that madara knows tha he is serious about his intentions.

another thing that caught my attention from canon and ao3 writers was, hashirama basically abandoned madraa after the formation of konoha. a lonely madara whose last light may have been hashirma, with his clan who turned his back on him , hashirama who ignored him  he may have thought that hashirama used him and in his rage left the village. and even after the formation of village hashirama may have not worked towards the techincalities to keep the village going.

hashirama doesn't seem like a bureaucartic person who will actually work on the formation of village like sewer lines water pipelines and buildings trade businesses etc. all of this may have fell either on tobirama’s shoulders or madaras' shoulders.

tobirama mostly may have done this work because he seems like a very ruthless, intelligent and efficient man who gets shit done.

and lastly we see who hashirama truly is in the 4 shinobi war arc when hashirama praises itachi for killing his clan and saving the village.

I cannot stress this enough but praising a 13 year old child for killing his whole clan and not having a stable healthy life he should have had is sick like really didsgusting.

hashirama’a actions and later tobirama’s prejudice was what drove the situation to the coup during hiruzen’s time. uchiha were probably holding decades of resentment that finally blew in huge proportions. on top of that danzo’s collection of sharingan eyeballs prior to the massacare must have come from somewhere right?

the uchiha may have suspected that someone from high chain command was stealing the uchiha eyeballs. because many uchiha memebers went missing without a trace in suspicious circumstance is not a coinicidence. like it was happened once maybe twice but when it was happening repeatedly then there is something suspicious going on.

uchiha clan a prideful, closed off, and arrogant clan who are control freaks and fiercely independent may have felt powerless in these circumstances.

the inability to do anything, the hopelessness may have turned them onto the path of their self destruction. the kyuubi attack was finally the straw that broke the camel’s back.

finally i think hashirama’s nature was only truly known to tobirama and perhaps to some depth mito. madara may have realized it too late.

tobirama may have accepted it and unconsciously moulded himself to balance this but ultimately it was what may have blocked his potential and his dreams.

tobirama’s ruthlessness is much much better than hashirama’s casual and perhaps sadistic cruelty.

4. Takumi was emo in middle school

5. Sakota and some other suzuran students offered Hana a hit from their cigs and he kept rejecting it and the one time he does take a hit he basically coughs for 15 mins straight like Yasu from crows when he's being depressed cuz he got that Mohawk sosnaosjnsow

6. Shougo is kinda nerdy but tries to hide it

7. Mitsumasa would've been a hipster. He is nerdy but he gives such strong would be on tumblr hipster vibes with the fake mustache and scarf and all of it.

8. Takumi and Amachi had some type of situationship

9. Kurosawa and Guriko have a horribly toxic relationship/situationship and all of suzuran treat it like a reality TV show (it's the only info Kinji shares with everyone no matter if they r from suzuran or not for free)

10. Every week they flip flop from " I wanna marry you ", " I h8 you, I'm not gay. " , " Your the only one for me ", when they're in a good spot Guriko tries to make Kurosawa more feminine and tries to slightly put him down in public cuz he still cannot accept he's gay

11. This is literally just canon Hiromi and Bandou r married

12. When Nanba gets anxious he fiddles with his jewellery he does it sometimes while talking to people he doesn't know that well and they usually think he's threatening them and he has no idea why

13. People that aren't in the Armament assume that Kousei and Shougo r brothers all the time, Kousei laughs it off , Shougo gets awkward and quiet , and Juuzou gets a tiny bit jealous cuz like that's his lil baby bro

14. Shougo has some sensory issues and on some days its worse and it makes him not wanna wear the tfoa leather jacket but he'd rather die then disappoint his seniors so he wears it but he's so obviously uncomfortable and stands like a puffed up bird with his arms to his side but not touching him and his legs a bit too far apart and it's so uncomfortable everything he does looks like one of those stock images but he thinks he's doing a good job of hiding it meanwhile everyone in the armament knows and when it's one of those days they send him home saying there's nothing today or give him some work to do which needs him to remove his jacket

15. It's few and far in between buy there r days Nanba is more insecure about himself to the point he'll do anything he can to avoid looking at his reflection and the rest of the armament have caught onto it and help him by covering any mirrors and really reflective surfaces or setting them out of his sight

I'll give of mine down there, cutting it again 'cause it's long!!!!

Let's start with CROWS :

– Hiromi and Bandou are, duh, in love and later on get married. They were in love during high school but since there were so many emotions between them it was hard to decipher to what level. But during Hiromi's third year they realized they couldn't live without seeing each other/not being around one another for that long.

– Young Bandou had a crush on Sugata.

– Harumichi screams at the monkeys in the zoo.

– Makoto is a he/him butch lesbian on HRT. He's out to everyone in their friend group beside Gunji (the boy was unaware. Had whiplash when he learned. But later on did not gaf.) He also was a silent tank because he did not like the sound of his voice.

– Zetton is a hundred percent autistic with ADHD. He's really intelligent but has difficulty focusing on one thing at a time. He'll sometimes neglect one thing for another if he deems it necessary (regardless of their true importance). Pisses off a lot of people, Hideyoshi being top of the list.

– Hideyoshi refused to pay to pierce his ear and did it himself with a hammer nail. Luckily his ear didn't get infected since he had put the nail on top of the gas until it turned red (it was painful), but he can only put one type of earrings since the hole is too big for regular ones.

– Masa had pink hair at some point. A very soft hue, a yellowish pink.

– Gunji gets extremely clumsy around girls. Very awkward, loses all sense of speech.

– Yasu once got so drunk he cried on the way home when he thought Harumichi had turned into a fat cat he saw on the street. While Harumichi was right beside him mind you.

– Ryuushin is hot blooded. He gets too warm swiftly. That's why he often doesn't wear shirts under his jacket.

– Tatsuya is cold blooded, in contradiction. He always has an undershirt.

– Harumichi also is cold blooded but he's a show off. He catches colds easily.

– Bulldog knows sign language. Learned it because of a girl, now uses it to curse people for fun and to get discounts on stuff since he's deaf in one ear.

– Yonezaki is a sleepwalker. Stopped taking naps at school when he woke up standing on his desk in front of his entire class.

– Kousei is allergic to pollen. The guys find the way he sneezes adorable, like a mouse squeak. But they don't find it so cute when he starts to turn red with watery eyes. They all carry EpiPens in their pockets because of that.

– Jou likes to do food critics for fun. He's actually a very good palate.

– Teru and Kiiko are a couple. Parko's the third wheel. He does not give a fuck though, even when they start to flirt. He often intrudes, unaware, but they don't mind him at all – they even include him sometimes. (Me, you, and Steve type of situation lmfao)

Let's go over to WORST now!

– Kiyohiro gets flustered easily. He turns red as a beet root. The Armament (mostly Tesshou) LOVE to tease him to get some kind of reaction. It pisses him off so much he sometimes leaves and only comes back the day after. (He doesn't give anyone any information. Not answering calls or texts. It frightened everyone the first time he did it. They almost ordered a man search.)

– Tesshou often comes to the scrapyard with painted nails because his little sister enjoys doing them.

– Shougo is easily offended. He doesn't show it but he'll sure sulk later on. Takumi is his worst enemy when it comes to that.

– Takumi is a sarcasm missile. He always finds a way to send a jab. Meaning it or not, he'll find a way to make a snarky remark.

– Maekawa has a wheezy laugh. Sounds like he's choking.

– Kuniyoshi is afraid (dislikes the sight) of needles.

– Renji is a mumbler. Mumbles words as he walks or stays still, doing whatever. He mumbles in order to remember all of the information he's gathered, otherwise he might forget some details or mix things up.

– Sakota is easily startled. Jumps at any short disturbances. But he's so hot-tempered that it just looks like he's going to crash out each time someone startle him (they don't know they just scared him).

– Tora is actually really silent on his feet. Startled Sakota more than once. Weirds everyone's out. Looks like he teleports across the room when no one's keeping an eye on him.

– Asai ears can move but they're also extremely flexible. He can put his ear in its hole, literally. He did it one time in front of Yaita & Katsuhiro and they started to shout like monkeys after seeing a magic trick.

– Ozaki's right arm often stings. It didn't heal well from the fracture.

– Ginji is touch-starved. Uses Tsutomu as an outlet. Putting his forehead on his shoulder blades or leaning against him. Putting an arm around his back, or putting his arms on his shoulders. Tsutomu doesn't mind.

– Pudding is actually a real bullet, he runs extremely fast. That's why he's able to escape Tsutomu most of the time.

– Hana is extremely skilled at calisthenics but bad at gymnastics (not flexible enough). He's a killer at rock climbing though.

– He's also weirdly skilled at reproducing animal shouts. Made everyone's eyes go wide when he started to sing like a bird. He also likes to bark for fun. (Makes Sakota jump real hard).

– Amachi's adoptive father is extremely kind. That's why he's able to get that much money in order to erase people's debts etc...

– Amachi has schizophrenia (because of PTSD), paranoia and extreme mood swings. He also lacks empathy but he laters works on it. The sight of Hana makes him terribly angry (it's mainly jealousy). He couldn't bear to see a man as strong as him be so carefree, so openly kind, instead of using his strength to dominate others (how he believed he'd survive in life).

– I also think Amachi has platinium blond hair. Stress and anxiety, wariness and anger wore the color out.

– Daitou has a fat crush on Amachi.

– Ichizen is colorblind.

– Akira is dyslexic.

– Bisuko also is dyslexic.

– Takumi has synesthesia (can see colors in letters).

– Guriko and Kurosawa have a thing going on but it's not exactly a situationship because they are willing to get together but Guriko is weird about it. It's exactly forced feminization (but a heteronormative brain too). There has to be a woman in their relationship (that's how it works, right?) and it sure as hell won't be Guriko. Kurosawa never complies though, of course. And it often ends up in a physical argument. In utter denial while still participating . He gets the idea though, when Kurosawa states that they're done and ignores him for weeks. Guriko gets so mad he can't talk to him he just tackles him one day. It goes downhill from then, but it gets better after.

– Tokio and Butcher have a situationship though.

– Mitsumasa has a typing record 90 words per minute. He's also the only of the four brothers who can speak English.

– Mitsuyoshi and Mashima are dating. (Housen knows its boundaries best. LMFAO)

– Teru knows how to sew. Sewed back multiple uniforms before he made people pay for it.

– Teru also has a countertenor singing voice.

That's about all (?), these are the ones that came to mind! That's still quite a lot, yeah... But it's fun, it's fun <3

1. if you could switch bodies with anybody for only one hour who would it be and what would you do? Hmm. Maybe one of my old athlete buddies (or my younger self) so I could run/sprint again. (Plus do a few exercises from some of my favorite disciplines)

2. what's your most trivial / dumbest hot take? The society in which we live in right now should be collapsed and rebuilt completely. The way humans are living today is not how it's supposed to be

3. if you had to teach a college course what would it be in? Photography or etymology

4. season 12 of shameless is suddenly happen and youve been put in charge! what plot point(s) are you gonna make happen? Fiona finally settles with someone and goes to therapy so she doesn't self-sabotage. Lip falls into a healthy routine with his little family and finds peace. Ian and Mickey get a cat. Debbie resolves her abandonment issues and settles with Franny (and possibly with a long term girlfriend). Carl gets the Alibi running as his own bar. Liam stays the same (but goes to therapy) and finds a hobby. Kev and V raise their daughters in peace and are undisturbed and happy. Not all rainbows and sunshine of course, this all would come with a lot of pain and drama. Just because. Oh, and everyone else goes to therapy as well. (But also I would scrape it all and leave everything as it is.)
