Green on Red - Black Night (1982)
The word menacing comes to mind while listening to Green on Red’s 1982 mini-LP - earlier on in their career, they were much darker and eerie.

Hector J. Guerra is the main impetus behind the band hhhhhh. The band appears to be Los Angeles based. I heard about this release via Austin Town Hall. Nathan Lankford described it as a "classical brand of paisley psychedelia." When I think of that I think of bands like Rain Parade, Green on Red and Three O'Clock.
While I agree that there is a definite psychedelic feel to this, I wouldn't necessarily call it classic paisley (although the song "return receipt" definitely has a classic feel). To me, it recalls the work of Sonny Smith (Sonny & The Sunsets) combined with more folky sounds like Kings of Convenience.
This appears to be self released.

Over 6 months in the making (mostly bc procrastination) but I finally compiled my Kanto Gym Leader Magazine series. I love the idea of an in-universe style fashion publication where they all do interviews about their hobbies and stuff
Want something like this for your own OC? My commissions are open!!

I think that instead of being super apprehensive about Jason and him dating Roy, Oliver should take one look at him and then one look at Bruce and go oh, I'm about to be so annoying.
Oliver starts being so nice to Jason. So nice. Inviting him to family dinners. Giving him both his hero communications and personal phone number and telling him to call whenever he needs something. He gives him new tech and keeps updating his weapons and armor. He helps with missions and clean up and says nothing if Jason is a little rough, apart from patting him on the back and saying good job. He starts keeping his picture inside his wallet and has other pictures of Jason, Roy and Lian framed in the house and tells everyone about him. He starts calling him son-in-law first and then just son and then calls him a Harper and eventually a Queen.
At first it was just to annoy Bruce, but after the first time he tells Jason that he did a good job and Jason starts to tear up a little, Oliver goes oh no, oh I'm actually doing this now. This my boy now. I don't care if he and Roy break up or something, this is my boy now.
Bruce still thinks he's just doing it for the sole purpose of pissing him off, though, and he is so fucking mad. The Justice League meetings have turned into a Cold War zone.
Bruce starts to being so nice to Jason as well, forcing himself to ignore some of the more outrageous things Jason does, and Jason is so, so fucking confused.

Bruce: Roy, let me ask you something. What was the first thing you did after the battle?
Roy: I called Ollie and Dinah to tell them I was okay.
Bruce: And what was the first thing Jason did?
Roy: He ate a banana.

The Dream Syndicate have been a growing favorite over the past decades. My friend Rick was always pushing them, and while I never resisted, I never really embraced the band. However, I can state unequivocally that "That's What You Always Say" was an immediate favorite. "Halloween" soon followed. Then my friend Eric played "The Days of Wine and Roses" at one of our many listening parties.
Then I bought "The Complete Live at Raji's" and got the chance to see the band live. Wow.
I'm probably not telling anyone anything they don't already know. But this reissue of The Day of Wine and Roses by UK-based Fire Records is special. The extras are just incredible. People often list other "Paisley Underground" bands like The Three O'Clock, The Bangles, Green on Red and Rain Parade when discussing The Dream Syndicate. And while I have no doubt those bands were part of a scene, they don't necessarily sound like one another.
To me, The Dream Syndicate recalls the work of True West, The Wipers and Television. Steve Wynn started bands here in Davis, California (with Kendra Smith and later Scott Miller), but he formed The Dream Syndicate in Los Angeles.
