DC really went “what if there was a guy who was smart and powerful and just a genuinely good guy who wanted to use said power to make the world a better place?” And you know what, they were absolutely right. Wherever you go I will be right there with you DC. You give me some disgustingly hopeful tale about a kind hearted reporter who just wants to make everyone happy and I will gobble that shit up every. single. time. Truly THE character of all time.

Yes it would be fucking hysterical if Crowley left the angel and demon """wrestling""" statue in his flat for Shax to find but imagine he shoved it in the back seat of the Bentley with the plants when he moved out. He just forgets about it until Azi is helping him move the plants into the shop and is SWEATING trying to block it from sight because what the FUCK. Hilarious. 10/10 would watch Crowley fight for his life trying to explain that No, angel, they're WRESTLING see they're FIGHTING no I don't know why the artist chose that pose I didn't have anything to do with it I SWEAR. Can we please move on now and never speak of this again.

Heartsick
That's the word that keeps coming to mind to describe how I feel. I live in a country that elected an open fascist and is celebrating it. They weren't fooled, they weren't tricked, they voted for him *because* he's going to hurt people, *because* he's going to take away all of our rights, *because* his hate and cruelty is a reflection of them.
And I... I really thought we were better. Maybe not good, but good enough to look out for one another. That people were generally good, and would rather help someone than hurt them.
It hurts to be wrong. Physically hurts, when I think about what other Americans gave away. To think about all the more vulnerable people who will die because of their greed and stupidity.
I don't think we should despair, but I think we need to be clear-headed about what's coming, about how bad it's going to be and what we're willing and/or able to do.
There are still good people in America. If this election showed how few of us there are, it just means that we need to be kinder to each other.

*grip you by the shoulder* I need your analysis of the relationship between vesper and Keir-
Pretty please 💗
! CHAPTER TWO SPOILERS !
I think the most interesting aspect of Keir and Vesper's relationship is how, despite the circumstances that brought them together, Keir treats Vesper with a surprising level of respect and openness. It’s not something you’d expect in a dynamic like theirs, especially in a setting like the marketplace, where trusting someone—anyone—can be a massive liability.
Vesper is a big liability, after all. Even if they're being blackmailed, even if the reason Keir picks them is because they're disposable, but show promise, it's still a risky decision that doesn't only put his life at risk, but potentially the people in the mouse hole, which he deeply cares about! But the still puts some level of trust in them. Vesper's followed, sure, but he feeds and houses them. He indulges them in banter, lets them poke fun at him even if he complains about how annoying it all is, And most importantly, he answers their questions.
In a place where no one shows their real face, where people don’t even share their real names, information is currency. It’s survival. But he lets Vesper in, just a little. He tells them about himself, about life underground, and makes sure they know enough to stay safe. Even when he withholds things, like the origins of the Ichor, it’s a difficult choice made for a reason.
I think that has a lot to do with, not only his feelings for Vesper, but the community he's surrounded by and how much those values have shaped him. Both his pursuit of doing good or at the very least as good as he can to help as many people as possible and his inherent kindness. As much as Keir insists he isn't a good man, I think it's really fucking clear that he has a strong moral compass, and most of all, a strong will to keep vulnerable, outcasts safe. He goes above and beyond for that goal, and all his actions are informed by that desire to take care of his community.
Vesper is now a part of his community, for better or for worse, and therefore he extends to them the same level of care and respect he'd show to the others. I think one of the things that really struck me was how we get to see the people in the mouse hole, and most importantly, Keir's inner circle, warming up to Vesper! They include them in their day-to-day chores and welcome them relatively quickly. They're all keeping an eye out for the ichor they oh so desperately need, because in a lot of ways, Vesper is just like them. Another outcast, another person in desperate need of that support and community. I like to think that maybe Keir saw that in them too.
They might not fully realise the weight of it, seeing as how the marketplace's culture differs from the surface's, but Keir is painfully aware of all of this all along.
I think especially of the scene where Vesper opens up about their condition. It's a pivotal moment. In a place like the marketplace, that kind of information falling into the wrong hands could be downright catastrophic. But it's easy for them to open up about it, to show Keir that level of trust. This information exposes their fragility, their desperation. And most of all, they're exposing it to their blackmailer. It would be so easy for Keir to turn this show of trust against them, it's easy ammo. But he doesn't. He listens, he empathises.
I think that's the point where things really shift for them. It's a little moment but I think it's so important to shape how their subsequent relationship, and most of all, I think it's what makes his betrayal by keeping the truth about lunar ichor even more painful to Vesper.

Scene idea running through my mind; Lucifer full of despair after having his last meeting with God because he has been told the events of the future and the role he is supposed to play, far far away from everything he has loved, just for their sake, everyone’s sake, maybe even his own— and as he slowly walks, dazed and terrified, the young prince appears from a corner with a gentle smile, coming closer to his aid, worried over his apparent fears. In that instant he finally understands, and asks the naive prince if he wishes to have a taste of the tree of knowledge. When the prince accepts, both flaming souls meet and part away just as quickly. The prince can only realize what the action was when he sees the human do it, their lips meeting, their bodies trying to become whole again before they had been separated.
#bible fandom#archangel michael#lucifer#lucifer/michael#ramble thoughts:#i ahev many versions of lucifer as i have of michael#on of those being that lucifer. more specifically. the satan lucifer. is a being that knows his own future and willingly chooses#to be the executioner. the tester. the betrayer and the 'evil' all for the sake of God's plan. He is god's of his darkest aspects#and the brightest at the same time. he is no crestor of evil#but rather the personification of God's own 'evil' and each angel as well as demon personifies that.#and yet not all angels personify the good as not all demons personify the evil#for the sake of His plan. for the sake of giving everyone the kingdom of heaven. for the sake of Jesus's death not being in vain or for the#sake of everyone’s pain be for naught. he plays the devils advocate so that goodness triumphs in the end. Both Lucifer and God agreed to it#and Michael is one of the few that infers that as well. since he was made to be the extreme of Lucifer. not so much as to be profound#goodness like The Son or the Holy Spirit or even the prophets. but he is the extreme personification of servitude#he serves God as a chief. he serves humanity as a guardian. he serves nature as its rain. he serves justice to the vioceless#and he serves to be the one to cast Lucifer out so that The Satan could exist in the first place. even when it goes against all that he#loves. nein. even when they both have to go against their own love. they choose the world instead.#haha one of them burns the world for love and the other burns himself for love.

Hey quick reminder that "withholding votes" is a logical fallacy.
Voting isn't the SATs. The only points that count are the votes CAST. There are no "negative points" for votes NOT cast.
Nobody counts the people who "withheld their vote." The only votes that count are the ones CAST.
Nobody says "wow, there sure are a lot of people who Didn't Vote For Our Guy! I guess he's is a bad candidate and we should put someone else up next time." That doesn't happen. That's not how it works. There is no such thing as a "withheld vote." There is only the absence of a vote. The only votes that count are the ones cast.
Refusing to vote isn't taking a stand, any more than refusing to speak is when you're asked what you want to have for dinner. Yeah, you may not get exactly what you asked for, but you have more influence than ZERO, which is exactly how much an uncast ballot is worth.
Politics isn't about getting all our wishes fulfilled. Its not about sweeping change. Politics is like lifting, or running, or drawing. it's about WHAT IS POSSIBLE today and tomorrow. It takes sustained work to arrive at lasting change. Politics is a complex tug-of-war where the needle moves a little bit this way, a little bit that way, a little bit the other way. Failing to vote isn't sending a message, it's letting go of the rope. The only votes that matter are the ones cast.
If I don’t like either party's candidate, and I decide to "send a message" by not voting? Yay, me! All I did was FAIL to make a tally AGAINST the other side. I've FAILED to push for a chance to move the window a bit. I've FAILED to help sustain what is, so that I can go lobby and protest and riot and elect super liberal local and state officials and make things better in the future.
And if I fail to be counted, and the other side swallows their misgivings and comes out in droves to be counted? Then they get more votes. And then they WIN. And then they get free, unimpeded reign to decide who is allowed to vote and who isn't.
Vote.
Vote your conscience in the primaries. Vote for survival in the presidential race.
The only votes that matter are the ones cast.

Villainy is so fucking banal and commonplace.
My elderly, Jewish coworker who retired shortly after I started working at my current job, was looking forward to moving to Israel with his wife to be with his children and grandchildren -after all, there would be interesting opportunities for property “becoming available soon”.
Mind you, the man was one of the friendliest guys I ever worked with, a “department grandpa” eager to teach and always happy to share his info and professional network with new hires.
He was also a Zionist looking forward to peacefully retire on blood-soaked Palestinian land.
Take another one of my coworkers. A guy my age, chill and dependable, always there for a chat, knowledgable and helpful, never fails to say hi in the morning, gets you coffee if you’re looking a bit down, you know. The sort of person who makes everyone feel welcome in an office.
He’s a Crypto bro. He admitted to paying Filipino people literal cents to farm crypto shit for him 24/7. He loves gen AI, uses it all the time, and just shrugs at the thought of real people’s jobs (and the planet) being destroyed by this.
I just…
Evil is so fucking banal.
I know, because I find my own convictions paper thin in the face of genuinely nice people who also do shit I’m morally opposed to.
That’s how evil thrives. And I don’t know how we could do better. I don’t know how I could do better.
Maybe it’s just the way of things. We all love comfort and survival more than our principles.

Imagine you just got a promotion. You are very excited, because you have been waiting for this for years and years. For the new position you are transferred to London and move into a very fancy company apartment in Mayfair.
Only to get there and find mail piling up on the doorstep, all the previous tenant’s weird furniture still there and this thing in the hallway:
Tumblr media
Shax *on the phone with Crowley*: "So if the hot water isn't working which button do you have to press? And also: WHY IS THERE A STATUE OF YOU AND AZIRAPHALE DOING IT IN THE BLOODY HALLWAY?
Crowley: "It's art. Evil triumphing over good, actually."
Shax: "Are you kidding me? They are naked."
Crowley: "They are wrestling."
Shax: "Get that thing out of my flat. NOW!"
Crowley: "Nope." *hangs up*

I was expecting this remake to be good (I mean, it's kind of difficult to make a game as perfect as TTYD into something bad), but I was genuinely surprised by just how much love was poured into it. You can really feel the developers' respect for the original game. They could have made a quick-and-easy copy-paste of the original and we would have been grateful enough for that alone. But they took the time to make an already-beloved game into the best possible version of itself. From fully realizing the paper play aesthetic, to cutting out the tedious backtracking, every new detail about this remake was clearly added with such care (yes, even the details I personally wasn't a fan of lol). It's the same familiar and comforting experience from my childhood, and yet it's also fresh and exciting. I never would have guessed that we'd get something like this after so many years of Nintendo awkwardly dodging around the fact that the series just hasn't been quite as good since they abandoned TTYD's gameplay structure and worldbuilding (though I still have an immense amount of love for Super Paper Mario regardless).
Thousand-Year Door holds a very special place in my heart, distinct from the other games I played and loved growing up. It was wonderful to see that the same holds true for everyone who worked on this remake. And even more wonderful to know that now people who were never able to play the original can finally experience what I believe is Paper Mario at its absolute best.

Story Prompt 102
Circling the chair, a tense standoff unfolded between two contrasting figures. One, with an aura of mischief, stood boldly, while the other, marked by recent turmoil, faced them with a mix of defiance and curiosity.
"Come on, join the fun," the mischievous one urged with a playful grin. "Let's stir things up a bit."
The other shook their head adamantly, refusing to be swayed. "I won't be a part of your reckless schemes."
But the mischievous one persisted, undeterred by the rejection. "You can't deny there's a spark between us. Why not embrace it?"
As they bantered back and forth, the tension crackled, reaching a crescendo with the sudden intrusion of a radio broadcast. Its announcement labeled one of them as a fugitive, casting a shadow of suspicion over their interaction.
Curses escaped the accused's lips as their secret was laid bare. The mischievous one couldn't help but feel a surge of intrigue, wondering what secrets lay hidden beneath the surface.
"I got too close to something I shouldn't have," the accused confessed, their voice laced with desperation. "I've been on the run for months."
Moved by their vulnerability, the mischievous one approached cautiously, sensing an opportunity amidst the chaos. As they drew nearer, a forbidden attraction simmered beneath the surface, threatening to ignite.
"What if we took them down together?" the accused proposed, a glimmer of hope in their eyes. "And then you can decide if you want to be the hero."
The mischievous one chuckled, seeing through the facade with ease. "You got yourself caught on purpose, didn't you?"
Caught off guard, the accused hesitated before admitting the truth. "Maybe," they conceded, a hint of mischief dancing in their gaze.
