Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

Gortash is legit the funniest concept for a villain I've ever witnessed. You march with your heroic war band to confront the evil tyrant, fully ready to lay out his manipulations in the throne room in front of the city's government. You know, standard fantasy hero stuff. But then the evil villain goes "Best friend!!!! I'm so glad you could make it 🥰🤗 I missed you so much 🥺"

Honestly, what a power move. It doesn't even matter if he was exaggerating or outright lying. The man saw a threat coming and deployed a tactical disarming strike via the all-too universal feeling of remembering an embarassing thing you did in the past (him, probably) and forcing you to cringe into stunned submission.

huge fan of contemplating bruce wayne’s particular mental illness (intrusive thoughts, suicidal ideation, passive self harm, rituals, mood swings, psychosis, compartmentalisation, some degree of narcissistic control etc) and how relatively normalised it is among his kids but PARTICULARLY wrt dick and cass who i think in many ways embody many of his most destructive traits and being profoundly good and kind people with a great deal of love. in contrast to like. shallow readings of the batman mythos wrt institutionalised mental illness (‘batman beats up the poor’ and such) like wow maybe if anyone in comics could engage w this in a meaningful way would be great. perhaps stigmatisation of disorders generally is bad for everyone
