in the realm of like, rich kid problems, I want to someday read/write a fic where Nightwing is slowly establishing himself as a full-fledged JL member and everyone is relieved because finally, there's a nice Bat on the Watchtower who doesn't just shoot down their plans and deny their mission requests. but. while Nightwing is kind, and polite, and charming in all the ways the Bat isn't, he's still Dick Grayson. and Dick Grayson grew up as a very rich kid's suddenly very rich kid, which is to say while Bruce might not take it personally, Dick has been fending off people almost his entire life who were trying to use him for his Dad's money. which is to say, I think once Nightwing is on board and the relationship between him and Batman is at least somewhat well-known, there is suddenly a rush of younger, less-experienced members trying to take advantage of Nightwing, mistaking that kindness and openness for willingness to either voluntarily, or involuntarily, infringe upon and cross Batman's clear-cut boundaries. bribing Dick for a better monitor shift with Batman is one thing (it doesn't really work, Dick can't bribe Bruce with much as it is) but trying to convince Nightwing to lie to Batman? to go against him? his dad? the man who pulled him up when he had nothing and gave him meaning again? that man?? and then comes the inevitable, chilling realization, that while Nightwing might wear a different mask, might wear an open smile on the Watchtower and with friends off-shift, there are some lines he won't cross, same as Bruce. he won't, sure as the sun rises and the rot rolls off the Gotham Harbor in the morning.

So does anybody else ever think about how Loop felt the need to demonstrate that the party's deaths wouldn't have any effect on the loops. I know I do but that's besides the point. Anyway I don't think Loop actually needs to bathe, they just like to feel included.

So many stories about constellations focus on their permanence - the idea that someone or something was transformed and placed in the sky, immortalizing them. This can be an eternal punishment or warning, but so often it is an honor. A mercy. After all, constellations are beyond the reach of death and pain, and the people and creatures they depict live on in the stories told about them.

These stories are foundational to so many mythologies, and to the forgotten island, with their apparent love of astronomy, these tales would be all the more precious. I think most children from the island would be raised on those stories, myths about the sacred stars and constellations that guide lost travelers home.

Forgotten now, all of them. But the stories we are told affect us long after they have faded from our memory.

And the King was raised on stories where the greatest blessing was a final transformation into a flawless, eternal image. And Siffrin was raised on stories of unchanging constellations that repeat their passage across the sky, year after year, dutifully providing guidance and light long after their stars have burnt out.

Those stories are long forgotten now. Still, they left their mark.

if i failed to protect my kid during the apocalypse and they almost died wandering on their own but got rescued by a team of four competent, battle-experienced adults who cared about them very much and made them feel less scared and useless but refused to let them fight, i think that would be a pretty decent outcome and i'd be pretty okay with it. sure i could dream up a better situation but there's a hell of a lot of worse ones too.

I very much recommend watching Epic the Musical on Youtube.

I know a little about it! Mostly through animatics. I've heard all of "The Horse and the Infant" from ROTTMNT but all I really recall of it is the infant section I heard more recently in a LMK one. I've also seen "Get in the Water", male and female version, but I heard the female version first for an animatic of Hama that's now on Youtube (First link is tumblr, second is youtube).

Everything I've heard so far is a bang-up job! I just keep forgetting to actually check it out.

idk how to put this but in a world where anime with characters who are physically time frozen tend to be like visibly child looking or like given a specific 'visual age' when we really don't need one for the understanding of the character I fuck with adult watanuki looking considerably different even if it's partly due to the trauma and career change and emulating his mother figure. like i like that he very clearly has a different design that's visibly adult and it encompasses ways he's shrunk back into himself and ways he's grown up
