All other trauma aside, there is something very funny about my ex-situationship trying to pathologize my actions as bpd symptoms and cutting me out of his life because he thinks it's impossible to have a healthy relationship with someone you have an fp mentality towards etc etc

When my BPD symptoms were at their worst, I found it usually came down to my relationships. Especially the one with my FP at the time. I was more likely to spiral out of control at anything I could perceive as them not caring about me.

I’d spend all my time looking forward to the next time I saw them. When I wasn’t with them, I’d think about when I saw them next and I’d be likely texting them. A lot.

It wasn’t an overnight thing or a fix by any means, but it really helped me to give myself things to look forward to that weren’t a person.

Things like getting into a new show and looking forward to the next season. Things like planning to be able to have my favourite dinner. Small things. Bigger things. Just things that weren’t a person.

Being able to distract and step back a bit allowed me the space to work on my communication skills and foster healthy relationships. I spiral a lot less. My relationships are better and my happiness is not all based on one person.

Touya Todoroki has BPD.

The scene where he cries to Natsuo looks like what is called ‘splitting’ in borderline personality disorder. Splitting is a defence mechanism against the heightened fear of abandonment that borderlines have. Due to black and white thinking, people with borderline personality disorder are very sensitive to rejection - whether it is real or perceived.

When Natsuo expresses that he’d rather Touya ‘bother Fuyumi’, Touya sees this as Natsuo hating him, seeing him as a burden, and wanting nothing to do with him. In truth, Natsuo is just a child who wants to sleep (I will come for anyone who calls him a bad brother).

Borderline relationships are based on idolisation and devaluing - we either see people as completely good and perfect, or as terrible and evil. These switches in views can be rapid and don’t always have an obvious trigger, or logical reasoning. I believe that for Touya, this is most obvious with how he behaves around Enji. I think as a child, he split on Enji a lot, which is why he flip-flopped between hating him and wanting his attention.

Adding to this, it’s likely that Enji was Touya’s favourite person growing up. In borderline personality disorder, a favourite person is someone who the borderline idealises, is strongly dependent on, and constantly seeks approval from, feeling emotionally distressed without their validation. All borderline relationships are intense and unstable, but FPs even more so. There’s a lot more to it, but that’s the very basic gist, and if it doesn’t scream Touya, then I don’t know what does.

Another symptom of BPD that he clearly has is emotional dysregulation. As a child, we See Touya crying whenever he feels strong emotions (happiness, fear, anger) and this is almost all the time. As an adult, Dabi still can’t regulate his emotions, is prone to emotional outbursts, and grins when he’s grieving. Dabi as an adult also presents with an emotional numbness most of the time, which is common for people with BPD.

Furthermore, people with borderline personality disorder also have an unclear or shifting self image. This means that they may not know who they are in any meaningful way, or their view of themselves may change drastically. Both of these are true for Touya. Dabi said “as a kid I didn’t know why I existed” in the dub, and I don’t know if that is the direct translation from the sub but I’ll use it as evidence anyway. [manga spoilers: “Touya has died, Dabi is born” is an example of shifting self image]

BPD usually develops in childhood as a result of trauma. The neglect that Touya faced as a child definitely makes sense as a cause for the fear of abandonment, lack of emotional control, and unstable attachments that Touya experiences throughout his life.

i (16 sand/dust/it/they) do not have bpd, but my boyfriend (17 he/they/snail/it) does. btw if you're an asshole to my bf because snail has bpd i'll explode you with my brain.

last night, he told me that they just realised i'm its favourite person. i make an effort to be really chill about snails bpd because i've found that is what i prefer myself as someone with my own issues. i understand that we are different people so we'll have different needs. furthermore, i have bipolar disorder and they have bpd so even our conditions are very different. however, i feel like making a big Thing out of my bf's bpd would just make things awkward and uncomfortable for it. besides, i never really think about their bpd. i just think about how much i love this stupid dork (affectionate).

so when he told me snail thinks i'm his fp, i literally just responded with "holy moly. neato" because. that's how i felt about the situation. we both had a little laugh about it before going onto the next topic. they didn't seem hurt about my mellow reaction at all and hasn't been acting any differently. when i asked if my reaction was a normal one my bf said that snail didn't know and we just had a laugh about that too.

this could just be me being worried over nothing, but was i the asshole for being too chill about it? i know that favourite people mean a LOT to someone with bpd (is there a better term the bpd community uses? sorry i'm not really familiar-) and i'm worried that me being too calm may have given the impression that i don't care or that i disregarded his feelings. they didn't seem hurt At All but i'm still really worried because i care about him and don't wanna hurt snails feelings

also, side note, i'm really sorry if i said anything that is offensive to people with bpd or that is wrong or otherwise just. not something i should say about this. i have no clue what is considered appropriate and i would definitely appreciate a correction if i got something fucked up.

What's a FP? I've seen the term a lot, but never been able to figure out what it means

Favourite/Favorite Person (FP) is basically someone a person with BPD idolizes and looks up to or looks to for attention. What an FP entails varies so there’s a lot of definitions but in summary it’s like. The most important person in the person with BPD’s life and their whole world tends to revolve around their FP. The relationships can be unhealthy if proper boundaries aren’t set.

If there’s boundaries (it also helps with the person with BPD is in therapy), then it can be a healthy relationship. Sometimes people with BPD can be each others FPs. You can also have multiple FPs and your connection to them can be to different extents (like one FP is “above” another if that makes sense).

(hopefully I got all that right TvT I have BPD and FPs but I’m still worried I wrote it wrong lmao)

Have an on-the-fly Hiori narrative theory cos new chapter brainrot. I love when storytellers seed future payoff simply, and in plain sight.

Hiori is a kind, polite person. He is extremely mild-mannered. No one would imagine him capable of thinking about his parents this way.

This panel in chapter 206 is horrifying. You're taken aback by it. It's a nod to the FPS games Hiori loses himself in, but nevertheless. Yes, his parents are scumbags, but imagining shooting this way borders on the perverse. Maybe Hiori's not as mild-mannered as he seems.

Then we get back to the main plot, which is Isagi's story. Isagi knows nothing about Hiori's background. We're back to seeing him as calm, kind, measured, but dispassionate. Exactly how everyone in Blue Lock perceives him.

Although you expect Hiori to be subbed in during this match, enough time and chapters pass that the memory of Hiori's flashback dulls. You pay attention to Hiori having metavision and his synergy with Isagi. You don't think about how much darkness there might be inside Hiori.

Flash forward to this week's chapter. It starts with a reminder of his upbringing, but we also get this unseen memory. It shows Hiori in his own stratum, during the penalty game. He's in Team Z too, going by the numbering. Notice how viciously he shoots that ball at another player: right to the face. By choice.

Hiori's an accurate passer. He could have aimed anywhere on the body and hit, but he chose this guy's head.

Again, not the level of brutality you'd expect from this character, even in a situation of live or die. Make no mistake, leaving Blue Lock is as good as death to Hiori, because it means returning to his parents.

But we already knew he was capable of imagining it.

Just before, in chapter 232, Hiori substitutes into the game at Isagi's urging, but finds it hard to be effective. He has a shattering realisation of what he's up against. His teammates and opposition are on a different level.

The darkness in his eyes is something we've seen in other characters before (representing flow), but damn if it doesn't look spooky on Hiori. This is meant to be jarring. We're subconsciously being told to alter our perception of him as a character. Remember, he's not as unfailingly nice as he seems.

Hiori is juxtaposed against Isagi frequently, with good reason. The manga's protagonist is a character who's somewhat meek in personality, but turns into a raging egoist during matches. Isagi shows a different side of himself on the field. And as Hiori himself said during their conversation with Noa in chapter 230, substituting him would be like having two Isagis playing.

As a reader, you think he's speaking in terms of metavision/game sense. He is...

But this final panel from chapter 233 makes me believe it's not just that Hiori has in common with Isagi. Here's where we get into theory territory.

The chains are coming off Hiori, representing the expectations his parents and everyone else have for him. He's done repressing what he wants, his true ego.

This will alter his way of playing. While we don't have too long to wait (bless weekly manga releases), I wager it's as much to do with physicality and riskiness as it does his use of metavision. His interception of the ball from Barou may support this.

His parents brought him up in cotton wool. He trained and ate well. He avoided injuries. He played impressively in the manga before now, but that performance was mediocre in comparison to the top players in Blue Lock.

It's not enough on the battlefield of Bastard Munchen v Ubers, and Hiori knows this.

We're about to see a very different side to our soft-spoken sheep boy. Something far less polite and polished. It could be what makes Isagi king of this match. Time will tell.

He has had one of my favourite arcs so far, and I cannot wait to see how it ends.

Obviously BPD is a disorder thats more than just FPs (you can have BPD without having them) so you'd have to see if he fits the criteria for it... other symptoms include an extreme fear of abandonment, identity disturbance, black & white thinking, intense emotions, fast mood swings ect ect....

As for OLD, it's kinda up for debate on if its an actual disorder or not, it's not in the DSM or ICD or anything but there is research on it, and it's usually linked with OCD, erotomania or BPD again;; here's a good article on it cause this response is getting long lol

Thank God there are more people like you here. When I found your page I scrolled for hours and I was at peace. It is so refreshing to see Rudy's fans not hating on him, like others that calls themselves fans. I am fan of this show for almost 3 years, I still remember the first day I watched it and from that day jj was my favourite. Not only him but Rudy. You know when you feel so happy to see that person posted, to watch every interview of him and so. I then found about elaine and till this day I am following her, fell in love with her page, her photography and her love and support for Rudy. Then I saw people hating on her, wondered why and the searched a little bit abou it. And let me tell you there are some sick dumb people here. To do everything and try to destory his happiness?...

Then the rumors started about him leaving and man I don't blame him. I am glad that so many people are angry. They should be, I know I am. I hope that the reaction resonates with Netflix and the writers. Unfortunately, a big chunk of this fandom is extremely immature (and borderline sociopathic) as demonstrated in all the past years. So much of the anger is completely misdirected, ironically at the actor who is actually the victim of all this bullshit. He just wants to protect himself and his loved ones from this crazy mob mentality, a toxic work environment and from being held hostage by restrictive contracts that don’t let him explore other projects. Gonna have to say ULTRAKILL

Massive rant about it and a few other games below

The fast-paced first person shooter has literally everything I would want for a fps. Cool mechanics (slam-storage, railcoin, chargeback), not much dialogue (the only time you're forced to listen to someone talk without being able to fight it's either skipable or at the very end of the act). The boss fights are incredibly fun, like I would gladly replay any of them just for fun. The P-Rank makes the game very replayable and the reward of getting to fight an even more difficult boss is so worth it.

Plus, despite not getting all that much screen time, the main characters/bosses in ULTRAKILL are very memorable.

Like Gabriel, who was seen as a disgrace by the angel council for losing to you, a simple machine. The council removes his holy light and will perish in 24 hours. Instead of enjoying his time left, he decides to fight us once more, enraged by what you've done to him. Half way through the fight, he starts laughing, genuinely enjoying the combat with you. When he looses, he comes to the realisation of how corrupt the angel council was and does the only reasonable thing and kills every single member. He'll still die though.

The concept itself is very interesting as well. You're a war machine that runs on blood and you're going to kill everything until there's nothing left. Humanity is dead so you travel through hell killing husks, machines and even gods. This plays into the gameplay and mechanics of the game more than you'd expect.

The mechanics in the game are so so fun. There's the basics like being able to slide and groundslam. But with your first unlockable weapon, the marksman, it opens up new opportunities for tech and all that gun does is allow you to throw a coin which if you shoot, it guarantees a bit on any nearby enemies. And that's just one weapon. Then you've got the ability to parry projectiles which. Funnily enough, the shotgun pellets count as a projectile so when you "parry" them after shooting, it causes an explosion. It's honestly my favourite way to rack up style points but I can't do complex tech like chargebacks and dead coining. The addition of a style meter makes you want to play in a way which gets you the most stylish way possible.

As well as the main story levels, there's an endless arena area called the Cybergrind where you try and survive for as long as possible while killing enemies stylishly. As with most endless modes, it gets more difficult the longer you survive with harder waves spawning and the introduction of radiant enemies (enemies with more health, speed and damage). This makes Ultrakill infinitely replayable as people try to get the highest score on it. My best is wave 23 on Violent and 25 on Standard.

I'm definitely not the best at it, I haven't P-ranked most of Layer 7 and I haven't even gotten past the many enemies to complete P-2 but this game is great and I can't wait to see what waits for us in the rest of act 3

Honourable mentions to Half Life and TF2. Both are great games by Valve which will never get a third installment.

TF2 is so much fun but the bot problem has really been ruining it. I hope VALVE actually try to fix it after this #savetf2 movement. I personally main Medic which just means I can't aim to save my bloody life- I love the characters, their personalities and playstyles. They're all so unique yet yet stereotypical at the same time. I love the meet the team shorts and how well they establish the characters. This as well as their adventures in the comics really shows the world of TF2 well. The various hats you can get are unique and allow you to make the mercs your own (I have watched death of an art style but I don't think that the cosmetics are the biggest problem for TF2 right now-). The community is completely insane and I'm glad we're all still here after everything the game has been through. I love the fan-made projects so much. The various sfm animations talented creators have made never fail to impress. Like Emesis Blue, a psychological horror movie about the TF2 mercenaries made entirely in SFM, a software that's around as old as TF2 itself! TF2 is really being carried by the community and thank you to anyone who contributes, you guys are incredible. I know I've gone off about the community more than the actual game but without the community, there would be no TF2. But yeah TF2 is amazing, I miss the PS3 version as that was how I first played TF2 when I didn't have a pc.

Half Life as a game series is absolutely incredible. Valve completely changed the opinion of FPS games and the gameplay as a whole. The slower build to the resonance cascade, the scientists chatter, the interactivity as a whole contributes so much to the world building if the first game. The combat options were unique and fun to experiment with while providing interesting enemies to use them on. Of course, the Xen chapters were a bit bland but they still set the atmosphere of what was to come. And Black Mesa's complete remake of Xen completely fixes that if you do have a major issue with it.

Half Life 2 completely blew my mind the first time I played it. I had never seen anything to do with Half Life (except the references to it in TF2) so when I played it, it was amazing. Just like TF2, I first played it on the PS3. There's not many differences except the load times (which were horrid) but I still completed the game.

I hardly remember anything from my first play through of Episode 1 but I did get really attached to Alyx. Oh and I found the kleiner broadcast funny. Episode 2 is a completely different story. I loved every single second of it (there weren't achievements on PS3 version so I didn't do the gnome challenge and it shows-). The car section was fun. I liked looking for those supply crates and doing the physics puzzles to get to them. Hunters were really fun to fight but once I discovered they get instakilled by the jalope, I just started running them over. Made the final sequence much easier. The helicopter fight was interesting. And the ending. Oh my god, the ending. I ain't gonna lie, that shit hurt. It's a shame they rewrote it for Half Life Alyx.

Speaking of Half Life Alyx, I never got to play it but it looks incredible. I hope to be able to play it some day but right now, I have to stick to watching playthroughs.

I love Half Life but at this current moment I prefer ULTRAKILL, may change.

So hi, hello, this is my first ever ask blog so don't mind if I seem like I don't know what I'm doing - because I don't.

What's 'Altogether Now Au'?

Altogether Now is my silly lil Rain World AU dedicated to putting these slugcats together like a DnD party and throwing them into scenarios. This blog decides to take place after the initial major story elements of the au for the purpose of having these scugs already in an established group.

This means the scugs have already met FP, LttM, and are currently deciding to just explore and live - seeing what happens. There are very certain story events that do not take place, or are altered, so feel free to send asks about the 'campaign' timeframe, the present 'explore and be a funky lil group' or even about the future of the scugs (just mention it in your ask please!)

Who's available to ask?

As of now, only the main slugcats (and one oc). In the future, other ocs might be available to ask, but I doubt I'll add the iterators themselves to be recipients. They can be drawn as an answer but you'd have to ask a slugcat.

Any plans for this blog?

At some point, I want to add my gijinka's of the characters into the mix, but to start off with I'm going to stick with the regular scugs!

For those who don’t know what transabled is, it’s a transID label that means “You don’t have a certain disability but WANT one or BELIEVE you should have one.” TransBPD is just the BPD version where “You don’t have BPD but WANT BPD or BELIEVE you should have it”. I DO NOT SUPPORT TRANSABLED OR TRANSBPD, AS SUCH, THEY CANNOT USE THIS LABEL.
