Mistakes I made when I was counting calories
When I discovered I could count calories to lose weigh, I felt like I have found a perfect solution to control my weight.
I was in my leanest body in August of 2019 that I've ever being by counting calories and doing intermittent fasting, but I was still over eating.
All my attempts so far to lose weight weren't in vain, the mistakes helped me see what works for me.
In April of 2024, I can say ingesting nutrients and vitamins your body need, is key to have cravings under control. The food that I've eating during my life full in sugar will come to my mind, but I'll see it and don't have the action to buy and eat it.
Today at 28y I can say I never had problems with appetite, I've always loved eating, it made me happy, but I shouldn't have created the habit of eating so much of ultra processed food. Because by eating it so often I was feeding a addiction.
Not everybody is addicted to sugar, but I'm and by realizing it I can act on it to avoid eating it on a daily bases.

It is said that when you feel like you are trudging through mud (metaphorically speaking) and getting nowhere it means you are about to “level up” or shed your old skin. When you’re in it it feels like you won’t survive, or the ugliest parts of you will make an appearance, only to be riddled with guilt afterward.
It has only been 12 days into the new year, and I feel like I’ve survived and endured an entire years worth of lessons. Patience, sanity and self-worth has all been tested to what feels like the extremes.
But, each day is a new beginning. A fresh start, a do-over, to recommit, to draw from lessons learned, to grow.
Recently I have given myself permission to cut out, delete, remove anything from my life in any capacity that does not bring me joy, or positive thoughts or feelings without guilt. It’s beginning to turn from being envious (for no apparent reason other than comparing and allowing myself to feel unworthy), to empowered. Acknowledging that something is causing me to stress or self-sabotage and removing it has made me feel in control and proud.
Society has riddled us from the time we are young that we (especially as women) must act, be seen, and look a certain way. And if we deviate we are meant to feel guilty, or unworthy because we do not “measure up” to unattainable (natural) expectations.
I’ve created life, I nourish that life and I am proud. I am not going to subject myself to a lifestyle that creates a negative relationship with food and activity. I’m going to do it and eat it because it feels good and nourishes my body and soul, not because I want to lose 30lbs…
I want to be the example I didn’t necessarily have.

I finished my program on Saturday and although I have allowed myself to venture from the meal plan, I have found that much of my eating hasn’t changed at all. That is why I love these programs; it’s a LIFESTYLE change, not a diet or a quick fix. But in saying that I realize that many people don’t want to endure an 80 day long workout program just to get the results they want (or possibly don’t want to workout at all). Workouts are one component to healthy living, but having a good relationship with food and understanding what your body responds well to is even more important. #Confessiontime: I have begun my journey back to a #healthy #foodrelationship. . I am seeing a therapist and dietician as part of an #eatingdisorder management team at #UCF. My first meeting with the dietician was yesterday and I am jumping in with both feet! Here is my first meal, not perfect, but I don't expect to be perfect. I've got grains, dairy, veggies, fruit and protein. (#andcoffeeofcourse) . My dietician has recommended no more keto. (I don't think it is a bad way to go but it didnt work for me). I am to make sure I get every single food group on my plate at every meal. She also asked me to stay away from artificial sweeteners to see if that could be messing with my body's hunger cues. I have sorely missed fruit so this is one change I can really get behind. . I have tried so many restrictive diets and trendy things to get my weight and eating under control and now I'm going to try to simply listen to my body. What a novel concept. . I cleaned the fridge and pantry yesterday and am heading to #Aldi later with a list full of fresh and whole foods. #whosexcited!?!? #thislionessis!!!! . #goals: 1. I love food, we love food! I love watching my kids eat and enjoy their food. I know that my relationship with food and the healthy outlook I want my girls to have starts with me. I know women have more struggles with food than men. I know some of us carry feelings of guilt for what we eat and how we feel afterwards.
