Dieting doesn't need to suck balls πŸ’ . One common misconception about dieting that it's about who can be the most extreme and suffer the most ... this is nonsense πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ . The amount of times I've heard/seen people ban their favourite foods, go cold turkey... πŸ₯Ά . Only to be miserable, crave those foods even more, go all out on those 'banned' foods and feel guilty as a consequence πŸ˜”πŸ₯Ί . It genuinely doesn't have to be this way πŸ₯³ . As dieting is all about energy balance ... which is eating an amount of calories that is less than the amount of calories you burn... it's simply about fitting those foods into those calories 😎 . I wouldn't advise JUST having those foods, as a diet of chocolate, ice cream and pastries probably isn't going to be too filling... but it can be done . Just maybe in a smaller amount that usual e.g smaller slices/portions/servings than usual, surrounded by the more nutritious and healthful stuff such as fruits, veggies, legumes, protein etc πŸ€“ . So there is no need to ban foods when dieting... it's just about having them in more suitable amounts and frequencies for your diet πŸ™ŒπŸ» . Hope you all are having a great day so far . Weight loss is easy, weight maintenance is hard . There is a fairly unreliable stat that gets thrown around a lot that states 95% of people who diet fail... and then regain the weight they have lost . I would say that those diets didn't fail... they just failed to help people sustain their lower weight . The reason? . They fail to establish habits and behaviours that dictate long term weight management . For example if you 7 kg / 14lbs in body weight . You will require less energy to fuel your body . This will be around 100-200 kcals less per day (700-1400 calories per week) for the rest of your life to maintain that weight loss . This can be achieved by reducing the food that you eat each day by 100-200 kcals . Which is the equivalent of - A small snack - Half a pack of rice - 2 slices of bread . Or increasing your energy expenditure by 100-200 kcals per day . Which is the equivalent of - Around 30-40 mins walking - Around 45 mins of leisurely cycling - Around 15-20 mins running . Or a combination of the both which is more likely and easier to maintain . As you can see some of these changes may seem small . But they need to be consistent and habitual most; if not, every day . Just to maintain that new lower weight . This is why short term quick fixes don't often work . As you don't build the routines and habits to help make these small changes permanent . Maybe that's what these WL companies want though... to get more πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’° πŸ€” when you come back 😬 . This is why; when done right, coaching is more than just diet plans and calorie deficits! . You need to reshape your habits and behaviours . With a weight loss method to suit your lifestyle and food preferences . Every dam time! πŸ™ˆ . This doesn't make sense... in theory potentially, but there are so many caveats . Why mashed? What happens if I slice it up? Doesn't it become mashed when I chew it anyway? πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ . So.... how about we stop worrying about if the banana is mashed or not . Or feeling bad for having too many made up 'syns' in your day . Here a few more practical tips - Enjoy your fruit, try to have it whole but mashing and slicing are fine too - Try to each predominantly whole foods, slowly and a decent protein source at each meal - Have a little bit of food that you fancy most days, enjoy it but also understand what food makes you feel good in the long run... not just in the moment - Keep hydrated and be mindful of drinking calories - Move and enjoy life... exercise is a wonderful tool for health so try to feel healthier each day in the way you move, eat, rest, socialise and think .
