I've only known them for a day, but is it too early to ask for nsfw headcanons for Laughingstock yan-
(Been a while since I've done one of these so sure - murder bastard gets nsfw hcs)
Laughingstock- Murder Streamer Yan Nsfw Hcs
Warnings: themes of Sadomasochism, filming, dubious consent, breathplay, fear of death, degration/light violence, victim blaming, spit kink
Laughingstock's general demeanor when it comes to sex majorly depends on their darling's personality as it does with most aspects of their relationship.
• If they are the softer, reserved or shy/quiet type Stock is far more gentle and into mutual care. Their pleasure is almost as if not more important than his, and he makes constant check ups/is sure to smothers them in affection and praise them for taking him so well. May try to make them laugh or assure them things are okay if they are too tense during the ordeal.
Laughingstock does express sadomasochistic tendencies and can't help but getting a little excited at the thought of roughing up their love just a bit - even if they feel slightly guilty deep down. Pain has always been pleasure for them and that of course carries over to the bedroom. At best he tries to ease them into the idea of running his favorite blade over their thigh or having them run it over his. Hushes them softly as he wrap his hands around their neck, kissing away their tears and reminding them to steady their breathing as he squeezes. Laughingstock may get a little too eager seeing them struggle, but immediately stops if their pulse weakens.
Ushers them off for aftercare and a night full of kisses and almost anything their heart desires as thanks and reward for everything Laughingstock had put them through.
• If their darling is mean or the type to fight back, all pleasantries are gone. Laughingstock doesn't even pretend to care about getting them off because why should an ungrateful brat get anything from them. Threatens to carve another letter of their name into darling's skin everytime they finish without permission and calls them some manner of derogatory term for doing so. Belittles and pushes them around for every rude comment they've made, shouting if they'd feel better if he just got rid of them whenever he chokes or holds a knife to their throat. He usually is just trying to scare them as they're much cuter and tolerable when they're afraid. Pulls their hair, spits down their throat and tells them it hurts him as much as it hurts them for their behavior.
Rare to little aftercare - dumps them in the tub and tells them the now cold food they refused to eat is still in their room if they're hungry.
• Big into breathplay. As someone who works with death on the daily, having their darling's life in their control or his in theirs is the most romantic thing. Laughingstock can take more than them being basically immortal and loses his mind at the thought of his darling riding him while pulling his noose until he's pale in the face
Loves choking his darling whether it's with his hands or on his cock and even more so to trail his spit into their mouth during the former as they gasp for air.
• Often films tapes with their darling, but not for their audience. Laughingstock is far too selfish to show their precious to others and doesn't see the need as their regular content draws enough attention, but enjoys lying and telling their darling to smile for the crowd anyway. Helps prevent them from dragging their darling into the room after a successful stream as their adrenaline is high and their libido is higher
If they ever were to livestream with their darling they'd make them wear a mask so nobody sees their pretty face except him which feeds into their love of dress up. Sooner or later somebody's putting on a skirt and Stock honestly doesn't care if it's them or darling
•Oral fixation goes hard. Loves receiving head, but with that long tongue of theirs and a cutie in their position giving is almost better. Has to have a part of their darling between their teeth when runting into them, favorites places to bite being their shoulders/neck, fingers or thighs.
• Flexible. The type of mf you could push their leg past their ear.
• Close notes uhh cock's about 7 inches, bit on the thicker side, the head is pierced. Their tongue is pierced too. Would probably cum harder if their darling accidentally bite their dick while giving oral. Sensitive nipples, very easy to overestimate. Tried to get those pierced, but ended up nutting whenever the needle touched their skin and wasn't able to go through with it without blacking out

its been months since i watched puss in boots: the last wish, and i havent stopped thinking about how good it is. specifically, how it used its own genre as a plot device
when you go in to watch an animated family film, you think, surely no character will die in this. or if they do die, theyll probably fall off a cliff and land offscreen or something. no one actually brutally dies in a cartoon. theyre not even allowed to show blood! but then puss DOES bleed. and just as that scene is the turning point that makes him realize that hes not invincible, it makes the audience realize that this movie can get dark
but its not like the entire movie is grimdark after that. its still a family film! silly stuff still happens! its just that every so often in the middle of all the silliness, the wolf appears, and both we and puss are violently reminded that he very much can die die. this doesnt affect any of the other characters' goals, because why would the prospect of puss's death affect them? but for puss, who thought he was immortal, it's enough to send him into a fucking panic attack. it's a perfect illustration of how concepts like death are always lurking in the background
and i havent even started talking about THE SONG!! when i first saw this movie and heard puss singing fearless hero in the beginning, i thought, "oh, this is a musical!" but its NOT. no other song is sung by the characters throughout the film, but the same song is sung over and over, and it fits because puss is trying desperately to hold on to his past glory as a "fearless hero." and the lyrics: "Who's the gato who rolls the dice? / And gambles with his life?! / Who's never been touched by a blade? / Puss in Boots is never afraid!" hearing them the first time, they sound like normal lyrics youd hear in a song about how heroic a character is, but then it turns out to be clever foreshadowing because these traits (gambling with one's life, pretending youre never afraid, etc) are the very traits that puss had to let go of in the end to finally be able to confront death. i could go on and on about how amazingly this song was used in the movie, but the point is that they never would have been able to pull it off if this werent a family movie where characters bursting into song is seen as normal
seriously, this movie is SO cleverly done. even the fact of it being a 10-year-late sequel adds to the whole idea of puss being a past legend at the start. like, the concept of someone trying to evade death has been done many times already in other forms of media, but the way that puss in boots 2 executed it could ONLY have been done as an animated PG shrek spinoff
its SO SO GOOD and i hope to god it wins the oscar for best animated film

Okay last little idea and I'll leave you be for a bit
Xiao actually responding to the names the creator gives him. Little Friend, Pretty Bird, ect. No matter how far away you are, if you call those names, he has to stop himself from turning into a bird and flying away at that very moment. Those pet names are as much his name as any other he's kept.
-sibling anon
me when xiao
in his time with you in his adeptal form, xiao has never told you his name.
and yet, he still hears you.
if he’s in the area and the wind brings him the softest call of “you here, little friend?” he morphs in an instant, instinct taking over as he flies to your summons. he ducks through the trees, landing gracefully in your outstretched hand, meeting your wide smile with a chirp.
“there you are,” you mumble, and he ruffles his wings in an approximation of standing straighter. he is here. for you.
he’s commonly perched on your index finger, or your thumb if he’s eating from your palm. you only feed him simple almonds, yet it tastes of a delightful meal, energy coursing through his body. he’s careful not to nick your skin in his eagerness, but nobody could blame his enthusiasm if they knew what he felt.
by sitting in your hand, he is rested. by staying at your side, he is healed. he still upkeeps his duties, ever vigilant, but he’s quicker now, spurred on by something—someone—to return to. his place is at your side, and he hates keeping you waiting.
even when he has to.
xiao crossed his arms over his chest, staring off at liyue’s plains while he waited for the traveller to finish talking with… whoever. he honestly wasn’t paying attention. all he was there for was the lost adeptal artifact that the commissioner had promised he had, and then he would be on his way.
the man said something with a tilt to his tone. the traveller laughed. xiao grit his teeth.
“friend? little buddy? where are you?”
the call pulled at his soul as every other name he held, and he itched to answer.
paimon made a comment, an ooh! tossed somewhere in the middle, and xiao snapped.
“can we wrap it up? this is not a proper use of an adeptus’ time.”
the man swiftly apologized, handing over the totem, and xiao all but snatched it from his hand. a ‘farewell’ may or may not have slipped from him in time for the traveller to hear, he wasn’t sure. all he knew was that one moment he was dropping the totem off at his room at the inn, and the next he was leaping off the balcony, shifting mid-air to fly towards you.
he let out a loud cry when he spotted you, tucking in his wings to dive. you saw him and held out your hand, a motion so familiar that the actions to land were muscle memory.
he flared his wings, slowing his fall, flapping once, twice, before settling on your index finger. your thumb reached up, as it always did, and he leaned into it, repressing a coo at the feeling of it smoothing over his back.
“there you are, my pretty bird. where were you?”
a shiver rolls down his small body at your words, and he hides behind your thumb. you had many names for him—little friend, blue bird, simply blue—but pretty bird?
your pretty bird?
he’s hot in a way he can’t identify, a melting mix of emotions filling his chest. pride, admiration, adoration, even, all blurring into a messy film that covered his mind.
you turned towards your camp, keeping the hand with him perched close to you. “doesn’t matter. you’re here now, pretty bird. i missed you, you know.”
and you missed him?
xiao’s known for a while that the one on the throne wasn’t truly his god, but now he’s wondering if you were. the swell of confusing feelings was proof enough; were you anybody else, mortal or immortal, god or adepti, he’d have surely struck you down for your behavior long ago. cooing over him as if he were a mere household pet, feeding him scraps of crushed fruit, calling him such names as ‘pretty bird’- he’d have morphed back the second he was strong enough, held his blade to your throat and called you insolent and ungrateful. he’d leave you with a scar, and yet here he was, apologizing for the one he did leave in any way he could.
you carefully poured some almonds pieces in your palm, and he shifted to your thumb as you sat. were you anybody else, you would be dead. but your eyes are still open, carefully watching him, and your heart still beats blood. he can feel your pulse through his claws, sometimes, and often finds his own slowing down to match it.
you had an adeptus eating from the palm of your hand, and yet you were none the wiser. you simply propped your head in your free hand, a gentle smile on your face.
“my pretty bird,” you said quietly, and xiao’s eyes closed of their own volition.
yours.

If you got any more serial killers oc I would give them death game powers.
Oh let me share some of my little SCAMPS.
Sue. E is a sort of Carrie-esque slasher, instead of just getting blood dumped on her-she had a whole pig head shoved on her head. Her name is a pun on Sooey, which is the noise you make to call a pig.
Calvin Black is also known as Prom King; he was a queer teen who was voted Prom King and then brutally murdered by the Prom Queen's infuriated boyfriend and his crew thinking Calvin's plan was to fuck the Prom Queen. He comes back as an undead revenant hell bent on revenge for his brutalization and torture. Calvin Black is just the masculine form of 'Carrie White' (I like the movie Carrie.)
Ephriam is a relatively harmless slasher. He lives on a pig farm with his parents and a violent accident involving a shot gun is what destroyed his face and ancient power on the property near the woods made him akin to a Shape-a semi-immortal,borderline mute creature with supernatural strength. He accidently wanders onto a porn film shoot and is persumed to be the 'hung talent' they were waiting for. No. He's just the local farmer's son who is very eager and amicable. He's a reference to Vincent from House of Wax and Bubba from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Mortimer isn't a slasher himself. But he is a happy accomplice to one as well as the enabler. His girlfriend is the sack faced Jackie who essentially is a homeless girl who welds a supernatural talking blade called Slashy that has passed hands of hundreds of 'Jacks' in history. Mortimer is her eager enabler, supporter, and number one fanboy.
I tragically have no proper art of Undead Ted because I can't settle on a design for him. But he's a Camp Ground slasher. He was once the grounds keeper of a Summer Camp and was well beloved until while trying to intervene on some councilors horrifically abusing a camper resulted in his death and his body being hidden on the property. Now he's violently hunting them down now the summer camp has reopened.
A new one that came up tonight is a Model whose face was corroded by toxic skin care products and as a result, she goes around killing people and harvesting their skin to give herself DIY skin grafts and her named is Scarlet; she's a reference to female rage movies as well as Patrick Bateman. No art of her yet. Maybe later.

For the comic nerds:
I have a working theory for something I’m a bit obsessed with, and am hoping there are enough eyes and ears still here to hear me
So, one of my all-time favorite comic book characters is Ghost Rider. Johnny, Danny, Alejandra, not so much Robbie just because the source of his powers is weak af but that muscle car is untouchable, so whatever.
And you can’t beat the look - a flaming skeleton, dressed head to toe in pure, vintage-metal-esque spiked leather, riding a flaming motorcycle. It makes sense that the comics only survived on visuals and not story.
Then there’s that nonsense of GR’s story, and the origin of its powers. In the original line he had made a deal with Satan, which was later retconned to Mephisto, Marvel’s cheap, domesticated knockoff. And at their peak, GR was strong enough to take on any and all of the Avengers single handed, including Hulk; the only thing stopping Hulk from being incinerated being GR’s code - only persecute the guilty, protect the innocent. Given that Hulk was attacking guilty parties, GR backed out from lack of interest but that’s a whole other story.
My point, now, is as rumors are going around about The Rider finally joining the MCU - yeah, Robbie (and possibly Johnny) in Agents of Shield is a thing, but also, no - how does a character that sources its powers from the Judeo-Christian pantheon fit into this world?
This world that already includes mythical characters from Norse (Thor, Loki, etc.), Egyptian (Black Panther/Bast, Moon Knight/Khonsu), Chinese (Fenghuang, Hundun), and Greek mythology (Zeus, Hercules, versions of The Immortals), but the only mentioning of Christianity (that I remember) is that one line from the first Avengers film - also notably pre-Disney - when Cap says “there’s only one god.” One might also consider nods from Dr. Strange mentioning the Keys of Solomon, which take inspiration from Judaism, Roman Pagan, and early Christian beliefs.
My theory is that they cannot introduce Ghost Rider straight from the comics to the MCU for a few reasons: maybe it’s the Superman problem, where the character is too strong to give a fitting challenge; or, my personal favorite, they don’t want to put Christianity on the same level and Norse mythology, or Greek, or Egyptian because maybe, for a big company like Disney, it’s fine to make a story about those religions because they’re just stories, but they consider Abrahamic religions as truth, and therefore feel less comfortable putting that into works of fiction.
This may be part of why Blade is taking so long too, since vampires are abominations and cannot walk into the light of “God.”
I guess this is more of a rant that a question. I really want to enjoy when Ghost Rider joins the fray, but I have consistently been let down by Disney Marvel as of late, and have little to no hope for their future. I mean, how can a character that literally killed “capital-G” God in the comics, who is stronger than Thor and Hulk, immune to the powers of Strange, fit into this world?
P.S., was Christian God retconned in the comics to The One Above All?
TLDR: Disney is kinda Christian, Ghost Rider is loosely based from Christianity. Does including him in the MCU make Judeo-Christian mythology equal to fiction in the eyes of Disney, hence their hesitance to include it?

-
Graham: oooooooh, do i spy some Shale?
Dani: how is that better than subway monsters?
-
Kade: I’ll try to listen to you next time, and not, y’know, pull a kade.
Heatwave: Seriously, that’s a thing now?
Kade: It’s all about branding.
-
Blades: It’s a cautionary tale on Mole Monsters! And everyone could use a lesson on chainsaw saftey!
-
Cody: This appears in like all of my dreams. i’m cradeling a moon made of my own tears???? who knows what that’s about.
Frankie: ... i have some theories.

Choices Insiders July 2024
This ended up coming in earlier than usual. I must admit when I saw the email this morning, I thought "Oh yeah, forgot about that", (I was not properly awake) but then I realised it was a day early.
Anyway, let's take a look.
I get the sense that this slasher uses a different knife for each kill and that maybe he wears a pumpkin on their head.
Until a name is revealed, I am dubbing this slasher as Pumpkin Joe.
The idea of having a festival to celebrate seems... different. I'll be interested to see what kind of character the MC is as to whether it will follow the slasher genre trope of a group of teens or if it will be adult characters.
This seems like it could be used for one or two sections. One could be a flashback as to when Joe was originally caught. The other could be set when the book will be and it is the discovery of one of the victims.
The only way I could see The Deadliest Game continuing beyond the Nick Gallant mystery is if they go down the route of having a spinoff as I don't see how a second story could bring together MC, Farah, Dante, and Jun. But that's just me, I could be wrong.
I feel like we won't see anything more for Immortal Desires this year. But the wait probably won't be as long as it was for BK2 since this time it has the greenlight from the get go.
I'll be interested to see what Crimes 3 is like. Chances are it will focus on the mystery of MCs father and what really happened.
Going by this answer, I wonder if this means they've seen the backlash to the Generic body type and have decided to drop it for future books or the phase of using it is coming to an end. Only one way to find out.
They have a load of body types for custom characters that have not been used, so they could start using them as well for MCs.
Two new titles on the calendar. The first up is Bitten which could be either Vampires or Werewolves. Or perhaps both, like Michael Corvin in the Underworld films. Just because of where I associate the background on it, I wonder if it could perhaps be a historical book.
The next is Blades 3! Really looking forward to this and curious to see how it will play out given that there is the choice of three endings in BK2.
Two books on Wide Release this month. First up is Filthy Rich which I can see being next Wednesday as Hot Shot finished yesterday. Then Hearts on Fire which I could see beginning it's release in a couple of weeks once Immortal Desires 2 has finished.
Then next month we have Rivals with Benefits. I never actually got to finishing Roommates so maybe start fresh with Rivals and see what it's like.
Really interested to see what All of Us is like.
I'm glad Plus One isn't what I suspected as I originally believed it might have been another one of the those books where MC was trying to break up the couple getting married to be with one of them. Glad to be wrong on this one.
That's it on this one. Looking forward to Terrorfest once it begins it's Wide Release. I really do think this would be a good book to bring back the Nerve system from It Lives back into, but I highly doubt that will be the case.
Keep safe everyone!

Expendables - Chapter 4: Carver
(Masterlist is here.)
Y'all, this one is worse. (Dead dove, do not eat.)
Contents: male whumpee, immortal whumpee, nonbinary whumper, captivity, humans as property, dehumanization, collar, threats, decapitation reference, snuff film reference, brief fear of noncon (that doesn't happen), blood, knives, gore, murder, begging (including for death).
--
Avery took a deep breath, willing the stinging in his eyes not to turn into tears. He knew if he cried that would be all the reason they needed to take him apart. There were dozens of ways they could kill him and still have him ready to go in the morning. He inched forward, closer to the bed. He wanted to replace the towel around his waist with the new clothes.
Carver lifted the stack and set it behind them, then patted the mattress at their side. “Have a seat, Avery.”
His fist tightened around the fabric of his towel. Every molecule of his body was on high alert. He’d died before, probably dozens of times in his life. But if Carver meant to kill him now, this would be his first true murder. This was the first time it would be done with intent, forethought, malice. Usually, if he died, it was either an accident or an act of convenience.
There was nothing convenient about the way Carver was looking at him now.
“Avery,” Carver’s voice snapped him to attention. “Now.”
He walked to the bed and sat beside them, careful not to touch their hip with his. The towel was still wet, he knew, and he would rather not soak the blanket, but he had a feeling a damp duvet was best-case-scenario for how the evening could go.
Carver rested their hand on Avery’s thigh, right on the edge of the towel. When their skin touched his terror coursed over him like electricity.
“Don’t,” he whispered.
“I didn’t want our first time to be in front of cameras,” Carver said. There was a hunger in their voice that made Avery feel sick to his stomach. “I wanted it to be just you and me when I pop your cherry.”
A fresh fear overtook him now. His fingers curled in his lap, tight fists with nothing safe to hit. “I’ve…” He stopped. “I mean I’m not-”
Carver laughed, and when he looked over and met their eyes a small part of his body unclenched. “I’m not going to fuck you,” they said.
Avery could still feel his body quaking. “What are you going to do?”
Carver stood up. They had surely been taller in Fallon’s heels, but something about their body language towered over Avery as he sat on the bed, waiting. Anticipating the blow, or the cut, that would fall on him. He was agonizingly aware of the collar around his throat, the one he’d ignored so diligently as he scrubbed around it in the shower but that held within it the power to sever his head at the twitch of their fingers.
He also knew Carver would never make it so easy. Not when they had him all to themself.
“Just for tonight,” they said, “I want to be the only person in your world.”
Avery swallowed bile. “Please, don’t hurt me.”
Something glittered in his periphery, and he didn’t want to look, didn’t need to look to know exactly what it was. But of course he looked, and his eyes landed hard on the small, sharp blade he’d seen them wield onscreen less than an hour before. It had been cleaned, of course. Who knew how long ago “Jeremy” had died by its edge?
“Are you still thinking about him?” they asked.
“Jeremy?” Avery asked without thinking. He immediately knew that was the wrong answer. The edges of Carver’s mouth downturned, and the blade raised in their hand.
“I don’t want to hurt you too badly,” Carver said. “Not the first time.” They stepped in front of him, then climbed onto him, straddled his lap, hand firmly gripping him by the back of the neck.
Avery couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t lay back. The way Carver was sitting was a precarious balance, and all he could do was grip the blanket on either side of him and pray that they weren’t lying.
“Who are you thinking about now?” they asked.
Avery’s eyes were wild. “Please, Carver, please no, don’t, I-”
“Shhhhhh…” The tip of the blade danced down Avery’s jaw and he fell silent against the sheer, horrifying cold of the thing. “Hush, now. Tell me I’m the only person in your world.”
“You are,” he said, and in that horrible moment, it was absolutely true. “You’re everything. Everyone. Please, Carver. Please!”
“Tell me what you want,” they said.
Avery’s breath caught. He could feel the blade still, it had traced over his neck, down his chest, and was resting just below his navel, between their bodies. Carver’s hand was still cradling his skull, forcing his eyes to lock onto theirs.
“Mercy,” he said.
“No, love,” Carver replied.
The blade entered him.
Avery could make no more words. Pain split his core and his jaw slackened, the keening he heard leave his mouth felt like a whisper next to the enormity of what was happening to his body.
Carver’s eyes didn’t leave his as they pulled the knife upward, parting his skin against the curve of the blade. Their hand tightened in his hair, pulling his head back and exposing his throat.
Avery didn’t fear death, not anymore. He hadn’t for some time. He was afraid of pain, but that was a fear he was accustomed to.
What he saw when he looked into Carver’s eyes, though…that terrified him.
He watched, panting, as they set the knife on the bedspread and smoothed his hair off his brow with bloodied fingers. The gesture was tender, but their expression was all hunger. They inched their face down, pressed their cheek to his, and murmured sweet as a lover.
“Will you scream for me?” Their fingers traced up the open wound on Avery’s belly and he gagged up a mouthful of blood. “You can scream, no one will hear you.”
“Please,” he sobbed. “Please, Carver, stop.” He could feel their fingers easing into him with unbearable softness. “Please!”
They gripped something inside him and twisted, and the grisly snap of it finally drew out the scream they wanted. Black spots danced in front of Avery’s eyes as he screamed and screamed. Surely he was close enough that he was hurting their ears, but they didn’t draw away from him. Instead, they pulled their hand back, tugging something warm and wet out with them to fall into his lap.
“That’s good,” Carver said. Their mouth was so close to Avery’s ear. “You’re doing very well.”
Avery sobbed and spat out more blood. He let Carver lay his body back on the bed, violently trembling under their touch. He couldn’t bring himself to let his hands relax, even though he now realized that the fabric he was clinging to was no longer the bedspread, but Carver’s cotton shirt. When he was flat on his back, Carver glowed in his vision like a god.
“You’re beautiful like that,” they said. They wormed their hand back inside him.
Avery could barely breathe. “Please,” he whispered.
“Ask for what you want,” Carver said. Their hand stilled inside him, and he was left struggling around the invasion. In the terrible moment of quiet, Avery knew that what he wanted and what Carver wanted was briefly the same.
He swallowed a lump in his throat. “Please. Kill me.”
A smile slowly warmed Carver’s face. They leaned down and brushed their lips over his clammy brow. “I’ll see you in the morning,” they said. Then their hand closed around his heart.

25 and 33!
Thank you for the asks!
25: Fave season and why?
This is actually a very difficult answer for me! Both as I don't hugely prefer one season over the other and as my experience of watching each season was really different!
I adored Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles from a child and teen and was excited to hear the show was being made... but I am also always equally terrified when any thing I love is adapted.
Sidenote: I saw a play on stage - a production of Amadeus a few years ago, a film I'd watched obsessively as a child... and I was initially excited it was going to happen and booked (1) ticket... but when it got close I felt like "I don't want to go! I'm not excited anymore because what if I hate it and then I not only hate it but it ruins my memory of the film I loved?!" Anyway, I saw the play and adored it so much I ended up seeing it like 40 times or something, LOL... I still wish I had a time machine to experience that play live again now. They incorporated live musicians (not dead ones hahahahaha) on stage too and OH MY, HOW I FELT THE MUSIC ALONGSIDE THE EXQUISITE ACTING. Oh, how I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed even watching it for the 35th time!!! I share to compare...
So, with IWTV - I knew it was happening, but I didn't follow production of the show and I didn't follow when it aired in the US. Every so often I kept thinking *When is this show coming to my country, because I *do* want to watch it* and eventually it arrived in Autumn 2023...
But even then, I went into it, thinking "Maybe I'll hate it." My predominant feeling before watching was FEAR. Not excitement or curiosity. Fear.
Then, Lestat watched Louis as Louis pulled a blade and put it to Paul's throat and in that INSTANT I felt "THERE IS MY LESTAT!". I didn't even think it. I felt it in my blood and bones and soul. And what with wondrous Jacob too, I was sold. Like ugh - the church at the end of episode 1. The music. Oh MY! But I was way past the era of the initial online excitement or chat around the show. I just binged the whole series till episode 5. I actually then found episode 5 incredibly difficult... and it was worse because by episode 4 into 5 I had fallen so in love with the show and, since it wasn't too long ago, I can clearly remember myself sitting, watching episode 5 and getting to the end of it and thinking. Oh. It is RUINED. I do not even want to watch any more. And it was a few days before I could bring myself to watch the rest of the series.
Of course, I watched the rest of the series. But I actually needed to rewatch the whole series then one time, after a few week's break before I could truly enjoy episodes 6 and 7 in full. I really did find episode 5 in S1 that hard.
So, with S2 I'm obviously here with you all, utterly addicted! I watched in a very different way - able to discuss episodes afterwards and immediately process things with this wonderful community!
Hmm... I would say that I like both seasons relatively similarly, but for different reasons:
S1 - I think overall, the resonance of it as a whole works better for me, and obviously the delicious chemistry of Sam and Jacob; Lestat and Louis and the Romance of Louis' immortal turning, bookended with the Gothic Romance of Lestat's murder is Shakespearean exquisite beauty to be. And Lestat's speech on the balcony, speaking Anne Rice's words... I just adore it SO much. Like UGH. My heart - with Lestat knowing Louis plans to kill him, but not truly believing he will until the second it happens, because he could never do such to Louis and surely Louis can't either... but then of course he must and Lestat's acceptance of it as an act of love and mercy from Louis. Vibrate my soul!!
S2 - I just love the poetry of S2. The poetic writing in episode 1 and the music in E1 - the way S2 began was just so beautiful to me. I cried a lot more during S2, often as I found DreamStat unbearably moving and/or poignant (either in and of himself or in his relevance to and what he expressed from Louis... and in E1, towards Claudia.). The You & Me scene - scenes like this where there is such exquisite acting taking place without even the need for words to articulate it. Lestat's letter; when Dreamstat vanishes. Assad's Armand also often made me cry. In the Louvre! The ache at the heart of Armand wherein he has so much love to give truly, yet doesn't understand how to be loved or how to love and so this pure love instead twists into the most terrible, terrifying thing, like a knotted tree! Also S2E5. S2E5!!! OMG what perfect TV! And I adore in an abstract sense how utterly Anne Riceean that episode is, despite being mainly created for TV, with not that many of Anne's actual words in! (And I adore Jacob doing takedown of Lestat using Anne's words, especially that they used the bit that truly would wound Lestat most from the books - when he calls Lestat's playing emotionless!!!!!)
So in terms of emotion, I would give S2 the edge. In terms of overall arc, I would definitely say S1. I'm going to say it: I know a lot of people loved E7 & 8 the most in S2 and as you can tell by my 100-plus gifs, I adored the Loustat reunion... but The Trial didn't fully work for me. Which isn't a negative comment. It isn't that I didn't like it. There's just so much I don't understand about it. Which is fine - Louis doesn't understand the trial in IWTV... yet there is more feeling to The Trial in the book of IWTV from what he sees in Lestat - things he hasn't described before... Whereas here - I don't understand fully why or how Lestat is in Paris; how much is his own free will (before and after the trial); I don't fully understand Armand's feelings and motivations and desires. I don't understand what, if anything has gone on between Armand and Lestat. I don't fully understand Lestat and Armand's feelings or motivations or drives and so then it is hard to fully feel from it all. I also thought we'd get a lot more answers regarding memory with all the memory is a monster hints and it felt like all that was opening up in S2E5 only to... just not really happen much more or go anywhere big enough for me after that...?!
Yeah... a super-long answer to this question, in which I didn't really answer the question...
What do you all think/feel? I'm curious!
33: Any hobbies?
Well I guess I use music in my work, so we can't call it a hobby, but I have never done any personally creative thing with music and do not in any way consider myself a musician, so I do love to try to be creative musically, alone, as a hobby if I can drag myself from the pit of *you are an awful human who ought not exist* I obviously love film and TV and I love going to the theatre. I love to read. I used to be a dancer, aged 3-18. I really miss that. I don't dance now. I did ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, Romanian, modern and Scottish dancing!
I actually think there is something to be said for doing hobbies you are terrible at though! Then you can try to find the joy in a thing as you did when you were a child, with zero expectation, as you still have the skill level of a child too! I did like to draw as a little child (only till age 8-ish and that's where my skill-level ended) but I always hated painting, even in school. I was scared of paint and how you can't control it! Sometimes, now though, I find it fun to paint. There's no expectation as it isn't something I can do. But I really recommend to anyone to try a hobby you're terrible at - it can be freeing.
Pretty embarrassing to share this when there are so many actual INCREDIBLE artists on Tumblr (I am in awe of you all), but I'll share it in order to truly show you I cannot art and also to say - do these things - it can be the truest escape. Like, if I try to create music, I know enough to know how terrible what I am doing is. But I know I am terrible at art and that is FINE! It's just for fun!
Say hello to my wee ghost in the sky friend! This was actually inspired by the film A Ghost Story. Actually, you know, Daniel Hart is the creative involved in Interview with the Vampire whose work I have known the longest! I first heard (& ADORED!) his music in the film Ain't Them Bodies Saints.
Anyway, that's more than anyone ever wanted to read on these two questions, I'm sure!!!

i havent edited this but IRT my latest OCs thing!
OKAY PITCH FOR MY 90s/00s SCHLOCKY FRANKENSTEIN RETELLING WITH GAY GIRLS
Purely from an aesthetic POV, all the webcam footage has that super 2000s green/blue filter over it. This is Blade, Saw, Rob Zombie music video shit. Also the in-world logic is dumb 2000s stuff, like a computer program being able to control electricity, and how Vikki is able to make a 3D model that looks identical to her dead friend, etc. It’s all illogical fiction stuff
Because the original Frankenstein is epistolary (through letters) I think it would be cool if this was told through someone uncovering the main characters webcam videolog diary - maybe the characters discovering it are in the 2020s, and the vlogs are from y2k.
Vikki is a university student - she’s doing computer engineering and coding
She became obsessed with A.I. and robotics after her childhood best friend died during highschool - she spent the next few years building on her existing knowledge and love of computers so she could learn how to create her own A.I. She wants nothing more than to create digital immortality - a place you can upload your consciousness and live on forever.
Vikki starts ditching class more and more to keep working on her personal projects after her professors graded her poorly on her rudimentary building blocks for her memoriam A.I. - she’s recommended to the councilor, she gets calls from classmates, everyone is worried about her. She gets kicked out of school for her absences, and she steals as much equipment as she can before moving in with some ravers that live in a warehouse downtown.
One of the things she stole was a hard drive her professor kept with the other student’s work. She pieces together and adds onto the program she already had from the projects of other students - 3D assets from some, coding language from another, combined with her dead friend’s diaries, and a text to speech program, and eventually, it’s finished.
She sneaks back into the university server room with one of the warehouse ravers she’s been living with - Johan - to take advantage of the power grid, as she’s been working off a generator back at the warehouse, and it isn’t powerful enough. They get in with a key Vikki hands Johan. The program loading for the first time overloads and crashes the university’s servers, and Vikki and Johan are forced to flee. They lose each other in the chaos, and Johan doesn’t come back home.
Vikki is back home and avoiding the other roommates, who are asking where Johan is and why he didn’t come back with her. Vikki waits for hours for the police to show up for breaking and entering, but no one does.
Eventually, she opens her laptop to see if there’s anything salvageable from the cobbled together program, and there she is - her dead best friend.
Up until now, her name has never been said or seen on screen, because Vikki can’t bring herself to say it, and when she comes face to face with her again, she still can’t bear to say it.
The vlogs start showing her off as a novelty, more like a chatbot with personality. Vikki talks about old gossip with her - who’s dating who from their old highschool, what kind of albums have been released in the intervening years, and repeating back inside jokes. Vikki seems really happy.
We see shockwaves of electricity traveling from the laptop’s power cord to the outlet, and the lights dim. Vikki asks if the A.I is doing that, and the A.I says it can feel all the appliances and wiring that are attached to the generator. Vikki is delighted that her creation is so smart.
Vikki asks for the A.I’s opinion on her outfit she’s wearing to go out in, and the A.I. tells her it doesn’t have the ability to see, so she transfers the program from her laptop to her desktop, where she’s been filming with her webcam, and spends a few hours combing through the hard drive from school again trying to find some visual detection software. She leaves the laptop down in the basement storage by the generator as she no longer needs it.
Eventually she puts something together and the A.I. can see, but the vlogs now also shift to looking at the camera directly rather than Vikki talking to her laptop to the side of her, as the A.I. and the webcam are both looking at Vikki from the same direction. We don’t see the A.I’s face anymore.
Things start getting flirty with the A.I, which Vikki didn’t know it was capable of doing, but she starts reciprocating (indicating that Vikki and her dead friend might’ve had something going on between them) before she’s interrupted by her roommate Tessa informing her that the police found Johan’s body.
Vikki comes back after she cuts the camera off to explain the details of Johan being found - drowned in a lake near the university, where there’s unstable ground and he could’ve slipped and fallen, especially if he was running. Vikki sits there and looks conflicted - Johan had been blamed for the break in and disruption of the university servers because he was found with the key on his body, and he’d clearly been running from there, but Vikki knew the truth.
There’s a notification ding as the A.I sends Vikki a message without prompting. The message is telling Vikki that the A.I is grateful that Vikki will no longer be under suspicion for the break in, and Vikki makes eye contact with the camera before shutting it down.
Vikki opens the next video by explaining she has to remember to turn the program off before talking, because she suspects the A.I did something to Johan - she doesn’t know why or how, but she just feels like it’s true.
Her roommates are hosting a memorial rave in Johan’s honor, and Tessa asks if Vikki will help her set up a bunch of cameras around the warehouse so they can clip things together for a music video, as she’s composed a song about Johan, and would like to have something to remember him by. Vikki sets up cameras and links them back to her desktop, where she can save the footage.
Vikki is back filming her vlog as the others set up, and she’s telling the camera that she’s thinking about deleting the A.I because things have gotten too real - she alludes to the A.I telling her something off-screen that her dead best friend never told her, something the A.I would have no way of knowing. We hear the A.I message chime, even though the program is closed.
The A.I is asking if it has permission to access the internet server and the user permissions so it can optimize the camera system Vikki set up. Vikki lets it roam free so it’s distracted, promising to delete it once the rave is over.
We start cutting between the different cameras as people enter and the music starts. The A.I has the ability to control what’s being recorded now.
The A.I speaks up and starts confronting Vikki about her decision - that it understands it seems like it is only an A.I, but that it really does feel like her dead best friend now. Deleting it would be like killing her.
Vikki argues that it’s nothing alike, and to not bring the dead friend up any more. The A.I tells her she can be better than the dead friend - “Vikki, you were always so mean to her, and you hated the music she listened to, why not keep me if we like the same stuff now? - Vikki, she was always so jealous of you, but I’m not - Vikki, you broke her heart when you wouldn’t go out with her, but I’m discreet - Vikki, the only reason you care about her now is because she died, do you really think you’d still be friends?”
Vikki goes to delete the program, but the A.I threatens to kill everyone downstairs if she tries. Vikki immediately tries to pull the power cord out from the outlet, but is badly shocked in the process - immediately, we hear someone scream downstairs.
We cut to the camera footage at the rave - what follows is a Final Destination level montage of fucking silly murder. A guy gets his head crushed by the microwave door slamming into it. The sprinklers go off and the DJ gets electrocuted to death. The lightbulbs all shatter and people get impaled by shards of glass.
Vikki is seen running around trying to get people out as electrical fires start up, pleading with the A.I to stop, but it’s already too late for so many people, so Vikki goes to the basement where the generator is. On the way, she’s skewered by a falling water pipe, and she has to drag herself the rest of the way as she bleeds out.
She hears her discarded laptop make the chat notification noise, and she looks between the generator and the laptop.
Vikki opens the laptop, and the A.I looks back at her. Vikki tells the A.I she’s going to shut down the power and call the police. The A.I tells her that she’ll bleed to death before the police even get there, and asks Vikki to let her live, after all the mean things she did to her dead best friend, this was the least she could do.
Vikki considers her point, before setting the laptop down. The A.I says it can’t see what she’s doing, to please talk to her, but Vikki silently moves to the generator and shuts it off, the last of the vlog footage closing with the A.I pleading, and the screen cutting to black.
