Billy and Marvel have very different fighting styles.

For one, Billy treats every fight like a street fight: nothing is off limits. The boy will bite, scratch, kick, and claw. He fights dirty, and he will throw anything he can at you. His moves are unpolished, based on pure instinct or what matters in the moment, which makes his moves unpredictable — atleast until someone finds a pattern.

But Marvel, they fight in the ancient technique of Pankration. (Pankration is an Ancient Greek fighting technique, which is a combination of wrestling and boxing. It used to be in the Olympics and apart of Ancient Greece battle technique. It has limited rules and sometimes fights resulted in death. Olympic wins were usually counted by submission or knockouts. It is also said Heracles and Theseus used this fighting method in myths) The fighting style’s devastating and outright brutal. But it gets the job done, and is very intimidating—meaning it’s the perfect fit for the Champion of Magic. But for a friendly superhero? Not really.

It’s not like Captain Marvel can win here either, it’s between fighting like a street rat with no rules or fighting like you’re still in Ancient Greece, when everyone lacked entertainment and morals. Which are both pretty bad, because the choices are:

Captain Marvel, the superhero whose never uttered a curse word in public, gotten rude or actually expressed any strong negative emotion, clawing at a supervillain like their on the verge of death and the one thing they’ll do before slipping away from the world is taking the villain with them. They’re kicking, thrashing and…biting? Biting. They are kicking, thrashing and biting using pure fight or flight instinct with sparse strikings of lightning pounding down from the sky. or

Captain Marvel, the guy whose nickname is “The Big Red Cheese” and poorly hides a grimace every time someone uses the nickname, kicking a supervillain square in the stomach, then picking them up and throwing them on their head. Once the villain’s down they’re over extending their shoulder, then the other, before putting them in a stranglehold...

Both ways are just…

Neither are really expected and I can’t imagine which ones funnier.

Fighting Styles to Give your Characters!

For those looking to create characters that know how to fight, I'm making this simple guide to give you ideas on the different types of fighting styles that you can implement and assign to your characters. Whether it's your badass MC, a herculean villain or a side character that ends up becoming prominent with just their fighting skills, adding this layer of fighting can help you create a more thorough story with lots of holes to fill.

Based on Striking:

1. BOXING:

A martial art focused on using powerful punches.

2. KICKBOXING:

A martial that combines boxing and kicking arts for effective use of both hands and legs for offense.

3. MUAY THAI:

Originating from Thailand, this martial art uses hands, legs, elbows and knees, creating versatile combinations for a strong striking system.

4. TAEKWONDO:

This Korean martial art utilises powerful kicking techniques primarily. Use of other striking methods is rare in taekwondo.

5. WING CHUN:

A Chinese martial art that uses fast and powerful punches. This is used in close-ranged fighting.

6. CAPOEIRA:

From Brazil, this is an interesting martial art that uses kicks and acrobatics using music. The use of music also makes it look like a dance, though capoeira is a good martial art to know to create a dynamic fighting style.

7. Kino Mutai:

An eccentric Phillipines martial art that uses biting and eye-gouging to attack.

Karate and its All-round Use:

Originating from Japan, Karate is a broad martial art that uses kicks, punches, blocks and strikes for both attacks and defense. Karate training not only builds strength, but is also helpful to build physical and mental endurance, speed and body control.

Karate has the following types —

- Ashihara Karate (for street fighting)

- Shotokan: includes kata (pre-arranged forms), kumite (sparring) and kihon (basic techniques). Shotokan focuses on powerful strikes and dynamic movements.

- Shito-ryu (defensive karate)

- Wado-ryu (dodging or Taisabaki)

- Goju-ryu (counter strikes and soft, circular blocks)

- Kyokushin (full contact combat and mental discipline)

Kung Fu and it's All-round Use:

Also called quanfa, kung fu actually refers to a skill achieved through sheer discipline and hard work.

- Shaolin Kung Fu: uses methods and techniques from the Shaolin temple and builds endurance (physical and mental).

- Wing Chun: close-ranged combat for practical fighting.

- Hung Gar: explosive fighting style that uses movements inspired by animals and their behaviours—most commonly the tiger.

- Baguazhang: uses circular movements and focused on using the opponents force back on them.

- Xingyiquan: uses power and speed.

- Sanda (Chinese kickboxing)

- Choy Li Fut (a combination of Hang Gur and Shaolin kung fu)

Based on Wrestling/Grappling:

1. AIKIDO:

Japanese martial art that focuses on defense. It redirects the attack away, and focuses on joint locks and throwing.

2. BOKH:

Traditional Mongolian wrestling using immense strength.

3. BOJUKA:

A self-defense style that focuses on grappling and striking to the opponent's sensitive and vital areas.

4. COMBAT HAPKIDO:

Derived from Hapkido (a Korean martial art using punches, kicks and joint locks), combat hapkido focuses more on grappling and self-defense.

5. COREEDA:

An Australian aboriginal martial arts focused on wrestling.

6. BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU:

A Brazilian martial art that focuses on ground fighting and grappling.

7. JUDO:

Japanese martial art focused on grappling, joint locks and throws.

8. JUJUTSU:

A Japanese martial that uses holds, throws and joint locks to defeat the attacker.

9. LAAMB:

A Senegalese martial art that uses wrestling and punches.

I redesigned my redesign a little bit; mostly the wings cuz they were awkward and for some reason I forgot bat wings are their fingers; anyways I do have more ideas for him this time so this is also what it’s about 😛

What I imagine is that his bat wings Could be screens! (Btw the Shockwave here is just a filler design I don’t yet have any redesign ideas for him) Either or both screens in general, and or holographic screens; more specifically could be attributed to Haptic Holography, in which it could be interacted with and be felt via ultrasonic waves (from Soundwave) which the person of contact could feel it tactically although it being a hologram;;

both handy for meetings (sensors could be used to make users be able to interact with the imagery) And combat if you asked me, like imagine thinking you’re fighting someone yet you really aren’t, you’re just punching air but you don’t know that, and you have no way of winning cuz you’re getting hit by sound waves that Soundwave is emitting at the right time and place yet you cannot hear but you assume it’s your opponent hitting back, and your opponent never falters cuz they’re not real

This is also just a concept of his bridging system he had in Prime 🤔 I figured he could utilize a more silent and stealthy space bridge instead of that bright and loud bridge that Prime had going on 🙄 essentially Soundwave ripping a hole in a space to get from one side of a pocket to the other; but likely he wasn’t forged with the ability like Skywarp’s warping is, and instead he had it implemented to him later on 😌 and also yeah he has his typical telepathy/intense hearing abilities; tho I have yet to consider if he’d be able to do echolocation 🤔 purely for the ultra sonic stuff and being a bat probably

Ok so like…. Who makes Ratio’s statues? 

Because every possible explanation just opens up a whole new can of worms. 

I’ve been trying to go through as much info about him as I can, including his character stories, but I can’t find anything??? 

So I’m just left stewing in the dark, which usually leads to my humor coming into play. 

So like… are the statues of Ratio’s own making??

Because that would insinuate that he takes the time out of his busy life to constantly make new statues of just himself, including the multiple plaster heads. And if it’s not him physically and it is a manifestation of his Imaginary powers, he’s still making them right??? 

So he still chooses the poses! 

Why??? 

What is his thought process??? 

Physically made or Imaginary Powers made, it’s still his choice on what the statue should look like right???

And if it’s not a conscious decision, then WHAT DO THE JOJO AND CUTESY POSES MEAN

There’s a constant slapstick comedy routine of Aventurine trying to hide them anytime Ratio comes over to his place and barely getting away with it. Does he ever come clean when they start dating? Do they start dating because Ratio finds the statues? Fuck it, if Ratio is the one making the statues and not an artist, does he teach Aventurine how to sculpt?? Watching the Clown and Pili fight and the crowd is so unserious it's so funny but also oh no....I knew Clown was good at PVP and had his reputation but my god he's doing like 5 hits for every 1 Pili gets on him.
