I've been doing a speedrun of my thesis for the past +/- 30 hours because I want to be free already AND I've been constantly watching THAT ONE BARRICADES scene that always makes me tear up like a little bitch (that I am) but at the same time it pumps me up SOOOO MUCH that I feel ready to keep going for 30 hours more and finish this shit already and draw more pretty Levis for y'all and- and- *sobbing* 😭😭😭

My name is Mohammed Saqallah, I am 23 years old. I used to work in a smartphone store in the customer service department 📱.

My brother Mahmoud (20 years old) and I dreamed of establishing a mobile repair shop together 🛠️💡. But the war stole our dreams and destroyed our home over our heads 🏚️💥.

One fateful night during the harsh war 🌌⚠️, our home turned to rubble after being bombed by the Israeli occupation 💣. We miraculously survived 🙏✨ after the civil defense 🚑 managed to rescue us from under the ruins. However, the devastation left behind is beyond description. Now, we are homeless 🏴‍☠️ with no source of income 💼, and the dreams we spent years building have turned into painful memories 💔.

My younger sisters now live in a constant state of fear 😢:

Hala (14 years old): Trembles at the sound of explosions 😨💥.

Lama (15 years old): Has lost the ability to sleep due to nightmares 🌙😔.

Haya (16 years old): Experiences panic attacks whenever she hears gunfire 🔊😣.

Hifa (17 years old): Lives in shock 😞, even though she was always my source of support and encouragement to pursue my dreams ❤️✨.

As for me, I lost my job and my source of income 💔💼. My brother Mahmoud, who dreamed of studying smartphone engineering 📚💡, could not enroll in university as he hoped 🎓. Even my parents 👩‍👦‍👦, who were our pillar of strength 🤲, are now struggling with the psychological and financial toll of this war 🥺💔.

Why Are We Asking for Help? 🤝💭

We are now seeking to leave Gaza in search of safety and a better future 🌍🕊️. The cost of coordination and leaving Gaza is enormous, as we need $5,000 for each family member, which includes me, Mahmoud, my parents, and my four sisters 💸👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, totaling $40,000 💵.

Additionally, my brother Mahmoud needs $5,000 for his university education once we leave 📚🎓.

Total Needed: $45,000 💰💵

I'm gonna ramble now, buckle up

Frankly that's the first personal piece I've drawn in months, and I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful that I was able to feel emotions and wanted to draw something again

I struggle a lot with empathy and understanding of other's feelings and displaying my own but. I hope people will feel something by looking at it, too

I've got inspired by the old tale that we used to read on literature lessons, altho I for the life of me can't remember the name of it, or anything else from the plot for that matter. There were a competition for retrieving the jug from the bottom of the river, where many men tried and failed, as they couldn't reach it. As you can already tell, it was a reflection of the jug that was hanged on a tree all along.

I liked the concept of something unreachable being seen as being very close to you :) hence the whole water situation

generally water is seen as a positive symbol in art but for me it's cold, slippery, you can't see shit in it, misleading and uncomfortable. go figure

and I really like how CL displays yellow as a color with negative connotation while it's classically being the The Most Happy Coded Color Ever.

while I'm at it I wanted to share a song I associate with caged lungs in particular

I would have liked to talk more about how awesome the fic is and how invested I'm in the plot and characters and how noticing details and parallels makes my brain go brrrr but I'm shy and not really eloquent with my words. I hope you will get the idea anyway. I love it <3

Vivienne is not pro-templar as many would think. She is just using the resources she has in hand in order to work with a system that would rather throw her and the rest of the mages into an inescapable pit. Vivienne's insistence of using the templars is indicative of her awareness of the dangers of magic but she has made it clear that as much as magic serves man, templars serves mages as protectors. Vivienne does not hate or look down upon other mages as her efforts are clearly to support the mages if she is made Divine. Additionally, her quest was initially supposed to be about collecting phylacteries in order to keep mages safe from templars and mage hunters. She cares about mages enough to chain the templars and if you have a good relationship with her, allow the College to exist.
