As a mother of three boys (two of which are under two), I've accepted the fact that I most likely won't be able to have a real Christmas tree in our home for the foreseeable future. The little ones are far too curious for such a temptation, and I just don't have the energy for extra supervision. So I've set my eyes on the Holy Grail of DIY crafts. A 3D felt Christmas tree, complete with felt ornaments and fixtures for hanging. An all-inclusive way to get the little ones involved in Christmas without the worry! Wish me luck 😅

i don’t know what’s going on with me this year, but i am genuinely excited for the christmas season. i can feel the warmth tingle of the holiday spirit creating goosebumps on my skin, the jolliest of all voices through my radio, and the creamiest of cocoa on my tongue. warm blankets while watching christmas movies, and baking just because while the christmas tree lights illuminate the room in a warm glow. yeah… i can’t wait.

So my felted christmas tree was looking a bit ratty and was soft in too many places so I gave it a couple of hours of TLC, which meant I broke approx 7 of my expensive needles in my felting gun because the floral ring skeleton does NOT fuck around BUT:

In the tiny Scottish hamlet of Sunnyville (more properly known as Achmothogair) Christmas is celebrated in a traditional way, for time moves slowly in remote rural areas and most of the few remaining residents have left their youth far behind, so they tend to indulge in nostalgia. The days of mid-winter are short and dim at this extreme northerly latitude, and made even darker by almost unbroken cloud cover; life in Sunnyville during the festivities is therefore spent mainly indoors, centred around hearth and home, and illuminated by such artificial means as they can muster.
