just watched episode 5: *spoilers below*

(I’m also going to now cont this on my art blog. I feel it fits better here, since I’ll be drawing for this show soon enough)

My main theory for Jod/Silvo/whatever-his-name-is (he gets a new one each episode we see him. It’s very old school pirate/outlaw of him. Kudos):

He is an ex-Padawan of the Jedi Order. (Honestly, I think I’ll be incredibly disappointed if he isn’t. It just makes sense to me.)

Reason 1: Openly uses the Force

At first I thought it was exactly as Fern suspected: that he was using some sort of “magic” trick to fool them into believing he was a Jedi. Which is still partially true. Initially I believed it was magnets. Either hidden in his clothing or installed into his body, like a cyborg. Capable of manipulating the electronics/metal around him. Like a makeshift Magneto. Which I thought (and still think) would be extremely cool. And would provide a new and interesting set of skills within the galaxy.

But now that we are in Ep 5. I’m starting to truly think that he does have the force.

He uses the force regularly with a clear familiarity that only those who were trained very young could manage (unless they’re prodigy/incredibly high Midi count, in Luke’s case).

And now he uses the force for his benefit. He has the training of a padawan and the mindset of a boy that was raised amongst pirate. A Captain Jack of the Star Wars universe. Internally built in morals but a pessimistic outlook on life in the galaxy.

Reason 2: No Attachments

He gave the “no attachments” talk to Wim in ep 5 (and this is the reason why my theory of him being a Jedi solidified in my mind, over the magnets theory). Albeit, he gave it in a less-Jedi way. Which is to be expected after surviving the genocide of his people (provided he is a remnant of the Order). He basically told him (I’m merely summing it up) that the attachments would diverge him from his direction in life. He should “forget his parents” because “he (Jod) did and he’s /doing great!/“ (a huge lie if there was ever one).

Honestly, his little one-to-one talk with Wim really provided some insight into his mindset. And having him specifically say something along the lines of “you need to forget your attachments. All of them. They’ll just slow you down”. It’s one thing to just say “forget your parents”. Which a character like his would say. It’s a whole different meaning for a character in Star Wars to say “forget your attachments to your parents”.

That was a big ole hint to me, tbh.

If his character truly does hold a Jedi past. Then Jod isn’t saying to “stop loving your parents”. He’s saying “You just need to let go of them.”

I doubt he stopped loving the Master he once had. Or the padawan friends/siblings of his age group. In fact, his love for them would be the reason he is such a hurting man as we now know him now.

On the topic of attachments:

I adore the thought of the Jedi teachings of no attachments leading to a people unable to properly live. Because every being that grew up under the Order’s tutelage we’re not at all well adjusted.

Obiwan: didn’t know how to cope after the loss of his first attachment (Quigon), except to latch onto the last remnant of him (Anakin). He also didn’t know how to cope the loss of his second attachment (Anakin), except to watch his remnants (Luke and Leia) from afar.

No longer willing to get to know and attach to them, too. Fearing even more loss. Giving in to being a hermit in the desert because it would (assumably) hurt less. Haunted by the ghosts of his past.

Obiwan didn’t know how to go through the process of grief and properly let go. Because he was taught to never even love another being on an intimate (romantic or platonic) level in the first place.

So, then, how could he ever learn how to properly grieve and move forward?

Anakin: Refused to give up his attachments. Unwilling to give in to the Jedi rule about not latching on to people that he chose to love.

He gripped so tightly to his people in fear of losing them. A fact that Palpatine utilized to groom and isolate him away from everyone anyways.

Anakin, too, could not learn to let go. He didn’t know how to move forward after loss either.

With Obiwan, his love for his older brother/father-figure turned to an obsessive hate (and there is a very fine line between love and hate). With Padme, his love for her was fierce, yet possessive. He could not ever think of losing her and even went against his own ideals and morals in order to “save” her. Not realizing that it was his own actions that lost her until it was too late. With Ahsoka, he didn’t know how to cope with her leaving him other than to meditate with her lightsabers everyday and pray that she returned to him. With Shmi, he lost her in his arms after she was tortured to death and turned around to slaughter the very people that took her from him. With an internal promise that he would never lose another loved one again.

Anakin, too, unable to learn how to grieve and move forward.

Both Obiwan and Anakin “sacrificed” themselves “for Luke”. (I could get into this bag of worms of: Neither of them realizing that giving themselves up for a situation that could have easily not lead to their deaths, resulted in leaving Luke alone in a world that hated his kind. Because both selfishly wished for the end, but then we would be here all day).

Ahsoka: still has not learned how to grieve and move forward. Which is causing pain to her current friends and family. By holding them all at arms length. Unable to cope with the loss of her own brother/father-figure to the darkside. Now afraid that she would follow his same path if she allowed herself to “attach” herself to someone else, not realizing yet she already has.

Cal (please keep in mind I haven’t finished Survivor. My system keeps crashing… I got to Greev’s bar and that’s it 😤): Is unable to yearn for the loss of his new-found family and crew. Wishing for all of them to be within the confines of his ship and going on adventures with him. Not realizing that they aren’t “gone” and they haven’t “forgotten him”. Their lives have simply gone on to different paths, their bonds no less strong, and yet he now keeps them at arms length because the physical distance for some reason crippled him emotionally. Plus, something obviously happened that I am not yet aware of.

And now Jod: He has internally accepted “no attachments” to the point that he just simply doesn’t try. The more we learn about his past relationships, the more you can tell how much he internalized it. Now we get to see him unwillingly bond with these children now under his care. I can only hope that he can succeed in learning what it is to be truly loved and also how to love.

I just finished watching Episode 4 of The Skeleton Crew and I now have some new theories! *spoilers below*

Theory 1: At Achran was once exactly like At Attin. Perhaps every single one of the hidden planets were once exactly like At Attin, but since we only know of the two planets we’ll just be staying with them for this post.

I’m thinking that At Achran had been just as preserved as At Attin but some kind of disagreement or someone filled with greed for power of some kind caused the planet’s society to destabilize. Especially when General Strix was presented as the “true leader” of their planet. Suggesting a previous and current power struggle. Though I get the feeling that Strix is happy to sit back and enjoy his position of power while others do his job for him. This situation felt to me that both sides have devolved into being unable to think beyond the pettiness of each other.

Theory 2: At Attin and all of the other planets are experiments similar to Fallout’s Vaults. Where some dubious group or groups decided to find (I think it was seven or eight pillars in the tower of ep 4?) 7-8 planets to create the same type of society, and then set each planet a different set of instructions/forced something to happen in order to study what would be the effect.

While it is likely by some sus section of the Republic, I wonder if maybe it could have been created by a different faction entirely? Perhaps the as far back as the Eternal Empire? Or maybe further forward where it was an experiment created by a newly christened Empire in its early years?

The Skeleton Crew has been so amazing. I’ve been having an absolute blast! Whoever came together to write this, clearly knows Star Wars and what they want tell with their story. I am in love with all the characters. I wish for each one to get a happy ending but they have clearly shown that they are willing to give some stakes for the kids and their reluctant adult to go through before they can return home.

And I can’t wait to learn more about the secrets of these strange planets.

For a game with central themes such as „every being should have a right to self-determination and autonomy“, „inclusionary communities forms bonds strong enough to protect themselves from forces that seek to prey on it“, „free will, though scary and potentially leading to harmful actions, is something worth defending for every being“, and „the cruelty the universe can spawn can be overcome with the will to continue on and do better for your people“, I find it so disappointing we‘ve had little lore that give psions the spotlight, let alone a narrative that focuses on their struggle to build back their culture and lives after who-knows-how-many-years of servitude.

I feel like the psions are the most underdeveloped in-game species, and when we do get development for them, it’s always in the context of them serving the cabal empire or the Conclave taking on antagonistic roles to sabotage the efforts of the Vanguard. I love the development of the eliksni and how in recent years, the game has really been pushing stories that humanize them, validates their struggles, and gives them hope for the future of their species, I just wish psions got the same courtesy.

Yes, they were freed under Caiatl‘s rule, but that wasn‘t given much narrative emphasis as they either continued to act for the empire or joined the Conclave, neither of which gave them a stronger presence in the story or a character that joins our cast of allies .

What was their servitude like? How much cruelty and discrimination did they face? Were there revolutions and movements for better legal protections? What parts of their culture, besides religion, did they bring with them when they were taken by the empire? Is there still anti-psion sentiments present in Uluran culture? What was their home planet like and do elder psions remember it like Riis-born eliksni remember Riis?

The psions have been influenced by Nezarec/the Witness, have been a part of the cabal empire and it’s turmoils for an extended period of time, posses incredible intelligence and psionic powers (that may have connections to the darkness), have a religious schism that was affected by Nezarec’s disappearance and the empire preventing open practices of their beliefs, and yet they are always treated as an afterthought (usually antagonistic), a one-off character in lore, or given a subservient role.

Psions are so cool and deserve the universe, yet we are given crumbs when we could have meals that accentuate the messages Destiny is trying to craft, such as respecting the right of others to have beliefs and perceptions of their own. Psions feel less like people and more like characters playing side roles to progress smaller story beats. It’s so infuriating and I don’t know if Bungie is just too timid to tackle a story involving slavery, there wasn’t enough time to develop them, or Bungie never intended for them to be more than what they currently are. I have hope we will get something soon though!!!

it's been a while since i tried looking, but i did hear that something like this happens last year and over time started to think, "was it a fluke?" bc no one posted footage or caps of it then, and i aimed for a completionist run in my first playthrough. turns out it's real! and definitely shines a new light on a character that, for most other types of playthroughs, will not give this much emotion! Soooo…. How early do we think the Bad Batch were sent out into the war? Because it’s very sad to think about, and I’ve also seen this explored with some other clones as well (Tup and Dogma), but I also can’t erase the somewhat funny mental image of some high-ranking members of the GAR having this elite, special force team coming to help them on an impossible mission, the group succeeding, and when its time to finally meet and thank them it’s literally just some guys whose voices haven’t fully changed and haven’t even lost all the baby fat in their faces yet.

WOAH, Voice designs and HCs be upon you underneath the cut!! (and doodles and wips of the other voices + TLQ!)

Okay so, left to right we have:

Hero, Hunted, Stubborn (who I’ve renamed Perseverant/Hunter) and Smitten!

Hero is mostly simple and if I gave him colors he’d be based off a peahen specifically! I hc TLQ and all the voices are being trans (either non-binary or non-binary trans masc)

Some of the voices wear clothing but it’s typically very minimal, as Hero is the closest to being “Human” or similar to a person- as I HC him to represent TLQ’s want of not being seen as a monster but a simple common folk and thinking that being a hero will grant them that and allow them to live amongst people - he wears a tunic and has the most regular and minimal bird like features

He has a small rounded snub beak and clawed hands and feet!! He’s among the shorter of the voices when visualized (this is also because TLQ imagines his large height is frightening and would prefer to be a normal height around others for their comfort (he doesn’t really have a lot of his own thoughts, he wishes he had a community and that’s how all the Voices split off)

Hero doesn’t have any wings, and only has slight feathers here and there though his tail feathers are quite long and curl at the ends, making they slightly fluffy. A lot of Hero’s design is to calm and placate others, he’s as cute a monster as most people could tolerate living amongst them without plotting to kill him at night.

Hero, like a good chunk of most of the voices, is bipedal! Choosing to walk upright as he’s not very comfortable walking on all fours (it hurts his back and he doesn’t like the dirt on his hands too much).

Out of all the voices, Hero most resembles that of TLQ in bass design, if only because he has the least unique features possible that would differentiate him from them.

Smitten my SON AND BABY!!

Both Hunter and Hunted are reflections of one another. Hunted is primarily quadrupedal both by choice and because of the ease it gives him when hunting! He’ll stand bipedally if needed of course like to grab something or open doors but otherwise he’ll run, stand, and sit on all fours.

He has long, feathered ears to listen out for both prey and predators and small wings that make him temporarily flight able but are better suited for gliding and such! His tail feathers are much shorter and similar to a feather duster to keep him from dragging and lagging behind too much when running or escaping.

Hunted wears a little cloak around his body for warmth that resembles an old brown tattered blanket that’s been wore with love <3

Due to being quadrupedal he’s technically one of the shortest voices but when Bipedal he’s Much taller than Hero so it doesn’t count (he also shares the same height with Hunter/Stubborn)

Neither Hunted nor Hunter have real beaks or mouths with which to speak! They simply have muzzle like faces and the words come out though they have been seen or shown to have some form of mouths when it’s time to consume food- otherwise the other voices aren’t quite sure How they eat all the prey they catch.

Hunter/Stubborn is a mirrored shard of Hunted! His feathers are much messier and mussed due to frequent attacks and harm being done to him- in addition to that his wings have also been Shattered and ripped to shreds. He can no longer fly or glide and is in a constant state of survival and anger.

He is Very mad and Will survive no matter the cost. He sports many cuts, bites, scars and wounds that have yet to heal or have healed improperly and his cloak is tattered not due to being well worn but because of the cost of survival. Safe to say wearing clothing doesn’t exactly bode well when running from predators- he has lost many chunks of skin and flesh for the sake of keeping his one comfort in the world.

All of this has led to Hunter being on the offense- better to Attack than Be Attacked, kill or be killed. He tends to spiral, goading himself into believing he likes the pain he inflicts upon others who aim to harm him when in reality he simple wants a chance to stop what he perceives to be a future threat and attack. He needs a hug and is very sad (he will bite you.)

Hunter is similar to a cat who gets touched a lot without his permission and acts as such, he very much prefers it when people ask.

Both he and Hunted represent TLQ and the ways they cope/react to their trauma. Hunter tries to turn it around to being something they enjoy, masking the pain as scars of battles won and survived while Hunted simply wants to live in safety and comfort without the fear of being hunted or perceived either negatively or positively. Together they’re two sides of the same coin and tend to comfort each other.

Smitten is very big, very fluffy, and yes is he indeed fat <3 Within his heart all the love is stored because as we all know skinny bitches have no hearts and the ones they do have are cold <3 /ref /J

Seriously though Smitten is a Big Boy with a Big personality and we love that! His eyes are mostly obscured as he’s blinded by love! So while he can see enough to move around in a space he can’t really see things for how they are.

Similar to male birds in real life, Smitten has Many colors! He actually has some of the most out of the voices as well as some of the largest plume (chest fluff) and tail feathers! He’s big and flashy for a reason man.

Smitten has the most symbols with symbolic meaning than the rest of the voices have mostly to symbolize his love! He has a big heart patch on his chest, arms, legs, hands, and cheeks! He’s a lover, not so much of a fighter unless he has to but he’s not perfect! It’s why his ears and arms don’t have identically colored markings!

Smitten has a much rounder and full beak that makes up his face, similar to Opportunist! (See wip above) His eyes are usually closed to give him a dreamy expression and so his mouth is Much more expressive! He talks with his hands and often flaps his arms which ends up making really big gusts of air as he has the most feathered “wings” out of every Voice.

I can’t remember but I’m fairly sure that when I was creating him I based him off of a bleeding heart dove and a pigeon- basically he’s baby, argue with the wall <3

The Long Quiet…the Biggest Boy.

Now, despite having visualizations, all the voices are Still just Voices. For TLQ it’s just an easier way to envision all the noise in their head without going insane from everyone talking, it’s easier if they have a point from which they’re coming!

So the voices each have their own little designs and looks that are based off of TLQ! This is based off of my own OSDD! Specifically OSDD 1a, so most of the Voices are literally just alternate looks/forms of TLQ rather than being entirely different. I imagine for TLQ he actually wishes that they looked more like the voices and has quite a lot of trouble actually envisioning Themselves, which is why we seldom see them and their full body in game.

Safe to say they have Major dysphoria and are definitely trans but their attitude is like “We ain’t got time for allat” (they need therapy).

While TLQ wants to appear as Normal to other people as they imagine hero would be, they actually wish they had a bit more of Smitten’s build. Being less sharp edges and intimidation would be a lot easier for meeting new people, especially when ur a soft floofy bird and not a Large Bird Monster.

TLQ coos more than they actually Speak. The Princess just understands them and what they mean, miraculously, so communication is never a problem. If they actually tried to talk though it would be something more similar to The Cold with long and odd pauses in between words, while also being slightly garbled as they aren’t really Huge on talking considering most of their conversations are in their head. When pet TLQ actually does a bit of a rumbly purr! They don’t get pet much and Love physical affection.

And, lastly, to end my super long hc post-

TLQ always fixes up their plume, crest, and face feathers before meeting the Princess with the hopes of making a good first impression (and having her think they’re cute) they try very hard pls be nice to them (and no they don’t smile, they don’t have enough teeth for it to look pleasant)

Story time:

Back in the early days of me getting into this podcast I stumbled across a lot of fanart for Malevolent, specifically Potato-lord and Izel

I was in the middle of season two and I had no idea who the season four characters were but I fell in love with Noel almost instantly.

And as everyone does when they are super normal about a fictional character they have yet to meet in cannon I read and re- read his wiki page a lot.

Now one of the things that the wiki fails to tell you is that the Butcher and Noel start working together within the timeframe of the podcast.

Instead it just says this:

I had seen and enjoyed a lot of Dollins stuff by this point and extrapolated from the art and the wiki that Noel and Collins had been working together for a decent amount of time.

It would probably be useful for The Butcher to have a man in the force if something were to happen to him or if he needed to get some evidence handily disappeared.

I also guessed that due to the dreamlands and training from the war Noel is dangerous enough on his own just in a less obvious way than The Butcher (I still believe this).

Essentially they were a serial killing power couple.

Thats it. Thats the au that was cannon to me for a very long time.

I like to think that sometimes Zane wakes up, dresses like a pirate, and says they need to follow the X to find ‘the treasure of this mission’.

Sometimes, he wakes up and is a ballerina. Other times, he’s a gang leader. And often times he dresses up as one of the other ninja and acts like them for the rest of the day.

Everyone blame Jay. It’s his fault for making him find out what cosplay was.

finally finished my project of collecting voiceclaims that are as close as i can find for my hcs of the main HoO cast - just for funsies so it's not as perfect as I'd like but whatever, it was a neat exploration and exercise of me trying to think of literally any franchise for voice actors.

Leo got two cause I had trouble of finding good clips for the voiceclaim that's closers to my hcs for him (the second half of his section). Also got to play the fun game of digging through my art for decent doodles of each character.

Also fun fact, I am almost completely unfamiliar with 3 franchises in this video and was just digging for voice clips on youtube. Try to guess which ones.

♡ crowe blackforest (right) regularly hosts/partakes in shows at the 404 livehouse (in sixth street)! - i'm talking live singin/dancing, burlesque, comedy roasts, vogue balls.. not only that but as the community 'Mother', she takes in and brings together people from all walks of life; those who have lost relatives to ethereals (monsters), those ostracized for their identity, those looking for a purpose, etc. and they'd even help crowe out with her shows!

♡ crowe is very much a refined older woman (34 years), emotionally mature kinda girlie,, and given she's a crow thiren (humanoid with animal traits), she's incredibly smart - known to exploit opportunities and tell who is being sincere with their intentions. just because she's a sweetheart doesn't mean she can't be vicious when facing ethereals or hostile forces; her nails turn into talons similar to that of a crow's in combat mode! and she's very protective of her community (& caesar) 🐦‍⬛

♡ as for her partner caesar king (left), she is the leader of a biker gang dubbed the sons of calydon! she's pretty strong and straightforward, always ambitious when it comes to being the overlord of the outer ring! 👑

♡ caesar may do things her own way but she also takes on any valid suggestions other people provide her! and once caesar gets to know/trust you, she *absolutely* trusts you. and did i mention that caesar's has a soft tender side? she's a big romantic at heart, super curious about romance stories & media.. you might even catch her blushing!

♡ while caesar is primarily the 'top' of the duo, it's crowe who has the reins; her charisma and great perception skills allow crowe to find ways to make caesar's heart race in any way she can..! like,, crowe finds it amusing when she teases/flirts with caesar and caesar's pure reactions brings her an endearing sense of awe <3

♡ they're both notable figures of their own regions (crowe being from new eridu, caesar being from the outer ring) - and they also work really well together in terms of fending off rival biker gangs (in the outer ring), beating ethereals & ensuring that both of their circles are thriving!

♡ they are incredibly sweet with each other.... even caesar's gang and crowe's followers take notice and egg them on shfhhfgh-

♡ pet names i'd imagine them going for;

● crowe → caesar; 'my (good) king, my darling, my dear overlord, cutie, pookie bear, honey'; (not to be confused with her casual use of 'honey~ 💅')

● caesar → crowe; 'my queen, babe, darling, sweetheart'
