Concept: post-leaving the cabin ending Quiet and Shifty, because they're still gods, just in a smaller form, most mortals struggle fully seeing what they look like.

Quiet just looks like a shadowy silhouette of a human, with maybe wings that sometimes appear, sometimes not. And even the Shifty's Stranger heart seems like just a regular person, tho no one can agree what they actually look like.

People don't usually give them a second thought, but the moment they try to describe them to others, or get a good look at them, they realize it's impossible to do so and get headaches. Only Quiet and Shifty (and all their smaller pieces) can see each other for what they truly are.

It’s probably bc I headcanon protagonist to be genderless (he’s the bird creature he needs no gender 😈)

But I believe he’s male by the canon (at least always referred to as him in game, so I assume so)

I didn’t want female Long Quiet to look like this meme 😭

Of course when people talk about how much skeptic is dependent on logic, it's about his view on the world as a functional system, but it's actually so funny to imagine him as an absolute fan of the actual logic theory.

Like not only cool deduction-induction style logic but also like..... Exaggerated admiration for truth tables. How he knows mnemonics from middle ages by heart (and probably all 256 three word reasoning combinations too). Proves his statements to himself by natural deduction rules just to double check. "Wait, let me formalize this so we all understand easier" and then proceeds to write compound propositional calculus formula, sees despair in their eyes, gives up and just draws euler diagrams. The more frustrated he becomes in an argument, the more he begins to speak in syllogisms, which sounds hilariously robotic, although he builds them surprisingly accurately on spot. But there's no one to appreciate it obviously.

You know. This side of logic.

Wish there were more after-the-ending fanfiction where he would cope with the construct's aftermath and all that by not letting go of logic, but with using non-traditional logic. Like he would love to get into researching all these new directions of it. He would hate most of them, no doubts, but some of them do explain the shifting mound better, and it could really help get his mind in the right place. Any logic system is an attempt at comprehension of the world, really, so if the previous system doesn't work he will question fundamental rules of his worldview, and this is what all new logics are about. And this fanfiction is actually just my university textbook on logic with funny drawings periodically so that I could understand it at least like that

Imagine him trying to grasp schrödinger logic, where even the law of identity isn't working. So anything is not equivalent even to itself. WHAT DOES THIS REMIND ME OF.......

tbh i think if cold had his own body he would be so fucking handsy. his ass is about new experiences and not only is goading responses outta people with unprompted touch is a funny way to do that people also have Textures and whatnot

WOAH, Voice designs and HCs be upon you underneath the cut!! (and doodles and wips of the other voices + TLQ!)

Okay so, left to right we have:

Hero, Hunted, Stubborn (who I’ve renamed Perseverant/Hunter) and Smitten!

Hero is mostly simple and if I gave him colors he’d be based off a peahen specifically! I hc TLQ and all the voices are being trans (either non-binary or non-binary trans masc)

Some of the voices wear clothing but it’s typically very minimal, as Hero is the closest to being “Human” or similar to a person- as I HC him to represent TLQ’s want of not being seen as a monster but a simple common folk and thinking that being a hero will grant them that and allow them to live amongst people - he wears a tunic and has the most regular and minimal bird like features

He has a small rounded snub beak and clawed hands and feet!! He’s among the shorter of the voices when visualized (this is also because TLQ imagines his large height is frightening and would prefer to be a normal height around others for their comfort (he doesn’t really have a lot of his own thoughts, he wishes he had a community and that’s how all the Voices split off)

Hero doesn’t have any wings, and only has slight feathers here and there though his tail feathers are quite long and curl at the ends, making they slightly fluffy. A lot of Hero’s design is to calm and placate others, he’s as cute a monster as most people could tolerate living amongst them without plotting to kill him at night.

Hero, like a good chunk of most of the voices, is bipedal! Choosing to walk upright as he’s not very comfortable walking on all fours (it hurts his back and he doesn’t like the dirt on his hands too much).

Out of all the voices, Hero most resembles that of TLQ in bass design, if only because he has the least unique features possible that would differentiate him from them.

Smitten my SON AND BABY!!

Both Hunter and Hunted are reflections of one another. Hunted is primarily quadrupedal both by choice and because of the ease it gives him when hunting! He’ll stand bipedally if needed of course like to grab something or open doors but otherwise he’ll run, stand, and sit on all fours.

He has long, feathered ears to listen out for both prey and predators and small wings that make him temporarily flight able but are better suited for gliding and such! His tail feathers are much shorter and similar to a feather duster to keep him from dragging and lagging behind too much when running or escaping.

Hunted wears a little cloak around his body for warmth that resembles an old brown tattered blanket that’s been wore with love <3

Due to being quadrupedal he’s technically one of the shortest voices but when Bipedal he’s Much taller than Hero so it doesn’t count (he also shares the same height with Hunter/Stubborn)

Neither Hunted nor Hunter have real beaks or mouths with which to speak! They simply have muzzle like faces and the words come out though they have been seen or shown to have some form of mouths when it’s time to consume food- otherwise the other voices aren’t quite sure How they eat all the prey they catch.

Hunter/Stubborn is a mirrored shard of Hunted! His feathers are much messier and mussed due to frequent attacks and harm being done to him- in addition to that his wings have also been Shattered and ripped to shreds. He can no longer fly or glide and is in a constant state of survival and anger.

He is Very mad and Will survive no matter the cost. He sports many cuts, bites, scars and wounds that have yet to heal or have healed improperly and his cloak is tattered not due to being well worn but because of the cost of survival. Safe to say wearing clothing doesn’t exactly bode well when running from predators- he has lost many chunks of skin and flesh for the sake of keeping his one comfort in the world.

All of this has led to Hunter being on the offense- better to Attack than Be Attacked, kill or be killed. He tends to spiral, goading himself into believing he likes the pain he inflicts upon others who aim to harm him when in reality he simple wants a chance to stop what he perceives to be a future threat and attack. He needs a hug and is very sad (he will bite you.)

Hunter is similar to a cat who gets touched a lot without his permission and acts as such, he very much prefers it when people ask.

Both he and Hunted represent TLQ and the ways they cope/react to their trauma. Hunter tries to turn it around to being something they enjoy, masking the pain as scars of battles won and survived while Hunted simply wants to live in safety and comfort without the fear of being hunted or perceived either negatively or positively. Together they’re two sides of the same coin and tend to comfort each other.

Smitten is very big, very fluffy, and yes is he indeed fat <3 Within his heart all the love is stored because as we all know skinny bitches have no hearts and the ones they do have are cold <3 /ref /J

Seriously though Smitten is a Big Boy with a Big personality and we love that! His eyes are mostly obscured as he’s blinded by love! So while he can see enough to move around in a space he can’t really see things for how they are.

Similar to male birds in real life, Smitten has Many colors! He actually has some of the most out of the voices as well as some of the largest plume (chest fluff) and tail feathers! He’s big and flashy for a reason man.

Smitten has the most symbols with symbolic meaning than the rest of the voices have mostly to symbolize his love! He has a big heart patch on his chest, arms, legs, hands, and cheeks! He’s a lover, not so much of a fighter unless he has to but he’s not perfect! It’s why his ears and arms don’t have identically colored markings!

Smitten has a much rounder and full beak that makes up his face, similar to Opportunist! (See wip above) His eyes are usually closed to give him a dreamy expression and so his mouth is Much more expressive! He talks with his hands and often flaps his arms which ends up making really big gusts of air as he has the most feathered “wings” out of every Voice.

I can’t remember but I’m fairly sure that when I was creating him I based him off of a bleeding heart dove and a pigeon- basically he’s baby, argue with the wall <3

The Long Quiet…the Biggest Boy.

Now, despite having visualizations, all the voices are Still just Voices. For TLQ it’s just an easier way to envision all the noise in their head without going insane from everyone talking, it’s easier if they have a point from which they’re coming!

So the voices each have their own little designs and looks that are based off of TLQ! This is based off of my own OSDD! Specifically OSDD 1a, so most of the Voices are literally just alternate looks/forms of TLQ rather than being entirely different. I imagine for TLQ he actually wishes that they looked more like the voices and has quite a lot of trouble actually envisioning Themselves, which is why we seldom see them and their full body in game.

Safe to say they have Major dysphoria and are definitely trans but their attitude is like “We ain’t got time for allat” (they need therapy).

While TLQ wants to appear as Normal to other people as they imagine hero would be, they actually wish they had a bit more of Smitten’s build. Being less sharp edges and intimidation would be a lot easier for meeting new people, especially when ur a soft floofy bird and not a Large Bird Monster.

TLQ coos more than they actually Speak. The Princess just understands them and what they mean, miraculously, so communication is never a problem. If they actually tried to talk though it would be something more similar to The Cold with long and odd pauses in between words, while also being slightly garbled as they aren’t really Huge on talking considering most of their conversations are in their head. When pet TLQ actually does a bit of a rumbly purr! They don’t get pet much and Love physical affection.

And, lastly, to end my super long hc post-

TLQ always fixes up their plume, crest, and face feathers before meeting the Princess with the hopes of making a good first impression (and having her think they’re cute) they try very hard pls be nice to them (and no they don’t smile, they don’t have enough teeth for it to look pleasant)

New Headcanon: Voice of the Cheated is a Silkie Chicken!

I just learned about them today and everything about them honestly just fits the vibe. Small, fluffy, and would most likely have a full arsenal of swear words!

Ranking the voices for how good they are with kids:

- Hero: the perfect amount of fun and responsible. A child can easily trust him as both a playmate and someone who'll keep them safe.

- Hunted: always makes sure a child's needs are being met, including the need for fun and downtime. Very good with practical advice, and will always make sure a child has the proper skills to survive as they grow up. Not as good at giving social advice, but hey, emotional support hare-birb-thing

- Cheated: has a surprising amount of patience for kids. Treats them fairly and never talks down to them, making her a trustworthy adult in the eyes of a child.

- Contrarian: mini-people who are just discovering themselves and often do the opposite of what you say just for the heck of it??? He understands them on a fundamental level and often has a lot of fun just being silly with them. Not as comfortable in a more responsible role, but will try

- Stubborn: aside from overestimating a child's endurance and strength– he's pretty good with kids!! Play-wrestles with them and lets them ride on his shoulders while he runs around. Also great at giving pep talks, and will never let a child be put down by bullies in his watch

- Cold: much like Cheated, is surprisingly patient with kids and always talks on the same level as them. Is genuinely invested in what they have to say (kids say and do some of the most interesting things, after all), making kids very at ease around them. Do not trust it to properly take care of a child tho. It can barely take care of themself

- Opportunist: Talks funny and his exaggerated body language is very amusing to children. Makes them feel smart and respected when talking to them, and can even trick them into eating their vegetables. Do not let him stay alone with any child for long tho, he Will try to recruit them to help him with scams

- Smitten: while his mannerisms and general attitude means kids will love staying around him, he cannot be trusted to properly reign in hyperactive children. will encourage any idea they have no matter how stupid it is. needs to be supervised alongside the children

- Broken: similar to Smitten, though with much less energy. Won't stand up to even the most polites of kids, so can easily be walked all over by any 6yo

- Skeptic: Kids are…… way too unpredictable for him. Adults are easy enough to read and navigate a conversation with, but how do you even start interacting with kids?!?!? What if he says something wrong and sends them down a path of self-destruction??!? What if they pull off his hat and drool on it??? Better to keep his distance and let people with more affinity to kids do their thing–

- Paranoid: NOOOOOOOPE. NOT TOUCHING THAT VOLATILE SACK OF HORMONES AND HYPERACTIVITY WITH A SIX-FEET POLE–

alright since im here . here are my ideas for what is going on in the long quiet

there he is, in his god form and his killable form

the will is a force they have that sometimes they fight over. they can pull and fight for more will, but the newer voices have more access to get more of it. the narrator can only take control of LQ in the first chapter because there are no voices to fight for the will. Hero can access it but doesn't immediately, the first chapter is initially entirely up to LQ/the player, and if the narrator interferes

in the moment of clarity, no voice takes the will because they've all given up, so there are no options; only what LQ does. in the Razor, the cheated tries to make as many options as possible, but realizes that is not the solution. he cuts the will and leaves it in the hands of LQ.

for the mirrors; this is whats going on there. they keep breaking off into "shards of glass." when the route ends, they are fused back together, which is why all the voices are afraid of it; they are made whole into LQ. for the Moment of Clarity, the voices don't have a say, and LQ would see himself as he is, in full clarity, with his will at his own hands.

Back to my last post about skeptic and logic. Can't really draw it out but picture me this. Skeptic stands with some random png of the dog. Contrarian walks up

S: I'm sorry, but it doesn't work like that. This is a flawed argument based on a misapplication of analogy. Both "being a parent" and "being someone's" are predicates, so they can only be prescribed to individuals and not be used as one - they're general terms, you might say, so they denote a category. "My mother" or the dog on the other hand are singular terms that just have predicates of motherhood, but while being in the same category they can also be in different others. You equated certain predicates with big categories by naming them similarly.

S: And moreover, by interpreting the meaning of the predicates differently, you created the fallacy of fourth terms. "Having a pet" and "being born from" are existentially different concepts and it's only a coincidence they are denoted the same by our language. Another linguistic system might not have this problem but have multiple others. That's why sophistry doesn't work. By relying on linguistical rules you limit yourself to the paradigm of the language you're speaking, which is changeable and subjective. To find the real truth rationally you have to use something not as human-like as words are.

how do the two of you kiss when the protagonist/hero/slayer/long quiet has a beak?

💛I immediately jumped on this one because I have STRONG feelings about our local bird boy and his touch-starved-ness. Hope you enjoy~!

How to Kiss a Bird Man

-Very carefully. -Jokes aside, kissing a beaked creature, no matter how determined, isn't exactly a straightforward task... But quitting is for losers, and he deserves kisses. -Quiet hasn't had much in the way of non-hostile physical touch in quite awhile, with his only positive non-princess company being voices in his head.

So that task is yours. -The presence of a beak is only a limiter if you believe kisses have to be lips on lips. There are SO many creative ways to kiss, and he wants them all. -First thought that comes to mind is just kissing along the top of his beak like you would kiss the tip of someone's nose. That level of face-to-face closeness is super sweet and intimate. -Kisses to the cheek and forhead too: thin, soft feathers make it very easy for him to feel it, and there's always something tender about a forehead kiss.

But the face isn't the only place that needs attention. -He has a neck and shoulders covered in down feathers, ready for you to bury your nose in and snuggle into. -And of course we have the most sensitive part of any bird-esque creature... the wings. -If you manage to sneak up behind him and plant smooches on his wings, you're going to end up with a very surprised, very flustered birdie. -Or you could always take it a step further: getting him to lay down on his stomach while plant touches and kisses all along his wings. That's a sure fire way to rile him up and get him needy and flustered. -All kisses, like any touch really, is good, and he's sure to be receptive to most any positive physical touch you're willing to share.

So, what about Him? How does He kiss you? -It is a little hard with the beak, but little gentle soft pecks to cheeks or shoulders or even the neck. Very gentle, very slow, just touching his beak to you. -He never suprises you with these because he's definitely worried that he'll startle you and you'll accidentally bump yourself on it. He really doesn't want you to get hurt because he tried to kiss you, especially since good touch is so new to him. -But he's found a middle ground touch he's very happy with: gently headbutting you every chance he gets. -Little bumps on the arms, shoulders, back, just whenever he can. Never with much force, just tiny little reminders that he sees you and loves you and wants your attention. -His favorite version of this is when he gets the chance to rest his forehead against yours. It's just so sweet and intimate, and he dosn't have to worry about hurting you. -Please let this bird boy show you how much he cares for you.
