Sorry I need to rant for a tiny, little bit, because...

You know what I find particularly funny?

Their version of Buddie simply does not exist.

And I am not talking about how it is not canon, that is a given. But their version of it. The things they've claimed they do, or feel about each other, or think of each other.

(Disclaimer: I have my own opinion of their friendship and I do believe there are way better friendships within the show, including for Buck. But I do acknowledge they do love each other as friends and deeply care about one another. And that Chris is important for Buck. That is not up to discussion here. Okay, we can go on)

They have this whole "Buckley-Diaz is a family" that consists of Buck spending 99% of his free time at the Diaz house, of them having weekly movie nights, and of Buck taking Chris to school almost as much as Eddie does. And this is simply not true.

We do see Buck spending time at the Diaz house, of course. When he's hanging out with the Diazes (something that, might I point out, has not really happened since Season 4, as the few scenes we got of them hanging out since have been at Buck's loft - correct me if I'm wrong), helping Eddie out, in a group setting, and hiding from his sister and her helicopter babysitting. Movie nights- when is it even mentioned this is something they do weekly? Not once. And please correct me if I am wrong. Buck does not take Chris to school almost daily, not because he did after Eddie's breakdown does it mean this is a normal and usual occurrence. It doesn't mean it isn't, to be fair, but nothing in canon tells us otherwise. I will give them the zoo, however, because in canon we do have Eddie saying Buck takes Chris there all of the time.

What we got, however, was scenes showing how Buck has his own independent life. He has lots of scenes in his loft, as much as Buddies hate it, as we have never gotten an off-handed comment on how little he's spending there because he's at the Diazes all the time. We've gotten scenes of Buck reaching out to people who are not Eddie for help. And oh, of course - we have gotten scenes of his family (whether you like the Buckleys or not) having a family dinner. And guess who was not invited? Oh, right.

(We have, also, gotten enough scenes with Tommy that we know post-going official, they spend most of their free time with each other. Thank you to Bobby for also confirming this. We love you, king)

With the Diazes, we got scenes that showed how Eddie and Chris exist on their own, without needing Buck there to complete their family. We got a whole ep where Eddie was dealing with Chris's new crush, and instead of making that be a Buckley-Diaz 'family' storyline, Carla was the one accompanying Eddie and being the other adult in the situation. We can say whatever we want about the dating debacle at the end of Season 6 (I also think it was a mess, but for the way they rushed it), but Eddie did not say: oh, Chris and I are fine, we have Buck. And he did not say it because it simply would not have made sense.

And oh, I could go on and on on how the Eddie they have in Fanon is also not the one we have, but this is way too long already. Do let me know if anyone wants to hear it though. Although I will probably write it down whenever I am bored enough.

Short story very long: Buck and Eddie are good friends. They respect each other and clearly enjoy each other's company. And the show has definitely played with the concept of family for them (looking directly at the elf from season 2 here), but never too serious. Never in canon. Outside of the 118 being a family (which I am not denying), at least for me, it has always been obvious how Eddie and Chris were very valued by Buck, but his close-knit family (nuclear family, if you will) is and has always been Maddie (now extended to Jee-Yun and Chim as well), and Bobby (something he's admitted in canon, before someone comes at me for this).

Now, thankfully, we have Tommy to join in in there as well ☺️

Ranting about TSS

I would like to start by saying, yes, I am fully aware I don't post fandom rants very often (ESPECIALLY SASI). However, I've been feeling rather upset over the fandom and Thomas.

I would also like to mention that in no way is this attacking Thomas or any of his writers, hell, not even the fandom itself. I just need to let all of this out.

To start, I am so just...tired? It's been so frustrating waiting for a finale for four fucking years and getting the bait and switch every time Thomas makes a post about 'upcoming Sanders Sides content!'

I understand taking time to work on something so important to cannon, but four years? I can also give him a little leeway for having some staff issues, but it's almost painful to only keep getting the series we love get downgraded so harshly over the years.

Almost all of the sides have been made so two dimensional. At first they felt so fleshed out, so real, and fandom focused their character on one sole trait (not unforgivable but a bit frustrating). Then, I guess Thomas just picked up on fandom and decided 'yeah! I'll just make them two dimensional too!' That's not what we want. And frankly that's never what we wanted. Occasionally, he'll give us breadcrumbs of character development, or show us a sliver of light to what they once were, but it's never the same.

And frankly, I feel bad for having my hopes so high for the finale. Sure it's been taking four years, but that doesn't mean it will be perfect, hell, it might suck. Of course, I will watch it, but I won't be happy about it. About the lies, about the bait and switch, about the constant merch plugs over actual content, about the four incorrect quotes over working on the finale, about the prioritizing of under five minutes long videos that no one will watch anyways.

I love that Thomas is working on things that make him happy, and I don't think I'll ever stop being happy about that, but he needs to take into heart that without content, merch won't sell anyways.

He made a tweet recently that said that we would be getting the finale in an uncertain number of weeks, but based on the past four years I don't even think it will come out at all. If it does, I swear that if we get a merch plug in the finale I'm going to lose my shit.

I want him to see that fandom can't carry itself, and that if he doesn't have that finale have the actually well done makeup we've been begging for, or have our three dimensional characters back, then he won't have a fandom at all.

I'm almost angry that this is my special interest at this point, I'm so let down by the direction the series is probably headed.

I hope that no one takes this the wrong way, and if people leave death threats in my inbox (which has happened to people posting ts crit; no i'm not joking) then trust that you won't be answered. No one is to tag Thomas on this post, and if Thomas even finds this post then heed the words I've said. This isn't a threat to you, and frankly it never was. What is it is the frustrations of a tired and exasperated fan.

I'm sorry if this has rubbed anyone the wrong way, I apologize if it has. I hope this doesn't make people think I'm becoming some TSS hater, I'm really not. But I'm frustrated, and that's normal

hi would like to make this clear that this is gonna be an unhinged rant about my college classes.

For context, one of my classes is a semester-long group project (hell) and I pitched the idea of solar powered community fridges to my group and we rolled with it. Here's a post i made on it previously. We don't have to make the fridges themselves, basically just talk about the problem our concept addresses (food insecurity in this case) and how we think this concept would work and how, in a hypothetical reality where we made it real, we would test to see if it worked.

Anyways we had to post the rough draft of our presentations so people in other groups could see what we were doing and comment on them with their thoughts and all. Yknow. Classic 'college class discussion board have to reply to at least one project with quality feedback' stuff. And

Man.

I am so frustrated.

Highlights:

My group keeps insisting that we should have an app for the solar fridges. I don't know why they think app design needs to fit into community fridges but they put it into the draft posted to the forum.

In this case they proposed the app would be kinda like Instacart? Where people who want to donate to the fridges but don't have groceries on them and don't feel like going to get groceries can put in money and then people will then go buy the groceries to put in the fridge. Or use the funds to help with fridge maintenance. And the fridges would have 'QR codes, links, etc. to connect community members for the common cause of helping tackle food insecurity in the community.'

Lots of the comments were pretty good! People liked the idea. There were some concerns about insulation and keeping things cool with low energy cost (the program is online but the college itself is in Georgia USA so many people are in Georgia) but yknow.

But the frustrating part to me I guess is that a lot of people seem convinced that people would use the fridges 'unfairly' and that we'd need to find a way to restrict how much food people can take out or how many times they can use it or something. Which frankly in my opinion defeats the purpose of it being a community fridge. Here are some examples of things people have said so far (comments are due tomorrow evening but I'm mad now so I'm venting now):

One student said "How will you know if the pantry is being utilized fairly?" and "How will the app work? In a dream world, this might be a way to help with tracking and accountability. (Just a thought…) Maybe folks would need to sign up on the app, they get a code… and the fridge acts as a sort of vending machine to deliver what they need. This would give you data to measure success. :)"

Which. I just. This feels completely antithetical to the purpose of a community fridge??? Or a community anything???? Little free pantries and little free libraries don't operate on a 'you get a code to access it once' vending machine basis?? We even mentioned community farm stalls/community pantries in the draft write up! And showed examples!

Another student said "Great thoughts. I am concerned about one person taking all the food for themselves. It might be a great idea to have them in an enclosed area with access control through the app that would log and lock out people who are overusing the resource. Perhaps a barcode could be added to Apple Wallet to track each individual's arrival? Possibly having a mechanized lock and opening mechanism that would only allow each fridge to be open for a specific time before automatically closing and locking? Each scan would only allow access once each 24-48 hour period, preventing "password sharing.""

I cannot emphasize enough that this is the comment that has brought me here today because with all due respect what the flying fuck do you think is the point of a community fridge! I'm already prickly about the idea of limiting access to the fridge itself to only people with cellphones, but to this degree?! Like maybe its because I'm the one who came up with the concept and I care about terms like 'mutual aid' and 'community building' and 'judgement free accessibility to food' but have these people not heard of the concept of helping people?!?! With no strings attached?!? If someone takes all the contents of a community fridge or pantry--which, seriously, how likely is that--they're probably hungry and need it! The concept of putting community resources behind a lock and limiting accessibility is just repulsive to me???

Like someone else commented with this excellent point--"As several have addressed above, I am also wondering how would you monitor use? If you use the simplicity of the honor system, it could easily be taken advantage of. However, I feel like if you were to create some sort of access code, how is it to say that they people needing the use of the fridge will have access to the necessary technology to get the code? It's a tricky situation to think about." For the purposes of this hypothetical assignment where we'd need to track how many people are using the fridges? Yeah I guess we'd need to be able to track how many people use it and when. But in reality??? In real life reality where people are living and struggling and hungry??? I just don't really give a shit!! Helping five people is better than helping none, and locking access behind technology everyone pretends is universal but really isn't is not the way to help!

And of course one of my groupmates is already commenting on all these posts like 'oh! I really like the idea of restricting access to a code! :)' even when someone said 'hey my family struggled with food insecurity when I was a kid and I think this would be helpful but not if you could only access it with an app some of the most vulnerable citizens wouldn't be able to access it I wouldn't have been able to access it' my groupmate was still like 'oh but that wouldn't be a problem today now would it? :) Maybe we should make a way to get a code without downloading the app :)' like maybe there shouldn't be an access code in the first place?!?!

Like am I crazy or like. What the fuck. Again I am here so I don't blow up on a bunch of masters students in a discussion post but like UGH

"you gotta be able to gague if the people who're using it are the people who actually need it" food insecurity can look so many different ways for so many different reasons and you can't always judge by appearances and income levels who is struggling to feed themselves or their families!! There are people who have nice jobs who are struggling because they're caring for sick family members or kids or dealing with student loans or ANYTHING! There are people with nice clothes who are trying to decide between buying groceries and paying rent! There are people living in their cars or couch surfing looking for jobs who also happen to own an XBox or a Laptop!!! "Sorry you can't access the community fridge because you don't look poor and needy enough to me. but if you do, good news--you can only use it once every 48 hours so make it last!" Bullshit utter bullshit.

I talk to people in my life about things like community fridges and little free pantries and mutual aid and the like and people are always like 'ok but theres gotta be strings attatched' BUT ACTUALLY NO THERE DON'T GOTTA!!! Maybe we could change how we view our fellow human beings and stop assuming that everyone around you are greedy little demons looking to ruin everything good and that you are the only holy and righteous saint on the streets who understands the concept of 'community resources' and 'sharing' maybe??? It's like that post about community fruit trees where people are like 'oh but what if people steal all the fruit' like HELLO? how do you STEAL a PUBLICALLY ACCESSIBLE RESOURCE

I'm tired of this goddamn class I'm tired of this goddamn group project if anyone actually has the ability to make a solar powered community fridge you have to promise to keep it accessible and not put it behind locks and QR codes and limited access and facial tracking BS promise me promise me promise me

That super fun little shape in his skull? Heh.. so that is a “religious” symbol representing purity and cleansing within the village. I think you can pretty much guess what happened there, but I’ll expand more on that in the fic!! The first chapter actually shows the full Apple incident.. it’s written but I want to get the first 3 done before anything…

(Ik it’s been months but I’ve been busy and am really picky with my writing.. unfortunately..)

Fun facts and tidbits about Nightmare! (Not lore heavy but fun)

- He’s actually pretty clumsy.. especially with his tendrils! He has very poor control of them and often breaks things (and even occasionally hurts people on accident but that’s rare)

- Totally mot lore but FADT!NM x FADT!Killer actually has their “own” ship name.. I tend to refer to them as NewMoon. I also use this for Swan x Killer because they have similar dynamics and FADT!NM is definitely a little inspired by Swan. (Thanks .randomcat that name :3)

- He actually has pretty frequent panic attacks (side effect of the trauma :P). Whenever he needs negativity (feeling sick without it) he actually has a bit of a breakdown. Killer often makes negativity without telling Nightmare, but Nightmare gets better at asking for what he needs at some point. (NEWMOON SAVE ME- and yes they’re absolutely cannon if you couldn’t tell)

- Nightmare and Ink actually know each other. Well. moving on!!

- Nightmare’s memory from when he was younger is.. blurry.. he also sometimes get really bad migraines- all this is a sideffect from his head injury.

ANYWAY TIME FOR A BIG RANT!!! :D

I’ve mentioned it before but Narcolepsy (With Cataplexy) , his cataplexy is pretty mild and mainly triggered when he experiences stronger emotions- more often with positive but it can happen with any. It shows up with smaller things like his finer motor function like: his hands being weak, his eyes drooping a bit, semi-slurred speech (rarely noticed by other people cause his southern accent making it sound like an exaggerated“southern drawl”)

Ah, building onto this- his Narcolepsy has a role in the reason why the villagers treated him so badly. He was isolated, he never interacted with the villagers because it was hard for him. He didn’t really have the energy to and being near the tree physically gave him more energy. The isolation meant Night never proved their rumors wrong, they just spiraled. FURTHERMORE his Narcolepsy was from an autoimmune disease, so he was sick often. In the villagers eyes he was cursed.. and it didn’t help the fact that his brother was the opposite being energetic, strong, healthy- constantly. It really just pushed the “Negativity is a Curse and Positivity is a blessing” idea..

[Also I personally don’t have experience with Narcolepsy so y’all feel free to correct me on anything but I put a decent amount of research into Night so I hope it’s decent representation while still being a bit more magic based]

Hi! Wow, you answered that ask faster than I thought you would XD (I am gift headcanon anon for clarity). And yeah, I probably should have sent an ask before with the headcanon I had that the rescue bots suffer varied levels of survivors guilt before I sent that other one for context, whoops. (Spoilers: long rant ahead, (and also may get a little dark?) I don't know where boundaries lie, I'm sorry) I know Rescue Bots is a kids show and can't really go in depth with the war like in Prime, but I really wished they had little snippets with the bots having 'reality checks' every once in a while that cybertron was gone and struggled with that fact. Blades feels it the most because he is an anxious mess that lets his thoughts get away from him. So the fact that they went into stasis only to wake up and find everything/everyone they known and loved was gone for millions of years…that would mess anyone up real bad. And the fact it was all gone because of a long, brutal war they completely missed by sheer luck?! That's not something you just brush off.

I can imagine in the beginning Blades remembering friends/family he'd love to talk to about earth and his new mission only to get slammed by the reality that those bots he talked to a few days ago are long since gone and he can't talk to them ever again! PLUS the fact that Decepticons hit Rescue Bots first thing in the war and Sigma 17 were the only rescue bots to survive the bullet! The last four of their kind. I refuse to believe Blades didn't immerse himself in human movies and internet so he wouldn't spiral. He knows deep down he's not responsible for what happened, nor could he control anything afterwards, but after seeing new cybertron it's really hard not to think about the people he knew that don't get to enjoy this new peaceful world. And he feels he can't confide to Bee because how do you tell a war veteran with serious trauma that you feel guilty because you took a nap for millions of years only to wake up and play hero with humans while he and his team battled horrors beyond your belief just to survive everyday of a brutal war that killed your whole planet and everyone on it?! You do not dump 'Sorry I wasn't there to watch all of these terrible things you experienced, but I kinda sort of wish I did so I can feel I deserve to be here and enjoy this without my spark eating itself alive from thinking about how many suffered while I got off scott free'. Nope, nu-uh, not saying anything, hey look at that new thing! That looks like fun hahaha!!!

(I am so sorry this got so long (and got a little too dark?). I honestly love Blades to bits but sometimes I do wish they were more in the Prime continuity so we can get more backstory/inner thoughts/growth from their characters.)

Tho I imagine Blades does have a boiling point. Kinda a follow-up on the last ask you sent as well, but Blades and Bee are staying at a place during their time in Cybertron. Bee returns to the room only to see Blades with his back turned and making little sounds. He asks if he's okay only for Blades to turn around and he's just crying big Ghibli tears

Of course seeing Blades cry makes his whole world stop so he goes up to immediately hold him. Blades of course tries to make a joke but it just makes him look more pathetic.

"H-Heatwave said we couldn't cry. He's such a liar! I've done it before a-and I'm doing it now!" But he can't hold it in anymore and his voice breaks with a sob "I'm sorry!' "What are you sorry for?" "I'm supposed to be enjoying this trip and I'm ruining it!" "You're not ruining anything. You're upset...Blades you can talk to me...you dont have to but you can."

That's when it all spills out.

"I just can't stop thinking about everything from before! I miss my family! I miss my friends! I miss the rink! Everything I remembered from home is different or gone! I could have seen them off but I missed it all because of a stupid energon eater! And while I was in stasis all of that got destroyed! I should be grateful that I didn't experience the war but I feel like I'm being tortured! I know it's not true, but for some reason it feels like my fault! AND NOW IM RUINING THIS TRIP BY BEING SAD ABOUT IT!"

Bee just holds him tighter. He knows he can't exactly relate, but he wants to comfort Blades as much as he can. So, while holding him, he lets Blades have a good cry.

"What can I do to help you feel better?" *sniff* "I like this actually..." "Good. You've been holding in a lot, haven't you?" "Mmm..." "I can't say I relate completely. But know I'm here for you if you need anything. Even if it's just for this." "Thank you...Heh. It's funny. I remember getting teased a lot for being a crybaby back when I was younger. It got to the point I tried my best to hide somewhere whenever I did." "Sad that we weren't friends then. You could have cried around me if you wanted. Knowing how I was, I probably would have tried to make you laugh by doing something stupid." "Hehe...It would have probably worked. I was easily amused." "...Tell me more." "About what?" Just a bit of a personal thought, but I have grown to deeply dislike how social media, with its' competitive algorithm and need to have a perfect performance, is often giving people a really wrong idea of what is it actually to do art.

Most times, artists are rewarded by posting only their best work: A badly performing post in places like Instagram may affect how well your next post performs. It also prefers you to post finished pictures, very presentable sketches, that kind of stuff. Which is rarely the bulk of an artists' work. Even speedpaints have been chewed down into palatable videos barely reaching 15 seconds. Tiktok and Instagram reels prefer extremely short videos, and speedpaints are mostly just few (sparkles) aesthetic (sparkles) shots of minuscule parts of the process.

And all of that, I've found, gives people this really weird image of what is art actually like. A lot of starting artists grow to make idols out of bigger ones, thinking that these people can only create perfect pieces effortlessly, but that's not how it works. Very far from that. It's mostly that artists that keep active social media and have grown to know the game, know that showing the rough parts of art is not what gets you favoured by the algorithm.

I've been thinking about this ever since I saw a video on twitter of a fairly long speedpaint for what you usually see in social media, I think 4 minutes long, where the person redrew portions of the sketch up to five times. And a lot of people mentioned it was enlightening to see the struggle, to see that even a competent artist sometimes will struggle doing a little phone cord for an hour.

I think that's something I have kind of experienced, too. I'm not a big artist, but a lot of people have mentioned they find me intimidating still, up until they know me on Discord or something and realize I'm just a goof like any other. Up until I mention a face refused to work for 2 hours and I gave up, or how I randomly keep learning new basic functionalities in my drawing software of choice. And I think that's crucial to share too: Art is not a linear road! It isn't a smooth trip! You'll fail again and again and sometimes will end up going back to a previous point, then take another path. Sometimes you render a whole drawing and decide it looks bad so you start over. Sometimes you realize the lines came out wonky as hell and end up redoing it. Sometimes you gave a character 6 fingers or forgot people have eyebrows. It happens! And it's part of what making art is!

I mentioned this on Twitter- I rarely have visible proof of these struggles, but for an Artfight drawing (where I am trying to be speedy), I struggled with a cloak. For long. I made a thumbnail, I made a sketch, realized the cloak didn't work out, so I redrew it over and over again. I deleted most of the discarded sketches, but here's a few of the things that survived.

And like, I'm tired of not talking about this! I'm sad that people think they're failing because their art process isn't as smooth as it could be! So, yeah: I guess rant over, but I just have been thinking about this a bunch lately. If you'd like, do please feel free to reblog or share in replies any similar situations, struggles and flops. I think it could help people to realize how this is actually just a natural part of the process.

You smile as you hear the door opening, signaling that Lando was home from the grand prix. That night as he fucked you, you couldn't help but think. Why would he make you feel like this, like this is how it is supposed to be. Coming home to you after a race weekend. Kissing you as you wake up, laying next to each other as you talk about the future you want to have.

As you think about it. He would only call you when he was lonely, to make up for the empty space. He needed to have someone by his side when he wanted, and not when you wanted it.

As Lando wanted to kiss you, you pushed him off you, making him groan in annoyance. "What was that for?"

You sit up straighter in bed and cover your body with the duvet, "What are we?"

"Are we a couple?" you swallow in pity as you ask the question, " We do all these things. You take me on dates, show me places I have never been before and then ignore me for the rest of the week."

Lando cleared his throat as his hands scratched the back of his neck. He gave you your shirt to put on as he sat down on the other side of the bed, "I guess the timing that we met isn't right. We can't be something right now, but maybe in the future I would like to. " you rolled your eyes at his statement. The right person, wrong time isn't thing. If you were the right person for him, the time wouldn't matter.

"Then why do you act like you like me? " you ask "So why'd you fuck me like you love me while you looked me in the eyes. If you knew that I was nothing but a way to pass the time?" you had to keep the tears from forming in your eyes as you looked at him. "You just used me because you were bored." the words were more breathed out than said as your voice kept breaking in between them.

Lando was quiet as you ranted about all of your words. You took it as a sign that you were right. You got up from the bed and put on the rest of your clothes. "I will get the rest tomorrow." you walk out of the door and leave him behind in a pile of guilt.

It would be a lie to say you weren't disappointed but you were not surprised. You already knew the answer to the question before you asked it. You were used to it, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt. He just liked the idea of you, but he didn't like you.

GHOSTFACERS (Supernatural, Season 3, Episode 13)

Literally absolutely completely ADORED this. It's up there with Tall Tales in my book, and scenes keep playing in my head but I don't know if I actually have anything specific to say lol (but Dean and Sam driving by real slow in the Impala while Sam shines his flashlight on the Ghostfacers who they totally saw and heard run behind the bush, and still see and hear hiding behind the bush, while rock music plays bc the windows of the car are down is going to live in my brain rent free until I get to Season 4 where Cas will inevitably take that place).

Also YES LET MY BOYS FUCKING CUSS. Shocked me to my very core that Sam was the first of them to do just that, and that he did it TWICE but Dean finally getting to say fuck? (even though it's bleeped, it's so obvious) absolutely legendary. Him saying fucking three times in one sentence? Honestly more canon than canon to me.

SAM WITH THE PARTY HAT AND BLOOD CAKED ON HIS NOSE AND UNDER HIS EYE WHILE IT'S MY PARTY PLAYS IN THE BACKGROUND IS TOP TIER. YES PLEASE. DELICIOUS. BEAUTIFUL SHOTS IN THE NIGHT VISION. But he looks so smol :( and helpless :( compared to the monster/dude. Which is TERRIFYING because he is 6'4"!! What is bigger than him!

Anyway, said I had nothing to say and ranted anyway, in classic me fashion lol. Guess I'll end it with saying ABSOLUTE shout out to the camera crew because the shots are IMMACULATE and I ADORE the shaky camera that makes it seem very unprofessional like the Ghostfacers are, and making it more engaging so it feels like I'm actually a character in the show, running with my phone that happens to be recording. Also thank you to whoever gave us all the sweet sweet shots that make it seem like Sam or Dean is RIGHT THERE, TALKING TO US. I COULD LITERALLY REACH OUT AND TOUCH THEM FROM HERE. The set up is phenomenal, I love how you get to feel like a character in the show and be involved. ALSO ALSO, super small thing, but I love when Dean leaves the Ghostfacers alone after he just broke up there fight to go keep looking for Sam and you can hear him yelling, "Sammy!" in the distance but it ACTUALLY SOUNDS DISTANT LIKE YOU HEAR IT LIKE HE'S A WAYS AWAY. THIS EPISODE FEELS LIKE A FAN-MADE POV 3DIO EXPERIENCE AND I AM HERE FOR IT.

Anyway! Explanations go:

1 - Bloodborne - Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower - largely self-explanatory. I would have exchanged her for Genshin's Raiden Shogun for the more accurate "draws swords from own body" visual, BUT the fun part is I actually didn't know she did that. So the Baal sword and Mael's solid shadow weapons are a complete coincidence 💀

Furthermore, Lady Maria's general aesthetic influenced my own design a good deal. Sadly, necromancers can't wear medium armor.

2 - Hollow Knight - God of Gods/Shade Lord - just the vibes for his Shroud... or is it something more? :P I guess we shall see once I iron out some plot points. Some people might know because I rant in DMs. Devouring darkness my beloved. Inspiration for a potential "corrupted form" for a fractal where the story went really wrong.

3 - Norse Mythology - Fenrir - core inspiration. Chain/binding motif, being something dangerous, even to gods. Power that needs suppressing. Everlasting hunger, being the doomed being with the potential to doom others in return. A... specific relationship with the sun. A certain someone losing a hand within the mouth of the beast.

His swords are named Dromi and Lædingr after the first two chains that bound Fenrir. He's currently looking for a way to devise a "perfect spell" to allow complete control over his volatile magic and stop the demon essence from further warping his body and affecting his mind - that spell, or perhaps item, being Gleipnir.

4 - Tower of God - Khun Aguero Agnes - personality and mannerisms inspiration, particularly post-The Departing. "The Commander when he locks the fuck in." Devilishly intelligent and not afraid to utilize underhanded methods, but ultimately a good person. A true silver tongue. Moderately to severely grumpy at times. Dramatic flair. Gay boy rizz.

5 - Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress - Ikoma - the survivor. Undead but won't take the L and keeps on going no matter what. Self-engineered restraints to keep his affliction under control, dog motif, being willing to do terrible things to his own body simply to stop himself becoming a monster. A heart replaced by a core.

6 - Legend of Vox Machina - Percy de Rolo - I have actually not watched this show yet (I really damn need to) the visuals, the gunplay, the demonic possession and those deep black eyes with yellow irises? Checks out. I made Mael in 2014, so, again, coincidence, but it's a really good-looking coincidence :-)

Devastated cause a genuinely very nice coworker, turned out full conspiracy theorist. "X country is now the most corrupt country on earth, well except for Ukraine." Sigh. I'm tired. I can't imagine how much more exhausted Ukrainians abroad must be with this shit. At least, they said Ukraine, instead of Zelensky, didn't pretend to respect the country by only accusing the president.

They also said it was a proxy war, what else is new, I pointed out it was Ukrainians fighting against russia, not the US (especially not now), but it was useless. It was like they couldn't hear me. Freaking scary that what it is.

Have you had similar incidents in which you felt like your support for Ukraine (and Zelensky) could make your interlocutor flip?

I'm so glad they didn't namedrop Zelensky, I had a coworker who was convinced the russian fake-news about him were true and was accusing him of killing his people for his own profit. I kept calm. I don't know how.

Meanwhile, Ukrainians in Ukraine are in drone hell each night. The blitz lasted 43 nights. It's been over 1000 nights for Ukraine. Seems like nobody cares in Europe, seems like they think it's normal, that Ukrainians are made to endure russian sadism.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this, especially at work, and I admire (and envy) your self-control.

The thing I hear the most about the war in Ukraine is "That's still happening?" and it drives me insane. When it comes from my friends nonetheless, it makes me question why we're still friends. And because I don't want to damage our friendship, I smile (a bit psychopathically) and say "Yes, and it's getting worse." I've actually gone from seeing my closest group of friends every week/bi-weekly to once every 3-4 months; they always change the subject when I bring up Ukraine, and so most of the times I would just sit there quietly while they talked about mundane things.

The second thing I hear most often is, as you've described, "Ukraine is a corrupt country though." My answer to that is usually (without patience), "First of all, which country doesn't have corruption? Second, guess which country heavily influenced the Ukrainian government for decades? Hint: it's the one that's currently committing genocide in Ukraine. And thirdly, can you name another country that's simultaneously fighting for their survival and weeding out corruption?"

The third thing I hear is another blood-boiler: "Aren't there like a lot of nazis in Ukraine?" To this one I straight out answer "I see the russian propaganda worked on you." and "Do you think I, a Jew, would go help a country dominated by nazis? Seriously?"

Like I said, unfortunately a lot of this bullshit is said by friends of mine, who willingly put their heads in the sand, because "the war doesn't concern us". They're not against Ukraine per say, but they don't care enough to question propaganda. So while I am seeing red and feeling my blood boiling whenever I hear this from them, I try to stay calm and just explain the actual facts. ...Usually I end up shaking and tearing up anyway, out of frustration and disappointment.

Honestly, I don't know what's worse: Having significantly reduced the time spent with my long-time friends? Or having them say this bullshit when I do see them, when they very well know what I went through there? Or them not wanting to talk about Ukraine at all because it's "scary to think about" and instead talk about the latest episode of whatever reality show?

If a stranger says any of this bullshit though, I have no reason to hold back.

And god forbid anyone, family, friends, or strangers say anything negative about Zelenskyy. I've said it before, I'll say it now, and I'll say it again: I will take a thousand bullets for that man. Do not dare criticize him in front of me (unless you're Ukrainian and you're talking about his pre-war presidency because I can't speak for that (and I'll still defend him)).

To be honest I'm still very surprised when anyone likes my stories at all ToT I feel that as they are now they're pretty accurately rated, my most popular is honestly my best. I guess my answer is "the one i haven't posted on ao3 yet," but its also entirely reasonable that nobody is reading random text files off my site lol

I am currently writing an x-files fic that i've been describing as "SVU, as in special vampires unit" if that counts? i haven't posted any of this either, which might become a theme in these answers now that i think about it. if this doesn't count, i've been rotating a sarah connor chronicles / star trek voyager crossover in my head for the past few weeks that i might one day do something with :)

I like modern AUs when they're done right, but more specific ones like coffee shop / high school i usually don't really fw, although i've read some pretty good ones to be fair. i think i could enjoy any AU i read if it was done well, but i don't really write any unless it's in another canon, existing universe, not because i dislike it or anything, just not really my thing

🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…

like, the vast majority of things i watch are mediocre at best, so there are never really big terrible parts so much as there are overall situations i don't like, which makes it harder to fix. normally i just write as if they didn't exist, because i do Not have the patience or dedication for writing long form fiction

lowkey i don't know if i really have any major headcanons? i am pretty flexible and things that aren't cemented in canon will change from fic to fic depending on the vibe of the situation, although i am a really big fan of the 'drusilla being a potential' idea, and i guess also the idea of whiskey & the other dolls that remained in the dollhouse at the end of the epitaphs having been knocked out, not killed, but i think that's less of a headcanon and more of me being a weenie who doesn't want her fav killed off

To start off, thank you for letting me rant about them >:) If you have any more questions after you read this, feel free to ask them!!!

Characters:

There’s four main characters (which I guess makes this fantasy with the moth people). There’s Lemon (usually a moth, was originally a human), Lime (Lemon’s partner/girlfriend, the moth person who turned her into a moth), Caramel Jr (Lemon and Lime’s child), and Caramel Sr (a self centered asshole who is Caramel Jr’s dad). I’ll put pictures of the four at the very bottom of this.

I’ll answer this in order of events I guess :)

How did Lemon and Lime meet?

Lemon and Lime met at a summer camp. Lime lived in a forest and got way too close to the “forbidden area” (which is the humans cabin and whatnot). She got spotted by what was then Eleanore (Lemon) and they quickly became friends :). Eleanore managed to sneak Lime back into her city, where she lived, before realizing that that was not the best idea and they went back to the forest. Lime showed Eleanore around her little forest town where the other moth people were like “wtf why’d you bring a human” (Moth people hate humans because of a incident where one of them got killed). Lime did not care and happily lived with Eleanore until they started dating :).

How did Lemon turn into a moth?

Basically if a person gets bit by a moth person they turn into one (it’s been compared to a Spider-Man spider logic but without the superpower). Lime bit Eleanore so that she would fit it more and eventually the moth people accepted her.

How’d L+L get Caramel (jr)?

After becoming a moth person, Lemon worked as a model. Three-ish years passed before one day she noticed a baby moth (Caramel Jr) toddling around unsupervised during a photo shoot. Lemon picked her up and immediately tried to find its parent(s). She eventually found out that Caramel Sr. was her dad (via accident) and he was like “you can have it, I don’t want it”. So Lemon took her in :).

Random extra details:

☆ Lemon is a Rosy-maple moth, Lime is a Luna moth, Caramel Jr. is a Rosma moth, and Caramel sr. Is a Polyphemus moth

☆ On the rare occasion where people get turned into moths, the moth people make them a ceremony and give them a “moth name”. This is where Eleanore got the name “Lemon” from.

☆All moth people are allergic to honey (unless they are human to moth)

☆ Moth people squeak when they’re little (like baby babbles but they sound like dog toys)

☆ Out of nowhere L+L started calling Caramel Jr “Melly/Mel” to sort of distinguish her from Caramel Sr

☆ After people are bitten (by a moth person), it can take from 5-12 years for them to go back to being normal. This however, can be easily reversed via a potion (By the potion moth). There’s a side-effect to this where the people loose they’re memory of the moth world (Lemon decided to wait it out so that she wouldn’t loose her memory)

I love writing dyke Maria. It's my life blood, it's my meaning on this earth. I mean, she oozes lesbian energy who is writing anything BUT dyke Maria?

Tattooed Maria is an interesting concept to me! The mental image of Maria with sleeves is beautiful and I need art of that right now, but if we're speaking do I actually think she'd have any in the regular universe? I don't think she'd have visible ones. In my head, she either has none, or she has two. Very specifically: one she got impulsively as a teenager, definitelly not legal, sick of being compared to her mother all of the time, sick of seeing her in her own face, sick of absolutely everything, and goes off and gets something to make her body her own, something that she can go look, this makes me me. And then two, once she's left her father and her home town, in the marines, feeling guilty over the first and missing the mother she never got to know, hating how her father made her hate her too, and she gets something to honour her instead. I'm not sure what either of these tattoos would be though haha, a bird for her mother, maybe? Something very sentimental, ofc, but we don't know much about her mother.

Still, tattooed Maria, very much yes. Tattoos are always cool. Especially on lesbians. If she did have sleeves, I think she'd have pretty blackwork florals

I've never actually heard of the term chicano until this ask! So I don't feel like I can speak much on that topic, but I do enjoy when people write latina Maria! I believe it is somewhat canon in the comics, and there's definitely a TV show where she's obviously not white, but honestly the comics LOVE to leave us guessing. Either way, I like seeing people write about her connecting to her mother's side.

Don't even get me STARTED on mechanic Maria. It might actually be one of my favourite HC/AUs of all time. If I could think of a good dynamic for them, I would write a mechanic blackhill AU. Honestly, I think it would make a lot of sense for her character to just... have her be a mechanic during her time in the marines. Not necessarily full time or anything, but I think she'd be good at it, and I like to imagine her with a little summer job when she's in highschool helping out at the garage on the corner. I wrote the Clint's farm fic 50/50 because I wanted to write about blackhill pining in the Barton's house and because I wanted to write about greased up Maria.

Now I'm imagining an AU where SHIELD is a garage and Maria is the butch walking around in an oil stained grey tank who instantly puts all the cocksure men in their place when they try to question her ability to fix their truck. Her and Nat getting competetive about fixing cars... Maria's a truck specialist, Nat's the motorcycle guy. Do I.... Do I write a small town mechanic AU about Nat being desperate for a new job and Clint convincing Maria to let her join? I might make a post about this later.

I wish I could put into words how much I love mechanic Maria. Everything about it is so good. I love making her butch, if you couldn't tell by BSaSB. I feel she's a lot more butch in the comics than the movies but man I just can't help myself. Butch Maria 4 life. Butch Nat is good too. Butch 4 butch. Butch 4 femme. I don't care just let me hit Maria with the butch ray and then put her under a car.

The Post-Split Rant, part 3

a.k.a.: Grown Woman really should have finished this like 3 weeks ago give me a break

BFB Post-Split is my least favorite season, so now I’m gonna wrap up my whinging about it and move on with my life. These are my opinions, you’re free to disagree, bluh bluh bluh let’s just get on with it already.

BFB 28

Okay, I said I would talk about the eliminated contestants here, but I remember them doing more in this episode than they actually did for some reason. I guess I’ll get to them in BFB 29 I suppose.

Anyway the Announcer is back! Announcer’s actually my favorite host out of all the seasons (sorry Four), so when I watched this the first time I remember being really stoked to see him again. And I am glad to say they did him very nicely! He still has his slightly snarky demeanor (in spite of his monotone TTS voice), and is overall used in a very interesting way here. I’ll get more into it later, but it is very clear they didn’t just bring him back for nostalgia points, which I appreciate.

For an “all-in-one” challenge, this episode did it a lot better than BFDI 23, dare I say. Instead of spending a bit too long on the first few challenges and speeding by the rest, they spend time just on the challenges that they can get good bits out of and briskly walk past the others. I feel this approach works a lot better than BFDI 23.

Honestly, pretty nice episode. No real issues here. Not as good as BFB 20 or 26 I’d say, but a good deal better than BFB 22. Moving on.

BFB 29

They said it was impossible. They said it couldn’t be done. Post-Split actually has a second good Taco and Blocky interaction. They’re having an actual conversation! With witty banter and such!What is this wizardry? Why couldn’t we have more like this?

Not related to anything else really but I have to get this out. I find the over abundance of nicknames in Post-Split to be kind of grating at times but NOTHING grinds my gears as much as the stupid “blank”-ster nicknames. “Tacster” “Blockster” “Teadster” SHUT UUUUUUUPPPPPP. They’re just fine in isolation but they use them SO FREQUENTLY I HATE IT. Gelatin uses these the most and I honestly think it’s lessened my opinion of him to a non-negligible degree. Leafster is the only one that gets a past the rest suck so much shit.

Ok sub-rant over. Back on topic.

The whole, well not really backstory… interstory(?) they give Announcer here is very neat, I like it. Really adds a lot of depth to his character. Whoa, Post-Split just had compelling character development. I think I need to sit down. I guess I’ll also add here that it’s nice Taco has something to do other than whinge at Blocky. I mean, there’s a handful of other characters just kinda sitting around that they could also have investigating the Announcer, but I feel Taco fits this role the best (out of the characters available to do so).

The quality-downgrading bit near the end is also fun too- okay enough beating around the bush. I’ll talk about it here because I already have enough to say about BFB 30 on its own; they pretty obviously set Flower up to win. Having her be repeatedly ignored and tortured for those sympathy points, and then having her be the one to save the show to cap it all off.

I voted for Flower to win, and even if they didn’t set her up like this I still would have. She’s one of the few characters in all of BFDI that actually has a serious degree of character-growth throughout the series, from being the prototypical “mean for the sake of it” character in season 1 to having genuine compassion for those she cares about by the end of BFB. Gelatin doesn’t have any of this, and if I can be candid, I have no clue how he got so far in the season.

BFB 29 is good overall, but let’s not dwell on it any longer. The real meat and potatoes of this part of the rant is going to deal with the final episode, one I have so many thoughts on I have to split it into multiple segments. Let’s talk about BFB 30.

Smaller Thoughts on BFB 30

The scenes with the fake seasons add a lot to Four’s character, and are a nice lead in to the fact that he’s actually a huge BFDI fan who really just wanted to be in that show he really loves. Judging by his actions in the early days of BFB it’s obvious this was a rather late addition to his character, but his cruelty to the objects could likely be interpreted as just a culture difference between Algebraliens and objects. I could make a whole separate analysis about this, but right now I’ll just leave it that these aspects of Four’s character are rather interesting.

This is going to be really nitpicky, but I have no clue why Bubble would want Gelatin to win. He’s been nothing but horrible to her the entirety of Post-Split. Maybe you could say the same for Flower’s behavior towards her both here and in season 1, but in that case have her indecisive over her vote, not overly enthusiastic. This choice makes no sense. (Can you tell that Bubble is one of those characters I care way too much over how they’re written?)

Gotta say, very nice how they have Firey reflecting on his actions without outside prompting here, good sign of character development. Now if only they could have had him say something to this effect eight episodes ago… sigh…

From here the episode splits into two plots that it jumps between repeatedly. Going through every scene in the order they happen would start to get confusing, so I’ve given them their own sections. Gonna be honest, not really a fan of how either of these went. Let’s start with the better of the two.

Flower and the Battle for the BFDI

So, Flower and the Announcer start fighting over who should get the BFDI, and Purple Face comes out of nowhere to steal it for himself. They get in the bus, a bunch of other people give some silly reasons why they should have the BFDI, and then the bus is dangling off a cliff. Everyone hops out except those still fighting over the BFDI: Flower, the Announcer, and Purple Face.

Purple Face does not need to be here.

Flower wants the BFDI because she won, it’s her rightful prize, very valid. Announcer wants the BFDI because it’s his life’s work and, as he reveals here, the only remaining copy of that work, very valid.

Purple Face wants the BFDI just because he thinks he deserves it. His reason for wanting it is just as stupid as all the reasons the other characters (who aren’t Flower or the Announcer) gave for wanting it, and those were all treated as jokes. Hell, Firey (and by extension Leafy) DEFINITELY had a better reason for wanting the damn thing.

Why are we supposed to be taking this seriously? Purple Face has been nothing but a joke character the entire season, and now they suddenly want people to feel bad for him. So much of this scene is dedicated to him over Flower and the Announcer, the two this scene should have been focused on.

Time to get to the much weaker of the two plots.

Gelatin Helps Four Find Out His Value

Okay, I’m about to be way too overly negative, so let’s have something positive for a breather. “Choo Choo! Think again, Balloon Buddy!” is one of the best jokes in the entire series. I will not elaborate.

So, Four starts to run away, and all the characters who didn’t go after Purple Face (except Profily) chase after him. After a bit, they all end up on the sun, and a character gives a speech about how they’re all mad at Four, how he’s hurt them and been mean to them throughout the entire season, and he still expects them to all stick around for him?

Pretty nice speech, I wonder which character gives it?

Maybe Bubble? She’s constantly going under ire and has had to take a lot of shit this season.

Or maybe Flower! Maybe she could reflect on when she was a bad person, and how she turned around to better herself, and try to impart the things she learned onto Four.

Perhaps X! They’re Four’s best friend, and have certainly been hurt by him throughout this season. Maybe he could show Four sympathy for the objects? This is probably the best option, because of how close these characters are.

But no, none of these characters make this speech.

Motherfucking Gelatin.

MOTHERFUCKING. FORK-FLINGING. PEOPLE-PUSHING. BOMBY-EXPLODING. GELATIN.

Gelatin is the last character who should be giving a speech about how being mean to people is bad. HE IS A GODDAMN MENACE! HAVING HIM SAY THIS MAKES HIM INTO A GIANT HYPOCRITE!

And then they play a montage on the BFB to show how fun this season actually was, and convince Four that they all really do like him. Am I the only one that thinks Four got off a little scot-free for the whole murdering and tormenting his contestants thing?

Whatever, let’s take a look at the supposedly “fun” moments of BFB that they want to give Four credit for:

Flower getting excited for like a second that she didn’t get eliminated, before running off in embarrassment because she tried to celebrate with the contestant who actually did get eliminated

A scene mere moments before Four despawns X again

A bunch of people playing with the popper toys, something that had no involvement from Four and likely would have happened regardless of his presence

A scene mere moments before Leafy painfully burns to death

Gelatin’s fork stack, which definitely didn’t involve Four because it happened before they showed up

The boring-ass train ride from BFB 21

Four’s almost-four-way-tie song, which I guess gets a pass

Aside from the last one maybe, how is ANY of this meant so show how much fun the cast has had with Four? And to top it all off the most unfitting piano music plays over the whole thing. Absolute dumpster fire of a montage.

Ending Thoughts on BFB 30

Everyone gets together to have a party and all is well in the world. Except for those 50000 dead Davids in Davidland. A shame, really. (that was a joke)

Wow, this best friends line sure aged well, didn’t it, Teardrop? (Actually thinking about it now they probably planned for Teardrop to join TPOT by this point. So why include this line when they already knew one of his best friends ditched him?)

This line is really corny. But also kinda charming? Weird. I guess all she really wanted in the end was friends, and now she has them! Good for her.

And you know, if I ignore how much I dislike how Post-Split reconciled Firey and Leafy, this scene is really cute. Very nice note to end on.

For the episode, that is. We still have stuff to talk about here.

So, about BFB 30 as a whole. Do I think it’s a good BFDI episode? Yeah, I guess. I have my problems with it (as I have more than made clear), but it still has a lot of laughs, and things conclude in a halfway decent way. So yeah, it’s a good episode.

But is it a good finale? I don’t think so. This is supposed to be BFB’s last hurrah, its final impact on the viewers. It should be putting its best foot forward here, but it drops the ball on so many things I can’t in good conscience say it was a satisfying conclusion to the season.

I just hope TPOT handles its finale a lot better.

Post-Split as a Whole

Welp, that certainly was a ride. Time for some closing thoughts.

While it might seem like I dislike characters like Gelatin from what I’ve said in this rant, I really don’t. I like these characters in the other seasons they’re in! Post-Split just kinda doesn’t do all that great with them.

Additionally, I don’t hate Post-Split either. I don’t love it, though. It’s just okay. It has some high highs, and some pretty deep lows. It has a lot of little things (and some major ones) that all together keep me from loving it like I do all the other seasons.

I’ve seen some people say the Split was the nail in the coffin for BFB, that there was no way Post-Split could have lived up to what came before. I don’t share this opinion. Episodes like BFB 20 and 26 (and to a lesser extent, 28 and 29, and to an even lesser extent, 22) show to me that Post-Split could have been something special.

So what happened? Why did Post-Split turn out the way it did?

I don’t know. I’m not here to do any meta-analysis or anything.

I’m just here to rant.

And rant I have.
