Cable up Flys _____________________________ This variation of the fly preferentially targets the upper portion of the pec fibers. Start with the pulleys as knee/thigh height. Grab a handle in each hand and take a small step forward to put the pecs on a stretch. This is your starting position. Maintain a soft bend in your elbows but try to only use your pec muscles during the movement. With palms facing up, begin to contract the pecs and raise the arms to nipple height while bringing the palms close together in front of the chest. Squeeze and pause for a moment at the top before slowly lowering back down. The Dumbbell Front Squat is a great exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps but also requires a lot of core strength as the dumbbells are held in front of the body. Here's how to do them: ----- 1️⃣ With your feet slightly wider than hip width, hold a pair of dumbbells at your sides, then clean them up to shoulder level. 2️⃣You can hold them with a palms facing in grip with one end of the dumbbells resting on your shoulders, or for more challenge, hold them with an underhand grip with your palms facing your body. 3️⃣Regardless of which grip you choose, ensure you keep your core contracted with your elbows up and facing forward. 4️⃣As you lower into the front squat, bend at your hips back, bend your knees, and maintain an upright chest position, flat back, and a strong core. 5️⃣Your knees should point in the same direction as your feet, and your thighs should lower until parallel to the ground or below. 6️⃣Reverse the move by pressing your feet through the floor and extending your hips and knees to stand back up. 7️⃣Repeat. #liveleantv #livelean #frontsquat #frontsquats #dumbbellfrontsquat #exercisedemo #workouttips #exercisetips #quads #quadriceps #quadzilla #quadsonfire #squat #squats #fitfam (at San Diego, California)

Foam roller body saw _______________________________ This is a progression to the low plank and the physio ball body saw. Begin in a low plank position except with a foam roller under your shins. Your weight will be supported on the foam roller instead of toes touching the ground. Keep your glutes and core engaged to brace the spine and resist deviation while you extend the arms and roll the shin up your legs. This longer lever plank is much more challenging so only move as far as you can control without losing form. Once you reach your end range of control, pause a brief moment while creating full body tension/stability. Then, with control, pull your body forward with your shoulders and lats to return to the starting position. Live Lean Nation, on today’s @liveleantv daily exercise demonstration, I’m showing you how to do a mid cable fly. • 1️⃣At a cable machine, set both pulleys to a middle position approximately at chest level. 2️⃣Grab both handles with your hands and step out from the cable machine to ensure you can lift through the full range of motion. The further you step away from the cable machine, the more challenge it will be to remain stable. 3️⃣With your arms extended to the side, sweep your extended arms in front of your like you’re about to give another person a hug. 4️⃣As your hands come close at chest level, pause for a moment to really accentuate the squeeze. 5️⃣Then under control, slowly reverse the movement back to the starting position with your arms parallel to the ground. 6️⃣Repeat.
