INCREDIBLE showstopping stupendous never been done before etc. G-D. i Just finished the finale so i’m still chewing on this one before i can swallow but. Man. 

cinderella and snow white are specifically the most characters ever to me. not to crib what brennan said in the they might be giants AP but the way that they’ve lived these lives over and over again without learning about the authors, without knowing that there was anything more to the world…i would want everything to end too. i liked the contrast of their cynicism and nihilism against the party’s naïveté; i’m also a sucker for naïveté as not inherently negative, that the party were able to save the neverafter because they could hope for and create a world that the princesses were too beaten down to imagine, and that the princesses are part of that world…yeah. Yeah.

idk i understand why the players were against them/their aims and i think a version of the campaign where they weren’t would’ve been unequivocally worse (d20 does haunting and harrowing and sad so well but outright bleak wouldn’t work as an end tone to me) but their ethical dilemma is so compelling. because theirs is the solution that would end their suffering! properly and permanently! after an unfathomable eternity of suffering! and i expected an epilogue and didn’t mind what went on there, but there’s also a grimness in the happy ending, because it’s not solving everything forever, and even if they can write their own stories, they’re still in their stories, inescapably. and the authors are there, always.

(but that’s the only ending that i think would’ve worked and felt satisfying for me, because the fairy tales erasing themselves might be metal, but i loved loved loved the theme of the perseverance of these stories—maybe my favorite line in the season is baba yaga saying that the authors are powerful but she’s watched many of them die—and i love the thought of this cyclicality lurking at the ending. that the sun is out on this morning but night’s not gone.)

also again i must say cinderella is one of the coolest characters in the world. her glass armor! g-d. she is everything.

it's kinda fascinating to me how welt has been "at the end of his life" for like. several decades by now. he goes on and on about how old and weary he is and how "his job is done" and his story is over but- oh wait i just realized i can phrase this in a very funny way- he's kind of sorta immortal now because he got the herrscher core back, so he's really just stuck in the epilogue for all eternity

Seen a few people too many discuss the concept of Dragodile Baby 2 and my hot take is that there's no way in hell Crocodile would ever detransition just to go through nine months of horrible dysphoria again, let alone go through pregnancy ever again (or allow Ivankov to even touch him, what if they died and weren't able to trans Croc's gender again afterwards? Hell naw, ain't worth the risk)

But this leaves an opportunity for a Funnier Option:
