Arguing with Simon has to be a unique type of annoyance.

I imagine he’s not much for yelling, unless he perceives there to be a grave danger to your or his safety in some way. But he’s definitely standing there with his face kind of balled up, like he’s annoyed by the whole thing, unfortunately that’s just his face. He has a smart mouth and definitely says things that irk you. Definitely hits you with the whole “no need to yell” line or “don’t know why you’re so mad”. Things that immediately turn your bitch meter up to one hundred.

Next problem is that once the argument starts, he doesn’t want to back down until there is a concrete solution. Doesn’t want you to wander off or shut a door on him. It makes him unbalanced when you’re pissed at him. So it makes him poke and prod until there is something tangible for him to do. A task, a gift, or words for him to say to make you forgive him. Because of that, he’s often constantly trying to solve the problem instead of really understanding why it was there in the first place.

He gets better at it eventually. Realizes when he’s pushing too hard. Often making an excuse for a smoke break so he can step out and clear his head instead of crowding you. It’s usually better once there’s been some space and you both can start from a new angle.

Everytime I see those scenes of Merlin calling Arthur fat and intending it as an insult I just get so upset. I know the show doesn't go super in depth into Merlins background as a peasant but like cmon he knows nothing of court rules and etiquette (episode 2 briefly mentions how he has to learn duelling etiquette which he still completely fucks up but still).

I think the show could've had a lot of fun exploring misunderstandings that arise as a result of their social status and if you're asking what plot relevance that has it can be Arthur learning to overcome years of Uthers horrible brainwashing.

Imagine if you will Merlin goes to compliment Arthur because he's feeling really down because Uther had told him to get close to a visiting princess and it DID NOT go well and Arthur was basically insulted appearance wise. So Merlin, being Merlin, goes to cheer him up by pointing out all the ways in which he looks good which results in him calling Arthur fat.

Arthur is understandably insulted, he's a prince and more than that a knight, he shouldn't be big by societies standards. So he's just standing there gaping at Merlin while Merlin has this big dumb content smile on his face cause he thinks he's just complimented Arthur (remember as a Peasant having meat on your bones was seen as attractive cause it meant you could actually eat).

Consider this AU idea: The influence of Xin Mo blackens Bingge further and further till Bingge remains a husk of who he was. He becomes exceedingly vicious and insane and then when the Bingmei vs Bingge showdown happens, he finally snaps.

Why does this Binghe have a loving Shizun? Why is Bingge, lord of all the realms, owner of an expansive harem not as happy as this Bingmei is?

The thoughts drives him crazy. Xin Mo’s influence and his unstable thoughts cause him to have a qi deviation that takes his life and he resurrects in the body of a random twelve year old kid. He is still fending for himself in the streets but this time around, he is also a part of a group of kids who beg to make ends meet.

One of the kids is Shen Jiu.

And this is Bingge’s chance! His Shizun is alive and well and maybe not an immortal master at all but Bingge is confident he can make him to be his loving master.

They spend time together but it’s so painfully obvious to him that Shen Jiu is so infatuated with Qi Ge that he treats everyone around him like dirt

It drives Bingge mad. He is so pissed at him that he leaves him be and nearly marches off alone to live his life and start on his path of destruction again but before he can do that, Shen Jiu gets caught by the Qius in an attempt to save Bingge

Guilt stricken and horrified, Bingge resolves to save Shen Jiu. He travels, trains and works hard and gets Shen Jiu out before Yue Qi does

they go off to find a new master for themselves. Shen Jiu and Bingge get accepted in CQM and when Shen Jiu sees YQY there, he is heartbroken but not as he was in the OG timeline.

They grow closer all the while Bingge, without the influence of Xin Mo, slowly turns into the fragile glass hearted maiden he is supposed to be as god intended. He cooks for Shen Jiu everyday, he treats him with care. At some point he realizes that this man and the man he encountered in the other world can’t possibly be the same but he likes Shen Jiu so much better

He likes his fiery personality, his unbroken resolve and determination to always be the best. He likes that Shen Jiu is not above being petty and vindictive. What he likes the most that beyond his prickly exterior, Shen Jiu cares so deeply. He likes it all so much.

At some point he realises he is happier than he ever was.

And maybe he never does get that loving Shizun but it’s fine. He doesn’t mind being Shen Shixiong’s doting husband anyway

Now imagine his surprise when he meets Luo Binghe.

Imagine his surprise when he is accompanied by another kid called Shen Yuan

Imagine his surprise when he realizes this Shen Yuan is suspiciously like the Shizun he encountered in the other universe.

And imagine he doesn’t give a fuck in the end anyways because the life he built for himself is good
