an ode to a conversation stuck in your throat | s.r.
in which Spencer tries to talk you out of taking a job across the country
margotober masterlist
who? spencer reid x fem!reader category: fluff content warnings: miscommunication (sigh), very cheesy, brief mention of wine, defining the relationship, insecure spencer, easily confused reader, chemist!reader word count: 1.04k a/n: if i could go a week without writing a dwg song fic that would be crazy. also surprise it's chemist!reader again.
"Thanks for stopping so I could change,” you say to Spencer, leading the way into your apartment and locking the door behind you. “I’m sure lab dress code and David Rossi dress code are miles apart,” you continue, hanging your backpack on the wall.
Spencer hums in response, “You’d look great in anything you wear.”
Your face warms at the compliment, “You’re sweet. You can just wait out here, I shouldn’t be more than a couple of minutes,” you gesture to the living room, smiling at him before heading off to your room.
Nervously, you pull off your lab-safe attire and discard all of it into the laundry hamper before putting on the dress you’d chosen for dinner tonight. It’s not overly fancy, but you hope his team will like it. You hope his team will like you.
Looking at yourself in your dresser mirror, you reconsider your choice of shoes, switching from a pair of kitten heels to flats before walking out the door, “Hey, Spence, is Rossi’s patio heated, or should I bring a sweater for when the sun goes down?” You stop in your tracks when you find Spencer, still in the entryway, looking at the color-coded whiteboard calendar you keep by your front door, “What’s up?”
His hands are stuffed in the pockets of his slacks, and he looks upset. What’s worse is you think he might be upset with you. “What’s this dinner you have planned next Friday?”
You feel like a child who’s been caught doing something they shouldn’t be, draping the proposed sweater over the back of a kitchen stool and crossing your arms in front of your stomach. “It’s a work dinner,” you answer nervously.
“With?” Spencer asks, but he’s not pushy about it, there’s something desperate in his tone.
Pursing your lips, you look at the purple writing on the calendar, “The chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Northwestern, and a representative from the college's dean. They’re offering me a job with a private lab and my own team of researchers… so they’re taking me out to dinner.”
Spencer’s face fell, “They’re offering you a job in Chicago?”
“Well, that’s where Northwestern is. Evanston, if you want to get technical about it,” you respond, chewing on the inside of your cheek.
He looks at you dumbfoundedly, “I don’t want to get technical about it. When were you going to tell me that you’re taking a job in Chicago?” It almost seems like he’s afraid.
You raise your eyebrows in curiosity, you’ve been seeing each other for a month, and you’ve never known Spencer to jump to conclusions. “I’m not,” you tell him, keeping your tone void of any accusation, “They’re just taking me to dinner.”
Spencer sighs, “But they’re offering you a job. In a different state. In a different timezone.”
Admittedly, he was beginning to sound a bit ridiculous to you, “Don’t you field offers from colleges all the time? They want you to teach or tell you to become Spencer Reid, PhD, PhD, PhD, PhD, or whatever?”
His eyes follow you as you move to sit down at the kitchen counter, “It never gets as far as dinner.”
“I’m not taking the job,” you tell him simply, shrugging your shoulders demurely.
Spencer falters at that, knitting his brows together as he tries to piece together the answers you’re willingly giving him, “If you’re not taking the job then why are you going to dinner with them?”
Hiding a small smile, you give him the truth, “They pick up the tab. I go to a lot of these and I get good food out of the deal. These people love to schmooze but I’ve never been offered anything that I would be inclined to accept.” This specific job seemed perfect on the surface, but they weren’t willing to let you choose what to research. That was non-negotiable for you.
“I could schmooze you,” he insists, “You don’t need other people to schmooze you.”
You giggle at him, waving him over to you so you can look him in the eyes when you tell him, “I go for free food and good wine. No other reason.” Your smile was gentle, but inside your heart was pounding. He was scared I was going to leave, you think to yourself.
He sighs, “Will you… will you tell me in the future when you get these dinner offers?” His voice is tentative, almost as if he’s afraid you’ll think he’s asking too much of you.
Nodding, you reach out and take one of his hands in yours, “I can, but I didn’t think were at the ‘I’m being courted by another workplace, and I wanted to let you know’ stage yet. That’s kind of a girlfriend thing,” you explain.
Spencer frowns, “Aren’t you?”
Tilting your head to the side, you look at him curiously, “Aren’t I what?”
“My girlfriend,” he clarifies.
Your eyes go wide, “Oh! I didn’t think so, I thought you had to ask yet.” Although you’re far from a relationship expert, you’d had to ask your PhD advisee what to wear before your first date with Spencer.
The panicked look on his face returns, “I’ve been telling people you’re my girlfriend. Should I not have been doing that?”
Shaking your head, you beam up at him, “I don’t mind. I just thought you had to ask about that kind of thing.”
“I don’t know,” he admits, “I’ve never really done this before.”
The two of you sit in an awkward silence for a moment before you decide to speak up again, “So, just so we’re on the same page. I’m not moving to Chicago.”
Spencer frowns again, and you have to hold yourself back from using your thumb to smooth out the crease on his forehead, “Will you?”
Confused, you lean your head back, “Move to Chicago?”
“Be my girlfriend,” he amends quickly.
You nod, “I would love to.”
“And just so we’re on the same page,” he ducks his head down, so close to a kiss that it makes you feel dizzy, “I like to think I’m the only one who can really court you.”
Laughing, you lean forward and peck his lips, “I would be insulted if you didn’t think that.”

Another Storer/Calo musical deep cut:
Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam and the focus of so much of my adolescent thirst whose voice is featured all over The Bear’s soundtrack -
See: Vedder’s rapid-fire, gutteral one-two-three-four-five against one […] torture from you to me of PJ’s "Animal" over the end credits of 1x01 System or propelling the energy in Richie and Syd’s last ditch effort to save Friends and Family in 2x10 The Bear. See: Eddie (and Neil Finn) wailing And though we try to forget it, you will make me call your name, as I shout it to the blue, summer sky in "Throw Your Arms Around Me" over shots of Carmy making Syd's lamb ragu for Cl@ire while Syd undresses at home (this fucking show lmao) (also shout out to Melbourne/Naarm rock group Hunters & Collectors whose song Vedder and Finn covered). See: Eddie's yearning as he croons I've been planning out all that I'd say to you in PJ's "Come Back", as Carmy and Syd have metaphorical sex under a perfectly level table (shout out to @sydcarmyfan for that brilliant meta). See also: Vedder covering The English Beat's "Save It For Later" and singing, Save it for later, don't run away and let me down, you let me down in 3x02 Next while we see a litany of working class and racialised hospitality and food service workers gearing up for another work day in Chicago, just as Carmy is about to commence fucking over his working class and racialised crew at The Bear for the remainder of season 3 (this fucking show, gah) -
that Eddie Vedder, who is more commonly associated with Seattle and the grunge movement that was birthed there, was actually born in Evanston, Illinois: the same suburb of Chicago that its implied the Berzattos lived in (I say implied because its never explicitly stated on the show but we know that 2x06 Fishes was shot in Evanston). I always get a little chill up my spine when I come across connections like this on the show.
The Bear is such a love letter: to the food services industry, to film, to romance itself and almost certainly, to Chicago.
Author's note:
Enjoy this video of Eddie Vedder continuing to be a man after my own heart, talking about visiting his grandmother's old home in Evanston - a home he describes as the Sun that the rest of his family orbited around - which made me tear up because that's exactly how us grandkids felt about our Ammamma's apartment in Canada. Eddie talks about his grandmother having 6 kids and wishing he had bought the apartment to keep it like a time capsule, only to meet the current residents and changing his mind because it was a place full of "love and power and good vibes" that they took and also raised their 6 kids in. And all of this before launching into "Throw Your Arms Around Me" *sigh*
Its no secret that I love The Bear, but what I might love even more than the show itself are all the tangents, winding paths and deep cuts that it takes me to and which pull at my own memories and history. This art is so cathartic for so many reasons. And I doubt I'm the only one on here feeling that way.

well the little reader x gina fic was amazing, wouldn't expect anything else from it. Do you think we could get a little more of them? Pretty please?
Pretty like…
Regina George x fem! reader
Warnings: age regression, fluff
Cozy fall day with Regina 🧡
The usual green leaves have turned into crisp shades of orange and browns, the air's turned chilly, the people were bundled up in thicker layers and comfy outfits. The fall atmosphere always felt like the epitome of comfort to you, and you loved that.
Regina was typically a little grouchy because the weather wasn't particularly good for her back, but doesn't really complain seeing that you were so happy, obviously.
You had no classes today, but Regina did. She had a lecture from nine in the morning to noon while you only woke up at 10:30 so you didn't have to kill a lot of time before Regina came by. Since you were home alone, you were more relaxed because there was no one around to ask you what you were up to.
You were dozing off when you heard the front door open, and some swift steps walking up the stairs.
Because of that, you jolted awake, blinking profusely. Then someone knocked on your bedroom door. "Hey, it's me. Can I come in?"
"Yeah." You answered. The door opens up slowly a second later. "Hi, baby." She grins, "How you doin'?"
You rolled over onto your stomach, face smushed into the mattress. "I take it that means you're sleepy." She laughs, sitting down on your bed.
"No." You answered with a pout. She rubs your back, "C'mon, you can sleep if you want to, baby. That’s okay. Turn around.”
“Uh-uh.” You continued.
“Look at me, baby.” Regina nudged, “I don’t want you to face downwards.”
Slowly, you did as she told you to. “Hey, you.” Regina tickled your stomach, making you giggle. “Can I have a kiss?”
You nodded, puckering your lips as she leaned down to peck your lips.
“Should we get something to eat?” She asks, eyes locked in with yours.
“Yes.” You agreed.
“Should we…go out?”
You nodded excitedly, making her smile. “What do you want?”
“Fries?” You asked.
“Okay, let’s go for some fries.” She helped you up and got you appropriately dressed for the chilly weather outside before you both got in her car. “Stay seated, okay?” She says while buckling you in. “Promise.” You nodded firmly. “Good.” Regina replied then started driving. Eventually, you both wound up in a quiet little diner a little ways away from where you both lived. You don’t remember this place.
“Okay, here we are.” Regina declared while parking in the lot. “Best fries in Evanston. And they have really yummy ice cream.”
“Ooh, I want ice cream toooo.”
“We’ll be getting some, after lunch.”
“Alright.” You sulked.
“Hey, I promise, baby.” She laughs. You do the same while she unbuckles your seatbelt. “Let’s go have some food.”
She took your hand and led you to the diner. Quickly, you were both seated in a both and looking through the menu. Well…she was looking through the menu, you were drawing on the paper laid on the table with crayons. “We’ll be getting fries. But do you want grilled cheese?” She asks, “Or pancakes?”
“Pancakes.” You decided, eyes focused on your drawing. “Sure.” Regina nodded, “With chocolate chips or sprinkles?”
You gasped softly, “I want sprinkles. Please?”
“Absolutely.” She couldn’t help but allow her lips to tug into a little bit of a smile. Then, she ordered the food before joining you in the doodling. “Aw, that’s cute.” She pointed out, “The puppy has a hat.”
You chuckled over your words, “He does.”
After a leisurely lunch, you and Regina split a hot fudge sundae before going on the road again. Unbeknownst to you, Regina rips off the part of the paper with your drawing of the puppy with a hat. She wanted to keep that. “Alright, now…let’s go have a little bit of fun.”
“Where we going?”
“We are going to a corn maze, then going home to make some s’mores.”
“Okay.” You answered, still giggly. Regina has noticed this after taking care of you for a while now, she secretly loves it. The corn maze was really just an excuse for her to keep holding onto your hand and keeping you close. Not that it was going to be scary, but…she was just truly taking advantage of your clinginess when regressed to show you some more physical affection— freely. You dozed off briefly. The weather was very nice and made it extremely easy for you to sleep. When you woke up, Regina was parking the car again. “Hi, sleepyhead. We’re here.” She lets out an exhale in amusement, “C’mon.” You followed her lead, though you’d really like to be curled up in her lap for a nap right about now, but you pushed through and focused on the activity in front of you. “Do you want something to drink?”
You nodded, mumbling in agreement while you rubbed the sleep out of your eyes. Regina bought an apple cider on the way to the corn maze for you both to share. You just clung onto her arm, somewhat leaning onto her while you walked. “Here.” She held the bottle for you, the straw by your lips, “Apple cider.”
You took a sip and your face scrunched up feeling the carbonation of the beverage. Regina was obviously amused and laughed, “You okay?”
Well, that woke you up.
“Yeah.” You confirmed, going in for another sip. Regina could actually get through the maze in a breeze but she took her time with it, and even took some photos of you, then some with you. “Since we’re here…and there’s a bunch of trees around, you wanna jump in some leaves?”
————
Admittedly, she never thought she’d be where she was today, especially in a role like this one, caring for you in this way. But, she loved you dearly. After some weeks, Regina had processed it all, read up more on age regression and even talked to you about it. If anyone was going to keep you safe and make you feel loved it was going to be her. Regina admires the guts it took for you to open up to her, and her heart was happy by how much you trusted her. Now that things were how they were, she wouldn’t want them any other way. You were doing so much better being able to heal and reclaim a part of your childhood that you had lost.
“Reggie!” You gasped, tugging on her arm.
“Yeah, baby?”
“Can we get that?” You pointed to one of the stalls selling a snack.
“Sure.” She said yes instantly, then got you the candy apple you asked for. You shared that with her of course, while sitting under a tree. “Look here, baby.” She taps your thigh to get your attention. You turned your head, but weren't paying much attention to her or what she was doing. She was taking photos of you, actually, But you couldn’t care less and just enjoyed the sweet treat. She laughs heartily, brushing the hair out of your face, “Is it good?”
“Mhm.” You beamed.
“Can I have some?”
You held it out for her to take a bite out of, “Ooh, yum.”
“Thank you.” You told her, still chuckling just slightly. “I really gotta be careful with how much sugar you eat.” She jokes, “Can’t stop giggling, can you, sweetie?”
“No.” You replied, pursing your lips together.
“You’re so cute.” She pinches your cheek, sneaking a bigger bite of the candy apple.
You noticed that though, “Aw.”
“We’re making s’mores tonight.” She reminded you, “But now I’m thinking maybe not.”
You pouted, “Okay.”
“But tomorrow…we could.” Regina continues.
She finished up the candy apple for you then the drive home began. Regina let you play with some games on her phone in the meantime while you quite literally talked her ear off. She stayed very engaged with you in the conversation though— there wasn’t a single moment of silence from the start of the drive until she returned to her place. Regina decided on that herself, but knew you’d appreciate it not having to deal with any suspicion from either of your parents.
Before you knew it, dinner was finished and you were already getting ready for bed. No s’mores tonight, but Regina sure made up for it with the cuddles. “You sleepy yet?”
“No.” You shook your head, playing with her fingers.
“No?” Regina gasped dramatically.
“Uh-uh.”
“Well, I’ll be right here holding you if you do fall asleep. In the meantime…did you have fun today?”
“Yup.” You let go of her hand, she rests it on your torso.
“I’m glad you did.” She caresses your abdomen soothingly, “I had fun too.” She lays down with you upon your request. “Close your eyes, baby. Get some sleep, we have a pretty long day tomorrow.”
“Fine.” You grumbled, snuggling closer to her.
“Fine?” She repeated, you usually didn’t use this word with her when you regress. Regina smirked, “Learnt a new word?”
You simply kept quiet, face smushed against her chest while her fingers combed through your hair and scratched your scalp. “Really, though. I’m gonna need you to sleep soon.” You both had classes the next day, and she wanted you awake early enough so she was sure you were okay to go to class.
“Night night.” You murmured.
“Good night, baby.”
“I luv you.” You mumbled.
“I love you more.” She whispers, pressing a kiss to your head.
The day has been pretty, like a warm summer night with clear skies. Like Christmas lights twinkling all around town every winter, like colourful flowers and birds chirping in the spring…but fall, was Regina’s favourite. The warmth she feels from the colours of the leaves changing, despite the chill in the air setting in. It was her favourite because of you, the day she’s just had with you. It was picture perfect, exactly like she’d imagined. And she couldn’t wait for more of these with you. It was like she’s begun to see the world through a completely different lens and she loves it. Regina loves how she appreciates the little things, she loves how she’s been more present, she loves how she loves. You’ve changed her, and she wasn’t afraid. She was going all in with you and she couldn’t have been more sure of what she wants in her life. You.

please do not stop writing stranger things fanfictions! I have just read brutalist masterpieces instead of doing work and best hour of my day so far. Other than the fact that I want to know what happens after Steve comes to Thanksgiving! I have read the most remarkable thing so many times and I cannot tell you how much I love it.
i've been letting this ask sit in my inbox for so, so long, because i knew the day would come, and now it has:
title: your house is waiting summary: Thanksgiving, 1996, in Evanston, Illinois; or, a sequel and an epilogue to brutalist masterpieces
excerpt: There’s laughter coming from the living room still as Eddie ushers Steve through the open door with a gentle hand at the small of his back. The smell of food cooking, herbs and turkey and potatoes, envelopes them like a warm embrace, along with the faintest hint of cigar smoke that drifts down the hall from Hopper’s study. (That was a battle Robin had yet to win, though she remains determined, he knows.) They are also swiftly taken in by the heat of the house, almost oppressive compared to the world outside, but welcome all the same.
Eddie disengages from Steve briefly to shrug out of his hoodie and hang it on a hook by the door, among a bevy of other coats and shoes below too, so he toes out of his J’s as well. When he turns around, he’s still standing in the place where Eddie had left him, staring around them. His eyes are wide, his fingers are curled inward towards his palms in loose fists, and he follows his gaze to the credenza, and the wall behind it.
A small bowl, overflowing with various colorful sets of keys and debris from a dozen pockets, more, sits in the center of the plain thing, and a set of framed photos stand next to it: one of Hopper and Joyce the day they got married at the Cook County courthouse, Hopper pressing a kiss to Joyce’s temple with tears on his face; and then the second of them joined by their children, Jonathan holding his mother’s bouquet and looking vaguely mortified while El and Will are in hysterics and Hopper and Joyce continue to smile blissfully at each other, oblivious.

Secret surprise arm muscles
Ship: Regina x Janis, Cady x Aaron, Gretchen x Karen
Tw: mention of self harm, little bit of sexual content, Regina simping
Fluff
It was hot in Evanston, the children in school were sitting in class with portable fans. The AC was constantly running, trying to cool down North shore highs class rooms.
“It’s so fucking hot, I think I might die!” Damian exclaimed as he tried to fan himself with his hands. Cady nodded in agreement as she help her cold water bottle against her forehead.
“It’s Friday l, so we could go to my family’s lake house. It’s not far, maybe an hour or two and it’s probably not as hot as it is here.” Gretchen said taking a bite of her food.
Damian’s face lit up at the idea ”Absolutely, yes!” he exclaimed, a little too loud since a few students around them turned their head.
Regina raised an eyebrow having just arrived at the table ”What has gotten you so exited?” she asked. Damian started to explain the situation to her, ignoring the disinterested that was laced in her voice. He knew she asked out of politeness but he decided to ignore it and just continued to tell her their plans, since most of them had agreed to it.
Regina had gotten a lot nicer since the bus crash of course there still were times where she could be quite mean, but most of those times she had a reason so the friend group just ignored it.
”What’s up with her?” Aaron asked, once he had set down his lunch tray, nodding his head to Janis who seemed to be asleep.Aaron had to do senior year again, since he had failed Ap calculus. Janis’s head was resting on her arms which were clad in a long sleeve. ”Asleep, didn’t get much last night, since she had to finish a school project” Damian answered glancing hat his best friend, Regina frowned looking at her girlfriend with concern.
”Yeah, no! I can see that she is asleep. My question was why she is wearing a long sleeve. It’s burning hot outside.”
“Aaron you can’t ask things like that, maybe Janis doesn’t want to wear a shirt or something that hast shirt sleeves” Cady scowled him, giving him a glare.
“That’s not the reason, well it is at some point. She just does not want people to see her arms” Damian spoke. ”Omg, she has self harm scars and is insecure about them,” Aaron gasped, Regina looked like she was going to slap him while Cady and Damian just glared at him.
”Aaron that is not the reason at all!” Their heads whipped around when they heard the new voice join the conversation.
”It’s true, I don’t want people to see my arms but not because I’ve got self harm or scar from self harm in them. I have got a skin disease, that when it’s healed or in the process of healing looks like I have a heroin addiction” Janis spoke, her voice calm.
”To answer your questions, it’s a form of neurodermatitis, that forms little knots under your skin which then fills with fluid and start to hurt or itch”
Aaron just nodded and continued to eat his food.
”Janis we thought about gong to my families lake house over the weekend, do you want to come?” Gretchen spoke up trying to change the subject.
”Sure!” Janis smiled leaning against Regina, who kissed her on the head.
”Babe, are you sure you are fine?” The blonde whispered looking down at her girlfriend
”Yeah, I’m good” the smaller woman smiled up at Regina and kissed her shoulder.
The friends gathered at Gretchen’s house after school to drive to the lake house, the ride it self was fast and relaxed. Everyone keeled to themselves most of the time and while Regina and Janis as well as Gretchen and Karen were in their own little worlds the rest decided on what to cook for dinner, in the end the only thing they could decide on was pasta with pesto.
———————————————————
”Jay?” Regina asked from her position on the bed. “What’s up?” the brunette spoke as she stepped out of the bathroom, dressed in an old t-shirt from Damian and a pair of shorts.
“Can I see your arms? It’s fine if you don’t feel comfortable showing me them” Regina spoke softly not wanting to cross any lines. There were still some parts of their relationship where Regina, and Janis as well, were careful not to over step any boundaries. They had only been in a relationship for about 3 month. Janis smiled softly and made her way over the bed.
“Of course just be careful with touching them,” she spoke while sitting next to her girlfriend, careful not to sit on her legs by accident. Janis rolled up the sleeves showing Regina her arms.
“Does it hurt a lot, or is it just dry skin that sometimes gets infected,” Regina asked eyes going over the area of dry skin on the brunettes arms. There were small scares from what Regina could guess was self harm but nothing too big, like she had seen on other parts of her girlfriend body. “It’s fine most of the time, but there are times where its more dry that usually and it gets infected more easily. But that really just happens in winter and I have a cream that helps with it”
Janis’s voice was soft, there was no hint of insecurity or anything else in it.
“Is there anything that I can do to help it or is it just something that you have to wait out?” Reginas was trying not to make her girlfriend uncomfortable but also wanting to know how she could help her.
“Not much I’d say. It’s the best if you don’t gift me skincare, because most of the time im allergic to it and it all could just get worse but besides that nothing really.”
Regina just nodded trying not to show that a part of her was worried that she could make Janis’s neurodermatitis worse or asked out more than usual.
“No, you can not make it worse by doing anything, stop worrying. You are going to get wrinkles in that beautiful face of yours,” Janis said while kissing her girlfriend’s cheek hand smoothing out the wrinkles that had formed due to being in thought. Regina smiled had kissed Janis on the lips “I’m not worrying you are. I would never worry about someone like you,” Regina said a hint of irony in her voice. Janis gasped, “ how could you say that?! I think you need to get punished for saying something like that to your own girlfriend, who had caught you carrying and simping over her several times.”
“Yeah, are you going to punish me?”
Janis pushed her finger in the side of the blondes rips making her shriek.
“You fucker, come here!”
Regina grappled on to the brunettes waist and allied her down on the bed, sitting on top of her, as she began to tickle her. Janis who had been caught in sock from the quick movement startet to laugh and kick trying to get her girlfriend off of her.
Which was not as easy, since Regina was good one and a half or two heads taller than her.
“Stop you are pushing my boob,” was the only thing Janis was able to get put in between laugher.
After a while of egging and kicking from Janis the blond decided to let her go and just lay down on her girlfriend chest.
“I think like you more than most people I know,” Regina whispered agains Janis’s chest, who was breathing heavily. The statement was followed with a quiet `I love you’ and a kiss to the collarbone.
Regina could feel the smaller woman smile against her hairs as she kissed it and whisper “I love you”
———————————————
The next day the friend group decided to go down to the lake, Gretchen said she know a cute spot not far from the house - they ended up doing an hour long hike, but in the end they had to admit it was worth it.
While most of the girls- Regina and Gretchen-as well as Damian decided to stay out of the water and tan - “Janis, honey, I gotta keep the tan up” Damian joked and but on the rest of the sunscreen- Aaron, Karen and Janis decided to try the water. Karen came out a few minutes later because it was too cold for her, while Janis and Aaron decided to water fight. Around lunch time the two decided to come out and eat.
The conversations they had were flowing uncomfortable, no one made any remarks or stared at Janis is arms or made comments about Regina scars or in-general made any remarks about anyone’s body.
Regina was mostly listening not in the mood to talk, or maybe she was too busy staring at Janis’s, who had decided to wear a simple dark green bikini top with swimming shorts. Regina wasn’t starring at her boobs or abs- which she had never seemed to notice before- no the blonde could not tear her eyes away from her girlfriend upper arms. Which flexed every time the brunette shifted changing her sitting position or when Janis reached out to grasp another sandwich and Regina caught a look on her shoulder, which was just as muscular as her arms.
If you had asked the tall blond what was going through her mind in that moment she would have given you a glare and walked away.
“Regina you are starring,” Damian had leaned over to whisper in her ear, to his surprise she lushed and moved her eyes away from her girlfriend’s arms top her face. Just to see that Janis was looking at her smiling with a mouth full of some kind of sandwich they had made before leaving, there were soft freckles on her face and she was just had that glow on her, that made Regina fall even more.
“Jan, when did you become so muscular?” Damians voice interrupted their conversation and Regina just glared at him, if looks could kill Damian would be six feed under. Of course Damian already knew the answer he just wanted to annoy Regina.
“Always been, I just don’t wear things tight enough to see,” she answered taking another bite out of her food. The other nodded in confusion not really knowing where Damians question came from.
The group of friends made their way back to the house in the late afternoon exhausted from swimming and everything that had happened that day.
They all decided for a nap bevor going out for dinner or cooking together.
————————————————
“Damians question confuse me earlier, i like came out of o where and I thought he knew that I did sport on a semi regular basis,” Janis stated as she crawled in to bet wearing nothing but the lose fit tank top and her underwear
A blush creeped up Regina’s neck as she thought for an answer, not trying to give herself away.
“Pretty weird right, but what kind of sport do you do? You never really told me about it”
“Gymnastics, I nerved really stopped doing it. It just is something that does not come up often in conversation and so I did not think about bringing it up.”
Regina nodded eyes lingering on the brunettes triceps imagining what it would feel like biting or gripping them as her girlfriend’s finger put her over the edge making her scream and cry for more. Janis smirked knowing exactly what was o the blondes mind, they did not have sex with each other yet, there were several steamy make out sessions that could have led to more but every time that happened they were interrupted by someone or something.
“But do you really not know why Damian asked?” Janis teased moving her arms behind her head flexing them in the process.
Once again creeped blush up Regina’s neck making her face go deep red.
“Oh, you absolutely know why he asked stop teasing”
“Babe I very much don’t, that’s why I’m asking,” Janis camel over to Regina sitting atop of her legs flexing the muscles in her thighs and arms as she leaned forward.
“Fuck me, please! I don’t care that our friend are in the room next to us. I need you so badly it’s not even funny anymore.”
“Desperate are we, ‘Gina you know who much I want to, but you already her how Damian teased you about your starring today. Do you want that about hearing you screaming my name?” Janis moved to kiss the blondes neck, she knew the answer and she hated, but she knew that she would be fucking her girlfriend the moment they got home the next day and she did not care who hear.
“No, I just need you so bad,” Regina almost whined trying to get some friction by moving her hips against Janis’s.
“Tomorrow baby i promise. Let’s just take nap now, cause I actually am really tired.”
“You can not leave me all hot and bothered now, Janis do you hear what I’m saying?!”
“Yes I am but we both know you can’t take the fact that the other are going to knew that you are a bottom, so just wait till tomorrow, okay?” Janis kissed her lips and moved to lay her head on Reina’s chest.
The blonde huffed but wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s waist and kissed her head.
Let’s just say the wait definitely was worth it and not just for Regina.
That’s it, I did not spell check so don’t mind the mistakes
Feed back always welcomed

Every year, in fairness to those who have a difficult time enjoying the holidays as much as I do, I have an Annual Christmas Cry. All is not perfect! This usually happens early in December as I am preparing the condo with my holiday decorations. I cry for those who have died and whom I miss. I cry especially for my husband Gregory who died eight years ago due to the complications of Dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease. We celebrated over 41 Christmases together, so you can imagine how hard his death has been! But by now besides celebrating a little with others, I enjoy the solitude of the holiday and the fond memories we shared. I cry for other family members and friends who, over the years, have played important roles in my life and are now gone. I cry for missed opportunities with family and friends. I cry for the changes in myself that at times create new obstacles in my day to day life (read this as aging).
On Christmas Eve and Day and for New Year’s Eve and Day, I prefer a quiet, solitude of experience, home alone. I spend the time with my memories of Christmas Past, which has become my Christmas Present, especially since my husband, Gregory RIP, is no longer physically present to spend them with me. I enjoy being with his Spirit, surrounded by the decorations and foods we used to eat when he was still here. When he first died, I did find this very difficult but by now I am able to carry the grief on one shoulder along with carrying the joy on the other. Just because he is gone is no reason for me to allow myself to wallow in depression, neglect the wonderful times and memories we had, and not allow me to enjoy myself and the holidays today.
Adding to my joy, I am not sure when the “Santa Sightings” began but they have continued for a number of years. For some reason family, friends, and strangers on the street think I look a lot like Santa Claus. I am honored by this identification of me by others. It may have to do with the fact that I let my silver/white beard and hair grow long beginning October, running through the beginning of January.
I will be walking down the street and young children see me, tug at their parent’s coat, and ask, “Did you see that man. I think he is Santa.” Living in a college town (Northwestern University in Evanston, Il), I have had young women shout at me across the parking lot, “Santa, we love you!” Just yesterday, walking down the street, an older couple announced to no-one in particular both at the same time as they passed me, “Hey Santa, we’ve been good!” A few times I donned a Santa outfit and did some appearances at charitable events. Other times, in my street clothing, people will ask after acknowledging that I look like him, “Do you ever play Santa?” I respond, “What do you mean play?” I am greatly honored that people give me the opportunity of carrying Santa Claus’s love, to those around me, friends or strangers.
An absolutely lovely read.

do you have hcs about cady being autistic or something?
Cady Heron invented autism actually. Shoutout to my friend @ohbrightnewday who helped with pretty much all of these, they are the real Cady expert
Gets overstimulated extremely easily in Evanston because there's so much going on compared to Africa so she has meltdowns and goes nonverbal more often. There's just so many people and sounds and the lights are so bright and she doesn't have quiet places she can just escape to and sit and look at the stars
She never had to learn how to mask in Africa and didn't start doing it until she became a plastic
Hates the textures of the clothing she wears while pretending to be plastic and is so uncomfortable all the time
Overwhelmed with all the social aspects she has to learn and understand and she constantly feels like she's missing something
Struggles a lot with food in the US because it's so different from Kenya and the textures are so strange and processed that it makes her feel sick. Has a very short list of safe foods
Bounces, spins in circles, flaps her hands to stim
Doesn't like sitting in chairs and prefers the floor, but when she is in a chair is constantly rocking back and forth
Sits in calculus and nearly falls out of her chair with how excited she is about math
Ms Norbury helps Cady a lot with accommodations and lets her take movement breaks where she just goes and walks around the hallway and stims
Loves pressure, has so many weighted blankets and stuffed animals and when she has a bad day she just lays all of them on her chest and stays there

Matt Casey- Fight For Us Pt2
After a few weeks, Herrmann is back on the job which is wonderful because we've just arrived at a multi car accident. One car is upside down on the bridge
"Anyone get ejected?" Herrmann asks running over while Leslie and I get a gurney rolling over to the car while all of friends trying to stop the car from tipping
"Is he alright? My son? He's not saying anythingl Leslie checks his pulse and sighs in relief
"Yeah he's alive sir"
"Oh thank god"
"Where going to need a second ambo" I say into the radio on my shoulder
"Two more. Driver of the first car over there" Matt says to me. I nod my head and correct myself
"We're going to have to go through the windshield" Severide groans after trying to pry the door open "get me a pick head!" I notice the young man waking up
"What happened?"
"Your going to be ok buddy" Matt says to the lad "hockey fan huh?"
"We were headed to Evanston for his tournament. You ok Mikey?"
"Yeah, I think so. What happened?" Severide then starts using the pick head. As soon as Capp and Severide open up the windshield Matt walks off while Severide and the others help to get them both out.
"Its corrupt YN. The drunk driver got away with it because it's Voight's son"
"I know what your saying Matt, but your not a policeman" I sigh placing some food down in front of Ella then walking back into the kitchen
"But it's wrong"
"I know and I agree but Voight? Babe I've heard things about him. You know Gabby who works my off shifts?" Matt gives me a nod "well her brother Antonio works with Voight"
"You think you could get me in contact with him?"
"I'll speak to Gabby, but Matt please be carful with this. We have Ella to think about and I don't what you getting stressed, making yourself ill or even hurt because of this"
"I promise I won't" Matt takes my head in my hands
"It's just we finally got back into a good place..."
"I know I know. I'll be safe. Come here" Matt kisses my forehead and pulls me in for a hug
"Momma can I have apple juice please
"Of course baby" I pull away from Matt and get some juice out of the fridge
"Hey. I love you" Matt says stopping me
"I love you too"
In the following days Antonio speaks to Matt, basically telling him what I told him. They've even had chat with dad about what to do
"Grey Duffy? Niki our payroll clerk walks in "I guess he was in a car accident the other day that you guys responded to?"
"Yeah what about him?" Matt asks next to me with Ella on his lap
"He's outside" I follow Matt now holding Ella's hand as he greets Mr Duffy
"Sir"
"Sorry to barge in on you like this, but my wife made this for you guys" he lifts up a lid off a box
"Cake" Ella gasps making us all chuckle
"We really appreciate what you did. And we know dann well it could have been worse if the car had
tipped over. So thank you"
"How's your son?" I ask picking Ella up in my arms
"Yeah well Mikey's got a tough road ahead of him, but were gonna make it. The other reason
I came here is, I dont know if there's anything you guys do in terms of what you saw or piece together based on what the accident scene
looked like, but the police report came back saying I ran a red light, causing the accident. And that not what happened. And I'm kind of at a loss in terns of how to fight it" Matt gives me a look and I give him one back, but mine filled with worry. I know exactly what he's going to do and while I agree in one way I'm so worried what Voight may do to him because of it.
The front door opens and Matt walks in while I'm tidying up the living room
"Hey where have you been?" I ask Matt who's taking off his shoes
"Had a drink with Hank Voight"
"What?" my eyes widen "why? What did he say?"
"Wanted me to retract my statement, do a cope a favour, basically threatened me"
"And you said?"
"No obviously"
"Matt? Are you inane? What if he comes after you? Or me or Ella?"
"He won't. Your dad knows what's going on. I won't let anything happen to you or Ella but I can't just sit back and let a man go free when he was drunk driving and I knew. He's paralysed YN a 16 year old is paralysed"
"I know Matt!" I yell then take in a breath to calm down "I know. I'm just worried"
"I understand, but what kind of role model would I be for Ella? Knowing what I know. I can't live with myself if I didn't go through with the statement"
"Ok, just be careful, please"
"I will"
"Daddy come read for me!" Ella shouts from upstairs
"Coming" Matt shouts. He kisses my forehead before running up the stairs while I continue to clean up down here.

National Ice Cream Sundae Day
HISTORY OF NATIONAL ICE CREAM SUNDAE DAY
Ice cream sundaes are one of the handfuls of foods that are loved by almost everyone. You might be handling a bowl of delicious right now as you read through this post, but have you ever wondered where this sweet nectar of the gods, a.k.a. sundae came from? How did it get its bizarre and unusual name? Who was the creator of this lovely dessert? We might be able to answer you.
The original ice cream sundae dessert consisted of vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry-flavored sauce, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry. They were originally served in small glass tulip-shaped vases. This glass then got the name, “sundae glass.” Over the years sundaes took many forms and shapes. They have become one of the most popular desserts in America.
Interestingly, there are several versions of the story of who is the original creator of the sundae. The key players in the list include Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Ithaca, New York, Evanston, Illinois, and Plainfield, Illinois. But according to most people, it was the Two Rivers in Wisconsin that was the original birthplace of Sundae. It was invented by Edward C. Benners, the owner of Berners’ Soda Fountain in 1881. Much like the origin, there are varied stories about how Sundae got its name. One story claims that the name comes from the translation of “Sonntag” which means Sunday in German. Another story says that when Evanston, Illinois passed the Blue Law, restricting soda on Sundays, the town invented the term Sunday Soda, which later turned into ‘sundae’.
But whatever the origin is or whatever the name is, one thing that is absolute is how much we love Sundaes. So, grab your ice cream appetite and enjoy the day!

The Role of a Kitchen Remodeler in Enhancing Home Value in Evanston
The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms to remodel. Homeowners and homebuyers prefer attractive and highly functional kitchens for cooking, dining, relaxing, and socializing.
The job of a kitchen remodeler in Evanston is to listen to the goals and desires of the homeowner and create a kitchen remodeling plan to make their objectives a reality. At the same time, the home’s value rises with each new upgrade or improvement made to the kitchen.
Below are the top six ways a kitchen remodeler can help increase the value of your home in Evanston.
1) Improve the Kitchen Aesthetics
Attractive kitchen aesthetics give anyone who sees the kitchen a great first impression. Enhancing the visual appeal of your kitchen is the equivalent of improving the exterior curbside appeal of your home. If your kitchen features attractive colors, designs, patterns, cabinetry, appliances, and flooring, the aesthetic alone will contribute to increasing the value of your home.
2) Installing Energy-Efficient Appliances
Energy-efficient kitchen appliances are in massive demand in the Evanston real estate market. Home buyers are more eco-friendly and wish to save money on their monthly power bills by consuming less electricity. Energy-efficient appliances perform the same functionality as traditional appliances without consuming as much electricity. Including these appliances with your home for sale can significantly increase its value on the market.
3) Adding Backsplashes
Backsplashes are special panels installed on the wall behind the kitchen stove and sink to protect the wall color from grease and food splashes. The backsplashes only require a small investment, but they can pay off greatly by preserving the appearance of the kitchen walls. Doing this will also improve the value of your home.
4) Follow Local Trends
A professional kitchen remodeler understands local kitchen trends in Evanston that can increase a home’s value. They can recommend those trends if you wish to use them to improve your home’s value. The trends could include installing hardwood flooring in the kitchen or adding an island countertop in the middle of the kitchen for extra storage space. Just listen to the trend advice of your kitchen remodeler to make the best choice.
5) Building Custom Cabinets
Professional kitchen remodelers can build high-quality cabinets to increase your home’s value. These handcrafted kitchen cabinets are far superior to the standard manufactured cabinets found in home improvement stores. You can request the remodeler to create a custom cabinet for your kitchen with the size, material, and aesthetics you prefer. Custom kitchen cabinets are always in high demand in the real estate market in Evanston.
6) Installing Custom Countertops
Kitchen countertops are just as crucial to the aesthetics of a kitchen as the cabinets. Installing custom countertops made of desirable materials like quartz or granite will surely increase your home’s value because they are attractive and resist minor scratches and bumps.
If you need advice on the best countertop aesthetics to accommodate the appearance of your kitchen walls and cabinetry, the professional kitchen remodeler can give you their advice and guidance.

Eating sushi alone on the Fourth of July
God bless
The USA
Is playing somewhere down the street,
I could hear it as I walked in,
But as I entered Shinsen,
The name shining in bright neon
And meaning “fresh”
(We shall see)
The only thing heard inside is
Fleetwood Mac, then Dionne Warwick
Their songs fleet and sour the interior
Of this Evanston start up
And conversations heard here are nothing like mine,
High school kids are devouring ramen and wondering if Boston or New York is the best place to move after college,
The one in for finance argues NY
And the unknown jobber claims Boston
- an anonymous consultant, he wants -
They are both so young that In this deep menued Japanese restaurant,
They both go basic Tonkotsu.
Another couple is forgiving themselves for not working out today
and complaining about the recent spat
of underperforming local street fairs,
“No one has an eye anymore…” as they dig into their unagi rolls
(They both ordered the same thing).
The two-foot terror of the room is Sebastian
Whose name brings a chorus in my mind of “of course”
And his parents let him be free-range,
Trying to correct his exhausted three year old’s behavior through gentle suggestion.
It does not work and as Sebastian
Rolls and tumbles about the restaurant,
His parents chuckle
And my robata is nudged because he decided he wanted to touch it.
I push away his hands and his parents react,
Before a word said,
I intend my glare.
They leave soon thereafter
And I order an off-the-menu
Saki bomb
And wait for the food
To activate my edible.

About Company
Take any lazy autumn morning after the duck season opens, when the sun is shafting down through an early morning haze and the leaves are turning the countryside into a painter’s paradise. Imagine a quiet slough, surrounded by a few gentle hills… quiet, that is, except for the odd labored breathing from two hunters wading through the thick gumbo at the edge of the slough, dragging a huge gunnysack of heavy wooden duck decoys between them while perspiration drips down their backs. Imagine the men to be John L. Feusner Sr. and his duck hunting partner, and you have the story of the birth of a multi-million dollar idea – the collapsible rubber duck decoy – and the beginning of a rubber products manufacturing business started 67 years ago.
Mr. John L. Feusner Sr. established Intermountain Rubber Company in Salt Lake City Utah to manufacture Deeks, the worlds first mass produced duck decoy; bringing a high quality, reasonably priced, easy to carry and set-up duck decoy to the average duck hunter. The business flourished during the pre-war years with sales of Deeks rubber duck decoys exceeding 45,000 dozen duck decoys annually by 1940. With the start of World War II and the American involvement in that conflict, production was stopped as all Natural Rubber supplies were allocated to the war effort.
Mr. Feusner enlisted in the United States Navy for a 4 year period and proudly served his country during the war years. With the coming of peace, he returned to Salt Lake City and began to pick up the pieces of his fledging rubber manufacturing business.

1. At what times in your life were you the happiest, and why?
To ask an octogenarian when the happiest time in their life was, and why that was so sets forth a monumental task that requires the review of many memories, experiences and events. I will make that attempt but given the ravages of old age and the myriad of events I will likely miss something.
As a child I enjoyed playing with my brothers. We had active imaginations and a blanket could become a tent or a boat as the necessity arose. The small woods behind our house was a place for great hunts and Cowboy and Indian games. That was before it was declasse to refer to native Americans as Indians. On summer days we packed a lunch and towel and headed for the lake with only the responsibility o f being home by 4:00pm to be ready for dinner. In winter we put on our skates and walked down to the lake to clear a rink and skate until we looked like colorful ice sculptures.
I remember the joy of the end of World War Two. Our neighbor Roddy McIvor was killed when his plane was shot down over France. Many of our playmates had Dads away at the war. On VE day and then on VJ Day we formed a tin pan band and we paraded up and down Wellington Street singing every patriotic song we knew many times over. Food rations were ending.. We no longer were sitting by the radio hearing Quentin Reynolds refer to Hitler as Dr. Schicklegruber. The speeches of Winston Churchill are engraved in my memory. These were worrisome times and the great joy was being done with them and hoping that would last for all time.
Graduation from Sioux Lookout Continuation School was a big event. This was the beginning of my adult life. At the age of 17 I was going to St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Port Arthur, Ontario to become a Registered Nurse. Those were happy years with parties and dances and boyfriends memorable and forgettable. I was pinned to a Beta Theta Pi named Howie Steward. He was handsome and at Northwestern University in Evanston , Illinois. The distance took its toll and that joy ended. Graduating from Nursing School was a lifelong goal accomplished.
In 1958 I married a Scotsman named James Wemyss Joss. Because of his work with an American firm we moved to Pasadena Texas where my firstborn Heather arrived healthy and beautiful Another move to Anchorage, Alaska and the birth of Jaylyn. She too was beautiful and healthy. For several months in 1959 we lived in a beach house in Cheriton, Virginia where Jay’s employer, RCA was building some ,”over the horizon” scanning radar. I was eight months pregnant with Robin and the nearest hospital was 25 miles away in rural Maryland. We moved to Mobile, Alabama where Robin was born a very healthy and beautiful baby. In 6 weeks we were on our way to Washington DC where Jay would eventually work for the Navy Dept. Peter was born at Washington Hospital Center and was a very handsome baby. We spent joyous summer vacations at Rehoboth Beach and many holidays in Canada. Washington was a wonderful city with endless things to do and great museums with no entry fees. There were wonderful military tattoos and magnificent fireworks. There were also times of great concern like the murder of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King.. There were certainly happy times with good friends and good jobs but Jays drinking became an enormous problem. We were divorced.
Four years after parting I married again. We moved to Boston. This was a time of peace and stability if not great joy. My children were all going off to college and I did likewise. I worked full time and went to school in the evening. At the age of 49 I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University in Boston. This was an enormously joyous moment for me and a lifelong dream realized. I was the first one in my family to do so. Three of my four children received college degrees and Robin dropped out of college to pursue a career in acting and modelling in New York. Life was peaceful .
In 1985 we bought a beautiful house in Warner, NH. It was 27 acres on the Warner River and one marker of the property was the abutment of the Waterloo covered Bridge. The property lie in the intervale of the Mink Hills. It was idyllic. It had an in ground pool with a beautiful bar and cabana.. There was a one room .building near the river with a wood stove for heat. This proved a magnificent feature. There was a large vegetable garden sadly unattended but all looked very appealing. After two years here my husband told me of a long standing affair he was having with a woman from our church in Bedford. That was the end of the marriage but was the beginning of the happiest time of my life.
I was welcomed back to work at McLean Hospital where I had many friends. I belonged to the Warner Historical Society where I spent many years running the barn sale that raised significant funds for the Society. I volunteered at the recycling station where I sorted glass and swatted flies and met most of the town people. I experienced a cancer diagnosis and was successfully treated at Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. I traveled to Scotland , Spain, Portugal, Italy Germany and the Canadian Rockies many times. In the midst of this all my children but Robin married. All my grandchildren were born while I lived in Warner. It was hard to imagine a greater joy than seeing your own babies born beautiful and healthy but grandchildren can do that.
The grandchildren visited often. Anne and Merton and Hillary and Harry sometimes had time together there. Kalote and Will came along later and had less time but still have happy memories of wonderful times there. The little house by the river became the center of an annual event. I baked each of the grandchildren a gingerbread house and I cut evergreen boughs and every year for many, on the Sunday after Thanksgiving we gathered in the little house. the children decorated their houses and we made Christmas wreaths and swags. We had chili that was kept warm on the old wood stove. In summer they swam for hours in the pool. We flew huge styrofoam airplanes in the meadow. We slid down the hill toward the pool in Winter. We ate strawberries in the garden and dug potatoes. We had a snowball fight over the barn roof on the last Easter Sunday I lived there. It was the best of times and the greatest joy.
After my 70th birthday it became increasingly more clear that I could no longer manage three acres of lawn, an aging pool, and an enormous garden. I sold Warner and moved to Mountain Road in Concord.
I am now enjoying the pleasure of my grandchildren finishing degrees and living very interesting lives. And then there is the sheer pleasure of great grandchildren and the joy begins again. Since I am past my mid 80’s I will not know the full extent of that So I will say with the fondest of memories that my 22 years in Warner were the most joyful days of my life.
