“I’m back” I smile at Zach

“It’s been far too long since you were last on the show. Last time was 2016 and a lot has happened since then. You came out with another album, went on your first solo tour last year then blew up the internet announcing your relationship with Harry at the Met Gala, this year, moved in with Harry and now your coming out with another album on the 8th November”

“Yeah it’s been crazy” I nod “a good kinda of crazy. The album will be out by the time this comes out”

“Do you ever take a break?”

“Erm no” I laugh “I tried to. I wasn’t going to make any music this year, but I just couldn’t help myself”

“I listened to the album which is a masterpiece by the way”

“Thank you”

“I think it’s a good representation to where you are now mentally and in your personal life”

“Definitely. I have always been honest in my music and it’s very personal to me. Whatever I want to tell the media or people online, I put it in my music. This album is about finding the confidence within yourself and showing that confidence off, that it’s ok to move on and begin the process of falling in love again no matter what anyone else is telling you. You know when your ready not the person on Twitter or instagram who you don’t know and why should someone else care what’s going on in your love life or just personal life in general”

“What do you hope people will take away from this album?”

“I just wanted to put out something that will uplift others. I’ve done the heart break songs I’ve done the emotional songs so that’s why there are only two kinda sadish songs on the album”

“Would they be Twilight Zone and Fake Smile?”

“Yeah. But like they are still songs you can dance to it’s only if you actually listen to the lyrics when you’re like ‘oh shit’”

“How did they start?”

“I wrote them both a while back, Twilight Zone was never supposed to be on the album because it no longer represents where I’m at now. Life changed”

“What changed?”

“Errr” I start to laugh “fuck you Zach you know what changed. Errm, the people in my life”

“Harry”

“No, well yes, but I healed and let myself love someone who loves me back”

“How did it end up on the album?”

“Erm” I shift in my seat “I recorded the demo and gave it to Jeff to give to someone else and he refused to give it away. We changed a few of the lyrics one of them ‘hope this might be the last one cause I’m not fooling anyone’ its become my closure to that part of my life. If that person wants to continue to talk about me then go ahead because I’m now in a happy relationship and I want to focus on that and my future. Any way moving on” I awkwardly laugh

“Your last album had quite a few nominations and you won a few categories. Do we put weight in things like awards or the amount of number 1s?”

“No” I reply into the microphone “I didn’t come into this business because I wanted awards or fame or money. I did it because I like making music and making people happy. Don’t get me wrong it’s amazing when a song gets number 1 or I win or even just get nominated for things, but that’s not what it’s all about for me”

“Number 1s and awards don’t make a great record”

“No I don’t think so. I love all of my songs, but the ones that do get the number 1s or awards are my more throw together in a day kinda thing”

“Do you have any favourites of yours?”

“Oh definitely. Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart is one of my favourites, My Everything/Ghostin. I can’t listen to it without crying, but that song just means a lot to me. Errm I also love Cry Baby but they aren’t my most listened to or number 1s”

“Yes And? Who wrote the line, why do you care so much who- I ride why?” I laugh at this question remembering being in the studio with Emma

“It was Emma who came up with it. At first it was a joke because of all the rumours about me being unfaithful in relationships and that I move from one relationship to another”

“How did you come up with sound behind it?”

“This song is very Madonna Vogue inspired, it’s probably my favourite off the album and for a long time the album was going to be called Yes And? we even had the artwork for it. I don’t know what made me change it, but it just felt right that we did”

“I have to say I think it’s my favourite on the album as well. Is there a tour on the horizon for this album?”

“No. I did a tour last year and while I love being on tour I did a tour for every album with One Direction and by the end I was just exhausted physically and mentally. I will definitely do a tour at some point, but maybe by that point I’ll have a new album out, that’s not to say this album won’t get its moment in the spotlight. I guess we will just see, but just know it won’t happen for at least two years”

“Your forcing yourself to take a break”

“Exactly. Emma’s took my writing book away, Harry’s hidden the pens”

“If you could would you put another album out straight after this one?”

“Oh yeah and who’s to say I can’t ya know. I have so many songs I’ve written but not released I could easily write more music today, but I think only writing music and producing music would become unhealthy very quickly. I could obsess over all of the songs I write or have written, but if I did that I’d probably end up loosing the love I have for music. Music is therapy to me but that doesn’t mean I stop speaking to a professional. Also people would just be so sick of me”

“Thank you so much YN for hanging out with me”

“No thank you”

“Focus will be release on the 8th November, download it, stream it, take it all in. I can’t wait to see what comes next”

Focus is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter YN YLN, released on 8th November 2019 by Columbia Records, reaching number two on the billboard 100. The album's themes revolve around YLNs newfound confidence. The album was primarily written by YLN and friend Emma Thomas.

In an interview with Zach Sang in August 2019 YLN announced stated “the album is about finding the confidence within yourself and showing that confidence off, that it’s ok to move on and begin the process of falling in love again no matter what anyone else is telling you. You know when your ready not the person on Twitter or instagram who you don’t know and why should someone else care what’s going on in your love life or just personal life in general”

The majority of the album is based off the media and constant questions on the status of the singer’s relationships.

In 2018 the singers YN YLN and Harry Styles had photos leaked online of them kissing. They were spotted about multiple times leaving restaurants, holding hands and kissing. They didn’t confirm anything until February 2019 when they arrive to the Met Gala together. It’s speculated that the song ‘Do What I Want To Do’ was written about Styles when he was still in his relationship with model Camille Rowe.

Release, promotion and singles

The album had 3 singles that were released prior to the album ‘7 Rings’, ‘Yes And?’ and the title track ‘Focus’ following the album release 2 more singles were released, ‘Dandelion’ and ‘No Tears Left To Cry’

‘Yes And?’ was the lead single for the album being released on 17th August 2019, a music video was released on the same day. YN had to say about the song “this song is very Madonna Vogue inspired, it’s probably my favourite off the album and for a long time the album was going to be called Yes And? we even had the artwork for it. I don’t know what made me change it, but it just felt right that we did”. The song hit number one in the UK billboard charts, staying at number one for 6 weeks.

‘Focus’ was release on the 16th September hitting 15 in the billboard charts. YLNs friend Emma Thomas was included within the music video.

On 26th November YLN 5th single ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ was released hitting number 5, but quickly being over taken by Harry Styles’ Adore You.

Tour

YLN announced she wouldn’t be going on tour for this album. She announced in an interview with Zane Lowe “I did a tour last year and while I love being on tour I did a tour for every album with One Direction and by the end I was just exhausted physically and mentally. I will definitely do a tour at some point, but maybe by that point I’ll have a new album out, that’s not to say this album won’t get its moment in the spotlight. I guess we will just see, but just know it won’t happen for at least two years”.

Trigger warning- talks about throwing up (not in detail)

Harry had been in the recording studio all afternoon, part of me needed to be alone, cuddled in bed with no one disturbing me, but the other part of me just wanted him home. What started off this morning as just a headache has quickly turned into a migraine and sickness, getting worse as the day goes on.

I have no clue what the time is when I hear the front door open and close. Cookie and Peanut run downstairs barking excitedly

“YN I’m home. Where are you?” I know he’s frowning. My head hurts to much to shout down to him and I have no energy to get out of bed “where’s your mum?” I hear him ask the dogs then footsteps coming upstairs. I feel the dogs jump back on the bed “hey love” I try to open my eyes to see him, but the pains to much “whats wrong?”

“Headache, been sick, cold then hot, stomach hurts” I say quietly I feel Harry place his cool hand on my for head before moving some hair out of the way

“You feel really warm. Have you taken any medicine?”

“I tried but brought it back up straight away”

“You need to drink something love even if it’s just small sips. I’ll be back in a moment” I hear Harry leaving the bedroom. When he returns he hands me an open bottle. I take a small sip and hand it back to him “do you think you might be sick again?”

“Maybe. I dunno” I sigh

“Take this. Put it under your tongue to dissolve” I glance at what Harry is holding “I know it’s travel sickness tablets but if they help feeling sick on a boat I thought they might help with this” I take one of the tablets that Harry and I got for our trip earlier in the year just in case I got sea sick “I’m just going to go to the bathroom to get ready for bed. I’ll leave the door closed to minimise the light”

Once Harry was ready for bed he carefully slipped in next to me “I’ll take the dogs for their walk in the morning. You just rest up”

“Would it be better if you stay in the spare room tonight?” I ask Harry

“What why?” although he was quiet I could hear how offended he was

“I don’t want you catching whatever this is and I also don’t want to keep you up if I’m in and out of bed”

“If I catch it then I catch it, it will then be your turn to look after me. That’s what you do in a relationship. And I want to know if your getting up to be sick, last thing I want is to wake up in the morning to you passed out in the bathroom because you became dehydrated from throwing up. Also there’s no way Peanut and Cookie will leave your side. If they need to toilet in the night you won’t be taking them down. So I will be sleeping next to you in our bed”

“Ok” I softly chuckle

During the night I was up and down, I think I finally got some sleep at round 3am. True to his word Harry walked the dogs for me, he went to the pharmacy and got some anti sickness medicine, electrolytes for my water and crackers.

The week leading up to the housewarming party has been whirlwind. Harry and I have been decorating nonstop, building furniture and making sure the guest rooms are finished so that my dad and Anne have somewhere to sleep, Emma and Olivia are unfortunately on the sofas.

Finally Saturday had arrived, the weather outside was gorgeous so Harry has set up the gazebo out the back while I’ve been cooking.

“Are you sure we need this much food?” Harry asks wiping the sweat on his forehead

“Absolutely. You do remember how much the boys used to eat. And anyway leftovers are a bonus Harry chuckles at my response.

As the afternoon war on the door bell started to ring. First was Anne to arrive with wine, flowers and quiche. Next my dad arrives with more wine and a cheese platter. Emma and Olivia were next with cookies. The boys started to trickle in one by one not long after.

Music is playing through the speaker, Harry is sat with Niall and Louis laughing about some joke Niall had said. I’m in the kitchen with Emma pouring some drinks

“Can I tell you something ?” Emma asks as I pass her a drink

“Of course, you know you can tell me anything”

“I want to propose to Olivia” my eyes widen and I squeal making Harry look at me

“Everything ok in there?” He asks with a smile on his face

“Everything’s fine H” I say still squealing

“Shhhh”

“Sorry it’s just, my best friend wants to… propose” I say the last bit as quietly as I can “have you got a ring?”

“Mmhm” Emma nods “it’s simple but….. hey” Emma stops, looking behind me. I turn around and see Olivia

“What are we talking about?” Olivia wraps her arm around Emma’s waist

“Oh just that erm”

“I’m nearly finished with my next album” I quickly recover

“Ooo exciting. Do we get any sneak peaks?” Oliva asks

“I’ll let you hear the next single later”

As the night went on, we listened to music, played games and ate till our heart’s content. Everyone left by 1am. Dad and Anne in spare rooms, Harry and I in our bed with Cookie and Peanut on the bottom of the bed

“Tonight went well”

“Emma’s going to propose to Olivia” I blurt out

“What? Wait is that what had you screaming earlier?”

“Yes” I turn to face Harry “she’s got a ring and everything”

“Wow. This is big news”

“It is but you can’t breathe a word of this to anybody! Because Olivia can’t know that it’s going to happen ok?”

“I won’t say anything don’t worry” Harry chuckles

“Good” I say before yawning

“Goodnight love” Harry placed a kiss on my forehead

The next step in mine and Harry’s relationship had arrived. Sure we have lived together before, but it’s different this time. We’re actually dating now, not just roommates.

I stand in the empty living room with my hands on my hips when I feel arms wrap around me and lips kissing my neck. Giggling I turn around and face Harry

“What are you thinking?” He asks

“That this is our home. Ours. We’re not renting, we’re not just roommates this time. We have a joint account, we pay half of everything. It’s very…”

“Domestic?” Harry takes the words out of my mouth

“Exactly, but I’m excited for our next step”

“Me too. I can’t wait to argue over what colour we paint our bedroom”

“We don’t need to argue, I told you you could choose if I can choose the kitchen counters and tiles” Harry chuckles before placing a kiss on my lips

“Are you both going to help us or are you just going to spend the afternoon kissing?” Harry’s sister Gem says teasingly holding a box

“Sorry” I pull away from Harry “thats the dogs box, just stick it in the kitchen for now”

“YN, Harry the sofas here” my dad calls out from outside. Two men then come inside carrying the dark grey sofa, Cookie and Peanut running inside with Anne

“Where would you like it?” one of the men asks

“Just here” Harry instructs

“Thank you for taking them for a walk” I tell Anne with a smile

“It’s not a problem. Now where are we up to with the boxes?”

“There’s a few left in Harry’s car that need to come out”

Gem and I each take a box and bring them upstairs

“You know your dad’s probably having the chat with Harry right now” I roll my eyes and smile

“I think my dads just happy we finally got together”

“You’re a good match, balance each other out. How was it, going public?”

“Scary. I liked our little bubble, but it was time. We couldn’t keep our relationship a secret forever, but I don’t want to share too much of our lives. That’s when people interfere and things can go wrong”

“Sensible”

The rest of the day is filled with emptying boxes and putting furniture together. Considering we don’t have a bed yet, just a mattress on the floor, we couldn’t exactly ask Anne, Gem and my dad to stay over. So after having some pizza on paper plates, because neither Harry or I wanted to watch up, we said our goodbyes and thank yous.

When they were gone Harry and I settled on the new sofa, Cookie curled up on Harry’s lap and Peanut on the sofa next to me with his head on my lap.

“We should have a housewarming party, not right now because we definitely haven’t got everything sorted, but maybe in a few weeks?”

“Absolutely” Harry replied “I was thinking about what you said earlier, how this is our home and we are getting very serious. We have one room in the house that we have no use for yet, but maybe one day in the future it could be a nursery for our children or child” I look at Harry wide eyed

“You think about that? Having kids, with me?”

“Of course I do. That is if you want children.”

“I do. I really do. How many do you want?”

“However many you want to have. It’s your body, you’ll be doing all the hard work and if you just want one that’s fine by me like I said it’s your body”

“Harry you really are the sweetest” I place a kiss on his cheek “i love you”

“I love you more” Harry pulls me into his side and kisses the top of my head “what shall we watch?” he asks picking up the remote

“Can we watch mean girls?”

“Of course”

Today Harry and I are making our first public appearance together as a couple; while part of me is excited for this, another part of me is nervous. Nervous for how our little bubble will officially be burst.

“Are you ready?” Harry's voice broke through my thoughts

“Almost” I reply, turning to face him with a smile. Harry is dressed in a black jumpsuit, but the arms and most of the chest is a sheer black materiel showing off his tattoos. I opted for a long back sleeveless dress

Harry's eyes widen as he steps closer, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear “You look stunning. Like a work of art” I feel my cheeks heating up “how are you feeling?” Harry now asks more serious

“I’m ok. Nervous but I’m also excited” I tell him “what about you?”

“I can’t wait to show you off to the world. Show them that you truly are mine”

“Sap” I roll my eyes and nudge him “I just need to put my earrings in then I’m ready”

“Ok, I’ll let Lambert know we’re ready”

Arriving at the venue, the steps leading up to the entrance were lined with flashing cameras and eager fans, I take a deep breath

“Ready?” Harry asks offering his arm to me

“Ready” I reply taking his arm. Immediately as we walk up the steps there are hundreds of flashing lights

“How you doing Mr Harry Styles, Mis YN YLN?” liza koshy asks as we approach her

“Good. Nice to see ya” Harry smiles

“This is your first Met ever and you both look incredible. Can you tell me about your looks”

“Thank you” I smile “we’re both wearing Gucci”

“Mine pretty camp”

“What does camp mean to you?” Liza asks Harry

“Erm I think it’s about enjoyment and about fun. No judgement and having fun with clothes”

“YN you’ve gone, what I can only describe as dark princess what was the inspiration behind this?”

“A few reasons really. I wanted to match Harry with the colour and lace, but also I just wanted to feel comfortable in my body and beautiful”

“Well you definitely achieved the latter, you look gorgeous” Liza says smiling

“Thank you”

Harry and I move on after our chat with Liza. We make our way inside the Metropolitan Museum for our tour and cocktails. Being here it’s like I’ve actually made it. The realisation hits me like a ton of bricks

“Hey, you okay?” Harry asks me as I take in a deep breath

“Yeah. Just... a bit overwhelmed I guess. I used to watch the red carpet of the Met and now I’m here, it’s…” I pause trying to find the right words

“A lot?” Harry replies for me

“Exactly”

“Ok. Let's take a breather” Harry takes my hand and pulls me to a corridor that’s quieter

“Thank you,” I sigh leaning against a wall

“I guess I just realised that I’m not the small town girl anymore, like people know who I am and watch my every move. It’s scary sometimes. I want to enjoy tonight because I’m here, I’m actually at the MetGala, but at the same time, holy shit I’m at the Met Gala. I don’t know if I’m making sense or if I’m just rambling nonsense”

“Come here” Harry opens his arms up to me. Immediately I let him wrap me up “I get what you’re saying completely, our lives aren’t that normal, but tonight let’s look at it as what it is, a charity event. We have done the press and photos, now let’s just enjoy dinner”

“Thank you. You always know what to say. I love you”

“I love you too. Ready to go back or do you want to stay here a little longer?”

“I’m ok now. Let's go back out there and have fun”

“Now that's the spirit” Harry grins, taking my hand and leading me back to where everyone else is.

YN and Harry Romance Confirmed?

Have YLN and Styles finally confirmed their relationship?

Since both YN and Harry have finished up their tours, they have been spotted together a lot recently, so much that it has been reported that YN spent Christmas at Anne Twists home.

With rumours only getting stronger each day, the pair were spotted holding hands while leaving Abbey Road Studios in London on the 22nd January. Fans who spotted the couple kept asking if this was a confirmation of their relationship, neither YLN or Styles officially confirmed the relationship, but Styles was reported to let go of YLNs hand and wrap his arm around her waist while leading her towards the car waiting for them.

Is this an official confirmation or will they say they are just friends?

“He’s so cute” Emma squeals holding my new puppy that I just got “what are you going to call him”

“I wanted something to go with Cookie so I was thinking, Peanut” I tell Emma

“Peanut, I like it” Emma says putting the puppy down who then goes straight to Cookie curled up on the floor

“How are they getting along?” Oliva asks nodding towards the dogs. Peanut curls up next to Cookie “I think that has answered my question” Oliva laughs

“Yeah they’re getting on well. I think Cookie thinks Peanut is her baby. They’re always near each other”

“And how does Harry feel? I know you aren’t living together so he didn’t have much of a say in the matter, but ya know he’s obviously got an opinion”

“When I told him I was thinking of getting a puppy he was all for it. Came with me to the rescue center. Peanut is basically obsessed with Harry”

“Speaking of moving in…” Emma wiggles her eyebrows

“Or have you spoken more about when you might go public?”

“Kinda. We were thinking maybe getting a place together sometime next year. I also don’t want our relationship to be super public. I don’t think we will officially announce anything but I guess just start being less secretive. I don’t want everyone knowing every little detail. I think that’s when things can go wrong, like having people you don’t know telling you what to do”

“I think that’s very sensible. And Harry’s ok with that? I know he wanted to go public and then you had that argument”

“Well we learned we needed to communicate better and that’s what we’ve been doing. We’re… compromising. He wants to go public and we will, but it won’t be a hard launch or an official announcement”

I walk into my kitchen to see Harry humming a tune he’s been humming a lot recently

“Are you going to tell me what song you’re working on yet or have I got to wait?” I ask arms folded leaning against the wall

“All in good time my love” harry smiles bringing over pancakes and a coffee

“Thanks” we walk over to the dining room table and sit down “H”

“Hmm?” Harry looks up from his plate

“I was thinking”

“Oh no” I nudge Harry under the table with my food

“Oi”

“Sorry. Continue”

“I was thinking we should go on holiday together, before the end of the year or beginning of next year”

“I like that idea. Anywhere in particular you’d like to go?”

“Italy. I kinda fell in love when we did our concerts there” I give him a little shrug

“My mum and sister love you” Harry says briefly looking at me before looking back at the road “you’ve stayed over at mums plenty of times”

“But this is different H. This is our first Christmas together” I say picking at my nails

“I know but your dad’s coming over as well. When we get our own place we can start hosting Christmas”

“Mmm” I hum

“You do still want to look at houses next year don’t you?” I can hear the worry in Harry’s voice

“Of course I do. Sorry H think I’m just nervous”

“Everything’s going to be ok. No need to worry” just as he says that we pull into Anne’s driveway “come on” Harry turns the car off and gets out. I take a deep breath and get out the car. Before I even get the dogs out of the car the front door swings open

“Merry Christmas Eve” Anne smiles excitedly

“Hi mum” Harry walks over and gives Anne a hug. I let Cookie and Peanut out

“YN it’s so good to see you again”

“Hi Anne” I smile walking over to her with the dogs. I give her a small hug before walking into the house

“Finally!” Gem sighs making me laugh “what took you so long!”

“Had to make a few puppy breaks” Harry replies nodding towards the puppy

“Your sure you don’t mine having the dogs here, especially since Peanut is still having a few accidents?”

“Of course YN. I’ve put some puppy pads down just in case”

“Thank you”

“Mum I’ve just got to get the presents out of the car”

“Oh Harry you didn’t have to get us anything”

“Er yeah he did” Gem says with a ‘duh’ tone. Harry rolls his eyes at his sister before leaving the room

“Tea?” Anne asks

“Yes please”

Once Anne has made the tea and Harry has come back inside we tell Anne about our little get away

“Rome was amazing. We went to the colosseum and we did a food tour”

“How was the food?” Gem asks looking at me

“I cannot tell you how good it was. I think I’m in love. You both need to come with us next time. Maybe in the summer when it’s warm”

“I’d love that” Anne says. The door then knocks “that will be your dad” Anne gets up to answer the door.

Mine and Harry’s relationship is getting super serious now.

From 2010- Last Day Of Tour

Part 78

It’s the final show of tour and it’s a very bitter sweet moment. My first solo tour has been a success and while I am definitely ready for a break I am also going to miss being up here. I have just finished singing Be Alright and now it’s time for a chat with the crowd

“Hello London. I’m back where the tour first started and it’s definitely a bittersweet moment. I just want to take a moment to thank you all for being here tonight. This tour has been about more than just music for me. It’s been about healing, about sharing my story, and about finding strength in vulnerability” i look around and notice a few fans held up signs saying We love you, YN! and You’re not alone! making me feel emotional “tonight I’m very lucky because I have my family and friends here. Can we give them a big welcome” the crowd all shout making me giggle a little “ok ok. The next song has had you guys guessing who or what it’s about. I’m going to finally answer your questions. Yes” I then begin to sing True Story.

My last show goes quickly and I’m already at my last song before the encore

“This is the last song of the Breakup Tour” I announce and there’s hundreds of nos and sighs “It's called Cry Baby” the opening chords fill the arena, and wave of emotion crashes over me. This is it. This song and one more, then this tour is over. What’s next? New music- maybe.

I finish Cry Baby then my encore Super Over then step off the stage. My adrenaline begins to fade and is replaced by exhaustion and emotion. I had poured my heart into every performance, and now it was over. An emptiness settles in my chest. It’s over. I see Harry waiting for me at my dressing room

“You were incredible” Harry says with open arms. Immediately I enter his embrace

“It's just... so much to take in. I can't believe it's over” I snuggle into Harry’s warmth

“I know” he says pulling away slightly to look at my face “but it's also a new beginning for you, for us” I smile a little

“It just feels so surreal. I put everything I had into this tour, and now... what do I do next?”

“Whatever you want” Harry says “Take your time. You don't have to have all the answers right now, but no matter what you choose I’ll support you”

“Thank you H. You always know what to say”

“Let’s head back to the hotel, I’ll run you a bath” Harry places a gentle kiss on my forehead “I may or may not have ordered some treats for us”

“You’re actually the sweetest” I tell Harry.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I’ve not posted much this month but I’ve had a bit of writer’s block. I have also broken my foot so been in a lot of pain and pain killers have been making me really sleepy. I’ve been doing better the last couple of days so I’m hoping to get writing done this week. I won’t have a schedule out for next month just because I don’t know how much I’ll be able to write. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

Be Alright is the second solo studio album by British singer and songwriter YN YLN, released in 2017 by Columbia Records. The album was written by YLN and Justin Bieber during Biebers Purpose Tour in 2016.

Be Alright debuted at number 5 on the 28th August 2017 on the Billboard 100 charts in the UK, selling 124,000 copies in the first week of release. The album was supported by five singles, ‘Shut Up’ ‘We Can’t Be friends’ ‘Love Me Harder’ ‘Super Over’ and the title track ‘Be Alright’. The lead single ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ reached number one in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia, staying at number one on the UK charts for 9 weeks before being over taken by Post Malone ‘Rockstar’.

Fans claim the songs ‘Shut Up’ and ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ are about the online hate on social media as well as newspapers, however many say these songs can have double meanings and be about people in her life.

Background and composition

“I had too many songs that’s just didn’t make the first album, so I wanted to add some of them to this one” YLN stats in an interview with Allan Carr.

Recording sessions began in early December 2016 through to late February “the album wasn’t supposed to be out until late this year early next year, but I was just to excited to release it. I spoke to my manager Jeff and he helped move the process along” YN states in the same interview.

Speaking to James Corden YLN stated “F U Anthem, Super Over and Gave It Away were originally supposed to be on Break Up Season, but I didn’t have room on that album. I loved them to much to let them just disappear. Justin and I wrote Shut Up and Problem while on a phone call Harry and I wrote Cry Baby in two hours. The album is still very much a break up album, but the moving on side of things knowing that yes it hurt at the beginning but everything’s going to be ok, hence Be Alright”.

The first song to be written for the album 'Shut Up' which was written by YLN and Bieber while on tour in the US. Bieber stated in an interview with James Corden “the song started when YN was saying she wish she could just say shut up to everyone asking silly questions and the press just making up rubbish. We wrote it as a bit of a joke at first but YN really liked the idea of the song”.

Release, promotion and singles

YLN announced the release of her second album ‘Be Alright’ on the 2nd June and revealed the artwork on Instagram captioning it “My second album will be with you on the 28th August! I’m so proud of everyone who’s been involved with the project”

On the 5th August YN performed at the 2017 MTV Video and Music Awards, debuting her single ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ later releasing the music video on the 7th.

During an interview with Zane Lowe YLN spoke this of the lyrics in ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ “there’s a lot of lies out there and while I wish I could sit down and say this and that isn’t true, I know that theres no point in arguing, people will be believe what they want. The truth always comes out in the end. Early on in my career I let the press get to me, but I’ve been learning to let it just roll off my back”

Tour

YLN announced she would be going on tour on 1st October. The Break Up Tour would start on the 4th January in London and end in New York on the 19th September. The singer would include songs from both her albums with Dove Cameron as her supporting act on the American leg of the tour.
