Matt Casey and Wife Reader
There’s a big crash and 51 gets called out to it and they find Matt’s wife’s car in the crash all smashed up and Matt’s pregnant wife unconscious and hurt inside with their toddler son Jack who is crying. So Matt and the 51 guys do their best to save the family of their own Captain.
Warnings: Car crash, canon-typical injuries, death.
A/N: Once again, one month later. Life is not vibing right now but it's okay. I hope anyone who celebrated Eid had a wonderful time! very belated Eid Mubarak.
I hope this suffices and meets your expectations. I know this was sent ages ago and I apologise for the very long wait, I've just had zero inspiration and drive to write. This month has been very stressful with exams but please do enjoy!!
Matt was angsty and restless ever since his 24-hour shift started. There was no reason as to why he was but no matter what he did, he couldn't get rid of the feeling. He tried sleeping it off, eating lunch and even calling you when they weren't busy, but he still felt unnerved.
Just as he was about to text you, wanting to quickly check in again, something he'd been doing much more regularly now that you were pregnant along with looking after your toddler, the bells rang.
Internally groaning, Matt tried ignoring whatever his body was trying to scream at him and rushed towards the trucks, everyone quickly getting their uniform on before jumping into their 'allocated' seats.
It didn't take too long to arrive at the scene, the mess being much larger than what they anticipated. But maybe this was good, the more work he had to do, the less time he had to himself and to contemplate on whatever was bothering him today. The scene was one large mess, cars mangled together for what seemed like miles.
Maybe this was the exact distraction he needed.
Boden began shouting orders, Kelly and him following as they too started to delegate roles between their own respective crews. With equipment in hand, everyone scattered to hopefully start minimising this massive mess. From the looks of it, several casualties were to be expected with many more injured.
Squeezing between cars, Matt looked through broken windows looking for anyone who was stuck or left behind, also keeping an ear out for any shouts of help. Only, he didn't hear anyone shouting for help, but he heard crying.
It wasn't piercing like a newborn; he knew that sound well, but it sounded like a child and that made his heart skip a beat. Ever since Jack was born, calls involving kids become infinitely worse to handle.
Running towards the crying, Matt held his breath in an attempt to hear better, but his feet suddenly came to a stop before his brain could even register what was happening.
That was your car that along with many others, was laying on its side.
Matt vividly remembered you telling him your plans for the day this morning while he got ready for work and you fed Jack. You were going to run to the office to pick up some bits before taking Jack out to the trampoline park with some of his friends and other mums.
Apparently, you never made it to the park.
The crying continued and everything came crashing down on him. It wasn't just any crying, he recognised it easily now that he was closer.
Rushing forward, Matt ignored the broken glass and dropped to his knees as he looked for his family.
He saw you first. Your eyes shut, blood trailing down your forehead, head slumped to the side and seatbelt digging into your body that sat unmoving.
He then looked in the back where the crying hadn't stopped, Jack's eyes screwed shut as he wailed, the occasional 'mama' audible between cries.
"Jack. Daddy's here Jack." Matt forced out, his throat constricting at the sight of his hurt family. First things first, he had to get Jack settled and out the car before he could get you out. "Jack, it's me."
His crying calmed down, eyes peeling open as his crying slowly eased when he found his father.
"Are you okay Jack? You hurt anywhere baby?" Matt asked, easily taking apart the door and getting in besides the car seat.
"Daddy." Finally having one of his parents with and responding to him, Jack started to cry again, making grabby hands towards Matt as his words went through one ear and out the other.
"It's okay. I've got you now." Matt cooed, unbuckling from his car seat and before he could do anything, Jack launched himself into his dad's open arms.
A small oof was forced out of Matt from the sudden force of Jack catapulting into him. But he tightly wrapped his arms around his toddler nonetheless, his chest somewhat lighter with his boy safe in his embrace.
"Matt, is that- oh shit." Kelly swore as he rounded the car, eyes going wide as he saw father and son.
"I'm taking him to Sylvie." Matt started, holding out Jack for Kelly to take so he could jump out of the car that was still on its side and creaking with every movement he made. Without another word, Kelly took his godson and waited for Matt to get out before handing him back over.
"I'm waiting on Cruz and Violet." Kelly said, his eyes remaining on the father and son duo, both of their arms wrapped tightly around the other in fear of being separated again. "We've got Y/N, I promise."
Matt didn't even bat an eye when his best friend made a promise, one of which they were never allowed to make as first responders.
With another glance at your unconscious body, Matt held his breath as he stepped away, his heart constricting when Jack realised what was happening, trying his best to not crumble at his toddler's cries for his mama who wasn't responding to him.
*****
Somehow, Jack came out of the crash relatively unharmed besides the few cuts and bruises. He was for sure to be sore for the rest of the week. You however, your physical state was harder taking into account your pregnancy and they could only do so much in an ambulance.
It took them some time, but they had gotten you out safely, laying down still unmoving on a backboard. There were two of you but only one of him and with the way Jack was gripping his uniform jacket, there was no way he could leave, especially when he'd whimper at any movement he made, in hear his father would leave him alone.
Boden had dismissed him from the scene, giving him the permission to ride in the same ambulance as you, Jack not once letting go of him.
The hospital was in its usual disarray but Matt's concern was so high for you and your unborn child that he didn't even bat an eye at all the doctors and nurses running around ragged.
Natalie had seen you immediately, wasting no time in checking your physical state before scanning your stomach.
Matt could've cried when Natalie confirmed there was absolutely no harm caused besides whatever had been inflicted upon you.
After a few more checks and tests, Natalie turned to him with an understanding smile.
"She most likely has a concussion, some bruises that will definitely be sore for few weeks but nothing internal or severe."
Matt sighed in relief, his entire body deflating as he slumped back in the chair, Jack moving with him from his now permanent position in Matt's lap.
"You can go sit with her."
And so he did without any further prodding.
Walking back into the room, Matt looked your unconscious figure over, confirming with his own eyes that everything was indeed fine and you were in fact healthy.
Manoeuvring the sleeping toddler in his lap, Matt sat down and placed your hand in his. His fingers gently caressing the scars and scratches on your hands, knuckles raw and red from the sudden impact.
Closing his eyes, Matt lightly pressed a kiss into Jack's hair, his eyes stuck on you.
His little family were all safe and with him here where he wouldn't let them out of his sight. If his throat got tight and his eyes watery, glistening in the bright hospital lights, no one saw.
No one would blame a man who almost lost all his family before he could even meet its final member.
Matt sniffled, shaking away such unnecessary deprecating thoughts. You were all here now, unharmed for the most of it, and you were back with him. That was all that mattered.

Worth It
Pairing: Matt Casey x Reader
Requested: no
Summary: Y/N struggles with demands from a friend, and Matt solidifies the fact he will always be in her corner.
Word Count: 2.6K+
Warnings/Tags: toxic friendships
A/N: something bugged me recently so here’s a fic! This can be a bit of a controversial take based on the context but didn’t want to go full on in the fic so anyway~ just needed to get this off my chest.
“Baby, I’m…” Matt’s voice drifted off slightly before he completed his sentence, “…home.”
You could only imagine being Matt and coming home to this sight.
You were seated in the middle of the living room in the apartment you shared with Matt, surrounded by yarn, bits of fluff stuck in your hair, sheets of sketched designs strewn across the floor.
You could feel the panic rise even more as you took in the look on Matt’s face. Especially since you couldn’t read his emotions as the anxiety clouded your brain.
“Matt, I…”
You couldn’t continue as you felt your chest tighten just a little, the anxiety and panic clawing its way to the surface and rearing its ugly head at you.
This had all started with Amy.
Amy.
She was a friend you’d known for almost your entire life. You’d laughed together, cried together, dreamed about the future together and talked about those dreams. Along the way, you both had stumbled, you saw less of each other, and Amy reached out less, sometimes forgetting to respond to your messages. Despite what everyone told you, you convinced yourself that it was just how life was and you made excuses for Amy’s growing absence in your life.
Then, she’d reached out to tell you she was getting married.
You felt the excitement first, remembering it like it was yesterday, how you had both talked excitedly about how you would be each other’s bridesmaids. It wasn’t a conscious memory, but it was like your brain had pulled it up, triggered by the words Amy was saying.
You didn’t even feel any apprehension when she asked if you would make the flowers for the bridesmaids. You weren’t too confident because crocheted flowers weren’t really your thing. In fact, you’d only tried it out once. So you’d told Amy you’d give it a shot, make a prototype and see how it went.
You could tell Matt hadn’t been thrilled with the idea but he didn’t say much, only offering opinions when you asked for them and keeping most of his comments focused on the task rather than Amy. Yet, you knew he was holding back. You knew Matt didn’t feel great about Amy, mainly because of the things he’d witnessed, in particular, the way she blew back into your life when it was convenient for her.
But things had been going downhill ever since you’d made the first prototype. She kept changing what she wanted, and even you were getting a little frustrated, mixed with a desire not to disappoint her.
So, having Matt stand there with a surprised look on his face in the middle of an extremely messed up living room only added to your current panic.
You felt your breath quicken and very soon, Matt’s figure was clouded by the tears you didn’t realize had pooled behind your eyes.
Without saying anything, Matt dropped whatever was in his arms, heading straight for you and folding you nice and tight into his arms.
“Y/N, it’s okay. It’s okay.” Matt whispered quietly, and you felt the rumble of his chest before your breathing slowly evened out once again.
Matt didn’t move immediately, but his fingers brushed off the residual tears that were rolling down your cheeks.
“Sorry, I don’t…”
Matt just tightened his arms a little and pressed a kiss firmly to the top of your head.
“Sorry,” You mumbled, scrubbing off the remnants of tears on your cheeks before glancing up at him.
Matt shook his head and leaned down for another kiss and you leaned into his embrace, temporarily forgetting about the mess in the living room.
By the time you woke up the next morning, there was barely a trace of the mess last night. The yarn was back in the boxes you had in the corner of the room and the half done flowers were laid out neatly on the kitchen counter.
No one else would have guessed what had happened the night before.
Matt was almost on his way out, draining the last sip of his coffee and smiling as you walked into the kitchen.
He didn’t ask but just studied your face for a little longer than usual.
You smiled back at him and nodded. “Go on, I’m fine.” You assured him, even though you stepped toward him and nuzzled your face into his shoulder.
Matt pressed you lightly against him and pressed a kiss to your temple.
“You know where to find me if you need me.” Matt whispered gently into your ear.
You smiled into his shoulder with a small nod before both of you pulled away and you let Matt go before he was late for shift.
Even as the door closed behind Matt, you felt it rear to the surface. This time, the feeling was different. It wasn’t even residual anxiety from the night before. You couldn’t put your finger on it but it was bugging you.
Deciding that it might be good to have a change of pace, you grabbed the materials you needed, slung the tote bag over your shoulders and left the house, figuring you’d find a nice cafe to work out of.
So you did and you had been right. A change of environment had done wonders for you and you finally had a final prototype for the new flower idea Amy had had.
You snapped a photo and sent it to Amy, quoting as reasonable a price you could for the materials and stitches. You even gave her what she called a ‘friend discount’.
But for someone who sometimes took days to respond to you, her response was quick now.
It’s a little out of my budget.
Thereafter, she proceeded to give you a price she was willing to pay that was such a lowball, you almost dropped your phone.
It took you a moment and another few breaths to register that feeling bubbling up in your chest now. You recognised it as a more intense version of what you had been feeling that morning. Now, you could indeed put your finger on it - Disappointment.
It was disappointment that raged within you. Especially when you’d always treated Amy like a sister.
You felt it swell as you thought about the effort you’d put in all these years, even just the effort in designing flowers she would want for her wedding, and then you remembered the many times she’d blown you off, and when she’d been dating that toxic ex of hers and had cut you out of her life for more than a year until the break up.
Resisting the urge to send her a scathing reply, you stuffed the rest of your belongings into your bag and headed out the cafe, only realizing where your legs had taken you when you looked up at the firehouse in front of you.
The trucks were all parked which meant everyone was around.
Now that you were here, you had second thoughts and you were about to retreat, thinking you’d talk to Matt during breakfast the next day when you heard an all too familiar voice call out to you.
“Y/N?”
Of course today would be the day Kelly came to get something out of his car.
“Hey, Kelly.” You greeted back, your voice sounding weird even to you.
Kelly either didn’t notice or chose not to mention it. He just smiled and nodded. “Come on, Casey’s in his office.”
You didn’t protest, letting Kelly lead you in as if it was your first time visiting the firehouse.
Everyone called out toward you with smiles and you waved back at them as you made your way through the common room and toward Matt’s office.
“Look who I found,” Kelly called with a casual rap at Matt’s door.
Matt sat up, glancing at you before smiling. “Thanks, Sev.”
Kelly winked, more at you than him, before leaving the both of you alone.
Matt got up to close his door and glanced at you. “Everything okay?”
After all, you rarely came to the firehouse without a call beforehand. Usually, you were worried about being in the way so you only came to bring them some food, especially when you’d heard it was a difficult shift.
You nodded. “Nothing big, I just…”
You held back a heavy sigh and just handed him your phone.
Matt’s eyes moved across your phone screen as he read the message and you could see the slight darkening of his expression, even though he was trying to keep it under control.
Matt looked back up at you and handed your phone back to you. “So what are you thinking?” Matt asked.
You shouldn’t have been shocked by Matthew Casey’s complete focus on your feelings, but you couldn’t help the little jolt of warmth that still filled you even though you and Matt had been dating for a long while.
You shrugged and Matt gave you a look, which just made you smile.
“Fine, I’m annoyed. It’s like every single moment with her has been flashing in my head since I got that message and the annoyance has been piling. That’s why I haven’t responded.”
“Go for it, babe.” Matt said, matter of factly.
You glanced at him with half a smile.
“You deserve to be treated with respect and I think it’s high time someone told her. And if you don’t want to do it, I’d be happy to.” Matt said, his voice laced with a subtle protectiveness.
You pulled him toward you, just so you can lay your head against him and smiled. “Thank you.”
The conversation had gone about as you’d expected.
You tried your best to keep your side as light as possible while remaining firm, and ultimately, the decision had been for you to try to do little flower wristlets for Amy’s flower girls, instead of a large order of flowers.
You weren’t too thrilled to do it anymore, but a part of you felt obliged to, so you’d agreed.
It was only two days later that you had run into Amy when Matt had taken you out for dinner.
“Hey, I…” You greeted her even from a distance, trying to keep things as normal as possible.
But you didn’t miss the look on her face as she turned away, as if she was pretending not to see you.
Instinctively, you glanced up at Matt, your expression one of disbelief.
Matt just squeezed your hand but you could see the strain lines on his face which were a clear telltale sign he was using all his effort to hold back.
Matt was trying to reassure you, but the only thing you felt now was anger.
There was no more second-guessing on your part about whether you had been too harsh or too mean. You knew the answer.
You were about to open a small side business for your crochet. All your friends, including Amy, knew that.
In fact, anyone who tried to ask you to make something for them had always offered you more than what you quoted, reminding you that friends didn’t take each other for a ride.
Amy was the exact opposite and what really grinded at you was the fact that she thought she was well within her rights to be angry at you.
You were a little confused but the anger had swallowed it all up.
“You want to go elsewhere?” Matt offered.
You glanced up at him.
If this had been anyone else, it might have made you avoid the situation altogether. But right now, the indignant feeling had turned into anger.
“Why should we? You put in so much effort into trying to get a reservation here. Let’s just have a good dinner.” You answered.
This felt like a huge breakthrough moment for you, even Matt felt it - you could do anything you had set your mind to.
You sat down with Matt in a corner of the restaurant, pretty sure that Matt had used one of his superpowers to get the both of you a great table and you turned your back on Amy, focusing all your energy and attention on the one person who was worth it.
Once the appetisers were served, you’d thrown Amy to the back of your mind, sinking into Matt’s company and enjoying the date night that both of you deserved.
It was just as the both of you had stepped out after paying the bill when someone grabbed your arm.
“Food’s great here, isn’t it?”
You blinked back in disbelief at Amy, who was smiling as if nothing had happened.
It would have been much better if you hadn’t met her in front of the restaurant earlier. Now, you were just wondering what the hell she was doing.
Matt didn’t say anything, just stood by your side and waited.
“What are you doing?” You asked, unable to hold it back any longer. There was a slight tremor in your voice that no one but Matt picked up on.
The saddest part was Amy used to be able to. Now, she just didn’t care.
That realization hit you hard but also allowed you to look her straight in the eye.
Frustratingly, Amy was staring at you as if she was confused by your question.
When you didn’t offer her any explanation, she swallowed and spoke, “Come on, Y/N. I told you I was on a budget. You’re my friend, I didn’t expect you to try and profit off my wedding.”
You glanced up at Matt just a little and he merely nodded in encouragement.
“Profit? Amy, you agreed to pay! You are literally the only person that has lowballed me for anything crochet related. I’m not even asking you to pay me for the prototypes or the materials used for it. Have you looked up the prices online? I’m profiting nothing.” You paused and looked her directly in the eye. “Look, I think this isn’t a good idea. “
“What are you saying? You don’t want to talk about it?” Amy asked, and you could hear the tone in her voice change slightly.
You sighed. “I’m saying I don’t think I can make anything for your wedding, or be your bridesmaid. I’ve said everything that needs to be said.”
“Y/N, you… What am I supposed to tell my family?”
You couldn’t hold back the chuckle that escaped your lips. You shouldn’t have expected anything else but the fact that she was more worried about having to explain what had happened to her family members who had always treated you as one of their own, spoke volumes.
“You can tell them what happened, Amy. Just remember that if anyone calls me, I’m telling the truth.”
Matt smiled and slung an arm around you, turning to lead you away before he paused.
He glanced back at Amy before he spoke, “She cared. She really cared and you threw it back in her face. She deserves someone who treats her as a friend.”
You tugged at Matt’s arm and Matt sighed before taking you away with him.
The journey home had been pretty silent and Matt only broke it as he closed the door behind the both of you and hung both your jackets by the door.
“You okay?”
You glanced up at him and nodded before you pulled back again and shrugged. “Kind of, you know? I’m upset but like it also feels lighter? If that makes sense.”
“It just has to make sense to you. The only thing important to me is how you are feeling right now.”
You stepped into Matt’s embrace and smiled against him.
“With you? Matthew Casey, I’m on top of the freaking world.”
Matt smiled, leaning back enough to take a look at you before pressing his lips gently to yours in a deep kiss.

Safe In Their Care
Summary: While on shift at the firehouse, a severe migraine hits you hard—accompanied by the dreaded aura and vomiting. Matt and Kelly know exactly how to help, offering support and reassurance when you need it most. Though you insist you’re fine, they refuse to let you push through the pain alone, guiding you through the worst of it and making sure you rest.
Warnings: mentions of vomiting, nausea, needles and injections
It started as a dull throb behind your eyes, a familiar feeling that you tried to ignore. You had learned to push through migraines on shift before—after all, being at the firehouse was no place to show weakness. But today, the pain crept in faster than usual, quickly escalating into something unbearable.
The flashing lights and the sounds of the firehouse faded into the background as your vision started to distort. It was a warning sign that you knew all too well: the aura. Your hands shook as you tried to keep your composure, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. Each throb in your skull felt like an electric pulse, and the nausea was a relentless wave that threatened to overwhelm you.
You staggered to the back of the station, hoping to escape to a quieter area. But as you walked, the world around you spun—spinning faster than you could control. Panic crept in as you fought to steady yourself, but it was a losing battle. You could feel the sweat on your skin, the tightness in your chest. Then came the dreaded sensation of vomiting—your stomach turning in knots before you finally doubled over.
“Y/N!” The voice that broke through the haze was Kelly’s, followed by the sound of Matt’s heavy boots pounding toward you.
You managed to look up just as they reached you, concern written across both of their faces. Kelly was the first to reach you, gently guiding you into a chair while Matt held your shoulders steady, trying to keep you from collapsing under the weight of the pain.
“Hey, hey,” Kelly said softly, his hand warm and steady on your back. “Breathe. We’ve got you.”
You blinked up at him, the world still swaying and your vision a blur, but you didn’t want to show how bad it was. “I’m fine, Kelly. It’ll pass. I just need a minute.”
Matt crouched down in front of you, his hands on your knees. He was more than familiar with migraines—he knew how they could escalate in an instant, how they could leave you feeling completely helpless. “Y/N,” Matt said gently, his voice firm yet comforting, “I know it’s tough, but we’re not letting you push through this alone. It’s not worth it.”
You shook your head, trying to argue, but the words fell short. The aura was still making everything feel out of focus, and the nausea continued to roll in waves. Your stomach churned with each passing second, and the dizziness made it impossible to think clearly. You took a deep breath, still unwilling to admit just how bad it had gotten.
Matt didn’t push back. He knew you hated when things got out of control, but he also knew the signs. He looked at Kelly, and the two of them exchanged a silent understanding. Kelly nodded, then turned back to you.
“Y/N, you need to take your sumatriptan,” Kelly said, his tone calm but insistent. “It’ll help. We’ll make it as easy as possible for you, but you have to take it now.”
You looked at the small injection in Matt’s hand, the familiar sting of the needle already making your body tense. You hated the idea of taking it, the vulnerability it made you feel, but deep down, you knew it was the only thing that would give you any relief. You gave a reluctant sigh, not wanting to admit how bad the pain really was.
“Fine,” you muttered, holding out your arm, not meeting either of their eyes. “Just… just get it over with.”
Matt’s expression softened as he prepared the needle, then gently administered it into your arm. The sting was sharp, but it was over quickly. He didn’t say anything at first—he just sat back and rubbed your shoulder, letting you adjust to the sudden wave of warmth that came with the medication.
“Thank you,” you whispered, your voice strained and hoarse from the vomiting. You hated that you needed the help, but it was a relief to know that Matt and Kelly were there, that they wouldn’t let you fall apart alone.
“Of course, Bug,” Kelly said, his voice soothing as he ran a hand through your hair. “We’re here. You just need to rest. It’s okay to take a break.”
Matt stood up slowly and gently helped you to your feet, his hand never leaving your back. “You’re not going back to work, Y/N. Not while you’re like this. Let’s get you to my office so you can rest.”
You tried to protest, tried to tell them you were fine, but your body wasn’t listening. The medication was kicking in, but it hadn’t fully taken hold yet, and the pain was still strong. Kelly and Matt didn’t give you the chance to argue. They guided you to Matt’s office, a quiet, dimly lit space away from the chaos of the firehouse. Kelly helped you settle into the worn-out couch, his touch gentle as he tucked a blanket around you.
“You’re going to rest, okay?” Matt said, sitting beside you. His eyes were soft with concern. “I’m going to stay right here with you. You don’t have to push through this on your own.”
You closed your eyes, trying to block out the world. “I’m fine,” you muttered again, but the words were weak, and you knew they weren’t true. You could feel the exhaustion creeping in, the relief slowly beginning to take hold.
Kelly smiled, his voice warm as he gently rubbed your back. “We know. Just close your eyes. We’ve got it from here.”
Matt pulled up a chair beside the couch, never taking his eyes off you, staying vigilant but calm as he kept a hand on your arm. The minutes passed slowly, but gradually, the world started to return to its usual clarity. The sharp pain in your skull began to dull, replaced by a softer ache. The nausea, too, began to subside.
“Better?” Matt asked quietly after some time, his voice full of that unspoken care you had come to rely on.
You nodded, your body feeling lighter, the worst of the migraine now behind you. “Yeah,” you whispered. “Much better.”
Kelly’s hand stayed resting on your shoulder, his touch still warm and comforting. “You just needed a little time, Bug. You don’t have to go through this alone.”
Matt smiled softly, his gaze steady on you. “You’re strong, but it’s okay to lean on us when it gets tough. We’ll always be here.”
As the pain receded and your body began to relax, you allowed yourself to sink into the softness of the couch, comforted by the presence of Matt and Kelly. The firehouse might be busy, chaotic, and loud, but in this small, quiet space, you knew you were safe. You weren’t alone. And for once, that was enough.
Guys I’m back kinda, I thought I’d share this - since I haven’t been all that active I’ve been back at work. Only a month to go! But I hope you all enjoy this and thank you for all of the continuous love on my other Chicago fire fics! 🫶🏻

Hi! Would you please write one with Matt/Kelly/Jay x reader where the reader is walking home or something and gets attacked. Roughed up a bit maybe a concussion and like a dislocated shoulder... but she manages to get away before anything too bad happens and just runs on instinct to 51. Kelly and Matt all worried and trying to comfort her but she’s in shock. Sylvie and Violet take care of her and take her to med. Jay meets them there. Maybe with worried brother-in-law Will and a Connor appearance?
Messed with the wrong one- Matt, Kelly, and Jay
Warnings: attack briefly described, vomiting, possibly wrong medical jargon
————————————
You have always been decently independent, which is something that your boys love and hate at the same time. You enjoy doing the grocery shopping and often find yourself walking the short distance to the small neighborhood market around the corner from your shared home. Today was no different.
It was late in the afternoon. The sun was just starting to set and you were happily enjoying watching the beautiful colors change in the sky. Jay was still at work, you having been able to leave early since you finished your paper work, but Jay still had a few files left to tidy up. Your errands could have waited, but you had the time now. So, while Matt, Kelly, and Jay were all still at work, you planned on getting a head start on dinner.
You were two blocks from the market when you felt four hands grab you and drag you into a nearby ally. All your training kicked in and you fought back as hard as you could. All you could think about was getting home to your boys. You kicked and punched, having to drag yourself off the ground twice. The second time you found yourself on the ground, your head also found purchase on a brick wall. You quickly shook it off and stood, laying one guy out and dodging the other, bolting down the ally and running as fast as you could. You didn’t dare look back.
Next thing you know, you are running through the bay doors of 51 and Kelly is snatching you up in his arms. You are violently shaking, blood tricking down your neck and face. You don’t respond when Kelly talks to you, given the fact that you can’t hear him over the ringing in your ears. You notice blurred figures run past you and out of the bay doors, others running out of the firehouse to see what the commotion is all about. Matt comes to your side, but you flinch and scream when he touches you.
“Shhh. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s just Matt.” Kelly whispers, rocking you back and forth in his arms. He isn’t sure you hear him, but you relax as you bury your face into his neck and breath in his familiar scent.
Matt doesn’t attempt to touch you again. Not yet anyways, but he thinks he understands why you screamed now. Your left arm is cradled between you and Kelly protectively, leading Matt to believe that your hurt. “Kelly. She’s hurt pretty bad.” Matt whispers, walking around you slowly to examine you with only his eyes.
Kelly nods. “I know. I know baby. Let’s sit down, yeah?” Kelly says, acknowledging Matt and guiding you to sit in his chair at the squad table.
Brett and Violet are standing at the ambo with the doors open. They are both assessing you from afar until Matt and Kelly can get you focused or give them permission to approach. Brett can tell you are slipping into shock, but she doesn’t want to make things worse, so she waits.
It doesn’t take long after Kelly gets you sitting down. His hands pushing your shoulders to lower you down has you screaming in pain. Matt steps aside and waves the medics over, allowing Kelly to keep a hold on you since he got to you first.
“Y/n? It’s Sylvie Brett. Can you hear me?” Brett asks, crouching down to find your tear filled eyes. When you nod, Brett smiles warmly at you. “Good. Good. Can you tell me what hurts?” Brett asks, not yet laying a hand on you.
You gently run your right hand over your collar bone and then touch the back of your head. When your hand comes away with blood, you start shaking harder and hyperventilating. You didn’t feel that.
“Hey. Hey. Baby. It’s okay.” Kelly soothes, taking your hands in his. He carefully wipes them off with a towel that Violet offers as Brett stands to examine your head wound.
“Pretty deep.” Brett comments. At this point, you have lost most of the color in your face and are sweating pretty heavily. Brett can tell, without checking your vitals, that the shock is fully setting in. “Kelly. Get her loaded up. Violet, run inside and tell Boden what’s going on then drive us to med. Matt, call med and have them set up a trauma room and have x ray and CT ready upon arrival.” Brett instructs, putting her feelings as your friend aside to get you help quickly.
Everyone jumps to their tasks. Kelly scoops you up and apologizes as you cry out in pain from the movement. Brett gets in the ambo and immediately pulls out some pain killers and an Iv tray for you. She hands Kelly a towel to keep pressure on your head wound as she hooks you up. You barely flinch as the Iv is stuck in your hand, but begin to calm slightly as the meds take over.
When you stop whimpering, Brett moves to check your chest. “Y/n. I gotta look, okay? No pressing. I promise. Just gotta make sure that everything is still relatively where it’s suppose to be.” Brett said, not wanting to scare you with the fact that your bone could potentially be out of your skin or at an alarming angle or something.
You nodded, leaning your head further into Kelly’s hold as Matt finally jumped in and the ambo began moving. You groaned as the movement caused nausea to spike as your head swam. “Mmmm.” You ground out, trying to breath through the nausea.
“What’s wrong hunny?” Brett asked, pulling back from looking at your collarbone, which seemed to be in place, to look at your face. You had gone pale once again, your face scrunched up as you shakily brought a hand to your mouth. “Okay. Hang on.” Brett said, pushing Kelly forward to lean over and grab a sick bag for you. Matt immediately took it and held it under your chin so that Brett could keep examining you.
“M-Matt.” You gasped, clutching onto his wrist when he came into view. It was like you were just processing that he was even around at all.
“Shhhh. I’m here baby. Kelly and I are here.” Matt soothed, using his free hand to wipe tears from your face. “We are almost to med. We gotcha now.” Matt murmured, hating to see the pain and fear in your eyes. He wanted nothing more than to find whoever did this to you and lay into them, but you were his first priority.
Matt’s thought process was cut short when you heaved, flying forward with a scream of pain at the end of it. Kelly stood, holding your forehead in one hand and the cloth to the back of your head with his other hand. Matt held the bag around your mouth, holding one of Kelly’s arms to stop from trying to steady you or put his hand in the wrong place and hurt you more instead o comforting you.
“Brett. You gotta do something.” Kelly said, trying not to burst into tears as you threw up, screaming when you had enough air. You were shaking violently again, the pain and the vomiting causing your body to go into overdrive.
“Kelly. I can’t. We are two minutes out. I gave her enough to take the edge off, but they gotta assess her before she gets anything else on board.” Brett tried to reason, wiping tears from her own face as she attached wires to you to check your vitals. “I’m so sorry Y/n. I’m so sorry. We are getting you to med.” Brett whispered, her heart aching as she watched her friend get sick and scream while her other friends desperately tried to help.
As soon as the ambo got to Med, Conner Rhoads, Maggie, and your brother in law, Will Halstead, were pulling open the doors. Will stood slightly away, knowing he couldn’t treat you, but he also couldn’t leave you and the boys until Jay got there. Luckily, Jay had been notified by Will when he found out, so he knew his brother would be there soon.
“What do we got?” Conner asked, helping Brett get the stretcher out of the ambo as Kelly kept up, one hand still holding the cloth to your head while the other held the bag Matt had to secure it under your chin as you gagged.
“Deep head lac and suspected broken collar bone. The vomiting started about 4 minutes ago. GCS 6, 140/97, pulse 120, O2 95 on room air.” Brett spout out. “Iv in the field. Left hand. Administered 5 of Morphine to take the edge off.” Brett said, getting your sheets in her hands.
“Okay.” Conner said, “On my count. 1, 2, 3.” Conner counted, then helped transfer you onto the hospital bed. You screamed out again as they moved you, then proceeded to pass out. “She’s out. Elevate her feet. Tip the bed.” Conner instructed, following your head down as you were moved. He checked your pupils and palpitated your collarbone while you were out. “I can feel some inflammation around her collar bone on the left side. Most likely broken, but still in place. She also has a minor concussion. I’m gonna have them do an xray and CT just to make sure on both.” Conner said, standing and looking at the monitor. “Maggie, put her on 5ML of oxygen. Her stats are dropping some. Probably from the pain. Let’s go ahead with another 15 of morphine and some Zofran too.” Conner said, typing it all up pretty quickly.
You began to stir as Kelly pushed some fly away back. Conner was quick to get to you, repositioning the bed to a more comfortable position and checked your head lac. Your eyes fluttered open just as Conner was stepping back.
“Welcome back.” Connor said with a smile. “Your gonna be okay. We need to run some tests, but I think that you’ll only need a few stitches and all you’ll need is a sling to stabilize that arm while your collar bone heals.” Conner supplied, smiling as he heard Matt, Kelly, and Will sigh in relief.
You nodded, then winced. “Hurts.” You whispered, throat raw from throwing up.
Conner nodded and moved aside for Maggie. “Mags is gonna give you more morphine and some Zofran. Sound good?” Conner asked, searching your face for confirmation. When you you gave a shaky thumbs up, he smiled. “Good, I’ll check back in a bit.” Just as Conner was leaving, Jay skidded to a stop as he came barreling through the door, almost hitting Conner in his haste to get to you.
“Baby girl.” Jay breathed, patting Conner on the shoulder and going around him to get to you. He was sweating, eyes wild as he searched your body for injuries, hands and bottom lip shaking.
“J-Jay.” You immediately sobbed out. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” You wailed, covering your face with your right hand.
Jay shook his head as he laid a hand on your leg. “Shhh. No baby. No. It’s okay. It’s not your fault sweet girl.” Jay soothed, rubbing your leg over the blanket. “We got them. Voight and Antonio have them. Your safe.” Jay soothed, smiling sadly at you.
“She was so smart and so brave. She ran straight into the bay doors of the fire house.” Kelly praised, kissing your forehead.
“You know your always safe with us.” Matt said, rubbing one of your feet over the blanket.
“I-I didn’t even think. I j-just ran.” You sniffed, wiping your face with the back of your arm. “I just thought a-about you guys. I-I needed to get h-home to you guys.” You murmured, tears streaking down your face again as the horrors of the event began to creep into your head.
“You’ll be home tonight sweet girl. Until then, we are here.” Jay soothed, moving forward as Maggie walked out, kissing your forehead gently. “You did so good Angel.”
“I’m home here with you guys. Wherever you are is home.” You whispered, finally relaxing as the drugs numbed the pain and the nausea. You were exhausted and you knew your boys would keep you safe, so you allowed your eyes to slip closed.

Matt Casey x Reader
Dating the Captain means squeezing in time whenever and wherever
Quickie at the firehouse? It's smut 🤷♀️
You loved Matt. He was an amazing boyfriend, treated you like you’d never been treated before. He was gorgeous and kind, brave and an amazing man. The only issue was the fact that considering he was the captain of the station house and you were the paramedic in charge that left the two of you scrambling some days trying to meet certain needs.
You were restocking your rig and trying to ignore the fact that Matt was outside with Kelly and a few of the other guys because you knew for a fact if you watched him go through half the training exercises they were showing the new guys, you were going to end up sticking your foot in your mouth so better to just stay your butt inside where it was safe.
Yield not to temptation and all that. As fate would have it, apparently temptation wanted to find you because your boyfriend decided to come walking past your rig about that time wearing a white shirt and fixing his pants. “Well damn captain if you needed help of any sorts with your pants you know I’m the woman for the job” you spoke and a grin split his face as he cut his eyes up at you “I know baby” you winked at him.
You leaned out to watch him walk through the bays and when he got to the door he tilted his head inside then walked in. You knew that meant he had a few minutes. You looked around then hopped out of the ambulance and slammed the door before heading inside.
_________________
Making it through a station house of nosey firemen was so much harder than it sounds and doesn’t it sound hard enough? The moment you managed to squeeze in the door of the captains quarters Matt had your back against the door and was kissing you, his mouth moving from yours to work across your jaw then down your neck as your hands went to the hem of his shirt trying to get it off of him.
He moved back long enough to slip his shirt off then went right back to your neck. Your head fell back against the door when he bit down on your pulse point. “Dammit Matt” you whispered and he grinned “C’mon sweetheart we gotta be quick before we get a call” you groaned and turned to pull him towards the cot, knowing he locked the door already.
His hands went down to unsnap your pants as the two of you stumbled your way across the room. “Grab a condom” you managed and he broke away from your lips long enough to fish one of the foil packs out of his desk. The two of you had long since figured out they came in handy for quicker clean up when a call could come in at any time.
You turned to push him down onto the cot and when he sat down you went to your knees in front of it. You reached to unzip his pants and his eyes widened “Baby” “Shh quiet Captain, someone may hear you” he watched as you pulled his half hard cock out of his pants and licked a solid line up it. His head fell back with a light moan of your name.
You cut your eyes up at him “I love you Matt” he smiled “I love you too” you lowered your mouth onto him, swirling your tongue around the head of his cock and listening to the sounds falling from his lips, god those sounds were heavenly.
“Baby..baby” he called twice before pulling you off of himself. You glared up at him for half a second before you realized he was rolling the condom onto himself. “Get up here” you grinned and pushed your pants and boots off onto the floor. Yeah fully naked sex was definitely not happening on duty but you were taking what you could get.
You climbed onto the cot and he positioned himself between your legs “I hate having to fuck you quick” he whispered before sliding into you. Your hands went to his shoulders, nails digging into the material of his shirt “Matt, I’ll take you however I can get you” you assured him as he gave a tentative roll of his hips and your answer was to spread your legs a little further to let him go a little deeper. His head fell forward into the bend of your neck, one of his hands gripping one of your thighs to hold your legs open as he sat a hard pace chasing that high for you both trying to beat the ever ticking clock of either a call coming in or someone realizing one or both of you were missing.
“Fuck, right there Matt” you whispered, rolling your bottom lip between your teeth in an effort to not moan loudly. He knew you were close so he caught your lips in a kiss swallowing your moans as his hands slipped between your bodies, rubbing tight circles onto your clit. You felt your orgasm hit and when your walls clenched down that brought him along with you. He bit down onto your neck to muffle his own moans as he spilled into the condom.
You both laid there for just a second trying to get your breathing back to normal before knowing you had to move. Matt stood up and pulled the condom off, cleaning himself then you up with tissues and tossing them before helping you redress. You put your hair back up in a bun and was checking your reflection when you noticed the aftermath of his kissing and the bite on your neck “Matthew Casey, you are a fucking vampire I swear”
He grinned and gave you a small smile “I love you” you shook your head “At least the captain of the house can help me get out of trouble for having a hickey” he nodded “That he can” you shook your head “You better be glad I love you and just know when we get home I am leaving hickies everywhere I can” he smirked “Sweetheart that is not the threat you act like it is”
About that time an alarm for a call rang out. You glared at him and pulled your hair down “I’ll have to just push it back with a headband and pray no one notices” he laughed as you stepped out of his quarters “If they do at least you know I’ll get the blame, not you”

You’d never have expected Matt to have such a dirty mind, let alone a dirty mouth. But when you riled him up. Whether it be by flirting with him in the common room or purposely pushing yourself up against him in the locker room, he could get to be quite the filthy talker.
And that was evidently proven when he dragged you into his office after having had enough of your teasing for one day, deciding it was high time he did some of his own just to see how you liked it. He drew the blinds, inciting heat deep in your core as he only ever did that when he intended for things to get steamy.
Pulling you close to him, Matt fell back into his chair, which rolled slightly across the floor and banged into the wall. You were quick to straddle his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck as you kissed him deeply. Passionately. Enough that he almost forgot what he brought you in here for.
“When we get home…” Matt whispered, digging his fingers deep into the fleshed of your clothed ass as you ground your hips down against him, making him twitch beneath his pants and almost lose his train of thought.
Again.
His eyelids fluttered, breath hitching in his throat as he tightened his hold on you, stopping you from doing it a second time otherwise he’d never be able to actually get his teasing words out.
“Fuck…” Matt groaned lightly, his hold not quite tight enough as you managed to get one more grind of your hips in before he pulled you closer to his chest, feeling the soft mounds of your breasts pressed against him. “When we get home, I’m gonna tear your clothes off and pound your pussy so hard you can’t see straight.”
“Why wait? Why not do it now?” You replied breathlessly. Like a dog in heat. Practically begging him to pin you down and fuck you as the mere heat that had formed between your legs at his words was unlike anything you’d ever felt before.
You didn’t know if you’d have been able to wait so long to feel him absolutely destroy you, and perhaps you shouldn’t have been so intent on teasing him as you could tell he was trying to play a dirty game. Luckily for you though, you were great at games and oftentimes you got exactly what you wanted.
“You want me to fuck you now?” Matt questioned, grazing his knuckles down your chest and feeling the hardness of your nipples poke through your bra. He carried on, every inch closer he got to your lower half making your legs tighten around his. “Want me to pin you down on my bunk and fuck that tight little pussy of yours?”
“I want you to fuck me, baby.” You whispered, the desperation slipping shamelessly through your lips.
Especially when his hand delved beneath the dark material of your pants, working their way under the already soaked material of your panties. He began to drag his fingers painfully slowly across you, feeling just how wet you were for him and finding pleasure in the soft whine you let out from his touch.
“Fuck, Matt…” You couldn’t help the gentle moan from escaping your throat at the way he teased you. Pushing his fingers into your pussy barely a centimetre before pulling back out, in the exact way he knew drove you crazy and left you craving more. “God, please fuck me… Let me feel that huge cock inside me.”
You knew he couldn’t resist it when you talked dirty. Especially in that tone. That heated, whining, desperation filled tone that could have him leaking under his boxers the second it left those soft lips of yours. The ones that were currently exploring his neck, your hot breath puffing out over his skin as he continued to tease you, rubbing his thumb over your clit just lightly enough that it couldn't give you exactly what you wanted just yet.
Which is what Matt wanted. He wanted you like this. Desperate. Craving more and the second a throaty gasp left your lips when he applied just a touch more pressure, he was on his feet and tossing you down onto his bunk before you could comprehend what was happening.
“Forget waiting.” Matt practically growled, pupils blown wide with lust as he freed you of your pants. “I’m gonna pound that sweet pussy now.”
You could tell by his face that he was serious. That you were in for a rough time and it only turned you on more. You watched as he grabbed your panties, almost ripping them off you in attempts to get you out of them. He bunched them up, shoving them into your mouth in best efforts to keep you somewhat quiet as he didn’t think the firehouse would appreciate hearing him destroy you.
You spread your legs as wide as you could, riddled with hunger as you did nothing but watch as he pulled his cock from his pants. It sprang up almost instantly, rock hard already and dripping from the tip. He gave it a few quick pumps, biting back a moan as he stared directly between your legs.
“You ready, baby?” He asked, stroking his length a few more times before positioning himself on top of you. You nodded, your hand running down his still clothed chest, fingers wrapping around his cock as you gave it a gentle tug towards you, a deep, rattling moan escaping his lips as you did.
The muffled cry that erupted through the panties in your mouth as he bottomed out in one quick motion was enough to get Matt going completely. The speed at which he moved was unlike anything you’d ever felt before, his hips slamming against your thighs as he made good on his word of pounding your pussy until you couldn’t see straight.
You already couldn't see straight and it hadn’t even been a minute yet. But you loved every damn second of it. The slight hint of pain only added to that intense pleasure coursing through your veins. Your lower abdomen was on fire, tightening faster than ever with each thrust of his cock, reaching deeper inside you than it ever had before and sending you to heights you never thought you’d reach.
You made a mental note to rile him up like this more often as when your orgasm hit, it was as though you’d ascended to heaven. Like you were floating from your body and for a good thirty seconds, you saw nothing but white as Matt carried you through it, prolonging it to the point where you had to tell him to stop before you became too overstimulated that it started to hurt.
Luckily though, it only took Matt two more deep thrusts to reach his own end, collapsing on top of you as though he’d just ran a marathon and then fought a blazing fire. You were both sweating, unable to breathe let alone speak but that didn’t stop him from kissing you, pushing your hair back from your face as his lips worked lightly, gently, against yours before he whispered, smugly.
“Same time next shift?”

Mine (m.c.)
Fandom/Characters: Chicago Fire - Matt Casey x Fem!Reader, Sylvie Brett, Stella Kidd, Kelly Severide, Blake Gallo, Wallace Boden, Christopher Herrmann, Joe Cruz, Darren Ritter
Word Count: 3.5k
Summary: You and Matt Casey had been secretly dating for a while, and it had gone smoothly since you worked at different firehouses. However, you were offered a job at 51 which despite seeming like a great idea, only made everything complicated.
Warnings: hurt/comfort, a bit of angst, a bunch of fluff, pet names, mention of anxiety, protective matt, kissing, happy ending
a/n: my first fic!!!!! (on tumblr that is lol) i used to write a lot on another platforms but haven't written for fun in forever (other than for school, ew lol.) so i might be a bit rusty so just yk excuse that until i get back into my flow :) anyways i hope you guys like it <3
For the last three years, you've been working as a paramedic at Firehouse 20 alongside Violet Mikami. During that time, you've come to know Blake Gallo as a result of his on-and-off relationship with her. Although he's a great guy, what made him even greater is the person he introduced you to about a year ago— your boyfriend, Captain Matthew Casey of Firehouse 51.
Where could you possibly start? His mesmerizing, smile and his charming personality drew you in in an instant. You never realized how the occasional encounters, transformed into intimate late-night conversations. And before you knew it, those late-night talks grew into romantic dinners and memorable dates.
After months of both of you dancing around one another, he finally masked up the courage to ask you to be his girlfriend. Without a moment's hesitation, you instantly said yes.
Six months have passed since then. Both of you had mutually decided to keep it private for some time in order to prevent any interference with your jobs. The only individuals who had known were your respective Chiefs, just in case something happened.
Your Chief also knew you could handle a busier station such as 51. So, he had just offered you the vacant paramedic position that was left after Foster left for Med School.
Initially, you were excited about the offer because it meant working with your boyfriend. However, now you're uncertain about accepting it as you're not sure how he’d react. While you believe he'd be as thrilled as you are, there's this nagging feeling that it would complicate things.
So you decided to call him.
"Hey Matt," You said once he picked up.
"Hi babe, everything okay? You rarely call me during shift." He replied, voice laced with concern.
"Yeah, yeah, everything's fine." You assure him before nervously adding, "It's just... I have something to run by you...”
"Go ahead sweetheart, what's up?"
"You know how Foster left and ever since then there's been an open paramedic spot at 51 for a while now?"
He hums encouraging you to continue.
"Well, my Chief spoke to Boden and they both agreed that I could fill that spot if I wanted to."
"That's fantastic news!" He said excitedly. "Do you want to?"
You sighed. "I do want to. I think it would be nice to work with you and the experience of working at a busier station? That would benefit me, by a lot. I’d be able to learn so much."
"Then what's there to run by me? This is your decision Y/N." Matt questioned.
"It's your house! I don't want to interfere with the little family you all have built and make things complicated considering we'd be working together while dating and what if they take it the wrong way thinking I only got the spot because I'm with you-"
"Hey! Y/N, sweetheart, breathe." He says cutting off your rambling, trying to calm you down.
"What?" you ask, voice exasperated.
"Baby, no one's going to think anything like that. You're an amazing paramedic and you earned your spot because you're good at your job. Also, no one knows that we're together so they won't suspect a thing. We don't even have to tell them yet if you don't want to.” He said reassuringly before continuing, “And you wouldn't be interfering with anything, I can assure you that we'd all love to have you at 51. This is completely your choice though, so whether you want to transfer over here or not, you have my full support, regardless of what you decide."
You smile at Matt's words. "Thank you." You pause for a moment before resuming happily, "Okay I'm going to go tell Chief that I'm accepting the position! I'll talk to you later Matt."
"That's my girl." He says smiling before hanging up.
You swiftly head to your Chief's office and let him know that you completed the transfer paperwork and are ready to begin at 51 as soon as possible. He nods, smiling, and assures you that he will push the request forward.
It was now Monday. Which also happened to be the same day you started your first shift as the new paramedic of Firehouse 51.
God were you nervous.
You had spoken to Matt multiple times and he continuously reassured you that you had no reason to feel anxious because everyone would adore you. So why were you still panicking?
Matt liked you, Gallo liked you, and so did Boden after the short interview you two had.
You had also heard a lot about each of them through Matt, and they all sounded like wonderful people. So the odds of your new coworkers welcoming you with open arms were pretty high.
Yet despite your best efforts, you couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety that was coursing through your veins, leaving you a nervous wreck.
You let out a sigh, trying to calm your nerves as you approached the Firehouse. You bumped into Gallo on the way which instantly relieved your worries. Seeing a familiar face put your mind at ease, melting your fears away, even if it’s only for a moment.
The two of you engaged in an easy conversation as you walked into the building together.
Upon entering, you spotted a table near the rigs with several individuals seated around it. Gallo eagerly ushered you towards them, quickly introducing everyone.
"Squad, this is Y/N Y/L/N, our new paramedic!" He said as you smiled, waving at them.
Gallo then pointed at a tan, blue-eyed man who was sitting at the head of the table. "That's Lieutenant Kelly Severide. Head of Squad and those are his Squad members."
He quickly got up and shook your hand. "Nice to meet you Y/L/N."
You recognized him now. He was Matt's best friend, they'd been through thick and thin together. It was sweet actually, finally getting to put a face to the name you've been hearing so much about.
Gallo took his time introducing you to the other members of Squad, all of whom greeted you with kindness and respect.
As he slipped into conversation with them, you took the opportunity to excuse yourself and find your partner, Sylvie Brett, who you’d be spending most of your time with.
She stood out easily, being one of only two women in the house. You spotted her in the kitchen, chatting with another girl who you figured must be Stella, Severide's girlfriend. Matt had spoken to you about how amazing they were as a couple, and it always made you happy to hear about them. With a deep breath, you made your way over to them.
"Hi!" You smiled. "I'm the new paramedic here working with... Sylvie Brett?" You ask unsurly, turning your head to glance at the blonde hoping you're right.
"Yes, that's me! Hi!" She answered enthusiastically, hugging you. Matt had mentioned how sweet she was but the embrace still caught you by surprise. Regardless, you hugged her back, accepting the kind gesture. Once you pulled away you waved at the other woman who smiled back at you, introducing herself as Stella Kidd.
After conversing with them for some time and getting to know one another, you headed off to the officer quarters with the hope of seeing your boyfriend.
Once you approached the office that was referred to Matt Casey, you knocked.
"Come in." You heard so you stepped inside, closing the door behind you.
"Hi baby," You said, smiling at him. He looked up from his desk, features softening as he noticed you.
"How's my favorite girl doing?" He asked standing up to give you a brief kiss on the cheek.
"I'm great! Everyone here is so nice and fun to talk to. They've all been so welcoming." You answered excitedly.
"See, I told you everyone would love you. What's there not to?" He asked rhetorically, making you smile as he placed his hands on your waist pulling you in closer. Matt's inability to keep his hands to himself never fails to make you laugh. It was all quickly forgotten though when he drew you in for a more passionate kiss when he noticed that there weren't any prying eyes on you.
As time passed, days turned into weeks, and before you knew it, you had seamlessly become a part of them. Each member of the group welcomed you with open arms, and it felt like you had found your place within the close-knit family they had formed at 51. It seemed like you had found a lasting bond and a sense of belonging with everyone there, envisioning a permanent future among them.
You became good friends with Sylvie and Stella, established a nice mentorship with Hermann, and created a sibling-like bond with Severide.
Most importantly though, to your knowledge, no one had suspected your relationship with Matt.
You wanted to say something, you really did. You didn't want him to think you were ashamed of being with him. But you didn't want the people you had grown so close to to think that you were only offered the position because of your relationship with him; even if you were confident that they weren't the type of people to believe that.
It was an ordinary day. You and Sylvie had just returned from responding to a call— nothing too serious, just tending to a man who had been cut by a broken mirror. Together with Sylvie, you bandaged him up and sent him to Med for stitches, wishing him a speedy recovery.
You were restocking the ambulance when Sylvie spoke up, "So, did you see the way that guy looked at you?"
You almost choked on your spit at her statement, not expecting it. "How did he look at me?"
"Oh c'mon- there were literally hearts in his eyes every time you spoke up while bandaging him!" She exclaimed a bit too loudly making you shush her.
"Who had hearts in his eyes?" Matt chimed in as he walked up to you and Brett, joining your conversation.
"No one," You say brushing him off but Sylvie interjects. "This guy we were helping earlier, he totally had the hots for our new paramedic over here." She said, nudging you with her arm in a teasing manner.
"Oh, did he?" Matt asked in a tone that sounded like he was joking but you could see the way his body tensed.
"It's whatever, nothing serious. It's not like I'm going to go on a date with him." You roll your eyes trying to dismiss the situation.
"You should!" Sylvie replies happily, "You're pretty and single. He wasn't bad on the eyes either, if you know what I mean. Go have some fun girl! Who knows, he could be the love of your life." She adds, winking.
Matt gave a half-hearted smile and walked away without acknowledging Brett, leaving her looking up in confusion. "What was that about?" She asked.
"No idea," You say shortly, despite knowing exactly what was going on.
Matthew Casey was jealous.
It was quite surprising because he had never shown signs of being the jealous type. In the past, if another man approached you in his presence, he would politely ask them to leave you alone, making it clear that you were already taken. Or he’d simply put his arm around you in a protective, not-so-friendly manner, letting everyone know that you were his. It never bothered you. You found it cute, actually.
But this? This was different. He had never acted this way, which concerned you.
After you were done restocking the ambo you made your way to his office, hoping to ease the tension.
You sighed as you knocked, hearing a quick come-in before stepping inside. You noticed he had his head buried in paperwork, not even acknowledging you as you came in.
"Matt, honey, what's wrong?" You asked, worried when he still didn't look up at you. You waited for a moment before continuing once he didn't reply, "Baby talk to me."
He sighs before finally looking into your eyes. His ocean blues never failed to make you weak in the knees. So intimidating but beautiful nevertheless.
"I don't want to keep this a secret any longer." He eventually replied, motioning between the two of you.
"I don't want to either but you know we can't."
"Why can't we?" He said, tone a bit sharp, causing you to flinch for a second.
"Because-" you were cut off by a knock on Matt's door making you straighten up.
"Sorry to interrupt, but there's someone here to see you Y/N." Said Severide as he poked his head into Casey's office letting you know before heading out.
You quickly glance at Matt sighing before leaving his office, silently apologizing. You hated leaving mid conversation but this could be important. You noticed him trailing behind you as you walked out but chose not to comment on it.
Once you were outside, you recognized him as the man you had sent to Med earlier. The same man who had 'the hots' for you apparently, according to Brett.
This was going to be a long conversation.
"Hello!" He said, way too ecstatic for someone who had just been discharged from a hospital.
"Hi there, how are you feeling?" You asked, keeping the conversation polite.
"Better thanks to you, you saved my life."
"Oh, you know, no big deal! Just doing my job."
"Well, I was hoping to take you out on a date as a way of saying thank you." He said with confidence, catching you off guard.
"I'm very flattered sir but you don't need to thank me, let alone take me out on a date. I'm happy to help, love what I do." You say, hoping that gets rid of him.
By now, you were fully aware that most of the members of the firehouse were watching the interaction occur from behind you. Hence why you were aiming to wrap it up as soon as possible.
"No, no, I insist. We'll have a great time together!" He pushes.
"Like I said, thanks for the offer but I'm going to have to decline. Feel better." You say, turning around.
Before you had a chance to walk away, he grabbed your wrist harshly. Pulling you backward, making you lose your balance, and almost causing you to fall.
"Woah woah woah-" "Back off!" You hear the men hurriedly interject pushing him away from you before Matt yells, in a tone that sends shivers down your spine. "Get your hands off of my paramedic before I call the authorities. You have no right to touch her, especially after she said no."
Boden hears the commotion and steps out of his office. "What's going on over here?"
"This man put his hands on Y/N after she rejected him Chief. He was just leaving though weren't, you?" Matt replies, glaring at the man making him quickly walk away.
The second that he was out of sight, everyone turned to you. Stella speaks up, "Are you okay?"
"Don't worry guys, I'm fine." You say looking around at all of them, reassuring them that you're okay. "Thanks for the help. I'm sure he won't be coming back any time soon, especially after the way Casey glared at him." You add chuckling, trying to lighten the tense atmosphere around you.
"You'd almost think you guys were dating with the way he attacked him to defend you," Severide commented casually, using a tone that sounded like he knew something. Which you decided to ignore for the time being.
At the mention of your boyfriend though, you looked up hoping to catch a glimpse of him but noticed he was nowhere to be found which alarmed you.
As the crowd dispersed and engaged in their own conversations, you discreetly slipped away and made your way to visit Matt in his quarters, marking this as your second visit there in the last half hour.
This time though, you didn't even bother knocking and simply walked in.
When he noticed it was you, he quickly stood up concerned, “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
“Oh, I'm alright. Don't worry, it was nothing I hadn't dealt with before in this line of duty, you know how men can be sometimes.” You answered, nonchalantly.
You both stayed quiet for a moment, not knowing what to say. Finally, you decided to break the silence, “I'm sorry, Matt. I don't want to argue with you, so if it'll make you happy, we can go tell them right now.”
He sighed, turning around in his chair to look at you, “Y/N, this isn't just up to me, we’re in this relationship together. We have to make decisions like these as a team. I love you and I want everyone to know that but if you're not taking this seriously and want to go on that date instead then-”
“No! This is serious to me Matt, I love you and you know that.” You cut him off before he's able to finish the sentence. “I have eyes for you and only you, no one else matters to me but you, Matthew Casey.” You add firmly, making sure he understands that.
“Then what’s the issue here?” He asks, tired of the constant back and forth you've been having today.
You sigh and sit down on the edge of his bed before replying, “I just- I've become so close to everyone here in the last few weeks and I don't want their opinion of me to change after they find out that you and I are together. I don't want them to think that I'm only here because of you.”
“Baby…” He says in a softer tone, getting out of his seat to come sit next to you.
You don't look at him once he's sat beside you, opting to look at the floor instead.
“Hey, look at me.” He gently says taking your hands in his, grabbing your attention.
You hum as you bring your eyes up to meet his.
When he's sure you're not going to look away, he starts speaking, “Listen to me, everyone here? They're the most amazing and supportive group of people you'll ever meet. They won't dare say anything of the sort because they'd be beyond happy for us. And if they slightly even think about it, I won't hesitate to go all ‘Captain’ on them.” He says, making you chuckle.
“Besides, I don't want idiots like that guy who can't take no for an answer, hurting you again for a nonexistent chance of taking you out.” He adds.
You lean forward, pressing your forehead against his, and after a moment passes, you mutter a simple, “Okay.”
“Okay?” Matt questions.
“Yeah, okay, let’s tell them.” You reply, nodding enthusiastically.
“I want everyone to know that this handsome man right here,” You say pointing at his chest with a teasing tone, “Is of the market and mine only.”
“Yeah?” He grins.
“Mhm,” You say with an even bigger smile, before leaning in to press your lips against his.
As your lips finally touch, a wave of stillness washes over you. It feels as though the entire world has come to a halt and all that exists is the shared connection between the two of you. At that moment, nothing else matters except for the feeling of his lips against yours.
His delicate hand caresses your face, making you smile into the kiss as you pull him in closer, wrapping your arms around his neck. There's no need to hide your love for each other anymore, allowing your affection for one another to be expressed freely without the fear of secrecy. The rush of emotion flowing through you is intoxicating and God, it is an exhilarating feeling, one that you had never felt before.
Before the kiss could progress any further, you heard cheering outside making you pull away. You glance out the window to understand what the fuss is about when you notice that the blinds were left open, meaning that all of 51 just saw you kissing Matt.
Your cheeks flush with warmth, causing you to bury your face in Matt's shoulder as he laughs at your reaction. He wraps his arm around you, pulling you closer in a tight embrace.
You look up at him, mouthing an ‘I love you,’
He whispers back, “I love you too.”
He quickly leans in for one more peck against your lips, before bracing himself for all the questions you're about to receive once you head outside.
“You guys were betting on us?” You asked amused, raising your eyebrows at the exchange of money happening right in front of your eyes.
“Well, what were we supposed to do!?” Cruz exclaimed defensively, earning a giggle from you.
“I mean, we all knew you guys were head over heels for each other, that was obvious. We just didn't realize you had been together prior to all of this.” Added Ritter, shrugging.
“I can speak for everyone though when I say that we are all very happy for you two.” Said Herrmann, making everyone nod in agreement.
As soon as the initial stage of shock died down, Stella and Sylvie rushed over to you, enveloping you in a group hug, requesting all the juicy details. While Kelly simply gave Matt a supportive pat on the back, smiling at his best friend.
Soon, the questions regarding your relationship began pouring in. Matt drew you closer, wrapping his arm around your waist as he answered each of them one by one. You rested your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes briefly, basking in the serenity.
And at last, you found yourself finally feeling at ease. Your family knew, and they were happy for you. Which is all you could ask for.

A/n: ohhhh my gooooood
Masterlist
Laying in bed with your boyfriend was the best part of your day. Always was. Especially when you just wanted to feel him around you in every way possible. Currently he had his arm under your neck, hand properly in your hair, just absentmindedly carding it through his fingers.
The opposite arm was resting on your hip, hand intertwined with yours as you let out a soft sigh. “You know what would look,” You started, pulling his hand just slightly up your side. Matt hummed faintly, glancing down at you regardless of the fact he couldn’t see your face. “Really good around my neck?”
For some reason just feeling Matt’s skin against yours had arousal bubbling in your abdomen, shifting just slightly to look up at him. His eyebrows were pulled together, eyes locked into yours. Gently you pulled at his fingers, the realization hitting on his face, “Oh-” In all honesty, he’d never even thought about choking.
Sure, he’d seen it done plenty of times in the porn he’d seen, but actually doing it? That was a different level. But as you nodded, dropping his hand and leaning over him to kiss him, he decided that he would do literally anything you wanted.
Not that that wasn’t already true. He’d find a way to walk on water if you had asked him to. But now, as your lips locked onto his, the roughness grew until he couldn’t stand being underneath you anymore.
Easily he flipped you onto your back, fingers trailing over your hips and up your sides. Matt slipped his hand under the loose shirt of his that you had on, “God you look so good in my clothes.” He muttered, leaving small marks from your jaw and down your neck that were certainly going to be there tomorrow.
That was his thing, he loved making sure everyone that worked with you knew that just because you were a bartender at a club didn’t mean you were free for them to grab at. You were taken and by a guy that would not hesitate to break someone’s face in for you.
“I think I look better without them,” You whispered in his ear, hearing the deep breath he sucked in. As smoothly as he could, he lifted the t-shirt, pulling it off and throwing it blindly to the side, face immediately going to your cleavage.
Now, you weren’t exactly cursed with a small chest and Matt would gladly live in the valley of your breasts if he could. One of his hands lifted, massaging one of them, his lips trailing underneath the other before they caught onto the nipple.
If he had the chance to get his mouth on you he took it and you adored every second of it. “Matt…” Your voice was breathy, back lifting into his touch as he softly sucked, a whine making its way through your lips.
Matt shifted himself between your legs, nudging them apart with his knee. Without much thinking you bucked your hips down, craving some sort of friction on your heat that only he could give you. And he did, moving his own down, the bulge under his sweatpants rubbing across you.
It wasn’t enough though, your hands snaking their way down, pulling him back against you with a press on his lower back. “You got yourself all worked up haven’t you?” Matt hummed, pulling away to get his own shirt off, a hand sliding over your shoulder.
He knew where you wanted him to touch you. And he could almost tell how badly but instead Matt pulled away, standing to kick his sweatpants off. You figured he’d come right back to you but instead, he grabbed your legs, pulling you to the edge of the bed.
A gasp slipped from your mouth as he leaned forward, kissing along your stomach before reaching your mouth again. “Now where did you want these?” He mumbled against your lips, ghosting his fingertips over every possible bit of open skin he could.
Down your sides, up your thighs, just barely touching your skin as he slid his palm up your stomach. Every ghost of a touch brought goosebumps to your body. “Matt please,” You pleaded, the only layers of clothing on either of you feeling like a tease all of its own.
“Please what princess? Touch you?” Matt’s eyebrow cocked up as he pulled your hips flush to the end of the mattress. “Cause I can touch you.” He just slowly pushed up, his barely covered length rubbing against the exact place you wanted, no, needed him.
You let out a whine, squirming slightly which did nothing but make him push you down by the waist. “Oh c’mon, you can take my teasing can’t you? You’re usually so good about it.” Matt dragged his palm down, gripping tightly at your upper thigh.
His thumb slid up the soaking piece of clothing you still had on, circling your clit just slightly before he pulled away. “Or are you feeling like a little slut tonight? I mean coming onto me about wanting my hand around your throat? Can’t get any worse than that.” Matt watched as your face twisted up, aching for anything more.
As soon as you tried to rock up against him he sighed, “I guess that answers that question, can barely use your words and you want me to believe you can take it tonight?” The cockiness that came out of him when he was horny was something nobody would ever believe.
This was Matt Casey, Lieutenant Matt Casey that was nothing but a leader and front man for his firefighters. But when he was with you? The nastiest words that came out of his mouth felt like they were getting spit right onto your cunt and he knew it.
God did he know how you got when he spoke to you the way he was. “I can.” You muttered, breath already heavy as you tried to control the way your body felt like it was burning. Matt tilted his head, lifting an eyebrow.
“What was that?” He leaned forward, knowing that him pressing against you was only working you up more but that’s exactly what he wanted. “You what?”
Thickly you swallowed, throbbing against him. “I can take it.” You reiterated, voice filled with desperation. “Please, Matt.” You bit at your lip, hands planted on the mattress next to you to keep from traveling down your own body.
Softly he hummed, fingers finally looping into the upper band of your underwear, just slightly pulling at them. “Oh you can?” Matt spoke, pulling the final layer off of you, hands instantly going right underneath the wetness.
You nodded instantly, his fingers inching closer to your entrance and it felt like if you had to wait any longer you’d explode. “Yes, yes I can, Matt just – fuck please.” Your pleading only did so much, the man obliging in the slightest as he let just his thumb land on the sweet spot you’d been dying for him to actually touch.
He barely moved it, painfully slowly encircling you. It was obvious from the look on your face that it wasn’t enough, that you wanted more and more but with Matt, the build up was what mattered the most.
“I could see how wet you are without even having to touch you, such a dirty girl,” He mumbled, leaning over you slightly, “Aren’t you?” His words were rhetorical, eyes moving down your body, soaking all of you in.
Matt sighed, slightly picking the pace up as he touched you, unsure how long he’d be able to hold off, his cock already aching and no doubt bright red as he worked you over. “Matt baby, please, I need you.”
Him touching you could only go so far, you wanted him deep and buried inside of you. “I’m not exactly done with you yet,” He was quick to respond, too busy enjoying the way you were practically squirming trying to get more friction.
That of course only made his other hand grip at your hip, tightly pushing it down, “Stay still or you won’t get anything that you want.” His threat pulled a whimper from you, fighting to stop your movements. “There you go, such a good slut for me, hm?” He hummed, rolling his thumb over you quicker as a slight reward.
Just as soon as he’d done that he fully pulled his hands away, instead shifting to kiss down your stomach, eyes up on your face as your breathing picked up. He knew how worked up you got with his mouth on you.
So it wasn’t that shocking that you felt his hot breath on your already aching skin followed by his tongue gliding through your slit. “Fuck–” Your breath caught, forcing your eyes shut to keep your body from lifting or even moving against the bed.
It wasn’t easy, each movement pushed you closer to breaking his one request. “Matt please,” You could barely focus on his movements, his tongue coming up to flick over your swollen and red bud. “I can’t–” A knot slowly built itself in your stomach, willing to be pushed over the edge.
But just like he knew what got to you, Matt always knew when you were close. So with one last kiss to your clit he stood again, the air now cold where his mouth had been. “I guess you’ve been good enough tonight,” He stated, slipping out of his boxers, finally letting himself free.
You couldn’t bite back the whine of desperation that grew as your eyes fell on his length. A smirk grew on his face as he stepped towards the end of the bed again. “Now, if I’m gonna give you what you want, you’re gonna give me what I want.” Matt trailed his fingers up you, cupping your cheek.
“Anything, just please fu–”
“Fuck you, I know baby, and I will, as long as you let everyone know who is fucking you.” He slid his hand from your face to the side of your neck, leaning down to kiss you. “Can you do that for me?” His voice was raspy, so filled with lust that you could have came untouched just hearing it in your ear.
Instantly you nodded, willing to agree to anything if it meant him in you. “Yes, yes, I can.” You didn’t have a chance to get anything else out, Matt slipping into you slowly, your head falling back.
A low groan built in Matt’s throat, having to still inside you to keep from busting right then and there. “God, you always feel so good around me.” He leaned his head down, just slightly rolling his hips forward.
“Matt–”
He shifted slightly, letting his hand splay on your chest, just inches from where you wanted it earlier, and where you still wanted it now. But of course he wasn’t going to give in that easily. And you could tell with each painstakingly slow thrust that he was going to take his time with this the same way as he did his teasing.
Your hands went up to his arm, squeezing, finding anyway to ground yourself to him that wasn’t in the way of pleasure forcing itself through your body. But his every touch made your skin burn, like it was all on fire.
You were a flame and he was the oxygen that kept it going. He didn’t seem to mind the way you let your other hand slide across your chest, just wanting to feel something more, anything. And your fingers trailing over your boobs did just that, a guttural moan escaping your mouth.
“Baby please go faster,” Your words were low but he heard them, just slightly building himself up, your legs hiking up around him. Each thrust felt like he was trying to get you over the edge but none did it, the feeling instead coercing through your veins.
His name was pulled out of you again, louder as his free hand lapped at your clit, slowly and in the opposite way his hips moved against yours. “You like that?” Matt looked down at you, twisting his fingers around you as he did. “When I touch you like this?” He cocked his eyebrow up.
“Y- yes, god so much.” Your words were mixed with moans as he sped up, unable to keep up the teasing thrusts, his own arousal building as he let out a heavy breath. “God, Matt, you’re–” You got cut off with a scream as he shifted, hitting that sweet spot right inside of you.
There was no way those living around you didn’t hear the way his name flew out of your mouth, hell, it’d be insane if they couldn’t hear the way your skin was slapping together. The slickness doing nothing but making it easier for him to slide in and out.
Just as you started to build up again, you looked up at Matt, grabbing his wrist. It wasn’t enough, you needed his hand. Matt wrapped it just enough around your throat, using the grasp to brace himself as he jutted forward harsher, your entire body shifting underneath him.
You gazed up at him, entire body overwhelmed as you grew closer and closer, “Tighter,” You moaned out, his name following as you felt his grip tighten just enough that you instantly clenched around him.
His name filled the room, moans mixing together with his as he worked you through it. “You just love when I have my hand around you, hm? Love being here for my own discretion?” Matt leaned forward, biting at your shoulder. “Being a dirty whore for me?”
You whimpered softly, nodding. How did you end up here? Casually saying that hey, your hand around my neck would be nice to him pumping into you so hard you knew you were going to be sore before the night was even over.
Not that you were complaining, every movement that he did made your heart race, one final squeeze of his hand officially sending you over the edge.
Every part of you shook, your heels digging into Matt’s lower back as you lifted slightly, being pushed back down as he continued into you.
There was no way he was one and doning you, no, he had plans now. And it was obvious from the way he didn’t stop, didn’t slow that he was sure he was going to get you through it more than once. More than twice. Maybe even more than three times.
And that just made your pussy ache more than it already was. You were already dripping and the whoreish sounds coming from both your body and mouth practically shoved Matt over the edge.
His voice was low as your name slipped like honey off of his lips, his face pressing to your skin as he fucked you through his own orgasm. His warmth filled you up and you didn’t even care that he hadn’t pulled out.
You didn’t care if this ended with you pregnant. All that mattered was how good everything felt. And god did it feel amazing. Matt’s thrusts only slightly slowed in an attempt to catch his breath, his hands still clamped onto you.
That’s the only reason you knew he wasn’t pulling out anytime soon. And that you were definitely in for at least a handful of more rounds.
“You feel so fucking good Matt Jesus—“ You groaned out loudly, face red as you reached up and put a hand on the back of his neck, pulling him into a kiss.
Your lips together always felt like someone set off fireworks and shoved you two together as they went off. Practically heaven on earth.
Plus when you were together at the same time? Matt was basically a fucking angel. Literally. He pulled back, pulling you up. “You still doing okay?” He whispered, making sure he wasn’t being too rough during all of this.
And he wasn’t. It was the perfect mixture of roughness that had you weak in the knees for him. And as you nodded he peppered an army of kisses over your face.
Gently he slid out of you, standing and holding out his hand to pull you to your feet. He was aware at how wobbly you were but in seconds you were pushed against the wall with his chest to your back, his arms wrapped around you tightly anyway.
His mouth left hot kisses over your shoulders, brushing your hair out of the way as he moved up to suck a mark onto your neck. “You’re so beautiful baby,” his words mumbled against your skin.
All you could do was hum, your body still sensitive as his hands caressed everywhere he could touch. “So, so beautiful.” Matt continued under his breath before pushing back into you.
A moan slid off his lips, reverberating on your skin as he trailed his hand back up your chest. “You have been doing…” a soft bite to the shoulder, “so good for me.” A firm thrust, his hand properly grabbing at your throat in time.
Your knees wobbled as you braced yourself to the wall, Matt’s thrusts almost bringing tears to your eyes. He relentlessly moved against you, holding onto you tightly, the exact way he knew you wanted.
Somehow the blonde was always, always so detail oriented. His fingers traced or touching exactly where they needed to, like he knew exactly what buttons to press to make you orgasm again and again.
Like how right now his grip was just tight enough that you were already building up a second time, the dopamine rushing through your veins. “Matt, Matt I’m already close I—“ Your word loud against the wall as his other hand snaked over your hips, holding you tautly to him.
“Go ahead princess,” He hummed, the breath on the back of your neck being the final nail as your knees buckled, vibrating against him as you fell into pieces under his touch.
Your eyes saw white as your orgasm crashed over you, forehead leaning onto the wall along with a string of profanities.
And he didn’t stop, face twisting up as he continued into you. “Matt-“
“You wanted this right? To cum oh so badly.” He hummed, the two of you ready for an incredibly long night that would have you aching for at least the next two days.

Thigh or Nothing
*Not my gif*
Pairing: Matt Casey x Reader
Requested: Yes
Prompt: Months after your breakup Matt loses his cool
Warnings: smut (18+), thigh riding, jealous!Matt, edging, swearing
A/N: Continuing to live in my happy world where all my boys are alive and still in Chicago 🫶
“I’m sorry, [Y/N]. We did all we could.” Connor broke the news to you and you could almost feel your heart breaking into two.
“Thanks Connor. I know you did.” You sighed, he gave you a sympathetic nod, picking three beer bottles up and heading back towards his table.
It was the cherry on top of your week. Which was without question the worst since you had become a paramedic 6 years prior. You shouldn’t have asked, you're not supposed to ask and how you felt right this second made the reason clear. Like your entire job was a waste. Which deep down obviously wasn’t true. The lives you saved had outweighed the lives lost, but that fact didn’t always matter. Not when you gave your blood, sweat, and tears to save a child who they would only end up losing on the table hours later. The less you knew of the outcome the better, you could at least pretend they all had a happy ending then. You were glad your partner hadn’t come out tonight. At least then she could live in the dark of the truth, one that you would never tell her. Swallowing the lump in your throat you gestured for Stella who was filling a glass with beer. She handed the beverage to a man at the other end of the bar making her way towards you.
“Can I get a shot? Surprise me, something strong.” You requested just as a body slid into the chair next to you. The only seat still available at the bar. Glancing to your left your stomach only tightened.
“Hey.” Your ex boyfriend gave you a genuine smile hanging his coat on the back of the stool.
“Well if it isn’t Matthew Casey.” The blonde to his left interrupted before you could answer. His attention quickly turned to a girl you recognized from the State Attorney’s office. How you didn’t realize she was sitting there before was beyond you. You had loathed her from the moment she tried to entice Matt into getting a drink when you were out of town after him and Severide had helped them with a case.
“Kaylee, hey how are you?” Matt greeted, and you could see the minute she turned her charm on, turning her body to face him, chest popping out slightly, eyelashes fluttering, and a soft smirk appearing on her lips. You would venture a guess that she had heard about your breakup somehow, not that she cared if he was in a relationship before. Stella appeared back in front of you.
“Yeah, make that two.” You sighed downing the tequila.
“[Y/N].” Stella warned glancing over to Matt and Kaylee who were now laughing. She was your best friend which meant she was also in charge of nixing your bad decisions when it was warranted.
“Just one more.” You looked at her pleading, she knew what a rough week it had been and you knew she was looking out for you but right now you didn’t care. She shook her head grabbing a bottle to fill the shot glass in front of you. “Thank you.” You nodded after feeling the burn down your throat a second time. You could feel Matt’s side eye and chose to ignore it for the better.
Thirty minutes later the shots were beginning to buzz in your bones only furthering your irritation when you watched Kaylee lean whispering into Matt’s ear.
“Hey.” A voice over your shoulder caused you to jump.
“What’s up?” You forced a smile at Severide. You and Severide had become close friends throughout the years mostly due to the grief of losing your partner and his best friend, sticking by each other’s sides through the thick of it, always having him nearby was a comfort.
“Just wanted to check in on you.” He sat down in the seat beside you that had been vacated 10 minutes ago. The one you were about to move to hoping it would lessen your ability of hearing Kaylee’s dare you say pathetic flirting.
“Yeah, I’m good!” You nodded, high pitched voice a little excessive. Were you coping super well? Not exactly. Trying to dissociate tragedies was supposed to come natural to you, just like everyone else in the firehouse and normally you could maybe, but Chicago seemed to implode this week and despite all your best efforts you were fighting a losing battle on almost all occasions. That’s the reason you asked Connor about the little boy from this morning expecting a good report and your spirits to be raised only to be shocked at the truth.
“Mhmm,” he raised an eyebrow glancing over your shoulder at his best friend’s back, “I’m sure that’s true.”
“It’s just like.. does he have to do it right here.” You rolled your eyes, whispering to Kelly, for no good reason since Matt was clearly so enthralled in conversation he wouldn’t have heard you anyway.
“Payback is a bitch, [Y/L/N].” Kelly chuckled, eliciting confusion to appear on your face.
“What does that even mean?” You tried to take a drink before realizing your glass had nothing but ice left, “Gallo,” you summed the dark haired man over holding your drink up.
“You know, [Y/N], I get off early tonight.” Gallo filled your glass wiggling his eyebrows which earned a laugh from Severide. Blake was cute, adorable actually. The kind of guy that would fall at a woman’s feet, make her wonder why she ever spent her life with any other loser. Not someone you wasted a quick hookup on, and right now that’s all you wanted.
“Yeah buddy, see how well that plays out for you.” Severide wore a smug grin, which annoyed you just because he was skilled at getting girls in bed with him didn’t mean he could make fun of the poor kid.
“Ritter gonna be out tonight? Cause I tend to get loud.” You lowered your voice head cocking to the side, a flirty grin appearing on your face, instantly causing redness to form around Blake’s cheeks as he slid the newly filled glass towards you.
“God knows that’s the truth.” Severide huffed, taking a drink of his beer, and your head whipped to him, a scowl appearing.
“Oh fuck you, I had to deal with your hookups on god knows what surfaces for practically a year straight so hush,” You shoved him, you and Matt hadn’t exactly lived together, but you might as well have. You stayed with him practically every night off and since Severide was his roommate he may have been unfortunate enough to be subjected to your pleasure induced sounds every once in a while. “And don’t act like you didn’t like it.” You teased.
Gallo coughed around the drink of water he had just taken, obviously taken back.
You had considered continuing the charade until you heard Kaylee ask Matt if his place was close. Stomach clenching at the words you moved quickly to take a drink, too quickly apparently as the drink ended up in Matt’s lap instead of in your mouth.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry!” Heat immediately surfaced on your face. You truly didn’t mean to knock your full glass into Matt’s lap. The adrenaline from your jealousy mixed with everything else that week had you completely flustered and the cup slipped right out of your hand, but you knew from the outside looking in it would never look that way.
You could hear Kaylee scoff, looking up to see her roll her eyes dramatically. “Matt I didn’t-“ You flushed taking a single napkin trying and failing to help the mess at all.
“[Y/N], it’s fine. I just..I’ll be back.” He waved you off, stepping towards the bathroom.
“That was convenient.” Kaylee commented harshly, taking a sip of her martini.
“Believe me you don’t want to go there tod-“ You began to stand up, but beside you Kelly squeezed your knee keeping you put.
“Hey, it's not worth it. Trust me.” He encouraged, prompting you to shut up. Was it a good idea to get into a cat fight with an attorney? Probably not, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t tempting.
“Yeah, thanks. I’m going to go check on Casey.” You patted him on the shoulder heading towards the bathroom, throwing the blonde a glare.
“Matt?” You knocked on the door as a warning before pushing it open. The hand dryer on the wall was loudly whirring as he stood underneath it, the handle pointed at his crotch as best as it could be.
“I’m not mad,” he started the minute you appeared in front of the door, “I know you’ve had a rough week and don’t like her and you have every right not to, but-“ at his words your jaw almost dropped to the ground cutting him off.
“You’re not actually implying I did that on purpose.” You scoffed in disbelief, he knew you better than that.
“What am I supposed to think? It was pretty convenient timing, and I watched you down two shots the moment she started talking to me.” He laid his line of thinking out, and it was fair. Did you love seeing Kaylee flirt with him? Not for a single second. Were you trying to get trashed tonight? Absolutely. But regardless you would never do that to him.
“Fuck you, Matt. We both know we do what we need to in order to get through some weeks and sometimes that includes alcohol.” You defended, your face was beginning to heat up in anger at the accusation escalating. Not to mention you were far from drunk.
“Does that include hooking up with your superiors?” He quipped, making your heart drop at the realization he knew what the last few months held for you after your split.
“How do you know about that?” Panic took hold of your chest. Nobody was supposed to know, it could be really bad for both of you if anyone had found out about you and Hawkins.
“I have my sources.” He blew you off, once again hitting the hand dryer on the wall aiming his other thigh at it now. You weren’t dumb you knew exactly who his sources were, and Stella was gonna get an ear full later. She should know full well that anything that goes into her boyfriend’s ears will undoubtedly be in his best friend’s soon after. You and Kelly might’ve been close but he had an obvious loyalty to his partner in crime, “I’m just saying I haven’t felt the need to cause drama anytime you’ve left with Evan or your pick of the night.” His voice was raised even as the dryer dwindled to a stop.
“So, you’re slut shaming me now then? Is that what we’re doing?” You crossed your arms against your chest getting defensive
“Oh, come on [Y/N]. You know I’d never do that. Have all the sex you want, with whoever you want. It’s none of my business. I’d just request that you don’t let your ego cockblock me next time I’m trying to do the same.” He bit back. You knew he was right. He would never actually slut shame you and the accusation was a low blow, but the alcohol was causing annoyance to course throughout your body. Only heightened the second you watched him lean closer to the attorney.
“My ego? Really?” You laughed, humorously.
“Yes, your ego. You were jealous. Go ahead and admit it,” he encouraged and you rolled your eyes refusing to do as he asked, “you think I like watching you leave here with guys wrapped around your finger? I don’t at all, but at least I can admit it.” He took a paper towel from the dispenser. You had no idea why he was furiously dabbing at the mess, it was pretty clear the wreckage was cleaned as much as it possibly could be.
“This is ridiculous.” You huffed, the conversation was going absolutely nowhere. On a normal everyday basis you and Matt had been pretty good at putting your breakup on the back burner. Having to work with each other wasn’t always easy, but you both were handling it well with dignity and respect. Tonight, on the other hand, was different. Tempers were beginning to flare, and filters were flying out the window. All you were trying to do was offer him a genuine apology, but all you were getting in return was underhanded comments. “The only thing I came in here to do was take responsibility and apologize for an accident. I don’t know what your problem is.” You did not foresee this turning into a fight when you got up.
“You are!” He exclaimed, jaw tightening.
“Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean?” Your emotions were beginning to boil. This made sense though. Your split was pretty amicable. Too afraid to say something and regret it later. Only having to face it every other day for the rest of your life, but maybe you were being too cautious. Maybe things needed to be said. Maybe mistakes needed to be made.
“You are,” he reiterated, stepping closer to you finally lowering his voice, “do you know how goddamn hard it’s been to see you leave here every week with a different guy? To hear that you’re fucking Hawkins when you’re all that’s still on my mind?” His voice was quivering and it took you a minute to adjust to the sudden change in tension. Surprised at his admission. You had never seen Matt like this. Even when you were together if someone had hit on you or overstepped their bounds he would kindly and calmly inform them that you were taken. Just as you would expect Matt Casey to. But this was something else. Months of built up jealousy, unable to do or say anything about it apparently taking a toll. His hand was gripping the sink so hard his knuckles were pure white, an anguished look in his eyes as he thought about it, and it was undeniably sexy. “I know that I have no right, but good lord, [Y/N]. It is slowly kill-“ You couldn’t even allow him to say another word. You were certain if you didn’t get your hands on him within the second you were going to burst into flames, gripping his face tightly, quickly molding his lips to yours. The rhythm was quick to find, familiarity not too far gone.
It didn't take Matt very long to take advantage of the kiss, pushing you back a few steps against the nearest wall, forcing his tongue into your mouth. Your hand found its way to the hair at the back of his neck threading your fingers through it. It was intense, fire quickly spreading through your body, slotting your hips against his leg, hips moving in desperation.
“Look at you, so fucking desperate. Like you haven’t been fucked right in months.” Matt’s hand rested on your ass encouraging the movement, lips moving down your neck.
It was true. Right after you and Matt had broken up you began frequenting bars, joining hookup apps, going home with a different guy multiple times a week. The problem was nobody matched up to him. There were some decent ones and some really sucky ones too, only concerned about how fast they could get there, skipping foreplay almost entirely, but no matter what without fail it always ended with you craving your ex. The only one to even slightly quench your thirst was your boss, Evan Hawkins so an occasional hookup may or may not have happened. What Matt clearly didn’t know is the agreement you two had, had recently come to an end after learning of a friend’s interest in the Chief. Leading to those hookups to become extinct over a month ago. So, whatever he was offering you were willing to take it without hesitation.
His teeth nipping at your collarbone only furthered your need allowing him to push you down harder on his leg. Leaning closer into him you took ahold of his hand that was gripping your hip trying to move it under your skirt.
“Uh uh uh,” He resisted, “it’s my thigh or nothing, baby.” He wore a cocky smirk, only growing the second you whined a quiet,
“Matt.” A defeated, pleading look appearing in your eyes. While his attitude was angering you slightly, only wanting to reach a high right this second, and you had no doubt his fingers could do exactly that, you couldn't deny how hot this was and how his ultimatum only furthered the wetness building between your legs.
“Show me how bad you need it, princess, but try not to be too loud there is an entire bar of our coworkers 50 feet away.” His thigh tightened as if he was wanting you to go against his warning, a strangled moan on the tip of your tongue, body getting as close to you as he possibly could so his smell engulfed you, a smell you missed having wrapped around you more than you thought.
You whimpered into his neck pushing your hips down harder, and you could feel him steadily growing against your hip. “You’re so beautiful you know that?” He complimented both hands moving to your ass encouraging you to speed up your movements, the friction from the denim winding a coil in your stomach. Your fingers clawed at his biceps looking for as much contact as possible. Head falling back against the wall, your eyes closing tightly, your breathing was starting to speed up shakily with every grind of your hips.
“Matt, I don’t know if I can. I don’t know if it’s enough.” You admitted, the knot growing but only torturing you as you continued to rut against his leg, needy whimpers spilling from your mouth.
“Yes, you can. I know you can. You want me so bad? Make a mess on me first. Be a good girl.” Matt encouraged flexing the muscle in his thigh once again, dragging his teeth down the side of your throat stopping to bite behind your ear, one hand coming up to tweak your hardened nipple over your top and you finally snapped, a breathless moan falling from your lips as Matt helped work you through your high.
“Good thing you already fucked up my pants earlier or else I’d be pretty concerned about the mess you're leaving behind right now. Your panties are going to be ruined.” He wasn’t kidding, there was absolutely zero doubt he would have evidence of this encounter on his thigh if you stepped off right now. He was however wrong about one thing.
“Not wearing any.” You shrugged, letting your leg fall shakily from Matt’s hip.
“For fucks sake.” He groaned pupils flashing even darker, roughly gripping the back of your neck and pulling your lips back to his for a sloppy kiss.
“Yours? It’s closer.” You mumbled into his neck after pulling away to get a breath, biting it playfully. Nodding he stepped back to pull his phone out of his pocket to reserve an Uber and unsurprisingly there was indeed a dark spot staining his jeans, but all you were focused on was the bulge to the right of it, mouth watering contemplating dropping to your knees right there, missing the weight of his cock on your tongue, when he grabbed your hand.
“We’ll go out the back.” He gave you a quick kiss, opening the door to check for anyone before sneaking through the kitchen out into the cold, a car pulling up to the curb just as you made it around the building.
The minute you were in the Uber your mouth was back on his.
“Sorry to interrupt but I’m gonna need an address confirmation before you suck all the air outta his lungs, honey.” A nice older woman, joked from the driver's seat. Blushing you mumbled an apology putting some space between you two. Matt chuckled in amusement, confirming the address on the screen.
“Probably get a lot of this, this time of night huh?” Matt began a conversation hand resting teasingly high on your thigh.
“Absolutely, but I don’t mind. It’s nice to see young people having fun. It’s cliche but you really do only live once and y’all are in your prime years. They go faster than you think. So, as long as everyone is being safe and aren’t actually doing anything disrespectful in my backseat I don’t mind.” She smiled, kindly. The conversation continued for the remaining 5 minutes until she pulled in front of Matt’s apartment building. “Have a good night you two. Be safe.” She winked. Giggling you got out thanking her, approving of Matt’s 5 star review and generous tip once you made it in the elevator. Your hand was clasped in his, thighs involuntarily rubbing together at the tension, having to behave with all your might thanks to the elderly couple who accompanied you.
As soon as the door to his apartment was closed and your shoes were discarded his mouth was back on yours, stealing your breath at the need he conveyed. Untucking your top from the skirt it was discarded on the hardwood, tapping your thighs you took the hint allowing him to wrap your legs around him walking you to his bedroom. It had been the first time you had been back in the apartment since the breakup. Heart aching as your mind flashbacked to Matt swallowing harshly, blinking back his tears, in an attempt to put on a strong front as you walked out.
Luckily, you were quickly teleported back to the present once your back hit his bed, allowing him to pull his shirt off in one movement.
You would never not stare, never could not stare at a shirtless Matt Casey. You had made it a point not to be near him in the locker room recently because it just was not a power you possessed. Not sure how it was a power anyone could possess as your eyes raked over his broad chest, his forearms and hands causing your hips to wiggle slightly. He didn’t let you gaze long though, bending to attack your bare chest. Hand moving between your thighs to learn you weren’t lying earlier, a groan escaping him at the finding. His lips laid kisses all over your breasts, fingers moving to trail down your slit hips immediately jumping.
“So needy.” His free hand squeezed your hip forcing it down, just as he pressed a finger in slowly you let out a deep sigh. It wasn’t enough, you needed more immediately.
“More..” You requested as he curled his finger just right putting more pressure against your waist when your pelvis fought to jerk forward. Obliging, he added a second finger increasing the speed. Your body was begging you to work for it, wanting to rock your hips down to ride his hand but his strong hold was preventing it. A groan fell from your lips the minute his thumb met your clit rubbing soft circles.
“You wanna come on my fingers?” He whispered in your ear, biting it softly. You were breathing heavily, quickly nodding your head yes in response. Your walls clenching when he crooked his fingers once again, so damn close, when he pulled away from you.
“Matt, what the fuck?” You whimpered, squirming under his lustful gaze.
“I don’t think you’re ready yet.” He brushed you off, but the glint in his eye proved how much he enjoyed this and it was clear you were in for a long night, leaning forward he pulled your last piece of clothing down your legs roughly tugging you towards the edge of the bed by your ankles, ending on his knees between your legs, and it was a sight to behold. One of your favorites if you were being honest. You were taken back at the lack of teasing the minute Matt shoved his mouth into your pussy, tongue darting out to lick your clit, a wail echoing from your lips, “You taste so damn good, forever my favorite meal, baby.” He praised nipping the sides of your thighs when his finger circled your entrance once again filling you. You directed all your focus towards keeping quiet as the knot grew tighter with every movement, hoping if you didn’t give him any sign of how close you were you could trick him into letting you come, hands twisted tight in the sheets when he sucked your clit finger curling to hit your sweet spot, but at the last second he pulled away, ripping you back from the brink once again.
“Fuck!” You huffed, hand punching the sheets, Matt chuckled above you,
“You’re so cute thinking I don’t know your body like the back of my hand.” And okay while this sucked, cocky Matt was intoxicating.
He edged you three more times and you were so wound up you feared the second he got in you, you would burst. You were physically panting, tears covering the sheets under your head.
“Matt-please. I’ll fucking call Hawkins right now.” You bargained, and despite the jealously that flashed deeper on his face he grinned smugly.
“You think threatening me right now is a good idea?” His eyebrow raised.
“I don’t know! I just need something, anything please.” Your thighs squeezed together begging for friction. Your eyes traveled down the man’s body, hardness in his jeans more than evident and you reached out towards him, missing the feeling of him in your hand, getting to watch his face scrunch in pleasure with just a flick of your wrist, but he caught your hand.
“Tonight’s about you baby, and making you wonder why you’d ever want someone else to put their dick in you.” He winked, his words actually surprised you. He was never this territorial over you, but it lit an even bigger fire inside of you. “Tell me what you want.” He ordered hands resting against the edge of the bed.
“You, right now. Anyway you’ll give it to me.” You wasted no time in answering, batting your eyelashes.
Smiling he finally pulled his jeans and boxers down allowing the bulge in his pants room breathe, tip red and dripping, moving to hover on top of you, he teased his cock through your wetness appreciating the way your cheeks flushed, his pupils dark not allowing you much time to drool, “Condom?” He asked, seemingly forgetting until this point not used to having to use them with you since you were on birth control, “I’m sure Severide has some.” You could see the hurt in his eyes from having to ask, and it made your heart ache in turn, but you shook your head,
“I’ve made everyone else wear one.” You explained, hooking your legs around his hips and his relief was obvious.
“Ready?” He leaned down to place a soft kiss on your forehead, a welcoming softness in a tension filled room.
“God, yes.” You wiggled your hips attempting to angle him in.
At the confirmation Matt thrusted deep into you pulling a gasp out of you at the roughness. You could vividly remember the first time Matt and you had sex. Gentle, intimate, loving after years of longing and avoiding the inevitable between you two. Completely different than right now. You wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow you found marks from the Captain’s fingers around your hips pulling you towards him feverishly, everytime his dick thrusted forward into you, and it was exactly what you needed. It took a whole two seconds for you to fill the room with moans, allowing him to manhandle you from the start. He maneuvered your legs from his hips to his shoulders enabling him to go deeper, screaming when he thrusted his hips the perfect way, “Matt-oh my god,“ your body was tightening embarrassingly fast.
“Yeah, baby?” He gritted, and you were extremely impressed at how well he was keeping his composure tonight.
“You’re so fucking good.” You complimented through ragged breaths, eyes tightly shutting at the growing pressure.
“Go and fuck whoever you want, but you’re always gonna end up back here, baby. Cause nobody can fuck this pussy better than me, huh? Tell me I’m right baby girl, you don’t come until you do.” He bargained, pulling out so just the tip was in you, slowing down his thrusts. You didn’t want to give in, to give him the satisfaction regardless of it being the truth, but based on how he was acting tonight you really believed if you didn’t confirm his suspicions he wouldn’t let you come, and you just might actually die if that was the case. Literally whining, tears springing to your eyes, your feet dug into his shoulders in an attempt to make him go deeper. So fucking close, your muscles hurt from the strain of being so tightly wound time and time again, “Sweetheart, I can come just like this right now if you want me to. Be like every other guy you’ve been with recently. Is that what you want?” His tone was dripping in arrogance and his shallow thrusts were successfully torturing you. How this side of him could be completely infuriating but completely erotic at the same time was beyond your comprehension at the moment. You had never been so distraught, allowing your pride to go out the window without a second thought.
“Matt-“ you felt the tears starting to run down your face, “please. It’s you- it’s yours. Need you, always need you. Please let me come.” Your breathing was ragged, hips doing their best to entice him closer, pull him in on their own accord.
“Good girl.” He praised leaning down to kiss the tears away softly, “you’re so damn pretty.” He smiled genuinely, studying your features.
“Fuck me, Captain.” You smirked, although enjoying the snippet of fluff. Laughing, Casey returned to his previous position.
“Remember you asked for it.” He teased throwing you a wink before flipping you over on your stomach, ramming into you harder this time. The bunch of nerves you had felt plenty of times tonight already quickly returning full force, Matt was finally starting to lose his cool, grunts falling from his lips.
“Fuck, [Y/N].” Looking over your shoulder you could see his eyes were between your legs intently watching where you two met, a sight you wish you had the ability to see.
“Matt-“ a broken sob fell from your lips, “so close.” You were attempting to move your hips with his but the brutal pace he had set was hard to match. He wrapped an arm around your waist pulling you up against his chest. Pressing the fingers from his right hand against your clit, rubbing soft circles.
“Go ahead, gorgeous.” He encouraged into your ear kissing the back of your neck, seconds later your body practically convulsed finally letting go, back arching off into his chest, a loud moan echoing in the room. Matt having to hold you up completely as you worked through your high. He followed soon after filling you with warmth every time his dick twitched. A feeling you missed more than you’d like to admit.
You lay in silence after collapsing on the mattress, legs shaking, Casey’s head dug into your neck trying to resurrect his breath, heart beating rapidly against your back. The intensity finally dwindling, causing an unwelcome sob to break out of you at the sudden change of environment. Matt’s head shot up at the sound.
“Hey hey hey, what’s wrong? I’m sorry, was it too much?” Matt’s body went rigid concern lighting his eyes, as he took your face between his hands.
“No, not at all. It was incredible. I’m sorry, I’m being ridiculous.” You tried to brush him off, a wet laugh coming out, attempting to get out from under him and off the bed.
“No, come here. Talk to me.” He repositioned you so you were now laying on top of him against his chest. Holding you tightly.
“It’s just…I’ve had the most terrible week. Truly awful and all I’ve wanted, all I’ve craved every single day was a Matthew Casey hug.” You sniffed, shaking your head embarrassingly. His arms tightened around you at your confession, dropping a kiss against your head, and the familiarity did exactly as you assumed it would, tension releasing from your body, relaxation taking over in its place.
“Baby, I’ll I’ve wanted to do this week is give you a hug. I’m right here. I’m always right here. No matter what, I’m yours, baby, and I will wait however long it takes for you to come back to me and realize that I’m the guy for you.” His hand was trailing soothingly up and down your back.
“I’m just scared, Matt.” You had never given him a true reason for leaving, claiming you just didn’t know if you felt right in a relationship at the time.
“Of what?” He asked.
“Having to watch you run into burning buildings has never been my favorite regardless of how good you look in bunker gear, but..after Otis it’s just been unbearable, and I just thought maybe if I broke it off it would get easier. It would just feel uneasy like with Kelly or Stella rather than crippling.” You explained, emotions getting the better of you as you thought back to losing Otis and having to watch Katie crumble.
Chloe had the same thoughts and luckily for Cruz she learned to accept it, but she also didn’t have to physically witness it. She didn’t have to worry every time Boden’s face ticked with concern when he didn’t like something. Didn’t have to count down the seconds waiting for him to reappear in the smoke when Boden pulled them. Didn’t have to beg your shaking hands to stay steady and focus on the patient when you heard an accidental pass alarm.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me this?” His voice was so calm, so full of sympathy.
“What were you gonna do, Matt?” He wasn’t going to stop being a firefighter and you’d never want him to.
“I don’t know.” He admitted, “Has it worked?” It was a question he didn’t want to ask, but one he needed an answer to.
“Far from it,” you shook your head swallowing more tears, “I don’t know if I’ll ever get over it, losing Otis, watching everyone fall apart maybe it’s something I need to talk to someone about, but regardless it’s just made me realize god forbid something did happen I’d be so pissed I didn’t spend everyday with you that I could. I love you with my entire being Matthew Casey, and I think it’s pretty clear that’ll never stop.” You finally looked up at him.
“This is the dick lust talking isn’t it?” He joked after a beat of silence allowing you to laugh, smacking him in the chest. “I promise I will do everything I can to always come out for you.” He tucked a piece of hair behind your ear closing his eyes to kiss you on the head.
“I think jealous Matt is my new favorite Matt.” You grinned eyes sparkling.
“Hawkins is just lucky his face is still intact.” He growled, only confirming your new opinion.
“I’m hungry.” You attempted to steer off the topic, accompanied by your stomach rumbling.
“We did put in quite a workout.” Matt joked kissing your cheek, “I can order some pizza let me just see if Severide is home.” He jumped up to put a pair of sweatpants on, throwing you a Chicago Fire sweatshirt of his basking in his scent overwhelming you.
“God bless him if he is.” You winced thinking back to his comment in the bar earlier. Throwing the piece of clothing on as Matt disappeared into the hallway.
Two minutes later the man in question appeared in your doorway, arms crossed against his chest, a cocky look on his face.
“You seriously need to learn these walls aren’t soundproof.” He quipped, forcing a blush on your cheeks.
“You know what? You had to have seen the trail of clothes when you got home you knew what you were getting into.” You defended, shrugging.
“I’m just kidding, I got home like two minutes ago. Figured I’d give you some time when neither of you happened to come back to the bar.” He laughed when you rolled your eyes, walking to sit on the bottom of the bed, “I’m sorry for telling him about Hawkins by the way. I was just trying to kick his ass into gear.”
“Alright, it’s ordered, 35 minutes.” Matt announced as he reappeared in the room, climbing back into his bed beside you pulling you into his side.
“Casey, your girl almost took down an attorney today. Who by the way wasn’t very happy when you never returned.”
It was a perfect end to a not so perfect week.

MATT CASEY MASTERLIST
Days like these were the worst.
It was bad enough you’d had to cover for people who weren’t pulling their own weight in the team. But of course, like they said, bad things came in threes. At least it was never just one thing.
Everything that seemed to go wrong, did. Then, there came the finger pointing, the backstabbing, and your boss’ yelling.
You were practically drained by the time the office was emptying out.
Yet, the universe didn’t seem to be ready to let you off for the day.
You’d passed a cafe on your way back, grabbing an ice cream on a whim, hoping that your mood would have improved by the time you saw Matt that evening. You weren’t crazy about ending the day on a less than happy note, and you hated making Matt feel down with you as well.
You’d just taken two steps down the street with the ice cream in your hand when a guy had rushed past, practically crashing into you.
The force sent you stumbling at least three steps backward, and you’d barely managed to stay upright but your ice cream had ended up top down on the street.
“Would you at least watch where you’re going!” The guy yelled.
On any other day you might have ignored him, but you’d had more than enough unreasonable people in your face for the day.
“You bumped into me.” You responded, keeping your voice as even as you could. “And that’s my ice cream you knocked out of my hand.”
The man glared at you, flashing a rude sign at you and muttering about how you were lucky he was in a rush before he continued his way down the street.
That only served to worsen your mood but you headed home anyway, feeling the fatigue of the day start to hit you.
You stood outside the door of the apartment you shared with Matt for just a minute. You weren’t sure if Matt was already home. He wasn’t on shift today but he’d been working on a construction project and hadn’t been sure of his timing.
Just in case, you steadied your emotions as best as you could before you opened the door.
Matt was indeed home, and he heard you the moment the door opened.
“Hey babe!” You heard his voice first, before he appeared before you, leaning in to give you a welcome home kiss. “You’re a little later than usual.”
You smiled back at Matt, feeling your emotions stabilize a little just by seeing him standing in front of you. “Yeah, I just took a little detour to pick up some things.”
Your words sounded lame as you heard them, but even so, you thought you’d handled it pretty well, considering.
Matt, however, seemed to pick up on everything. The look in your eyes, the tone in your voice, or the smile that didn’t fully reach your eyes.
Matt's brows furrowed, just a little. “Y/N?”
You weren’t sure what it was that caused the prick of tears. Maybe it was the soft tone of Matt’s voice, or just the fact that Matt was standing right in front of you.
“Yeah, I’m…” You couldn’t even finish your sentence before Matt pulled you into his arms, your face fitting snugly into his shoulder.
That was all it took before you were a mess, the frustrations of the day seeming to flow out with each tear that soaked into Matt’s shirt.
Matt didn’t ask you anything, merely holding you tight against him.
When your shoulders stopped shaking, Matt spoke, “We’ve got pasta and I can pop out the wine that Kelly brought the last time he was here.”
You smiled through the residual tears. “Sounds perfect.”
That’s how you and Matt ended up on the couch after the meal, the plates forgotten in the dishwasher as you cuddled into his side. The television was on, but you weren’t really paying attention, your head laying on Matt’s chest, close enough that you could hear the regular thump of his heart.
“You want to talk about it?” Matt asked quietly, adjusting the quilt he’d draped over you earlier.
You shrugged but told him anyway, starting to feel a little stupid about your mini meltdown.
“It’s not really a big deal, I don’t know why…”
“Hey.” Matt interrupted you. “If it's a big deal to you, it's a big deal."
You didn’t say anything, merely scooting closer.
Matt’s arm tightened around you. “But I’m glad you know I’m here. No matter what.”
That’s when it hit you, the realization of what had caused the onslaught of tears. The only place you could let go, be yourself and allow your emotions to take over was your safe place.
“Thank you Matt.” You whispered quietly, almost to yourself.
Matt pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. “I love you too.” He responded.
This was indeed your very own safe place - Matthew Casey.

When It’s Too Much
Paring: Matt Casey x Kelly Severide
Summary: just husband fluff I could imagine something like this happening after Otis’ death when Casey got grilled for safety at the mattress factory fire.
Kelly Severide stood at the entrance of their office, his eyes falling on Matt Casey, who was sitting in the corner, his hands moving rhythmically. Kelly’s chest tightened as he watched the familiar stimming motions. He knew that look, the tension in Matt’s shoulders, and the way he seemed lost in his own world.
“You’re overwhelmed, aren’t you?” Kelly asked gently, his voice soft.
Matt glanced up, his expression guarded. “No, I’m okay,” he said, his fingers still moving. “Just thinking.”
Kelly knew better. Without another word, he crossed the room, taking Matt’s hand and guiding him to the couch. He sat down next to him, pulling Matt into his arms and engulfing him in a deep pressure hug. “You don’t need to put up a front with me, Bug. It’s okay,” he whispered, his voice calm and steady.
Matt hesitated for a moment, but then he let himself relax into Kelly’s embrace, the weight of his husband’s arms around him providing an anchor. His hand reached up, finding Kelly’s necklace, the familiar cool metal between his fingers. Stimming with it, he felt a small sense of relief, the comfort of routine helping him settle.
Kelly held him tighter, rubbing soothing circles on his back. “Just breathe. I’ve got you.”
Matt’s eyes closed, his breathing beginning to sync with Kelly’s. The world felt less overwhelming when Kelly was there, grounding him. “You always know what I need,” Matt murmured, his voice barely audible.
Kelly smiled softly, pressing a kiss to Matt’s temple. “Of course I do. You don’t have to pretend with me.”
Matt nodded, continuing to stim with the necklace, finding comfort in Kelly’s presence. “Thank you,” he whispered, grateful for the support he knew he could always count on.
“Always, Bug,” Kelly replied. “I’m here for you, no matter what.”

Life Lines- Severide x Casey x reader
Summary: Multi-car pileups and morning sickness do not mix.
🚨Warnings: Illusion to people/ children dy!ng, possibly violent descriptions of vomiting, Needles mentioned. 🚨
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Calls with kids were always rough, but even worse since you found out you were pregnant. Right now, while you were pregnant at least, you are driving the truck and operating the aerial. You were to help ambo on any calls that did not impose a safety concern to you and the baby.
On this particular call, truck was called out to assist in a major car accident. Squad was tied down elsewhere, so you guys were it. Upon arrival, you all sucked in a huge breath.
“Holy shit.” Gallo muttered, staring right past your shoulder at the scene you were pulling the rig up to.
This was a multi-car pileup. Bodies were scattered around. Bystanders were helping wherever they could until help arrived, but you could tell some were a lost cause. As soon as you put the rig in park, the back cleared pretty quickly. Matt grabbed your arm from across the console.
“Hey.” Matt whispered, lightly rubbing a hand over your arm. “You can stay here or help ambo. No heavy lifting, okay?” Matt asked, slightly concerned with the paleness of your face.
You nodded, not daring to open your mouth. From your vantage point, you saw a small body in the street. As soon as you approached, your eyes landed on him and you knew that kid was in bad shape. It made you physically sick. You could tell he hadn’t been properly buckled, which means someone fucked up and that made you angry and sick all at the same time.
——————————————
Once the call was over, Matt decided that Mouch needed to drive back. The crew was extremely concerned by how pale you had gotten and Stella was in charge of keeping an eye on you on the ride back. Matt messaged Kelly, knowing that he was already back at the station, to give him a heads up and have him meet them on the app floor.
So, once Mouch had the rig still, Kelly was waiting for you to hop out of the rig and into his arms. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was for you to run past him and toward the bathrooms. He was quick on your heels, putting the situation together pretty quickly.
Once you were in one of the stalls, you immediately projectile vomited into the toilet. If it wasn’t for Kelly catching you around the waist and slowly guiding your ascent to the floor, you would have slammed onto your knees and possibly hit your belly on the way down.
“Oh baby.” Kelly exhaled, kneeling behind you and rubbing your back with the hand that wasn’t secured around your chest. “It’s okay. I’m here.”
Matt came barging in after you started heaving the second round into the toilet. “I knew something was up, God babe. I should have benched her.” Matt couldn’t fit in the stall and he was growing antsy as he stressed over your well being. He paced back and forth, rubbing the back of his neck as he pondered on what his next move should be. “You got her Kel?”
“Yeah.” Kelly said, lightly squeezing the back of your neck and holding you by the waist. “Can you get some water and a wash cloth? Maybe see if Brett is here and can get her some Zofran?”
“I’m on it. I’ll be right back sweetheart.” Matt called, running out the door and toward the ambo that was parked on the apparatus floor. He wasn’t sure if you could hear him, but it made him feel less like he was abandoning you when you needed him.
“Breathe baby girl. Just breathe.” Kelly murmured, rubbing your back slowly. He didn’t like the pallor of your face or the way you shook in his embrace. He wants nothing more than to have shielded you from this or to switch places with you.
You were sweating and very uncomfortable. The nausea was hitting you hard and in waves. You were still in the first trimester and the morning sickness had been killer, but this was insane. Your emotions were making this so much worse. You gasped around a heave, shaking and crying as your body fought to rid itself of everything in your system.
“Baby. I need you to try and calm down.” Kelly whispered. “It’s okay. Try to take some deep breaths for me. You can do it.” He coached, hoping to help calm you down some.
You nodded to show Kelly that you heard him. You were really trying and you were hoping that Matt would be back with that Zofran soon. Everything was spinning. You were vomiting less, but your stomach kept heaving. You held your forehead with one hand and clutched Kelly’s arm with the other. You were doing your best to ground yourself, but it was a slow, and almost hopeless, process.
Matt came back into the room as you started just dry heaving. He had a needle full of Zofran and an IV with a bag of fluids in the other. “Kelly.” Matt called, grabbing his attention for long enough to hand over the needle.
Kelly gave you the shot of Zofran, took the sick bag that Matt must of pulled out of his pocket and put it in your hand. Kelly guided you out of the stall and lifted you gently to sit you on the counter by the sink. Matt flushed the toilet before coming back to you and Kelly with the supplies from Brett in his arms. You had the sick bag under your chin and your forehead resting on Kelly’s shoulder. Every now and then, you would gag into the sick bag, causing your forehead to bump into Kelly’s collar bone, but he held you steady and comforted you through it.
“Sh Sh Sh. Breathe sweetheart.” Kelly whispered, kissing the crown of your head and rubbing your back. “It’s over. It’s okay.” Kelly turned his eyes to Matt in the mirror. Matt was chewing on his thumb nail and studying you. “What is it?” Kelly asked Matt, drawing Matt’s attention to him.
“There was this kid on the call.” Matt said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I think that’s what started this.”
You nodded into Kelly to confirm Matt’s suspicions. You were breathing a little slower now, practically melting into Kelly. You were exhausted and wanted nothing more than to go home and snuggle with your boys.
Kelly nodded and kissed your head again. Since Kelly was sure you were done, he offered you some water to rinse with and some mouth wash. Matt switcher places with Kelly then handed over the IV to let him get the line in, seeing as Matt was shaking from the adrenaline high he was coming down from and did not have steady hands at all. You have always been a hard stick to begin with, so Matt wanted to save you from the torture of him digging for a vein and just let Kelly do it.
You closed your eyes, turning your face into Matt’s neck while Kelly did his thing incase you opened your eyes. You knew you needed these fluids now, especially after that episode and with the shot you were given. You didn’t like it, but it had to be done. Plus, the faster you complied, the faster you could lay down.
After the IV was in and the fluids were started, Matt held the bag while Kelly helped you change out and get into some sweat pants. The boys led you to their office, which they now shared. They laid you down and Kelly set off to speak to Boden about the rest of shift.
Matt sat down next to your half asleep form, pushing the flyaways off of your face. “Better?” He whispered, looking you directly in the eyes.
You nodded and hummed your affirmation. You were exhausted. You were fighting to stay awake to see what the rest of the shift would bring.
Kelly walked back in a few minutes later and found Matt carding his fingers through your hair. “Hey. Chief said that he called subs in for all of us. We can go home after you finished the drip or stay and sleep.”
“It’ll be quieter at home.” Matt said, looking down at you again.
“I’m scared to sleep. I don’t want to see it.” You whispered, covering your face with your hands.
Matt sighed and started pulling your hands away from your face. “I know. We will be there though.” Matt soothed, rubbing your cheek with the pad of his thumb.
“Finish that and then we’ll go home. You and the baby need rest.” Kelly said, coming to sit next to you on the other side of the mattress. You nodded and reached for their hands, using them as your life lines.

Matt's Sunshine
Matt Casey x Severide Sister Reader (Nicknamed Sunshine)
When you and Matt make things exclusive its not long until Kelly finds out about you two then when you're hurt on the job it leads to a lot bigger revelations
Maybe it started as just attraction, just sex. You were absolutely gorgeous and amazing in bed. Matt had known it was wrong, even from the start. He was sleeping with his best friend's little sister. You were ten years younger than him but you knew what you wanted and for some reason it was him.
Facing Kelly and hearing him talk about you was difficult at times.Keeping a straight face when Kelly speculated who you were seeing was even worse. He hadn't realized he was falling for you until he was thinking about you throughout the day, his eyes catching anything with sunflowers on it he passed by in a store.
When he started dreaming about you when he was on shift and not even sexual dreams just you being with him, he knew he was gone for. Not only was he sleeping with his best friend's little sister, he was in love with you. The problem was you hadn't even made it exclusive between you and him and a part of him was worried to push it for fear of losing you. He'd rather have a part of you than none of you.
“Stay, just a little longer Sunshine. Please” you laughed as Matt reached for you, trying to drag you back into his bed. “Matt! You know the CFD cookout is today! I told Herrman I’d help set everything up” he huffed “Five more minutes?”
You shook your head “No sir because five minutes with you ends up with both of us naked and one of us on top of the other one” “We don’t just have sex” he replied, his face scrunched up to the point it was nothing shy of adorable. “I know baby” you soothed, sitting on the side of the bed to place a kiss on his lips. His hands came out to slip under your shirt. He wasn’t trying to take it back off of you or anything he was simply letting his fingers wander across your flesh “So I at least get to spend the day with you?”
You laughed “Yeah in a way. You get to spend the day not touching me or acting like you were wrapped around me last night” he groaned “Don’t remind me. By the way, what are you wearing today?” you grinned “Why, already jealous Casey?” he raised an eyebrow and you laughed “Don’t worry honey. Most other guys go the opposite way when they realize I am Kelly Severide’s little sister. My brother has kind of a reputation”
“Most?” he asked and you shook your head “Matthew it’s kind of cute when you’re jealous” you pressed a kiss to his lips then pulled away, a grin slipping to your face when he followed your lips. “But I really have got to get going” “Fine, I’ll see you at the cookout babygirl”
_________________________
You decided on cut off jeans, your Nikes and one of Kelly’s old CFD shirts that read SEVERIDE across it. Seemed suiting enough. Stella had braided your hair back for you like she had hers so you wouldn’t have to fight with it all day. You cut your eyes over to where Kelly and Matt were sitting booths up and had to resist the urge to stare at Matt. “So, how's things with the little boyfriend?” Stella asked and you felt your face warm “For the hundredth time Stel I don’t have a boyfriend” “Uh huh” she replied with a laugh before passing you the stacks of cups in her hand “And I don’t have a husband either. I’ll figure it out eventually. I don’t see the big deal about me and Kelly knowing! He must really like you, that bracelet is pretty and suits you so well”
Your fingers found the bracelet, a smile working its way onto your face and she laughed “See? That right there makes me like him already. You look so happy whenever you think about him. I can handle Kelly if that’s the issue here” you shook your head “It’s not that it’s just..” you were cut off by Kelly calling your name and she groaned then hollered “BAD TIMING BABY!”
You laughed and nodded towards him “I’m gonna go see what he wants” she sighed “Fine but I’m going to keep at it until either I figure it out or you tell me” you shook your head “Firefighter and detective. Multitasker aren’t ya?”
You walked over to Kelly and he threw an arm around your shoulders “Sunshine, tell Casey that the new chic in billing at Med has a thing for him” “Willa?” you asked and he nodded “Yeah, you saw how she was looking at him the other day at Mollys” yeah you had actually. It’d taken every damn thing in your power to not break her jaw considering your job. Matt cut his eyes up at you and held yours for just a second before you shrugged “Yeah, she was eyeing the hell out of him”
“See? Even Sunshine clocked it!” Kelly laughed so you motioned in the vague direction of Stella “Can I go back to my sister in law now and get away from whatever you two have going on?” “Yeah, sorry sweetheart” he laughed and pressed a kiss to the side of your head before you turned and headed back towards Stella and was relieved to see Kiara, Eliza and Kim with her. Maybe she’d lay off the questioning, either way you wouldn’t have to listen to Matt and Kelly talk about the gorgeous chic that was indeed eyeing Matt the other night. He hadn’t made this exclusive, what if he started seeing someone else?
___________________________
Matt was watching you walk around with Kiara and Eliza. Stella had drifted off with Kelly and Kim with Adam. He hoped you hadn’t taken Kelly mentioning Willa to heart. He could’ve given a damn less who was eyeing him. He knew who the hell he wanted and it was the woman currently squatting down in front of one of the kids running around the park, helping them tie their shoes.
He’d been solely interested in you since the moment Kelly introduced you. Right or wrong. He only wanted you. He was in love with you, no other woman mattered to him. He watched you as you straightened up and ran a hand over the little boy’s hair and smiled at him, even from a distance he could see the blush darken the kid’s face. Couldn’t exactly blame him.
The kid ran off and you laughed at something Kiara said then he saw you look to your side and a smile slipped onto your face when Kevin Atwater walked up to you. He tried to tell himself it was normal. You and Kiara had been working closely with intelligence the last few weeks, hell you and Jay solely referred to each other as Officer Sunshine and Detective Chuckles.
However when Kevin leaned down to whisper something in your ear and he saw you shove Kevin’s chest playfully he felt anger roll through him. Oh hell no. Kevin Atwater was flirting with his girl in his face. Wait, that wasn’t fair. He hadn’t exactly put a foot forward to try to make this exclusive, had he? He watched for a moment then pulled his phone out and sent you a text, watching you hold a hand up to Kevin before you pulled your phone out.
You were laughing at Kevin teasing you over the bulldog Adam had been afraid of and that you ended up playing with for the better part of half an hour before Voight made you get back to work when your phone chimed. “Hold on Kev” you told him and pulled your phone out to see Matt’s initials and the text read Babygirl we need to talk. Tonight
You looked around and spotted him talking to Platt and Mouch but knew his attention was also on you so you texted back I’ll be at your place around 8
______________________
The moment you knocked on Matt’s door he opened the door and pulled you into his arms, his lips crashing onto yours. You laughed into the kiss, hands slipping up around his neck in an attempt to pull him closer. He broke the kiss after a moment, both of your chests heaving slightly and you grinned up at him “Not that I’m complaining but what was that about?”
He brought one hand up to play with the pieces of hair that had found their way loose from your braid “This thing, between us. It’s important to me. It’s not just sleeping with you. Um it’s exclusive to me..it is for you too?” oh that’s what this was. You grinned “I’m not interested in anything but you Matthew” and he smiled before scooping you up into his arms “Thank god” and turned to walk towards his bedroom.
Matt walked into shift the following day and probably had never been in a brighter mood. You’d been in his arms for hours the night before and he’d woken up to have coffee and breakfast with you which was a rare thing considering one or both of you normally slept through alarms and it resulted in rushing around to get ready.
The moment he walked into the bays Kelly cut his eyes up “What the hell has you in such a good mood?” he shrugged “Found a reason to be happy man” and kept walking inside. He noticed Stella fall in step with him but didn’t think anything of it until he made it inside and headed for the coffee machine. He reached for a mug and cut his eyes back to ask if she wanted a cup. She nodded and he poured her one too.
She took it then eyed him for a second. “What is it Kidd?” he asked and she shook her head “Sun cutting through your storm clouds there Casey?” and he nearly choked on his coffee. She grinned “Nice taste with the bracelet by the way” his eyes widened and she winked at him “I’m not saying anything Sunshine is a grown woman but she is his sister and you are his best friend. You two need to tell him before he finds out on his own”
He nodded and she tapped his shoulder “Nice to see you happy though” and walked off. He pulled his phone out and texted you a two word message Stella knows
______________________
You weren’t nervous per say walking into the loft but you knew if Kelly wasn’t home Stella would be on you and oh god what if she’d told him? You walked in and they were watching tv. Kelly cut his eyes up “There’s some food left for you” you smiled “Thank you”
Stella kissed his cheek “I’m gonna help her” he nodded “Ok baby” she stood and followed you. The moment you were at the stove she eyed you and mouthed “Matt?” you shrugged and she shook her head then opened some wine and offered you a glass before leaning in to whisper “I’m not telling him but you need to” and then headed to sit back down next to Kelly, leaving you to eat at the island and think about what your next step needed to be.
Kelly tried your phone for the sixth time. You still didn’t answer. Fuck, enough of this. Stella would say he was overreacting but Matt would help him hunt you down. He hopped in his truck and headed across town to Matt’s apartment.
He parked in front of the building and headed up. He tried your phone twice more in the elevator and you still didn’t answer. He shook his head as the elevator got to Matt’s floor. He walked off and headed for the familiar apartment and knocked. He heard footsteps that sounded too light then the door opened and he was met with you. Hair down, looking like you’d just rolled out of bed and wearing nothing but one of Matt’s shirts.
“Kelly” you breathed as you both stared at each other. “Babygirl is that the food?” he heard Matt right as the other man walked into the room, wearing just a pair of sweatpants and paled when he saw him standing there “Oh shit” “Babygirl? You son of a bitch!” he made a move towards Matt but you slid to put both hands on his chest “Kel don’t!”
He looked down at you, his little sister. His ten year younger sister, wearing his best friend’s shirt and nothing else. Everything started to click into place. Matt was the mystery guy. All this damn time. “Go get your clothes sunshine” he spoke, voice low in an attempt to not yell at you.
_______________________
You hadn’t seen Kelly like this the entire time you’d known him. You’d heard about his temper but this was the first time you’d seen it. “Now or I might kill your boyfriend” he added, eyes boring into Matt. You nodded and moved to head towards the bedroom, Matt reached out for your hand and Kelly’s voice was deadly calm when he said “If you touch my sister I’m going to break your fucking arm”
Matt took a step back, both hands up. You cut your eyes up at him and swallowed hard. So much you wanted to say to him and couldn’t. You dropped your eyes and hurried to the bedroom. You desperately didn’t want Kelly to hurt him.
You had never once gotten dressed as fast as you did in that instance. When you came back out Kelly was still standing just inside the door and Matt was rooted to the spot. You didn’t even look at him as you crossed the floor to Kelly who reached for your arm “Let’s go”
_______________________
As soon as you got downstairs you snatched your arm away from Kelly and stormed to his truck “Sunshine” he tried and you shook your head as you slammed the door of his truck. He climbed into the driver’s seat and cut his eyes at you “Just talk to me”
“Just drive us home” you replied and he sighed then pulled out onto the road.
______________________
The moment you flew through the door of the loft Stella spun around with her eyes wide and looked from you to Kelly “What happened?” you dropped your gaze, tears filling your eyes. You’f just lost the man you loved and you were fairly certain you lost your big brother’s love as well. You shook your head and damn near ran to your room, closing the door behind yourself before sliding down it to the floor.
You sent Matt a text that simply read I’m sorry then threw your phone up onto the bed as tears started in earnest.
____________________
“What the actual hell did you do?” Stella asked Kelly, anger in her eyes. He waved a hand towards your room “Matt! She’s been sleeping with Matt” “Ok? She’s grown Kelly!” Stella argued and he sank down onto one of the stools “She’s my little sister. What if she’s a rebound from Gabby? What if he hurts her?”
She walked over to him, putting her hands on his shoulders “I get it, I do but do you want to risk losing her over being over protective? Be there waiting to put her back together if she breaks but allow her to live her life”
“I can’t lose her Stel” he whispered and she nodded “I know Kelly but try talking to her because right now, she’s hurting and probably feeling really alone” he nodded and stood up, walking through the loft to your door. He knocked and when he heard you sniffle it broke his heart “Go away Kel, please” “Sunshine open the door” he pleaded and after a moment the door cracked open and there were you looking up at him, eyes filled with tears “There, see? I’m here and haven't snuck out the window like the teenager you think I am. Who knows maybe Matt will go find Willa now and forget about me? Bet you’d love that” then closed the door in his face.
“I’m sorry” he spoke low, knowing you heard him and knowing it wasn’t enough. “I love you Sunshine” he added before walking away from your door. He barely caught the reply of “Love you Kel” through the sniffles.
I’m sorry how many times had Matt read those two words over the last couple days? He tried to call you, text you. No response. He had a shift today with Kelly and Stella, of course. He had to face them. He didn’t know what to say. Kelly hated him, he’d lost you. What was there left for him?
When he headed into work he spotted Kelly sitting in his recliner with Stella sitting on the arm of it and swallowed hard as he walked past it. He wanted to tell Kelly the truth, you weren’t some damn fling. He was in love with you. You were the most important person on the face of the earth in his eyes but now didn’t seem like the time. “Casey” Kelly greeted and he nodded “Severide”
Stella rolled her eyes “Hey Matt” and turned her eyes back to the book she was reading. At least one member of the Severide household didn’t hate his guts.
___________________
You stared at the numerous texts from Matt ranging from pleas to answer your phone just to him saying he missed you. How were you supposed to talk to him? Kelly was his best friend, they’d known each other for so long and now because of you Kelly wanted to kill him.
Kiara bumped your leg “Put the phone away babe. Voight wants us all to round up for a pre-raid plan” you nodded and followed her into the group around Jay’s truck. Once everyone was told where to go you got into position backing Kim and Kevin. You cut your eyes at Kiara as Hank gave the order “Take it” across the coms and the door of the warehouse was kicked in “CHICAGO PD”
___________________
Matt was trying to avoid Kelly but the other man managed to corner him in the common area “How long have you been fucking my sister?” “Kelly we aren’t doing this here” he tried but damn that temper his best friend carried. “Why not? I want to know because all this time she’s been saying she was staying with friends or whatever but you were fucking here yet not taking her out, not actually dating her” “Look at the way you’re acting” Matt replied and Kelly took a step towards him “Oh so you being a piece of shit and treating my sister like just a fuck is my fault?”
Everyone was giving the two of them a wide berth except for Herrman who’d called for Stella. She came sliding in just as Matt shook his head “Fuck you for talking about her like that Kelly” she saw the moment Kelly got mad enough to swing and grabbed his arm “Don’t” he stared at her for a moment the a call rang out Officer down. Corner of Gwendlyn and Andrews
“Severide!” Boden called out, his phone to his ear as the three of them heard your stats called out.“No no no” Kelly muttered. Stella was the first to snap out of it “I’m going with Brett” she told Boden who nodded “GO” the two women ran to the bays as Boden walked out to Kelly “Son, we need to get to Med”
“Is she dead?” Kelly asked. His little sister, his bright eyed, sarcastic, energetic, beautiful little sister. “No but Voight said it’s serious. She caught two rounds to her lower abdomen. She’s lost a lot of blood Kelly” he nodded slowly, his entire body felt like it was moving too slow. He couldn’t think. What the hell was he supposed to do? You’d barely talked to him since everything happened at Matt’s. You’d told Stella you were afraid he hated you. If something happened to you. Boden’s hand on his shoulder snapped him to reality “Come on Kelly. I’ll drive you” he nodded, following the other man out to his truck. What was he supposed to do if he lost you?
Matt walked Kelly walk out with Boden and it took everything to not crumple to his knees. His Sunshine. He’d never even gotten a chance to tell you he loved you. “Matt” Herrman’s voice was soft when his hand touched Matt’s shoulder “Come on Casey, I’ll drive ya to Med and stay till you find something out” he nodded numbly. He couldn’t lose you. Not you.
The waiting room at Chicago Med was filled with members of the twenty first and fifty one. You were in surgery. Kelly hadn’t even registered to be pissed at Matt. The two were on opposite sides of the waiting room. Kiara sat next to Matt while Stella sat with Kelly, her eyes alone told everyone how bad it was.
______________________
After what felt like hours Will Halstead finally came out. Kelly and Stella were on their feet. They were your family. “She’s awake. Nothing major was hit, while she’ll be out of commission for a couple weeks she’s gonna be ok” Will announced and the waiting room erupted into cheers.
“Can I see her?” Kelly asked and Will grimaced “She asked to see Matt” Kelly and Stella both spun to face him. “Like hell. I’m seeing my sister” Kelly tried but Matt had taken enough. He understood that Kelly loved you but if you wanted him, you were getting him.
He stepped up to Kelly “Tell you what Sev, you can do whatever you feel like you got to do as soon as I make sure the woman I love is ok. She wants to see me, I’m seeing her” Kelly’s mouth fell open in shock so Matt shoved past him “Take me to Sunshine Will”
He could hear Kelly trying to stop him and Stella trying to stop Kelly but it would take all of CPD to keep him from your room and they better bring SWAT.
Will stopped outside of your room and looked between the three of them before opening the door. They all stepped in and your eyes flew up to them. “I asked for Matt”
____________________
You wanted Matt. As soon as you woke up you asked Will for Matt, now Matt, Kelly and Stella were in your room.
“Sunshine?” Kelly sounded so hurt you hadn’t asked for him. You smiled slightly “Kel, I love you so much big brother but I need to talk to Matt and I don’t know if you’re gonna like what I have to say” He looked from you to Matt before shrugging “I just lived over two hours not knowing if I’d see you again. I don’t care sis. You’re alive. We can deal with anything” you felt tears spring to your eyes then looked at Matt “Come here”
He walked over to the bed, hands shaking as he pushed your hair back from your face “Babygirl you scared me so bad. I thought I lost you before I could tell you that I love you. You are everything to me” you leaned into his touch, ignoring everyone else in the room “I thought there for a second I was leaving before I could tell you just how much I love you” and that smile you always loved slipped onto his face “Yeah?” “Yeah” you replied and he leaned in to gently brush his lips against yours.
“You really do love her?” Kelly asked and Matt pulled away from you with a laugh, looking over at your brother who was leaning in the corner with Stella in his arms “Yeah, I do” he looked from Matt to you “I guess I’m ok with it but if you hurt her I’ll kill you” Matt cut his eyes back at you and grinned “If I hurt her I’ll dig my own grave. I told you I’d help you kill anyone that hurt Sunshine”
You groaned and looked at Stella “Why did we fall in love with idiots?” she shrugged “Luck I guess?” you laughed and laid your head over on Matt’s shoulder. Will cleared his throat “I’m gonna leave now. Someone update the waiting room so all the cops and firefighters will clear out. Sunshine if all your tests are clear you’ll be out of here tomorrow”
Once Will left you cut your eyes at Kelly from where you were laying against Matt “Are you sure you’re ok with this?” his eyes were glued to the bandages he could see on you. “Yeah because that call terrified me. I never want you pissed at me over something so stupid again. If you love this idiot I’m not gonna stand in the way” Matt laughed “I promise you Kelly, I’ll take care of your sister” Kelly glared at him for a moment before saying “You better”
You shook your head and curled up further against Matt “I’m going to sleep, getting shot wears you out” “NOT FUNNY” Matt and Kelly both spoke in unison and Stella shrugged “They finally agree on something, your humor sucks Sunshine”

I think
“I didn’t know they were weed brownies!” And “I swear, it’s the truth!”
Would be really funny with Chicago Fire if you’d be so kind 🥰🥰🥰
Matt Casey liked to think that every return he made back to Chicago was a breath of fresh air. Not that looking after the boys was difficult and he didn't enjoy it, but a reminder of his old life was often exactly what he needed in his new one. Of course, seeing you was the primary reason he came home, but his 51 family was more than a bonus.
Matt had decided to make for the station before the hotel. There were only a couple hours left of shift and he was ready for the placid atmosphere typical after twenty-two hours already on the job.
“I didn’t know they were weed brownies!"
The bounce in his step waned slightly as he let the door shut behind him. He could tell his sister's voice from a mile away, but the tone of it was one he wasn't used to.
"I swear, it’s the truth. These little kids were selling them, I thought they were sweet kids—they seriously looked like sweet kids."
“I, yeah—" There was a snort of laughter. Sylvie. "We believe you, Y/N.”
"Don’t doubt it, girl!" Stella sounded as enthusiastic as possible, but that same hint of amusement was evident in her voice.
Matt couldn't help his concern, quickening his pace and rounding the engine truck. The ambulance back doors were open, and you were sat at the edge, terror written all over your face. Stella was sat on her haunches in front of you, hands on your knees. Sylvie was on one side, a blood pressure monitor in her hands, and Violet was rummaging through a bag on the other.
Your wide eyes—wide, groggy eyes—met his the moment he made himself visible.
“Matty!” You made to jump up, but the girls stopped you before you could, blurting all kinds about slowing down and blood and heart.
Matt could tell you were on the verge of tears, could see the quivering of your lips and the watering of your already watering eyes. Quickly, he dropped his bag on the floor and rushed across to envelop you in a hug, cupping the back of your head to his chest. "Hey, there," he said. He met Stella's eyes, the captain having stood up, and mouthed a "what happened?" over your head.
Stella mouthed a simple "brownies" back, as though that answered the question perfectly. Luckily, you helped out.
“Matt, I took drugs," you spoke quietly. Matt's frown deepened.
The girls jumped to attention. "Not on purpose!" Sylvie said.
"Not on purpose," Stella confirmed. "Some douche was giving his kids weed brownies to sell outside his garage. Either that or someone got their recipes seriously mixed up. Boden’s sent CPD down there.”
You twirled a lock of your brother's hair around a finger, still clinging to him. “CPD’s gonna beat someone's ass," you said pointedly, "I paid eight dollars for those brownies.”
Violet crossed her arms over her chest. “Hey, Y/N, how many did you eat again?”
“Four.” Your voice was muffled, yiur face buried in Matt's chest, but everyone heard it.
Sylvie. "Rough."
"They were so good," you said.
There was a general silence, something concern probably should have filled, but after a moment the amusement of the situation set in, and smiles broke out.
"Can I assume she's gonna be fine?" Matt asked. He gently pulled away from you and guided you to sit back down on the truck.
Sylvie nodded, crossing her arms. "She's got an elevated heart rate and she'll be loopy for a bit longer but yeah, she'll be okay."
"What if the kids come after me?" You let your head drop against Matt's shoulder.
"What's that, sweetheart?" Matt asked.
"What if the brownie kids come back because I sent the cops on them?"
Sylvie put a fist to her mouth
"That's not gonna happen," Matt assured you, "don't worry."
Stella clapped her hands together after Kylie's voice asking for her echoed throughout the station. "Okay, crazy, I'm gonna take you off duty for the rest of shift, okay?"
You face fell. "Oh, but—can I still stay at the firehouse?"
"Probably best," Stella agreed.
Matt stood up. "Hey, Lieutenant, you need someone to fill in?"
Stella grinned, pointing a finger towards him as she backed out of the room. "Luckily for you, ex-Lieutenant, a spot just opened up. Go get a drink, Y/N, and stay where we can keep an eye on you. Hey, hey, Hermann, can you escort her into the common room? Don't leave her."
Hermann, who'd been passing by with an apple in hand, didn't have much of a choice as Matt passed his sister onto him with a kiss to your hot forehead before running off to change. Hermann took your arm in his when you went to fall.
"The hell's up with you? You sick?"
"I took drugs."
"What?"
